Barca finally get their man! Shock, horror, we’ve signed Chamakh

Yep, yesterday Barcelona finally confirmed David Villa had signed for them and he did the usual parade at the Camp Nou. I am gutted, I always hoped Villa would join us, but I now have to accept it was all a dream, he’s now tied to Barca for four years…

Oh well, life goes on I guess… πŸ™‚

Back to us, yesterday we were linked with Zapata, Tasci, Subotic, Cahill, Jagelka and Van Der Wiel on the footie gossip page, its funny how Cahill and Subotic keep getting mentioned isn’t it, I for one would be happy if they did sign too, the defence would be very strong, especially if you add Vermaelen, Djourou and Big Sol to those two. All we need then is a better goal keeper and we would reduce our goals conceded by at least half!

I like the sound of Subotic, 6′ 4″ and viewed as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga. He has height (no more Diaby in defence),he hasΒ power andΒ speed, just what we need. Stick him alongside Vermaelen and add one more and we are sorted!

So after another transfer saga, none of us will be surprised to know we have signed a centre forward who goes by the name of Marouane Chamakh…… Here is what he said after securing his deal..

β€œThis is a dream come true and a great joy to be joining Arsenal. My goal was always to play in the Premier League and Arsenal was the choice of my heart.

β€œWithout any hesitation, Arsenal was my preferred club. The team and history of Arsenal, they make me dream. My goal was to join Arsenal out of the all the English clubs because it is a club that makes me dream and I have been a fan since I was a child.

β€œI’m very excited about playing at Emirates Stadium in front of the Arsenal supporters. I have heard many great things about the stadium and I cannot wait to be playing there in an Arsenal shirt.

β€œI will give my best to this Club, the Club that I used to support. We have many great players at Arsenal and I will be giving everything to help the team win trophies next season.”

No we have a new No9, his though has a No2 in front of it, he will wear the number 29 shirt, but in all honesty, where does this leave our own No9, Eduardo??

I think it could well spell the end for him, this league is hard, tough and very physical. Without proper ref’s many a tackle goes unpunished which results in players ultimately being injured the way thatΒ he was. Why would he now want to stay?

There’s another player who constantly gets kicked week in week out, I’m not going to mention his name, but maybe he want’s out before another player puts him out of the game for good…..

Here he is, just in case no-one has seen him πŸ™‚

Have a great day all, one in and may many follow πŸ™‚

    Morning All

What a beautiful morning it is too πŸ™‚

  2. K-TR7 says:

Morning rico.i hope chamakh is the first of many…im still incensed of how barca players and staff treat us;xavi’s comments disappointed me along with my barca was disrespectful…

  3. rico says:

Morning KTR7, to be honest, i haven’t read them and now i am staying away from all the rumours about our little marvel…. πŸ˜‰

  4. Mustang says:

    Morning Rico,

there was never any chance we would sign David Villa, I would have been more shocked about that one. I was already bored out of my head with the whole chamakh transfer, so the excitement had been beaten out of me before yesterdays signing.

What I find interesting and worrying is the number of players ruling themselves out of a move to Emirates. I get the feeling we no longer attract players like we used to and if we not being careful the so called world class player will rather go to other clubs than join us because we are no longer serious contenders for the big prizes. I wonder if that is why Fab wants out now!

  5. Mustang says:

I agree that the comments by Xavi is insulting, but take way the lack of class and all the emotions in the air you kinda get where he is coming from, we are no longer serious contenders for trophies, fact.

  6. K-TR7 says:

Rico-i stayed away from all cesc rumours because none have legitimate quotes but all just speculation.i’ll write my articles after we know more about our captain.morning mustang.lets hope now we have the cash we can afford them.

  7. K-TR7 says:

Mustang what xavi said is we don’t compete.we have been in cl qfs, semis and finals in the last four years and we know only one team can win a trophy.we were in the title race till midapril when injuries took their toll on our squad.not long ago they went 6 years without a trophy but what he implied is like we are a lower pub team.only one team can win a trophy and we have done well so far with our youngsters and we will become better if aw if we don’t win a trophy does it mean our players should leave?should cr9 leave madrid after them getting 96 points and not winning the league?

