Crockin Robin up for sale???

Short and sweet today guys and gals, its a Bank Holiday here in the UK and even blogs need an easy day….!!

Isn’t it about time we actually looked at the situation of  Robin van Persie? He’s continually on the treatment table and maybe its best we sold him and replaced him with a  player who is not injured or injury prone…………

Talent is unquestionable BUT it’s no good being so talented but on the sick-bed for 3/4 of the season…????

Robin van Persie, the most consistent absentee every season. One of the best players at our club, the new Mr arsenal I referred to him as yesterday, but….

When was the last season he played more than 30 games a season?

How much have we paid him to be on the physio bench?

How many times does he miss games for us, yet plays for Holland?

How many times does he get injured for Holland, and in how many friendlies??

Arsenal Football Club need to get back to winning, not only games, but trophies. We need players who are fit, healthy and able to give a lot more to the team than Robin van Persie has been able to give over the last few seasons….

When he plays, he gives us something special, but when he’s missing, which is all too often, we lack something.

How much longer are we going to carry this man??

So, what do you guys and gals think, keep him, or sell him now, before he gets injured so bad he won’t return?

Sick of seeing this sight????

I know how I feel………

wot about crock Cesc, he has been injured for most of the last 2 seasons so r u saying we should get rid of him aswell? we need our best players at the club, full stop!

  2. JoeyGooner says:

    It was just a knock!
    his ok

  3. Mike E says:

    tricky one.

maybe review his status in a year.

we don’t want him and cesc both leaving this summer.

  4. rico says:

Morning all, I’d keep him, just wondered what others view is….

  5. Erick says:

Morning all 🙂 Robin is injury prone but I would not let him go may be add depth on the bench he is indeed the new face of Arsenal

  6. rico says:

morning mike, it is a tricky one as he is costing us a lot of money, but he’s often unfit…

cant see wenger selling him though, especially if we take rosickys situation – look how long he was in the sick room….

  7. rico says:

    Morning Erick

  8. goonerkitt says:

RVP is a MAJOR talent. The day he is sold will be a sad day for the club. He is very unlucky with injuries but I feel we are now adequately covered with the purchase of Chamack.

  9. Ralph says:

Sorry mate but you’re mixing perception with reality.

Whilst it’s true that for a while he was ‘injury prone’ in the last two seasons he’s picked up one real injury which was an impact one and not down to any ‘injury proneness’ on his part.

Lets not forget he was our Player of the Year 2008/09 and played a major part in the team that term.

  10. rico says:

hi goonerkitt – we have ‘numbers’ up front, but we are hoping Eduardo gets his old touch back, Nikki improves, and wenger trusts in Vela… if not, have we really got enough up top IF Robin gets injured again?

  11. rico says:

Ralp, and he’s just been injured again with Holland…. not sure how bad that one is…

  12. crapblogslayer says:

The last time van Persie played more than 30 games for us was the season before last when he played 44 times (38 starts).

  13. Erick says:

Morning Ric’s 😉 the Rodallega confirms that an offer has been made by Arsenal

  14. Erick says:

Vela to wigan and Rodallega to Arsenal

  15. stav says:

RVP is a great player and is one of the few who has always showed that he cares for the Arsenal or at least winning every game he plays….

It’s defo frustrating that he gets injured so much, but if we can one season out of him, we will win trophy’s again.

  16. Ralph says:

Rico – players regularly have ice packs on them when they’re taken off as a precaution. Let’s actually wait and see if he is injured because unless it’s a genuine injury you’re seriously jumping the gun.

  17. Danny says:

You say you would keep him, then ask this rather strange question. This is your site and your instincts say keep him, we all say the same but inevitably some one in ten job will reckon we are better off selling.
Not sure this is going to acheive much.
    Here goes…I say keep him!

  18. rico says:

I saw that one too Erick, surely he wouldn’t be daft enough to make such a thing up would he? Vela on loan??

  19. Erick says:

Is it a good idea Rico?

  20. rico says:

Danny, the site is run by three people, why will it not achieve much????

Its a question that everyone will have a view on, we don’t run a blog just to get an agrguement going… What is the point in that??

I don’t know if you blog through the season, but after Robin got injured, many commented things like, get rid of him, same old same old injured robin, how many more players do we keep who are crocked…. get my drift??

Now its closed season, he regains fitness only to get injured again, its a valid question to which some may think different to you and i…

  21. readie says:

    fab out hart in
    rosiky out harzard in
    silvestr out cahill in
    denilson out flammi back
    edurardo out wigan guy in
    bentnar out huntlaar in
will never happan but would b good…

  22. rico says:

Ralph, jumping the gun???? When it comes to Robin VP and injury, i don’t think that’s possible 😉

  23. gasawe says:

lets do a deal with juventus coz they need him,so that they can realse melo, then 2 look other side 4 new striker.

  24. rico says:

Erick, i dont get why wenger doesn’t play Vela? what is he now, 22? How come Theo gets ‘trusted’ to play week in week out and vela who is pretty much the same age, doesn’t… bizzare

  25. Samm says:

This is to the author of this article, whatever your name is. As much as we all wish he is not vulnerable to injuries like he currently is, he is a classy player that is sought after all over the world of football. Yet he has remained loyal at a time impatient people like you have become so concerned about trophies that you’ve lost all human feeling. If RVP could pay a price to stay fit, he would jump at it in a heart beat. All he needs from us is wholehearted support at in time of difficulty not whipping up sentiments against him. For your information, Arsenal need him more that he needs them and he won’t be short of suitors if we ever make the mistake of putting him on the shelf. AW is surely smarter than that. By the way, all he had was a knock, not unusual for a player recovering from long term injury, and he is back in training!

  26. rico says:

readie, what about almunia, i’d rather he went….

  27. Smudger says:

Chamakh has been brought in as additional cover up front. Robin brings desire, commitment, a love of the club and world-class talent to the team. We are sadly lacking in all of those departments. To suggest we sell him is idiotic.

As for the “fans” who tell you he should be sold, I’m assuming this is the “Arsenal internet fan”, who usually hails from Africa or some other far away land, has never seen a game, and thinks we should accept Usmanov. In other words, they know absolutely nothing, they contribute absolutely nothing, and their opinion is worth (yup, you guessed it) absolutely nothing.

Then again, your recent posts have suggested all the young English players we have are given a chance, Fabregas is a coward and our vice captain and arguably our best player be considered for sale.

Carry on trolling, keep up the good work.

  28. Ralph says:

rico – you’re rather proving my point about the difference between perception and reality.

  29. Erick says:

After Nikky’s comment I would agree with you Readie let him go we can’t take the risk and yet we fail to reap the benefits .True Rico Vela has to be given games or else he will do a Merida

  30. Davi says:

I think this is why chamakh has been signed, he should at least last most of the season. Well hopefully, but eduardo was in no way injury prone before he came to this league.
RVP is every bit as talismanic as cesc to this side, he is a true leader on the pitch and if it werent for his injuries I actually think he could be as good as henry in terms of goals and assists.
So if we’re willing to keep paying his wages, as long as we have good cover for him (which I now think we do) then rvp’s presence in the squad can only be beneficial.
I’ve always said the season that van persie completes a decent number of games is the season we win the title again, but hopefully we will now be able to bypass that issue with chamakh’s signing.
RVP must be treated as a luxury, a player who it’s nice to have around, but someone we know we cant rely on to be there throughout the season.

  31. rico says:

    Top comment Davi

smudger, have i actually said i hope we sell him??

  32. rico says:

Is Nikki been talking again Erick?

