Good weekend!

Well what a weekend, sunshine, sea and sand….

Ok, I don’t mean that really, a good weekend of football for us despite not playing ourselves..

There was me, driving up the A34 wondering how long it would take me to catch up with all the comments after the weekend  games – that didn’t take too long 😉

Fat Sam managed to get his Blackburn side to huff and puff and stop the Mancs from scoring, good two points dropped in the title race, certainly good for us. The Chavs are still in the FA Cup after a run around on the dreadful turf at Wembley, lets hope that the surface took an extra bit out of the players legs and they are knackered for their next game.

The one result that made me smile, and smile big time was Portsmouth, a team relegated from the English Premier League a few days ago which I think all stems from being mis-managed a couple of seasons ago, played their hearts out at Wembley yesterday and rightfully earned a place in the FA Cup Final. The bigger bonus there is that they took the game into extra time, one hundred and twenty minutes of football played, surely both sides must be exhausted!! That won’t bother Pompey, but it might bother you know who…

Lets hope so, because just in case anyone has forgotten, we have a little game on Wednesday night against the side who Pompey conquered. We know every game is a must win one from now until the end of the season, but this one is a must win match for added reasons, I’m sure we will get to that before the kick off…..

At the moment we know that for the Spuds, Wilson Palacios is out due to suspension,  Niko Kranjcar is out through injury and Vedran Corluka had to be given treatment at half time, so lets just hope his pain keeps him out of the game on Wednesday.

‘Arry has said that despite the lows of yesterday he would pick a home fixture against us to be his next game!

I wonder if he will be saying the same around 10pm Wednesday – I don’t think so, do you??

Bouldy’s Boys did it again at the weekend, they beat Charlton 2-1 away from home. Having gone 1-0 down after half an hour and it stayed that way until the last twenty minutes of the game. Benik Afobe scored the equaliser then six minutes later, newly introduced substitute Zac Ansah scored the winner to secure all three points.

Arsenal are now 14 points clear at the top of Premier Academy Under-18s Group A.

The Ladies also won at the weekend, beating Everton 1-0 at home. Captain Jayne Ludlow was sent off after a ‘confrontation’ with Everton’s midfielder Fara Williams – confrontations, sending’s off in Ladies Football, what is the world coming to?

I jest of course!!

The question on will he or won’t he will be answered this week, Wednesday in fact….. I hope it’s a He Will….

  10. rico says:

Got any links to the bays STV, you lucky thing

  11. K-TR7 says:

Against barca we scored thrice in two games.real madrid spent a quarter of a billion and only managed to score two goals in four games against them, chavs scored once in two attempts, mancs once in three attempts.we did that without our key players and in off form.if we can concentrate 95% of summer resources on defence we will be fine.

  12. Erick says:

Morning Rico nice to see you back. What a weekend of footie we just need to do it on wed we might go the all way cheers

  13. mcbcgooner says:

    squirrel comment was hilarious 🙂
how i wish the sp*rs had played 150 mins on that sham of a pitch, would have made things a little more easier come wednesday.
    smash the spuds!!!

  14. Suhail.TV says:

Right Ktr7 watching real’s play against barcelona I realised that a half strength arsenal team is better than them. Morning Erick..

  15. rico says:

Morning Erick, nice to be back……. 😉

KTR7, I caught a bit of the RM v Barca game, didnt live up to all expection from what I saw… Ronaldo still up to his old tricks of diving, outside the area and pleading for a penalty….

  16. rico says:

    Morning mc, welcome to AR,

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has labelled the controversial Wembley pitch “a disgrace”.

The playing surface at Wembley has come under scrutiny on numerous occasions this season with a number of players questioning it during the Carling Cup final in February.

Redknapp blasted the treacherous surface after players repeatedly slipped over during the 2-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat by Portsmouth.

  17. Suhail.TV says:

Rico.. Why the red Knap is such a buffoon ?.. Any idea..

  18. Erick says:

Morning STV, K-TR7 real madrid expensive assembled unit is a joke 🙂

  19. Suhail.TV says:

They also got a master joker Erick a manuel ppelleggrini

  20. rico says:

No idea STV, he’s always been like like it… he ripped off Pompey, then took the players on the cheap to Spuds – I really hope we batter them…

RM are in doo i think, how much did they spend?? And they still won’t win anything this season…

  21. DAVEY says:

Where you get 150 mins from?Get it right!

  22. Erick says:

STV he wont last until next season you know where am from STV I can visit the indian ocean

  23. rico says:

120 minutes, just checking you are reading…..

  24. Suhail.TV says:

    Where ! Man..

