Gallas ‘escapes’, Arsene’s sad, Diaby and Sagna miss Stoke…..

What absolute poppy cock! How can people say he ‘escaped’? We all know the Football Association would have thrown the book at Gallas if they could don’t we? Reality is they had nothing to throw the book at him about, that isn’t escaping, that is just reality. There were no grounds for the FA to act retrospectively and ‘Old Wiley’ got it right! Well, some of it 😉

After listening to comments from a Bolton player saying the tackle was disgusting, and Coyle suggesting that the Willy’s tackle was more of an assault than anything else, I say, get real Bolton, that tackle was nothing compared to what our boys have been on the receiving end of for many seasons now, and especially from you!

The only difference is that our players end up being out of the game for weeks, your lad Davies will probably be back at the weekend!

As for the goal that followed, tough! Rules are rules, it happened to us a couple of games ago when Denilson was down, did you hear our boss whinging? No, he just said those are the rules and suggested that someone commit a handball, that’s how to stop the game, not by getting a sympathy vote!

Bolton, you think you are hard nuts, but you just bad losers who can’t take what you dish out week in, week out!!

Talking of ‘proper injuries’, what sad news about Kieran Gibbs, just as he had his chance, proved himself to be a top left back, possibly better than Clichy is playing right now and the lad needs an operation which will keep him out for the rest of the season!

“That is sad news because I rate him highly,” Wenger told TV Online. “I had hoped that the first surgery would be successful.

Dreadful and just so typical of the way our luck has gone this season with injuries.

Some good news, Giles Sunu a big lump of a centre forward with a nose for goal is in talks about a new contract, his expires in the summer and let’s hope he decides to stay.

Cescy boy has spoken to his fellow Spanish midfielder who I have promised not to mention, he says“I have spoken to him about his future, because he will be out of contract soon. I didn’t persuade him to sign or not sign, I just told him my feelings, but of course whatever he decides will be down to him. That’s for him to say.”

Not much other gossip around other than Diaby is out for the Stoke game at the weekend, and the away match at Aston Villa. Bacary Sagna will also be out for the weekend.

I wonder who will play at right back. Do I now admit I miss Eboue 😉

Will Big Sol make his debut? Will it be the oldest defensive pairing in the FA Cup on show?

If they do, will they make history?

Who knows, but surely Gallas and Vermaelen need a break? We have Aston Villa just a few days later…

Me, I say always play the strongest and win the game, winning breeds winning and can you see either Gallas or Vermaelan asking to be rested – No, neither can I.

Stoke will be a very tough nut to crack, and we need to win!

But take yourselves back to Avenell’s post about sacrificing the FA Cup – does it make you think differently now we are sat top of the league?

Not me, I want to win it!

Have a good day all, isn’t Friday a signing day 😉

  2. Irishgunner says:

    Morning Rico.

Listen to what that lump Robinson had to say:

“It was a joke decision,” Robinson told the Bolton News. “And it happened right in front of him. We are very upset with the referee – who has got to hold his hands up and publicly say he was wrong.

“We’ll be taking our frustrations out on anyone that comes in front of us now.”

The second comment is telling, so they are going to foul other players on purpose now?

What an awful excuse for a club Bolton, their players and fans are and now sadly they have turned Owen Coyle in a muppet in the space of a week.

  3. rico says:

Morning Irish – maybe the FA should act on what he has said,

“We’ll be taking our frustrations out on anyone that comes in front of us now.”

Bit of intent going on there – at least we don’t have to play them again, unless they are still in the FA Cup!

  4. Irishgunner says:

    Its hilarious isn’t it Rico.

For seasons now they have being laughing at “soft Arsenal” this season we give them a dose of their own medicine and they are crying like babies.

Okay, Gallas’ tackle was bad but I don’t think he intended to hurt Davies and Bolton are the last team that should be whinging about fouls.

Wenger at least apologised if their player was hurt, where is our apology for their attempts to injury Fabregas?

  5. rico says:

Spot on, just the all the pundits who said we can’t travel up North on a wet windy night!! At least old Platt said he got us wrong..

It was a bad challenge, but just late rather than malicious. But like you say, how many times, especially under Fat Sam did Bolton try and kick us off the park..

I am glad we have hardened up, and its great to see Tomas get stuck in and come out unscathed..

  6. rico says:

Actually, I blame Davies, he shouldn’t have nudged the ball away at the last minute, then Gallas wouldn’t have caught his ankle 😉

  7. Irishgunner says:

    Ha ha

No-one wants to see a player get injured but the things people have been coming out with is nothing short of hilarious.

Graham Poll has likened it to to Gerrard’s challenge on Naysmith in the Merseyside Derby. I’m sorry but did Gallas lunge from a foot in the air with his two feet into Davies?

It was late and if he got booked we wouldn’t have complained but there was no intent.

Wenger doesn’t send his players out with the orders to injury and kick the opposition, Bolton have done since Allardyce’s days. Now though that we are kicking back they don’t like it.

  8. rico says:

Gallas doesn’t play that way either does he, he is not even a ‘tough tackler’ really, unlike some of the Terry, Gerrard, Rooney, Cole…. I could go on…

  9. Irishgunner says:

Yeah I’m sure Gallas has made some dodgy tackles in his time but he wouldn’t be known for it.

  10. rico says:

How is life down under Irish – all you thought, or better?

  11. Davi says:

I think this piece really sums up the incident well:

I’ve always liked andy townsend, he just says what he thinks, without bias or agenda.

  14. kelsey says:

    Morning rico and all.

I like you rico love the tradition of the F.A>Cup (maybe it’s an age thing) but I really can’t see it being beneficial for us to put out what is left of our first team against Stoke.

I don’t even think it is a question of us not strengthening the side,it’s just that we have an ever growing number of injuries, and quite frankly the new found determination and team spirit and never say die attitude has brought us to the top of the league.

We all know the forthcoming fixture list is awesome, but when we seem to lose another player every other match, what does the manager do.

By all means start Walcott and Vela and let’s see if they can really make an impact.Maybe Silvestre will be at right back, but I will not be too disappointed if we lose,if it helps our league campaign.

P.S.I don’t mean to drift in and out of here lately, but I have many things going on at the moment and the occasional contribution is to show I am still part of this blog, but now I have the dreaded flu virus as well, and feel like shite.

  15. SharkeySure says:

Fair play to Andy Townsend…hs comments are pretty fair.

    Morning all

  16. rico says:

    Morning again,

Tough one isn’t it kelsey, I want us to get the FA Cup and the league 🙂

  17. K-TR7 says:

Do you guys think JET can play diaby role alongside eastmond(dm).i think coquelin will play rb

  18. Unbelievable that the Bolton players are still bleating about the tackle.

Davies beat Gallas to the ball by a fraction of a second. Both men were fully committed to winning the ball.

If Gallas had have got there first, he would have been hurt more severly as Davies made more of a lunge.

Imagine the furore if Gallas had not have gone in hard to win the ball? We’d have been back to the soft Arsenal stories again.

We seriously can’t win with the press can we?

  19. kelsey says:

Owen Coyle has to justify himself as new manager, having conceded 6 goals against us in 4 days,he diverts the real issue that Bolton are crap.

