Campbell and Keown get together ….

With their opinion of course, what did you think I meant….

I’m going to cheat today and for two reasons,

1) All is quite quiet on the Arsenal front as we head towards the season’s close.

2) I have a busy day or so ahead, so I’m just making life easy for myself.

Sol Campbell has said this

The main thing is you have got to get the right balance, there is a fantastic amount of talent here and we just have to believe we can win a major trophy – and you also need a bit of the rub of the green now and again.
That said, I believe you make your own luck in the game – how you play, how you conduct yourselves, how you approach matches, making sure you are seriously thinking about football, you create luck with all those things combined.

Training-wise, you have to work on your weaknesses, preparing yourself properly for the game, on and off the field.
It is not that you have to be locked up 24/7, but I think all these things do add up – you ensure that things go your way by doing all the things which come before you actually step on the pitch.

We have got a lot of that in place here and I am sure that, once everything comes together, there will be no stopping Arsenal winning trophies season after season. You have to truly believe in your skill and trust that you can do something.
‘Wherever we finish, we will have to build on it and keep on going.

Martin Keown has said this,

The staff have worked hard for another year and they will go away disillusioned for another summer because this year has been a missed opportunity. The title was there to win this season.

If you look at the age of the team this year then I think they have over-achieved. They are all very young but we can’t keep saying that forever.

Arsenal need to buy in a sprinkling of proven quality players and introduce them alongside the current players, and they will drag them over the line.

It’s very important that you have these people in the squad. They are people who have been there and done it. They are people who you can look up to and rely on to show that quality. When you have a squad full of youngsters you get inconsistency and you are never quite sure how they’ll perform.

All the Arsenal players are now playing for their futures, they only have a few games to prove that they deserve to play at their club and that they deserve to have a future and that goes with the territory when you are playing for a big club.

The minute you can’t win a trophy then you don’t deserve a place, it’s as simple as that!!

Finally, Arsene Wenger has ‘allegedly’ said this,

“The construction of the Emirates Stadium meant that for many years we could not spend a lot of money. Our financial situation has greatly improved. We are finally able to buy the players we think we need.”

Will the summer of 2010 finally see one plus one make three?? I hope so because all three comments together are very positive πŸ™‚

Have a good day peeps…..

Morning.AA should shut up and remember who pays his wages!

  2. rico says:

morning ktr7, agree re AA, what do you make of the Sol, Keown and Wenger stuff? All sounds quite promising if to believed…

  3. K-TR7 says:

@Rico baby steps,we are hopefully out of our ‘dark ages’.i hope AW means it…

  4. Mustang says:

    Morning folks,

I am not buying Wenger’s comment. Have we forgotten that this is his usual comment coming up to the summer? He never follows it through though and that is likely to be the case again. He has already come out this week saying:

“We have a lot of players to come back from injury but we do have needs in one or two departments,” he said. “If we can find some experienced players of course we will do it.”

    Sound familiar?

I’m afraid I am not spending another summer with my hopes high only to be disappointed again, yes I am pessimistic. Every one knows we need to strengthen the squad, if he does then great if not then so be it….

  5. rico says:

    Morning Mustang

Sadly, I feel the same as you, every season as the ST’s are due for renewal he makes these statements… My only hope is that the likes of Cesc, Sol, TV and RVP have a word and tell him how it really is and give him an ultilmatium…

  6. K-TR7 says:

@Mustang spot not expecting anything too…rvp, johan, ramsey and gibbs are like new signings…expect headlines:”Guardiola see AA as henry replacement”

  7. rico says:

KTR7, for sure we all hope he means it, but as Mustang said, its same old same old with him…

  8. rico says:

If AA was replaced, I wouldn’t care too much if he left, if he prefers to wear a barca shirt, then he can go….

The story though is no doubt an old one from last summer

  9. rico says:

Off for a bit – catch up later…

  10. Le Foxe says:

    Morning all

If you actually read the article with Arshavin its been manipulated a bit by all the headlines you see!

More interesting is the fact that there seems to be more and more rumours about Joe Hart coming to the Arsenal. I think he could easily have the same impact at the club as signing TV last summer.

Can definately see at least 2 new quality signings in the summer, plus Chamakh which seems to have already been a done deal. Fingers crossed, eh!!

  11. rico says:

    Morning LF –

Would love Joe Hart, with Chesney as his number 2

As long as we get another Song and CH I think all could be rosy, whether we get them though only time will tell – actually cant wait for the transfer window to open, I think it’s going to be a busy one, especially with the new rule in place…

  12. rico says:

WEST HAM have put every player except Scott Parker up for sale.
Joint-owner David Sullivan said: “If we get the right bid we will sell any player, apart from Parker.

  13. Erick says:

Howdy all AW must just be tricking us he says the same thing always just don’t get your hope high until you see a player in white and red

  14. rico says:

hi Erick – something deep down makes me think he will buy the needed players this summer, maybe not the players we all hope for but i think he will buy for the positions that need strengthening…

but then i stop dreaming…. and realise its just hope..

  15. Suhail.TV says:

Ya.. he will buy some 16 year old boy and declare he has huge potential to be a good player some thing between henry and vieira so on.. He is a great signing .. Price wise , performance wise…. ..Morning all.. Hope am wrong this time.

  16. Mustang says:

When I see the list of player in the squad for the annual emirates cup then I will believe, until then I will immerse myself in other things this summer to take my mind, and hopes away from all the gossip. We get linked to huge number of players every summer with little or none of those actually joining so you can imagine what it will be like this summer, especially with the noises coming out of Arshburton Grove that AW will buy…..

  17. agirlagunner says:

Hey everyone! We will have a few top signings this year. I believe!

I think even Wenger knows that we would have done so much better if our injured stars had quality cover. As used as we are to injuries, who could have anticipated that our treatment room would be at capacity all year round?

STV. I dont’ mind that another 15 year old prodigy arrives. But Wenger should supplement that purchase with Torres/Villa types. Or better yet, with Torres/Villa themselves.

  18. agirlagunner says:

Hello, Mustang. I know what you mean though. I cannot imagine what to do with this yawning summer. Can’t wait for the next season. And the WC will only be a mild distraction.

  19. JonJon says:

    afternoon boys and gals..

we wont see anyone…its the same every year, we fail and the season ticket renewels are up so the club start banging on about signings…but they come in the form of a few babies from icelands eskimo league and a freebie out of contract player…

then wenger will say we couldn find anyone for a decent price better than wat we have already…even though we go into every season knowing almunia and denilson and diaby are shit and the board say we have 30mil to spend

its just spin…i’ll belive it when i see it

  20. K-TR7 says:

I don’t think AW will buy…rvp&cesc will shine at the wc and will be like new signings…its sad…

  21. JonJon says:

wengers talking out of his arse already..

saying his hands have been tied and he now has the money to spend..

hes a great man but hes a shit liar..

weve always had the money… he just bought kids..

    ramsey 5 mil
    theo 12
    nasri 12

alonso, best midfilder in league by far was available two years ago but wenger wouldnt pay 17 mil rafa wanted but he went and spent 17 mil on nasri and ramsey

not saying i dont rate rambo and nasri but you see my point??

    its all bull..

  22. JonJon says:

the only time wenger has bought wen he needed to was wen cesc was out for months and we were 7 ponits behind villa for 4th spot

4th spot is priority so wenger shat himself at the thought of missing out and forked out 15mil on quality and it worked..

shame he doesnt apply that theory to missing out on trophies

  23. rico says:

    Afternoon peoples, i missed anything… πŸ˜‰

  24. JonJon says:

    hi rico

just nipping in to say out now but be back later

  25. rico says:

Ok, hope the steps forward have continued JJ

  26. K-TR7 says:

To be frank,AA is no different from ade.AA like ade is spouting off about his love for barca after being lazy for an entire season yet ade was stoned for it.i had alot respect for him but not anymore…AW should not buy these expensive and overrated prima donas who will want to join real/barca sooner or rather a vermy/sagna type who will appreciate playing for us,and will play their hearts out for us…

  27. rico says:

KTR7, is this article a new one, or just a an old one re-written…. or are his comments just taken out of context?

  28. agirlagunner says:

If I didn’t console myself with the thought that we were buying this summer, I’d be beyond miserable for sure. So I’d rather think that some (fine, at least one) top-draw players are on their way.

I don’t mind that AA shoots his mouth off– as long as he performs. He is a fantastic player, but he hasn’t had an excellent season. I’d take TV5 over him any day though. He really looks like he would die for our team, you know.

  29. K-TR7 says:

Hi rico&agag our team has made me so depressed,i don’t expect new signings since AW has been repeating the same quotes for five years.i loved AA but not anymore,i have soldoff my AA kit, even if he stays or goes i don’t care about him dare he whore himself to barca despite we taking a massive gamble on him?i hate to say it but he has surpassed ade according to fantastic as he is how can he go mouth off about mourinho&co?fergie wouldn’t allow that.he is a negative influence to our younger does he think the likes of rvp and tv5 feel?i want him sold!id rather rosicky played than him…on another note, nasri is more frustrating than hleb…how did lampard not make the PFA Awards?

  30. agirlagunner says:

KTR7, Arsha was never among my favorites, so I don’t exactly feel betrayed by his blahblahblahs. A little disappointed, to be sure; but it’s his loss. I think he’s moody and moans more than a bit. He gets away with it because of some stellar performances.

If he can’t feel invested in us (we are the Arsenal, for chrissakes!), be off. Good riddance. This club of ours is bigger than he is.

  31. rico says:

Hi agag, it must be a girl thing, we are both full of hope and I know I will be expecting a new signing every day πŸ™‚

I think what makes is so hard is being so close until just 3/4 weeks ago, my hopes were so high and believed that it would be ours as the results kept letting us back in – until the spud game that is….

KTR7, Dont take all you read ‘said by him’ as gospel, its old news I’m sure…

  32. agirlagunner says:

Rico, we are hopelessly hopeful. In fact right now, I’d say, we have a good chance of signing Torres/Villa. Haha.

We were within a sniff of title glory… and then, injuries, injuries, injuries, Almunia and Fabianski.

I was listening to my favorite band’s new album, and got sniffy over these lyrics “… out with a whimper, it’s not a blaze of glory…” Ow. Turned the ipod off. Too close to home and all that.

  33. Suhail.TV says:

Buy buy arsene.. Please, or say .. Bye bye..

  34. agirlagunner says:

How were your exams, STV? Done now?

  35. rico says:

Torres and Villa, is that all agag, add to that Hart and Messi πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

Hi STV, he will, he has to πŸ™‚

  36. rico says:

What do you guys and gals think about the Diarra rumour??

Hangeland is in the rumour lists as well, Fulham have done well this season, especially in Europe, he must be doing something right, cant see it though not with Smalling on the way to the mancs..

  37. Suhail.TV says:

Not yet agag.. Strings of exams from now.. Hw you doing.. Hi rico I’ll be so inconsistent like diaby from now..

  38. agirlagunner says:

Rico, I was hoping either Torres or Villa. But Torres AND Villa? Not complaining. πŸ™‚

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could float rumors of making a bid for Messi? I’d love it if we could annoy Barcelona management with our tapping up attempts. I suppose no one would believe us though. AW is a notorious tightwad.

I like Diarra but he doesn’t seem to like us. And didn’t he have a fractious relationship with AW?

I’m not sold on Hangeland. But anyone would be better than Sylvie.

  39. rico says:

Your allowed STV, its that time of year πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

  40. agirlagunner says:

I’m glad I’m done with exams. Can’t imagine how I put myself through them. Don’t worry, STV, we have aaaaaages to go yet before the new season and Arsenal will always be here to obsess over. Let’s face it, ours is a life-long and beyond commitment.

  41. K-TR7 says:

@Rico&agag im expecting no major changes since i’ve heard alot of lies from AW…hope that your dreams aren’t broken again…

  42. Suhail.TV says:

Nice to hear all that agag… Think you’re relaxed now.. No chest pain.. Happy with the boss and lot of fun and grey geese.. ha..

  43. agirlagunner says:

Torres kitted out in our shade of red would be all my dreams come true, KTR7. πŸ˜›

AW rather restored my faith (not that it was ever lost) with TV5’s signing. Who could have predicted his impact? Signing of the season, no doubt.

AW would be silly not to buy seeing how we collapsed in the glamor games. We can’t always be the tippy-tappy team that schools the Blackburns and Evertons and other mid-table or in-danger of relegation clubs. We have bigger fish to fry! AW, buy, buy, buy.

  44. Suhail.TV says:

AW said rumours are incorrect.. That was true in jan. Am afraid cause almost all the good players were mentioned in them..

  45. agirlagunner says:

Not happy with the boss, STV. Haha. But everything else is about right. My gaggle of grey geese is keeping me company, of course. The chest pains were last felt in Wigan. I am all hope again.

