Will our signings be like a bus?

You know that saying, something like, you don’t see a bus for hours then three or four go by at once….

Well I have a feeling that Arsenal’s new signings could be just like that, we haven’t seen one in years, but this summer three or four will come in at one time….

So why none yet? (apart from Chamakh, and we’ve known that since January)

Firstly, Arsene Wenger is in South Africa, we all know that don’t we. I can’t see him wanting any players unveiled whilst he’s away, no, he will want to be the man in the picture next to our new boys holding their new shirt high.

Secondly, I think he wants a few more players in the door and try to wow us all by unveiling them all at once, try to get the fans lifted and start to regain a bit of trust from those who doubt him right now.

Thirdly, and finally, my cunning theory is that the players we have or are going to sign are still involved in the world cup this weekend.

JonJon and many of you will tell me I’m mad, full of hope, only to be left disappointed again just as he, I and most fans have been since we moved to The Emirates, the day the purse was zipped firmly closed, but until this window closes I am going to stay positive.

Think about it, Gallas and Senderos have gone, Sol and Silvestre are out of contract and will no doubt follow them out the door – what manager would start a season with one darn good centre half and one who has been injured for a season and even before then he was only 3rd or 4th choice? None would and I certainly don’t anticipate a manager who has the intelligence that ours does, to do that either.

Koscienly is signed I’m sure but already some are knocking him. Is that because he’s poor or is just because he’s not some big lump from a big club who costs big money… I suspect mostly its the latter, but I think those same fans are in for a shock, a pleasant one too…

Paying vast amounts of money for a player doesn’t necessarily mean that player is outstanding, look at how much we got for Lardy and Toure, doesn’t that say something…

We paid 12M Euros for Thomas Vermaelen……. He’s good isn’t he????

If my theory is right we could be in for a player from Holland, Uruguay, Paraguay, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Argentina or Ghana couldn’t we.

So please Mr Wenger, don’t disappoint us again this summer, a German, a Dutch and a player from Ghana would be mighty fine, I’d even settle for Chesney in-goal then.

Add them to Chamakh and Koscielny and we are there, we are ready to take on and beat the world……

Go on Arsene, get rid of this label, once and for all 🙂

    Morning all,

I’m ready for an ear bashing 🙂

  2. shedzy says:

personaly, i’ve been thinking exactly the same thing….. although i also recognise that its born out of hope as much as a belief that it will actually happen!

  3. DragonDragon says:

We’re going to buy the entire German national team. That’s what’s holding up our transfer announcements 😉

  4. rico says:

    morning shedzy and DD

we have to hope, season after season we end up with nothing after so many promises, we have lost so many players from an already frail squad, surely wenger has to change his approach this summer…

  5. Red Arse says:

    Morning Ricy Dicy

I love your upbeat take on our new player prospects! It’s what I want to hear and hope for too.

I cannot help but be a little cynical, but I can wait a little longer until Arsene gets back from SA with Wath. (with Wath, sounds like a magis incantation). 🙂 I have waited summer after summer for years, after all.

I was also hoping for some more ‘photos of your sexy gardener, George the mower! 😉 All I got was some wrinkly old tart who looks like Harry Rednkap.

  6. rico says:

😆 DD, not all of them, four or five would do ….

  7. c gander says:

wenger has no excuses, we have lots of money, players have left ,wage bill has freed up and there is quality players available at right price. But wengers right price is a few million and a goat or some farm animals similar to what he offered valencia for villa. NO EXCUSES.

  8. Red Arse says:

You are spot on Gander. Trouble is he has got a mind set that just does not like to admit weakness.

  9. steve says:

I think that we can sign Eden hazard melo mario
if we sign all this player before we will be the most strongest team in the european through they are young and left of experience but it is no doubt that their talent

  10. Andybest says:

I support wat d writter hav said, let prof wenger dont deceived us dis time, we fans ar hungry for trophy, we have endure alot,GUNNER Till death.NO SHAKing.

  11. rico says:

    Morning RA and c gander

spoton cg, we now have the money, the debt has been reduced, no excuses indeed, if wenger finds one, he can start packing his bag and follow cesc….

although it seems barca are back tracking….

  12. rico says:

hi steve, we need players who are ready now, ready to get stuck in and help win us something… don’t care who they are if i’m honest either…

  13. readie says:

we must get cole keep camble.deffo a new keeper hart would b good as he has youth and is english.

  14. rico says:

readie, i’d rather wilshere plays, use the money to buy a Song kinda player rather than cole?

