We really are after Messi then… 14M for Cahill, go for it!

Well, the 19-year-old lad dubbed ‘The New Messi’ that is ……. How many times have players been referred to as ‘The New X, Y Z’? Too many to mention and seldom do they come anywhere near the player they are likened to! Just look at Diaby!

I stole this from one of the reports yesterday, just hope there is no copyright 🙂

Arsenal are being linked with a move for Barcelona youngster Guy Assulin.

The 19-year-old playmaker has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Barcelona B team, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to make another move for a youngster in Spain.

Assulin has already made his debut for the Israeli national team despite failing to earn an appearance for the senior side at the Nou Camp, and the teenager is thought to be getting anxious about this lack of first team opportunities.

Wenger has previously signed Fran Merida and Cesc Fabregas from the junior ranks in Catalonia, but with Merida signing for Atletico and Fabregas poised for a move to Barca, the Frenchman is looking to bring some new blood to the Emirates.

Spanish daily Sport report that the Gunners will intensify their interest ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window on June 1st. The paper also reports that Chelsea are taking a look at the youngster, although Carlo Ancelotti isn’t expected to move for the player this summer.

Previously dubbed ‘the new Messi’, Guardiola is believed to be keen to keep hold of the precocious talent, although will struggle to keep him happy in 2ªB Group 3 and away from La Liga.

Well, he’s not Spanish, so that’s promising, and he’s not just out of his nappies, so I don’t really mind if we sign this guy, as long as he is in addition to what we NEED!

Talking of Barca, which we seem to be doing far too much of lately, Goal.com reported last night that they now want Eboue!!

Well Arsene, stick a 20M price tag on his head and take the money if they want him!

Seriously, I am getting sick and tired of Barca, so many of their players have really slated us and the teams lack of fight, why oh why then do they want our players??

I was pleased to hear that Scottish man (don’t know his name) talking to Sky Sports yesterday, he said Arsenal have put a 70M (ish) price tag on Cesc, but he said Barca will offer 43M Euros and Yaya Toure. I would rather we took the money and bought  players who wants to come to Arsenal, Toure has too often turned us down, he’d be another ‘sulk’ and would soon look to move on, so maybe it’s best we leave him well alone! Only a few days ago he has supposed to have said he would rather join his brother at Citeh!

Another player who has bantered around on most blogs as a ‘must buy’ defender is Gary Cahill. Bolton boss Owen Coyle has said that he doesn’t want to lose his player but an offer or£14 million would be impossible to turn down. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable amount of money to ask for an English defender so lets hope Arsene Wenger feels the same. The club have a good rapport these days having loaned Wilshere to them so maybe we will be Coyles first choice club to sell to.

Didn’t watch the England v Mexico match last night and by all accounts I didn’t miss much. Haven’t seen any rave reviews about Walcott or Vela either so I’m glad I didn’t bother…

Anyone see how Hart played? Is he good enough to displace Almunia or Fabianski? 😉

Have a good day all, maybe the next one through the door will be Gary Cahill….

  1. rico says:

Morning all, got woken by the dawn chorus this morning 😦

  2. Matlee says:

Just what we need, lets train him and if he turns out to be any good we can sell him back to Barca, as they always like to buy good Arsenal players and if they are formerly from Barca and homesick thats even better, they can buy them for cheap then.

  3. gooner says:

Yaya turning who down? He never turned us down. Wenger on the other hand turned him down. After a trial.

  4. rico says:

    Morning Matlee and gooner..

just recently he has said he doesn’t want to come to us, thats enough for me gooner…

Matlee, he is not Spanish so may be the desire to return to Spain would not be so strong??

  5. Maq says:

Hart looked very assured in what he had to do. Green spilled a simple shot and looked a tad indecisive at times.

So we’ll obviously sign Green. Fast forward a year and we’ll be asking for Joe Hart again.

I’m just a fan, not paid for my opinion bit FFS go and get Hart. He’s clearly the one to rake the chance on….

  6. Maq says:

I’m sure there’s a bigger choice of Synagogues on North London than Barcalona too. And Bagel shops. Bring him in…

  7. Mcjames says:

What we need is experience, although promising young talent too is ok. What we need is mixture of both. Asulin will be a good signing as he is already 19. Mr wenger should sign him and some experience lad.

  8. rico says:

Morning Maq and Mcj, good to see you here, I don’t want Green, he’s not consistent enough, out the two, Hart all day, but would prefer and older great keeper with experience just to see us through until Chesney makes the no1 spot his own..

  9. beardy says:

Would like to see Cahiii come to Arsenal too. But have a feeling Arsenal are too tight we will end up with nothing or a cheap African. Personally i don’t understand not spending a lot on a good defender and goalie you only have to watch Inter to see the importance in these areas.

  10. kc says:

You shouldve led with the Cahill news. 14 mill for Gary is not asking too much for a very skilled and premiership proven defender who can also score goals. Seems like the perfect replacement for Gallas. Coyle does owe Wenger for loaning him Jack last term. Wilshire helped them stave off relegation.

  11. c gander says:

morning rico, This whole fabregas saga i find confusing because if they wanted Fab so bad why didnt they secure a deal for him FIRST?? Valencia are skint im sure they could of got villa for 22-25million also hes late 20s now. Its clear they value villa more not there ‘own boy’!!