  8. rico says:

Morning Mustang, like you i was bored stiff with the chamakh saga, not great shock to see it confirmed, i just hope wenger gets on and gives us a few nice surprises…

re Villa, a girl can dream πŸ™‚

  9. rico says:

Regarding players who don’t want to sign, that was kind of behind my post the other day about the swampies and celtic…

to get the big signings back, we need to start winning something but unless the club change their stance, its not going to happen soon…

  10. rico says:

KTR7, what do you expect from players like xavi, all he and the other barca players are doing is slating us to tempt our captain…. they are gutter…

  11. K-TR7 says:

Another thing is that this is their golden generation;no need to get cocky.they fell on the ground too easily in the cl this year, they abused mourinho when inter deservedly knocked them out.they pressure anyone from catalunya to play for them.they have tapped up cesc for half a decade with their ‘DNA’ stuff but the funny thing is that i’ve never heard them say merida had barca DNA neither did pique since none of them were perfoming.its a great club but its attitude since they started dominating has been disrespectful…

  12. rico says:

Its in the paps again today about Merida going to At.Madrid…. looks like he is a goner…

  13. Mustang says:

KTR7, you make good point and I agree but the longer we go without a trophy (regardless of type), the more players will think twice before joining. We are fast losing the prestige of being The Arsenal that players are queueing up to join especially with the money the likes of citeh are throwing around.

  14. rico says:

Mustang, and the swampies down the road, watch old twitcher spend and spend this summer….

  15. johney says:

what a bargain is chamakh. i love it. i actually fell like this is the same deal that barca made .. only difference is that we get our guy for free :). and I agree that we shuld look into siging Subotič .. he would really be a great deal … you mentioned hes strenght and speed ..but forget that hes amazing in air.
For now .. we’re on right track .. keep getting me in good will Wenger!

  16. rico says:

morning johney, good to see you here, indeed i did forget, he is pretty good in the air πŸ˜‰ He is just what we need alongside TV

  17. rpn_arsenalfc says:

Morning all… I’m a big fan of arsenal but i’m a realistic person who admit barca is better than arsenal right now. So, why people alway argue about barca’s players and staff conduct? since fabregas has already made his word for barca. Cesc is not everything for us, and there are still may quality player out there who might be even better than our captain. I really don’t like player playing without his heart to this club.. let him go, but make his price worth for the club..

  18. Mustang says:

Rico, what I wanna know is where the swampies are getting their money from? They have that geezer, Joe Lewis but not sure how rich he is…

  19. richard katuramu says:

thanks wenger for that purchase of a striker, but we need at least two youthful defenders to help varmeleen and a central midfielder…..let fabregas go…he needs to ask hleb what happened to him?

  20. Nedu says:

Good morning mates. I dont know whether anyother person here think we have concluded our summer business. Remember last year, verminator? I seriously hope not. As for cesc, i’d be suprised if he left without winning anything at arsenal! Welcome to chamakh. He could be on to great things in england. Remember torres.

  21. K-TR7 says:

Mustang i agree but you must consider every big club has its dark age.juve are in the midst of theirs, barca went 6 years without a trophy, inter hadn’t been in a cl final in 38 years, madrid have not gone past the knockout phase of cl in 6 years and also the mancs went through a drought of their own.what we did was very ambitious in moving to the emirates in this economic climate;its quite difficult to pull off as you have seen pool, swampies and the chavs have not even started it.i hope our sacrifices will be worth it.if we go on to dominate in the next 20 years aw will be remembered as our Bernabeu…

  22. rico says:

Morning to those just joined, I think Chamkh is going to get us 20 goals a season, finally we have a big stronger header of the ball, i know gets one every now and again, but Chamakh i think will be different..

rpn, i say get 60M plus and rebuild, we will only go through all this again in January…

  23. rico says:

Mustang, I dont know, maybe Arry will sell a few first, Keane, Bentley, Jenas??

  24. K-TR7 says:

Rpn i agree about if cesc’s heart isn’t here he should leave.also no one can argue that they are better, probably going to be one of the best teams in history but the way they mouth off about our club is downright disrespectful!if they want cesc they should pay up not belittling our club(3rd most successful in england) in the media all the time as if it is their divine right to buy him.for a club of their stature i expected better but thinking of it madrid are better since they may be scum but they pay up a player’s value…

  25. rpn_arsenalfc says:

What do you think guys, cesc go for 60mil plus eduardo for 10 mil plus almunia for 5 mil, plus 6mil for denilson

and we can bring subotic for 20 mil, 16 mil for hazard, melo for 16 mil, and 29 mil for dzeko.

