IS THAT ALL YOU’VE GOT??? Barca Get Rope-A-Doped As Never Say Die Gunners Fight Back..

As mentioned before the match, it doesn’t get much better than this. I’ve found that too much emphasis has been placed on the fact that it is imperative we finish in the CL places every year for financial reasons. It seems that many of us have become that fixated with the debt that engulfs the PL these days and the  jackpot available in qualifying for this competition, that we have forgotten why we really want to play CL football..Yes, I accept that the rewards are beneficial to the club, but for me the reason why I want us to play in this competition every season is for football reasons..There’s no better buzz than watching the team you love play in the big occasions against the big teams..The prospect of Real Madrid’s, The Milan’s and the Barca’s coming to the Emirates every season is of greater reward for me than the prospect of a bulging bank balance that we don’t use anyway..

Last night was one of those occasions and I don’t think there was a single Arsenal fan out there who wasn’t up for this and we were all hoping the players would feel the same..

The line up worried me a little..Wenger’s introduction of injury doubts Gallas and Cesc were a big risk, especially against a team like Barca and straight from the first whistle it seems the risk had backfired..

To the neutral this had to be the game of the season, but to the Gooner faithful it was heartstopping and for the majority of the match down right embarrassing..Song was almost left alone in the middle as Cesc and Diaby seemed stagnant. For the entire first half Barca swarmed the midfield  playing exhibition football and practically used us for shooting practice. The heroic Almunia being the only thorn in their side…

The difference in the teams was quite obvious..Both teams play some lovely football but Barca seem to love to defend as much as they do attack..As a back four Barca have the same weaknesses as us and in Valdes they don’t have a great keeper either, but their midfield hunts for the ball endlessly.. We gave them far too much space and we could hardly get the ball off them. When we did we weren’t allowed to play our own game. We were closed down quickly and we gave away cheap possession ..

Denilsons introduction was a key factor in ensuring a bit more stability in the midfield. Denilson has come under fire from a large section of the support, but it would be silly to suggest the addition of the little brazilian to our midfield didnt sturdy the ship..We were losing possession far too cheaply and if there was ever a time for some 5 yard safe passes it was now..Although Barca’s goals came after Denilson’s arrival, neither can be attributed to him as both were un-Barca like in their build up..Hit and hopes over the top with Ibrahimovic left in acres of space. The first lobbed over a stranded Almunia and the second smashed inside his near post…

Although Barca weren’t as dominant as they were in the first half, they had found themselves 2-0 up and it looked curtains for us, but it was the introduction of Walcott that seemed to turn the tide..Barca had given their all for 70 mins. Credit to them as they played like demons with and without the ball, but fatigue was setting in and Theos pace was too much for their FB. He applied it well. Offering us an outlet and got the game changing goal. Flying down the wing cutting inside and shooting on sight..Maybe Valdes should have saved it but it was a crucial goal…

Confidence in the team started to grow and we began to believe in ourselves again..We had Barca rocked and we began to press using the pace of Theo and hitting the balls into the box. It wasnt long before we pulled level..Nikki got himself on the end of a high ball as he so often does and cushioned a perfect header to Cesc. The captain was about to pull the trigger from 8 yards out before he was hacked down by Puyol’s clumsy attempt to win the ball..

With Nikki leading the protest vigorously, the ref (who seemed to have left his guide dog, white stick and dark glasses at home) awarded the penalty..Up stepped Captain Cool who smashed it into the net…

Fantastic fightback..We were outplayed but we never surrendered and we should all be proud of the team today..

RATINGS

ALMUNIA..9..You’ve got to admire this performance. He worked overtime in the first half, bailing us out of trouble time and time again with save after save. He has his moments and the goals we conceded were cheap, maybe he could have done better, but it would be foolish to say that we don’t owe him a great deal of gratitude for his goalkeeping in this match..We conceeded 2 when it could have been 10..

Clichy..8..I was nervous for him before kickoff. I had no idea how he was going to stop Messi and I knew that Barca were going to bombard his flank..Although he spent much of the match pegged back, when he did get forward he looked menacing and let’s be honest..Did we see much of Messi??? Solid display by the hurricane..

Sagna..6..His flank wasn’t as attacked as Clichy’s but he still had a lot of defending to do..He did get forward when he could but we looked better when Eboue was pushed back to RB..Nonetheless it wasn’t a poor performance..

Gallas..5..I really don’t know why he was risked..He wasnt fit, Barca rained attack after attack at our goal and he eventually went off injured..

Tommy V..5..He wasn’t at his best, he looked solid in parts but made some bad decisions, especially for Barca’s goals..Even Wenger was giving him a mouthful..

Cesc..9..Now the rating is not for his footballing display. It’s for his heart and fight..Football wise he was pretty much a non entity, but he was 40% fit..His mental strength though was phenominal..2-0 down, 20 minutes to go, getting played off the park and he wouldn’t let it go..The penalty was just smashed and he lasted the full 90 minutes, even with a suspected broken leg.. The performance of a true captain….

DIABY..3..Maybe i’m being harsh and maybe he was carrying a knock but the jury’s still out on this lad for me. If he can’t get himself up for this game then I don’t know whats wrong with him. We all know Diaby can be unstoppable on his day but I wish he’d do it more often..His talent is undeniable but we’ve waited 4 years for him to put a decent run of games together but 5 good games in 4 years isn’t convincing me just yet…especially when I know he’s capable of having stinkers like this..Great players have bad games but still make an impact…Diaby might as well have turned up..Let’s hope he turns it on in the return leg…

SONG..9..He was awesome once again..With the injury hampering Cesc’s display and Diaby thinking about what he was having for supper, Song was left to take on the Barca midfield by himself…There were times in the first half when you thought it was Song and Almunia V Barcelona…

Nasri..6..He got himself about a bit and made a nuisance of himself..i’ve seen better displays from him creativity wise but he worked hard.

Arshavin…2..Forgive me for thinking this but was I the only one who thought he bottled it and faked his injury..I’ve defended him long enough..He either shapes up or he fucks off because he’s turning into Adebayor..OK, he’s not half as bad as Ade, but that half is enough..

NIKKI..7..I thought he worked really hard and did well considering..His header to Cesc was clever and assured and I think it was him who fed Theo in for the 1st..

SUBS..

EBOUE..7..I’m starting to like him , finally..I dont cringe anymore when I see his name on the team sheet and I actually want him in the first team nowadays…

DENILSON..7…Never been so happy to see The Crab. He calmed it down a bit and put in a good shift too…

THEO..8..Smash and grab raid with this kid leading the way. The right sub at the right time and it paid off..He didnt let us down…

THE REF..2..I dont want to ever see this bloke again..In any game at any level..I’ve seen better from Stuart Atwell…

THE FANS..10…SHIT HOT

BARCA..10…Wow..totally out of this world.

The game itself came at a huge cost with the possibility of Cesc and Gallas being ruled out for the rest of the season..Its frustrating as Wenger knew the risk of playing them both when neither were fit..The PL is still far from over and without those two, especially our captain, it looks a little harder than it did 24 hours ago..Which is disappointing

That being said, I can’t wait for the second leg..Confidence will be high now in the squad. A performance like that, although a draw will feel like a win..Barca threw everything they had at us and I mean everything..They were something special but that could be their downfall come round two..Our fighting spirit was something out of a Rocky film..We got hit and we got hit hard, but they couldn’t put us down..I’m praying that plays on their mind a little and without Pique and Puyol we will score so it’s game on…

    Morning all..

Top post JonJon, is it right about Cesc having a broken leg??

  2. rico says:

Diaby is the main one imho who had a shocker, most of the side were shell shocked the way Barca came out of the traps, they were awesome.

With Diaby so ineffective we were like playing with 10 men from the start, Almunia put an extra £50,000 on his worth and Denilson… well was that the best he has played all season??

Song, he never ceases to amaze, must be a candidate for player of the season…

I think Theo should have come on a tad earlier, his pace scared the life out of them, who knows, we may have even nicked a winner 😉

To come back after being down and out was pretty darn good, this tie is far from over, but its going to be tough….

Wonder how many fit players we have ready for Wolves??

  3. rico says:

Gallas and Cesc out for the season!!

  4. JonJon says:

yeah rico they reckon he played last 10 mins with vroken fibula

  5. rico says:

The Terraces are on the way back 🙂 🙂

Arsenal driven by Ivan Gazidis have secretly been in talks with the Independent Football Commission (IFC), who recently made this statement..

“The IFC recommends that something is done to resolve this ludicrous situation where clubs are obliged to enforce a seating rule but plainly either cannot, or refuse to bother. This is leaving clubs, stewards, local authorities, etc in a situation where no-one seems to know what to do. Rather than running scared from what many perceive as a massive safety issue, the football authorities at least need to give their clubs some help in resolving what is fast becoming the major customer care issue at grounds”.

In conjunction with Government, the football authorities and The Arsenal football club they have decided that a trail in state of the art stadium should commence.

The Sports Minister, Gerry Sutcliffe said ” I speak to the FA on a regular basis and I have been asking their viewpoint, The Arsenal will be given a one year trail for a safe standing area and we will see what comes of it in the future.’’

It is believed that two blocks (6 and 7) of the Emirates will be standing next season.

Ivan Gazidis said “I’m delighted to be offered the opportunity to bring that experience to bear at Arsenal – a club rich in heritage and tradition, that is superbly positioned for success in the modern era. The fan’s desire safe standing areas

  6. rico says:

Hi JJ, great write up, just been catching up about Cesc, sad news 😦

  7. gradew says:

I agree with your rating of Arshavin. when he is sub. I feel like I am betrayed. diaby should not play next PL match with wolves. He need to be rested for Nou camp. We need to find a way to win the ball. If that is possible scoring against barca is not as difficult as scoring against birmingham.

    Go bentner Go bentner …..

  8. carlos says:

Rico, it’s April Fool’s Day you mug. terraces coming back? you think?

  9. K-TR7 says:

Morning.as i predicted barca used our left flank alot.diaby was poor, cesc was immobile,AA was nowhere hence we were basically playing with 8 men in the first half onslaught.song and big al deserve loads of credit since they showed up.nasri was good since the barca players couldn’t get the ball off him.denilson may not be a fan favourite but this was the type of match he revels in.he is very good technically and tactics wise.he intercepted alot of passes and kept the ball moving.he is surely a shoe in to start at the nou camp.

  10. mark c says:

Wow – I must have seen a totally different game.

In the first half – our players were walking around, maybe trotting when Barca had the ball. They passed and probed and were amazing. When we had the ball, the closed us down, and we did not play as a team to create space.

Whilst Almunia was good in the first half, he was a t fault for the first goal.

Clichy was awful – I think he is injured.
Song is midfield was not great – he played better as a CB.

Nikki B – he won all the balls down the middle, but no one was supporting him.

Nasri was awesome in closing down and played well. If felt strange as we did not play to the size of the pitch, it seemed Barca were happier to play on a bigger pitch.

I think we are now the walking wounded. Song has to play CB for the away tie, so we need either Denilson or Eastmond to step in. Nasri will replace Fabregas, and then perhaps Vela could start out wide.

We could even see Merida, RVP and Djourou over the coming games as they could make a difference.

  11. mark c says:

    Rico – 8:44 – April fool – good one.

Did you hear the one about the size of the goals being extended by a further 3 inches. You can tell that is fake as if it would come from FIFA it would be in cm’s.

  12. JonJon says:

mark u must of read a totally different post as pretty much everything u said i said…

  13. Mj says:

    Awesome game!

I kind of agree about Arshavin, he didn’t seem up for a game that any player would love to be part of!

Rico – Might want to check the date on the terraces blog article 😉

  14. K-TR7 says:

Clichy and cesc showed 110% commitment.cesc is a legend;he knew he was injured and suspended for the second leg but he gave a similar perfomance to roy keane’s perfomance against juve to send the mancs to the final.whatever people say he cares deeply for the club and if you think otherwise you must be blind.we are massive underdogs, nobody expects us to win but i’m sure with nothing to lose we will give it a go.

  15. rico says:

mark, if merida is off i wouldn’t play him – i’d rather we played a player who wants to play for arsenal…

TV was to blame for the goals imho, he was too far up the pitch and left Song exposed..

Song was awesome in both midfield and defence marc..

  16. rico says:

morning ktr7 – agree re cesc, this man loves us, he isn’t jumping ship just yet…

  17. rico says:

Who’s the mug carlos, see the smilies, april fool, now go eat humble pie!!!!

  18. rico says:

Mj, check today’s date, didn’t think anyone would actually believe me 🙂

  19. mark c says:

JJ – my view is that the whole team did not defend properly. You cant pick on a couple of players and say they did not do their job.

Nasri and Arshavin did not track back far enough and all players were not busting a gut to win the ball back, or to support players who had the ball.

Once we got into the game, maybe after 35 mins, we looked better, but Song was better as a CB that a DM.

  20. K-TR7 says:

If we can get through it would be AW’s finest achievement.theo really pegged them back.theo scares european defenders with his lightning pace and you could see barca were rattled.i feel at the camp nou if denilson, nasri and rosicky play well we will have more of the ball.nasri in the middle will ensure we are tighter in mf but as AW said we have to find out how to get the ball off them.in my post i said when barca pin you back its about how many, big al minimized them.lets ensure it doesn’t happen again.