  12. charybdis1966 says:

Morning Rico – I’ve just had an off-beat thought about loans to Bolton. If we want to sweeten the Cahill deal how about loaning them Nasri for the first six months of next season as well as LJW. I feel half a season at Bolton may instil a bit of fight into our weak away from home number 8 – plus the stodgy northern diet there may make him less keen to eat so much and he’s lose a bit of weight, he is a fairly rotund chappy IMO.

  13. K-TR7 says:

Morning all.80mil for cesc is more like it…30mil wouldn’t buy song in this market!i wonder if al had played only in first half vs barca then got injured…id bet they’d say he has barca DNA unliked merida who flopped…

  14. rico says:

Morning KTR7, beardy, kc, chary and c gander

kc – why, its fine just as it is for me 😉

  15. rico says:

Hey chary, that’s not a bad idea, Nasri could do with learning a bit of a tougher side to his game, for sure he could do with losing a couple of pounds 🙂

I would rather Jack stays put, how about sending Theo and Nasri up north 😉

  16. SD-London says:

Well i watched the England match and i must say Vela missed two good goal opportunities in his preferred position.

Walcott was more calm and collected than usual but he had to help Glen Johnson in the right back most of the second half.
England better not play like that in the world cup because they did not play well at all.

  17. Erick says:

Morning all Cahill aint bad am sure Aw can get him for 10mil and give them Jack for 6 months. Am having doubt about any youngster from Barca lets not do business with those dishrags

  18. Jay says:

Seems good but should only be brought in if we have extra cash we definitely need cahill and an experienced keeper first.

  19. rico says:

Morning SD and Erick, didn’t Johnson get MOTM SD, maybe Theo hould have got it 😉

I thought you’d like the Barca link Erick, knowing how cheesed off you are with them .. As we all are i think

  20. rico says:

Hi Jay, spot on, as in my post, buy him as long as he is in additon to what we need, and tha’s players with experience… not another 19yr old, we have enough of them….

  21. charybdis1966 says:

Possibly Rico – although I’m not sure LJW is quite ready for us yet. It’s a close call, although I do fear Theo is too fragile for Bolton.

  22. Erick says:

Jay what happened to my spanish classes 😉 Rico lets stay away from them and 80mil is okay.

  23. rico says:

It’ll be interesting to see how Theo does in the WC, if he makes the plane trip chary, i think he needs to toughen up a bit, maybe a few northern pies and gravy would do him good, he could have Nasri’s 😉

  24. rico says:

Erick, its good that wenger is showing he’s not about to be rolled over with this deal, whether the club stick to it though could be a different matter…

  25. Erick says:

Rico am not happy with the silence of Aw but as i said am ready for the worst and we must get the most we can from the deal.

  26. K-TR7 says:

Morning erick.i know fans love theo but i have never rated him…i only have hope for him because maybe capello and AW see something that i don’t…

  27. rico says:

It’s a difficult one Erick, on one hand if Barca really haven’t made an offer then there is nothing much to say really, however, it seems they may have done now so you would expect something on the website from the club – all we have heard so far has come from PHW, and he as silly as a rook…

I think the fact that Cesc has not denied this, we can take it as read that he has asked to leave..

  28. rico says:

KTR7, Right now i trust Capello’s ‘vision’ more than Wengers, he isn’t certain to make the squad yet so will be an interesting one.. especially if Capello doesn’t pick him…

  29. Barndoor Bendtner says:

I thought Theo had an OK game and grew in confidence. He needs a couple of tricks and step overs (not too many please) when he is running at defenders, and needs more faith in his speed. A couple of times he had the opportunity to push the ball in to space and chase it but didnt take it.
Glen Johnson played a good game and took a greheat goal, but he isnt a defender. If you ask Theo to cover his runs then you arent going to have Theos pace up the other end where you want it. Too many people criticise Theo for tracking too far back, but not Johnson for going AWOL all the time.

  30. rico says:

Morning Barndoor Bendtner ( i love that name 🙂 )

Confidence, that is what Theo lacks the most, if only wenger could instill some in him – Could Capello be the right man to do that??

  31. Erick says:

Morning K-tr7 I always see some potential in theo but he needs to do more in thinking than running. Rico i was hoping Aw would say something after the Chamaka deal but zero, the comments that he asked to leave I believe them cause Sol pointed out the Cesc problem and Aw echoed PHW comments

  32. Barndoor Bendtner says:

Morning Rico and all faithful gooners.
I know Theo has come under just criticisms, but I do feel he doesnt have the team playing his style, either Arsenal or England.
If he has outstanding pace, why arent balls being played over the top for him to chase? The Gunners play short passes so theres no chance for his turbo to kick in, and England play everything to Rooney or Crouch.
It makes Lennon look better than Theo, because his close control is good and it suits the team game.

  33. rico says:

Me too Erick, he wants out and we should let him go, but only for mega bucks… i think we will hear more when the window actually opens..

BB (hope you don’t mind) i am with you on the game for Theo, I would like to see him play up front, i actually don’t care either if we played the long, over the top ball for him to chase, he would out pace most defenders. If he starts scoring and we win then thats what matters…. Pass pass pass pass is no longer working, lets try something new…

  34. rico says:

BB, its good to see you here by the way…

  35. rico says:

I wonder why quite a few Juve players are starting to talk about their uncertain futures? Chiellini is now suggesting he could be on the move…..