How about that? I’m sure we can win at least 1 trophy next season.

  26. K-TR7 says:

Rpn if cesc leaves we can have our juve01 moment.they sold zidane to madrid for a record fee and bought buffon, nedved and thuram.they went to win two scudettos and an appearance in cl final vs milan at old trafford.the problem with cesc is that we are too reliant on him such that when he is absent we look lost.we don’t even thrill on counter attacks anymore since we always look for cesc who isn’t quick.cesc is worldclass but his departure could make us a better team the same way henry’s did…

  27. rico says:

Subotic, M’bia and one other defender would be good enough I think rpn, but if we could sell Almunia, Diaby, Denilson, Randall and Fabianski, get a quality keeper in too….

  28. rico says:

KTR7, just what i think to, as my post suggested yesterday, take the money and rebuild, get us back to being a team rather than rely on one or two players…

we know the captain is going, i just don’t want us to go through this saga every transfer window…

juve may let us have buffon as they owe us money…

  29. K-TR7 says:

With chamack signing i see us playing two upfront with AA being free to roam behind them…how about going back to invincibles blueprint?chamakh signing shows aw is seriously thinking about it…

  30. rico says:

About time too ktr7, and play players in there proper position, no more nikki on the right wing….

  31. rico says:

got to go off for an hour, later peeps πŸ™‚

  32. A Barca Fan says:

No one in Barca wants Merida back because he proved himself to be a money-grabbing whore with no loyalty, as you too are about to find out.

  33. terry says:

cecs leaving is not that big a problem i totally love the guy and has been a legend but we can only win something when players like denielson and diaby leave or are not considered as first team players. denileson is techniclly good and also has a amazing lone range shot but suck defensively. his main problem is he does not track back at all very lazy and exactly the opposite of flamini. if he improves his work rate as much as flamini he would be 2 as good as flamini but will he ever do that we dont know. he sould be sent on loan and said that we will assess your progress based on the folowing points if he improves we and good. he will have a bright futur3e with us if he dosent we must sell him the the season after his loan. the best place to loan him will be italy according to me wehere it will really suit his game.

  34. rico says:

Hi Barca Fan, good to see you here, and you terry…

sorry for the delay, your comments were held in moderation..

  35. rico says:

Wenger has said in his i/v about chamakh, that there will be one or two more signings for sure….

I reckon that is if we keep the captain, if he goes we need more than just two… and more than just two if gallas goes too..

  36. Nedu says:

This hugo lloris we all want prof to buy started shining at 22 and mannone is 21 atm. I’d say dont buy any gk and quick mannone in there. He cant do worse than almunia. And what if melo was bought for say 15mill, and one central defender, preferably cahill(the lad is strong) we cud line up like this: mannone-sagna, verm, cahill, clichy-melo, song, fab(am 150% confident that he’ll stay)-rvp, chamakh, arshavin. This means pple like walcott, nasri, rosicky diaby and bendtner can be called from the bench.

  37. rico says:

Rather see chesney than mannone Nedu, he did well on loan and looks the mutts πŸ™‚

  38. agirlagunner says:

We signed Chamakh? Gasps! Who could possibly have known? πŸ™‚

  39. roger says:

not winning a trophy is mainly because we haven’t had the money..look how chelsea have spent, it’s very hard to compete with that..The board have not made the funds available and the fact that AW has got us even challenging i think is unbelievable

  40. rico says:

    Hi AGAG, we have πŸ™‚

roger, but we have some now, no best wenger spends it, and wisely, no more youth, no more ‘could be’s, we need experience…

  41. rico says:

I’m off to enjoy some english sunshine, back later πŸ™‚

  42. Nedu says:

Remember Rico that Szcescsny has been facing league two oppositions.

  43. W.A.T.H says:

Amazing how everyone assumes that Wenger has not had moeny from the board yet when he sold 40million worth of players last yr he only spent 10…. AW is the problem not the board…! Mr Stubborn thinks buying proves his project failed and he will never admit 2 that.

  44. W.A.T.H says:

Careful Rico make sure u put sun cream on those puppies no getting them burnt πŸ˜‰

  45. agirlagunner says:

Mr. Stubborn would would do well to reexamine his transfer approach, WATH. Our youth project would fail without mixing in the experience!

    LOL on the puppies comment.