  25. Suhail.TV says:

Rico any way we’ll destroy them. Spurs form is delightfull for us. Redknapp is thinking spurs is better than arsenal.

  26. K-TR7 says:

The way the spuds and their fans left the pitch at full time you would’ve thought pompey won by just showing up.with AW signing chamackh our attack will have a new dimension.with that new dimension we can score all types of goals.we will also need to improve our effeciency in front of goal since most drawn games would’ve been won if we took our chances. if we improve our defensive play we will be one scary team and barca will not want to face us again.

  27. rico says:

STV, 120 mins 150, who gives a hoot eh, it would have been a tiring afternoon for them, I think Palacios is a big miss for them, he could have been ours a couple of seasons ago but we had too many midfielders….

Palacios or Denilson???? Before being tainted of course…

  28. Erick says:

Kenya the land of the raising sun 🙂 K-TR7 where do you see Jack Wilshere in all this he can get us goals i feel. Rico missed the 150 min i wil blame it on the Exams 😉

  29. rico says:

KTR7 – spot on re our chances, we haven’t been ruthless enough for a few seasons now, i know we have leaked a few goals but had we have taken more of our clear cut chances we would have still won most of our games…

saying that, we need to stop gifting a few to..

  30. Erick says:

Palacios Rico but Denilson will come good i hope 😦

  31. rico says:

Me too Erick re Palacios, do you honestly believe Denilson will get better? How does a player improve his speed? He’s getting on a bit now 😉 😉

  32. Suhail.TV says:

But denilsen goals are always special.. Are’t they..

  33. rico says:

STV, they are but not frequent enough 😉 😉

  34. Erick says:

He will get better Rico buts its always a gamble the Barca games he was ok but PL games are difficult for him AW must see something we don’t

  35. K-TR7 says:

Erick-i think wilshere will get the no.10 role in future though he will have to improve his goal threat.despite madrid spending gazzillions they will end up with nothing to show for.we are a much better unit even with a depleted squad.inter couldn’t even score barca!if we become ruthless enough and have defensive stability we will walk the pl and challenge barca for the cl.rvp’s injury was a major blow since he was our ‘messi’,we suffered 7 fractures and countless injuries but we are still 3 points off the top while rooney’s injury has made the mancs look like a poor side.we are on the right path!

  36. Suhail.TV says:

Ya, one of the unpredictable players along with diaby walcott and sagna. But they all showed they can be good enough, only the matter of consistency.. But it’s a matter..

  37. Erick says:

STV he must start to shoot from distance Song too. Any news on Song’s injury??

  38. Erick says:

K-TR7 do we have big match players? That has been disturbing me i believe we needed Diaby and Nasir to click passed Barca but 😦 😦

  39. afternoon all
i see the denilson debate is still rumbling

  40. rico says:

    Erick, I didn’t think AW saw anything 😉 😉

  41. rico says:

Afternoon RSD, its bound to rumble on, together with the Diaby and Dudu debate 🙂

  42. Erick says:

Ok Rico its a wait and see Afternoon RSD. Song Rico will he play wed

  43. how dudu is diaby and denilson?

you seen the reports that dudu is prob off in summer an’all now or could be him instead of aa

  44. Erick says:

AA or Dudu tough but AA been off and disinterested

  45. rico says:

The debate rsd, debate about Dudu, the debate about Diaby, and of course Denilson… stay, go etc…

i have seen them, not surprised by them either…

Erick, not heard anything about Song yet…

  46. Suhail.TV says:

Hi, real social dad,. After noon

  47. rico says:

Our Blackburn fixture has been changed, its now May 3rd at 5pm…

  48. rico says:

Off or a bit, back in an hour or so…

  49. K-TR7 says:

I think AA like sagna did is suffering from second season syndrome.he has had to play CF role most of the season and his niggly injuries have not helped.i believe he will explode next season if he stays.this was our first season in the 4-3-3 formation and we have done well.AA will be given more licence to roam maybe we could drift to a 4-3-1-2 to give him and cesc the freedom to roam from central positions in the course of game the game to keep opposition guessing.AW said AA is an effective player though he seems lazy.i expect chamack and rvp upfront next season with minor tactical tweaks to incorporate a better unit.AA on top form is a better treaquarista(no.10)than cesc with his quick turn of pace, shots and mazy dribbles.i think cesc has to play deeper since against top teams diaby and song lose out in mf battle due to cesc being closer to goal.