  36. Erick says:

Diego infact insist he is staying may be because of the new faces in Juve management atlast we can get Melo 🙂

  37. rico says:

You want Melo then Erick? I want M’bia, that means we get the M&M’s 🙂

  38. Jay says:

If only Thierry was still with us he might of made Theo man up. I agree that he doesn’t really fit in with our style of play arsenal is definitely more bout short passes. I’m glad Chamakh is in tho cause a lot of times sagna or theo run out of options and they just do silly crosses when no one is in now we at least have a front man with decent height who’s specialty is in the air. ;]

And Erick when ever you want the spanish lessons let me know! haha

  39. W.A.T.H says:

Mornin all Milkshakes all round I take it……..
Cahill ok but not sure if there are better options 2b honest. 80mil would be my take it or leave it answer….!.
We been linked with Asulin for a yr or two now…!.
The kraut centre half wouldn’t be bad either.

  40. Barndoor Bendtner says:

@ rico Thanks, its a good blog. Open and honest, not biased either way. I got blocked by Arsenal Action for telling them they were too critical of AFC and too happy to see the Spuds do well…I mean WTF??
I agree that Theo up front is at least a plan B. If the pretty stuff isnt working then 10 minutes of long balls will surely be worth a shot, even if it just keeps defenders back in their own half.

  41. rico says:

Jay, not so sure on Henry, and he was Theo’s hero so maybe he would have just stood around gazing at him 😉 I’m looking forward to seeing Chamakh, if he makes an instant impact, Nikki’s nose is going to be put out of joint 😉

  42. rico says:

Morning WATH, you’re about early, obviously not enough GG for you last night, did you find your mojo 😉

Subotic is my first choice, and then Cahill, a bit of British steel in there, especially if we get Hart as well…..

  43. rico says:

Thanks BB, we do our fair share of critising the football club trust me, especially when the tight gits don’t buy the few players we need to turn us into winners again….

Re Theo, was it the wigan game away when after he came off, wigan were free to push up and get their goals… While Theo was on they were too scared of being caught out by him…. He has his uses 😉

  44. auzgun says:

Hart will be England No.1 for years to come. I find him to be very confident and COMMANDS HIS BOX very well. 2 really important things for a good keeper! What we desperately have been missing. Get him, Arsene!

  45. rico says:

BB, you can say what you want here as long as the ‘c’ word stays away and we don’t insult eachother (unless a spud comes on being chopsy) – no other rules really, all pretty simple…

  46. SD-London says:

Rico;Glenn Johnson was given man of the match because he scored a spectacular goal and combined well with Walcott but in the second half Walcott was defending more on the right flank than attacking. I am sure Capello would have noticed that.

  47. rico says:

WATH, the german you refer to, is that the Mertsacker chappie…

  48. rico says:

SD, and no doubt because he plays for Liverpool ….

Its good that Theo was tracking back though, he has started that recently – Capello could be the making of Theo, sure as heck Wenger is struggling to get the best from him right now..

Perhaps the WC has come at just the right time for him?

  49. Erick says:

Sailor yap milkshake only no GG today ha ha Jay am looking forward to doing my best to convince Cesc to stay after my lesson. M&M Rico 😉

  50. rico says:

Morning auzgun, good to see you here..

Many Arsenal fans rate Hart, as said earlier, i just think he may hinder the progress of chesney, but for us it would be great to have the england keeper in our goal, would take us back to the seaman days….

  51. rico says:

    Nut ones Erick 😉

  52. Barndoor Bendtner says:

Going back to the actual blog….Yes on Cahill for me. Strong, English, does what it says on the tin, i.e. he is paid to defend and he does.
Hart looked good and if he can be got, now is the time. Next year he will have doubled in price. Green didnt look half bad either, but I dont see him developing much more. We still need a seasoned keeper, even with Hart on the books.
Mertsacker sounds a good buy as well. If we can bring a solid back line together we can afford the luxury of talented players up front not needing to track back so much.
As classless as he is off the pitch, I would put in a bid for Gerrard. He is built for Arsenal imho.

  53. K-TR7 says:

    Morning wath…

  54. Jay says:

haha true theo probably would of done that…

And yes theo definitely has his uses the champions league game against liverpool proves what he can do when his mind is set to it.

And another thing…..those 2 clear chances vela missed were just unacceptable if you ask me. Those shots were straight to green so I don’t know if green really was tested last night. Joe hart over Green any day for me.

Do any of you think some mexican players have the potential to play in premier league? I for one think a player capable of playing there is Andres Guardado today he wasn’t given much time to play but I’ve watched that boy many times and he definitely has talent.

  55. rico says:

There are plenty CH’s out there, that’s for sure, so Wenger has no excuses this summer!!

  56. SD-London says:

I think we should be cautious about Hart because he was not tried yesterday at all and R.Green was tried twice.

I think we should wait and see Hart get tested properly and see how he reacts in the big stage . Remember he only played for Birmingham with know Champions League or European Cup to test his ability on a big stage.

Most people might not like this but; is he not the third choice for England right now and we think he the answer to our goal keeping problems.

We are Arsenal we should be demanding a NO1 goal keeper for club and country.