  46. W.A.T.H says:

Hi AGAG how’s you…? All well I hope.

Well AW needs to go buy some class regardless what happens with our #4….! The youth project has gone as far as possible and needs to be supplemented with class and experience and then we can win things. If this doesnt happen we’ll win nothing for another 5 yrs.

U always have to look after the puppies AGAG πŸ˜‰

  47. agirlagunner says:

I am okay, WATH. I hope you are too. An out-of-town trip! Spa day! The full works! Yay!

Naughty boy! I’m steering clear of any puppies talk.

I certainly hope we get quality DM, a proper winger, and a competent goalie, at least.

  48. W.A.T.H says:

    A spa day… lucky you…. Nice… Enjoy….!

Well seeing as ur at a spa am not gonna mention puppies anymore or taking care of em lol πŸ˜‰

A competent goalie we could get off the street…… We need a world class keeper cos the clowns we got at 1 and 2 are just laughable…!. Two central defenders a central midfielder and an out an winger…! No good having Chamakh who is good in the air when noone can cross the ball… Nikki B good in the air and look at the crap service and crap crosses he got all season.

  49. agirlagunner says:

You’re incorrigible, WATH! Too early to be tippling!

Our goalies are rubbish, competent ones, at this point, would satisfy me. I forgot about our need for CBs. 😦 Our squad is certainly looking lean with the impending exits…

On the other hand, those not picked for international duty have all the summer to work on their crosses/learn how to track back. And happily, there are a number of them!

  50. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG your far to easily satisfied is competent would do you…. Keeper is the most important player in the team… a great goalie gives and aura of invincibility and commands respect and gives the whole back four a lift as they know they can trust him… Noway can our defenders have any faith in the waiter or flappyanski and you can see they don’t trust em.

We also need to buy a couple of players who average more than five foot six…!.

Me incorrigable…. Oh plz………. πŸ˜‰ Ok ok I’ll come rub your back if you ask nicely πŸ˜›

  51. W.A.T.H says:

As for too early to be tippling it’s never too early and Arsene drives me to drink thats my excuse πŸ˜‰

  52. agirlagunner says:

Anyone would be better than the Spanish Waiter and Flappy Hands. Anyone! We have enough small and technical players. We need beasts, now!

My back’s good, WATH, hehe. But it must be black and blue. I forgot to say the magic word, “Swedish”, it feels like it’s been steamrollered. Ow.

  53. W.A.T.H says:

Yep I agree, as we have all been saying for months we need a few players who are six foot plus and would run through brick walls…!. My Gran in 89 and she could do better that the waiter n flappy…..!.

Ouch poor back…. Am sure it will feel great 2moro though…!, ok if the backs been done I’ll take care of teh rest and then a bottle of GG for us πŸ˜‰

  54. agirlagunner says:

Arsenal would drive anyone to drink/alcohol poisoning, WATH. 😦

“Wenger misses UEFA lunch to tie-up Fabregas transfer” is the latest on this most unpalatable of sagas. Sigh. On it goes…

I wish I would wake up tomorrow and find that the new season has started. I cannot stand all this transfer talk angst.

  55. W.A.T.H says:

That’s the prob AGAG we go through this shit year after year after year… Why are we not looking to buy other teams top players it’s crap….! Also does my head in the way we put up with this crap.

  56. agirlagunner says:

I hope we finish paying off this stadium debt soonest. Then the Board would have no more excuse for our failure to land big names.

Maybe we can even unsettle a few with Barcelona DNA.

  57. W.A.T.H says:

I have a feeling AGAG it’s not the board its Wenger who won’t spend…!

  58. agirlagunner says:

Surely, AW has to acknowledge thatg there are aping holes inhis grand plan. Buy, buy, buy.

  59. rico says:

Now I think it’s the board and not Wenger πŸ™‚

And leave my puppies out of this πŸ˜‰

    Afternoon all….

  60. rico says:

Pffffff, no-one around, so i’m off back in the garden 😦

  61. W.A.T.H says:

Hey u watch those puppies dont get burnt….. Must I come put cream on em so they are looked after…….

For me its def AW not teh board just dont think anyone on the board strong enough to tell him to buy…!

  62. rico says:

That’s kind of you WATH, but their fur keeps them safe in the sun πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

  63. rico says:

Seems you have all gone, i will join you,

have a good evening, see you tommorrow,

    stay safe

    nighty night