  21. Sam says:

    Amazing fightback by the team.

First half reminded me of Alex Ferguson’s remark about Barca last year – you feel like you’re in a carousel the way the spin you around.

It showed great fighting spirit from the team, especially el kapitan!

I beleive our young guns would’ve learnt more from the first half of the game then entire year spent in training. I hope they learned the importance of closing down the opposition when you don’t have the ball, something our team is yet to learn!

The only thing that disappointed me, apart from the long term injuries to Cesc & Gallas, is that after Walcott’s goal, we didn’t manage to involve him too much in the last 10 mins as I felt we could’ve sneaked another goal which would’ve been great to carry for the second leg!

  22. rico says:

KTR7, i think barca had their night last night, the tie should have been over by half time they had so many chances. They missed them and we know that could bite them on the backside, all we have to do now is score one more than they do and we are through..

What worries me though is how poor we are at finishing too, nik again could have had a couple, diaby had a header he totally fluffed…

Sol will be back on Tuesday having had a good rest, i dont think he will play on saturday.. I would also think about having Sunu or Freeman on the bench on Saturday – i have a sneaky feeling we are going to see a few players from the reserves against wolves..

  23. K-TR7 says:

We gave them acres of space which is criminal vs barca.we should tighten it up.i almost had a heartattack in the first ten minutes,we gave them too much respect.denilson was a really good sub since he plays better in less physical games.to our credit we were clinical they weren’t and who knows maybe they will rue those missed chances.they are fragile if attacked and it was exposed when we raised our tempo as they tailed off in the last twenty minutes.the spuds/city/villa would’ve been destroyed by barca and should think twice of cl qualification.if the spuds had got our result they would probably produce a film…

  24. JonJon says:

    mark i agree with that..

although i thought nasri put in a good shift

its hard to defend as a team when its 7 V 11

gallas and cesc couldnt run and diaby and AA didnt turn up and we wondered why we got battered

  25. rico says:

    KTR7 😆 re the spuds…

  26. rico where did you get the icf statement from is it pre release cos they usual dont make a statement till the 2nd

  27. rico says:

I don’t think Nasri was that bad

I reckon in the away game, injuries aside we will see

    Al
    Sagna TV Song Clichy
    Rosicky Nasri Den Diaby
    Theo Nik

rumour is that Cesc’s scan has come back clear

  28. rico says:

Also, I bet Robin travel to Barcelona…..

  29. rico says:

Off for a bit, back shortly..

    morning rsd

  30. great post jj wish i could just copy and paste it

  31. K-TR7 says:

Rosicky has barely played for two years,we have nursed him for too long.AA and cesc are our fallen soldiers he needs to pick up the baton and soldier us on.i feel he will be our most experienced mf and will be key to our chances.i was glad iniesta was out,the first twenty minutes seemed like ninety.my barca friends said they’d take nasri over fab,i think a mf of nasri, rosicky, diaby(real one),denilson and eboue can hussle the ball and with theo on the wings who knows…

  32. Sid says:

    hello all..

for all the shit that denilson and almunia have gotten over the last few months (me included) wow.. except from one decision from almunia they were brilliant..

i dunno if this was the alcohol or me being blind, but arsenal seemed to be messy eyed the first half.. all of em were trying to stop little messy elliot and forgot most of the other team were close to as good..

the team also couldnt cope with the movement of the barcelona players, on multiple occasions there were two arsenal players in the middle of the park doing absolutely nothing but bumping into each other.. cliy was constantly being double teamed with very little help from his teammates.. the constant runs of the ball need to be tracked and arsenals positioning and which player covers the man with the ball and the man making the run off the ball needs some serious tweaking..

on a good note though, what a game.. what immense mental strength!! brilliant game! once the game settled a bit there were glimpses of why 2-2 against the best team in the world wasnt a bad result…. for barcelona 😛

keep the faith.. come on ye gooners!!!

  33. billy says:

Diaby should be able to play better in the reverse tie. He looked the shaky one in the midfield, else, on another day barca would have done nothing to us. It now looks quite possible we should beat them on their own turf.