  20. I think there is an element of that too Kelsey. What will be worrying him that contrary to their hard men image they actually got outbattled as well as outplayed.

  21. gazzap says:

    team for sunday anyone?

    Fabianski
    Coq? Sol Silv Traore
    Eastmond JET Frimpong??
    Theo Vela Watt??

dont know, its a very hard one to call. Coquelin could play in midfield with Eastmond and wenger could find a right back from somewhere of use a left back like Cruise, at right back or even Bartley.
right wing is a tricky one as well.

We simply have too many injuries to field a first team. I think theo and Vela will find it very hard against Stoke’s bruisers.

  22. rico says:

Hey gazzap – would Silly and Sol become the oldest two CH’s to play in the FA Cup?

  23. gazzap says:

    Maybe he could go 4-4-2?
Use silvestre at left back, use Traore left wing. Theo right wing, JET just behind Vela. Eastmond and either Frimpong or Coquelin in the middle. This would be a weak area in terms of creativity.
I think the boys have found playing the 4-3-3 harder than the first team. 4-4-2 just gives us a better defensive platform I think.

  24. gazzap says:

Rico, could be, there cant be many older pairings, certainly at this level. I think we are going to have a lot of high balls to defend and in some ways Sol and silv may be well suited to that.

  25. Arse&Nose says:

Gallas is not a dirty player, you will struggle to find more than 5 bad tackles he has made in his entire career!
The media are jumping onhis back because he is french and an easy target. Do we think Rooney would have been slaughtered for the same challenge?

Sky sports news are the biggest culprits as always, by constantly talking about the challenge. Funny how they stopped showing gary nevilles spit at the man city players. How can you have an unbiased media when murdoch owns most of it and is a man utd fan and shareholder!?

  26. rico says:

😛 gazzap, Sol has them alright 😉

  27. Arse&Nose says:

Looks like Rio Ferdinand will be back for our match against manure. I was looking forward to us having a go at their makeshift defence 😦

  28. rico says:

    Welcome to Avenell Road A&N,

Sorry you were held in moderation – you are free to blog now

  29. Arse&Nose says:

    Cheers rico, nice site !:)

  30. rico says:

Thanks A&N, sadly its not mine, I just write every now and again….

  31. rico says:

Re Gallas A&N, French and an Arsenal player – the pundits hate both 😦

  32. rico says:

Got to pop out – see you after lunch..

  33. K-TR7 says:

Ive been to several blogs now and you can’t believe how arrogant the manure fans are;they claim we are cheats,FAB4 would only become world class at the theatre of debt and berbatoy is better than tevez despite him scoring against them.i for one am glad;it confirms they consider us as a threat.i would love us to stuff them at the grove.FAB4’s penalty claim against northern softies was quite similar to shrek’s earlier at ot and the commentator said’english grit and determination’ while fab a cheat;uve got to applaud the double standards by the media.i think the boys will surprise us at stoke.AA23 loves big games and am backing him to score/assist in all big games coming up.TR7 will be vital so stay fit tomas, expect cesc to be business as usual

  34. gazzap says:

Good news about UEFA saying from 2012, clubs can only spend what they earn.

Its about time UEFA got to grips with the spiralling debt in our game. It is not a healthy situation for those clubs to be in. Chelsea and City are just one example, but most other clubs are going beyond their means to stay in the premier league and it is not good for our game. Teams that manage their money well should be rewarded – while teams that want a sugar daddy to buy their way to the top should not be.

  35. avenell says:

Morning Roadsters, cheers for the post rico.. 🙂

That will be a laugh gazzap, watching Real Madrid squirm around those laws (which they probably will)..

Man City will be a laugh too £68 million turnover and a £100 million pound wage bill.. lol.. Wrong time to buy a club.

Why can’t the sugar daddies just sponsor the shirts for £200 mill a year to get around it?

  36. Irishgunner says:

It’ll never happen because Mancs I&II, Madrid etc will separate from UEFA and form a Super League.

In a perfect world teams should be made live within their means, its just silly all the debt floating around football.

  37. avenell says:

The FA are going to have to keep Portsmouth propped up until the end of the season or the Premiership will turn into a joke league..

What else can the do? Pools panel or just give 3 points to all the future opponents.

  38. Irishgunner says:

If Pompey were to go I’m sure all their results would be made null and void which wouldn’t suit us at all.

  39. avenell says:

It all makes me even more amazed at what Mr Wenger OBE has acheived.. New ground in a recession, kept in the top 4/Champions League, good football, great crop of youngsters and money to buy if we have to..

Yet some still want him out hahaha..

  40. SharkeySure says:

“Yet some still want him out hahaha..”

    Its mad ain’t it !!!

Better still are those who talk as if they could do a beter job themselves. You couldn’t make it up….

    Complete Loons !!!

  41. SharkeySure says:

    Alright Irish,

I’m not convinced that Pompey would be allowed to drop out of the League. Surely the PL would loan them sufficient funds to see out the season.

I think it was Weymouth who were in a similar boat before, and ended up playing youth players and almost anyone who turned up with his own boots.

I’m actually surprised that there isn’t more media commentary on the Pompey worst case scenario.

Younes Kaboul looks like their only saleable asset right now.

  42. gazzap says:

I am not sure about this mega rich men giving massive money to say sponsor the shirt or buy an executive box. Surely there has to be some legal standards that stop that sort of thing in the accounting world.
Otherwise would businesses be able to make up false accounts and fill holes by saying we sold that paper clip for £200m or whatever. I am sure the authorities would be very much aware of it and would not allow it.

despite this, I expect these clubs will try every trick in the book to get round the rules.

As for a few clubs that are not happy breaking away to form a league. Not sure it could work. do they really want to be in a european league where there is no promotion or relegation – only teams that cannot meet spending rules!!

If that happened I would say OK Man U, Man city, chelsea and Madrid go and enjoy your little league, I wont be watching it, and we can forget about them. that would be nice.

Basically if a european league was to happen it would need backing from a huge number of clubs and I think UEFA/FIFA too.

  43. gazzap says:

I think a lot of prem league chairman will be happy about the rules. whilst most of them are over spending right now, they dont want to be. They HAVE to to stay in the league because everyone else is. the stakes are too high not be to competing with the big boys at the top table.
This way, they know that everyone has to reduce spending and they will still be able to remain in the league.

  44. avenell says:

Some well run clubs like the French and some of the German teams, us etc, may not want to go up against the falsely funded clubs.
Even the big clubs would need someone to play against.

And it will kill the lower leagues, so football would be more elitist, in the end there may be no players coming through just from the bigger clubs acadamy’s..

It would be a interesting split, but it will kill football off as we know it..

Even Chelsea are starting to get in line with Abramovich writing Chelsea’s debt off.

So that would only leave Citeh and Real Madrid who may not want it to happen.

  45. SharkeySure says:

Gazzap. I would think that would be covered by Transfer Pricing regulations* around taxation and the ‘movement of profits’ from one place to another.

*ie. There would be a clear connection/relationship between the ‘sponsor’ and the club, so it would look like they were moving profits between connected entities.

Taxman would have a field day.