  50. Erick says:

K-TR7 am expecting wilshere to explode AA would never play for Barca and as you said lazy he is 😦 the defence needs 2 additions Billy can’t go a season injury free

  51. agirlagunner says:

Welcome back, Rico. At least some of us have had sight of sun, sea, sand. Would that I could… Anyway, I was fairly dying over the slooow burn of this Arsenal-less weekend.

The Denilson Debate will continue to persist until he learns to play it forward– I bet my bottom buck that he makes the most sideways passes of anyone in our team; and until he learns not to give away the ball so cheaply.

Whether that ever happens, who can tell?

To be fair and as Suhail pointed out, he scores some really special goals.

KTR7, I am excited about Wilshere’s development too. He is a fantastic dribbler, although as of yet still quite easily dispossessed of the ball.

  52. rico says:

Hi agag, thanks and not long to see the boys in action again….

Denilson is fondly known as The Crab 🙂

  53. K-TR7 says:

Afternoon Agag. What a player messi is;131 successful dribbles this season and 79 shots on target with 40 goals.i’d love AA to do that since he is our most complete attacker.wilshere for me seems to be an ‘iniesta/hleb’ with more penetration and a tough guy.he has the ‘nastiness’ of nasri/rosicky.i also hope Agag that rosicky improves massively for the NLD.we have learnt a few tips from barca and lets show the spuds the difference between being outplayed by messi and being outplayed by pompey.

  54. W.A.T.H says:

    Morning all………..! only 2 more sleeps……….!

  55. rico says:

Spot on KTR7, huge difference between Spuds and Barca, there is no way we should do anything other than win on wednesday. the defeat to barca hurt, but trust me, a defeat at s***e hart lane would hurt more…

Jack going to Bolton may have just ‘toughened’ him up a bit, mentally as well and physically…

  56. rico says:

Morning WATH – 2 more sleeps indeed, massive game, just massive….

  57. W.A.T.H says:

Glad u enjoyed your weekend Rico….! Puppies have fun…. they enjoy the sun and fresh air 😉

  58. rico says:

And getting their toes wet 😉 Bit breezy but good thanks.. 🙂

  59. see you guys aint heard yet fat russian or skinny yank? who dont you want?

  60. Erick says:

Hi AGAG, Mr. Sailor 2 more sleeps 🙂

  61. agirlagunner says:

KTR7, as frustrating as it was to see our team unravel against Barca with such ease, you have to hand it to Messi— he’s unplayable these days.

Contrary to what a lot of people have been writing, I don’t think Ronaldo did too badly, but Real Madrid’s defense was pants, and their midfield was uninspired.

Wilshere and his temper are a good addition to our team, I think. We have too many Mr. Nice Guys! The fact that Elbows Davies says that Jack isn’t afraid to get stuck in says a lot! I mean, Elbows would know!

I don’t think AA would leave. He’s in love with Cesc (join the club, AA). I find it funny how he keeps mentioning Cesc in his interviews/website Q&A’s. Plus, he will have time to rest/get surgery over the break. He has constantly said that he was playing through pain.

I hope TR7 regains form because not many players in Arsenal can control the tempo; and he can certainly do that.

  62. agirlagunner says:

Rico, The Crab sounds fairly innocuous compared to the names a good number of Arsenal fans call him. Haha.

Two more sleeps, Erick, can’t wait. Where I’m from, the game will broadcast at an ungodly hour again. Ick.

  63. Erick says:

Messi needs man marking to stop him I bet Jose will pull every stunt to stop him can’t wait

  64. rico says:

Hadn’t seen that rsd, blimey, we are in for an interesting few days ahead….

  65. Erick says:

Yap AGAG talk about ungodly hours here it will start at 10pm and I have exams what a time zome 😦

  66. rico says:

Erick, Messi will only get stopped by dirty play me thinks….

  67. Erick says:

    Zome =zone

  68. rico says:

Lardybayor has retired from international football, following the shooting at ACON…..

  69. Erick says:

Rico you know Jose never lack those against he pensioner he played three strikers to confuse them am it worked wonders

  70. rico says:

agag, re Denilson, that was a fond one, not suggesting thats what I call him 🙂 🙂

The match Wednesday is 8pm uk time, thats normally my bed time 😉 😉

  71. Erick says:

  72. rico says:

Fair point Erick, but does he have the players at Inter to do the same, I think you are right, it will an interesting match to watch – think i will be giving it a miss though… should have been us 😦 😦

  73. agirlagunner says:

Erick, but that’s the sort of thing we expect from the self-styled Special One. Tactics that are effective yes, but whoops-I-just-drooled-there-boring.

The Chavs are still boring (will probably always be), but they were never as boring as they were circa Mourinho.

The Gunners have to make some miracle happen and win the league. As much as I do not want the Mancs to win their fourth straight title, I hardly think I would feel good about the rent boys getting the silverware either. Their players are scummy as they come. (having said that, I must confess that Essien is quite a player)

  74. would have thought that they would wait till may as price of shares drop by something like 3k per one but interesting if a new player comes into focus

  75. W.A.T.H says:

RSD………. hadnt mentioned jabba the hut or the yank cos dont think either will buy then directly yet and indirectly they might but would prefer they both fucked off actualy…!

  76. W.A.T.H says:

Have to agree AGA would love Essien at Arsenal BUT he is also very injury prone lately…! Do we need yet another one of them…?

  77. rico says:

If either do buy her shares, that will be it won’t it?? Our club will be in the hands of someone other than Arsenal…..

    Sad times….

  78. think stan as a member of the board gets first option. i guess he’ll have to ask the boss (aka his wife) if he can borrow a bit 16% jebus thats alot of cash

  79. K-TR7 says:

Rvp is back according to BBC sport…

  80. W.A.T.H says:

Neither can buy the 16% Rico without then launching a take over bid…. Don’t think either wants to do that at present…!. I reckon they may get someone else to buy them indirectly for the time being !! We shall see…!

  81. you reckon dein would come back with the russian?

  82. agirlagunner says:

Rico, I have waited two years for Denilson to come good. I think next year, the third, will be the charm!

WATH, while we’re on the topic of Fantastic Players who are Made of Glass, we could add Torres to our club. I would really love that.

How exciting is it that RvP is returning/has returned? Shouldn’t the official website now be displaying training photos to whet our appetite?

  83. he might make the bench k but i doubt he’ll play more than 20

  84. agirlagunner says:

I wouldn’t mind. Even on the bench, RvP would be a welcome sight. Plus, he can score in those twenty mins.

  85. so anyone got a spare 40mil want to go halves?

  86. rico says:

wath, good point and its not a good time for a takeover, it would upset the club – if the fat russian gets it i think that would spell the end of Arsene …. That is of course if he TRULY believes in his youth project, AU will want to do a Roma and spend money…

RvP back, if he is sat on the bench, I will be bloody happy…

  87. rico says:

agag, I’v been waiting since 31st August 2006 for him to play well 😉 😉

seriously, many think he will get better, i guess time will tell, IF he stays….

  88. you only hope that stan dont buy up the what 7 shares he needs on the sly and then use the remaining assests to buy hers up leaving us in debt like utd and liverpool

  89. K-TR7 says:

Rvp on the bench will make twichy twichier…i see sense in chamackh 07-08 we played some lovely stuff facilitated by ade’s ability to run defenders ragged with his directness and also his workrate.we will also add setpiece threat making us the complete attacking could be a masterstroke.if only the defense…

  90. rico says:

KTR7, i will be glad when the Chamakh ‘deal or no deal’ has been confirmed….

  91. W.A.T.H says:

AGAG………… Thing is with Torres rafa keeps playing him with injuries and when not recovered cos they so desperate………….. think he would be fine IF they actually got him 100% fit b4 playing him… Torres in an Arsenal shirt………. ok wake me up I’m dreaming…!

Yank over the russian anyday rico and def don’t want back stabbing dein back either…!

  92. someone else wath

on lighter side of things the comedy of mutv

  93. rico says:

WATH, I dont want either, I want our club as it used to be….. but out the two, Stan for me to..

DD, mme, now didn’t he start all this stuff off???

  94. W.A.T.H says:

Don’t get me started on dd Rico………….
Don’t you mean you want things as they used to be cos the last few yrs been pretty grim 2……….!

  95. Apparently, tottenham hotspurs sponsors for next season will be viagra;for those who can only achieve a semi!!!!!

  96. rico says:

    thats what i wrote wath 😉 😉

  97. W.A.T.H says:

    We didnt even get a quarter RSD……….. ! 🙂

    No you didnt Rico 😛

  98. but a 1/4 v barca is better than going out to pompey in semi

anyways is just a joke will leave you love birds till tomorrow nighty nite xx

  99. W.A.T.H says:

I need one of those smileys with a fishing rod……… cos I def just got a bite……….!

    Cheers RSD…!

  100. rico says:

I cheated WATH, only because you know what I meant to write… 🙂

  101. rico says:

    Why the Mr Green rsd??

  102. rico says:

I’m off to get supper, catch you tomorrow…

    Night all, be safe

  103. W.A.T.H says:

If only we could write what we meant Rico…. 🙂

  104. W.A.T.H says:

And then there will be only One……….. 🙂

  105. rico says:
