Many fans loved the moment when Arsenal Football Club announced they were to finally have a television programme of their own, I certainly was. Finally we had caught up with Manure and the Chavs who already had their own televison programmes up and running, not to mention the Spanish sides.
I was disappointed at first when I saw the ‘opening hours’ were limited, but I loved having access to the youth games, reserves games and of course the ladies games.
One man though used to really get on my nerves when he either reported our news, commentated on live matches or during the general chit chat about our club and our players..
That man was, is, Stewart Robson – he played for us between 1981 and 1986 but to listen to him you would have thought he had played for Spurs or another London Club, but certainly not ours!
He always talked utter clap trap and often came across as being very negative about what was going on at Arsenal!
Yesterday afternoon though, he surpassed his own negative standards – this is what he said during an interview on Sky Sports. The interview was in relation to the events at the weekend.
It’s not verbatim, but near as it can be:-
I/V -Arsene Wenger says its more than a coincidence three players seriously hurt through bad tackles and he says they don’t get enough protection..
Stewart Robson replies – I don’t think he is right unfortunately, I don’t think Shawcross intended to hurt Ramsey, I don’t think Taylor intended to hurt Eduardo, the worse challenge was the one on Diaby up at Sunderland, that was a poor challenge but that was several years ago now – I think Arsene Wenger has to be a little bit careful because it’s only a couple of months ago when Gallas made that really poor challenge on the Bolton player Mark Davis – and probably the worst challenge i have seen for a long while is the challenge that Diaby made on a Bolton player a year and a half ago..
Of course, the injuries they received weren’t quite as bad and i think that is what has made it worse for Arsenal. The key thing is that everyone gets behind Aaron Ramsey at the moment!
What a knob!! If he is still at the club, Sack Him!!
Straight after the interview with Robson, Charlie Nicholas came on to answer the same question.
This is his reply:-
Charlie Nicholas – Played for Arsenal 1983 – 1988 (I loved him)
What Arsene Wenger says has not always been portrayed the way he has said it, what he is saying is, when he plays away at niggly teams it’s what it builds up to, because the crowd get up and then they say Arsenal are soft when we are in their face – then some of the managers stand up and say Arsenal don’t like this, we want to be in their face, we want to rough them up and they are quite proud of that fact; but it’s what it can lead to, there is nothing wrong with the manager saying that as factual as that’s the way they see it, buts it’s what it can lead to and players sometimes believe they can get away with more physical attributes of bullying Arsenal than they can with any other team because of the way that Arsenal play and I think for the last two or three seasons, Arsene Wenger does have a strong point!!
Has Charlie Nicholas not said what we have being saying for three or four seasons? At last, not only has a big man in football stood up and said it as it is, he’s also a pundit on Sky Sports.
Refreshing isn’t it?
Wales Manager John Toshack has spoken to Aaron – This is what he told Sky Sports
“It is a horrific injury, it makes you want to vomit. It was a sad, unfortunate incident,”
“I spoke to him this morning and he seems in decent spirits but it is a blow for the player, the club and us.
“All we can do now is hope for a speedy, successful recovery, but obviously it is going to be a long one.
I wasn’t going to write about the Aaron Ramsey incident today, but after hearing that pratt Robson speak, I felt the need to share..
I know whose view I share, how about you?
Tomorrow I promise not to mention it again, honest.. I will leave you with this ……
I read somewhere yesterday that Cesc has said two things – one is that he isn’t leaving us in the summer, the second is he would love Rooney to play for Arsenal…
Cesc, if what I read is true about you staying then I am one happy Gooner, now go off and tap Rooney up – you can do it 😉
Have a nice day you all…….