  46. gazzap says:

You only have to look at what happened in the banking world when it was unregulated. it turns into the wild west – completely out of control. these limits should have been in place 20 years ago. If it carries on the whole footballing world could come crashing down.
I dont want to see good clubs like Pompey disappear. Keeping the game healthy is what is important, not protecting those lucky enough to have a sugar daddy to fund them.

  47. avenell says:

Before Abramovich came along all the wages and borrowing was pretty much dying down. Leeds were the main culprits, I thought that would be a lesson learned.

Then since abramovich and Man U started the buying wars it has been a free for all..

There is only really 2 1/2 trophies and every club cannot win them..

  48. avenell says:

All this crying out for a stiker buisness is a laugh too.. We have a £15 million Eduardo and Bendtner who must be £10 million plus coming back in a week.

We run a 4-3-3 how many strikers do we need?

It’s not like Man U are snapping up centrs halves or Chelsea are buying Defensive midfielders, Liverpool playmakers, etc, etc..

Things are tight out there.. 20% of the population are seeking jobs..

  49. gazzap says:

completely agree. by wednesday, 5 out of our 6 strikers will be fit – only van persie missing.
we dont actually need a striker.

I have always thought we probably need a better DM than Denilson to back Song up. I have thought that since the summer and I still do.
I dont rate Den, and he doesn’t perform well in the big games. we have Eastmond and Coquelin coming through but its precisely that kind of waiting for young talent to come through that has cost us trophies for 4 or 5 years now.
we should buy, then if eastmond becomes that good, he would replace the new man and we can sell the new man.
I would never advocate spending £15m+ on a player, but wenger can get appropriate players in that kind of positon for udner £10m – Matuidi would be a good example and there are others.

  50. dear oh dear, piles palmers latest gutter press post, intended to shock and bring more attention to his crap books, really does scrap the barrell.

joke of a human.. but i suppose in these tough economic times…

  51. btw lads, i am lined up for the last friday in feb to discuss my blog and all things arsenal on the fans forum on ATVO.

they may be setting me up as it follows our crucial next 6 or 7 season defining games.

  52. avenell says:

Sadly I am with you on Denilson Gazzap, I hate running players down . I also think Theo is a waste of money and time..

  53. avenell says:

How did you blag that SH?

There are over a 1000 Arsenal blogs.

  54. no idea mate, they contacted me, i certainly did not call them

i have only posted about 10 articles.

  55. it may have also helped my cause that a few other prominent, respected arsenal bloggers emailed me to applaud my post.

think some of them may have already been on 😉

  56. K-TR7 says:

Ramsey is back in training…hope he makes villa game

  57. K-TR7 says:

Merida is out.such a shame he would have played am though wilshere is available

  58. avenell says:

I have high hopes for Wilshere.. He doesn’t seem to have improved much this year though..

He needs to play alongside some first team players. He got a bit over run the other day.

  59. K-TR7 says:

I think wenger is really sticking it to the media, the media calls us softies when we get kicked and injured(TW14) but when we retaliate its a national issue bigger than Haiti crisis which WG10 and Sagna did well to acknowledge after the game without receiving plaudits for it.if it was shrek, fat frank or stevie me the media would put them on a pedestal.I really hope we win the league against all odds…it would be a memory to cherish

  60. so very true K-TR7

the national media are very anti-arsenal, the gallas incident has totally epitomised it.

we go top of the league, leapfrogging debt ridden clubs.. in a financial crisis… yet all we here is bleating about a silly mistimed tackle.

how much noise was made about that feckwit from brums mistimed tackle that bust eduardo leg?

nowhere near as much as gallas’ and the fella he injured is our for 3 weeks

    disgusting.

  61. rico says:

    Afternoon all,

SH – I have edited one of your comments where you mention a post you did – I read the post and it refers to another AFC site and its authors in a not very nice fashion…

I know Avenell Road is not my site, but I wrote the post this morning and cannot condone such comments on something I have written.

  62. what you on abour rico?

  63. rico says:

SH – You made reference earlier to one of your posts which you believe to have helped you get on to ATVO..

  64. and? what the hell has that got to do with anybody else’s site?

you have taken a despicable so called moral high ground here… why?

    are you anti-arsenal?

  65. and if it was such a post… why would arsenal tv pick it up and call me on?

why would the respected arsenal bloggers out there email me and applaud me?

where are you putting Avenell Road? in the blogoshpere?

think carefully, this is not your site, you have no right to ruin it.

  66. rico says:

I took out the reference to ‘that post’ – just letting you know why, thats all!

Its not high ground, its the rules set out in ‘Boring Boring Avenell’

We don’t slate bloggers, other sites,or their authors..

  67. do you post on other sites?

why did avenell not remove it as its HIS site?

awful behaviour, out of order on this wonderful blog.

  68. up the arsenal

    down with the anti-arsenal

    AMEN

  69. rico says:

SH, its my post, take it or leave it!!

Either stick to the rules, of if you can’t please don’t blog on the posts I write.. Simple!!

  70. rico says:

Yes SH, at the moment you do, just stick to the rules or you won’t !!

  71. how dare you, who do you think you are?

i have communication from the blog starter going back to this time last year… i know what this blog is about.

i know the rules, as does the blog owner… who did not edit my posts.

i made no direct reference to anybody.

please get off that high horse and grow up.

  72. and YOU should stop making reference to other blogs… i never have

    YOU have.

  75. alfamilano says:

If the Man U win tomorrow then Chelsea go 3rd I think? ‘Are they really a top 4 team’ (+ all the other quotes from the experts after the Chelsea match).

  76. London says:

Well, I’m just dying to know what was written now.

    Good Post Rico.

SharkeySure has found the channel, good blogger that man, a very interesting point of view.

  77. London says:

    Hi Alfa

No, I wasn’t skiing in Albania, I’m in France but the game was on Albanian TV and that is how the clever French bar got to show the game.

  78. alfamilano says:

Thanks London, I’d sort of figured that out, just liked the image of you watching the Arsenal surrounded by Albanians 😆

You go away and Chelsea are top, you come back and they are 3rd and we are top. Can’t you stay away a bit longer?

  79. London says:

Thats funny. Do you know who the mancs are playing that could put them above Chelsea?

  80. alfamilano says:

Rico, The Times reckon we need 7 points out of our next 4 games to stay top. What do you reckon? I think we can do that. 12 out of 12 isn’t going to happen but a couple of wins and a draw must be on the cards.

  81. alfamilano says:

    London, Hull I think.

  82. alfamilano says:

    Hull at home tomorrow afternoon.

  83. London says:

12 out of 12 for me, the mancs are poor and the chavs will be more frightened of us than most will wrongly assume.

  84. alfamilano says:

But only if Song is back? 😆

  85. London says:

Probably true, do yo know when the latest he could possibly be back?

  86. London says:

I mean even if Camaroon win the ACoN what game would Song definitely be back for?

  87. alfamilano says:

K-TR7 said above that if Cameroon lose to Egypt then Song could be back for Man U.

  88. alfamilano says:

If they get to the final he will still be back for the Chelsea game.

  89. rico says:

    Hi alfa & London

I reckon if we can at least draw against the chavs, life will be good – manure and dippers at home… win win win 🙂

  90. rico says:

:oops; sorry kelsey i missed you off of my hellos 😦

  91. alfamilano says:

Rico, that would do nicely. Could be a great month. Got to go, back later maybe.

  92. K-TR7 says:

I tend to have a sneaky suspicion that we will do better than expected in the next four matches.if cameroon get to semis song will not be available for mancs due to final/3’rd place playoffs but after watching both egypt and cameroon play id say egypt is stronger.my only wish over next 3 weeks is fitness of players esp nasri/morzart.morzart has a first touch only comparable to RVP’S and is so crucial in build ups in opposition penalty area, even cesc doesn’t have it yet though it will come so stay fit tomas esp with rvp out.get well soon nasri pleaseee…

  93. London says:

With genuine respect SFH. I cannot comment.

  94. London says:

    Dinner is calling, a bientot

  95. rico says:

    See you later London, alfa

  96. rico says:

K-T – I am with you on that sneaky feeeling, we will do to the chavs what they did to us along the way…

  97. goonersan says:

    Evening all,

    Rico,
Have a sip of of your favourite poison and relax this is a great site BECAUSE it allows people to opine without being abused for their opinions.

I very rarely post but do here because of the affable nature of the the other bloggers.

However, If London agrees with aidan that we should play ” dirty” then go support Bolton.

  98. rico says:

    goonersan,

Its not about an opinion, its about respecting the rules….

Do that, and everyone can blog 😉

  99. rico says:

    Who is aiden?

  100. peachesgooner says:

I hope someone does keep deleting your comments – this blog is for people who want to discuss their views on Arsenal not to discuss their opinion of other blogs – thats just sad 😦

when united won the league 2 seasaons back,we beat them home and away, so who knows. the spirit is good and it really depends on key players remaining fit.

9 points would do me, but I am more interested in who plays on Sunday.

  103. K-TR7 says:

We are goal kings of europe even ahead of barca, top of fair play table, scored most amount of goals outside the box about 11 while chavs had 5 who are second contrary to commentators bitching about us passing to goal but still the media focus on Gallas who must be wondering why the media torments him so much

  104. kelsey says:

Gunners (from): Fabianski, Clichy, Campbell, Silvestre, Coquelin, Rosicky, Eastmond, Wilshere, Walcott, Eduardo, Vela, Mannone, Vermaelen, Arshavin, Traore, Gallas, Emmanuel-Thomas, Denilson, Fabregas.

    that’s not a bad squad

  105. goonersan says:

    Rico

Its your site. BUT it is about opinions within the rules.
    No Opinions , No rules
aidan is the blogger who suggested yesterday that we should play “dirty”
I objected to that besause we do not !!!!!

  106. rico says:

    That’s a pretty strong squad kelsey 🙂

  107. kelsey says:

    indeed rico.

by the way my money is still on peggy who killed archie 😉 until tomorrow buenes nochas.

  108. rico says:

Night night kelsey, and thanks 😉

  109. rico says:

And yes, peggy for me too kelsey 😉

  110. rico says:

    Stay safe all

    Night night

  111. Rasputin says:

……… Loic Remy’s agent has revealed that the French frontman will leave Lille in the next 48 hours — and he didn’t rule out Arsenal as a possible destination.

The 23-year-old, like many prospects in his homeland, has been earmarked as ‘the new Thierry Henry’ and admittedly does have similar qualities to the former Gunner including blistering pace.

“Fiorentina and AC Milan? If they are interested they have to hurry up because in the next 48 hours, the deal could be done with another team, which isn’t Italian, said his agent Frederic Guerra.

“The Chief Executive of the club [who are interested] just called me and there’s an agreement. Is it Arsenal? I cannot comment about names or give any information about the country [of the interested team].”

Remy certainly fits the bill for Arsenal who are desperate for a goal-getting targetman in the absence of Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger hasn’t ruled out buying a striker either, telling reporters today that anything is possible.

“It is very difficult in January to find players who are available for the Champions League, who are just good enough to play for Arsenal and at the right price. You never know, but at the moment it is unlikely [that we will sign a striker].

“To buy more strikers would mean that to give them a chance to play you have to change the system. The system at the moment suits some players and the team very well. It raises many question, not only the investment potential but the whole balance of the squad.”

  112. peachesgooner says:

But why is he leaving……is he for sale or has he got the hump………

  113. JonJon says:

    nice post rico..

  114. Big Raddy says:

That kind of statement from an agent really pees me off. He is just trying to up the ante on a deal either with his present club or the signing club.

It is always easy to mention Arsenal if the player is French,

Fine squad for the Stoke game and quite a surprise, I thought we would rest as many as possible of the first team.

  115. peachesgooner says:

This was on a NN link for tomorrow

Sol Campbell will make his second Arsenal debut at the heart of defence and will be joined in the side by Jack Wilshere, who has recovered successfully from injury.

    Fabianski

    Eastmond-Campbell-Vermaelen-Traore

    Denilson

    Wilshere-Rosicky

    Walcott-Eduardo-Vela

subs: Mannone, Clichy, Silvestre, Emmanuel Thomas, Coquelin, Sunu, Bartley.

  116. kelsey says:

    morning all,

we just had an hour of an electric storm and the lightning took all the power off the house.anyway all restored.

on sky sports news it stated we were the second most fouled of all the clubs and more importantly we were fourteenth in giving away fouls.

  117. JonJon says:

    anyone watching SSN??

    go get em charlie

  118. Rasputin says:

    Hi Roadsters,

Sorry I’ve been missing for a couple of days…

I agree with all those that love the FA cup but realise that Arsene is correct to protect the important players for the upcoming league games….

  119. Rasputin says:

A friend of ours in the antipodes posted this potential team selection elsewhere … pretty exciting if you ask me …..

    ——————– Fabianski ——————

    Coquelin — Campbell —- Silvestre —— Traore

    —————— Eastmond ———————-

    ———-Wilshere —————- ????

    Walcott ——— Eduardo ————- Vela

Don’t sue me MO – I hang on your every word 😉

  120. Rasputin says:

Maybe Randall will be the ????

  121. Rasputin says:

I’ll keep posting in case anyone wants to talk to me 😦

Senderos HAS gone to Everton on loan. I wonder how much first team footbal he’ll get?

  122. peachesgooner says:

Hi rasp – how is your day going? I’m cooking for England here – looks and smells so delicious 🙂

Is it worth trying to find out whats happening in other FA cup ties……..when do the losers from down the road play…….

  123. peachesgooner says:

Ok found it – spuds playing later and the chavs are 1 up against Preston…..

Come on Hull……all the terrible things I’ve said about you and your dreadful manager I take them back …….. for a while at least 😆

  124. Rasputin says:

    Hi peaches,

The chavs have won (game not over yet) For the only time in my life, I’m supporting Phil Brown….

  125. peachesgooner says:

    We’re such a fickle lot aren’t we …….

  126. Rasputin says:

    Manure 1 nil up 😦

  127. peachesgooner says:

You’re not wishing hard enough rasp 😛

  128. peachesgooner says:

rico must be at the Madejski stadium celebrating 🙂

  129. peachesgooner says:

Darren Bent has scored again……hes still got a house in north london………hes a gooner…….he knows where the goal is………no chance of Steve Bruce letting him go though and I know many would laugh at the suggestion………

  130. kelsey says:

I feel sorry for Senderos in a way.Still it saves 500GBP a week, good for the books.

  131. kelsey says:

is this site on auto pilot 🙂

  132. peachesgooner says:

Hello kelsey – how are you feeling today?

  133. Rasputin says:

    Hi kelsey, peaches,

Looks like there are a couple of upsets on the cards in the FA cup ….. come on Leeds

  134. Rasputin says:

2 nil manure now …. no longer top of the league 😦

  135. kelsey says:

    awful, can’t talk much.

  136. kelsey says:

    3-0 rasp

    whoops

    4-0 all rooney

  137. Rasputin says:

Without Rooney they’d be nothing, but with him in this form, they can beat anyone ….

  138. London says:

Their whole season rests on Rooney: an RVP type injury and they finish outside the top four.

    Afternoon Roadsters.

  139. London says:

Jonjon or anyone, as he is unlikely to be near an internet, what does this mean? I am a bit out of the loop here.

    anyone watching SSN??

    go get em charlie

  140. London says:

Ah that is why everyone has disappeared, there is a chance of watching spuds lose. Lol

  141. peachesgooner says:

Hi London – hows the snow 🙂

  142. Rasputin says:

Hi London …AR’s gone into hybernation 😦

  143. alfamilano says:

Spuds on top but Leeds have had a couple of chance.

Some Leeds oiks in our High Street today (which nowhere near White Hart Lane so not sure why). Nice to see some fans oop for the Coop but did they have to fulfill every Northern git stereotype?

Spuds 1-0 Crouch (I hope you take note London 😉

  144. alfamilano says:

    Hi Rasp and peaches

  145. Rasputin says:

    Hi alfa,

Leeds aren’t out of the game yet. I’d settle for a draw and Leeds to win the replay at ER 😉

  146. kelsey says:

well senderos has gone on loan and then he is a free agent in the summer. we aren’t exactly blessed with cover so why ? or has the boss lined someone else up.Doesn’t make sense financially or beneficial to the squad. any thoughts ?

  147. kelsey says:

i never talk about leeds and i can’t talk about spurs though a draw is feasable.

  148. Rasputin says:

    You’re right kelsey – they’re both despicable clubs – on a par with Millwall…….

  149. peachesgooner says:

In terms of cover it wasn’t sensible to send BP to Milan last season – he can play as a HM and CB ….

    and Leeds equalise 🙂

  150. peachesgooner says:

Of the 2 I’d always want the spuds to be disappointed……..

  151. peachesgooner says:

Hi alfa – have you got a small wager with London 😉

  152. Rasputin says:

    1 all

  153. peachesgooner says:

I think he must be carrying an injury – he was out injured almost as soon as he got to Milan and Arsene said he was facing a fitness test a couple of weeks ago when we expected to see him………

  154. peachesgooner says:

It will be interesting to see if he plays at Everton………

  155. Rasputin says:

    bollox 2:1 to the scummers

  156. peachesgooner says:

    Penalty for Leeds

  157. Rasputin says:

Yeeeaaahhhhh 2 all in the 94th minute 😆

  158. peachesgooner says:

You have to love them for upsetting all those spuds… 😆

  159. peachesgooner says:

It warms the heart doesn’t it rasp…… 😳

  160. peachesgooner says:

Eeeek I’m having dinner with gooners and spuds tonight ……………….

  161. alfamilano says:

Raps, no bet, not my thing, but I suggested on here the other day that Crouch could be our big striker signing (A bit tongue in cheek ;)). London told me I was crazy.

2-2 perfect result – last minute – replay – ‘arry twitching fit to bust – perfect.

  162. peachesgooner says:

alfa – it was me and I think you have a point about crouch 😀

  163. kelsey says:

on that performance, spurs could challenge for the first division title 😉

  164. Benwell says:

If were to line Harry’s pockets we could do worse than get the unhappy Russian and pair him up with his mate, would they dare let him fire us to the title.
    Better bet than Crouchie!
Lets hope Harry’s magic works for the Spuds in the not too distant future, his penchant for financial meltdown that is Bournemouth, Pompey, West Ham, Saints…Spuds next???

  165. alfamilano says:

Hi there Benwell, nice to talk to you on here not just at the match.

  166. Rasputin says:

Crap- transfer rumour of the day…..

Merida in a cash plus player deal for Babel …. no thanks, I’d rather have Merida any day….

  167. Irishgunner says:

I think that should be “Babel plus cash for Merida”

Having said that I think Babel is a player Rafa Benitez has made a complete mess out of.

  168. Rasputin says:

Transfer rumour I don’t want to be true … Carlton Cole to the spuds 😦

  169. peachesgooner says:

How many strikers do the spuds need……..

  170. Irishgunner says:

Just how many strikers to Spuds want?

Cole is always out injured anyway Rasp.

  171. peachesgooner says:

Hi Irish – are you staying up for the game?

  172. peachesgooner says:

    Snap 🙂

  173. Irishgunner says:

    Hiya Peaches – yep.

On at 12.30am so not too bad, better than having to get up at 2am/3am

  174. Irishgunner says:

    😆 Freaky Peaches ha ha

  175. Rasputin says:

Robbing Robbie is on his way I reckon so ‘arry’s in the market for a striker and a brown envelope …

  176. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters..

Sorry I haven’t been around, I had a piece of Land Rover in my eye.. 😦

Any team news? I reckon it will be stronger than a reserve team today.. Stoke should suit Sol..

I’m not sure about the Babel thing, He has potential but Rafa has ruined him..

    Horseface went to Hamburg ff..

  177. Rasputin says:

Hi ave – was it the crank shaft? 😉

  178. Irishgunner says:

Keane to Celtic I reckon – himself and Bellamy must be having a “moving in every transfer window competition”

  179. Rasputin says:

    Personally, I’m pist’n broke 🙄

  180. Rasputin says:

    Hi Irish,

What do you think of our new hardman enforcer … Tomas ‘THE TANK’ Rosicky?

  181. peachesgooner says:

Obviously ‘arry didn’t get enough of a back-hander when he bought Robbie back from L’pool so hes looking to top up his reserves……………

  182. avenell says:

    He could sell Bentley.. hahaha.

  183. Irishgunner says:

    I ❤ Super Tom 😀

  184. Irishgunner says:

    I’m spammed again

  185. Rasputin says:

    ‘arry’s favourite song …..

    Ullo John! Gotta new striker?
    Ullo John! Gotta new striker?
They put me in a special hospital
    Is there life on Mars?
    Is there life on Mars?
    Is there life in Peckham?
    Is there life in Peckham?
What’s that switch over there for?
Ah ah ah ah ow…ah ah ah ah ow
    Ullo John! Gotta new striker?
    Ullo John! Gotta new striker?

  186. Rasputin says:

    I keep tropical fish
    I keep tropical fish
    In my underpants
    In my underpants

  187. Irishgunner says:

What the hell is that rasp??? 😆

  188. Irishgunner says:

Rasp – to re-answer your question. I think Super Tom is rather hot lately 😉 Agh Super Tom

  189. Rasputin says:

You’re too young obviously Irish …. look it up …Alexei Sale … Ullo John Gotta a New Motor …. it’s pure ‘arry 😉

  190. Rasputin says:

Hahahaha – even funnier than I remember …

  191. Irishgunner says:

‘Arry and Son when they get old

  192. Irishgunner says:

“How do you know my name?” 😆

  193. Irishgunner says:

    ‘Arry in a shop 😆

  194. Irishgunner says:

AHAHAHAHA the video above really is Arry in the transfer window 😆

  195. Rasputin says:

    Irish 😆

  196. Irishgunner says:

Sheesh this place is quiet – there is a match on in 30mins or am I staying up for nothing???

    HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO

  197. Rasputin says:

Do you know the team yet Irish?

  198. Irishgunner says:

    Horrah Rasp is back 😀

Did you watch the second video?? That is SO most managers in the transfer window.

“Can I have one of them and you of them?” 😆

  199. Irishgunner says:

    *two not you

    Nope, is it out Rasp??

  200. Rasputin says:

Looks like ‘arry likes Jamie O’hara Irish and wants him back – is he from the north or the south?

  201. Rasputin says:

Can’t find a team sheet yet, will post when I do. Is it on telly downunder?

  202. Irishgunner says:

    He’s English I think Rasp

  203. Irishgunner says:

Its probably on Foxsports but I don’t have that channel so its a link for me

  204. Rasputin says:

Oops – there I go stereotyping again, I thought with a name like that???

  205. Irishgunner says:

Just did a quick snoop Rasp – he is English but qualifies for both the Rep and North of Ireland if he chooses to switch under FIFA rules.

He was once in the Arsenal Academy.

  206. Rasputin says:

Yea, I know we trained him and let him go. He looks a decent player … you can’t always get it right I suppose. I hope we keep hold of Merida, that would be a mistake…..

  207. Irishgunner says:

I think Wenger wants to keep Merida – just he has a wealth of players that can play his position.

Merida wants to play too – hopefully we can sign him for another few years and maybe going out on loan next season may placate him?

  208. Rasputin says:

    Arsenal

Fabianski; Coquelin, Silvestre, Campbell, Clichy; Eastmond, Denilson, Wilshere; Walcott, Vela, Rosicky

Subs: Almunia, Gallas, Senderos, Vermaelen, Traoré, Fábregas, Arshavin, Mérida, Eduardo

    Stoke City

Sorensen; Wilkinson, Huth, Shawcross, Higginbotham; Lawrence, Diao, Whitehead, Etherington; Tuncay, Sidibe

Subs: Simonsen, Whelan, Fuller, Kitson, Pugh, Delap, Ab Faye, Collins, Am Faye

  209. Irishgunner says:

Stoke: Sorensen, Huth, Shawcross, Higginbotham, Collins, Delap, Whitehead, Whelan, Etherington, Sidibe, Fuller. Subs: Simonsen, Lawrence, Beattie, Pugh, Diao, Sanli, Wilkinson.
Arsenal: Fabianski, Coquelin, Campbell, Silvestre, Traore, Eastmond, Denilson, Fabregas, Walcott, Emmanuel-Thomas, Vela. Subs: Mannone, Rosicky, Eduardo, Ramsey, Arshavin, Bartley, Frimpong.

  210. Rasputin says:

I’m glad to see Coquelin finally get a run out. A chance for Vela to shine. Eastmond is going to have to be the midfield enforcer. Fair play to Arsene, he’s made it clear where his priorities lie from this team selection.

  211. Rasputin says:

Merida on the bench suggests that Arsene may even be protecting him for the Villa game?

  212. Rasputin says:

More likely he’s not fully recovered from injury…

  213. Irishgunner says:

You only beat me cos I got put into Spam again Rasp 😆

Although where did you get it from?? BBC has Cesc as a starter

  214. Irishgunner says:

Fabianski, Coquelin, Campbell, Silvestre, Traore, Eastmond, Denilson, Fabregas, Walcott, Emmanuel-Thomas, Vela.

  215. Rasputin says:

A link on NN … could be poop

  216. peachesgooner says:

    Look at you 2 blogging away…… 😉

  217. Irishgunner says:

    FFS spam again 🙄

  218. Rasputin says:

    Someone’s gotta do it peaches … 🙄

  219. Irishgunner says:

    Fab
    Coquelin
    Silvestre
    Campbell
    Traore
    Eastmond
    Denilson
    Cesc
    Walcott
    JET
    Vela

  220. Irishgunner says:

😆 Senderos been on the bench for your one should have given it away Rasp

  221. Rasputin says:

    No-one like a smartass Irish 😛

  222. Irishgunner says:

Although BBC have Ramsey as a sub??? Anyone know the real line-up isn’t Ramsey still out? no Wilshere on their list either

  223. Rasputin says:

I wouldn’t play Cesc. I know our options are limited, but we have to keep him fit if we want to be in with a chance of winning the prem.

  224. Irishgunner says:

Nope my team is right, Arse.com have Ramsey as a sub too

  225. avenell says:

    Sorry Irish.. your out now..

  226. Rasputin says:

That’s good news about Ramsay – he should be available for the Villa game then.

  227. Irishgunner says:

Its alright Avenell – Rasp got his team up first but he was WRONG 😆 😉

  228. Rasputin says:

And you wonder why no-one wants to blog with you ….. 😆 😎

  229. Irishgunner says:

    Hi again Peaches 🙂

To play Cesc or not to play Cesc that is the question?

He doesn’t play him, he’s not taken the FA Cup seriously, he plays him and he could get injured for the upcoming games….

  230. Irishgunner says:

Rasp how can I help it if I’m always right 8)

Agh I found a French link – screw you ITV bias… though I’m still angry at all of France!!!!!!!!

  231. Rasputin says:

Not worth the risk of playing Cesc, even if he doesn’t get injured, he should still be rested. Why start with him? Put him, on the bench anbd bring him on if needed.

  232. Irishgunner says:

He could rest him and start him against Villa and he could get injured in the first minute – always a risk I suppose. Wenger wants the triple 😀

  233. Irishgunner says:

    Oh great……..

  234. Irishgunner says:

    Bring back Almunia!!!! Sheesh

  235. Rasputin says:

1 nil down in the 1st minute …… who’d have thought that a Delap throw in would trouble us 🙄

  236. peachesgooner says:

    Cesc is playing……..

  237. Rasputin says:

We need to weather the storm and regroup. They can’t keep this pace up. Don’t panic, just look after the ball and make them chase shadows.

  238. Rasputin says:

OK – looks like we can’t keep hold of the ball 😦

  239. Irishgunner says:

FFS Theo and Vela are crap today

  240. Irishgunner says:

    Yeah, now what Stoke???????

  241. Rasputin says:

    That’s a reprieve, now let’s play football…..

  242. Irishgunner says:

This is ridiculous – I’ll tell ya where I’ll shove that towel 👿

  243. avenell says:

There must be a rule that a towel is not part of the equipment used in a game of football..

  244. Irishgunner says:

Graeme Souness is a complete and utter arse

  245. kelsey says:

    Irishgunner Says:
    January 24, 2010 at 2:06 pm

FFS Theo and Vela are crap today. agreed.

stoke are crap, the throw ins amount to extra time of about 8 minutes.

we have been very poor but throw on arsh, eddie and rosicky and nail them.

notice how poor the crowd is. yawn

  246. Rasputin says:

A friend has suggested that time should be added on (30 secs per towel incident). If they can have towels, we should be allowed a manicure when the ball goes off.

  247. Irishgunner says:

Hopefully we will go on to be 2/3 ahead in stoppage time and we look for a towel every thrown in and take a minute to wipe it.

  248. Rasputin says:

That’s interesting ave – eventually the 4th official took the towels away from the ballboys … its cheating if it gives them an advantage by wasting time and its unfair if the other team can’t employ the same tactics.

  249. Rasputin says:

Hearing good things about Sol’s performance…

….headline for tomorrow if we win…. “Stoke throw in the Towel”

  250. Irishgunner says:

I thought AA was going to come on with the hat 😆

  251. Irishgunner says:

    Fuck

  252. Irishgunner says:

    FFS can’t even run

  253. Irishgunner says:

Every single player out there (bar Campbell) needs to have a look at themselves – all of them bar Campbell were crap, absolutely crap.

Arshavin should have stayed on the bench for all the effort he has put in. Same for Eduardo, appalling.

  254. avenell says:

    Theo was good though.. 😉

  255. Rasputin says:

    😦 😦 😦 😦

  256. avenell says:

I also thought that keepers can only hold the ball for 16 seconds.. The Stoke keeper had it for 21.. They just ruin the tempo..

    Wengers interview will be interesting..

  257. Irishgunner says:

Its 3am and I’m tired and angry.

The likes of Walcott, Arshavin, Vela didn’t look bothered – shocking.

  258. kelsey says:

The result doesn’t matter if we pick up our form over the next week. Why play Fabregas in that line up ? Either play a full first team available or play the reserves.
Walcott…..don’t get me started. Vela…..another one. denilson……another one.

all too lightweight for the rough and tumble for the PL

3 subs at once had no impact, stoke were hungrier not better than us. oh well roll on villa.

  259. goonersan says:

    Boy Oh boy,

Yesterday, StringfellowHawke seemed to take it big time for something he said which everybody else who reads on here cannot judge or form an opinion on because its “moderated”.
I liked this site, because, it appeared to allow expression without the normal Blogoshere aggression.

However, if the main posters only want to talk to each other and not have any dissenting opinion why not just txt each other.

I don’t like a lot of sites because of the “slagging” but too much back slapping is equally nausiating.

I guess I’ll be not welcome now Oh well !!!!

  260. JonJon says:

    goonersan..

    what you on about??

  261. avenell says:

Goonersan… everyone is welcome on here..

But we have rules that we don’t slag off each other or other sites..

Stringfellows site does this (which is up to him, no problem) but putting a direct link on here kind of breaks the rules.

We have people on this site who drink and go to games with other site owners and bloggers and they did not feel comfortable blogging with people who are slagging off there friends.

This is supposed to be a friendly site where we can talk about Arsenal and other things.

Also if we only wanted to talk to each other, why did we try for 11 months to get on Newsnow?

  262. JonJon says:

let me put a differnet spin on it ave….

    jan 22 2.52…

the rules of avenell rd were broken…

the author of the post recognised this and politely tried to make the person involved aware as we are not a site that encourages battles with other sites/authors..or slagging…

its attitudes like this that creates the good fan bad fan vibe that makes blogging so fucking hard sometimes cos ppl have got their heads so far up their arses and cant see the shit from the shite….

that author was then targeted and spoke to like a child….

all ive got to say its a fucking good job i wasnt around….

ave im going to ring you later if thats ok??? or do you want me to text you????????

  263. avenell says:

Can you ring JJ?. Now if you want..

  264. goonersan says:

    Hold on,
I wasn’t trying to knock you I was only making a point that there are other opinions out there..

Now you have started swearing and I suppose thats OK because you have said it.

I thought this site was good but now it appears that if you dissent your slated. I actually didn’t agree with the poster you censored but you seem to round on anybody that disagrees.

Shall I call you or txt?????? Cheap.

  265. avenell says:

You see this is the problem goonersan… Arsenal played today and you have no opinion.. Yet you seem to have one on how to run a site..

If you get a account with WordPress you can start your own site and make up your own rules.. If I came on your site I would respect them..

This is a football site not a site that is here for people to have views on how to run sites you don’t or do agree with.

  266. avenell says:

oh and gunnersan… don’t think you are important enough for us to waste money on talking about you do you?

  267. peachesgooner says:

Goonersan – please don’t think that any comments are deleted or moderated lightly by any of the authors – we are all here to talk Arsenal primarily, sometimes discussions end up being more varied as a few of us have blogged together for a long time.

The comments that were deleted were not really about football and were offensive to some thats why they were deleted. They didn’t have anything to do with opinions about Arsenal.

  268. kelsey says:

    gunnersan,

what is your real motive for coming on here tonight. be truthful, you said you liked the site and now two days on you bring up a subject that i understand is being delt with by the owners.

  269. kelsey says:

    sorry goonersan.

  270. goonersan says:

    Hold on fella
I have respected your rules. I have never disrespected you, your site or anybody else, Please tell me when I did ?

Yeah and I was there today !!!!!

I could blog all night about how people played but if you only watch on television you could never discourse because you do not see what happens “off the ball” how players mark, hold, press, cover.

The point is I am not trying to run your site but I was and have stated before that I liked the way your site was run. However, not knowing the full details of the dispute with S’ hawke I was merely pointing out it was hard to form an opinion with no hard data..

But saying “its a fucking good job I wasnt around” is neither helpful or hard.

You have my e mail address send me a note and we can meet outside the Emirates to swear it out if thats what you want ?

  271. JonJon says:

    lol…..

    oh dear…

  272. kelsey says:

may i make a suggestion.please keep this off the site. e mail whoever, put up a new post and tomorrow is another day, thanks.

  273. avenell says:

goonersan.. Respect that you went today..I don’t go any more but I did go to over 300 games in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.. I used to rush home to see the games on the MOTD as well.. so I have seen both sides..
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know we were rubbish today.

Although you spent 90 mins watching what you saw… I also spent 90 mins watching the TV just because you go to the game you cannot dismiss other peoples view of a game because your view was different..

  274. goonersan says:

    Kelsey

    Thanks for your comment.
I have no motive and I did really like this site.

I was merely stating that I didn’t know what had been posted and deleted by moderation and if it is not explained then how could I form an opinion on whether the comments were justified..
I guess from all the posts since, I appreciate that it was a rules issue and if that had been clearly pointed out then all this could have been avoided.

    Oh well !!!!

  275. goonersan says:

    “lol ….
    oh dear ”
Get it off here send an e mail !!!!!!!!!!

  276. London says:

    Goonersan

If you want proof that not all the regulars think the same way, here you go: I think SFH is completely innocent of the accusations; as I see it he did not break the rules which say you must not talk about another sites on here, he talked about other sites on his own blog, it doesn’t say anywhere that people are not allowed to create a link to their own site.