  15. K-TR7 says:

Morning all.rico your optimism is good to hear but i guess we’ll have to wait and see.shearer should be ashamed of himself.he called the germans average but let me tell him something;take the remote and watch other leagues too.thats the problem with most Englishmen.they think that only the EPL has quality players.if shearer doesn’t know this;müller, klose, badstuber, schweinsteiger and lahm were cl finalists.özil, khedira, badstuber,müller were u-21 champs last year so they aren’t in any way average.for him to cite that englands individuals are better let me give him a hint:teamwork, organisation and tactics will always beat talent even when outnumbered.no wonder he got newcastle relegated…

  16. rico says:

hi ktr7, shearer is a K**b, if he was so good a spotting talent he would be managing rather than giving his worthless opion on television…

  17. agirlagunner says:

Hola, rico! I have this unshakeable feeling that your third theory holds! 🙂 It’s not just blind optimism too. I can’t wait for the WC to finish so that AW can make the proper announcements.

And will someone please get that stain Pique to stfu? They are vile, the lot of them.

    hola, KT, RA. 🙂

  18. rico says:

Boo, agag, never have i wanted a world cup to finish as much as do this one, i haven’t enjoyed it much if i’m honest and we fans need a few things to be told straight, both those coming in and those going out…

  19. Suhail.TV says:

    Morning all the good peeps..

I heard that we booked a 2 year old last day and will be ours once he turns 16 after 14 years..

  20. rico says:

morning STV, you old cynic you 😉 😉

cant think why you would suggest that 🙂

  21. rico says:

i can’t wait to see the germans batter spain 🙂

  22. agirlagunner says:

    lol @ STV. That’s a long time to wait… 🙂

rico, I really hope the Germans show up Barcelona, who, by the by, were not even great last night. 😉 And your Villa made the most out of that fairly innocuous contact in the box. That’s how desperate they were…

  23. K-TR7 says:

Don’t worry rico they will do us proud.jogi löw’s head scouts urs siegenthaler does a good job of spotting weaknesses of opponents and no wonder the germans are in their 13th semis and probably 8th final in WC history .i feel aw should learn for jogi that despite possessing sheer talent always study your opponent and look to exploit their weaknesses.Speaking of tactics it was pretty naive of maradonna to play a 4-4-2 diamond against a 4-2-3-1.the double pivot of bastian and khedira and the no.10 in özil isolated messi and mascherano, podolski and müller kept di maria and maxi under wraps which starved messi of any service.this forced messi to drop deep and with özil tightly marked, tevez and higuain maintained high positions failing to pressure schweinsteiger and khedira.this gave him acres of space to pick a pass which meant he effectively tore them apart.to put it simply the germans shattered the diamond…

  24. Suhail.TV says:

Morning Rico.. It almost took a year to sign a moderate chamakh. So am worrying about VDV/ozil/suchlike signing.. thats all … cool 🙂

  25. rico says:

I’ve gone right off David Villa agag, right off him… 😉

  26. Red Arse says:

Hi those I missed earlier, especially the Water Burner. 🙂

For those who can access BBC3 there is a terrific 5 minute show on called “The Special 1”. It features the hateful Mourinho, Sven, Rooney and others in puppet form. It is absolutely hilarious and not to be missed.

Shearer is an absolute cretin trying to sound intelligent which makes him seem even worse. Just ignore him! 😦

  27. agirlagunner says:

They will be battered, rico. They will be battered and fried! And fed to the dogs… (Haha, angry girl…) Although dogs are smart creatures, and probably won’t think them worthy of consumption…

  28. rico says:

ktr7, they made it look very easy as well, thats the ebst i’ve seen the germans play, especially up against what has been described as a strong argie side …

i like their cool dude of a manager 😉

  29. Suhail.TV says:

Rico along with you I belive that bayern will thrash Sd:Barca.. The germs really playing with brain..

  30. TH14 says:

Please, please, pretty please Arsene….SPEND SOME MONEY!!!! I don’t know if I can stand another transfer window where we read 75000 possibles and end up with fuck all. We have to buy. Our squad is shrinking year on year. We suffer the same fate every season – brilliant until the injuries and suspensions kick in, then wait for the Jan window and…NOTHING!

Tell Barca to fuck off, get the cheque book out and spend. Get Ozil, Cole, Richards, Hart and just for a laugh Melo, so that he can kick shit out of Bentley and make him cry like a baby.

  31. kc says:

I’m thinkn a double swoop of Werder Bremen for Ozil and Mertesacker sounds quite nice!!

  32. rico says:

STV, the chamakh signing was zenit’s own fault, they out priced him, chamakh obviously wanted to join us and told arsene to wait – he waited and got a free player rather than spend 10M …

we cant afford to wait for players now, just go spend some mney boss…

wenger is exactly as his picture shows him 😉 😉

  33. Red Arse says:

I am sure that when “The Highbury Clock” is restored to the Emirates soon, all will be well and we will everything.

Avashnee, not heard from you in ages, are you still unwell? 😦

  34. Suhail.TV says:

Helloo Agag.. End of stain.. finally. 😐

  35. rico says:

😆 agag, my dogs wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole, they aren’t fussy either 😉

  36. rico says:

TH14, we all echo your views there…

  37. rico says:

kc, Barca will go for ozil, he would be cheaper than cesc….

  38. Suhail.TV says:

Really the germ’s manager is great..Look like hero of an old film.

  39. rico says:

I’d uite like the chap with the dreadfully long name beginning with S 😉

  40. Red Arse says:

  41. K-TR7 says:

How rude of me!hola agag hope you’re OK…rico what makes the germans that good is that they do the simple things perfectly.how many times did we see gerrard opt for a 40 yard hollywood pass over a simple 5 yard pass?their teamwork is actually excellent and as müller said every successfull team has to have the right blend of alphamales and ‘indians’.

  42. rico says:

just as we used to play ktr7, the perfect short accurate passing, finished by the clynical boot of either henry, freddie or pires…. oh those days…

  43. rico says:

    thats him RA 😉

  44. Suhail.TV says:

The Germans incredibly executed the plan against a slow Argentina.Allow them to posses about 70 mins and then making some furious counter attacks.
That coach didn’t trust on Samuel instead some one like OTAmendi/demichllls and that affected.

  45. K-TR7 says:

Another thing that led to the argentine demise is maradonna’s stubborness by refusing to move with times.he essentially played what in tactics is called a ‘broken team/system’.he had 5 forwards(messi, tevez, higuain,di maria and maxi) while the rest were classified as defenders.the germans on the other hand in defensive mode lined up in a 4-4-1-1 meaning that only özil and klose remained further up the pitch during defending and were used as outlets in counters.this meant that when argies attacked they met a german wall of 9 players:9 v 5 is a no contest even with messi.on the other hand when germany attacked they used all their players bar boateng, two cbs and the gk.it was essentially a 7 v 6 when germans attacked which meant argies were constantly outplayed in both offence and defence.

  46. Suhail.TV says:

Rico.. ‘Mark Peter Gertruda Andre`Van Bommel’ was great on the other day.

  47. rico says:

STV, thats what the brazilians do too, just keep the ball and then the killer pass and GOAL…

Sadly though they lost their way a tad against Robins lot..

  48. Suhail.TV says:

KT.. The sign was evident from the mexico game.. But Maradonna ignored.

  49. rico says:

He’s a bit old now though is Van Bommel, i think we were on the verge of signing him once until he crunched one of our players…

what makes me always smile though about him was he turned down an offer from the spuds saying, ‘they were too small a club’ for him…. 🙂

  50. agirlagunner says:

rico, they’re hazardous waste matter, even dogs would know… 🙂

Hello, RA. The Germs won and I did no kitchening, so the world is well today.

KT, howdy? What was amazing about the Germans was how well everyone played, not just the star names. Özil was man-marked and up stepped the others. I really do hope they keep that level of play against Barcelona.

  51. rico says:

KTR7, that system would have worked against lesser sides, like England, but not against Germany…

  52. K-TR7 says:

In my earlier post when i mentioned the 7 v 6 battle in favour of the germans the extra man was schweinsteiger who had acres of space in front of him and guess what?he was MOTM because he destroyed to a devastating effect.if there are lessons i hope aw has learnt at the wc is the importance of tactics and experience in the squad.

  53. rico says:

If they do agag, they will destroy Barca… when is the match being played??

  54. Suhail.TV says:

Happily the brazilians are now @ home.. 🙂

  55. agirlagunner says:

Hola, STV! How are you? van Bommel has been good. I am surprised. I used to think he had no finesse…

  56. Suhail.TV says:

Are they the same klose/ pigger/poldi.. playing for bayern??

  57. agirlagunner says:

Uruguay v. Netherlands, 7 July and Germany v. Spain, 8 July, rico. 🙂 Exciting.

  58. rico says:

we should have got Van Bommel four years ago when he left Barca… At 29, he would have been ideal…

  59. Red Arse says:

It’s sunny and warm here and I think life is ace too, if only Wenger would move his arse in the trfr market! 🙂

One transfer rumour I read said that “a husband had trfr listed his non-cooking wife, and would accept a chicken and a tin of salmon in exchange!”