  34. Erick says:

Mornin all 1-0 will do it for us am i right

  35. any win will do safari

  36. carlos says:

We were outplayed, outclassed, outpossessed, outstripped, you name it, the only area barca didnt outdo us in was the scoring but they came pretty close to outscoring us as well. this was barcas best performance to date since its conception and it was our worst. our players have no one to blame but themselves for their shameful performance, for large chunks of the game they assumed the role of a mat allowing barca to walk all over them. this isnt arsenal it isnt the arsenal i would kill 4. our passing was tacky, our possession . . . wait what possession we didnt have any, our mentality was just wrong, we didnt close down on barca like they closed down on us. we didnt even try to unsettle them for long stretches of time. after noticing how we instantly changed gears when walcott came on, i realized that our guys had what it took to shut barca up from the word go, but they chose to be walk overs, had our guys started the game out with that same high level of intensity they assumed when wally came on had they exposed barca to the english game i say we would have won and played a better game.

  37. carlos says:

by the way i dont think that barcas display last night is all they’ve got. theyve got more and they wont be shy to give all theyve got at the camp nou, note messi wasnt playing last night but we can all be sure that in his backyard he will play. that said the gunners performance last nyt isnt all theyve got either, they can give alot more, they too can put on hell of a show and im plumping for them to give us a firing show at the camp nou.

  38. rico says:

carlos, agree we were totally outplayed, but i honestly think the only thing they could have improved is their shooting…. they had their chance, Tuesday is our turn 🙂

  39. Erick says:

Take nothing from the gunners they tried hope we can start from where we stopped from yesterday

  40. rico says:

Erick, 1-0 in barca and we go through 🙂

  41. carlos says:

in the 2nd leg we are going to collide with a barca side with a watered down backline as puyol and gerard will sit that one out. but we are without fab. who would you say has made the bigger losses, the gunners or the blaugrana? and can our boys take advantage of barcas weakened defense without our it guy fab?

  42. W.A.T.H says:

    Greeting one and all………..!

Erick, did I say we would smash em and win 3-0…..! Ooops….! Oh well 🙂

    Ouch my head hurts…………..

  43. JonJon says:

    afternoon princess 😉

feeling a little delicate are we??

  44. JonJon says:

carlos that was the best performance ive ever seen from barca..

and yet it was our worst..

and yet they still couldnt beat us…its going to be alot closer than ppl think at the Nou camp

  45. rico says:

Ah, the hangover man is on, better late than never 😉

How much did you enjoy that game wath

JJ, i’m with you, will we nick in barca

  46. W.A.T.H says:

I’ll give you princess PVC boy………….

Allo Rico, no my head hurts cos it was spinning watching Barca ping the ball about so quick….!.

Appreciated watching a team play such great football 2b honest, as much as we gave em far to much space and didn’t put em under any pressure at all at the back they really were awesome…. However….! They made a fatal “Arsenal” mistake… they ddin’t bury the opposition and they didn’t take the chances they created which could possibly come back to haunt them…! We shall see on tuesday won’t we…!.

  47. rico says:

They were something weren’t they, I know we didn’t put any pressure on them but for me it was like watching us during some matches, all possession and no end product, in this case though i was glad…

cant wait for tuesday, sad for cesc, but it may not be such a bad thing, the occassion could have taken over and affected him…. guess we will never know now

  48. rico says:

wath – have i just written pretty much what you did, what a numpty i am, guess i just feel they have had their night, tuesday will be our night…

  49. rico says:

I reckon RvP will play Tuesday to, bet he is on the bench Saturday….

  50. Erick says:

Afternoon good people WATH yes you did guess the mixture of vodka etc got you but the never dying spirit is so much present in this squad

  51. Erick says:

    Am keeping the Faith

  52. W.A.T.H says:

Erick………….. sadly not a drop of alcohol had passed my lips when I said we’d smash em 3-0…!.

I think if we see how much time and space we allowed them from the back and we put that right on tuesday anything is possible…!. I have a feeling RVP will be on the bench next week Rico….!

  53. Erick says:

Am hoping we will be playing without Cesc and AA we are short on attack

  54. W.A.T.H says:

    We got Theo……………

    Vela………………..

    Dudu………………

    Eboooooooooooooooooooie 🙂

How about Traore left wing he’s lightning quick and gets stuck in….. Just a though.

  55. rico says:

We have enough to get through, Big Sol will be fit and raring to go 🙂

    Saturday wath, RvP 🙂

Erick – AA looked poo from the start, i reckon he bottled it and went off 😉 😉

  56. Erick says:

Wath i though AW brought him back for his attacking instinct he can be a handful for defenders and has a better cross than Clichy Hope Dudud can step up we need the squad to play play its part

  57. afternoon all so wolves what do you think
    rest or best possible team?

  58. rico says:

I mentioned Traore in the RW before and got slated for the idea 😉 not by any here of course 😉

  59. rico says:

best eleven rsd, we can still win the league, drogba is out, rooney is out for 4 weeks, if the chavs/mancs draw and we get all three points we are in with a shout…

i would though get Sunu and Freeman on the bench, we could need Freeman on Tuesday…

  60. Erick says:

the Wolves coach thinks they will be lucky if they get anything out of our game i hope we can have a big scoring day what a lift it would be for the return leg

  61. rico says:

    Cesc –

Cesc Fabregas believes Theo Walcott brought Arsenal back from the dead against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard stroked home the equalising penalty just before the end but it was introduction of the Englishman in the 66th minute that sparked the revival. He scored three minutes later and helped his side finally put Barcelona on the back foot.

“Theo made such a difference,” said Fabregas. “He went behind them. He created a lot of problems and I think he was the best player.

“We were dead at 2-0. You could never imagine we could come back. In the first half we never saw the ball. You thought you were going to get the ball then they changed sides. In the second half they scored two great goals but we had great spirit and comeback. Not everyone does that against a side like them.

“Overall it was an amazing experience and an amazing game. I will remember it for the rest of my life. My injury makes it bad but I think I would have done it anyway without being injured before.”

The result leaves next Tuesday’s return game on a knife-edge. Barcelona will be clear favourites but if Arsenal can start the second game like they ended the first then they are capable of pulling it off. Suspensions to key players just add to the drama.

“The team can definitely do it without me,” said Fabregas, whose booking means he misses the return. “Barcelona have lost big players like Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique so I don’t think it is the same without them.”

  62. Suhail.TV says:

    Hello,every one..

  63. rico says:

Erick, he is right they won’t… Nothing like a great result on Saturday to lift us, you are spot on…

  64. rico says:

Hi Suhail, did you enjoy the match…

  65. hi suhail

there no push overs safari the gold will push us all the way till we score

  66. Suhail.TV says:

Ya, stunned and relived,. Theo is a big game player.

  67. Erick says:

Guess AW should use the exact team he will be using away at Barca we need to click for 90 minutes

    Hallo Suhail 🙂

  68. rico says:

Theo did well, cesc has heaped the praise on him this morning, i hope AW plays him Saturday and not sit him on the bench…

  69. Erick says:

true Rico he was in good form lets hope he plays Maxwell in the away game we will punish them

  70. W.A.T.H says:

Off out for a bit see ya all lata………

    Theooooooooooooooooooooooooooo………… 🙂

Tray left wing is a good call Rico……!

I don’t care what is said,we battered west ham away only to draw 2-2.their stats were impressive but the most important stat was 2-2.we were not lucky because big al is paid to make saves and he duly obliged.we play well without cesc anyway since they have no idea who to mark.nasri’s ball control and dribbles at times dumbfounded alves.yesterdays game was crying out for TR7 to help in controlling the mf by keeping it ticking as a well oiled machine.he and nasri will be key at the nou camp…

KTR7, I dont think we were lucky, they fluffed their chances in my book, we showed a bit of grit in the end and came back to get a great result against a top class side, who like us, play lovely footie..

I still think cesc being out for the away game is not so bad, because of his emotions…. Ramsey against Cardiff spring to mind althogh Cesc is a lot more experienced. Like I said earlier, they had their chances, they missed them and Al did himself proud in the first half, Tuesday is going to be very very interesting….

Rico-people forget how high the stakes were last night with first leg at home.we had to be wary of conceding an away goal but barca started the game at a fiery tempo that rattled us and as i pointed out in my post yesterday when barca get the python-like grip on a game its a matter of how many.injuries to gallas and AA and early bookings to fab and song didn’t help.that match taught us what a year in training can’t about pressing for the ball like a pack of wolves when we don’t have possession.at the nou camp we will be much better since AW and the team will watch the game again to see the errors we made.who knows we may do a sansiro, bernabeu…

Fabregas ruled out for ‘at least six weeks’

Following a scan this afternoon, the Club can confirm that Cesc Fabregas has suffered a small crack in his right fibula as a result of the collision with Barcelona defender Carles Puyol during Wednesday evening’s match.

As a consequence, Cesc will miss the remainder of the domestic campaign as he will be out of action for at least six weeks.

Everyone at the Club wishes Cesc a full and speedy recovery.

  82. rico says:
