Arshavin and a couple of top cooks…..

Yesterday I read that Emirates Stadium Head Chef Julian Jenkins and Head Chef of the Diamond Club Oleg Ibragimov have scooped Gold at the British Open Cookery Championships 2010 – not sure if that was for the making of prawn sandwichs though!

In Master Chef fashion they had one hour to cook two courses, Julian prepared the starter of Cornish crab and organic red pepper cannelloni with marinated beetroot, young shoots and major lobster foam. Oleg’s main course was Best end of Southdown lamb with puy lentils, shallot puree, fondant potato and mint infused major veal jus.

None of that would be something I would eat, but hey ho they convinced the judges. That will be another pound or two added to the price of food at The Emirates then…..

Another bit of news was about Vermaelen which we all know, but I am just glad he didn’t get an extra game added on, now he can have a well earned rest before the ‘B’ game next Wednesday. If anyone deserves a rest, he does.

The little man from Russia has been talking again, thankfully this time it is to and its all good – this is what he had to say about one of my favourite players!!

“Obviously it has helped us having Bendtner back, he creates more space for the players behind him, and that offers us more time and possibilities to do something special. It helps me personally of course. And he’s good in the air – he wins a lot of balls that way and through this we can gain even more possession.

“We can play differently with him in the side – when I am playing centrally we can use only low balls, but with Nick up front we have the opportunity to play higher balls and balls in behind, varying things a bit more.

“His goals have been welcome. He’s in good form and has shown that he has the instinct for a chance – not that many teams make as many chances as we do!”

See, I have always said Nikki B would come good!! 😉 😉

Other mixed bag of news, The Football Association have announced the eight clubs that were successful with their applications to be part of the new FA Women’s Super League, launching in March 2011. The main team of course is the Arsenal Ladies.

Not so good for the reserves though, they were beaten at home by West Ham 2-0, we had the chances, but just couldn’t take them. Fabianski turned out for the reserves, not the result he would have wanted I’m sure.

Thats it folks – have a good day, not long until Saturday…

    Morning All

  2. K-TR7 says:

Morning rico.AA talked about us needing more experienced heads to dominate.he also acknowledged he can perform inspirational perfomances like the best in the world but needs to improve on his consistency.i really do hope he starts sooner rather than later.he has also praised bendtner and denilson.positive signs from AA.

  3. rico says:

Morning KTR7, its funny how the paps twist it though isn’t it – the sun have him down as saying we won’t win anything unless we buy more players…

i am with you in your opinion, AA himself needs to start playing a little better. We all know he can change a game at the drop of a hat, but just a little more consistency wouldn’t go a miss…

  4. K-TR7 says:

I have a funny feeling AA will show his worth in the two barca ties.players like him have egos, nothing would satisfy him more than outshining will be fun considering they will be on the same wing.i think rosicky and theo/eboue will start as forwards while sylvestre&song as cbs against birmingham.imagine how satisfying it will be for eddy to score them…

  5. rico says:

So do I – but only because i think he will want them to buy him in the summer, he doesn’t like england…

  6. dont you think aa get lost in translation he is russian after all and they have a very different way of talking over there.
eg it takes a very long time before a russian would ever call you his friend
prob goes back to communism and that if someone was your friend then they you would go down with them so would always ask a russian to explain aa comments from the russian.

  7. rico says:

morning rsd, see you have been touting for your your ticket 😉

I cant see why the paps don’t read his i/n on and use that rather than make it up…

  8. cos the have to fill type and make headline

  9. can you believe i found a silver for wed

  10. K-TR7 says:

I don’t think he’ll leave.guardiola would opt for a younger player or stick with players(pedro, jeffren&assullin)from the cantera.Assulin is very similar to messi,he is an israeli intnl as backup to benayoun.knowing barca they might also go after one of the WC stars.rico AA will be fine here,he said he’ll only leave us for retirement in st.petersburg.FORZA ARSENAL!

  11. rico says:

    i know, i saw 😉

  12. rico says:

i dont think they will either, but aa wants to go there so he will play his socks off..

if barca wanted him, they would have got him last summer i think..

ktr7, i dont trust a word that comes out of plyers choppers 😉

  13. Erick says:

Mornin all, AA in my book has alot of talent but he must raise his game talking wont do but anyway he is entitled to his opinion K-TR7 what it would mean to Dudu to score against the brums RSD media are known to twist shoes to mean boots 🙂 Rico what did you say the Chef’s were cooking an alien dish 😉

  14. rico says:

Morning Erick, sounds alien to me 😉

  15. Big Guns says:

Hey Rico and co..hope ur all ok! Not long till the Brum game and apparently the weather is looking good for that day…every little thing helps!

I’m gutted that because of some insignificant little ref I’ll be deprived of seeing one of my favourite players. But at least Tweety will be there! I’m also hoping that Rosicky plays instead of Arshy – i hate to say it, but i’m going off that little lad. I’d forgive him his comments to the press (which i’m sure have been twisted a little by our press) as long as he was pulling super performances out of the bag but – admitedly to my untrained eye – I think Rozza offer more these days and can be relied upon do deliver. Lol, to be honest, Id even stick Eduardo in front of Arsh at the mo!

Also, have you heard that Gallas might be fit for the Barca clash after all? Apparently, he is now running with balls (no pun intended!) and feeling good!

  16. K-TR7 says:

AA should have media silence in the same manner cesc refuses to speak to spanish media since they always contradict him.its funny since AA said we needed more players to compensate for long term injuries but the media twist it to say we’re not good enough.AA needs to play more and talk less,we wouldn’t want the media to destablise the squad in the run in.bendtner was on loan at brum,i think he would be delighted to nik a couple in the buildup to barca.our players should be careful especially against ridgewell who has made a couple of rash challenges this season where he has ended injuring a linesman.fingers crossed we come out unscathed and with no new injuries.i’ll watch barca vs mallorca to see pep’s tactics in buildup to our match.VIVA ARSENAL!cheers.

  17. rico says:

Morning BG, good to hear from you again. I bet you are getting pretty excited?

Not only that about Gallas, reports are that he is about to sign a new contract, his agents have been in town 😉

I think AA is a wonderful player, on his day, but I also think he talks too much sometimes. But his i/v to is quite different to that in the papers i think, typical press here!

  18. Erick says:

Big guns abt AA I have been saying at 80k a week we should be getting alot from him week in week out but thats not the case i also feel he needs a challenge and that may be in the form of warming the bench and watch Rosicky that said i believe AA is talented

  19. rico says:

    Great stuff ktr7, i cant wait…

  20. rico says:

I’m not sure players talk to the paps here, i think the gutter reporters just steal bits and bobs from a club i/v and make it ‘news’ – of course twisting what is said along the way…

  21. Big Guns says:

Lol, i am Rico, and hope we score early to calm any nerves! Strangely enuff, I think WOLVES will give us more problems than the gents from Brum. I think Bham have pretty much shot their bolt and look a bit knackered to me – totally understandable, considering their achievements this season. I mean, they can’t batter Superman every time can they?

Wolves on the other hand, seem buoyed by their recent form and should easily have drawn against Man U. They now also have momentum on their side after doing to West Ham what we couldn’t (although we were playing against the ref that evening too) and are on a mission not to be relegated. I’m sure we will win but for those expecting us to totally batter them – well, I don’t think so.

Great news about the boy Billiam of course…we need him for the next three years, i reckon!

  22. rico says:

Wolves certainly did well against the hammers last night, but coming to the emirates is a different story BG, we will romp passed them 😉

I though B’ham would be all but relagated by now, they have been a surprise package this season..

You don’t want us to score too many on Saturday BG, you have the difficult task of not celebrating 😉

  23. K-TR7 says:

If rosicky is given a chance to play ahead of AA he would easily take his slot on current form.AA can shoot like rvp, pass like cesc and dribble like nasri;he’s the complete attacker.TR7 is 2nd to AA in completeness since AA has the x-factor which rosicky has to a lesser extent.people forget how talented morzart is.

  24. rico says:

KTR7, I love Rosicky, one of my fav’s, I would play him on the left and AA on the right in any formation.

In fact if evry player we have in our squad were fit it would be a real struggle to pick a best eleven, I would need a team of fourteen 😉

  25. rico says:

I wish we would go back to a 4-4-2

Midfield of AA, Cesc, Song, Rosicky

  26. we play 442 all the time rico

  27. but the midfield is
    sicky song diaby nasri
    cesc niki up front

  28. Big Guns says:

Haha! Im taking your advice about sitting on my hands!
I’m just hoping that it doesn’t come down to goal difference or when we handed Man U those three points – gift wrapped and sealed with a kiss – early in the season at OT.

Rico, is at all Gunners fans in ur family? My two daughters take pleasure in supporting every team that plays against us, although the 9 yr old is beginning to show some interest – she now knows the difference between the Premier League and Champions League competitions!

Erick, without a doubt, the lad is talented – his stunning strikes against the top clubs prove that. Or perhaps he is trying just as hard but teams have him more worked out than before? He seems to get no time on the ball now and as soon as he gets it, about half of the opposing team’s players literally jump on him! lol, sometimes u can’t even see him through the melee of players surrounding the diminutive fellow!

  29. rico says:

we line up very different rsd, i havent a clue! when we start though it seems to be 4-6 😉

  30. Erick says:

I feel Rosicky has not been given a chance to play 90min like AA has think he might start against the Brums and probably AA will be rested

  31. Patrick7 says:

Rico, did you miss the headline that Villa is available……
or has Nik taken over. LOL

  32. rico says:

They are now, but my sister is a manc fan but a season ticket holder at Reading, my brother is a Manc fan, but goes to watch Reading when he comes home (he’s in the usa)

Most of my aunts/uncles are Reading too, as was I when I was young and used to go to Elm Park every home game.

The other side of my family are fans of Liverpool, that’s one of the reasons I dispise them 😉

  33. rico says:

Hi P7, nice to see you buddy, you still in France??

I saw he is up for 40M – I think he will stay in Spain though 😦 😦

Mind you, I would rather that than he join either of the Mancs…

  34. rico says:

rsd – thats what i mean, we have so many, who do we pick??

Rosicky should always start if he is fully fit imho 😉

  35. Erick says:

Aw has been saying we have been playing 4-3-3 but with the return of Nikky its has changed may be its the 4-4-2

  36. rico says:

Still not convinced about Nik P7, not sure I ever will be, if we could do a swap with him and David Villa – oh my, if only 🙂

  37. Patrick7 says:

Yes, but moving to Cyprus as soon as we have sold here – more sun/shorter winters please!

Agreed, I also hope he doesn’t get into the Chavs revolution either!

  38. Erick says:

BG lately AA has been wasteful infront of goal i rem him missing one against Porto with no marker in sight at the weekend everything he tried failed but he had a breathing problem y didn’t AW sub him and Rosicky watch Chewing gum on the bench i don’t know

  39. really pat nice for you but so damn hot in summer almost unbearable

  40. Big Guns says:

Lol, are Reading Man U’s feeder club? (In terms of fans rather than players!) There was a time in the early nineties – in the days of Cantona – i used to enjoy watching Man U play. In those days they wernt renowned for cheating and diving like they are now and were even generally liked. Look at what they have turned into over the years – a fat, bloated, bullying, fouling monster, reliant on officials and cheating and detested by all. Other than that, I love ’em. Lol! Rant over and i’ll be back soon!

  41. rico says:

Very nice P7, I love the sun, sadly though we aren’t getting much here at the moment, rain, rain, rain 😦

  42. Erick says:

P7 Chelsea fans are tired of the splashing the cash with no results, Carlos draws or looses tonight he will be fired 😉 😉

  43. rico says:

😆 BG, you make sure you come back, and its good to rant 😉

  44. are best line up would prob be at the moment
    sanga billy thomas clichy
    rosixty song diaby aa
    cesc Rvp

    but obviously horses for courses

is nice that aw can do that

  45. lol rainy old blighty

  46. rico says:

Erick, that is eactly why AW loves being at a club like ours, its run within (too much sometimes) its budget and the pressure is not so intense. Look at how much the chavs spend and by all accounts they should be head and shoulders ahead of the rest – fact is, they are not and every manager gets the sack, eventually…

Wouldn’t it be funny though if tonight they lost and Carlo goes, I would laugh my socks off

  47. Big Guns says:

I hope ur wearing Arsenal socks, Rico!

  48. rico says:

when you getting you ticket then rsd ?

I dont like Cesc up top, he is creative player and should only be alongside Song imho.

  49. rico says:

Ah, I must get some BG 😉 😉

  50. Patrick7 says:

rsd – 40C isn’t a problem (with ceiling fans), we get that here in the centre of France. If it gets towards 50 we might have to use our timeshare points and escape for that period. One things certain: we’re not coming back to GB except for family visits/courses. It’s been 21+ the last 3 days & is set now to stay 5-10 above your temperatures until next Jan & it’s much cheaper to live here despite the weaker pound.