  277. goonersan says:

    Hi London

Thanks for your comment .. In the short time I have blogged on here and the slightly longer time I have visited tis site I have always liked your comments.
I was feeling somewhat alone….. not that I was bothered by that but its nice to know that others think there is an opposite view to some.

I dont suppose I will be on here much longer as I think I may well be M………

  278. London says:

Perhaps, if he had been asked to remove the link he would have politely obliged.

I don’t know who is doing the report tomorrow but I have done lengthy player ratings if they might be of any use, they can be chopped and changed, I am not precious about them. I would offer the whole report but I’m knackered….let me know, but now worries, if not, I’m sure I will find another game to use them.

  279. London says:

    Goonersan

They just don’t like people being rude about other sites thats all, apart from that disagreement is encouraged, I mean, it has to be, they let me on the site. Lol.

  280. London says:

    Hey Goonersan

Make yourself useful and write a match report.

  281. avenell says:

London it wasn’t the link.. It was the way rico was treated after she asked for it to be removed..

You are making assumptions that you don’t really know all the details about..

  282. London says:

It’s true, I am making assumptions, I read every comment that day and didn’t see one that asked him to remove the link, just accusations about breaking rules, I therfore, perhaps wrongly, assumed that he was never simply asked to remove the link.

  283. goonersan says:

    London,

That’s what all this waste of communication has been About today, Assmptions…. Assumption is the mother of all f… ups.

If somebody had explained what the issue was.. it would have been end of Now its just boring, would like to have spoken to you more London but it appears my days are numbered on this site.

  284. goonersan says:

    avenell

    Respect you went to over 300 games in the 70’s 80’s &90’s 100 games a year !!!!!

  285. avenell says:

300 hundred games in a thirty year span is er… 10 games a year on average..

    300 games in a 3 year period is 100 a year… 😉

  286. goonersan says:

    Avenell

    I stand corrected.

  287. Rasputin says:

    Hi Roadsters,

Goonersan, as far as I’m aware, no-one wants to chuck you off the site. You are not going to be made a martyr in the name of free speech. The history of the site and interaction of the bloggers is complicated. Your original assessment of the site was correct.

SH had been on the site before many months ago and clearly has some issues with other sites. You are correct that he didn’t air those views on here, but he did exhibit the one thing that we find it hard to tolerate – the inability to disagree without resorting to bullying. Rico is a fine person and as passionate an Arsenal supporter as it’s possible to be and she has worked tirelessly to get the site to where it is today.

I hope you stick around and we can chat more. A performance like today’s always makes the comments more extreme.

  288. Rasputin says:

    Hi again Goonersan,

I completely agree with your last paragraph and I’d imagine the majority on here would do the same – which just puts into perspective all the other ‘misunderstandings’

From my point of view, I am comfortable to pass comment on things that I don’t agree with at Arsenal as I know that my motivation is just wanting the best for the club, not a lack of loyalty – and I reckon that goes for the rest of us. We may all be deluded at times in one way or another but the defining motivation is a love of Arsenal which I can clearly see you share.

  289. Rasputin says:

Actually on second reading, maybe I don’t completely agree if you were saying that you were in favour of playng Cesc. You’re right AW chose a side that may just have ‘knicked’ the result but it also stood a chance of failing dismally and destroying the good momentum we’d built up.

I wouldn’t have risked Cesc. He’s wasted energy with the biggest 4 games in recent history coming up in quick succession. IMO we should have either gone for an out and out CC-type side (my preference) or gambled and played the strongest possible team in the hope of bringing home the FA Cup to the possible detriment of the CL and Prem campaigns.

  290. peachesgooner says:

Hi rasp – I posted on a other site that obviously Cesc wanted to play which as our captain I could understand and that this team was a Mark 2 team built around Cesc – I would say that our Mark 1 team built around Cesc is much stronger and more used to playing together and contains more talented footballers.

I was surprised that Cesc played and even if we had won I would have felt that he should have been rested having just come back from injury.

  291. peachesgooner says:

I didn’t think TV looked particularly tired the other nite when he spun onto that ball to volley it into the net for the goal against Bolton.

I can understand Gallas being tired I suppose because of his age but not TV.

    Didn’t Sol do well………

  292. avenell says:

Cesc played because Wilshere had an illness according to ITV..

  293. peachesgooner says:

Denilson is the weak link now – he wasn’t doing the simple things well today – his instructions have changed I think and hes trying to do too much……

Most have said since the start of the season that we would miss Song and that there wasn’t another player in the squad that could step into his boots and give even 60% of a Song performance and while its not good for us to be right theres no point in thinking its Denilson.

  294. peachesgooner says:

I don’t believe Arsene would have sent out a mid-three of Wilshire, Eastmond and Denilson against Stoke……..surely Ramsey would have played in there before Jack?

  295. avenell says:

    Don’t shoot the messenger..

Perhaps Ramsey wasn’t ready for 90 mins as he as only just come back from injury..

  296. peachesgooner says:

Ok not your fault ave 🙂

  297. peachesgooner says:

In the old days he would have played more of a mix if he wanted to rest some players – if we didn’t have a squad decimated by injuries he could have done that……..look it could have come off…..if we’d been playing at home it might have been different. When they went 2-1 up some players gave up and thats hard to watch……….

  298. avenell says:

lol… not much else to laugh about..

So much rests on wednesday now…. 😦 the pressure will either increase or deflate after that..

  299. avenell says:

I would have played.. (I know I have said it before) either my best team available, then rested 3 players ASAP.. Or threw it in the 3rd round, what have we gained by risking most of the first team in the 3rd round?

Cesc today had to do more than his fair share and I don’t see how that helped in any way..

  300. peachesgooner says:

I agree ave – why play cesc basically on his own 😦

I think the injuries to so many 1st team players made the decision for him……….Nasri, Diaby, Merida, Nikki and Robin plus Song and Eboue all unavailable……

  301. avenell says:

Anyway it’s all over for another year.. just the mickey mouse PL and the CL to play for…. eh dippers… 😉

  302. avenell says:

Now Man U, Liverpool and us (Mainly) are out of the FA cup now.. the draw doesn’t look too exciting..

  303. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

Just a few observations after yesterday’s game..

    Campbell is better than Tweety

    Denilson is not very good
    Theo ” ” ” ”

Cesc is brilliant but he cannot carry 6 other players

It seldom works when Arsene tries a mishmash of senior and 2nd string players. The team has no balance and we look a shambles

  304. Big Raddy says:

    Morning,

My main concern was the lack of protection that Fabregas received from the Ref. Cesc was systematically fouled through the whole first half, which must have been a tactic devised by Pulis. Nullify our main threat & we are beatable by a team of thugs.

I write “devised” because the attacks upon Cesc were rarely by the same player twice in a row.

AW must have been terribly disappointed by the right side of the team, Coquelin, Denilson & Theo were hopeless against a very physical team. No power, no cohesion and no imagination

  305. London says:

    Rasp

I have put something new up to change the scenery.

    New Post

  306. London says:

    BR

Can you re post that comment again to get things rolling on today’s affairs.

  307. Big Raddy says:

    Sure can London.