  33. Davi says:

“Erick, i dont get why wenger doesn’t play Vela? what is he now, 22? How come Theo gets ‘trusted’ to play week in week out and vela who is pretty much the same age, doesn’t… bizzare”

Spot on rico. How can people be so quick to want to throw away vela when walcott has had many, many times more match-time and still has not proven himself. Once vela has as much match experience as theo, I fully expect him to be a very good player. He has done far more with his time on the pitch than theo already, and in my opinion shows far more technical skill than theo. He just needs to learn how to find space (as theo has done to be fair), which has been hindered by his being moved to a less familiar left wing (not midfield) role.

  34. rico says:

smudger, how can you make such a comment about the type of blogger that is here, you don’t know them so it seems it’s you you knows nothing – just because a fan doesnt/isn’t able go to the emirates week in week it does not mean he/she is a lesser fan….

  35. Erick says:

Smudger am a fan from Africa and I don’t think Robin should be sold so get some sense into your comment

  36. Bob N7 says:

Much as I love RVP, his appearance stats follow a consistent trend. He averages 19 premiership games a year over the last 5 years. Whether he’s been unlucky is by the by, before the start of any season the squad has to be looked at in each area to see whether there is enough cover. If one player averages half the games then obviously those other games need to be played by somebody else. I would love to keep RVP but like last season if we don’t have sufficient cover, his injury record could prove again to be significant.
My view would be to ‘upgrade’ Eduardo and possibly Vela.

    Come on you Reds!

  37. Davi says:

@ smudger – The post is simply to spark a debate. I dont think RVP should be sold, but I can see the logic behind it. He is being paid largely to sit on the sidelines and we really need to be able to rely on him.

  38. rico says:

Davi, wenger does get it wrong sometimes, we have a star little player in vela, he could do for us something similar to what bobby p used to, but you are spot on, he is not a midfielder, neither is Theo, but wenger plays them like they are… and then we wonder why they lack confidence…

  39. Erick says:

Nikky has said he dreams to play for Barca and Madrid i have a feeling he may also dissapoint us

  40. rico says:

    Thanks Davi…

  41. rico says:

Erick, i’d let him go there, not sure they’d want him though 😉

  42. Davi says:

Rico – I think vela will be able to adapt to the left wing role and I agree he could play a role like pires in the future.
I think what destroyed carlos’ confidence earlier in the season was when we had no strikers left, and rather than pick vela, wenger decided to stick arshavin up front. It did work quite well, although I dont imagine vela would have done a worse job, but it clearly knocked his confidence as he didnt play with his usual enthusiasm over the next few weeks. Then eduardo came back and was SERIOUSLY off-form, but still vela couldn’t get a look in.
Theo isn’t a midfielder either, but the WING position does suit him quite well and he has improved since hes been playing there. He really just needs to be more consistent. I don’t have a problem with him, but I think wenger should be balancing a bit more the number of games theo is getting relative to carlos, because he has not shown any greater potential than the mexican in my view.

  43. W.A.T.H says:

Hmmmm interesting thoughts Rico….. Sure to get the odd pathetic reply that your not Arsenal or the like but if you look at his stats he spends far to much time injured than actually on the pitch. There is no doubting his talent or how great a player he is but great players need to be on the pitch not on the treatment table. As for Samm and RVP showing loyalty thats pretty easy when a club pays you to sit on your arse when injured eh…? I’m sure he would rather be playing and that’s not in question but the reality is that how ever good he is he is injured far to much. The question is a fine libe between cashing in on a player we all know is brilliant or do we just say sell and replace with someone who regularly give us 50 games a season and 25 goals..? very difficult..!.

  44. Erick says:

Rico they always wait when a player is at his peak then tapping up start so Nikky will have to wait. Morning Wath its truly a tricky question but for his loyalty i have to say keep him

  45. rico says:

Good point Davi about AA, at least Veal would have given us a ‘bit more height’ (tongue in cheek) but i think that would have been the ideal time to have played him, had it worked we would have had a very confident player on our hands who would be raring for the new season to begin…

Instead we have a player who is consiering ‘opening doors’ at the world cup…

  46. rico says:

Morning WATH, its a difficult one, i love him, i really do but get so frustrated with him being injured so often….

Sentiment and football cannot go together can they, not if we want trophies….

  47. Nura Dabai says:

Hmmm… Another bad news for Arsenal, it is better to sign another forward due to the absence of Rovin, we don’t know what time does the injured take. So far so wish more talented forward are need. Gunner 4 life Nura Dabai.

  48. Erick says:

Next season will be a huge one for Vela we either play him or we loose him Aw has to get this right

  49. Davi says:

Lol, didnt put that quite right. Vela has a really excellent 1st touch and was the only proper striker left in the squad. Plus he did have one good game in europe as the lone forward, I think against AZ where he linked the play well.
People seem to expect him to set the world alight with every appearance, and when he doesnt, they just think hes not good enough. They dont apply the same expectations to other players though. It’s strange.

  50. Erick says:

Davi I have to agree with you people are quick to judge Vela but they don’t understand he needs more playing time to be match fit lets see him at the Wc

  51. W.A.T.H says:

    My apologies… Morning all…….

Sentiment only goes so far Rico, how long do we feel sorry for Eduardo..? Another tough question…!. RVP is one of my favs but in the cold light of day your post brings up many pertinent questions that can’t merely be answered with he’s our best player or he’s the most talented player we have… We all know that… BUT…… We need players like that playing week in week out simple..!.

  52. rico says:

Spot on WATH – but sometimes fans forget what they say here and on other posts having seen that he’s ruled out for months – but when he’s fit they say different…

Its ok if we have the finances to accept him as Davi says, a ‘luxury player’ but the club tell us so often that we won’t waste money… Its doesn’t add up…

Eduardo, indeed, another player who has just signed a new long term contract, but what is he giving back right now, and Rosicky, the same applies with him….

  53. rico says:

Erick, If Vela has a storming WC, one of the big clubs will no doubt make us a silly offer, then watch wenger sell him…..

But no doubt we will be lucky enough to carry on seeing Diaby, Almunia, Dennilson and Flapianski play….

  54. Davi says:

I would consider suarez of ajax a like-for-like replacement for van persie, and I doubt very much he would spend so much time injured.
I think the club has an attachment to robin, and he seems very loyal to us. That might be the biggest reason he is still here.
As for the article overall, the same could easily be said for rosicky as well. He has spent maybe more time out (Im not sure) but his performances, while good overall have not been to the level of van persie when on it.

  55. Erick says:

Apology not accepted 🙂 🙂 some tough decisions have to be made.

  56. Digger says:

If Cesc goes make him captain, I guarantee that he spends less time in the treatment room.

  57. Erick says:

Almunia may be the only keeper who may go Flap will be around for a while.

  58. Erick says:

Anybody know how Theo faired yesterday, i hear Gallas equalised for France what about Triaby?

  59. W.A.T.H says:

Digger….. Can I have that guarantee in writing plz………! He gives us such a different option and makes us 50% more dangerous and yet we all know or we all wait for him to get injured. I suppose the best option is that instead of thinking of replacing him we just get another great striker to compliment him AND have two very good back ups the frustration of him then picking up another injury wouldnt be as bad as teh cover would be of better quality than what we have now..!.

  60. rico says:

Back to the big fella at Wigan then WATH….

    Davi, Rosicky and Eduardo?

Erick, He and England were utter garbage, Rooney was the only player that passed to Theo, he was off at half-time….

