The Cream Beat the Black Cats and Claw Back Up the Table..

Arsenal 2-0  Sunderland

I suppose this match was always going to be an anti climax compared to the run of games that we have just had, but how important it could turn out to be.
Everton had already given us a helping hand and a win for us would put us just 2 points behind the Salford’s.
I kind of sort of knew how the game would pan out even before it started. The ingredients were all in place, we were at home, just had a midweek game away in Europe with only two days rest, an average team coming to town, injury crisis. Blah blah, belief, blah blah..

When the teams were announced it brightened things up a tad. Ramsey in for Diaby, Song back to replace the Crabman, Theo in for Rosicky and what turned out to be the most exciting change Eboue in for Sagna.

The first goal came from great work from EE, he put it on a plate for Nikki to tap in from 3 yards out.

We did our usual 66% possession and missed a hatful of chances, It was one of those games where it would be better if the opposition scored first or equalised, then we would have focused, but the longer the game went on there was always that niggling doubt in the back of our minds that Sunderland could sneak a goal back and when they got a free kick when normal time was nearly up, I thought we could blow it.

Instead a minute later, Fabregas just got to the line of the penalty box and got tripped, I would have swapped it for the shout Rosicky had in the week, but none the less we were given something that was as rare as hens, Fabbie stepped up to do the business. I watched his goal celebration, he doesn’t look like a man packing his bags to me..

Almunia… 7.. I know he isn’t everyones cup of tea, but thank the lord he is back.. Did quite well when needed.

Eboue.. 8.5.. If he could play like this every week he would be the number one right back choice. We either need a more energetic midfielder who could cover him going forward or Sagna will always get the nod in the bigger games.

Vermaelen.. 7.5.. An excellent performance even though he looked a little awkward at times on the right hand side.

Silvestre.. 6.. One of his best displays in an Arsenal shirt, I am sure I heard the commentator say we have offered him a new contract.. Not the best plan for an ambitious club..

Clichy.. 7.. He went back to basics, he is a defender foremost and yesterday he defended, and quite well

Song.. 7.5.. He had another good game, he is setting high standards now and consistent. Would you swap him for Cana?

Fabregas.. 8.. Really he was the best player on the park, but for him a average performance, I don’t see how he managed to find his way into the refs book.

Ramsey.. 6.5.. He does some great stuff, yet his work can be undone with his over elaborate keeping of the ball in dangerous area’s.. He must wear different boots when he plays for Wales, he cannot hit the target for us.

Nasri.. 7.5.. A very tidy, but Hleb like performance.. End product please.

Walcott ..6.. Oh Theo, if only you could play the final ball, how many final passes did you cock up?

Bendtner.. 7.. When he stood in the wall defending the 89th minute free kick you could see he is clearly 6”-7” taller than either Vermaelen or Song, he just needs commitment and confidence he could be a monster in the air and with good feet for a big guy..

The Subs were not on for long so no marks given.

All in all a good days work, considering the midweek European hangover…

So all you gloom merchants plaster up you wrists and join us for a title run in and we are involved.. This is what supporting is all about, it doesn’t ever get much better than this. Enjoy the ride.

    Morning Roadsters

I didn’t see all the game, just listened to the commentary on ATV online. Kenny Sansom had the same view about Eboue – his MOTM

Just watching the game now 🙂

I really hope the Silvestre new contract offer is untrue, we need better than him for next season..

  2. rico says:

Just watching Theo’s first cross, which was right across area where we have a problem is, no-one can keep up with him – had Nik been a bit quicker on his toes…..

  3. rico says:

I love the heading by the way ave 😉

  4. rico says:

Gossip this morning is that Clichy could be on his way…

  5. rico says:

Matt Le Tiss rubbished Nikki B yesterday, he said he will never be a No1 striker in a top side..

I agree with him, his finishing is as bad as Theo’s and he gets a bashing for his..

  6. W.A.T.H says:

Why you talking to yourself Rico 🙂
Saw the game yesterday…. A team that’s still trying to walk the ball into the net and then scared crapless knowing we very shaky at the back….! Can’t kill teams off as usual which just makes things worse as the game goes on and you know your clinging to a one nil lead……

  7. rico says:

Morning WATH, I like talking to myself, i argue less 😉

I am only up to our fist goal, we should already be 3/4 up, and your are right, pass how did Cana not see red for he two footed challenge…

  8. W.A.T.H says:

Yeh that lunge from Cana was a joke you just know full well if that was one of our lot we’d of got a red….! Chances were wasted pass pass pass far to much and not enough comfidence to take the responsibilty to have a go…. For a 6ft 6″ striker why is Bendy left or right wing half the time…? IS he not told to stay in the middle so he can get on the end of crosses although he’d need to be in the seast to get on the end of half of Theo’s crosses…!

  9. W.A.T.H says:

U like talking to yourself cos your a lady and then ur always right 🙂

  10. rico says:

When Nik gets himself in the box, he runs behind the defenders, yesterday a few times he should have gone in front of them, he would have scored, is it Theo’s poor cross or poor movement by Nik?

  11. Erick says:

Morning every nice rating Ave i have to agree Matt i dont see B52 scoring goals 4us he just lacks that killing instinct of Torres or Drogba but nice team performance you go to love Song

  12. rico says:

They have always done that, I used to get frustrated with Ade as he was always out on one of the wings instead of getting in the box. I think its since Henry used to, but none of ours have the pace and intelligence to play the way he could.. 😦

  13. W.A.T.H says:

    I see u’ve missed me then 🙂
Nikky is pro-active enough in the box he waits for things to happen instead of making things happen and attcking the spaces and the ball maybe it’s comfidence or maybe he just doesnt think he’s gonna get the service but if he also demands where he wants the ball and into what area’s and gets himself there maybe the passes and crosses will come more…?

  14. W.A.T.H says:

I wonder if it’s down to AW trying to fit round balls into square holes as usual Rico, play your players to their strenghts and don’t try to make them what they ain’t…! He’s a big fella who needs to lead the line and get decent service end of… He ain’t a winger so should never be there…!

  15. rico says:

Morning Erick – Song had another really strong game

  16. W.A.T.H says:

Should be Nikky ISN’T por-active enough in the box….! oops sorry 🙂

  17. W.A.T.H says:

    Oh balls…………………… pro-active….!

