Sol out? Koscielny in, guess who’s next through the door…….

So it seems Sol is locked in talks with Celtic, that’s him gone then in my opinion. If he wanted to stay with us he would have sorted that out by now, no doubt Celtic are offering him more money and maybe he wants to play abroad again! Scotland is abroad in my eyes 😉

That leaves us with new boy Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen, with Johan Djourou in there too. Not enough for the Premiership season we have ahead so I think we can expect another centre half signed soon. My hope is that when the Koscielny deal is finally announced, its done so with another signing. Maybe Schwarzer, maybe another centre half, maybe even both!

I hope for Gary Cahill, 24yr old, 6′ 2″ Englishman, who’s right footed! We now have two lefties, so we need a righty to balance the defence…

Another option is Madjid Bougherra, a 27yr old defender who can also play in midfield. A dual role player, Wenger likes them!! He shouldn’t cost too much either.

On to other players linked with us right now……………….

Mario Balotelli – 6’3″ striker who is constantly saying he loves being linked to us, he’s only 19yrs old, maybe if Eduardo leaves Wenger will look for another striker, but will he take a chance on another young striker? Would the new Inter manager sell him to us, I doubt it. Can’t see this one happening!

Loic Remy, another striker hoping for a move to us, he is reported to have rebuffed West Ham in hope that our wiley old boss brings him to Arsenal. Now this one is a tad more interesting in my opinion, he’s 23yrs old, FRENCH and we’ve been linked with him for the last 50 years 😉

The other one in the mix is Joe Cole, I have changed my mind over this one, I would rather Jack Wilshere remain with us rather than go on loan and play the similar role – Jack has attitude and desire, why pay an ex chav £100K a week when we have a fitter younger player who can play in the same position.. For that reason, I don’t think Wenger will take a chance on Joe Cole…

The good news is that we aren’t linked to a central midfielder yet, maybe Melo will just be snapped up in a no fuss, no thrills and spills deal after Holland knock Brazil out of the World Cup – now wouldn’t that get us all up to fever pitch??

We look a really weak side defensively, things have to be done, players need to be bought. In midfield we lack support for Song and between the posts we need a new face….

I don’t know what Arsene Wenger is up to during his spare time in South Africa but I sure as heck hope he’s sorting out the weaknesses in our current squad, because if the new season were to begin right now, we’d be doomed……

It seems more are leaving right now than joining, but have a guess at who you think will be the next player in……

That’s it footie wise for today….

Off topic – I don’t know if you like tennis, but I was pleased with two things at Wimbledon yesterday. One was Venus Williams getting knocked out, the other was seeing the greatest and most successful female tennis player ever to have graced the court return to the game at 53 years old. Having faced and got through a cancer scare, Martina Navratilova partnered Jana Novotna in the Ladies Invitation Doubles Competition, she won too, I hope they go on to win the competition.

Does that not prove that if you’re old enough you are good enough, or should that be if you are good enough, you’re never too old – there’s hope for me yet 🙂

    Fabregas to Barcelona

  2. rico says:

Hi Aicher, i did mean in our door, not barca’s

  3. W.A.T.H says:

Mornin Rico, who partnered Novotna then…????????????

I reckon AW got his feet up drinking wine in SA not giving 2 hoots about footie…!.

  4. Mike L says:

Last night’s Spain match will have given Cesc food for thought.
If he want’s to go to Spain for emotional reasons, then nothing will keep him at The Grove. If it is for footballing reasons, his experience should have given him a hint as to what it will be like at Barca – watching success from the bench.
I didn’t even see him running onto the pitch to celebrate with the players (although I did switch off quite quickly).
Food for thought Cesc, food for thought.

  5. rico says:

Morning WATH, bugger, I left her name out 😉 😉

Nah, not Wenger surely, he doesn’t drink does he??

  6. rico says:

Hi Mike, spot on, Splinters for Spain and Barca, thats all Cesc will get!

  7. MidnightMoor says:

Hope we pinch Kjaer from under the Yids noses. Wage demands could be a stumbling block though – he rejected them last year because they weren’t offering enough $$.

If not him, I’d be very happy with Subotic, Cahill, Chiellini, Mertersacker or Bruno Alves from Porto. Rumours of either of the Algerian defenders Bougherra or Halliche from Benfica also been circulating lately. No bad thing to have an unknown wanting to prove himself, rather than a big name signing like the above.

Not fussed as long as we get the necessary number of additions.

Keeper? Schwarzer would be ok, but realistically only a short term solution. Hart would be my choice, or if Citeh want him as their no. 1, then let’s take Given (admittedly 3 yrs late).

One more DC (after Koscielny), one DM/DC (who can play both positions) and maybe another striker (Remy, Balotelli) if Eduardo goes. If there’s cash left then why not another flair player such as Hazard, Cole or Sanchez of Udinese/Chile.

  8. W.A.T.H says:

Heard Wenger likes the odd bottle of red. . . . . .! He’s french of course he likes wine.

  9. Dave says:

  10. rico says:

Hi MM, i’d take any of those you mention too, sadly though i think the other defender could be another unknown, only coz i cant see wenger splashing out – he’s already spent more than he wanted i bet for Kos (haven’t grasped his spelling yet) 😉

  11. rico says:

MM, defenders i mean, not so sure on cole anymore…

  12. rico says:

WATH, as long as he doesn’t have to share it with Fergie of Fat Sam, eh 😉

  13. Chipo says:

Stronger rumour than Bougherra seems to be this Halliche lad from Algeria. It’s on YoungGuns from last night.

He’s 23 and would apparently be available for £7m

  14. rico says:

Dave, i have updated it now 🙂

  15. W.A.T.H says:

Don’t want cole in a million years……… Like Hazard and a winger we could def do with.

We all know we need a short term keeper til Chezny ready and another centre back and another central midfield ball winner. Not sure about Crapotelli all he seems to do is cause shit and mouth off about how great he is.

  16. rico says:

Chipo, The Algerian defence was pretty good, interesting one there, have to admit I didn’t see that rumour..

  17. james says:

i think the world cup has proved that english players are over priced and over rated, they lack the technical ability of europeans and south americans and their ability to read the game is non existant. To be honest sol campbell is the only real example of that old english centre half whos strong in the tackle but can read the game like the back of his hand left in the modern game but he’s to old. We need a tony adams at the back with vermalen and from what ive heared wenger thinks kolcieny has the potential to match our great stopper.

Unless we develop them from a young age i dont see the point in buying an englishman he will cost to much and demand to high a wage we could get a BETTER forighn player for cheeper.

this is who id like to see brought in this summer:

GK: Mark Schwazer (expierenced wont block development of or younger keepers like scezney and cheep)

CB: Van der wiel (iknow hes a RB but can play at CB) or Bougherra

DM: Anthony Annan (has really impressed me whilst playing for Ghana excellent shield for the defence good tackler incredible workrate sticks to his job rigidly passing the temptation to push forward. his technical abillity is also excellent with good ball control good passing and always seems to find the right man in the right position to pass to relieving preassure on the back 4 people have made comparisons to makelele and i can see why)

  18. W.A.T.H says:

Prob with Annan tho James is yet again African cup of nations bullshit…!