  61. Davi says:

theo had an awful game yesterday really.
I hope he doesnt go to the world cup. Dont get me wrong, I want him to do well in his career, but he has been given everything so far in his time at arsenal. He went to the last world cup for no reason, he gets treated like an experienced 1st team player at arsenal despite not really proving himself consistently, and he has a pretty hefty contract for someone who is not yet proven.
I think he needs to face a few knocks in his career to toughen him mentally. In many ways I think he feels he has already made it, this would show him he still has some work to do, and I think it would benefit him in the long run.

  62. rico says:

Off topic a moment, there are a few bits and bobs around suggesting Sagna could be on the move, what do we make of that one??

  63. Red Arse says:

This is one of those discussions where everyone is right. RVP is brilliant. RVP is injury prone. Keep him. When he is fit he is worth it even for part of a season.

Ever thought about why he is so injury prone? I have a theory from watching him since he joined us.

His strenght is his left foot, but it is also his weakness. He kicks with it, he tackles with it, he stands on it. Obvious maybe, but it also makes him excessively dependent on one leg and unbalances him. How many times do you see him falling over like Topsy when tackled? It’s because he “carries” his right leg so all the pressure on his left leg ligaments from kicks, tackles etc cause tremendous strains on it.

The solution seems simple, if I am right, he should be given a “dance” coach to improve his balance and co-ordination. Have you ever seen a professional dancer who is clearly right or left sided? I doubt it.

Maybe rubbish, but watch him next time he plays. Seemples.

  64. rico says:

Hi Red Arse, I have a feeling i have read something like that somewhere before, to do with balance and referring to dancers…

Maybe we should get Craig Revel-Horwood in to help Robin out… and that is being serious…

  65. Erick says:

Sagna that am not worried about may be we will get the best from Eboue who I feel should be ahead of Sagna but thats just me

  66. Davi says:

Erick – agree that eboue has been better than sagna this year

  67. Erick says:

Red arse anything that will help am up for it 🙂 Does that mean Theo won’t make it to the Wc?

  68. rico says:

I think many will agree with you Erick, Eboue is a good right back, when he pushes forward from that position he gathers so much pace – his cross is better than Sagnas as well..

  69. Red Arse says:

Rico I am devastated! To think I have plagiaried some innocent blogger’s (or should that be bloggee’s)comment regarding dancing and ligament strains caused by over reliance on one dominant appendage.

I will never live it down, so I had better hop off.

  70. K-TR7 says:

Morning all.RVP is our talisman and saves our skins 08-09 fans remember AA giving us the final push forgetting how vital rvp was.i believe he can match henry’s greatness if he gets a break.messi/robben were all very injury prone too but their lucks have turned and look at them now…rvp rarely gets muscular injuries like the ones suffered by lil mozart so its abit unfair to compare the two.most of his injuries are contact ones to his ankles and don’t forget his body movements that make him a sublime player to watch also make him suspectible to injuries.he is due some luck and we’ll need to support him.AW knows this and has bought chamakh who will be involved in those physical battles easing the pressure on rvp.go on rvp we have faith in you.i get your point rico but rvp is too rare and special a player to let go…

  71. Farooq says:

Give the lad a chance, he is a class player. There’s no point selling him right now because I feel his best years are going to come thin season. I don’t think its RVP’s fault he is injured all the time there is something fishy about the Arsenal medical team and it has been mentioned by a whole lot of players- Bendtner Arshavin

  72. rico says:

Its a tough one to call Erick, Capello played Lennon on the left first half with Theo on the right, it really didn’t work… To be fair though, the whole team were average, and only won from to own goals from Japan…

Capello rates him and i think will take him to SA

  73. Erick says:

Davi have always wondered why Eboue is played as an attacking winger yet he is more dangerous at right back especially whe paired with Theo

  74. rico says:

Ha ha RA, what i was trying to say is your theory may be right as you are not alone in your view 🙂

  75. rico says:

Morning KTR7, i think that is most peoples view, he is mr arsenal and wenger won’t sell him because of what he can do when he is fit….

  76. Red Arse says:

Have you noticed that both Eboue and Sagna had great first seasons for us and then slipped from those standards subsequently? They seem to have a clear idea of positional responsibilty initially then go “walk about” leaving their wing defensive duties and levitate to the penalty area. This is also true of Clichy.

The result is that any speedy winger either creams them or is able to take time to control the ball and put in good crosses which are Centre Halves have difficulty with. Does anyone know if we have a specific defence coach? Doesn’t look like it.

  77. rico says:

    Hi Faroog

I have a simple theory about our injuries, we don’t have enough depth and strength in our squad, wenger knows it and thats why he doesn’t rotate – he doesn’t need to rotate like The Tinker Man did, and Rafa does, but just giving players a break every once in a while would stop some of the injuries imho…

Oh, and add a bit of stodge to their diet…. 😉

  78. Erick says:

Rico its up to Capello hope he makes it if it will help his confidence. Howdy K-tr7 I echo your sentiments but we need that luck so so bad for a whole season.

  79. rico says:

RA, I don’t think so, on here we have been suggesting Keown or Adams should have the job, Adams has now gone off to manage overseas so he out, but Keown??

Also, I hope Sol stays, he should be looked after and encouraged to stay as coach, or, the easy option, make Bouldy wengers no2 and have him coaching the defence…

  80. Erick says:

Red Arse I can’t argue with that spot on especially with Eboue he did well when nobody knew about him

  81. Red Arse says:

Erick, I can’t tell you how much I want Theo to succeed for both Arsenal and England, well especially Arsenal.

But my frustration mounts when I watch someone with all his potential not utilising it.

He seems to lack confidence, or the arrogance of someone like Ronaldo. He has entered that dread “zone” where every ball is passed two metres or backwards unnecessarily. His crossing also tends to be hit and hope.

He can still be world class but he needs to stop being so nice and “kick ass”, metaphorically speaking.

  82. Davi says:

Rico – we do have enough depth in our squad, its just that wenger never wants to rotate, especially in defence and midfield.
In the successful seasons, the players were capable of playing most games, so rotation wasn’t really necessary, bt a number of the players in this squad are quite injury prone.
RVP and Rosicky were known to be prone before we signed them to some degree; diaby and eduardo have become more injury prone since receiving broken legs; and cesc has become more prone recently I think due to constant knocks he gets during games.
The others just seem to spend a reasonable amount of time out really. I think we do get a few more nasty challenges with a bit less protection than other teams however, and that doesnt help.

  83. JonJon says:

keep robin..but we need another top class striker who can play with him and take the mantle when hes injured..becuase he WILL be injured..

  84. gambon says:

The robin situation definately needs to be looked at.

I dont think id sell him, but i wouldnt have him as our first choice striker. Id sign a top class player like Higuain, Dzeko, Pato and demote RVP to a squad player that gets a look in when he’s fit.

  85. Wanatic says:

We better should sell our medical team! Look at arjen robben for example. He was called the man of glass, injured in every season. But since he playes for bayern his bones and muscles are suddenly out of steel. Look at how many injuries we got last season… I don’t want to see robin playin elswhere, competing a whole season without any injury!

  86. rico says:

Davi, i disagree a tad, yes we have the players in numbers, but the gap between the quality is vast in some areas.

Central Midfield – Song v Denilson
Defence – Gallas v Silvetsre and TV v’s Sol

    Sols done us proud, but

  87. Erick says:

Morning JJ and Gambon seems thats what Chamaka was signed for and Rodallega may also be on his way options up front could be enough

  88. rico says:

Morning jj, i believe wenger knows it to, i think he won’t stop at just chamakh, because all he has done on paper is replace Lardy, i guess it depends on whether or not he is ready to trust Sunu or Freeman whether he gets another striker…

  89. Red Arse says:

Davi, I think you are right about injuries being caused by poor challenges and little referee protection.