  57. rico says:

Steven Gerrard BB, Steven Gerrard?? mme, I’ll have to think about that one 😉

  58. rico says:

Good comment SD, we need a proven keeper, Swartzer? (spelling)

  59. Erick says:

Buffon seems to be impossible at the moment but we loads of options AW should cut the execuses and get quality

  60. rico says:

Last summer and in January i think AW said there were a lack of defenders out there Erick, well there are plenty now, and many a keeper too, Frey, Hart, Shcwartzer, Buffon…. just got to pay the money, and thats the problem…

  61. Jay says:

Buffon does seem impossible we’ve already had a bid rejected for hart, it seems like either Frey or Schwartzer would be the better options. How bout Julio Cesar? haha we can only dream ;]

  62. rico says:

I’d be more that happy with Schwartzer Jay, didn’t know we had a bid rejected for Hart though…

  63. rico says:

The Catalan giants’ director general Joan Oliver has now revealed tentative contact has been made with their Premier League counterparts as Barca weigh up their next move.

    No hurry
“There is no offer yet,” Oliver told the club’s official website.

“It’s true the player has expressed his wish to play for Barca, perhaps this coming season.

“We have had first contacts with Arsenal in which we made known our intention to talk and that’s the current situation.

“We are not in any hurry and you never know how long these operations can take.”

  64. SD-London says:

Cesc didn’t think this through properly and i suspect he was pushed by his family.I wouldn’t like to insult them on this blog but i should say ;they have not done well.

Cesc is in a limbo right now.Barca cant afford him and dont need him.

  65. rico says:

It could all turn out horrid for him in the end, imagine if barca end up not getting their man, how on earth will he be able to stay after the way he is handling this??

If he stays, the first thing wenger needs to do is take the armband away and give it to TV, Robin or even Song….

  66. Erick says:

I read the Dad has also said Cesc wants out look like he is going after all

  67. SD-London says:

No Wenger woudn’t take the arm band away from him Rico, Wenger loves Cesc .

  68. SD-London says:

Erick, wanting to go is different from having somewhere to go.Barca cant pay, Wenger wouldn’t sell cheap. He is going no where.Until £30million and a player but if rumours are true, Wenger is holding out on £80, now thats one long summer ahead.

  69. rico says:

Maybe he does love cesc, but he should take the captains armband away, how can you have a captain that wants to leave?

The dad is just adding fuel to the fire Erick, Wenger will hold on, he has all the cards right now…

  70. SD-London says:

I hope Cesc doesn’t end his story in Real Madrid because they have the money and if Barca cant afford him he will probably want to leave at all cost , there you go then.
Morinho in Real Madrid will pay £50million for Cesc at least thats what Morinho does best; Running clubs into debt.

  71. rico says:

SD, that would serve him right in my book, if barca start a bidding war, wee have no option but to sell to the highest bidder, and nothing would surprise me about Mourinho….

But I think he can refuse to go can’t he??

  72. SD-London says:

Rico;then he will have to burry his head in the sand and stay?
I cant belive i am begining to feel sorry for him.
But know i am not sorry for him at all because i am sure the idea of a youth system probably came when Wenger saw how influencial Cesc was at quite a young age.
So he deserve what he gets really;Pires could have given us 2 more seasons, Gilberto ,Edu,Viera just to mention a few.

  73. rico says:

Its that old saying SD, you reap what you sow, cesc started this planned exit, forgetting along the way what arsenal and arsene has done for him. i understand why he would want to return to spain, but barca, the team that wouldn’t give him the same chances as we have, have played dirty tricks and games to publicly ‘go after’ him….

Maybe we could all respect his decision more if we knew the truth, but placing an 80M price on his head is the right way to go, ronaldo cost that, why should cesc not be worth the same….

  74. W.A.T.H says:

Ooops sorry had to deal with the GG delivery now have a garage full of the stuff to get me through til the weekend…!

Yep Metesacker thats the fella Rico…. I don’t mind Schwarzer Rico him of James or Frey to last a few yrs til Chezny is ready hence i can’t see us going for Hart and DEF don’t want Green a few spammers I know reckon green is the english version of the waiter… enuff said.

Cesc dadin reported quotes… yeh right well says who and actual quotes…? really… more media bullshit until he actually says it on TV live nooone know’s whats going on and I’m all for this he’s got a 5yr contract if you wanna do ur business in the media and through the papers then the price is 80million if you cant afford it poor little Barcelona then there’s the door bye bye and go fuck yourselves…! That should make it plane enough.

  75. SD-London says:

    right on point WATH

  76. rico says:

I feel sorry for your liver then WATH 😉

Cesc normally squashes these kind of rumours quickly if they hold no truth, i think he’s played his part a bit too WATH, but agree re the ‘until we hear it live’ bit though….

  77. rico says:

Got to pop out for an hour, dont you all go away….

  78. SD-London says:

Please tell me if Wenger was sleeping when Middlesbrough was getting relegated and Fulham was buying Schwarzer for free?

  79. SD-London says:

Please tell me if Wenger was sleeping when Middlesbrough was getting relegated and Fulham was buying Schwarzer for cheap?

  80. W.A.T.H says:

SD… I have said that about Lucio as well on a free and Van Bommel…. just the kind of players who would of done us the world of good the last 2 yrs !!. Wengers blinkers never fail to amaze sometimes….!.

Nothing wrong with my liver Rico I keep it well lubricated…!.

  81. agirlagunner says:

    Hello, SD, rico, WATH.

Latest developments on the Cesc saga do not sound good at all. This was ill-advised and poorly executed. Cesc is beginning to look like the first four letters of our Beloved Club. Not a pretty sight. 😦

  82. SD-London says:

    Good one agirlgunner!

  83. SD-London says:

Is Wenger loosing touch? i wonder, because he couldn’t even keep Merida, it is Merida for God’s sake.

  84. W.A.T.H says:

SD………. r the players loosing faith with the Wenger philosophy and also wanting better players around them and the squad that can win trophies not just dream about winning..?

  85. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG how’s you ?? All good I hope… an Arse….. I’d be a lot more ruder than that but ur a lady and I am not…! Again it’s still all rumour and conjecture so hold tight…!

  86. agirlagunner says:

Cesc is my firm favorite so his defection really stings. 😦

Having said that, what were his advisers thinking? Fine, they’ll make space for him at Barcelona (Busquets, I think will go to the bench) but they’ll never love him the way we do. Thierry Henry would know.

I’ve been wondering about Merida myself, SD. By all accounts, he is a great talent, so why did we let him go? And why on a free?

  87. SD-London says:

AGAG you are right Barca fans are one mean lot ,see how they frustrated ETO out despite his goals and Messi assists.

They don’t like you, they send you out even if you are their best player.
I think thinking about it , Hleb was very very very stupid and Henry was smart for leaving to win Champions league.

Time will tell if Cesc is stupid or smart.

  88. agirlagunner says:

LOL @ WATH. If this turns out to be a non-story, I’d be embarrassed about my dramatics; but if Cesc turns out to be a turncoat, then I will have every reason to feel entitled to all my doomsaying.

How do we get through until the start of season, again?

  89. W.A.T.H says:

I’m not saying it is a non-story AGAG… As Rico said earlier normally Cesc is the first one denying rumours etc etc BUT his silence is a tell tale however I doubt his dad would be so stupid to tittle tattle to the papers knowing that his son just recently signed a new 5 yr deal with yet another wage increase so to say its only fair for Arsenal to respect the will of his son is pretty funny when Arsenal could say well your son should respect his contract which he only signed last year and was happy with his huge pay rise eh….! Agin far 2 many assumptions at present all will come out in the wash..!

  90. agirlagunner says:

I wish someone at the club would break the silence. PHW DOES NOT count. He sounds like a drunk uncle all the time.

I hope Cesc’s pa did not say what he’s been widely quoted as saying. I’m sure the Fabregases were not complaining when Cesc had that whacking pay rise! Respect works both ways, and we (club and supporters) have been fantastic to his son.

Uncap that GG, WATH! Give everyone a round.

  91. K-TR7 says:

    Afternoon wath…

  92. K-TR7 says:

    Afternoon agag…

  93. agirlagunner says:

    Hallo, KTR7.

Another thing that gets me really riled up about this whole debacle is that it’s bad publicity for the club. How are we to attract good talent, when the idea that we keep letting go of our best is perpetuated?

  94. W.A.T.H says:

Hi K-TR7 how’s u fella….. AGAG the GG is staying firmly next to me I only share with you… It’s wasted on the rest look at the state Erick gets into and thats diluting with milkshake the woossie…!

  95. W.A.T.H says:

Agreed with that sentiment AGAG the whole thing does the club no favours when the perception is our top players wanna leave all teh time and this also from Wengers number one prodigy… says it all if you ask me…!

  96. K-TR7 says:

Cesc stuff is getting boring…if he wants to leave let him at the right price…

  97. agirlagunner says:

On to better things, Chiellini has been sending out feelers…

I say, buy him. I know he crocked RvP (and in the process probably cost us the title), but if RvP can sock him a good one in the jaw, it would be even stevens, and we’ll get ourselves a meanie.

  98. agirlagunner says:

Why thank you, WATH. 🙂 Erick has the entire summer to learn how to hold his drink! 🙂

  99. W.A.T.H says:

Erick’s idea of holding his drink is in his left or right hand AGAG……………

Not sure about that Chiellini AGAG…. Prob silly money as well…!

  100. rico says:

Afternoon peeps, what have i missed? we sold cesc yet, I’d call Cesc something a lot worse than an Arse right now 😉

  101. agirlagunner says:

Hi, all. rico, now Puyol is saying that Cesc is nervous and that Cesc’s fans, manager and teammates must all be respected. He remembers this now?

Hi, Avashnee! The Barcelona management is pond scum.

WATH, where are you? And Erick won’t like you casting aspersions at his manly man ability to hold his drink. Haha. 🙂

  102. K-TR7 says:

Puyol has said that cesc is nervous about the speculation but he has a contract here and all arsenal fans,aw and arsenal players should be respected…

  103. rico says:

Hi Avashnee – girls outnumbering the boys right now 🙂 🙂

AGAG, did you see the photo on the BBC site, Puyol all lovey dovey with cesc grrrrrrrr

    KTR7, he is a K**B 😉

  104. agirlagunner says:

rico, because it’s Cesc, that’s the worst insult I can muster! 😦

Avashnee, Theo Bear needs to find his growl. No more Mr. Nice Guy. And his cross, because after years and years of watching him, I’m still looking to see it. 🙂

  105. agirlagunner says:

No, rico. I saw his training photos with Villa though, and the latter looks good. 🙂 What I saw was Cesc signing a kid’s Barca kit. This is the silly season, I know, but must Cesc be literal?

  106. K-TR7 says:

True rico, thats true the girls love it here…that said afternoon avanshee…who is our mr.arsenal now?Tony Adams, keown, bould…cesc(?),rvp(?)…

  107. rico says:

You’ll get used to calling him worse AGAG, it won’t take long 😉 He is just one player, one player who when it just starts to matter, wants to jump ship… He is not bigger than our club…..

