Now Vela is playing for his exit!

I am sure you all share my thoughts and feelings here.

Merida has gone to Atletico Madrid, Luke Ayling has signed for Yeovil Town, Sol is considering Celtic, Cesc Fabregas has a big toe out the door, Eboue is wanted by Barcelona and then yesterday, Carlos Vela said is hoping for a great display at the World Cup in South Africa.

Sadly though, Vela doesn’t want a great display at the WC so he can convince Arsene Wenger to start playing him more at his current club, he wants to ‘open doors’ and seek a move to another club where he gets playing time!!

Carlos Vela is now 21 years old – the same age as Theo Walcott….

But for injury, Theo Walcott would have probably started most games last season, can the same be said about Carlos Vela. What has he done wrong? He continues to play for his country yet for Arsenal he has made a handful of appearances.

We signed Vela back in 2005 when he was just sixteen years old. Because of permit restrictions for non EU citizens, we loaned him to Cela Vigo but he never got to play, no idea why really, but he came/went home.

Next up was Salamanca, he had a more successful stay there, scoring eight goals and creating many of Salamanca’s 53 goals.
Such was his success, many of the sides in La Liga wanted to secure his services for the following season as he still wasn’t able to play for Arsenal due to work permit issues.

Osasuna were the lucky club and he did well, earning praise from the Spanish press (grrr Spanish)

I actually couldn’t wait for this kid called Carlos Vela to get to England, to get to see him in the red and white of Arsenal. I’d seen many clips of him playing, he looked special, very special….

May 2008, he came ‘home’ – his permit issues were all sorted out and he was free to play for us and I couldn’t wait to see him..

What I don’t get is how his two seasons with us have been, these are his scores on the doors from AFC.com

2008/09 season – started 10 games, came on as substitute in 19 matches and scored 6 goals in total.

2009/10 season – started 6 games, came on as substitute in 14 matches and scored 2 goals in total.

Forgive me if I have that wrong, but aren’t they the stats of a player who seems to be going backwards at club level?Am I right in saying that Carlos Vela more often than not seems to be fit to play for Mexico, yet not so often fit to play for Arsenal.

Has Vela cheesed Arsene Wenger off, is that why he doesn’t play? Is that why he wants to leave?

Why does Theo Walcott get the chances regardless of how he plays, yet Carlos Vela, a player who with a bit of great man management could be a hero at our club?

Or, is simply that Arsene Wenger doesn’t think the player is good enough to persevere with?

Well, if it’s the latter then I am stunned, because our boss sure as heck doesn’t apply the same rule across the whole squad does he.

I hope Carlos Vela has a great World Cup, maybe we will get a good price for him when the competition ends, it certainly seems that he is a player who is fed up with waiting for his time at Arsenal. Lets not forget, he isn’t a kid, he’s 21yrs old and plays for Mexico….. He should be playing for us too!!

Have good day all

    Morning all…

  2. lukychmz says:

I don’t think Ive ever seen him score where he dose not dink it over the keeper. Saw him against England and tbh he was pants, two glorious chances to score hits it at the keeper every time. Send him to barcelona 😛 60 mil

  3. Anon Coward says:

He just hasn’t lived up to to his potential yet. When he does play, he misses several chances, the exception being his hat trick v sheff utd. I havent written him off yet, and i dont think wenger has either but the calls for a new striker and the fact we got one doesnt look good. I think next season is is last chance, if he is still around. If by Jan he is not getting anywhere, i can see him going off to spain or a lower club here.

  4. rico says:

morning lukychmz – i think he is low on confidence, but some other club will soon snap him up…

  5. Erick says:

Morning all What a great talent thats going to waste seems to me lack of playing time affects his confidence but he needs to get his physical game on.

  6. rico says:

Morning Erick, maybe a loan til Christmas up at Bolton?

  7. rico says:

reports are that the spuds are going for Micah Richards…. he’s a gooner, surely he wouldn’t go there, would he….

  8. zeki says:

Let him go, hopefully eduardo, Bendtner, Denilson, Almunia, & Gallas all follow him out

  9. barry the gooner says:

he’s not tough enough for the premiership always looking for a foul he’s stopping players like JET who would not squander those chances from progressing.

  10. rico says:

morning zeki, there aren’t many who hope for bendtner to go?

  11. rico says:

hi barry, yet you would think he’d be able to use his speed and good feet to bypass most…

  12. Erick says:

Rico he is 21 and may be he feels that he has done enough of the loans he need to break through to the 1st team or he is a goner. Zeki not sure I would agree with you on Nikky and Dudu

  13. rico says:

At least he wouldn’t be another out on a freebie, we should be able to get good money for him… not sure how far mexico will go in the world cup, he may not have many games to attract other clubs…

  14. Erick says:

Barry the gooner he needs to be more physical

  15. rico says:

I’d let Dudu go, the PL is too tough for him after his injury..

  16. Erick says:

Rico their poole with SA the host France and forgot the 4th team for me SA and france so four games may be

  17. rico says:

I’ll go check the wc page 😉

  18. Erick says:

Rico we owe him another season atleast its not his fault and may be if we go back to 442 may be he can win us the FA Dudu that is

  19. Erick says:

    Uruguay Rico 🙂

  20. rico says:

Its Uruguay Erick, i hope he stays but i think he may choose to leave, rather than us oiking him out…

  21. Erick says:

Rico next season we need a good squad we have to atleast win the CC and FA and we need rotate the squad so we must keep as much quality as we can and bring in much more

  22. goonergerry says:

His contract was extended this year- so I don’t think he’s going anywhere. He’s spent a lot of time injured this season and has looked way off the pace when he’s come in. Arsenal cant be blamed at all for his predicament this year. Forget it- if he gets some confidence and gets really sharp- he will be able to play next season-for us.

  23. Erick says:

Gg you reckon he will get a chance with Chamaka, Dudt , Rvp, Nikky may be cameo apperances but he could lead the charge in the FA and CC

  24. agirlagunner says:

But Vela’s been nearly invisible when we’ve played him, rico. I understand about shot confidence, but look at Song, or even Eboue? He’s largely like Theo, our Vela… Quick feet, dazzling moves, no end product.

A quick digression, before I come back later, rico, erick, have you read the transcript of Cesc’s pa’s interview? Apparently, Barca is dictating who Cesc & co. speak with. If this is not tapping up, I don’t know what is. And what makes Cesc imagine for even a moment that he can unilaterally change the terms of the agreement he signed? AFC have two words for him *cough (five years) cough*

“Q: Cesc has only one choice to make? To go to Barca or stay at Arsenal?

A: “Yes, that is the decision. Barca have said not to listen to anyone else that is not Barca. That means that evidently there are other clubs that are interested and would not have the difficulty that Barca would have to pay the amount that Cesc would currently cost. To avoid that he wanted to clarify that he will only either stay at Arsenal or go to Barca.”

Oh but enough of Cesc… at the rate this is going, he’d soon be like John Terry/Ashley Cole/Chelsea FC to me.

  25. julius says:

vela never said he wants to go…go read his interview again after the england match. He said he wants to have a gud world cup so that he comes back stronger next season for arsenal. He said the manager has faith in him which is a gud thing for him…he talked about the season full of injuries which restricted him to a few matches…but he never said he wanted to go.

  26. rico says:

morning agag, that i/v is interesting, what a bloomin cheek barca have, its about our club report them, we been saying that for ages though….

when are Ivan/Stan/PHW going to grow some….

  27. rico says:

Erick, i think GG may have been referring to Dudu rather than Vela..

  28. Stroller says:

Although not a starter he has had chances as a sub, and has not really made any impact. His goal against Fulham in the final game was well taken but hardly can be called significant. To me he always looks like he’s going through the motions, never showing an extra bit of spark or skill to make everyone sit up and take notice. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave this summer.

  29. rico says:

    Morning julius

The 21-year-old played in Mexico’s 3-1 defeat to England last night but missed two guilt-edged chances which could have boosted the confidence of the Arsenal forward after a season of struggle.

Vela: “It was difficult for me this year, I didn’t have many opportunities when I was fit. Afterward, many injuries didn’t allow me to be in good form. But I believe I still have time to get ready.”

The Mexican striker is under even more pressure at Arsenal after Arsene Wenger signed Marouane Chamakh late last week.

Vela added: “I’m only concentrated on playing for Mexico and having a good World Cup, and having a good World Cup can open many doors, if not at Arsenal, we’ll see where.”

  30. Donnyfan1 says:

In 2012, when the New World Orderists project an image of an Alien Mothership into the sky and tell us via Sky News we are being threatened and therefore need armed militia on every street corner- many Arsenal supporters will believe them because they believe all the rubbish that appears in print and the media- never ever looking at the reasons why and what is behind this so-called news.(did you all enjoy the Boing that hit the Pentagon and made a 15 foot hole before disappearing). The media are desperate people and are easy to use. Some idiot hack will have said to Vela, ‘would you like to play more first team football’ and Vela said ‘yes’ and so away we go, fantasising and filling those ever yawning column inches.

  31. rico says:

    Morning Stroller, nor would I…

Donnyfan, (does that mean you follow Doncaster or Donny Osmond) had you been on this blog before you would know that the subject of Vela leaving has been discussed many times, this post was relevant to the views of our regular posters. Please, if you have nothing useful to say, save your outrageous comment for your own blog – thanks

  32. Erick says:

Agag I looked at it thats tapping up how can they choose who Cesc can and can’t if Real come with the cash let him go Barca can screw themselves but Barca won’t pay over the moon

  33. Ziggy says:

@Donnyfan1 – spot on mate! hope they listen..

  34. rico says:

Ziggy, which part of ‘open many doors, if not at Arsenal’ is so hard to read into, he is fed up by lack of chances by the sound of it, and who could blame him. He’s 21 and should be playing week in week out

  35. rico says:

    Cesc Speaks………………..

According to Sky Sports News Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has finally spoken on the speculation surrounding his future in England and revealed that there is no guarantee that he will be at the Emirates next season.

The Arsenal captain has been the subject of an intense media frenzy in the last two weeks with Barcelona confirming that they are keen to sign him this summer and Fabregas’ father confirming that his son is willing to quit the Gunners.

Speaking from his Spain’s training camp, Arsenal star Fabregas reportedly told assembled media:

“I am only focused on the World Cup, not my future at Arsenal.”

“It’s up to Arsenal to decide.

“I’m loved more at Arsenal than I am in my own home.”

When asked if he was guaranteed to stay at Arsenal next season, Fabregas simply replied:

    “No.”

  36. Erick says:

Rico where did you get that from seem its a 50:50

  37. W.A.T.H says:

No guarantee’s he will still be there so best mr Wenger go buy some quality to make Cesc wanna stay and show him we actually serious about winning trophies and not going through the motions…!.

  38. rico says:

its sky sports Erick, but where they got it from i don’t know…

  39. Erick says:

  49. W.A.T.H says:

Erick Rico super fast cos its that super scrumpy she drinks………. Schhhhhhhhhhh don’t tell any1 though…!

If the future out of his hands then it’s very simple… AW says very sorry but you were happy to sign a new bumper 5 yr contract last summer so sorry old chap but your going nowhere…! Simples…!.

  50. rico says:

    Super Scrumpy, mme 😉

or take the 80M and build WATH??

  51. Erick says:

Wath I won’t tell anyone 🙂 Rico what the hell is that your taking 🙂 Aw will decide the future of Cesc he aint going no where

  52. rico says:

I don’t think anyone really wants him to go, but if he really wants to go then we should let him imho….

    but only for 80M 😉

    Milkshake Erick 😉

  53. W.A.T.H says:

Go read the guardian article on newsnow….. Says all you need to know…!

  54. agirlagunner says:

Hello, all. So the Little Wantaway finally speaks. And I don’t like what I heard. Be that as it may, AW still holds the upper hand. One to the tune that Barcelona’s bank book cannot afford.

Hello, Erick. Are you holding your drink good and proper? Hello, WATH. rico, Scrumpy, really?

  55. Erick says:

Hi Agag am trying to figure out how Wath is holding his drink but am a slow learner 🙂 I say get the Cash add pace to the squad and lets kill teams on the counter

  56. rico says:

    Hi AGAG, i can’t stand scrumpy 🙂

Popping out for a hour, ive run out of GG 😉 😉

Back shortly so don’t all go away 😉

  57. agirlagunner says:

lol @ Erick, WATH had tips for you yesterday. 🙂
If Barca faxes a stupid offer, I hope AW tells them in no uncertain terms to go to hell.

rico, scrumpy tastes like weird sludge to me. oh wait, it is weird sludge.

  58. W.A.T.H says:

    Hello AGAG…. I mean sexy 😉

AW has maybe said… listen I understand your frustrations but let me show you our ambition in this transfer market and then tell me what you think…??? We can but hope.

Rico on the GG lol…… whats that garden greens…?