  19. rico says:

hi james – annan has impressed many of us, cahill is the only english man i hope we buy, all the others are exactly as you say. at least cahill was not part of that over hyped bunch of losers…

  20. rico says:

WATH, its moving though to the summer from next year i think

  21. W.A.T.H says:

they playing 2 years running tho Rico 2012 and 2013 and still dont think it’s going 2 the summer all fifa asked was they played odd years not even years.

  22. jaygooner says:

Blimey The Sun are qouting Cashley Cole as “hating England and the people”, don’t you just love that fella.

  23. rico says:

WATh, not so good then, cant have him and Song away 😦

  24. rico says:

Hi jay, reckon he is setting himself up for a move to Real Madrid?? Did you see the photo of the England squad too??

  25. rico says:

That Joseph fella has been fined £65 for trespassing, i bet he thinks it was worth it….

  26. jaygooner says:

lol Rico, celebrating with a beer and a cigar is definitely the way England players should hold their heads in shame. The fella who got in the dressing room after the Algeria game should have been given a knighthood, but £65 quid? Even the South African magistrates clearly agree with his intention and sentiments lol

  27. rico says:

jay, i would understand had they just won, i wonder which player leaked the photo, whoever it was was making sure he gets a game next time 🙂

  28. Pat7 says:

Another good post Rico – I like your more comprehensive viewpoints bringing in the ladies and kids as well as today, tennis!

I hope you’re right about AW. What about Honda as an outsider: a venomous free kick & he might be able to cross the ball better than our ‘no-hopers on that skill’ we have at the moment. He’s got to be looking on someone with that skill as he’s got Chamakh now and an improving Nik to be on the end of them.

  29. rico says:

    Hi Pat7, thank you…

I think Honda is quite classy, but can you imagine having a name like that in the side..

‘Honda has broken down in traing’
‘Honda fails to make speedy recovery’

    etc etc etc 😉

  30. Subterraneo says:

Four good centre backs is a necessity given the amount of games in the season. Djourou will have to prove both his fitness and ability this season. Kyle Bartley or Havard Nordtveit may be given a chance as the 4th choice.

I’d like to see some of the youngsters given a proper chance this year: Wilshere, Lansbury, Bartley, Eastmond, Barazite, Randall, JET, and not forgetting that Gibbs and Ramsey are on their way back…

  31. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, what ppl forget is the england team have already had a 3 week holiday in Sa cos they sure didnt play any footie there. . . . . lol

  32. benniehedgehog says:

lolz at you lot and your championship manager signings!!! do you not realise these players are not all ’20’s’ in this thing called ‘real life’. ah you dont…

  33. atish says:

give nortdveit his chance. Its his time now. try to 2 find another defensive midfielder as song can be deployed in the defence line.

  34. rico says:

Hi Sub, spot on with both, JD has to have a good pre season to prove his worth, hes been out so long…

As for the youngsters, with you on that one too, even its just from the subs bench in games we have killed off early…

  35. Erick says:

Morning Friends Rico nice piece hope we can finish making the defence soon. Agree with you Jack over J.cole am also starting to have doubts over Melo and K-tr7 warned me have to agree he is average

  36. rico says:

bennie, and what do you suggest we talk about then…. i can’t wait to hear your view…!

  37. Simon says:

Morning all, I totally agree with signing Schwarzer. I also agree we need another CB but do you think Havard Nordtveit can step you into the first team? From what I’ve read he had a good loan spell in the Bundesliga last year? I also don’t think AW will buy any midfielders or forwards unless someone leaves.

  38. rico says:

    WATH 😆 😆

  39. rico says:

Hi Erick, thanks me deario 🙂

  40. W.A.T.H says:

benniethe hedgehog with his real life take on signings says it all….! careful of those flea’s fella…!

  41. Erick says:

oi oi oi Sailor you still sailing in SA 🙂

  42. rico says:

Hi those who just joined, Nordveit is a funny one, he has said he wants to know what his future holds and whether its with us, can only guess about him…

I’m not sure if he is good enough – hasn’t he been playing in midfield while on loan? Or did i imagine that one?

  43. rico says:

Erick, I think Melo looks good together with Gilberto, he’s injured now though isn’t he? He didn’t play the other night..

  44. W.A.T.H says:

hey Erick yep still here, the wine is good 😉 gotta shoot, back bit lata, catch ya then.

  45. SA Gooner says:

    I’m pretty sure Cahill is left-footed actually…

Realistically, I think we need 1GK (schwarzer, sorensen), and one CB who can also play DM coz Wenger won’t want to saturate the midfield positions (sum1 like Vertonghen of Ajax). Wenger woon’t be buying a whole series of players.

Then someone like Hazard or Cole will just be a luxury…

  46. rico says:

Hi SA, I checked his stats, it says right footed, you’ll have to blame google if i’m wrong 🙂

  47. rico says:

See you later WATH, have a good one 🙂

    stay off the wine 😉

  48. Erick says:

True Rico but the games have seen am sure he was Average

  49. Erick says:

Wath you still on booze dude your liver must be crying for help 🙂 Take care mate

  50. rico says:

    No M&M then Erick 😉

  51. Simon says:

Again going from what I’ve read about his loan spell he played both CB and DM. Just what we want right? Playing against the likes of Robben, Ribery and Dzeko can’t have hurt either. I’d prefer Cahill but will Wenger cough up how ever much Bolton want for him? and if he did would he also pay 8.5mil for a 4th choice CB (Koscielny)?

  52. jena says:

Bring back Gilberto Silva…still can play DM better than anyone currently on our team or the England team send packing in the world cup.

  53. jonners says:

One name for you for the midfield position. The player that makes the Germans tick …. Bastian Schweinsteiger. Ozil’s getting all the plaudits, but it’s Schweinsteiger that makes the whole thing work.

  54. tommystout says:

    Hi Rico, Good post.
I was debating on another site yesterday about Koskielney being a lefty, and i was unaminously told by the hoard that he is in fact a righty, who is pretty good with both feet.
I know he played left side for Lorient, so i was pondering if he may be just going to be third choice centreback with Djorou promoted to Gallas’s right side spot? I expect Nordvelt to be 4th choice this season with Bartley out on loan again!

  55. Red Arse says:

    Hi Rico

Good post. Sets the mind to dreaming of possible buys! 🙂

Surprised that a lass with your pedigree did not mention that the England Ladies cricket team whooped New Zealand easy peasy yesterday! 🙂 🙂

Don’t think we should think of Boughers, even if he is cheap. He has had more low level clubs than Soho.

  56. rico says:

Simon – i think thats a big thing, why spend a lot on a 3rd coice defender??

  57. rico says:

hi jonners, i don’t want ozil if i’m hones, hes tiddly and tires too easily, but yes, hes still young…

Hi tommystout, thanks re the post.. Maybe he’s thinking of pushin JD into central midfield? I think that’s his most natural position, or read that it was somewhere..
Great minds re the left footed thing 🙂

  58. rico says:

    Morning RA and thanks

Until we have a couple of signings, we can only dream and hope 😦

Blimey, i missed the ladies cricket, how on earth did that happen 😦

  59. rico says:

tommystout, i think we may be wrong, it seems he is a rare wenger signing, he is able to use both feet 🙂

  60. Red Arse says:

    Some good posts there.

    I wouldn’t mind Shwiensteiger. (Jonners)

Can’t see Wenger spending anymore on another CB. (Simon)

I watched quite a lot of football on ESPN last season, and I could have sworn Koscielny was a leftie, or he is blooming ambidextrous. (Tommy)

Loved Gilberto but don’t think he has any pace anymore. (Jena).

    Nice one guys. 🙂

  61. rico says:

Its been another good morning RA, I don’t want Shwiensteiger unless we all agree on a shortened version of his name 😉

  62. K-TR7 says:

Morning all.newcastle want lansbury on loan next season…david villa is quite phenomenal rico.i also wouldn’t mind eduardo the portugal gk.despite spain playing well i was annoyed by capdevilla’s antics.cesc didn’t look too happy at the final whistle and he must be thinking what more he can do to get in the team.he contributed more goals than the whole spanish midfield.

  63. rico says:

    Morning KTR7

You can probably put us all right, left, right or both feet for Kos?? 😉

I wish he was playing for us next season and not the stains, but i have to get over it …

Newcastle want Lansbury, thats interesting – if that gets the go ahead there is our next poss signing, Steven Taylor…

  64. Red Arse says:

I’m sure Schweinsteiger would agree to being called Swiney to come to a great club like Arsenal! Especially as his name in German means pig sticker. 🙂

Hi KT, I think if Lansbury went to Newcassel on loan that could be the making of him.

  65. Erick says:

K- tr7 Habari yako Cesc was fuming on the bench and if the stains get him believe me he will surely explode

  66. rico says:

    hah RA..

I would rather Lansbury stayed, but i honestly can’t see where he would be played right now…

  67. Erick says:

Howdy RA pig sticker ha ha ha thats funny 🙂

  68. Red Arse says:

    Hi Erick,

If Cesc goes it will serve him right! But I still don’t think he will until next year.

  69. Red Arse says:

    Erick, funny but true! 🙂

  70. Erick says:

RA you also good in languages like K-tr7 🙂

  71. rico says:

My thoughts on cesc are still that if barca come up with a 50M plus, he will go…

  72. rico says:

i just wish spain had lost, then we will hear more…

  73. Erick says:

True Ric’s but as it is the semifinals may be on the cards for them Paraguay seem light weight 🙂

  74. Erick says:

Cesc got everything going for him at Arsenal why would he want to go somewhere he is an option while at Arsenal he is a priority my oh my life is sure funny

  75. Suhail.TV says:

Hope for you in whome..rico?? In wenger or capmbell… or sylvie!!

    Morning all..

  76. SD-London says:

    Hi all,
Will we still the same way about Cesc even if he stays?

Cashley Cole has definitely not enjoyed being a footballer since he left Arsenal.
Today’s reports of his outburst at English fans will just make his life more miserable now.
Under Wenger he wouldn’t have got into those terrible situations he found himself in.

When they say everything is not about money, i guess Cashley C understands that more than anybody. He seems very unhappy right now and i am sure his money can’t help him now.

You should have stayed Ashley? You would be Captain now.

  77. rico says:

Ah but anyone can cause an upset Erick, i’ll be cheering for Paraguay 😉

  78. Suhail.TV says:

    Helloooo..Erick 🙂 Man, I’ve missed you..

  79. rico says:

Hi STV, hope that Wenger gets his chequebook out 😉

  80. SD-London says:

Will we still feel the same way about Cesc even if he stays?

  81. Suhail.TV says:

  82. rico says:

    Morning SD,

I think he is Madrid bound and his comments have made it easier for him to leave England. I say in life, you reap what you sow and cashley deserves all that comes his way…

As for Cesc, my views on him will be down to whether or not he has the balls to come out and tell us fans the truth about what he really wants, we have had all this before with cashley, paddy, henry, hleb, lardy… i’m sick and tired of players lying..

If he wants to go, just tell us and then push off and get splinters i say…

  83. rico says:

    SD, in short, nope 😉

  84. rico says:

reports are coming in that the stains are about to offer 40M for Cesc…

Final day for Laporta I guess….

  85. Suhail.TV says:

what on earth happened to Capdevilla Yday ?? they got a Vinnie jones

  86. Suhail.TV says:

    poor Bobby rico 😦

  87. SD-London says:

    Thanks Rico,
I couldn’t help but thinking ‘that serve you right’ towards Fabregas yesterday when he was on the bench through out.

He definitely had more game play in the European Cup than the world cup, he even scored a winning penalty that took Spain to the finals and now Navas and Jesus are getting more games than him.

Xavi and Iniesta look like they are going to play for 5more years.

    What was Cesc thinking ?

  88. Erick says:

SD london am not sure what I would feel howdy STV its been a while hope all is ok

  89. Suhail.TV says:

True SD, He was a more significant member 4 years ago.. and now some sergios and navases are there..

Sadly Cesc might think that getting in to Barca’s starting XI could catalyze his Spain entry.

  90. Breezy says:

I don’t think Wenger will sign a big name central defender, cetainly not as back up, it will probably be someone we’d never heard or thought about and he’ll be cheap!!!

As for Nordveid, if I recall correctly he played as a Dm at the beginning of his loan spell and as a central defender towards the end of it. Again if memory serves he did well as a Dm but was quite poor as central defender apperently he’s reading of the games is not all that.

I would love it if we signed Annan, he really does look good, but if Cecs stays i doubt Wenger will bring in another midfielder and thats ok I think some of the kids, like Eastmond, wilshere, JET are capable to act as back up to the first team.

  91. rico says:

I wonder what he thinks too, surely he can see that he won’t break up the stains midfield and hopefully he thinks he is better off staying, but, i think he wants to ‘go home’ and will be prepared to wait for his chance sadly…

  92. Suhail.TV says:

Erick.. Am a late comer these days.. so missed. How thae semester started..

  93. SD-London says:

i think the stains must have the worst business model in the history of football(excluding Portsmouth).

Why would anyone buy back a player they sold for £1m for £40M plus?

  94. K-TR7 says:

Koscielny is right footed rico…erick,mi mzima.nakutakia mema katika mtihani wako.kama umekuwa ukisoma kwa bidii, utaona matokeo kwani ukiona vyaelea jua vimeundwa…

  95. Suhail.TV says:

Rico Wenger is not hopeful so far..

  96. rico says:

Breezy, i think your right about the next CH, thats why maybe someone like Taylor, he’d be around the 4M mark or like you say an unknown lump…

STV, agree re he was more important then than maybe now, this season he has been outstanding in some games..

Was that for us or to convince Barca to pay the right amount for him??

His celebration against Villa now baffles me….

  97. Erick says:

STV Thats explains something atleas but it would cost him his form dearly but watever happens its all crap

  98. rico says:

Thanks KTR7, its been quite a topic this morning everywhere…

  99. rico says:

Roy Hodgson is believed to be the new Liverpool manager, poss confirmed today…..

  100. SD-London says:

I dont think playing Eastmond, wilshere, JET an Co. againts clubs like Chelsea , MAn utd, Liverpool,Mancity,Blackburn, Bolton or even Stoke City Bullies will get us wins.

You still need strong ,tried and tested midfielders in big games or we will be fourth again.

  101. rico says:

STV, re your earlier, the spanish player made a meal of it didn’t he??

  102. K-TR7 says:

It was also interesting to see the outgoing barca director,Txiki B,saying they made a mistake in signing hleb as he reminded them of michael laudrup.well they should know they destroyed his career…i made another observation yesterday;torres is the spanish heskey but heskey isn’t the English torres…

  103. SD-London says:

Is it me or are we looking like having more transfer activities in Arsenal compared to the past 3 years?

  104. Erick says:

K-tr7 mitihani bado lakini shule ya shika moto asante kwa kunitakia mazuri kusema kweli watoka wapi ama asili yako? Stv the semester is ok just trying to get the momentum going Rico am baffled just like you 😦

  105. Suhail.TV says:

Right Rico.. That was one of the starling thing I’ve seen from football.. Do you look his face latter..!!

  106. Erick says:

SD true very true but we may not get another new face until 2015

  107. Breezy says:

Oh one more thing I don’t think I want Balotelli at Arsenal, he’s a good player but the baggage!! bust up with managers, players, fans. I really don’t think that it’s worth disruping team harmony (and we know all about that!!!)for what will in essence be a back up signing. I predict that he’ll end up like one Jermaine Pennent player with bags of potential who will ultimately end up as a journey man.

I see we’ve been linked with Trochowski of Germany for about 13 million, doubt it will happen though.

  108. Suhail.TV says:

Erick, mitihani bado lakini shule ya shika moto asante kwa kunitakia mazuri kusema kweli watoka wapi ama asili yako? is what??

  109. Erick says:

Stv that is swahili it was meant for K-tr7 seems we are in a global village

  110. rico says:

Silva is now a Citeh player….

  111. rico says:

STV, I would be ashamed if i were he….

  112. rico says:

Breezy, i think you and many others think that about Balotelli…

  113. K-TR7 says:

I was disappointed in rvp for the way he behaved after his substitution.apparently he wanted sneijder subbed…those two don’t really get along…

  114. rico says:

I now want Brazil to win against Holland KTR7, knowing our luck Robin will get injured.. I guess it shows he cares, but naughty though…

  115. Erick says:

Rico City are getting stronger we need to be alert

  116. K-TR7 says:

Apparently shwarzer has also been offered a gk coaching role to sweeten the deal…

  117. rico says:

Erick, if i had the cheque book you fears would be no longer, trust me 😉

    KTR7, that’s a smart move by arsenal if true…

  118. Suhail.TV says:

Na rico.. dutch to win and robin to get winner

  119. rico says:

STV, i understand where you are coming from, but right now we need every arsenal player to be fit for the start of the season, i suppose though Robin was out for most of last season so he should be ok…. (hopes)

  120. Suhail.TV says:

The thing about Brazil, rico, is that they attack as a group and defend as a group.. a lesson for arsenal(latter one)

  121. rico says:

STV, they seem just one solid unit all over really, just as we ‘used’ to be 😦

  122. SD-London says:

i dont know why RVP behaved in such a manner.
Snyder has being a better player than him in this tournament maybe he is jealous.

  123. K-TR7 says:

Good point Stv.Brazil is like a snake;it appears static but the whole time sizing up its opponent then baam!it bites releasing venom…Brazil have a defence as strong as inter milan’s.they can hold onto the ball very well but when they spot an opening they exploit it with clinical ruthlesness.when fabiano, robinho and kaka get within 10yards of each other in the final third you’re asking for trouble…its also funny that none of the teams in group c have survived, group D have two while the rest have one a piece.England had the easiest group!…

  124. SD-London says:

Brazil; Individually , they are good and now play as a complete unit and everybody knows their job.

Lucio on over lap twice in their last game and watch him sprint back to position after passing to someone.

Terry could not even track back when Barry scuffed the rebound.

  125. rico says:

Are you suggesting Brazil are snakes KTR7 😉

  126. Red Arse says:

Erica, my friend, I am inafanyika katika kuzitwaa wako wa lugha!

    Kuweka juu ya uchunguzi 🙂

  127. SD-London says:

    English Peopls

  128. Red Arse says:

Without that bad boy Wath, the guys have been behaving really well. 🙂

Well at least until MikeB shows up! He is the well known “Gargantuan, epic saga author slayer”. V. wicked 😦

    Where’s Jabber today? 🙂

  129. rico says:

we are all very well behaved here, every day, every now and then we just need a distraction and some humour to keep us upbeat 🙂

  130. Red Arse says:

Quite right too Rico! 🙂 Unfortunately I missed the alpha male this morning.

I think I have stunned Erick with my crap swahili, so on that note I am off again, with my humour in my back pocket, for use later! 😉

  131. oliver says:

morning all. i see ktr7 and sd comment re: rvp sub reaction. he did not have a great game to be honest, but if it were for arsenal, i do not think he would have such a problem. there is history between him and van marwijk, dating back to feyenood, where they clashed several times mostly over playing position and coaching methods. when van marwijk took over the netherlands job, i wondered how relations with rvp would be, given their previous. now we are seeing what feyenoord supporters saw early last decade. those two do not get along, so we may have not seen the last of it – but rvp should be careful, he is giving van marwijk a potential excuse to drop him.

  132. rico says:

morning oliver, seems rvp falls out with a few players, except arsenal ones of course 😉

  133. rico says:

Got to pop out for a while, back later…

    Be good 🙂

  134. SD-London says:

    any news update ?

  135. Red Arse says:

    Hi Avashnee,

Sorry to hear you are unwell. Hope you get better soon. 🙂 I had ‘flu last December and it isn’t pleasant, so I know how you feel.

Do you have a particular dislike of Pique as a CB or is it because he plays Barca?

  136. Red Arse says:

    Hi SD,

    You still there?

Anyway, the only “news” I have for you, is that apparently both Arsenal and Manure want to buy Eduardo, the Animal” from Braga. The portugal goalkeeper is rated at £10m.

Also Arsenal have released 5 Reserve Team players. Sam Byles, Luke Ayling, Rhema Obed, Kerrea Gilbert and James Dunn. This ties in with the post we were discussing yesterday.

  137. Red Arse says:

I would never cross you. Women do have long memories and can be scary to us men. 🙂

I’m feeling a little bit sorry for Pickled Pique now. 😉

Barca do play beautiful football like us, but they are so arrogant, along with Real Madrid, that it is impossible to like them as a club. And that’s being polite. 🙂

  138. SD-London says:

    Thanks Red Arse.
I am not sure about the Eduardo news though because we are always linked with anybody that wants to leave their club.

The media just like doing that because it is general knowledge that we need to strengthen our team and Man city wants to get into the top four.

  139. agirlagunner says:

Hello, all. rico, I really just want a quality signing. Someone with proven pedigree; rather than mere promise.

Ava, sorry to hear that. But if you could please distill that virus, and send a vial to the Spanish camp, I will be forever indebted… 🙂 I detest anythingandeverything Barcelona, too. Pique has hateful DNA. How did you find Busquets? I have never seen any Spain starter pass sideways and backward so many times! I cannot stand him.

Hi, RA. How are you? Knee not paining you, I hope. 🙂

  140. oliver says:

hi agag – i was waiting for you to pop up on the site. i have one question – did you wear yellow today?

  141. agirlagunner says:

oliver, nope. I slept in, but watched everything on the telly. Our housekeeper went to one of the street parties to celebrate the inauguration of the new President though, and has just sms-ed that she is having a hard time getting a ride home. Haha.

  142. oliver says:

i can imagine. i hope the next decade turns out better than the last, although i will concede gma had so many enemies (some of her own making) that it was virtually impossible for her to be really effective. the country has so much potential, it just needs to be harnessed, and individual interests need to take a back seat.

  143. agirlagunner says:

Ava, Spain’s defense is their weakest link. Ramos had a good game, Pique was so-so, but my, how Capdevila playacted! I hope Paraguay wins. The stains need to be brought down a peg or two or… a ladder.

  144. agirlagunner says:

I hope so too, oliver. But the culture of corruption is so ingrained in our politics, I have difficulty believing the new president can make a difference. The Arroyos were shameless. Just when you think they cannot possibly be more awful than they already are, one of them does something worse.

  145. Red Arse says:

    Hi Agag, Avashnee,

I would never, ever want to get on the wrong side of you women! 😦

    Hi to you too Oliver!

  146. K-TR7 says:

Hi all.özil is so skinny and with nasri stealing packed lunches he’ll never beef up…seriously özil has potential to reach the heights of zidane!

  147. Red Arse says:

    I’m with you KT.

Where have you seen him play? The German League, I presume, other than Germany internationals?

  148. agirlagunner says:

Ava, I really hope so too. There is just something really revolting about the players of Barcelona to me. I mean, you only need to look at the mug of Xavi/Busquets to get the creeps or otherwise the compulsion to get a blunt object (or sharp) and finish the half-arsed job.

Or that could just be me. 🙂

  149. Red Arse says:

I’m off girls, in case you substitute me for Xavi, although I must surely be more handsome than him, but maybe not! 😦

  150. oliver says:

agag, the deck is certainly stacked against him. and it is worth remembering that his mother inherited similar problems, but could not do much about them. i think people will discover fairly quickly if he can make a real difference or not. gma and “mikey” need to be held accountable, but noynoy needs to go a lot farther than just them. if he is the only one with a stomach for doing that, then things will remain the same.

    hiya ra!

  151. Red Arse says:

Er, just for clarification, in case Wath is reading this. I missed a comma after “off”.

It should read, “I am off, girls” as in I am going. Not, “I am off girls” as in I don’t like girls!

    Phew! 🙂

  152. agirlagunner says:

Bye, Avashnee. Do us a favor, if you get anywhere near the stains, don’t hesitate to do something I won’t. 🙂

RA, when women say they have an elephant’s memory, they do not do so in jest. An endearment like “chubbycheeks” is a potential landmine. 🙂

  153. Red Arse says:

My lips are sealed! Too cowardly for minefields!

  154. Suhail.TV says:

Hello am back ! but Federer is out!! Clearly his touch has lost..

  155. agirlagunner says:

oliver, exactly! I am not sold on the Aquinos (Kris regularly appalls me), alas, we do not have many options. The type of leadership we need is metanoic, I hope Noynoy proves up to the challenge. Tbh, I have little expectations, he is not a particularly compelling figure. In terms of legislation, he has been poor. Bills and resolutions authored by the man are many; but nothing significant was ever enacted into law. 😦

RA, you do make me laugh.:) 🙂 Catch you tomorrow. Have a good day. 🙂

  156. agirlagunner says:

Hi, STV. How are you? Forgot about tennis… Turning the TV on now…

  157. K-TR7 says:

RA i’ve watched özil plenty of times to make that statement.dare i say it to surpass cesc…surprise, surprise rooney and gerrard pull out of the gladiator competition to be held at the 02 arena.they fear being more exposed of how limited they are.if i was on death row id choose them to be the firing squad as they’ll probably fire blanks and i’d survive with minor bruises as a result of being tied up for so long…!

  158. rico says:

    Afternoon guys and gals,

    I’m back too 😉

STV, just been watching that game, he was well off form, pressure on the jock now 😉

Avashnee, sorry to hear you are poorly 😦

agag, i arrive too late, you have gone 😦

  159. rico says:

agag, oops, not you gone, but RA, sorry..

    TTFN RA 😉

  160. Suhail.TV says:

Am good Agag.. and you?? wt abt Hangover of GG!!!. and what about new president..

  161. Suhail.TV says:

Hola rico beunas noches.. Where you’ve been..

  162. rico says:

Hola STV, good afternoon to you too 🙂

I had to go check the house i’m looking after and do a bit of watering and weeding….

  163. oliver says:

well, good luck agag. if any nation deserves good leadership, it is the philippines. noynoy’s campaign pledges and inauguration address seem to indicate that he understands what the problems and goals are. as i am ever the skeptic, i am just not sure if he knows how to bring the nation to where it needs to be. i really hope this does not prove to be another false dawn…

  164. agirlagunner says:

Hi, KT! It’s my first time to see Ozil, and I have been very impressed. Must sort Nasri out on nicking a teammate’s lunch.

hola, rico. How are you? Busy bee? I was sad over Citeh signing Silva. Another one bites the dust… Next, they will get Torres. 😦

STV, no hangover. 🙂 Gatorade before sleeping does the trick!

  165. Suhail.TV says:

Rico..Agag’s country have got a new president.. and am hoping us to get a good manage…oh no defender

  166. rico says:

Hi agag, tad busy but always around somewhere – got to keep an eye on you motley crew 😉 😉

Silva’s a good bye, Torres is crocked so they can have him 😉 Joking of course, but Citeh won’t get Torres agag, never in a month of sundays 😉

  167. W.A.T.H says:

Hi all…. that includes you chubbycheeks…. Sorry I mean AGAG 😉

Silva will get broken in half playing in the prem league week in week out. Good player but he looks like a 12 year old.

  168. W.A.T.H says:

Ur right Rico Silva is good bye lol…………. 😉

  169. Suhail.TV says:

I’ve never seen this Koscielny.. 😦

  170. agirlagunner says:

I read yesterday’s post and comments again today; everyone was fantastic. If AW is short on ideas, he only needs a walk down Avenell Road. 🙂 He’ll get great ideas, for sure.

It’s Rafa’s fault, Torres is in the condition he’s in. He’s played even before he is fully recovered from an injury. 😦

Villa was great but wasn’t the goal offside?

  171. Red Arse says:

    Rico, mio amore,

If the answer isn’t too vulgar, why does everyone refer to Barca as “the stains”? If it is horrible I will pass. 🙂

Did you see Arsenal lost their case to get Galindo a work permit? But he will still become an Arsenal player from tomorrow, and go on loan with Celta Vigo.

He could be a cracking playeer for us. 6′ 3″, 192 cms, quick and v. skilfull. 🙂

  172. Suhail.TV says:

The interesting thing is that Silva was never a regular at Brazil when he was at his prime at arsenal..and now the Brazilian pptn gives him some strong suit..

  173. Red Arse says:

Sorry Rico, I forgot to mention that the Aussies got 290 for 5. Interval at the mo.

Hi Wath! 🙂 Chubbycheeks yourself. 😉 I would like you to know, for my own safety that I have never called anyone that, despite Agag’s post! You are my first. 🙂

  174. agirlagunner says:

Elephant’s memory, WATH. In fact, I remember you calling me pedantic, before. Over Arjen Robben of all people! 😛

  175. Red Arse says:

Rico, leave the Jock alone and come and chat to us! 😉

  176. agirlagunner says:

RA, you’re back! To be fair, girls remember all the compliments too. I suppose that evens things out. 🙂

  177. W.A.T.H says:

Pedantic chubbycheeks it is then lol 😉

RA, why you looking at my cheeks…? U were far to quick to insert that comma with the I’m off girls comment 🙂 and you thought I wasn’t watching. . . . .

  178. Suhail.TV says:

you are a good cric fan RA.. Just like I was..

  179. W.A.T.H says:

Who’s the jock playing…? I hope he gets creamed. I can’t stand the arrogant little prick…!.

  180. mikeB says:

Hi folks/ Hola and buenas tardes,
On the subject of Silva… what sort of psychological impact do you think his signing for City will have on our beloved pocket general? That, allied to his bench-warming exploits in S.A. might have some sort of cumulative effect. Straws and Camels and all that? Or am I just clutching at one myself?

  181. Suhail.TV says:

Grey goose and Red arse .. RA lookina at GG’s cheek and GG looking at AG’s cheek…sanfdiluwe dm

  182. W.A.T.H says:

Mike i def think your clutchng at straws but thats just my opinion and i kno very little apart from how great GG tastes 🙂

  183. W.A.T.H says:

    ST…………. cheeky 🙂

  184. agirlagunner says:

RA,I don’t remember how it started but I’m sure JJ has an explanation on why Barca = stains.

You are treading on dangerous ground, WATH. :p

mikeb, YKW is just a messed up little foot soldier now. But I hope he stops and reconsider how great a future he has with us and how he is Not All That there.

  185. mikeB says:

    Hi wath,

You have to be gentle with me, I’m not up to speed on all the acronyms yet; by GG I assume you mean you prefer permumed Gins, or is that just my ignorance?

  186. mikeB says:

Sry, that should have been perfumed… not even up to speed on spelling.

  187. agirlagunner says:

Introduce mikeB to GG, WATH… Come on, that’s your expertise.

  188. rico says:

sorry, i had to fix a hanging basket in the garden for the tomato plants 😦 Now i’m pooped…

knew you would see the good purchase WATH 😉

  189. W.A.T.H says:

Mike, GG is Grey Goose the ultimate in Vodka and you’ll have to excuse AGAG as she gets very tipsy on it and drinks it 24/7 hogs it doesn’t share at all and I have to buy direct from the manufacturers simply to get some.

  190. rico says:

Hi mikeB – go take a peep at Laporta in the widgets, see his lower body clothing, that where the stains often are and i’m sure the rest will be clear 😉 😉

  191. W.A.T.H says:

Now ur growing weeds Rico, Erick will be round in a shot….!.

Mike think YKH has already decided but just doesnt have the nuts to come out and say so, maybe this little episode with Spain may make him think again but do we actually want a player who doesnt want to be with us however good he is..?.

  192. rico says:

Murray is 1 set up 3-2 in second set, going with serve again as murray just been broken….

I don’t like the little squirt either, I hope Nadal wins the tournament…

  193. Suhail.TV says:

..and I have to start a production unit back my home 😦 .. Its demand is high when arsenal is playing the new arsenal way.

  194. rico says:

WATH, can i be rude and answer the question you asked mikeB,

NO, flat NO, if he wants out he can take a run and jump and get as many splinters in his bottom as he likes – we need players who WANT to be at Arsenal, who are prepared to shed blood for our club, I always thought Fabregas was one of those especially after his 20 mins cameo against Villa, but now I am no longer sure…

You do not leave the decision about your future in the hands of another person, and his silence speaks volumes…. he a gutless coward in my book right now…

WC or no WC, he could have said 4 or 5 words, I want to stay at Arsenal…..ok, thats 6 😉

  195. W.A.T.H says:

I’m off out, dinner and drinks are calling, be good ppl and take care. Enjoy your evening or day and sleep well AGAG..! Rico no smoking that stuff !! 🙂

  196. rico says:

Oh, and if he confirms he wants to leave but then Barca cant find the funds, if i were wenger i let him help the reserves win their league 😉 😉

  197. rico says:

    Why not????

Have a fab time WATH, hope you get back here soon 🙂

  198. W.A.T.H says:

Spot on Rico………. his silence is deafening….! It’s never happened before he has always said something. Everything u say is sad but true…!.

  199. rico says:

    I’m sad and angry WATH 😦 😦

Dont worry about me though, you go and enjoy your dinner 😥

  200. oliver says:

mikeB, I think Silva’s signing is a good move for City. I think he will do well there, although he may struggle adjusting to the prem. I do not think it will matter that much to Cesc, who (to me) looks resigned to coming off the bench for Spain, barring injury to one of the starting midfielders. All of us see him as a far superior option to that cretin Busquets, but that does not really matter. Del Bosque (and Aragones, before him) see Cesc as a better option off the bench, and this is how it will be. Back to Silva, his signing brings the argument of squad size back. I do not think that City will start culling their existing squad – I am sure some players will be shown the door (does anyone agree with me that they would now unload Ade if they could find a taker?), but I do not think they will get rid of many players that other top teams covet (Ireland, Hart, Kompany, for instance). If Mancini is able to manage this correctly, they will potentially have a deep squad that will allow them to sustain challenges for three domestic trophies and the Europa League. Some players will cetainly be unhappy to not feature in every match, but if he can give his squad players adequate playing time in cup matches, he will be able to keep his best players reasonably fresh. An injury run like Arsenal suffered last season will put that theory to the test, but I think it unlikely City (or any other team) will suffer the number and type injuries Arsenal did. Certainly it is a balancing act – how large or small should our squad be? What sort of mix between experience/youth, homegrown/foreign should our squad have, especially considering the new rules about to be implemented. Would Arsenal be able to afford the quality-in-depth that would lead to genuine competition for most first team places? I think our freak injury situation from last season has made our squad depth situation look worse that it really is. But at the same time, I do not think we have enough quality and/or expereince to provide genuiune competition throughout our squad.

  201. Red Arse says:

Wath, be careful of that MikeB. I’m sure he is an agent or something, out to destroy budding Gigantic Epic-Saga authors, like me! 😦

Agag, I have made two attempts at writing this, and I say it with some trepidation, given your propensity for violence towards weedy males like me.

I sincerely hope I have not caused offence, because to be truthful I have not really given any compliments either.

To speak the truth as you see it, e.g. to remark that someone writes well, is not exactly a compliment, it is a simple statement of fact.

Compliments are tricky things that can sound v.patronising, especially by someone like me, and are to be avoided, if possible, to avoid violence to my person! 😉

  202. oliver says:

i know, i forgot to break it into pargraphs. try not to kill me on it.

  203. agirlagunner says:

rico, it’s YKW and always, I try to be measured in speech. (If he leaves, he’s got it coming…)

WATH, good night! Have a good time but not that good a time, you’d pass out. Take care. Be safe. 🙂

  204. mikeB says:

    Hi Rico, Bye WATH,
    You guys are tough…

It’s a while now since I was his age, but I guess I took some bad advice then too.

I think he’ll stay, and I think he’s gonna lift the PL trophy for us come May.

Bold predictions, or just foolish optimism?

  205. rico says:

RA, i thought it was me on the weed, not you…

  206. rico says:

mikeB – i get what you are saying and i guess you know there is a but coming here…. 😉

my view is, cesc wants out, he hasn’t got the courage to say so, why?? because deep down he knows how much he’s worth and doesnt honestly believe Barca have that kind of money….

so, he says nothing, arsenal say nothing, just in case he has to stay one more season. he and the club want the fans to show no malice towards him…

what he doesn’t realise though is we fans are quite intelligent, we know he always reassures us when this kind of stuff gets in the paps, this time he hasn’t….

  207. mikeB says:

    Hi Oliver,

thanks for that… I now have dots before my eyes, but a good post.

I say Silva is good, not just for City, but for the PL. Not all just one-way traffic to Barca/RM

You do realise that agents now get a minimum of 15%, of all your creative income? Or doesn’t that bother you?

  208. rico says:

agag, i feel the same, i really do, i live by the old say, reap what you sow….

  209. Red Arse says:

Rico, I don’t even know what weed is, let alone GG! 🙂 Wath explanation sounds a bit dubious to me, I thought it referred to Gay Gordons. 🙂 Isn’t that a dance?

Weedy, when applied as a physical adjective means skinny or lean. Evolution has made chickens like me that way for speedy retreat. 😉 See above para!! 😉

  210. mikeB says:

what do you mean… we fans are quite intelligent?
    speak for yourself.

RA… Did you hear what she just said about us?

  211. Red Arse says:

Doesn’t bother me Mike. 15% of sod all is still sod all! 🙂

  212. rico says:

Great comment oliver, as for Lardy, i think i have read that citeh were going to offload him, that may be different now as Robinho wants to leave and Santa is off as well – the fans don’t seem to care for Lardy either.

The one player who would be do well with us is Ireland, if it was a choice between him or Joe Cole, I’d prefer Ireland…

  213. rico says:

ok, you are very intelligent 😉

  214. Red Arse says:

    Intelli … something, can’t even spell,it Mike.

Anyway, don’t try and get make me like you Mike, until you pay up for my lovely saga. I don’t accept your premise that it was a bit hit and myth.

  215. Red Arse says:

Can I be a dissenting voice, please. I think Cesc will be here next season, and probably longer. Have faith. 😉

  216. Red Arse says:

A coward’s sixth sense is kicking in. Agag has gone ominously silent, probably gone to get an implement of RA destruction.

I’m getting my weedy frame out of here. (Well 15 stone, I suppose, no idea what that is in kilos at this time in the evening) but still. 🙂

  217. oliver says:

thanks rico – i would add joe hart to the list of city players i would covet. but i do not think city will sell him for any price. his star actually rose by not playing in the world cup, and based upon his performances for birmingham last season, i would not be surprised if given is the gk that becomes surplus to requirements at eastlands.

ra, i am right there with you. i have stated my position on cesc many times. i am not getting upset because he has not explictly said i am not leaving right now. i think there are many things at work here, things we have no way of actually knowing. i am looking at this without emotion, and see no reason to be angry with cesc. he is still our captain and has never explicitly said that he wants a transfer right now.

  218. Suhail.TV says:

Mike B rico is telling jokes!!

  219. agirlagunner says:

RA, hahaha. Your 5:25 seems to resonates of… real-life things. 🙂 Well some statements of fact are better kept to oneself, I think. Chubbycheeks for example. And for what it’s worth, girls like to be complimented on their smashing shoes. 🙂

rico, I am too invested in our players, barring a few, to ever be completely uncharitable. And so I am keeping it zipped on YKW. This only means, of course, that I’m presently nursing more than a few mean thoughts about him… 😉

  220. Red Arse says:

You put it better than me Oliver, but that accurately reflects my view too.

  221. mikeB says:

I agree with you, not the bit about hit and myth, but the Cesc bit. I think so too.

joking aside, I do think the average Arsenal fan has a degree of intelligence that is above the average for the PL. I also think we see this from most of the more rational blogs.

Although I have crossed keyboards with a few rabid morons on one or two. I just can’t be bothered to swap four-lettered words with negative morons, certainly not for the sake of making a point that they could never see in a month of Sundays.

    Not saying that

  222. mikeB says:

    Hi STV,
Yeah, I kinda got that; strangely enough I was too. but I seem to be having finger trouble tonight, so I’m off to sort it out with a glass of Rioja..

    Best to all

  223. Red Arse says:

I knew I should have buggered off.

Agag I don’t understand what you mean, but I am sure you are right. I am just too thick. 🙂

I think you may be confusing me with that young Wath with the reference to chubbycheeks. To coin an Agag-ism (very puzzled, things getting worse, —- memo from brain to legs ……. run now while you still can.

  224. gunner man says:

let cesc go his hearts always been at barca, look at chelsea they won the lge with players who dnt dream of playing elsewhere, dats the spirit u need 2 win things.also we wont b getting a striker we plat 433 with one striker and u only need 3 strikers(ben, van, cham) 4 this formation

  225. rico says:

oliver, re Hart, i don’t think a player with his quality will accept another season on the bench, he may just ask to leave after the WC is over… 🙂

  226. Red Arse says:

Nite Rico. I might sneak in tomorrow, if no one is looking! 😉

  227. JonJon says:

    nobody else is coming in..

after a year of giving 17 players new contracts, paying off 150mil on a loan and still announcing 46mil profits on the last year we flex our financial might by signing a striker on a free that has got a worse goalscoring record than bendtner and the next pascal cygan..

  228. rico says:

agag, its hard to keep how i feel quiet about YKW, he is annoying me too much 😦

  229. Suhail.TV says:

Bye..bye.. mike B.. Your views are Piquant.. 🙄

  230. rico says:

mikeB, spot on, its gets us nowhere does it, thats why i think cesc is playing this all a bit silly really…

anyway, you have a good evening… see you soon

  231. rico says:

See ya RA, stay off the pop 😉

  232. mikeB says:

    Bye STV,
As for Piquant… now he would be worth bringing in… maybe up-front. I just don’t think Barca will sell him.

  233. Suhail.TV says:

Mee too.. But I dont express it.. and am sure so as many fans.. He reminds cr9 th14 pv4

  234. rico says:

Evening jj, i think we will get one or two yet…

  235. rico says:

we have released five youth players today according to YG’s

  236. JonJon says:

    yeah rico but who??

weve already set our stall out…weve taken weeks to tie up a contract for a defender nobodies even heard of in a crap league in a crap team..

not the ambition of a team that wants to win the PL or CL is it..

  237. Red Arse says:

    Oi Rico,

    I’ve come back for that.

My 3:08 had that in name detail! You no read me? Perhaps you were watering the dogs or something. 😉

Hi JJ, you are spot on.

Got to go properly this time. Nite JJ

  238. JonJon says:

    hi RA bye RA

    hi AGAG bye AGAG 😉

  239. oliver says:

rico, regarding joe hart, i agree that he will not be happy with a place on the bench. however, i think city are now aware of what they have and i think there is a decent chance he supplants given sometime this season. with all there spending, hart is a world-class homegrown player, and i think they will make keeping him at eastlands a priority.

  240. Suhail.TV says:

Allo JOn JOn ,furious as always.. 😉

  241. Suhail.TV says:

The roumous are big but the dealings are Hull like.

  242. JonJon says:

i agree with that point…hart will be desperate for first team football…but citeh will be desperate to keep him…

either way neither shay given or hart will be happy to sit on the bench next year so signing either of them is a possiblity…

if we dont get hart then lets get given..

  243. agirlagunner says:

RA, I am confused too. And I haven’t had any GG at all. 😦

rico, oh, we will have a field day with YKW if he goes. 🙂 In the meantime, I’m keeping schtum (changes mind) (here goes…) YKW makes the case for annoying-ness being contagious. He’s with the stains too much, he’s geting to be as annoying as they are…

Night, STV, oliver, mikeB. A Rioja sounds nice, but I’ve sworn off all things Spanish so…

Bon soir, JJ et au revoir, JJ. 🙂 🙂 🙂 (You beat me to it.) I’ll catch you when you’re less busy.

  244. Suhail.TV says:

    rumours i meant

  245. rico says:

jj, i haven’t a clue, but i feel something is going to happen – it has to….

  246. rico says:

oliver, good point as is jj’s, one or other could be up for sale, out the two, given suits our needs better imho …

  247. JonJon says:

    fromage frais mon petite pois!!

  248. rico says:

thats just it agag, they will all be working on him, its down to barca now i’m sure and whether they have the right money…

  249. rico says:

jj, you been watching too many only fools and horses 🙂 🙂

  250. oliver says:

jonjon, i agree that either of the citeh goalkeepers will be a significant upgrade ahead of the three first teamers we had last season. unfortunately, the only way i think they will sell hart is if spectacularly fails as their first choice. i doubt that will happen and i think they will do whatever they need to keep him. given would probably be easier to get, and i would have no problem with that. but….by all accounts, newcastle united would have done business with us when given finally told them he wished to be transferred. i think the common understanding is that arsene decided not to bid for him. if this is true, i cannot see him being interested in given a couple of years later. i do not think we will get either citeh goalkeeper.

  251. JonJon says:

given said he would have walked to arsenal IF we had made a bid for him..

    i dont think we did..

wenger doesnt recognise keepers as an important position…so not only do i think we wont sign one i also think we never attempted to buy shay..

rico…is by watching delboy that i became so flourescent in francish!!

  252. Suhail.TV says:

    Bye all…………………………..

  253. rico says:

Night STV, have a good one…

  254. JonJon says:

see david villa has gone to citeh..

    takes the piss that..

we announce record profits and while the david silvas are available for transfer we are still scouring the conference leagues for replacements for our best players…

    i give up

  255. rico says:

jj, i just learned to look for pocket watches 😉 😉

  256. rico says:

jj, Silva is too short for us 😉

  257. oliver says:

jonjon, i agree – given wanted to join us, newcastle were willing to accomodate him, i think he would have been a popular signing with gooners. it seems that arsene was the only party not interested. i know given is criticized for allegedly not commmanding his area and having the same basic flaws as our first and second choices. what he does have, however, is vast experience with three premiership sides (dalglish brought him in from blackburn) and first choice for his country for a over decade. those are pretty good credentials and represent a significant upgrade in my opinion. the folly of keeping faith in the almunia/fabianski tandem was there for all to see, last season.

  258. JonJon says:

hes also too good for us

  259. JonJon says:

    its true rico

its a sad fact of reality

arsenal have turned into a club who only average players sign for cos they know they will get a great wage and use us as a stepping stone

the best players dont want to know anymore cos they have more ambition than finishing third..

its the reason AA kicks off all the time..he came to arsenal a world class player wanting to win trophies and hes gradually realised what we are about and thinks its bullshit…

  260. JonJon says:

    im ofskis boys n girls..

  261. rico says:

Ok, but has Arshavin really set the premier league alight??

i still think/hope that things are on the change, the tight old gits have paid off so much debt, now its time to reward those who have stood by the club, i maintain that i will gibe wenger this window to sort things, then, well i think it could be time for change…

  262. rico says:

    ok jj, nighty night…

  263. rico says:

Everyone seems to have gone, so my shift ends too,

    Til tomorrow…..

  264. Adesoji says:

Bring in balloteli, remic,Gary cahill and melo to the team.that would be cool and fame to arsenal team…please Mr Werger..keep Denilson for us we love his way of play.ok

  265. JonJon says:

    hey rico

i think that AA was our best player that season when he came..even though he only played half season..

we were in trouble that year and villa were doing us for fourth…we didnt want to admit it but it was starting to get worrying..

then we signed AA and he put bums on seats scored some mad goals and dragged us over the finish line..

he couldnt do that for some reason this year but i think if wenger can make him happy AA will destroy teams this year…

AA moody, but he world class, but i think its a perfect example of wengers man management..

    he cant handle him…

  266. gunner man says:

wenger is very soft on players, u can c it in arsenals it 2 manu and chelsea, ours looks better but in their game there is less mistakes, reason being the managers r more ruthless. i could c diaby putting in a much more professional shift in at manu and not making half the mistakes he makes with us

  267. oliver says:

rico, john cross has written an article for the mirror regarding cesc. in it, cesc is quoted regarding his feelings about being on the bench for spain and how he tries his best at everything. towards the end of the piece, cesc is also quoted stating that he has not said that he will definitely leave arsenal this season and “anything can happen”. i am sure this will be taken by many as an unconditional committment to arsenal, but i think it falls short of that. we will hear more during the day, i am sure. this may be an opportunity for me to finally write, but let us see how this plays out over the next few hours.

  268. rico says:

    Morning all,

gunner man, i don’t think Diaby could put in a good shift at any club week in week out, he couldn’t even do that for his country…

oliver, thats an interesting comment, the ‘anything can happen’ remains to muddy the waters, like you say though, the next few hours could be interesting – i like the idea that you may write though, looking forward to that 🙂

  269. rico says:

Hi Adesoji, sorry for the delay, we are not around overnight in the UK so your comment was held in moderation, sorry.

Balotelli has far to much menat baggage, can’t see wenger wanting trouble maker..