  46. K-TR7 says:

Its sad to say but any signing would be a bonus to my expectations…denilson, almunia…will all be here next season.

  47. rico says:

Win our last two and we will feel a little better 😦

  48. Suhail.TV says:

When you dont do the work you’re lazy.. When boss dont he is busy..

  49. agirlagunner says:

If AW buys a keeper, either Almunia or Fabianski has to go. Or both could go.

Denilson won’t be sold. AW sees something in him. What it is I don’t know.

  50. Suhail.TV says:

Rico.. That’s the most desperate comment i’ve ever heard from you.. Be happy.! We’ll win ‘all’ of our remaining games.

  51. agirlagunner says:

Someday we’ll be the bosses not the bossed, STV.

I am off. Good night lady and gents!

  52. Suhail.TV says:

    Me too..

  53. K-TR7 says:

I remember pre cl qfs draw i came here and said i had a bad feeling about how our season would unravel and its like i saw it coming;since messi put us to the sword the players have looked disinterested causing us to face embarassing defeats.what we have done better than last year is only in goalscoring;we have been poorer in defense,we never reached the fa&cl semis unlike last year and we have been beaten by all our rivals.its sad because we are soooo close but AW won’t splash the necessary cash.for example if we had a ‘flamini’ type of player messi, rooney, drogba…wouldn’t hurt us and thats why i said id love fletcher.if you don’t believe me look at how heavy flamini looks after keeping wpy 07 kaka in his pocket in our cl clashes with milan, gilberto subdued zidane, dinho, nedved en route to our first cl final…

  54. agirlagunner says:

One last: STV, don’t you know, Rico is saving all her “hope” for Villa?

By the by, Rico, have you seen the new ad for Hugo Boss? It may interest you to note that (It probably won’t)…

Xabi Alono was chosen to represent elegance and is the face of β€˜Boss Bottled’

David Villa represents β€œspirit” and is the face of β€˜Boss in Motion: White Edition’

Whilst Cesc Fabregas was chosen to represent the purest, and most typical of Hugo Boss. He is a touch between elegace and sporty, he is the face of β€˜Hugo Man’

  55. agirlagunner says:

KTR7, I remember all too clearly Kaka belonging to Flamini (not to Jesus as his shirt said) in those CL games. I wish he had stayed, but big money transfer beckoned, and he didn’t refuse.

Our defense failed us this season, there is no denying. We really just need a few old heads amongst all these young shoulders.

There’s a rodent-like quality to Fletcher that I cannot put from my mind. He can harry opposition, and he does it well, but he’s so un-Arsenal. No style, no technique!

  56. K-TR7 says:

@AGAG yes he has his flaws but we have enough technical players,we miss a duracell type of player like him or else top opposition players will always relish playing against us.i sincerely hope for you ladies that your dreams come true,am a tad pessimistic this summer…

  57. agirlagunner says:

I can’t think of anyone now who can be our duracell bunny, KTR7. I’d like too sleep on it, and get back to you tomorrow.

Fair point about having enough tecnical players. Of course, TR7 and Eduardo (yes, Eduardo the forever and a day injured) easily spring to mind.

  58. rico says:

agag, i haven’t seen the ad, is it Villa? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    night agag and stv….

  59. rico says:

Imagine all three in that advert playing in the red and white of Arsenal – puuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr πŸ™‚

  60. Mustang says:

Watching AW exclusive interview on ESPN…..on now

    the record is on repeat.

  61. rico says:

    Whats he said Mustang?

  62. Mustang says:

    Hi Rico

it’s the same…. “if we find good players we will do it”; “we have some players coming back…”; “we will look at the defensive area cos we are not sure of Gallas”
When asked should we have brought in a striker in Jan…. “well we scored a lot of goals with most of our main strikers our…”
on his contract: “I treat it like a love affair, you know it can end one day but you behave as if it will last for eternity”

  63. Mustang says:

    …..main strikers our = out

  64. rico says:

same old same old then Mustang, perhaps I need to stop hoping 😦 😦

lets just pray he is keeping his cards close to his chest…. pfff!!

  65. rico says:

I’m done for the day – see you guys tomorrow I hope

Stay safe and sleep tight πŸ™‚

  66. Mustang says:

    Good night Rico “n” all.

  67. rico says:

    Morning, new post up