  18. rico says:

I think it just him wandering – like you say, get up top, in the box and make yourself look a big target, right now any crosses we do get in go over everyone, I’m not convinced by him one bit – that’s why I am so excited about Chamakh 😉

I live in that ‘anyone has to be better than Nik’ world right now…

  19. rico says:

I guessed WATH 😉 He is not busy enough, he always looks lazy…

  20. rico says:

I thought Gordon had a good game yesterday, what a difference a keeper makes 😉

  21. W.A.T.H says:

Chamakh looks like another lazy arse as well though rico also don’t score enough goals and comes across as bargain basement cheap buy as usual instead of going out and buying top top qulaity that we should be buying…!. Bendy needs to do far more BUT as said the quality of the crosses leaves a lot to be desired but you also can’t complain if your never in the right place… get there and then complain about the service…. job done…!

  22. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, pls pls pls lets not mention the word goalkeeper seeing as our best one is on loan at Brentford…. As for you being A flapianski lover I rest my case… I have said all along out supposedly top 3 goalies would make one decent one if they were put together…!

  23. rico says:

How the heck was that free kick at the end be given, what a joke..

Another bad ref day, Knob of the Night for Steve Bennett…

  24. Erick says:

You can not compare Nikky, Ade and Henry, Henry is in a class of his own speed, intelligent and killer instinct but I have to agree with Wrath AW should use players in their strong positions

  25. rico says:

Erick, trust me, I don’t, what I am saying is Nik and Ade think they can do what TH used to do but they cant now and never will be able to…TH was one in a million..

  26. Erick says:

I get it but you have to admit Barca also got raw deal they got a photocopy he wasnt the TH we all knew

  27. JonJon says:

    ooo ave i liked it…

le tiss got it wrong yesterday, he said it could have gone either way but i thought we dominated that game..we pissed all over sunderland-if we had a winger with theos pace who could actually play football it could have been 6-7..we let them off..

stand out performances for me were eboue and nasri..that was the eboue of 2006, energetic and direct bombing down the wing from deep and showing theo how its done..and nasri showing why we paid 12mil for him..

i think we still need a finisher..nikkis more of a link up man..drifts out to the wings and comes helps with the build up play but it looks like we play a 4-6-0 formation…nobodies got a killer instinct…

a nice three points though…sunderland always give us a tough game but we mashed em up…

  28. Erick says:

JJ I had actualy predicted a 6-1 score but forgot Torres plays 4 liverpool 🙂 Mornin

  29. W.A.T.H says:

JJ, we have needed a proper goalscored for 3 seasons and AW still has his wallet stuck up him rear end….. He’s made the same mistake 3 seasons running and we have to listen to the same excuses time n time again when in fact all we really need is 2/3 players to make this team really very very good…! Am sure at times AW thinks we’re all very gullable and stupid…!.

  30. JonJon says:

henry took time to settle but dont forget he was part of the holy trinity of henry etoo and messi who swept all before them…they only paid 16 million for him and we gave him a 10 million handshake…i think barca got a very good deal…

chamahk offers nothing nikki doesnt…his record suggests he aint a goal scorer either and if he cant tear the french league up hows he supposed to fix our problems….

    hes just another freebie..

  31. Erick says:

Point on Wrath a keeper , Defender and a striker all world class period

  32. JonJon says:

after this season it dont matter if we win anything or not…we need a bad ass gk and a bad ass striker in the summer..

were doing it the hard way really…

  33. W.A.T.H says:

Totally agree Erick…. A world class goalie someone the back four actually trust…. Another centre half ala Tomas Vermaelen, still need another ball winner in midfield and Can we pls have Torres twin brother…? It’s scary wondering how good Torres would of been had we had the balls to of bought him…! how sad…!

  34. W.A.T.H says:

JJ, we always do it the hard way but it really would help if AW bought the right ppl and not the bargain basement cheap skates….! Yep we got tons of injuries but we seem to get them every season so make sure we got the players and the squad to cope, had another opportunity to nik the league this year and he blew it yet again being a tight arse and gutless in the transfer market…!

  35. rico says:

JJ, I honestly think Chamakh would be better with us, his goal scoring record is just like that Lardy git we got rid of, in that I mean when he was happy he was getting goals, as soon as unrest came in the goals dried up.

I wouldn’t be surprised if TH came back to us in the summer on a cheap deal, he is set to leave Barca

  36. Erick says:

JJ its true Henry Eto and Messi were the most feared attack but looking at what he gave to Barca in terms of football contribution cant equal what he did at Arsenal most of it almost single handly

  37. rico says:

Citeh are reported to be going for Gerrard and Torres in the summer in a £140M deal…. Yeah right!!

  38. JonJon says:

if gallas and sol sign new deals then we’ll have 2 world class cb’s with 2 able back ups..

keepers a definate and so is a hitman in the mould of drogba, torres, rooney..

    an energetic midfielder too…

  39. W.A.T.H says:

So basically Rico Chamakh is another moody striker who performs when he feels like it ??? that’s the last thing we need….! Get someone proper….!

  40. rico says:

JJ, what would you think about Stephen Ireland… He is peed of at Citeh and suggestion is he hopes AW steps up his interest..

  41. JonJon says:

i know erick..but we got 9 years of him..he had another 2 left in him at least and barca got that for a measley 16 million

chamakhs not really wat we need cos he runs the channels..all our strikers run the channels as it is…we need someone who runs in the box

and yeah the injury excuse is becoming boring cos wenger lets every transfer window go by and then the inuries kick in…

  42. Erick says:

Rico to be honest i have not seen Chamakah in action so i can not say much but we need Torres twin brother just as Wrath has said so if he is close to being his twin why not Wenger has to buy this time round no excuses

  43. W.A.T.H says:

All we need JJ is a striker who stays in the box and gets on the end of everything that we create…..! We had injuries b4 the transfer window AW did nothing….. ain’t that a surprise though…!

  44. rico says:

WATH – he just wanted to move and told the club that, I don’t think he sold himself to the media the way Lardy did – Lardy was about money, Chamakh just wants to play in the PL 😉

  45. K-TR7 says:

As i said yesterday players like eboue are not always appreciated for their efforts as he was mom yesterday and almost helped us equalise at porto.i have been on nasri’s case for the past few weeks but that was much better, you could see he has talent and an end product will see him explode, congrats samir.Theo is getting there,he looked dangerous with his runs and pace only his end product is letting him down.if he can improve there he will be a massive asset in our run in.thanks to coco for saving us yesterday .

  46. rico says:

Trouble is Erick we all know that kind of player costs mega bucks and our club won’t pay out that kind of money..

Since Henry left, who have we had up front…??