  51. Patrick7 says:

I hope JD looks like Sol when he comes back & has picked up on his leadership qualities or TV has, then we’ll have a meaner defence. We still need one more there to replace Sylvestre.

  52. who can afford to live in london now days

cesc has been playing the ghost stiker most of the season rico thats why he has 18 goals this season
as for ticket i’ll picking them up outside the tout has mine already paid was more than the flight £250
got me room today £50 for two nights not bad

  53. rico says:

    P7, I’d swap with you today ..

I am not so sure on that one rsd 😉

  54. K-TR7 says:

In 07-08 season our downfall started when rosicky got injured.he can offer more to the team at the moment compared to AA who seems to have reached a comfort zone.mourinho wouldn’t play AA with the attitude he displays on the pitch;he has suspended balotelli,he did the same to joe cole at the chavs.i wish AW had the balls to just drop him to show him his place isn’t guaranteed.

  55. rico says:

He won’t KTR7, unless of course he did but was ‘injured’…

  56. K-TR7 says:

AA should know better.cesc is quiet,AW is quiet, what gives him the right to spout in public as he pleases?we don’t need any distractions does he think his teammates will feel?we have had one too many mercenaries and it would be sad if he was remembered that way.AA should first look at his own perfomances.i’m so pissed with him right now!

  57. Edmond Dantes says:

    Hi guys

I want to talk about something different. One blog has named Eboue as their Arsenal player of the season.
In terms of the EPL this is how I see it at the moment in terms of the stats:
    #1: Cesc (Arsenal) 26 apps, 15 goals, 15 assists
    #2: Shrek (Manure) 29 apps, 26 goals, 4 assists

  58. Edmond Dantes says:

So Cesc is leading the way imo. Not that you will ever get that impression from the British media the way they’ve been lauding Rooney.

  59. Edmond Dantes says:

    * If an equal weighting is assigned to goals and assists

  60. rico says:

i realised ktr7, you are not normally so cross 😉 but i see exactly where you are coming from…

morning edmond… good point well made

  61. Edmond Dantes says:

Ancelotti says that 86 points will be enough to win the title. Was hugely disappointed with Liverpool’s second half showing on Sunday. Hopefully Chelsea can get something out of the Manure match. Its inbetween their 2 Bayern games.

  62. Edmond Dantes says:

A draw between those two will suit us best

  63. K-TR7 says:

AA should be glad AW gave him a chance.barca wrote him off even spuds thought he wasn’t good enough.he came and gets paid more than our skipper but instead of repaying the faith he sulks, moans and displays astonishing levels of arrogance.i don’t know how AW can continue to stomach this,i know i wouldn’ the way AW is the 9th most paid manager on earth, mou is highest paid.messi has overtaken becks in terms of earnings.

  64. rico says:

we can only hope is performances were due to him being injured, now he is fit he should play to his potential, starting this weekend…

  65. rico says:

Pompey have been granted permisiion to sell players outside the transfer window – they can’t play for their new club until next season though.

Any Pompey players you would like to see AW buy??

  66. rico says:

Im off for a while, hope to catch up later

  67. so who do you want the rico?

  68. rico says:

    none ! 😉

  69. rico says:

France international Loic Remy has pleaded with his club Nice to allow him to join Premier League chasing Arsenal FC in the summer.

The 23-year-old forward was reportedly close to joining Arsenal FC in the summer, only for Arsene Wenger to baulk at Nice’s £13 million valuation. The North London Premier League club have since agreed a deal to sign Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh in the summer, but the player still dreams of playing at the Emirates.

Lyon have had three bids rejected for the player they sold two years ago for £6.5 million, but rather than covet a return to his former club, the French forward admits he is desperate to play for Arsenal FC under the guidance of Arsene Wenger.

Remy is quoted by the Daily Mail, saying: “My preference would be Arsenal over Lyon.”

“I won’t hide it. They are a young team with a developing game and with ambitions.”

“I really take pleasure in watching them play. It is an ideal place to continue to progress.”

“You never know in football what will happen. But Arsenal are a club that make me feel desire

  70. blah

who doesn’t want to play for us

  71. messi might be good but he still argy
    divering c