Our team is mainly small physically and get bullied by less talented but bigger opposition polayers. The solution? Get some untalented Neanderthalls of our own and bring them on just for the Stoke, Bolton games and scare the bejasus out of them. Again, seemples!

  90. Erick says:

Red Arse next season may be make or break for Theo he needs to raise up and be counted

  91. rico says:

Hi gambon, same i you, i’d keep him if we can afford to, but wouldn’t rely on him one bit to be fit for the whole season, bloody wish he would be though….

  92. JonJon says:

theos garbage..doesnt have anything but pace..

doesnt fit wengerball at all and doesnt track back either..

pointless player..offers little going forward and nothing going back..

and i dont think we have squad depth..wenger doesnt rotate becuase the squad players arent good eough..we burn our first team out and then when the squad players come in they prove they arent good enough by winning 2 games in the last 9 or whatever it was..

  93. rico says:

Who was Robben manager at the chavs Wanatic?

  94. Gooner9 says:

Don’t agree with your stupid article. He played 44 times in 08/09 scoring 20 goals and getting 13 assists!

Fair enough he only played 20 times this season (20 Goals / 8 Assists) but that injury was due to a rash challenge rather than a crocked player … anybody would have been taken out for 4/5 months with that stupid challenge.

  95. rico says:

Robben is only 26????? He looks so much older, now he’d be a great addition to our squad…

  96. Davi says:

Rico – yes silvestre is a bit out his depth and denilson has had plenty of bad games for us.

My opinion on denilson is that he is a good player but is very weak when carrying a knock. I think most of his really poor/average performances have come around the time when it becomes apparent he’s carrying a knock, and would explain his seemingly inexcusable lack of enthusiasm for chasing back. It’s not a great characteristic for a central or defensive midfielder, but at least he has the talent imo.
On the other hand, in almost every game I’ve seen, song noticeably takes a painful hit, and he never lets it affect his game.

  97. Gooner9 says:

    10* not 20

  98. K-TR7 says:

To those saying sign higuain must be having a laugh.he scores loads against smaller sides but when a big game comes around he freezes;he missed an open goal vs lyon.he is a flat-truck bully and we have enough of those.would he or pato adapt to the pl?i doubt it.

  99. rico says:

Jose was the chav manager, when he left, Robben left – no doubt he will be getting Robben to join him at Madrid then….

  100. JonJon says:

the fact that gazidis was talking about this GPS system proves our medical staff are years behind other teams..

chelsea have been using it for 3 years..

we over train our players, and then burn them out through the season..bring them back too early cos we ‘need’ them and then scratch our heads as to why we get so many injuries..

  101. Davi says:

JonJon – I think some of our players are naturally more prone to injury than in other teams, but I agree thre is definitely something wrong with the medical staff

  102. JonJon says:

denilsons a good technical player, but he doesnt have the strength or the pace or the desire to be a defensive midfielder…

hes basically a poor mans cesc..he can keep the ball but he doesnt try anything creative..hes another pointless player who offers the side only one thing when he plays..

  103. Erick says:

    Jj ouch thats sharp

  104. rico says:

Davi, i really dont rate Denilson one bit, imho he is slow, passes sideways too much, doesn’t track back, doesnt really get stuck into a tackle….

I hope we get another player like Song, I don’t even care if iv’e never heard of him as if he has the kind of attitude that Song has, that will do for me…

Same all over the pitch really, I don’t care if Ive not heard of anyone Wenger buys, although it would be nice to have a big signing or two, but if the players he gets have the right attitude and fight for the shirt they wear and do the business on the pitch, i’m happy…

  105. Davi says:

JonJon – denilson has had plenty of good games, a couple in victories against man utd are notable. He can be great for that more forward defensive role (ie with song behind him) as he does read the game well and makes interceptions and tackles. Too often though he just looks out of his depth, and I think thats cos he lets these little knocks get to him.
I can sympathise cos I used to have back problems, and there were times that, although it didnt hurt that much, I was afraid that if I really sprinted, it would just go on me again. That said, if you want to be a world class midfielder, u have to fight through these things, like song does.

  106. Red Arse says:

Jonjon having read your piece I am so dsepressed I think I might have to go and cry.

Seriously, it’s not all that bad. Just think what Arsene has achieved on a shoestring.

Most other team fans want to watch Arsenal play if their own club is not playing. We still finished above everyone, except Manure and the Chavs, even though everyone spends more than we do. (And I think we should have won the premier this year until the inexplicable collapse against the Spuds and Wigan at the end).

Just wait until the Board give Arsene some proper dough to spend, we will rule the world!

    There! Feel better now?

  107. W.A.T.H says:

JJ on his fav subject…. poor little theo 🙂

Sagna and Ebooooie both have little or no cover in front of them though in the 4-3-3 system hence they look far worse than they actually are……

We may have depth in number BUT def NOT depth in quality to rotate a little.

  108. Davi says:

Moussa sissoko sounds like the ideal midfield signing imo, but I think diaby is getting close to the perfect 3rd man in midfield.
His “poor” performances at the end of the season were nowhere near as bad as ppl made out, and he was learning to play song’s role so we have adequate cover, which obviously isnt natural to him.
He will be very important to us over the next few years imo.

  109. rico says:

The GPS thing is interesting jj, it was bought in at the chavs the year that jose left?? maybe he burned players out just like we have been doing which caused them to look at GPS?? Maybe Jose didn’t like the idea and left??

  110. Davi says:

RA – the collapse wasnt inexplicable, we just reached that point where one too many players were injured.
At the start of the season I would have named song, fabregas, arsh, van persie and gallas as our most important players, and vermaelen became one as the season wore on, and at the end of the year all of them were out, although song and vp came back really once the title challenge was pretty well over.

  111. JonJon says:

denilson would do ok in spain..keeps possession but doesnt like the physical battle..

this is the english league though..its the most physical in europe and always has been..

no point blaming all the thugs in the league for players like denilson not fitting in..

you either have the desire to play against them or u dont..managers are not going to say ‘oh denilsons playing today, lets be gentle’ are they..??

wenger had it right years ago mixing strength with ability..but hes moved away from that on a one man crusade to change the way the english game is played and hes just walking into everyones hands..

  112. K-TR7 says:

Sagna is a very good old fashioned rb but eboue is more of a put it simply sagna can mark to attacking players without getting ripped a new defence he has been very consistent since he came but this new system exposes him forward-wise which is quite unfair considering how solid he is in defence.

  113. rico says:

Agree, WATH, RB & LB is the two position we have depth and strength imho…

Oh and maybe on the LW with AA, Traore, Rosicky… but no, we have to watch Diaby!!

  114. rico says:

My point in my last comment, if we let Sagna go, we lose that depth…

  115. Davi says:

JonJon – I suppose I agree on denilson. He needs to toughen up mentally if he’s going to be a success here.
I just sympathise with his situation, but he cant afford to feel sorry for himself if he wants to be a top class player in this league.
I dont think his lack of strength is quite such an issue as his lack of tenacity at times, as long as we do have the strength in other areas of the team, which is why song and arguably diaby are so important.

  116. Erick says:

Diaby said he does not like playing DM he likes the advance role better he has already made up his mind

  117. rico says:

Gooner9, thanks for your comment, but i really don’t care if i’m honest 😉

  118. Davi says:

When did he say that erick? It sounds like something he said a while ago. He was certainly putting in the effort defensively this season, even if he needs to improve a bit to do the job anywhere near as effectively as song.
I heard france were also using him there in training, I suppose in case they need extra cover there now that diarra is out.

  119. Red Arse says:

I remember when Arsene first arrived. After initial suspicions, Tony Adams, Keown, Bouldy etc all raved about how he extended their careers because of his revolutionary “warm up, warm down” techniques and his physio team.

I don’t know where all this criticism of the backroom medical staff came from. Does anyone know who these guys are? Have they changed so much over the years? If no one knows, then we could all be blowing wind because of unfortunate injuries compounded by dreadful injuries caused by reckless tackles on Diaby, Edu and Rambo?

  120. W.A.T.H says:

Seems gooner9 forgot about the seasons b4 and all the injuries 2……… Ppl should take off the blinkers and actually read whats being said..!

  121. Red Arse says:

Rico, I’m not clear how this GPS thing works. Do they attach something to the players to show them where to go (like in a car)? O.K. unlikely, or does it simply track them?

Whichever, (I suspect it is a tracker to record their movements and the amount of energy expended) how does it help?

  122. Erick says:

Davi before the game with Tunisia he said it and also lamented that Diarra was the best option in that position

  123. Davi says:

    Ok, fair enough.
He seems to put the effort in though.

  124. Red Arse says:

Quite right W.A.T.H, It’s O.K. for Gooner9 to disagree with the article, but to call it “stupid” is sadly more a relection on him.

An article cannot be either “stupid” or “clever”, they are adjectives describing human attributes. He might think the author is stupid but on what grounds does he base his assessment? But then who cares?

  125. rico says:

Thaks guys, for every ten good comments, there’s always a ‘gooner9’ one – i must pop onto his blog…

  126. rico says:

I dont know how GPS works – anyone else know?

  127. JonJon says:

they attatch something to the player and it monitors how far they can monitor tiredness whether the player is running on empty or is still running normally and they can pull them out of training avoiding niggles if they tired

something to do with whether the player is running on tip toes or flat footed..increasing strain on the ligaments..

atheletes use it and teams like chelsea have used it for years..

  128. rico says:

denilson’s will switch off jj through lack of movement to monitor 😉

  129. W.A.T.H says:

JJ spot on it somehow monitors if your on ur toes how your running etc etc….. Also RA noone is doing defensive coaching……… can’t you tell 🙂

  130. JonJon says:

denilson gets outpaced by refs, rico..

the gps will always think hes injured.. 😉

  131. rico says:

    😆 jj

Do they wear these things during a game then? diaby will trip over his wire, and if it rains his hair will frizz with the electric…..

I digress, get back to footie rico 😉

  132. rico says:

Am I right in thinking all the England squad travel home today and wait for the phone call on the squad news?

And tomorrow Joe Cole will be announced as our second signing after undergoing a medical tomorrow morning??

  133. JonJon says:

    diaby looks funny..

hes like a cross between huggy bear and viv anderson..

  134. Erick says:

Ha ha ha ha ha you guys leave the Double D boys 🙂 🙂 Davi he will indeed be playing there for france so he better get it right

  135. JonJon says:

    i hope so rico

i like cole..hes technically the best englishmen there is..and he can actually dribble..

jack reminds me of him but jacks still at an age where hes dribbling down his chin so joe will be a good tutor for the lad..

cole was wasted at hoof it to drogba chelsea..he’ll flurish in a team like arsenal..

  136. JonJon says:

if diaby would apply himself he’d be a monster..he’d be better than vieira was..he as all the attributes apart from the mental one and that cant be taught..

    he pisses me off..

  137. Erick says:

If Theo gets into the squad Bolts should be ready to defend his title in the 100 M dash

  138. JonJon says:

i have my doubts theos going erick..capello likes theo but i think hes starting to realise hes got better options..

to be honest i hope he doesnt might sort him out and make him work harder..

  139. rico says:

    😆 jj re jack….

  140. JonJon says:

did anyone know that adebyewhore was faster than theo..

although we never saw it..until he scored against us.. 😉

  141. rico says:

i think he’ll go jj, then capello can take all the credit for turning him into a great player 🙂

  142. W.A.T.H says:

JJ thats rubbish mate I am quicker than Theo and barndoor… you should of seen how quick I was to get from my chair across the lounge to the TV to put my foot through it after he scored against us…! Nuff said…!

  143. SammyNelsonsPants says:

What a crap article. Good for the clicks though eh?

    RvP: Seasons: 6, Apps 197, Goals, 73

    average apps per season: 32.8

seasons with less than 30 apps: 2

    For sale? Nyet.

    Don’t be such a muppet.

  144. JonJon says:

wath i was there for that should have seen how quick i was when i dived from row z to row A waiting for the tosser..

i was like a twinkle toed ninja..

  145. rico says:

you two should go to a game together, when you do, can i come too please 🙂

  146. rico says:

sammy, and you just added to them, thanks…

if its that crap, why do you waste your time commenting…

if theres a muppet, go look in the mirror chum, you’ll see it!!

  147. Erick says:

Jj and Wath that guy can’t run to save himself, Citeh will get rid of him soon

  148. Erick says:

Pants your name says it all

  149. rico says:

    😆 Erick…

AC Milan want Lardy Erick, mme, didn’t we hear that when he was with us… Might make Flamini start packing his bags though if he thinks Lardy is after a reunion….

  150. JonJon says:

    stats stats stats..

nelson, rvp never goes a full season and they aint just little injuries he misses months..

even though i dont think we should sell him its far from a crap article.

  151. JonJon says:

i said about ade at the time hes one of those players that will have about 20 clubs before hes 30 and then finish his career at bolton or galatasary

  152. Davi says:

Fabregas – 264/6 = 44 appearances per season on average. You dont think that’s a significant difference?

And van persie has played less than half the league fixtures twice since he joined, and never played 20 league games. In fact, he averages under 22 league games a season. Do you think that’s enough for someone who is arguably our best player?

The other thing is that he usually takes a while to get going when he returns from injury as well. And when he does get injured the side relies on him so much that it takes us a couple of games to adjust to playing without him.

  153. Davi says:

    never played 30* league games

  154. Red Arse says:

Rico, Sammywhatnot has given interesting info if it is correct. It all helps to inform our opinions.

Pity he has to introduce the personal invective, best not to rise to the bait. It’s easy to criticise someone else’s article, not so easy to be creative and write your own. I suspect he knows that.

  155. JonJon says:

im off for a bit doggy needs a walk she needs a barca..

  156. K-TR7 says:

Mourinho has been confirmed as the new madrid manager.he is their 11 th manager in 7 seasons…as a result they have won 2 liga titles and not gone past cl last 16 stage.

  157. W.A.T.H says:

JJ stop nicking my sayings or my dog will get the hump with u…!

  158. W.A.T.H says:

I’ll wager they get past the last 16 next season KT…….!!

  159. rico says:

RA, i just laugh nowadays when people have to insult, its they who make themselves look silly 😉

    later jj

11 in 7 ktr7, i am so glad we are not a club like that…

  160. rico says:

And win La Liga WATH, he won’t mess around, wonder which players are gathering all their belongs as we speak…..

might be a few bargins out there…. 😉

  161. W.A.T.H says:

I reckon def a few madrid players got their houses up 4 sale already with their P45’s in the post and a with love from Jose message……

  162. Red Arse says:

Davi, sorry to be a bit slow with keeping up, but you are right that the nnumber of games a player misses thru injuries is not the full picture.

Every time it happens someone else needs to come in and get up to speed (just like me) and then they are out again and the injured guy comes back in and then goes down injured again. Diaby is an example, he plays like Okey Cokey, in out shake it all about. Now now Rico. Disruption then affects other players and the ripple affect can be disastrous.

A long winded way of agreeing with you, Davi.