Like someone said the other day here, once the goals dried up from the defence and midfield there is nothing…

Oh, Jay Simpson scored a good goal yesterday 😉

  47. rico says:

Morning KTR7 – I thought Theo looked better yesterday, and against Porto he defended for a chance too.

Clichy, Sagna and Theo all need to go to the ‘Learn to Cross Night School’ 🙂

  48. rico says:

    chance = change! Doh..

  49. JonJon says:

i like ireland..hes better than denilson..but hes more of an attacking midfielder and is he better than cesc, nasri, rosicky…??

what we need is someone who can fight it out with song…cos denilson aint good enough..someone with energy…

  50. W.A.T.H says:

Bottom line Rico the fella ain’t good enough for what we want, he’s no different to what we got and I want someone who makes me excited when they say he signing cos I actually know he will make a difference….! The kind of buzz you got when DB10 signed…. you just knew……..!

  51. Erick says:

City will be a threat next season and if Wenger continue with is excuses we will be in big trouble Gerrald and Torres in City they would be scoring goals just for fun Rico Ireland is more of a creative player and in that department we have more than we need

  52. JonJon says:

theos always had pace..we now thats his atrribute..

but i thought yesterday was the perfect example of why we should let him go…that was theo at his best..and he was still crap…

good pace, got into the space but found too many cul de sacs, has no end product and cant dribble…hes got no technique whatsoever…

hes been at arsenal 4 years if he hasnt learnt the basics now he never will

  53. Erick says:

    Is = his Oops

  54. JonJon says:

oh and eboues appreciated at rb

wengers caused all the problems for eboue by signing sagna, fucking up his confidence and then playing him out of position for the next 4 years…

eboues a rb thats where he plays…

  55. rico says:

    So that’s a no then… 😉

JJ, I dont think AW would sell him, he talks him up too much..

  56. rico says:

WATH, I have given up on one of those kind of signings long ago – anyone out there who is that good will be snapped up by the rich clubs – unless of course its football over money..

  57. Erick says:

Exactly what Wrath was saying AW should use players in their strong position

  58. W.A.T.H says:

We live in hope Rico…………….. There are still quality players out there and if we stop being so tight then am sure we can get one or two that would give you goose bumps when u see they have signed…!

  59. Erick says:

AW will have to break his principles if we are come out of trophy drought Rico

  60. JonJon says:

we could still win the title yet…doubt we’ll get the cl but the pl is still very much on….

we dont have the squad to compete with the big boys so we can forget the cl

but look at our fixture list..its easy..we can beat those teams…

one thing is for sure though…wenger never strengthens his team so we will never win back to back titles under him…never have never look likely to..

  61. rico says:

Erick, WATH – that’s just it, he won’t break the bank, but come the end of the season, I will again believe he might, I think the same every transfer window 🙂

  62. rico says:

But JJ, In six years time all our youth would have grown up and we will be so much stronger, a youngish squad with great resilience and energy and who are mentally strong!!

Thats when we will be able to compete 😉

  63. W.A.T.H says:

In six years they’d all of gone off to a big club Rico and made the board another load of cash…. Not a hope in hell of us winning the league JJ…. Just not good enough and if Sunderland can make four clear 1on1’s with the goalie it only needs a slightly better team or striker and we will be in the crap as usual.

  64. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters..

Perhaps it isn’t a point of us having to get much better it is about other teams around us, the usual suspects are getting worse.
And the noose is tightning around the clubs that buy the League.. Home grown players rule comes in next year I believe and the rule on spending a proportion of turnover will follow I am sure..
That stupid youth system we have will be like money in the bank for a rainy day..

  65. K-TR7 says:

Utd have been so lucky:milan should’ve destroyed them but had no shooting boots, shava had an offday at the grove, hull denied a clear penalty for rio’s elbow on fagan,10 own goals scored etc. This has not been helped by the english media overrating shrek who make no mistake is a brilliant player.comparing him &saying he is better than messi/cr9 is criminal as he isn’t there yet.what rooney has done for one season cr9/messi do consequtively season after season.rooney’s first touch isn’t comparable to europe’s elite and also has a very limited skill set for an attacking player.he is a good player, but the media are not helping his case at all making fans from other nations hate england.

  66. rico says:

WATH – I realise, just taking the p**s out of the club really 😉

Morning Ave, fine post me old mucker 🙂

  67. avenell says:

I hate to say it but Rooneys workrate and all round game makes him one of the best players in the world..

Man U miss Tevez for his workrate nearly as much too..

  68. avenell says:

Cheers rico.. it was a 45 min one.. 🙂

  69. avenell says:

I missed MOTD.. did we get the last spot and a canning as usual?

  70. W.A.T.H says:

Morning Av, your dead right mate others playing crap and stuffing up is merely making us look better than what we are…! the problems are still there week in week out….! no way AW can’t see em so why don’t he do something about it..? so so so annoying..!

  71. K-TR7 says:

For those who don’t believe me old rednose made cr9 the talisman over shrek because cr9>shrek.cr9 could score tapins, headers, blistering pace, release thunderbolts, mesmerize defences with roulettes among other tricks and skills, plenty of flair, freekicks, penalties…he was the complete many of those can shrek do?i rest my case.

  72. W.A.T.H says:

K-TR7………….. would you want Shrek in an Arsenal shirt…????????????? Enough said, like him or hate him he’s a great player… Can’t stand the inbred monkey but he’s quality…!

  73. K-TR7 says:

The media have also done the same to theo,MOTD made him look brilliant yesterday with some papers overrating his perfomance.rooney is one of the best in the world i agree but not the best since workrate only doesn’t make you the best and if that was the case kuyt would have a whole accolade of awards.

  74. JonJon says:

    rooneys class

id have him in our squad in a jiffy…

but thats what we need i think..somebody with that typr of destruction upfront…

even with robin fit we still lack something that players like rooney, drogba and torres bring to the table…

howdy ave..nice one i liked it…i didnt think silvestre was that good though…

  75. avenell says:

That goal Rooney scored against us for Everton wasn’t from workrate.. And he has pace and power..

ManU would have struggled more if they had lost him last summer instead of Ronny..
Rooney is a winner.. (even if it means cheating)

  76. avenell says:

    Morning WATH, JJ and K-TR7..

Silvestre is never that good so any game where he isn’t a liability he gets a good mark.. 😉

  77. K-TR7 says:

I think you’ve all misunderstood my point:rooney is class but for the media to insinuate he is better than cr9&messi is just plain bias.he will be on the shortlist for the ballon’dor though.i too would love him in our squad as bendtner isn’t fit to lace his boots.RVP has began to develop that killer instinct though injuries aren’t helping him but who is to say that if he had been fit he wouldn’t be our destroyer?