Ok, that’s what i keep telling myself to help to adjust with the soon loss to be 😦

KTR7, it has to be Alex Song 🙂

  108. agirlagunner says:

    I can’t figure out what K**B means…

  109. K-TR7 says:

At least rvp/diaby/denilsong don’t have dreams of madrid/barca…rvp’s dreamclub was feyenoord…

  110. SD-London says:

I hate the silence;Wenger not saying anything, Cesc not saying anything, and the biggest of them all is that the Barca has not said anything at aaaaaaaaaalll and he suppose to be the one to actually need Cesc in his team.

Only if Cesc can see that he is being used for politics alone. Imagine if Guarduola should leave Barca because it doesn’t seem like he controls the signings.

  111. rico says:

AGAG, a door often has one 😉

I think that’s what gets to us all SD, just wish the club would say something on the website instead of PHW speaking to the Daily Star…

  112. K-TR7 says:

Cesc was never my favourite but as i was beginning to warm up to him he packs his bags…pires departure destroyed me and i had to turn to GG for a couple of months…

  113. rico says:

That’s what AW is waiting for, the change of president, then we’ll probably find Barca don’t want Cesc at all…

  114. rico says:

KTR7, Bobby was one of my fav’s too and Freddie, i loved the way both of them always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to get a goal, i loved Freddie in his CK’s too 😉

  115. rico says:

Carlos Vela has hinted that he would be willing to leave Arsenal and that a successful World Cup could “open doors” for him.

The 21-year-old played in Mexico’s 3-1 defeat to England last night but missed two guilt-edged chances which could have boosted the confidence of the Arsenal forward after a season of struggle.

Vela: “It was difficult for me this year, I didn’t have many opportunities when I was fit. Afterward, many injuries didn’t allow me to be in good form. But I believe I still have time to get ready.”

The Mexican striker is under even more pressure at Arsenal after Arsene Wenger signed Marouane Chamakh late last week.

Vela added: “I’m only concentrated on playing for Mexico and having a good World Cup, and having a good World Cup can open many doors, if not at Arsenal, we’ll see where.”

  116. SD-London says:

O.k now Vela is thinking of leaving.

I think we are all better off concentrating on the world cup.

  117. SD-London says:

O.k now Vela is thinking of leaving.”$”%$”£%&£& very pissed

I think we are all better of concentrating on the world cup.

  118. K-TR7 says:

Rico i think rico theo will become a ljunberg type of player…when bobby’s number lit up on the substitution board…

  119. rico says:

SD, you on the pop my friend?? Good for you 🙂

  120. SD-London says:

  121. agirlagunner says:

lol @ rico! (but we’re talking about Puyol, right? Cause if it’s Cesc, I can only ever do mild insults. :))

Vela can clear out too. Whose loss? Now if only another Spanish speaking player would follow suit…

KTR7, I’m sure Wenger regrets that CL substitution to this day.

  122. SD-London says:

Agag spot i bet he did

  123. rico says:

AGAG, i do hope you are not referring to our very own Almunia 😉 😉

KTR7, Bobby on the left, Freddie on the right, it was stuff dreams were made of, now look at what we have 😦

  124. SD-London says:

    See yah guys

  125. rico says:

Catch you later SD, have a good evening 🙂

  126. agirlagunner says:

I just may be referring to the waiter, rico. Unless D&D and Flappy also speak Spanish.

What Wenger has now is a revolt! Squash the infidels, I say.

Bobby is sui generis. And Ljungberg in his CKs will always be legend.

  127. agirlagunner says:

    Night, SD!

  128. K-TR7 says:

It seems the ladies here shed a tear when freddie left for non-footy reasons…freddie, pires and henry destroyed teams on the counter.i wish those days come back…

  129. rico says:

AGAG, and his red hair, i can hear the song now….

D&D – can we teach them Spanish 🙂

KTR7, not at all, his CK’s were just an added bonus 😉 He left at the right time for all, he was injured and over the hill, unlike Bobby who still had a good few years in him when he was allowed to walk for free!

  130. agirlagunner says:

… and his blue eyes. 🙂

Shame, shirt removal became a yellow card offense. I bet that rule was put in place by a man insecure of Freddie’s abs.

We have no counterattack threat now. Diaby/Eboue, sometimes. But hardly ever.

  131. rico says:

AGAG – comment of the day, very funny

‘Shame, shirt removal became a yellow card offense. I bet that rule was put in place by a man insecure of Freddie’s abs.’

    😆 😆

  132. K-TR7 says:

I think cesc has changed our playing style alot.we seem to look for cesc all the time killing our counter attacks.we have become less direct with many short passes instead of a direct route.i miss the viera-petit days although cesc is awesome maybe his departure will let us go back to the invincibles blueprint which will suit us better in the longterm in the epl…a mix with some of the current blueprint will make us conquer england and broad…but it probably wont happen…

  133. agirlagunner says:

    I try, rico. 🙂

I think we all know we rely too much on Cesc. With his departure, others would feel less inhibited, and grow up. If Ramsey were not injured, I’d feel less bothered by Cesc’s departure. He was beginning to be brilliant just before he was shawcrossed. Nasri seriously has to up his game now. Especially his away form. And if Theo does not deliver next season, I fear he will never ever come good.

Whatever happens, we will survive, and hopefully with the right purchases, we will deliver silverware to The Emirates.

    Night, all.

  134. rico says:

KTR7, we think the same, the other day i wrote about when he’s on the pitch everyone looks to pass to him, often even when there is an opportunity to shoot or even a better pass to a different player.

It was the same with Henry –

My parting line was, as strange as it seems to write, we may just be stronger without him…..

  135. K-TR7 says:

    Rico we seem connected…hmmm…

  136. JonJon says:

if barca agreed to 80mil for cesc id bite their hand off..couldnt turn that down..

no player is worth that much and we could buy 4 cescs for that price..

although PHW will probably want a barn conversion so we wont see any of it..

theo was garbage last night nothing new there..the look on rooneys face time after time said it all..lennon did more in the time he was on..

as for vela, i think wengers ruining him..before he came to arsenal he was a big fish in a small pond in the spanish league and he was banging in goals galore for mekiko..now he cant hit the back of PHW’s barn door

  137. K-TR7 says:

    Hi jj…longtime…

  138. JonJon says:

    hey guys/ktr

cahills a bargain at 14mil..then we should spend around the same price on one of those eastern european defenders..or a german..those lads are machines

  139. K-TR7 says:

Verminator is heading to Congo!…for charity.he has also said we need to keep our players fit.

  140. K-TR7 says:

True jj those eastern europeans are machines…skrtel, vidic, vermy,…we need more of those.

  141. Erick says:

Howdy all Wath 3 ladies for you dude you will spend a fortune on flowers 🙂 so the Cesc drama unfoldes goodness me will the new season ever start

  142. K-TR7 says:

Howdy erick.the ladies are circling this site…good times…

  143. rico says:

Evening Erick, not long to wait, just a few more days 😉

  144. Lady Arsenal says:

I only wanted to point out that I don’t think Barcelona really care about getting Fabregas, they don’t need him. It’s Cesc himself who is trying to manufacture a move, and Barcelona are sort of like, well if he wants to come so badly, maybe we can get him on the cheap. Of course I have no idea, but this is how it seems. Not happy that our captain is basically responsible for all this, not happy at all. Properly OUT OF ORDER to the maximum degree.

  145. Erick says:

Lady Arsenal I said the same thing its not the media this time round its Cesc who wants out. We need to get the most from him then Adios

  146. Erick says:

K-trp talk of the devil 🙂 Rico its like a decade 😉

  147. Lady Arsenal says:

Erick, but how fucking dare he?

All this talk of respect for Arsenal, and the boy is basically a selfish little shit. And I loved him too

  148. rico says:

Welcome Lady Arsenal, i don’t think anyone will disagree with you…. Cesc is naughty..

  149. rico says:

We all love/loved him Lady Arsenal, i just wish he would speak up, tell things as they really are…

  150. Erick says:

Its also tough on me Lady Arsenal but have cried enough times am ready for the worst and Arsenal must go on we did it after Henry we will do it after Cesc

  151. Lady Arsenal says:

AAARGH I want to scream! I’m not that angry that he wants to leave, but the way he’s done this is so out of order. He’s screwing Arsenal in the extreme. Now we’re going to have to sell him for less than he’s worth. And on top of that, we come out looking like a small club. It’s not like he’s just won us the treble. We owe him F all in my opinion.

  152. K-TR7 says:

Evening lady arsenal.is that lady arsenal blog yours?cesc has been calling us ‘my team’,kissing the badge…but it was all a fraud.fans may say they understand why he is leaving but we have done more for him.if we hadn’t bought him he would’ve never been a barca regular nor a spanish team regular hence he wouldn’t have won the euros.we replaced viera with a fresh faced pup,we have changed our tried and tested policies and philosophies for him,we made him captain!we have backtracked his wages for him,our fans even call him ‘jesus’ but what does he do?he makes a fool of aw and the club by demanding a move to barca.hleb won a treble on the bench but you know what cesc?he said reaching the cl quarters with us felt more satisfactory since he actually contributed.henry and viera gave us their peak years before leaving unlike you cesc.thanks but no thanks…

  153. JonJon says:

    lady arsenal..

hes got 100 years left on his contract..we dont have to sell him if we dont want to..it may appear the club hae been screwed but in actual fact the club are in charge..

    pay up or get lost

  154. Erick says:

Lady A absolutely true but as I always say if someone does not want to stay he is not worth ishhh and Helb has told him to relax and he aint listening Xavi and Iniesta wont warm the bench never

  155. JonJon says:

and all this talk of getting shafted by cesc is OTT..

cesc has never denied the fact he wants to return to barca in the 7 years hes been here and yet he has still carried this team in that period..

    he wants to go home

    so what??? whats new..

hes always wanted to go home..

  156. JonJon says:

if barca dont pay cesc dont go and if cesc dont go theres been no signals over the last 7 years he will be unhappy..

hes happy here..but he would have known barca was after him this year..they would have said its now or never but if they want him that badly then prove it by paying 80mil for him..

  157. Erick says:

JJ if he stays i will support him but i we don’t have to be stupid we need options and plan B or else he will leave a gap that will cost us dearly

  158. rico says:

I’m off for the day all,

    Stay safe, and nighty night…

  159. JonJon says:

wengers always known he wants to go..why you think he gave him a 100 year contract..

if wenger would have built a team around him and not pissed about we wouldnt be in this situation

    trophies keep players happy

barca are winning them and arsenal cant win a line at bingo..then theres the added incentive cescs are barca fan

    do the math..

it was only a matter of time before cesc said fuck this ive had enough im off

  160. K-TR7 says:

@jj cesc is pretty smart;he is keeping quiet incase the move happens well and good but if it doesn’t he will say he has always been happy here.wouldn’t it be typical uefa to match us with barca and chavs with madrid?…anyone read goal.com,according to them cesc has told ‘friends’ he is 500% sure of a move to barca.funny story,no quotes…happy 50th anniversary to tiny totts 50 years without a league title next season as they keep telling us we haven’t won in 5,well spuds yours is ten times more.i wonder what they’ll produce:a film,t-shirts,mugs,twitchy dolls?…

  161. Lady Arsenal says:

Now this may seem controversial, and a bit like I’m bitter, but I honestly don’t think Cesc is a world class attacking midfielder. His best seasons for me were his first two when he sat in front of the defence and passed it short or long without ever giving the ball away. That allowed him to ghost in to the box as an extra man and find space.

I think his lack of pace/dribbling prevents him from being really effective as a number 10. The best teams have marked him out of games, and I honestly don’t love this formation built around him as an attacking force. He is very capable defensively, and I think he’s much better in a deeper position. I reckon the main reason Wenger has done this, is that Cesc is our only midfielder who is not scared to take responsibility and make things happen.

Not saying he’s a bad attacking mid, just that it’s not his best position. He modelled himself on Guardiola, the archetypal ball playing no.4. I’ve been saying this for ages, i’m interested to hear what you lot think.

  162. JonJon says:

    seeya rico..

erick this is not another adebayor situation..its totally different..its not like cesc has given us one good year and then asked for a move to get a payrise

cesc has carried this squad for years and stayed loyal all the time we won fuck all..he could have gone back to barca at any time in the last 4 years but he hasnt..

    hes had enough..

  163. JonJon says:

cesc is by no means an attacking midfielder..

hes a play maker..a string puller…but the fact hes scored 18 goals and got 20 + assist playing as a AM shows how good he is..

give cesc a bodyguard and give him 2 wingers and a shithot striker to feed cesc would control any game no matter how much pace or lack of dribbling he has..

the fact is he doesnt have the players to feed so he has to do it by himself and its been that way for years..

  164. JonJon says:

its why cesc seems to go missing in some of the big games…

the rest of the team are crap and cesc gets double marked..everyone knows take cesc out of the game and arsenal are fuck all cos the rest of the players run round in circles pass it from side to side dont shoot cant cross and cant defend

  165. K-TR7 says:

Lady arsenal i’ve been banging on here on the issue.he can demolish weaker teams but against top level opposition the likes of essien easily nullify him, the game in confed cup vs usa showed this and they lost.AA is better there since he has pace, trickery, dexterity in both feet and unpredictable.we beat milan/juve/madrid/chavs/mancs with him deeper where he can control the midfield leaving that role to a real treaquarista.thats why i was saddened when hleb left,he was a vital cog in the machine despite his shortcomings…cesc departure could prove to be our juve01 moment…

  166. K-TR7 says:

JJ cesc is a flat truck bully as a no.10:he is slow, weak and can’t control the midfield when he is so advanced on the pitch.hleb/AA/rosicky are better there because they can dribble, shoot and be unpredictable.top teams are tighter at the back and thats what happened in barca’s elimination vs inter.they pushed xavi further up with keita and sergio behind him but guess what?they played tiki taka for 90+minutes sent the ball to the wing, send a cross and inter defence clear for an entire game.why?xavi and fab are no no.10s since their strongest attributes are passing which don’t work against teams with brick walls.i bet you they missed iniesta alot since he is the closest they have to a no.10…

  167. Lady Arsenal says:

I hear you JonJon, his strengths are his vision and his distribution. He is basically the same as Xavi, and if Barcelona get him, it will always be one or the other.

I think if you’re going to build a team around one player, they have to be truly unplayable. Henry and Ronaldo were that level, Cesc isn’t. Like you say, he relies on other players to make runs. I don’t think our team is as hopeless as you’re intimating, but when teams sit back against us, as they always do, Cesc’s influence is less. I still think we are too slow. We need more pace and better movement to profit from Cesc’s strengths.

  168. Lady Arsenal says:

Haha K-TR7, I think we’re agreed on most things then. Top man

  169. K-TR7 says:

Lady arsenal i feel if we can get AA to his 90% or more(euros) and build the team around him as our no.10 we can be better against top teams.hleb may not have been a sharpshooter but his unpredictability there helped to break the bus.at the sansiro we all remember cesc but hleb played marvellously!he broke walls with his turns and skills plus he drew numerous fouls.if aw can get AA to his best he can be devastating!…fingers crossed…

  170. Jay says:

    Hello fellow gooners….

This whole Cesc thing is making me sick to my stomach.
I think all these links to new players is all to cover up whats really happening with Cesc. But Barcelona are nothing but a greedy team who needs to take players they don’t need to feel good bout them selves. For one David Villa was not needed when they have the likes of Messi and Bojan. Now as for Fabregas they have Xavi,Iniesta….why would they need OUR Cesc? Just greedy in my opinion they’ve become worst then real madrid and I HOPE they fail in the champions league and at thee end of next season I see Ronaldo (Yes Ronaldo) Holding up the cup instead of Messi. If this whole deal with Cesc isn’t dealt with before the world cup then after it he’ll definitely be 10,000,000% sure he’ll want to be at Barcelona and it will only makes things worst. Players like Xavi,Iniesta,Pique,Puyol will finish persuading him to go.

I just hope we hear some news soon.