  163. rico says:

Reckon you could be right WATH, i’d laugh if he does get Gerrard, Cole and Lumpard

  164. W.A.T.H says:

I’d rather he made a very public go get me Cesc at any costs announcement…….. lol that would really piss those tossers off down the rd….

  165. rico says:

I would love it, that might wake barca up and stump up the right money, if they really want Cesc of course…

  166. K-TR7 says:

I reckon mou will surprise many by playing attacking footy with the players he has.he adjusts to the league.he even said kaka eats up space and that since cr9 and kaka are good in one on one sitiuations he will ensure they get as 1 v 1 many can interpret it as counter attack but we’ll have to wait and see…guardiola has won 4 el classicos in a row but the record is soon going to end.messi may score 50 goals but there are 2 games in the league which he won’t…guess which…

  167. W.A.T.H says:

I think ur right K-T………… We know Jose will strangle the shit out of el crapico’s from now on and the dung from catalunya ain’t gonna get it all their own way from now on…!. Come on Jose offer us 70mill for Cesc……… thats a decent opening bid 🙂 he would also know how much that would piss them off as well lol

  168. K-TR7 says:

I bet you wath mou will get benzema into top shape first.he can be his ‘drogba type’ striker that he is a dream come true for him,he has two former WPY players in his squad.that madrid side racked up 96 points in the first year of the neo-galacticos project;imagine what machine he will create!…id love to see mou’s celebration after winning at the nou camp…it will be priceless!

  169. Red Arse says:

I love your style W.A.T.H., I vote we put you in charge of negotiations and wind ups.

My problem is that I dislike Moaniho with a passion, even if all the women love the goodlooking, charming and witty so and so. I don’t know why.

As Bessie Braddock once said to Churchill “you are a terrible drunk”, to which he replied “but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly”.

In the morning JM will still be handsome while I will still be ugly. Now you can see why I dislike him.

  170. W.A.T.H says:

RA…….. why thank u 4 the compliment I shall indeed be head chef n bottle washer of the wind up and piss ppl off brigade… first on the list are the catalunya madrid wannabee’s………. Maureenyo ain’t my fav either but he sure know’s how to get under ppl’s skin and you know the first ones he gonna go for are gonna dung ppl from the camp Nou….. it could well be fun watching…! As long as he offers 70mill for Cesc as a side show lets the games begin.

  171. silent stan says:

clearly you wrote a vacuous article because you had nothing else to write about

  172. Red Arse says:

Excellent W.A.T.H, now what are you like vis vis old purple nose at Manure?

You could be our secret weapon next season!

  173. agirlagunner says:

    Hello, all.

This is easy, rico, unlike our keepers (who deserve a boot in the nether region), Robin’s a keeper!

Hola , RA! I hate Maureen with a vehemence that cannot possibly be healthy. And I cannot stand his artfully rumpled hair. But if throws a spanner in the Cesc to Barca (sniffs) works, I’ll love him forever.

And WATH IS in charge of the wind-ups. And the GG rationing.

    Hello, WATH!

  174. rico says:

silent stan, maybe today was the day you should have stayed silent – read it again, see the point, its a valid one, did you actually get passed the heading????

  175. Red Arse says:

Silent Stan, I would not want to upset a person of your intellectual perspicacity, but you should take your nom de plume seriously.

  176. rico says:

Morning agag, i would sell him either, not for all the tea in china, but….. i just wish he wouldn’t be crocked so much…

Dont worry about your hatred for Jose, i feel the same, good looking???? Nah, He’s just smarmy and arrogant 😉

  177. Red Arse says:

Agirlagunner, I have missed you today. If it’s not too forward could I refer to you as AG. I get out of breath typing Agirlagunner (damn I’ve done it again).

Your sentiments regarding JM mirror mine exactly, but I think W.A.T.H will prove to be a match for him.

  178. JonJon says:

    nom de plume..

  179. Red Arse says:

Rico, I have just twigged Agag refers to (here we go again, deep breath) Agirlagunner. Sorry.

Did you miss a “not” in your first sentence to Agag?

  180. JonJon says:

    i hate jose..

but i hate the burst abcess more..its the lesser of two evils for me..

  181. W.A.T.H says:

Hi AGAG….. How’s you ?? where u been I missed you and now RA is getting in a tizz with ur name…! Yes I am indeed in charge of all rationing of GG but wind ups are not on ration at all…

RA I am as we speak hunting hi and low for hair-dryers to be sent up for red nose to throw around next season, I also sent some hankies for him explaining that his nose should not be allowed to run so much and he must stop “cuffing’ makes hi hooter go red….!

  182. agirlagunner says:

rico, interestingly enough, my one success story in getting a girlfriend interested in football involves RvP. I told her “Watch him” (He was taking a freekick against some midtable team back in 07; I wanted her to be dazzled by his technique; she was dazzled by his good looks, instead. But fine, I’ll take a convert over a non-believer any day.)

LOL, RA. AG/agag will do. We don’t want you running out of breath. I reckon you’d need that extra inhale for when when D&D are are mucking about in our pitch. 🙂

  183. rico says:

no i didnt RA, i asked a question and then answered it myself –

RA – are you the ‘English Language Police’ on here today 🙂 🙂

  184. rico says:

agag, don’t tell anyone else, but it’s RVP’s thighs, take a peep – oh, and Sols 😳 😳

  185. W.A.T.H says:

    Rico………. Sol’s red cheeks I take it……..?!?! Hussy…!

  186. Red Arse says:

W.A.T.H, I think I’m going to regret this but what the hell is GG (Gobbledee Gook?).

I had to smile at your hairdriers/hankies allegory. Perfect.

  187. W.A.T.H says:

RA………. Welcome to the world of -!! GG….. Grey Goose, the greatest Vodka on the planet and AGAG and I partake is consuming copious amounts of the stuff when force fed at having to watch the dreaded D&D in Arsenal shirts….!

  188. agirlagunner says:

A girl after my own heart, rico. A girl after my own heart. Cesc’s accent and puppy dog eyes do it for me though. (Fans self)

RA, WATH is a match for anyone.

WATH, Fergie’s post-nasal drip is permanent. How are you? Been behaving I see. You haven\t wound up rico today though.

  189. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG, the day is but young and Rico’s time will come…. Until such time you have my undivided attention but NOT free reign on the GG supply 😉
    I always behave AGAG… always…!

U and cute and puppy dog eyes…. oh dear where ever next, u never say that about me you know…! 😛

Rico, I just kno u love Sol’s rosy red cheeks….!

  190. Red Arse says:

Humble apologies Rico, I seem to have inadvertently upset you. No, I am not really interested in questioning or policing use of language.

I am interested in your comments and I was not clear what you meant. “I would sell him either, not for all the tea in China” simply caught my eye. I wondered if there was a “not” between “would” and “sell”, that’s all.

I did not mean to cause offence and before you tell me to F Off, I will.

  191. W.A.T.H says:

I kno it’s a little off track of “cute n puppy dog eyes and cute cheeks” BUT has Joe Cole signed yet…?

Hmmmmmmm thought not……….. Ok sorry just wondered I mean the Daily Star did say today…!.

  192. W.A.T.H says:

    I’m wondering RA………… Hope ur name isn’t a connection to Fungusbums Red Nose…..!! Are u2 related at all RA & RN…? 🙂

  193. rico says:

RA – please chill, you have not upset me at all, thats why the little smilie after the comment – we talk arsenal here, but we like fun along the way, especially when its the silly season…

  194. rico says:

Oi WATH, keep up please, my comment earlier, which you obviously didn’t read says its tommorrow Joe Cole is supposed to be inking his deal with us

  195. agirlagunner says:

Haha, WATH. But do you have puppy dog eyes? And can you say drama school stuff like “My leg is broken– and so am I” (Cesc Fabregas, The Sun) with a straight face? Hmmm?

RA, I highly doubt rico was offended. She was just teasing. 🙂

No, we haven’t signed Cole yet. It can only be a good thing though if he does.

  196. W.A.T.H says:

Puppy dog eyes AGAG………… Hmmmm do I look like a soppy arse when drunk is what u mean and do I talk with a silly accent…… Hmmmm def not….! It’s fine though I know ur only trying to play hard to get…!.

Ur demented Rico the Daily Star quite clearly stated “Yesterday” thats Cole would sign for Arsenal today…! now PLEASE keep up or go get ur bi-focals…!

  197. Suhail.TV says:

    Helloooooooooo ……… all…!

  198. rico says:

He’s in Austria, its Tuesday he signs 😉 😉

  199. agirlagunner says:

WATH, when you’re all puppy dog eyes and spanishfied, I’ll send you a bottle of GG. 🙂

Laporta’s just full of barcas, isn’t he? Talking about Cesc again. Tontopollas!

  200. Red Arse says:

W.A.T.H, please take your time to answer my final question. I have taken a shine (a very heterosexual shine I must say) to your gently ascerbic prose and pithy comments.

Red Arse is a reflection of my teams colours and an abbreviation of the name. A little unfortunate, I would reluctantly admit. There is no anatomical reference at all. That being said, I would agree there is a perfect and beautiful symmetry between old RN’s face and my arse.

Now the question is coming up, I have been wondering what W.A.T.H stands for.

Please don’t tell me it stands for We Are The Hotspurs!

So, what does it stand for? Ta Ra!!!!!

  201. agirlagunner says:

Hola, STV!! Been a while, you. Where have you been? Hols?

  202. rico says:

STV, where have you been buddy, we have been talking about you, i was going to email you to check you were still breathing – phew, now i know you are 🙂

  203. Suhail.TV says:

hola gunner girl.. you.. missed too..! Exams,.. a trip and a few off days all kept me dormant.. back to here… am clue less.. is fabregas really going to go ..

  204. JonJon says:

rico is it just me or does Redarse remind you a bit like London???

  205. W.A.T.H says:

If you want me spanishified AGAG I’ll go bath in Olice Oil…..!

Ah well thank you for the answer RA and I’ll be sure to pass on your comments to Red Hooter when I hand him his hankies and Hairdriers….!

As for wath nothing so dramitic I’m afraid it purely lost in translation… Means WHAT….! 😉

  206. rico says:

JJ, now that is spooky, yes he does 🙂

  207. Suhail.TV says:

rico i went to mars for a change and I cant find any return shuttles cause of a volcanic erruption there……..! hope you fine so as your dogs..

  208. rico says:

RA, thats normally because his comments leaving you thinking …. WHAT, the heck is he on about… 😉

  209. agirlagunner says:

See what happens, when you’re away too long, STV? The Enemy is thisclose to spiriting away El Capitan. That is why the silly season is sillier than usual; we are going mad for fresh blood!

RA, sadly your little foray into onomastics has yielded such a prosaic response.

Haha, I am kidding WATH. A WATH by any other name would not smell as sweet. 🙂

  210. rico says:

JJ, do an IP address check 🙂 🙂

  211. rico says:

STV, all fine thanks, you have been missed here big time, it really is good to see you back – you didn’t bring any midgets from mars back for arsene to sign did you 😉

  212. Suhail.TV says:

agag wenger and el captano could engulf fans like us in GG SS..

  213. W.A.T.H says:

Ah AGAG u say the nicest things ;-)Not sure about olive oil smelling nice though……….? 🙂 I’ll stick to the aftershave…!

  214. Suhail.TV says:

WHY Mr Wenger demands 80M for fabregas. am not sure if spend even 8M or less.

  215. Red Arse says:

Agag, I did not know I was into onomastic research until I came into the world of Avenell Road. The need to know the origin of words in a specialised area (Arsenal in this case) is a bit scary.

I think I am totally out of my intellectual depth.

Rico, where ARE you when I need protecting?

  216. rico says:

STV, he is showing that Barca can’t take us for a ride, if they want him they can have him for the same price as Madrid paid for Ronaldo… Otherwise they can take a run and jump….

To be fair though – i think we will accept around the 50M mark..

  217. rico says:

RA, if you want my help, you’ll have to write something I understand 🙂 🙂

So, are you London is disguise RedArse?????

  218. forza forza says:

does anyone know when they announce the england squad

  219. rico says:

WATH – Olive OIl with herbs smells lovely 😉

  220. forza forza says:

rico any news on the j.cole rumours

  221. forza forza says:

    afternoon all where my manners

  222. Suhail.TV says:

    bye all… u in 2 days

  223. forza forza says:

  224. agirlagunner says:

Hello, forza forza. I haven’t the foggiest. TBH, I am not keeping tabs on the situ!

    See you in two, STV.

  225. Red Arse says:

Jonjon, what or who the heck is “London”? I can’t remind you of the city, can I?

I am beginning to feel like a fly having his wings pulled off. Yeuk.

  226. JonJon says:

    red arse

london was a blogger rico and me used to blog with..

    you have the same mannerisms..

    which ist a bad thing..

  227. W.A.T.H says:

That mean u wanna end up cooking me on the grill Rico… thanx…

  228. JonJon says:

id love to kick laporta in the nuts..

  229. rico says:

Afternoon ff, tomorrow i think re england, and no news re joe cole, it has been said by a very reliable source (WATH) he was due to sign today 🙂 🙂

STV, see you soon buudy, be safe

  230. rico says:

WATH, with a nice pitta and chilli sauce, a really hot one 😉 😉

RA, as jj says, it is not a bad thing, totally the opposite, I miss London 😦

  231. W.A.T.H says:

JJ…………… Calm down, fooo schwaaaaaaaaaaaar foooo schwaaaaaaaaaaaaaar……… Rather put his nuts in a vice and then attach said vice to the national grid……….! 🙂

  232. agirlagunner says:

WATH it means rico thinks you’re prime rib. (as opposed to lunch meat?) (I’m just full of compliments tonight, aren’t I?)

Please do JJ. Or in the words of KTR7, tear him a new one. 🙂

  233. W.A.T.H says:

Oh great thanx Rico, now I’m a bloody kebab….!

  234. Red Arse says:

Jonjon, I can’t believe there is/are two of me.

Rest assured I am NOT the dreaded London. That’s twice today Rico has thought I was someone else. First I was “anyone” and now I’m “London” and bad.

Well I am not he but I recognise bad and I will not darken your doorstep again. Actually, what is bad?

Never mind, I’m too sensitive to want to know.

  235. rico says:

Oi, nothing wrong with a good kebab WATH, especially when you’ve had a few beverages before hane 😉 😉

  236. W.A.T.H says:

Thanx AGAG I’m really so chuffed that at least I’m not a chipolata………. 😛

  237. JonJon says:

we should have an arsenal enemy number 1 in the widgets rico.. 😉

    the burst absess awards….

we should also have the denilson award where we update it weekly and the winner has the best opta/castol PL stats.. 😉

what about a who ate all the pies award???? tom hundredstone should win that one but samir aint far behind..

  238. rico says:

What makes you think London was ‘dreaded’ RA? certainly wasn’t/isn’t in my eyes…. not jj’s….

I think you are a tad too sensitive, so was i once in the blog world, but not anymore 🙂

Darken our doorstep, they are your words AR, they never would be ours….

  239. rico says:

Leave it with me jj, it will be there in one minute… 🙂

  240. Brad says:

i think you are right van persie injured to much and most of the injurys are for holland and i think we should get rid and spend money on player just as good

  241. rico says:

All done jj, but it needs a picture and i dont know how to do it – don’t know if ave does, but he doesn’t seem to be around thes days 😦 have you heard from him?

  242. rico says:

😳 sorry, do you know jj??

  243. W.A.T.H says:

Samir fat JJ………. Hmmmm think your being a tad harsh on the young lad…!

  244. JonJon says:

he does seem to be carrying a few extra pounds these days WATH

    i’ll have a properganda rico 😉

  245. rico says:

Thanks JJ – i think both Nasri and Dudu have the biggest butts in our club…. AA is just a little way ‘behind’ them both 🙂

  246. W.A.T.H says:

Maybe he has found a liking for these english breakfasts…………..

  247. rico says:

Brad, I think you are the first to out and out suggest we sell Robin, sorry though, there is no prize for this first 😉

  248. W.A.T.H says:

Well as long as Sol aint behind any of them they are ok………..

  249. agirlagunner says:

Oh do return, AR. (agag is at a loss for words)

WATH, Sami has put on weight. He’s not like porkers or anything but let’s just say there’s noticeably more of him to love. 🙂

I am off! Good night, all!

  250. Russ says:

I think RVP has been unlucky with injuries. A cardiff player stamped on his foot and broke his toe in 2006, next season he broke a metatarsal scoring against Utd. 2008\9 he was pretty much fit all season and least year he was injured in that fecking friendly from a bad challenge. He’s been unlucky and picked up knocks and strains etc when coming back to full fitness after nasty injuries. Same as Eduardo.

If we’re talking about getting rid of players who are constantly injured than look no further than Diaby and Rosicky. Bloody hell have those 2 ever played 3 consecutive games for us?!

  251. Dutchgunner says:

RVP is one of the only Arsenal players who I can say is actually LOYAL and LOVES the club, unlike plastics like fab who kiss the badge and then search for the his boarding pass to barca. I agree he has had some unfortunate injuries, but theyre not all his fault, you cant blame HIM for chiellini slide tackling him and tearing all his ankle ligaments this season. Although he is not as fit as often as we would like to see him for arsenal, I think he is an indispensible talent for the arsenal and could you imagine if arsenal sold him and the next season he stays fit and and scores 25+ for his new team, every gunner fan who is saying we should sell him now will be talking about how “wengers so dumb for letting him go” RVP is MR arsenal, and most likely our new captain when fab leaves.

  252. rico says:

Night agag, catch up tomorrow 🙂

  253. rico says:

I’d get rid of Diaby regardless of injuries Russ, and yes, Rosicky has been paid far too much for laying down on the sick bed!

  254. W.A.T.H says:

Nite AGAG sweet dreams……….. Not GG induced I hope…. sweet smells 2…! 😉

I’d get rid of Diaby injured or not…!

  255. rico says:

Spooky WATH, so would I 😉

  256. rico says:

I’m off for the day all, got to go walk the dogs and then get some dinner….

Another good day, thanks all 🙂

Hopefully you’ll all be back tomorrow, the day the transfer window finally opens….

    Stay safe, nighty night….

  257. W.A.T.H says:

Dutchgunner your right in most of what you say but the question is that is RVP injury prone or just unlucky..? totally agree we need a fit RVP and thats not in question the problem is we miss him far to much when injured so does that then become a liability when he’s always on the treatment table..? Also fair comments on the otheres who are always injured and do we then think due to his crap performances Diaby is always injured as well..?

  258. W.A.T.H says:

Night Rico…….. have a good evening, I’ll sit here and talk 2 meself then…..! 😛

  259. Red Arse says:

Me too W.A.T.H., that way you can’t upset anyone (bugger, Rico thinks “anyone” is me). But then Jonjon thinks I’m London and bad. Sod, on the one hand I think I’m becoming schizophrenic, on the other I’m not too sure.

I never knew responding to a blog was so tiring. Between you and I, I was a blogger virgin until yesterday now I’m an old hand and I am not too sure I understand what is going on or if I like it. Oh well.

  260. Judy says:

Are you serious??? How can you possibly even consider selling not only our best, but only proven, striker?
Robin has that flash of brilliance, that ability to produce something from nothing that is all too rare in our current squad.
Just who do you think we are that we are too good for a player of RVP’s calibre??? Just who do you think we could replace him with, Messi? Ronaldo?

    You need a reality check!

  261. rico says:

WATH – I am reading whilst cooking, its called
multi-tasking, only women know what that means though…. 😉

  262. rico says:

Ho, Wo, hold fire Judy, re-read the post, read the comments, and then come back and take back the fire in your voice and the comment that goes with it…

The post is asking the question to all gooners, only one has said sell him, and that wasnt the writer of the post….

  263. agirlagunner says:

RA, take your chances. Once more into the breach… 🙂

rico, some jump from newsnow to ‘submit comment’. Unfortunately. Nite nite.

    Can’t wait for the widgets.

WATH’s idea of multi-tasking is probably drinking from two bottles of GG at once. Tut tut. 😉

  264. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG my idea of multi tasking is drinking a bottle of GG eating some smoked salmon whilst cooking the fillet……… So there…! Adnu’d love 2 join me lol 😉

  265. W.A.T.H says:

I think judy is missing punch………!

RA…… So really ur “anyone bad from London…” maybe a name change is needed lol 🙂

  266. W.A.T.H says:

RA you don’t need to understand whats going on mate you just go with the flow seems your doing pretty well for such a virgin….. don’t mention that round Rico though she might get all excited….!

  267. Red Arse says:

    You might be right W.A.T.H.

I think I am going to metamorphose into “AnyoneGood”. I reckon Rico might approve of that. I’m off to find a telephone box, a pair of glasses and some Y fronts.

No! It’s no good I must be true to myself, or some such crap. Agag has been v.supportive and I might give it another go.

I’ve just seen a leaked England squad sheet on NewsNow and Theo is in. Not sure that is in his best interests though.

  268. rico says:

Oi Oi Oi WATH, go steady now 😉 😉

agag, i know you are right – its such a shame though…. shame that people don’t actually read stuff before they press their send comment button

  269. rico says:

RA – you look to deep into stuff, just blog and have fun along the way, that’s what avenell road is about, nothing more, nothing less….

  270. Gooner4life&beyond says:

Keep him, but treat him like Ledley King and don’t play him so much. Chamakh and the others guys can do the business against most teams, then if his fitness improves, play him more. Something has to be done about his involvement in the internationals as well. Pretty much no friendlies and don’t over-use him in the tournaments.

  271. rico says:

    GFL&B spot on…..

  272. rico says:

right, i’m def off now, be good an safe…..

    nighty night…

  273. JayGooner says:

Yeah ok while we about it let RVP go for lets say 5 mill Cesc we can cave into the catalunyan c***s and he can go for 30 mill Song Billabong he got injured so offlaod him for a bag of rice Ramsey foolishly let thug Shawcross try to snap his leg in two so bye bye Rambo In fact fuck it! Lets sell every single player who has picked up a tweak a knock or near amputation (sorry Eddy thats you gone) WTF!!! We are the Mighty Arsenal

  274. Jay says:

posted a thoughtful reasoned diatribe on here hours ago abd it dont show hmmmmmmmmmmmm varnt be arsed to do it again

  275. rico says:

    Morning all

Jay, sorry but the little ‘c’ word sent your comment into spam, it always does … Its our only rule

Any further comments will come straight on now

  276. JSP says:

    Sell them all to Barcelona!!!!!

  277. rico says:

Now that really is a bizarre statement JSP!!!

    New Post up