  78. W.A.T.H says:

Dunno about peanut head not being a liability Ave, most of the one on ones were due to him getting caught out of left 4 dead…!

  79. avenell says:

Yesterday though that Jones geezer was as slow as a slug and even Silvestre handled him.. He got caught for pace by Bent though..

All the so called Championship managers who know better than Arsene have stopped calling for the signature of Jones and Cana I see..

  80. W.A.T.H says:

Tell you what Ave if ppl are happy with a Cana or a Jones they supporting the wrong Club… I want a hell of a lot better than either of them 2…..!

  81. rico says:

Bloody laptop has finally decided to crash, the fan has gone!!

Is it just me or have all the widgets dropped down the page??

  82. K-TR7 says:

Rooney and RVP are both similar players, though shrek is more of a battering ram while rvp is more skilled with a brilliant first touch.they are both very intelligent players with off the ball movements being their greatest strength.they are talismen in their respective teams playing a false nine role dragging defences apart unlike drogba and torres who are number is a blessing to see them in the best league in the world and long may it continue.

  83. rico says:

WATH, I was all up for us going for Jones in January, I am pleased to say that I know longer have any desire to see him in an Arsenal shirt..
    Nor Bent!

  84. rico says:

Much as it pains me to say this, even I would forget the Manure connection to see Shrek playing for us – he is just the kind of player we need..

Without the granny’s on board of course 😉

  85. W.A.T.H says:

Are you going to comment on ur love in with Flapianski as well Rico or you going to chose to stay silent on that 1………. 🙂

  86. W.A.T.H says:

Steady on Rico you might be right up Shrek’s street if you play ur cards right…… 🙂

  87. rico says:

Oi oi, careful, I’m not that old, yet 😉

    Flapianski 😆 Poor fella…

  88. K-TR7 says:

Why don’t we buy an older gk to be first choice let coco be second choice and let our younger gks out on loan to help them gain experience?

  89. rico says:

KTR7, because we are too tight 😉

  90. stew says:

Hi guys, been reading for a long time but never posted. So here goes.

The goal scoring is not a problem really. Yes a really out and out centre forward would be nice but he has to fit into the system. You cannot simply buy a forward who scores loads for xx team based on that principle only. Yo would then need new full backs to bang in crosses etc or a midfield that ould feed the striker in a different manner than at present to make him effective. Arsenal have a very unique system of playing. The play 5 aside up the pitch in small contained areas, they move the ball totally different than most teams, then all teams in the premiership. So therefore you got a player that fits the system or you change the system which means changing players totally rather than adding.

Theo has hardly played and is clearly rusty. He may have been 4yrs at Arsenal but how many seasons has he been injury free??

The main problem is not scoring goals but conceeding stupid goals. Clichy has lost the plot and Sagna has dropped this year. If Gibbs was fit he would be choosen over Clichy. Eboue is a better option at the moment tha Sagne. CBs are very good but keeper is the dire area in need of solving.

90% of goals conceeding this year are from keepers errors, Clichy poor play or Denilson poor/lack of play. Simple. No team, apart from United at home, has outplayed Arsenal. Just the goals in a losing game have been gifts.

  91. W.A.T.H says:

We could always go get Bartez…………. 😀

  92. W.A.T.H says:

Well you could always show Shrek the delights of a younger woman Rico 🙂

  93. avenell says:

Hi Stew… good opening comment. Your posts will come straight on now..

  94. rico says:

    Hi stew, welcome aboard..

Excuse me Trig, and just how many years older than me are you??

😆 WATH, I think I will pass on that one..

  95. rico says:

ave, have your widgets dropped 😳

  96. rico says:

Im with you re Theo stew, he needs a long run of games before I am going to totally write him off, Vela is in a similar position, he has a groin injury and AW says he needs a time free of injury and a good run in the side…

  97. JonJon says:

    nice comment stew..

thats why i believe we need a new keeper and a player better than denilson who can fight it out with song for midfield probably move into back 4 at some point anyway…

dont agree on the goalscorer…we play with 3 strikers so they can all have separate roles..still have the link up man but a talisman who will hit you 25-30 goals a season to add to the rest would be appreciated…we would need to change our play.just keep doing what we doing…only with a bit more firepower…

  98. rico says:

I’m off to Curry’s shortly for a new laptop 😦

Anyone know what is a good one that is really quick??

  99. JonJon says:

it dont matter about giving theo a run..hes got no technique…

can give him as many games as you like he wont improve…if you havent learnt how to dribble or cross or pass by the time your 20 then somethings wrong

at 12million and 60k a week until hes 28 just to see if he makes it we might as well and gone out and bought ronaldo for 80mil…

    costs the same

  100. rico says:

JJ, he was doing it at Southampton, I don’t know what is wrong with him. Look at Clichy and Sagna too, last sason they could cross, this season they are shocking..

    Training regime I think…

  101. rico says:

Also, Theo isnt a winger, I dont know why he plays there, he needs to be throughthe middle and run onto the ball and shoot…

  102. W.A.T.H says:

I disagree with you a little Stew, we far to predictable going forward and the Chavs at home also took the “P” is of us, they got behind the balls and we were clueless, pretty five a side footie works when teams come out and try play decent footie but when they dont our forward can’t score as seen when it really matters against mancs n chavs same old story eye through the needle passes and trying to walk the ball into the net, no plab B no players apart from Arshavin who can turn a game on its head we far to predictable narrow…! just my opinion…

  103. W.A.T.H says:

Just dont get a cheap one Rico….. get one that is 800hz thats quick with a depcent processor

  104. rico says:

WATH, i dont think evev AA is capable of turning a game on its head.. he has been finding many a blind alley recently..

  105. K-TR7 says:

I tend to agree on our system is unique.we play with three forwards and have scored out and out goalscorer would be nice but they are very few with emergence of false nine role they soon will be history.stop discussing it since we won’t buy a number nine as football is progressing away from it.look no further than:RVP ibra shrek aguero pato amauri benzema…

  106. W.A.T.H says:

or a decent processor even 🙂

  107. avenell says:

    Widgets are still there rico..
I don’t know too much about laptops.. I think they all use the same components.
I normally buy Toshiba, I don’t know if they are any better than a Dell or something, but a brand name makes me fell better.

They should all fly nowadays.. The more you spend the faster they are.