  59. W.A.T.H says:

    Erick…… Concentrate…. Left………… then right………. left……. right……….. Easy 🙂

  60. Erick says:

Agag he had four ladies to take care of he got distructed you know Mr lover lover 🙂 Aw must talk to madrid if they are intrested

  61. agirlagunner says:

Hello, again WATH. How you doin’?

If AW’s formal English is too much for el/ex Capitan to absorb, he should maybe put on a rapper’s outfit, ghetto gold chains, a cap in reverse, cross his arms and say in the youth’s lingo, “No dice”. lol.

  62. agirlagunner says:

Where are the other ladies, I wonder? lol on the garden greens, WATH.

Erick, I agree. I hope Maureen makes an offer when Madrid hire him.

  63. Erick says:

Agag Wath had to buy some flowers for the new two ladies but he go his game on 😉 I like Mou Agag is a guy that gets the best out of his players and is a real winner

  64. agirlagunner says:

If he makes an offer for Cesc that we can’t refuse, and scuppers this Barcelona deal, I would learn to like him too. I would love him, even, Erick.

He talks too much crap. He called RvP a diver and AW a voyeur and his games bore the life out of me.

  65. W.A.T.H says:

I’m fine thanx AGAG just working and chatting gotta shoot out for a bit see ya in a while… No getting Erick drunk AGAG…. 😉

  66. agirlagunner says:

Erick’s in good hands, don’t worry, WATH.

I’m sort of happier now Cesc does not entirely want to abandon ship. It is up to AW, I agree.

  67. rico says:

Have I missed much, bye WATH 😉

  68. agirlagunner says:

You didn’t miss anything, just the garden greens bit. 🙂

Now, I want to hear what AW has to say about Mr. Want-away. But it’s exhausting pressing the refresh button on google news every ten seconds. Yawns.

  69. rico says:

ah, the wath comment, he know’s i hate gg and every other spirit but love my garden…. 😉

with you there agag, would be good to hear from the boss now….

  70. K-TR7 says:

Afternoon ladies and gents.aw seems to have sweet talked cesc…wath should note he did it without GG…we are in the driving seat!

  71. rico says:

Hi KTR7, we are and i’m not sure wenger will sell….

  72. K-TR7 says:

I wish i was a fly on that wall rico…aw must have impressed cesc so much…

  73. JonJon says:

    bonjour

  74. rico says:

    certainly sounds like it ktr7…

    evening jj

  75. rico says:

jj, you don’t by chance have one of your magical post up your sleeve for tomorrow do you, i’m a bit stuck
    😦 😦

  76. JonJon says:

    leave it with me rico..

  77. K-TR7 says:

If i understood cesc i think he is ready to give us one more year and if we fail he can leave with aw’s blessing…if we succeed he will become a legend and who knows?he may be one of the youngest captains to lead a club to a treble.its in aw’s hands now and i wonder if he has an ace up his sleeve…

  78. K-TR7 says:

    Evening jj…

  79. JonJon says:

couldnt care less about this cesc thing anymore..its going on for too long we get this every window..we all know he wants to go and has done since time began..might as well cash in with four years left and get top whack and rebuild..

anything over 50mil and they can have him..love cesc to bits but love the club more we dont need this bollox every year..

  80. JonJon says:

i never understood why wenger let him be captain anyway..

well i do it was an attempt to push his price up…

but we cant have a captain who wants to move back to his homeclub every year..

  81. K-TR7 says:

JJ we miss the tony adams figure…i hope ramsey and wilshere will be the base of that…

  82. JonJon says:

straight cash deal too..we dont want any of their cast offs..i fucking hate barca..i hope cesc goes and we do them for tapping up and sting the tossers even more. then i hope jose cleans up next year..

    fuck barca

  83. rico says:

Thanks jj, you a star 🙂

I have to go now, catch you tommorrow – be safe all….

JJ, I agree, if it don’t happen this year we will have the same old saga every transfer window. We now know its down to wenger, if he gets the right players in to get us winning then cesc may re-think, if he still then wants to go home…. then i will wish him all the best… just a shame wenger hasn’t put 2/3 good/great players around him before…..

  84. JonJon says:

this has really changed my perspective on the way our club is run..

i dont trust any of the foriegn players as far as i can throw them and id rather fuck the lot off now and give the development time to the likes of rambo, gibbs, jet, jack, afobe..