Seems a bit expensive to me, so I don’t think Wenger will bid. 😉

  60. rico says:

Manure are looking at Cahill and Ireland !

  61. rico says:

Thanks agag, few days yet then – shame 😉

  62. Red Arse says:

They are the same Bayern players. You can recognise Schweiny by the curly tail. 🙂

  63. GMR says:

Rico, I think you’re in for disappointment again if you believe we’ll make another 3 or 4 signings. I made the point on another blogsite yesterday, but our first team squad currently has 29 players. From that you can take Gallas, Silvestre, Szczesny & possible Campbell & Wilshere. That leaves 24 players & it’s pretty safe to assume Koscielny will arrive at some point this week taking the first team squad to 25. Seen as you can only name 25 players in your squad I think anyone expecting several new arrivals will be sorely disappointed.

Wenger will wait until either players leave or in Campbell’s case makes up his mind what he wants to do before he enters the transfer market again. There is no way Wenger will overstock the squad in the hope of selling 2-3 players off before the window shuts, he’ll let players go first to keep the wage bill level.

  64. Suhail.TV says:

Hola Agag.. am good.. and U.. MVB has been good… Shame he spend his good years scambling with managers

  65. Suhail.TV says:

hello REDA, how you doing ??? Ya I saw Otamendi trying to pull it from behind ❗

  66. K-TR7 says:

STV thats the beauty of the german system.jogi löw plays the players to their strengths and he knows how to get the best out of his players.klose had 3 goals at bayern while podolski was miserable with Fc köln but the two players have excellent chemistry in between them;at bayern when they were in the same team they would speak polish to confuse defenders.they are also very experienced German internationals who always deliver on the international stage.klose has 51 goals in 100 caps for Germany and that says all you need to know.löw also had the balls to drop underperfomers such as kuranyi, frings…in favour of müller and khedira which is paying off.müller has 7 caps but he already has 4 goals.when the argies and germany met in feb in munich maradona saw uncapped müller at the press conference where he insulted him thinking he was a ballboy.guess what?müller tought maradona’s team a thing or two about footy last night…to sum my post;wouldn’t have it been better for capello to drop lampard/gerrard in favour of A.johnson an actual left winger?…

  67. agirlagunner says:

RA, as with most transfer rumors, I assure you that one is false. The non-cooker is a keeper, I am certain of it. 🙂

KT, you do know your European football. Impressive!

  68. rico says:

Hi GMR, i have to say that a part of me believes you but, all the time the window is open i must hang onto some hope – i hope come the start of the season, i am right for once 😉

  69. Suhail.TV says:

Shwarzer to arsenal because his grand son like London shopping..

  70. Red Arse says:

You are a genius! I love that piggy tail. One more for my list of yellow wotsits. 🙂 ❗

  71. rico says:

short answer to that one ktr7 is yes, gerrards best place imho would be just behind shrek… leaving lumpard and barry in the middle and playing two out and out wingers – only as he persists with 442…

  72. Red Arse says:

We are looking for a keeper to replace Almunia. Perhaps the rumour is true after all. 🙂

Rico, what about my request for more of George? 😉

  73. rico says:

I think one picture of George was bad enough RA 😉

  74. Red Arse says:

    Rico, KT,

I hope Postman Pat does what he has promised and gets rid of the old guard and brings in the new youngsters.

Watching Rugby and Cricket, I am amazed at how many countries have players born in other countries, who become qualified to play by 4 year residency.

England is such a cosmopolitan nation we could easily have players from Ghana, Brazil, Germany, Phillipines (?) in the team and have a chance of playing well and not disgracing ourselves! 🙂

  75. rico says:

I’d be well naffed off if Red Nose gets Cahill, how many defenders does he want…

  76. Red Arse says:

    Not true, Rico,

I am immediately setting up a fan club! 🙂

  77. Red Arse says:

I commented a couple of weeks ago that I am v. suspicious of the Time Keeper’s transfer strategy.

I think he watches Arsene and reads the rumours of Arsenal targets, (e.g. Ronaldo, Smalling etc) and then buys them up to spite Wenger. Ba***rd. 🙂

  78. Danish Gooner says:

There is more likelihood of Godot arrivng then 4 or 5 Arsenal signings.

  79. Danish Gooner says:

Pique is one little sissy c**t for that comment alone Arsenal should raise the prize by 5 mil.

  80. rico says:

RA, but look at Frimpong, he has chosen to play for the country his family are from, not where he was born..

I would be exactly the same

  81. Red Arse says:

    Well, bye for now folks.

I’ve been clubbing (sedately) most of the night and need to chase the ducks and swans around the local lake to get my muscles working. (not to eat them Agag, they are too cute). 🙂

  82. rico says:

DG, Vladimir says he’s on his way 😉

  83. Red Arse says:

Godot has just arrived! 🙂 🙂

  84. rico says:

    See you later RA….

  85. Red Arse says:

Frimpong wasn’t asked to play for the England youth teams, like many of the Arsenal kids, and although proud of his heritage, I think he was miffed.

  86. Suhail.TV says:

Bye RA, come back soon.. Be careful about muscle..and dont let it be like TR7’s.

  87. Red Arse says:

  88. agirlagunner says:

Have fun, RA… and no touching the grey geese either! 🙂

  89. rico says:

RA, I think Frimpong has been playing for the England youth sides 😉

  90. Suhail.TV says:

Hello Agag.. you back.!. You always says hello and disappears..

  91. rico says:

Emmanuel Frimpong has represented England as a teenager but he hopes his international future lies with Ghana.

The muscular midfielder helped Arsenal win the Youth Cup last year and, although injuries have stalled his progress this term, he remains one of the Club’s most highly-rated youngsters. Frimpong was on the bench for last May’s Premier League trip to Portsmouth and all three of this season’s Carling Cup ties.

The 18-year-old has already pulled on an England shirt, winning youth international honours for his adopted country. But despite spending a decade in England, Frimpong’s heart remains with his homeland.

“I have always said that, no matter what, I will always play for Ghana because at the end of the day, from what I believe, I am a Ghanaian,” he told Arsenal TV Online.

“England has done a lot for me and my family but at the end of the day I can’t see myself playing for England because I am not English – I am from Ghana.”

  92. Suhail.TV says:

How annoying is David villa.. 😦

  93. Suhail.TV says:

His name none the less is very interesting.. Is’t it Rico?? FRING-PONG

  94. agirlagunner says:

Sorry, STV. Getting some work done. 😦

  95. Suhail.TV says:

  96. rico says:

    Frimpong isn’t it STV?

  97. Suhail.TV says:

Ping Pong mechanism.. (it is rico)

  98. rico says:

    i didn’t know that stv 😦

    as per table tennis 😉

  99. Suhail.TV says:

Rico, You too engaged with work ???

  100. rico says:

Nah STV, just searching around the internet for gossip whilst waiting for the kitchen floor to dry 😉

  101. rico says:

    Off for a bit, laters

  102. JonJon says:

    what signings??

    there aint guna be any…

    hey guys.. 😉

  103. Red Arse says:

    Right, now where were we?

    Oh yes;

    Ping Pong balls;

    Non-cook Keeper replacing Almunia;

    Lack of sexy George ‘photos and;

    Piggy tails.

In your absence JJ we discussed the above, at leisure, and KT tried to get us to chat about the Germany strategy/tactics.

  104. Red Arse says:

O.K., No one wants to chat then.

Off for a shower, having had no luck chasing ducks and swans. Don’t even know what a Grey Goose looks like, so suspect Rico and Agag just teasing me! 🙂

  105. Red Arse says:

For those of you returning from the pub later, I must admit that “chasing” the ducks etc was a v. liberal use of the word. Hopping after them might possibly better sum up my efforts

The poultry sneered at me, turned away, crapped and waddled off faster than I could hop. Bast***ds!

  106. JonJon says:

the german tactics are easy and quite the basics of football…

discover you opponents weakness, stay organised work hard, exloit that weakness and rip them to shreds no mercy..

without the ball they play like their lifes depended on it and they all play for eachother…defend from the front and close down quickly….

with the ball they play like theyve got slippers on

wenger needs to take note…teams have to ut a shift in with or without the ball

weve got too many who dont give a toss if the balls not at their feet and to be honest they arent good enough when they do have it..

  107. Suhail.TV says:

Hello Red Arse.. I came to know you failed to chase the ducks.. 😦 .. What can I do other than wishing Wenger better luck with the Players.

  108. Suhail.TV says:

    Alloo JJ… 😉

  109. JonJon says:

    allo suhail.. 😉

  110. Suhail.TV says:

You caught in heavy work these days I think.. Just like Agag..
How’s the day, and what on earth is Wenger doing?? 😦

  111. JonJon says:

caught in a heavy everything mate..not just work.. 😦

the day is the same and wenger is doing what wenger always does..

  112. Suhail.TV says:

I have lost any of words on him….
    When will the window closes??

  113. Shrek says:

Hi all, hope everyone’s doing well.
One thing I’d like to mention about the Germans is they study their opponent very well from what we see of them. Fabregas mentioned how Spain also does this but Arsenal doesn’t. Its something Wenger could do well looking into. Personally I’d like him to sign a big defender like Mertesacker/ Chiellini ; Mertesacker seems very calm on the balland a very clean tackler , hoping he comes.A good central midfielder like Khedira to give company to Cesc/Nasri/anyone else in the with Diaby as a backup for him would be great. We need a good box to box midfielder who can go from defence to attack in a matter of seconds. We need a seriously good striker who has pace and dribbling skills to rattle the opposition defence , Van persie isn’t that, he’s player in the Bergkamp mould. Of course we need a good keeper as well.

  114. Suhail.TV says:

If Spain’s mentioned studies gives those results, Its not imitable. They were real lucky to get through this far.. Hope the germs will crush them.. and they are nearly unstoppable at the moment..

  115. rico says:

    Afternoon all…

  116. rico says:

STV, they were very very lucky yesterday….

  117. Suhail.TV says:

Rico Now you on.. am off giving U the duty.. 🙂

  118. pacman says:

Take it easy now boys, Wenger will sign players!!
Kol is ours for 8,5 , coming in 1 more centerback 4 sure (tops 10 and unlikely that), Swartzer(4 mill), cole ( free).. And then Cesc goes for 50 mill and Wenger says we spent alot of money:)

  119. rico says:

    Oh 😦

See you soon STV, have a good one 🙂

  120. rico says:

thats more like it pacman 😉

  121. Red Arse says:

I think Pacman maybe a little sarky?

  122. Red Arse says:

    Sorry Rico,

    8.5m + 4M + free + (say) 10m = 23m

    Sell Fab 50m = Profit 27m

    Could be right.

  123. rico says:

    RA, no, surely not 😉

  124. rico says:

Did you see my earlier re Frimpong RA 😉

  125. JonJon says:

well swartzer kos and chamaka dont fill me with confidence and chamak dont count cos hes free..

arsenal need a to class keeper not another almunia..

we need 3 top class cb’s..not one and a bunch of cygans stepanovs and senderos’s

  126. rico says:

hi jj, but and i know you’ll negate this, but what do we know about Kos? I knew little about TV and he’s been worshipped after his first season. kos may just be on a similar level?

Chamakh, well when he was happy at Bordox he was doing fine, we create and need a finisher, he could just be the one, wenger is not so bad when getting strikers…

  127. rico says:

have i missed something, have we signed schwarzer??

  128. JonJon says:

we know jack about kos..and thats my point..

tv was captain of ajax and a fully fledged beguim international…10mil was a steal

kos is a nobody..we are losing gallas and replacing him with cygan…kos will be our only defensive signing and he wont be good enough..

whats getting me is that we have all this cash to spend and there a tonnes of top players in the world unhappy at their clubs and we still going for bargain basement buys..

  129. JonJon says:

    no..we dont want to either

  130. rico says:

jj, come christmas you’ll be eating your words about Kos 😉

Maybe he’s just the back up, i don’t know, no-one does, but this window isn’t over yet…

ho many other pl sides have bought yet? just the two mega rich clubs, 25M for Yaya is a joke…. That should mean Cesc is worth 70M 🙂

  131. rico says:

Big bucks doesnt mean great players always, how much did Wiltord cost us??? How long was it before fans wanted him gone??

I can’t be doom and gloom at the moment jj, like i said though, come the end of the season and you are right, wenger can shove off and i say lets get a manger who wants to build on what we have…

  132. pacman says:

    Just being realistic Red Arse!!!!!!

  133. JonJon says:

thing is rico is that every other club are suposed to be skint..which is why movement is slow..

    were not skint though..

i cant believe everyones falling for the trap..

when we lost rvp wenger said he would replace him at xmas but he didnt..we finished third won 1 game in the last 10 and wenger said we had lots of money and would buy the players we need..the club postponed the AGM until august hoing everyone would calm down…

everyone is calming down but the club are not sticking to their promises..again..

JD will also be seen as a new signing…with tv kos jd song and bartley wenger will say he has enough..

there wont be anyone else why are ppl building their hopes up and believing in someone whos spent the last 5 years lying…

  134. rico says:

but he wanted chamakh jj, bordox knew this and stuck a silly price on his head… i’m not trying to jump on the ‘the boss knows all’, but i want to give him a last chance saloon 😉

  135. Red Arse says:

No Probs Pacman, I was trying to put your comment into financial terms, that was all. 🙂

    Can’t say I disagree really.

  136. rico says:

Nadal is having a pretty easy time RA…

  137. pacman says:

    Spot on Jonjon…!

  138. JonJon says:

he wanted chamaka….but instead of paying the money to sustain our form he decided to risk our form suffering and wait til we got him for free…

everyone practically said if it werent for rvp being injured we would have done the league…but we knew he was injured at xmas and did naff all about it just to save pennies…

its all about money now..wenger wont spend hes too proud of his profits…

  139. Red Arse says:

    My 1:46 refers. 😉

You brought up Ping Pong and you were right. However, I think there is a bit more to his decision than meets the eye. 🙂 For every Ping Pong there is (say) an Almunia who is keen to play for England.

I was only flying a kite, but, as with technology, FIFA are running behind many other sports regarding elegibility.

  140. Red Arse says:

I used to think Federer was the best in Tennis history, and he was. Now Nadal is just out on his own.

Unlike the women’s tennis he does not have a huge physical advantage over little men. 🙂

  141. JonJon says:

im not having a bash at wenger here either…i think hes a fantastic man but hes got the the stage where hes thinking like a director and not a football club manager…

wenger knows how to run a club as a successful business but he doesnt know how to run a successful football team

ive said this before i think the continental approach to management doesnt work in england, but it would work at arsenal…let wenger go upstairs and take care of everything else and get in a hungry coach just to manage the team..

  142. rico says:

but finacially it makes no sense to pay mega bucks for a player he knew he would get for free, nik and robin were coming back and i guess he thought we would cope – what we lacked was defensive cover, gallas, tv, song were all out and silvestre is shite…

why didn’t he just play freeman or sunu up front, they would have relished the opportunity …

but i see where you are coming from 😉

  143. JonJon says:

yes of course it would have been silly to pay 15mil for a player that would cost nothing in 6 months

but we did it with Arshavin…

AA contract was running down and we still bought him for 18mil at xmas…

the difference then was that we werent going to finish 4th..villa was doing us remember and wenger shat himself at the thought of missing out on CL so he paid the money and got AA…it worked..

wengers priorities are to make money…if he thinks hes missing out on the league he wont buy…but if hes missing out on 4th spot he will…

he does enough to secure CL..but he wont risk that extra push to win the league cos it costs money…

when you think about it theres not that much difference in prize money between 1st and 4th place..

but the cost of being 1st would be 3 players with a net spend or 50mil

wenger wont do that..he wont pend 50mil just to finish 1st and make 3 or 4 million more…

    maximize profits with minimal input..

    4th is the target..

  144. K-TR7 says:

We may differ on many things but messi has said theo is the most dangerous player he has played against.he has said pique, xavi and Guardiola insisted he was the main weapon we had that rattled them…

  145. pacman says:

Ok then.. We can all just Relax, we got Theo the pacey poney

  146. pacman says:

    pony sorry

  147. JonJon says:

😆 dont get me started on theo

  148. JonJon says:

they thought theo was a most dangerous weapon..they must have been having a laugh

theo was our most dangerous weapon but they still mopped the floor with us..

and if hes that dangerous why dont they buy him instead of cesc

they can have theo for 30mil

  149. K-TR7 says:

Don’t kill the messanger!i’m just delivering the message.it seems jj is sad about the direction our club has taken.to be honest i’m not optimistic either…

  150. rico says:

jj, i don’t know if i can answer your comment about AA, other than, what a waste of money he has been, maybe that explains why wenger wouldn’t take a risk on chamakh 😉 😉

  151. Vanfabregas says:

Good article, You might be right about us signing a player whos already involved in the worldcup.

Wenger said that we will sign a player before the worldcup finishes, and that will be koshielny, Reports yesterday said that he is in london and the signing will be announced On monday because they rarely update the website on a sunday.

If that signing is done, who else can wenger be thinking of? he is a co commentator on a french tv and my friend who is french said that wenger has not said anything that should give us a clue about “future” signing.

But what i think, is that Wenger is also interested in Mertesacker, that might be the player your cunning theory suggests. and why not? hes been linked with us heavily and he is more then solid if not world class. We also have Djourou who i trust quite a lot, he has bags of potential but his dodgy knee is often the cause that blocks his growth. More over we have two youngsters in Bartley and Nordveilt who we have seen glimpses of but dont know if they will be world class or the next cygan.

Anyways, i hope wenger signs atleast 4 players, 2 CB’s 1 midfielder as a cover for song and 1 Goalkeeper

    Thanks for reading

  152. rico says:

jj, now i blame wenger for theo’s decline 😉

ktr7, your meant to be on my side 😉

  153. rico says:

I have to go shortly peoples, won’t be around for a couple of days either…

You all be good, stay safe and see you soon…

    Germany v Holland Final ??

  154. rico says:

Vanfabregas, welcome and good to see you here, there aren’t many who think we will sign players, but you are spot on about where we need them…

    Wenger’s silence speaks volumes 🙂

  155. rico says:

Ok peeps, seems everyone has gone for the day so I will do the same,

have a good un and see you soon

    Night all, stay safe….

  156. agirlagunner says:

Knackered! Night, everyone. rico, have fun wherever it is you’re going! 🙂 🙂 We will try not to miss you. 😦

Germany v. Holland, def. Barcelona to exit in disgrace! 🙂

Hola, JJ. Theo isn’t that bad. 🙂 And our summer holds much promise. We sell YKW, get VDV and Mertesacker.

    Bye, KT!

  157. pacman says:

What are your thoughts on Denilson?? I think he should be chanced 4 somebody else, would be sad to see Eduardo go to, but think its the right thing to do.
What does Wenger do with the keepers situation, does he have the balls to tell Almunia to fuck off?? Dont think so..

    JJ spot on again!

  158. rico says:

thanks agag, and of course you won’t 😉

  159. rico says:

Right, I’m gone, laters all 🙂

  160. Suhail.TV says:

  161. Suhail.TV says:

is bad.. good night every one

  162. Jay-Jay says:

I’m starting up an Arsenal blog of my own and whilst I’d concur this is an unabashed and blatant attempt to get a few readers from one of the more popular sites, I hope you’ll have a read and maybe fire a few pointers my way.

    Thanks guys.

  163. JonJon says:

AA was shit hot first 6 months and dragged us out of the crap..got us CL football scored something like 8 goals and got 8 assists in 15 games…cesc wasnt firing that season and although we went unbeaten for 20+ games half of them were nil nil draws…we were shit.. he was the best 15mil we ever spent

but like the rest of us he probably thought he was going to see some big signings…

hes not one of wengers robots either so he probably thought sod this im not happy with this..i didnt come to arsenal to play with almunia, silvestre, denilson, diaby, eboue etc throw two trophies and finish 3rd and 4th every year….a bit like cesc has now..

denilsons garbage and needs to be sold pacman

as for almunia no he’ll still be number one next season wenger doesnt do GK’s..unless they cost naff all but the keepers that cost naff all are no better than almunia..

  164. RealityBites says:

Rubbish – he will not buy anyone who is still playing in the World Cup (unless he gets them on a free & I can’t think of anyone who qualifies for that). Their prices will be inflated and Wenger won’t pay an inflated price for any player. We are going to get a geriatric goalkeeper (Swartzer) this Polish/French guy who’s never even experienced Europa League football (to replace our most experienced player, Gallas) & Chamakh will replace Eduardo. If Cesc leaves this season instead of next he’ll use a paltry amount to try & replace him – whoever he end ends up being, he won’t be no Cesc.
He will give Vela/Denilson/Diaby/Nasri/Clichy etc etc one more season to prove his, I fear misguided, faith in them & when it doesn’t work out he’s going to walk.
Same old, same old – dreaming of world class signings all summer is just going to make you gutted an 11.59pm on transfer deadline day.

  165. RSD says:

Watch rico all ok just get enjoying the break with lots angling will be back preseason new baby due anytime so will be stuck in for the season. shame. awaiting the rvp v cesc wc final

  166. DeiseGooner says:

have we signed anyone yet for feck sake!

  167. DeiseGooner says:

from another blog who ‘has contacks’ – couple of weeks ago that the club had put in a bid for Gerrard, well i had that confirmed today, AND that the bid has not been rejected…………..yet!

We have turned down a £50m bid for Fabregas from Man City, so if Barca want “their” man they will have to cough up over £50m!!

We are (apparently) in for Schweinsteiger, in a serious way!

Finally, we have table a British record transfer fee (for the position) for a player, my contact was loather to tell me who, as he is one of only four people who no the identity!!!!

  168. RSD says:

who said we’re in for gerrard and schweinsteiger?

  169. DeiseGooner says:

just a fellow blogger who says he has it on good authority…could very well be a load of horsesh*t but something to talk about eh!

  170. RSD says:

enjoy the silence while it last only 11 more days till preseason and constant refreshing of newsnow and buzztap

  171. trequartisti says:

Or maybe Wenger is going to wait this season out too. Get some cash and splurge like Real/Barca for next season.