  108. rico says:

Thanks WATH, I was thinking of an ACER 531, its only used for blogging and shopping 😉

  109. W.A.T.H says:

K-TR7…. thing is we don’t play with 3 forwards they are harly forwards more likewe play with 5 attacking midfielders and Song….! rather different than playing with 3 strikers….!

  110. avenell says:

A few overlap Striker/midfielder though.. Arsh, Dudu. RvP for Holland, Vela, cough Theo..

We score loads of goals, but we are not efficient we need all the midfield and half the defence to help out making us vulnerable to counter attack..

What we need is a midfield that can track back and cover the defence when they go up the pitch, like in total football.

That’s why we give stupid goals away to the likes of Man U.

  111. rico says:

Thanks ave, thats more than i know..

Off for a bit, catch you all in a while.. Mind you, I’m off in the Toyota so hope I return safely, good excuse though if I get caught speeding 😉

  112. JonJon says:

thats wat annoys me wath about the 433

    its more of a 460..

and we wonder why we look conjested

barca got it perfect….433 with 3 strikers who tear defences to bits…

5 attacking midfielders is easy to defend when your a big team

  113. W.A.T.H says:

Spot on JJ…………….. 5 attacking midfielders aint 3 strikers and purely by instict theirs isnt to be on the end of stuff in the box….! its why when it matters we cant break teams down.

  114. JonJon says:

and it leaves the defence fucked when they all bomb forward including the fb’s

fergie even said we easy to beat cos we pile too many players forward with no end product…

ancelotti told everyone how they were gonna beat us and they did the same…

  115. JonJon says:

    take sunderlnd for example

its perfect..we had about 300 chances and only scored 2 from a pen

but sunderland had two brilliant chances…better than any we had becuase of the way we play…

the sunderlands and the other little teams dont really offer much of a threat…hence sunderlands inability to score

but can you imagine rooney or drogba having the chances bent and jones had…???

they aint missing those chances..and thats why they beat us all the time

  116. W.A.T.H says:

Exactly JJ and thats why we also didnt score against chavs n mancs when it mattered cos we cant… we need 300 chances to score 2 yet when we get 5 chances and need a goal we got noone to produce…!.

  117. avenell says:

You have to consider our injuries though..

RvP most of the season, Eduardo half the season, Bendtner a third of the season AA carrying an injury..

Take the equivalent out of Man U and the Chavs and they would be behind us..

And it is easy to say we should just buy another striker, but anyone decent is a £40 million investment over 3 or 4 years and when you are running a club properly that isn’t to be sneezed at.

  118. W.A.T.H says:

But Ave we got 30 million spare from barndoor n Kolo that never got spent AND it’s not like anyone would ever of bet that RVP and Ed would go the season not injured is it…? It’s been the same 3yrs running and its crap….!

  119. avenell says:

Where did the money for AA and TV come from?

We also have upped the contracts for the players coming through plus RvP’s etc.. I don’t think it is as easy as we sold him for this so we have it all to spend..

As for the injuries, it’s not like they are the same ones over and over, we could buy anyone and they could pick up the same problem.

And Bendtner was injured in a car crash, RvP for his country, we then overplay the others like AA and they get no recovery time..

  120. W.A.T.H says:

Thing is tho Ave the injury thing is old hat its the same year after year what ever the reason we still keep getting them, Look at what money we have brought in last few years we have spent nothing close to it…..! to mnay players who have done nothing eaning far to much money as it they have made it alredy and they have far from made it….!

  121. avenell says:

Liverpool have gone into £250 million pound debt and only have one striker..

There are only two teams in a better position than us and they are or should be in mega debt.

They have done this without building a new stadium..

No other team could build a stadium and keep in the top 4 and do it without a sugar daddy.

  122. avenell says:

Burnley 1 Villa 0.. lol and Bolton lost..

I hope Coyle goes down and Burnley stay up..

  123. W.A.T.H says:

Your right about the debt mate I totally agree BUT we still have dosh to spend and AW aint done what he promised simple as that….! We can all see where we need players and its bullshit and excuses one after another and as said we dont need 6/7 players its 3 through the spine and we would be top top draw…! Why won’t/don’t he do it…? we moved to buy the best players we were told and all we do is buy kids and look for bargain basement cheapies….! Not acceptable mate…! We pay the most as fans to see Arsenal play we deserve better than to have the wool pulled over our eyes when it comes to finances and buying the players we need.

  124. W.A.T.H says:

    Afternoon RSD……

  125. avenell says:

    Hi RSD..

WATH.. we do pay the most in season tickets etc.. but we are based in the most expensive city in England so the supporters wages are higher too..

Paying £30 quid to a scouser is like a Gooner having to pay £500 admission.

The policing probably costs more as do the wages of other workers.
The rates will be higher too.

Man City and Chelsea don’t even own there own ground.

I agree there are a few problems with the Arsenal way but generally I think we do pretty good.

  126. afternoon wath
you reckon we aint spending cos we woods is tight
i reckon we cant afford the wage bill anymore
so thats why go for the “everything for a £1” players
hopefully we’ll get joe cole in summer for a £1 out of contract.

    you about trigg

  127. avenell says:

I might also add, that I don’t like the modern day fan that reads all about Arsenal in the Times and thinks waving a £2 quid red and white scarf makes for a great atmosphere, but that is the way football has gone.
    Sold it’s soul.. 😦

  128. Erick says:

    Hallo guyz

  129. the times is a wapping papper mate it just the sun without tits and long words.
As for the ashburtons crowd is really poor
    we need a family section
so real fans can stand up a shout foul abuse
away days are were the real gooners are got much more “flare”;-)

  130. W.A.T.H says:

You and I both agree on that Ave but we know that re the jcl’s…. I just dont see why as fans that we pay highest tkt prices in europe and get stitched up and its not cos it’s London, Other teams pay higher wages than us and we were told we had to move to compete and yet we ain’t so who’s telling lies…? The stadium debt is not related to football we’re told so why seeing as the board gloats at recond turnover and income do we not plough the money… The fans money back into playing staff…? its crap mate and not on….! Wenger has done the hard work and brought through a lot of goon young players they need to be supplememnted by a couple of class players bought in if he dont the whole youth project will go belly up and fail dismally. He needs to take the blinkers off and buy the remaining bits of the jigsaw….! thats all it is…!

  131. avenell says:

The finances are a difficult one.. We turn over £300 mill, but we make about £35 mill a year.. that’s IF we stay in the top 4..

But we have to budget for the worse case scenario if we finsh 5th Arsenal cannot collapse so we cannot spend everything, too many clubs have gone down that route.

£35 million could be eaten up on one player, who could or might not make a difference.

I think it is too short term to say it isn’t working especially to pull the plug on Wenger.

  132. avenell says:

Villa 3-1 up bollox… as long as they stay above the Spuds.. 😉

  133. Erick says:

Evening RSD 🙂 so you think the Emirates is not playing as the 12th man i agree may be the off and on performance have something to do with it

  134. W.A.T.H says:

U got more patience than me mate……….. They have made fortunes on player transfers etc the last few yrs and even finishing th aint a problem its if gates go under the 40k mark we in bother, dont you think execs paying huge dosh in the boxes want to see success to justify spending massive amounts on boxes… who will rened to watch a team thats wins naff all…? vicious circle but the fans still getting shafted on false promises and one or two player is all thats needed to make us a great side, speculate to accumulate and I dont mean breakng the bank of getting into 100mill of debt thats not necessary and not what I am saying BUT we def need to spend what we make and also stop giving 3rd rate 17/8/19 yr olds 40k a week 5 yr contracts when they have proved nothing, they set for life no ambition no hunger and they have proved and done what…? pathetic really…!

  135. avenell says:

WATH.. we probably agree more than we are showing.. It is a fine line keeping the JCL’s happy and balancing the books.

The high prices are attracting the wrong type of supporter to football, all over the country, but we seem to get the worst ones.
    It’s a football match not a theatre.

  136. to right ave
most fan at the grove think we should sit down and clap and if you stand up and say something you some kind of “yob”
would like to see these people at an away match

  137. Erick says:

Ave Villa are literaly running with it i felt yesterday we could have matched their score we had huge possesion

  138. avenell says:

Trouble is RSD.. we need there money now..

All the old fans who would turn up and stand in the rain etc have been driven out.
I have only been to the Emirates a couple of times and I wouldn’t rush to go back.
One of the reasons I moved away is the way I liked to support Arsenal has gone.
Watching the game was just a part of a match day.. Years ago you were a part of it.

  139. avenell says:

It would have been nice Erick, but we don’t have the desire to thrash smaller teams.

  140. W.A.T.H says:

Thing is Ave if you stand up show any emotion you got the nazi brigade trying to throw you out and take your membership or ST away as well, sterile atmosphere is exactly what the club want obviously…? its crap and yes we know the problems the real fans don’t even go anymore the pubs around the ground is where they are with like minded mates and fans….! All the jcl’s aint got a clue… what to next when the footie bubble bursts…?

  141. Erick says:

We need a hostile reception for the away team but the boys need to take advantage of it

  142. avenell says:

In a way WATH.. I would like to see us get relegated and get rid of the shit support.

But another load would just replace them when we came back up and started winning again.

  143. avenell says:

Well perhaps not relegated.. a few seasons in the bottom half.. 😉

  144. but the foods good(plenty of prawns) and you have a choice of merlot or chardonny now.

wath the reason there on such high contract these kids is the agents get hold of them and tell them of pensioner youth are on this much you could get more over there
Also the webster bollocks has come in so we have to sign them for decades at a time other wise 2 years near the end of their contract they can go for just compensation

    lawyers are fucking us all
and insurance killing the honesty in people and losing the ability to talk to people.

more over the do really think a football is just gona want to sit on the bench and earn a wage
come on thats the last thing they want
they want tropies whats fucking money
if you do nothing to earn it
at the end of the day footballers is all about show us your medals

  145. did you see a night at the grove by the way just looks so civilised compared to away at chels

  146. W.A.T.H says:

It makes you wonder what would happen if we were indeed crap and finished 6/7tha few seasons on the trot… Would it change the mentality of the board and club though, you cant have a hostile reception for away teams if your not allowed to get emotionally involved and if jumping up and swearing and getting carried away isnt allwoed by stewards adn club then the atmosphere is gonna be rubbish and sterile !!. As long as the comments and chants aint nasty or vindictive the atmosphere should be as nasty and hostile as possible any away team should be made to feel very very unwelcome !!

  147. wath this is it why cant we have family section like at the vicarage

  148. W.A.T.H says:

Prob is RSD ppl with flares get 3yr bans….. and fined…! The grove is a diluted load of rubbish for tarquin and jemima…..! Til they get bored….

Young players should get better deals based on an increase each yr of the contract and game sin the first team and bonuses when u win, what ever happened to a win bonus to make the players actually give a shit…? to much money to sit on their arses do nothing and drive a big red new ferrari at 19yrs of age….!.

  149. W.A.T.H says:

There is a family section RSD….. its next to the away fans think you will find…. red action aint my cup of tea but why have the club put em the other end of the ground….? they should be either side of teh away fans to drown out the away support…!

  150. apparently he was french so he didnt care

  151. Erick says:

RSD i totaly agree with you no point in saying you are footballer and you got no silverware to show for it Some Manure fans joke that we never built trophy cabinets when we moved from Highbury to the Emirate thats why we have not won trophies

  152. avenell says:

    tarquin and jemima lol..

  153. avenell says:

They wern’t laughing when they had to pay the transfer fee of Ronaldo last month to re finance the Glazier debt..
I think ManU fans are getting very worried.

  154. think jet used to drive a mclaren but he’s banned now
    i didn’t know that wath
i havent been for a long time still had new smell and lots of concrete everywhere

  155. W.A.T.H says:

No RSD he was def English and def Arsenal and def cared……! Do medals count when u have a garage full of ferraris and porshe’s and bentleys and earn 150k a week…? I think trophies have also been replaces a lot by the greed factor…!

  156. there loads of balls talked about
    like spurs fans built it
and since we change the gun round on the crest

  157. W.A.T.H says:

Tell you what Ave think we should invite tarquin n jemima down the boozer n show em what footie n real fans are all about….. guaranteed they wont go again lol………. 🙂

  158. avenell says:

I don’t think you can build a team of idealistic footballers.. there isn’t enough about..

Money buys the best players, players who want to win things join them so money and success goes hand in hand.. sadly.

  159. wath which player in the youth isn’t giving 100% when he comes on the pitch?

  160. JonJon says:

    i hate the emirates…
    much prefer the away games…
dont want to sit there and clap politley ooohhh-ing and ahhhh-ing…missing half the match cos of the 25 stone meat head sat in front of you..

away games are better….more hostile, lots of jumping and shouting f-ing and blinding, starting with the home fans…the way football used to be…should be…

thing is wengers a genious for what hes other manager could have done what hes done..weve got alot to be grateful for…but at the same time there has to be a balance…

there will come a time when ppl will stop wanting to go to the emirates to watch players like denilson and theo…

60 thousand ppl aint guna keep forking out to watch a nearly team…if they wanna keep the ‘new’ fans and fill the stadium season after season then they need to bring the silverware…trophies breed support…

i wouldnt change my support for nobody and id follow the arsenal into the coca colo leagues if i had to…probably be cheaper so id probably go more.. 😉

but we need to find the right balance…at the minute it seems all about finances and although thats admirable we are a football club first and foremost..on the pitch is where it happens and at the minute it aint happening…

but i still think we’ll win the PL so we’ll have this chat again in may.. 😉

  161. alright jj
    change your tune from thurs
were’s all the doom and gloom

  162. JonJon says:

    im borderline mate…

i praise the team when its due and i kick off when they shit…

    u’ll get used to me..

i aint no doomer..but i aint up wengers arse either…

i support arsenal not arsene…dont really give a toss about injuries or the media or any other excuse..only care what happens on the pitch…

i love wenger..but at the same time i think hes full of shit..

  163. forgot to add the lol
    im only jibbing yer

  164. JonJon says:

especially when it comes to transfers..

‘i’m buying a superstar- heres a freebie instead..’

‘i’m buying reinforcenments, i aint buying anyone’

‘we dont need the cc or the fa cup, this teams ready now for the big glory- but be patient, we are still learning’

    😉 😉

    gotta love him though..

  165. you got to think he’s just playing the media

  166. W.A.T.H says:

RSD….. you think Theo looks hungry on his new 60K a week, which player in the youth or reserves really loks hungry they are all far to pampered to know whats its really like to fight to get into the Arsenal first team, everything is done for them handed to em on a plate its why they a bunch of cries babies…! It’s all far to easy rich little spoilt prima donna’s simple as that…!

  167. avenell says:

Sometimes Arsene may say something that he means at the time or even tongue in cheek and some blogs treat that as gospel for years.
It’s like this thing about long range shooting.. someone saw a training session where we didn’t shoot. It doesn’t mean we do that in all training sessions or Wenger has banned shooting.

  168. i think his best is what he said about the freekick on wed
does he have no memory at all
    henry v villa and pensioners

  169. W.A.T.H says:

JJ stop being such a pessamistic c**t 🙂

  170. avenell says:

Do you remember the stick we got about that free kick, the ref should have moved away etc..

The difference was the ref took the ball and placed it for Porto then stood in the way of our nearest defender.

Also a back pass has to be 100% definate not a stumble on the ball like Sol did.. Wenger won’t ever win that one though.. I think is anger came out during the match more because the lack of our penalty then he gave the ref some grief, then he has been backing it up since.

I am glad it happened when it did and not in a final.

  171. torres comes on
    theo is getting better
and jet looked hungry on mon
    nacer also
i think if you dont actually watch wenger in the press conferences then you what hes say is taken and turn on it head
some of what he say is all with a rye smile

  172. what do you guy make of the sell clichy story in notw today

    we’ve got Gibbs anyway

  173. avenell says:

I would have been gutted a couple of years ago.. I would like to think Clichy would want to go and we are not pushing him out.. loyalty needs to be shown both ways.

  174. barndoor just shows why we sold him

  175. is nice to have some much talent on the left with tom cruise moving up the conveyor belt could be time

  176. avenell says:

Nelson, Sansom, Winterburn, Cashly, Clichy, Gibbs…. We have always been blessed in that department..

  177. now there’s a left back

  178. he could have played todays league

  179. avenell says:

Spuds 1 up from a goal 2 yards offside from a player who should have been sent off for a two footed tackle and raising his arms.. why? why?

  180. really i cant find a sopcast channel so cant really be bother to watch

  181. they go fourth dont they

  182. stew says:

    cheers guys.

another dimesion of play would be good, I agree. In that aspect you would need a different type of player(s). Say 3 or 4 players who are more direct for example. This players then play against the appropriate teams where this is required. So therefore you keep the same cbs in general, same keeper, same backbone and add full backs, strikers and a midfilder to do that.

The other aspect to consider is that Arsenal have not played the same squad in any 2 games all season = injuries. If you really look at the amount of injuries over the first 6 months to present it is quite amazing. However that is something now that has been happening to the same players over the last few years.

The squad needs some beefing up and to deal with the likes of Stoke away. A real powerhouse of a midfielder that looks after the team and takes care of the kickers in oppositions teams. All Arsenal players are highly skilled, fast, can play a number of positions but they are fragile. Song is about the only solid player Arsenal have. However the hardman also needs to fit into Arsenals system and requirements of play. Otherwise that type of player would be just as destructive to the team as it could be benificial.

I have been a fan since I was 5 and took in many matches, my first with Rocastle scoring the winner in a 2-1 over Chelsea. I am a seaon ticket holding now.

This era with Wenger is the most impressive for me and it is amazing that the club has moved stadium, stayed financially above water, got a superb youth system in place and are there or there abouts every season.

If the match vs Porto will be a 1-1 or 0-0 and that could be the death of this team. To go out against Porto would be a disaster and with the feeling I have that Man Utd and Chelsea will go out vs the Milans I thin that this is Arsenals best chance of another final.

If Arsenal progress against Porto then I feel this team will be winning the premier league. Chelsea have to play Man Utd, Chelsea have to play Man City. A draw of losses in these 2 matches and Arsenal are there at the top. It can change immediately.

  183. hi stew
    hold on there’s alot there

  184. i would say we do need a midfield enforcer
jeremy toulalan from lyon would do me
i can say that while ladygooner aint about
but i would say diaby is looking like that sort of player your talking about
can play box to box not afraid to put a tackle in and can get up front and score goals
if we go out at porto would be disappointing
but cos they travel as good as there wine
would have thought we could go through even if we nick it 1-0
cant see utd going out by the way
the pensioners against inter will be interesting thats this week init

  185. sorry for alot of say

  186. rico says:

  197. avenell says:

I quite like it.. makes me realise how good we are..

The pitch was a joke today, it’s hard to tell if they are any good. King got a thigh strain.

  201. avenell says:

Shame about King.. he would have been good for us on a free..

  202. ihope you taking the piss trigg

  203. W.A.T.H says:

Tell you what Ave you and ur free transfers I am starting to worry about you……!!

  204. avenell says:

We like the Spud centre halfs.. Young, Campbell. they all went on to greater things.

  205. avenell says:

Chamakkh will be free. AA nearly was..

    Blame it on the Bosman..

  206. W.A.T.H says:

Oh pls I don’t want that chmuck geezer………….. AA woz 15million………….. hardly free…! Do you write AW’s interviews…??? Just wondering 🙂

  207. avenell says:

I don’t know jack about Chamakkh..

AA was still a cheapy, the marshers were going to pay £25mill in the previous summer.

I have belief and mental strength.. 😉

  208. avenell says:

When I said nearly, I meant 6 months away not the price..

  209. W.A.T.H says:

Ask Rico abt chmuck she seems to love him already but then again 2 months ago she said flapianski was the best thing since sliced bread….. ooops…! 🙂

  210. avenell says:

She don’t rate Bendtner.. that’s taking some convincing that one

Loads of people rated Flapper. but he never seemed under control to me, hasty decisions and dodgy distribution. good shot stopper though.

Arsene needs to rebuild him, make him better than he was, etc.

  211. the flab is only 21 come on you cant rate him one 2 errors. other than that he was mustard on wed those huge hand must have been covered in tar some of the crosses he caught

  212. W.A.T.H says:

RSD if you reckon flappy has only mate 2 mistakes think back to last year as well, He fills me with as much comfidence as the spanish waiter…! as I have said tons of times b4 you wouldn’t make one decent goalie out of our first three keepers they all a liability…! The best one is on loan at Brentford….!

  213. true but the could the pole in goal do an iker.
with a run in team those mistake will go once he learns to speak sol’s language. YMCA

  214. rico only chamkakakaka
    cos he’s over 6ft

  215. W.A.T.H says:

Flappy isn’t composed at all never has been, thats either in ur make up or its not, good shot stopper but panics flaps and really doesnt look like he can handle it in my opinion. Another one who seems to give the whole backline the jitters……

  216. fair enough wath
where do you stand on johan by the way he’s due back next month in’he
with gallas prob of the tv jd partnership
really need some centre halves come the summer

  217. avenell says:

I am unsure how good Almunia is.. When I watch Cech he doesn’t look that great and Given the other night against Stoke was usless.

I quite like that French keeper that played against Ireland.

  218. W.A.T.H says:

Almunia isnt the answer either Ave he’s a 2nd at best…. Just look at our defenders with any of the keepers noone of them trust em. Cech since the boot in the head hasnt been the same but still miles better than what we got as 4 Given the bloke allowed one mistake a season ours seem to make one a game…!

I think JD has all the attributes to make a great centre half RSD but does he have the mentality…? he’s quick strong and a right lump….! He still learning so hopefully he’ll do a lot better than senderos…! Still need another quality centre half though cos peanut head aint the answer is he…!

  219. avenell says:

We will be okay if we keep Gallas another year, give JD a bit of time to prove himself.

Given made 2 cock ups in that game, sometimes we are hard on Almunia because we watch him week in week out.. When I look back at old Aersenal vids Seaman wasn’t perfect..

  220. no but some saves he made just will stay in you memory for ever
that one on the fa cup
    stevenage weren’t it

  221. wath
the titanic was built for this league mate should have stayed in italy more time to turn

  222. avenell says:

Did we play Stevenage? only in friendlies I cannot think when we had a non league club…

I remember Newcastle playing them, equaliser by Shearer.

  223. it wasn’t stevenage that save but the blades
but im so sure we played stevenage cos was temping up there at the time

  224. rico says:

I can’t go away for five minutes without you buggers being cheeky 😉

I have about ten minutes before the fan blows hot, it must be a male laptop 😉

  225. avenell says:

We play stevenage in friendlies sometimes, we fill the toys’r’us car park.. 😉

  226. avenell says:

Perhaps they would like to sponsor us.

  227. fuck maybe your right too many caucasian tonight

  228. lol as for new laptop get one with quad processor
and shit loads of RAM and ask them to throw in a external hard drive any other stuff they say is just balls

  237. rico r u using the laptop in the garden then to keep it cool?

  238. rico says:

Hi RSD, Im in the freezer 😉

  239. JonJon says:

i have a porsche..its a wonderful talented porsche with lots of drives so smoothly and looks elegant but it will not win a race at the minute because one of the tyres has a puncture..the punchure puts extra pressure on my other tyres to perform and a couple of my key tyres are beginning to voice concern…my friends, family and love ones want me to fix the punchure in order to achieve supremacy but i refuse to fix the punchure….it is a young tyre and it will learn…i believe in my tyre and it will fix itself with experience and encouragement…i cant just go out and buy any tyre…tyres are hard to find and i will not bankrupt my wallet…. 😉

  240. here sitting out side is colder than the frezzer it -16C tonight and i have to take the dog out. in a half ‘our

  241. avenell says:

  243. rico says:

  244. JonJon says:

gallas cant leave..hes got another year left in him at the top level…probably 2…

if we can re sign big sol at 35 we can offer gallas two years..if he leaves because hes only offered one i’ll be pissed off with that stupid unwritten rule wengers got…

we lose too many key players to that daft rule..pires anyone??… and if we can give silvestre 2 years at 31 we can bloody well give gallas the same..

  245. rico says:

JJ – you need Kwik fit for your car and we need Quick Fix or our club 😉

  246. rico says:

JJ, I think Gallas is being offered a two year deal

  247. we’ve got loads of money to spend just not on wages so if you want to come and learn to play wengerball.
you can have a sign on fee but then work for tuppence.
maybe we should put this in the paper

  248. W.A.T.H says:

Cant see Gallas not being offered 2 yrs JJ…. he’s been mega this season…!

  249. rico says:

WATH, Its good you came back to AR, I missed your naughtiness, I thought JJ was bad, but you!!! 😉

  275. avenell says:

Glenn Helder made a comeback a few years ago if I remember rightly..

Do you remember Petrovic in the early eighties?
He never fitted in to our route one style.

  276. W.A.T.H says:

Petrovic was the nuts, he was far to good for us, 🙂 he had a footballing brain…..! They will never solve that croat killing…!

  277. avenell says:

Was you there that night Red Star thrashed us after we drew with them or sneaked a goal advantage away?
We lost something like 5-1 but they gave us a football lesson and the crowd applauded them off.

  278. W.A.T.H says:

That was moscow spartak… we only lost 3-2 there and they thumped us 5-2 at home played us off the park…!
I remember their pre match warm up a little 5 a side in the penalty area and they kicked shit out of each other whilst our lot were running about and stretching this lot were nearly killing each other… They were brilliant that night
