We’re on a Journey to the Top of the League!

If we win the sequel to yesterday’s game against Bolton on Wednesday night by two clear goals we leapfrog Man U and the Chav’s to go to the top of the Premiership (but we will have played an extra game) we will not be allowed to forget that, just listen out for it, it will drive you nuts.

We would also go top because we have scored the most goals in the League. You really must sign a striker Arsene. It really shows the quality of our midfield, mainly Cesc and a credit to the 4-3-3 system. A striker would be a great buy in this window, but how many no 9’s do we need in this system? If Bendtner comes back and Cesc stays fit it isn’t a disaster.

I expected yesterday’s game against Bolton was going to be one of those dull affairs, not what you would call a glamour game. The game started with the Arsenal players getting used to there tasks and Bolton obviously fired up by the appointment of Owen Coyle got stuck right in. Soon though Cesc was getting more creative time on the ball and the result of one of his thrusting runs should have resulted in a penalty when Jaaskelainen brought him down

Gradually bad feeling was creeping into the game when Phil Dowd began to think he was refereeing a Pikey bare knuckle fight, the rules went out of the window Cesc got a right kicking off Taylor after being tripped for a second penalty shout. No calls for the FA to have another look at that, same old, same old.

Cesc was now wired and I thought we would come out second half with revenge in mind, but Bolton got the bit between there teeth and created some good chances luckily Taylor finished them like Jonny Wilkinson.

The game settled down and the subs were gradually introduced Merida for Edmond , Clichy for Rosicky and Vela for Dudu.. They all worked out pretty well for us even though they were not the normal substitutions that Arsene would make.

All in all a very satisfying game, far more exciting that I thought mainly due to as London says the good guy’s beating the baddies, but not so funny if one of the Bolton challenges had of had more serious consequences.

Almunia… 7 A good performance, never really troubled but he was complimented on AR by his no1 critic, so he must have been ok.

Sagna..7.. Defended well, didn’t see much of him going forwards, that’s what normal, mere mortal right backs do.

Gallas 7.5 .. Solid, Gazidis has got to give this guy two year deal asap.

Vermaelen.. 8.5 The signing of the season, all those who think Arsene is stubborn and tight, look no further than this man..

Traore.. 6. Sadly not one of his best games, caught out of position on a few occasions, perhaps he is feeling the pressure of a fit Clichy wanting his place back and is trying too hard.

Eastmond.. 6.5.. As mentioned yesterday he was a little out of his depth, the Premiership is quite a hurried affair. But won’t it be good in a few years time to say I remember his debut. He looked a bit like Gibbs when he first made it into the side a little lightweight, he could be Song’s replacement in two years.

Diaby.. 6.5 I don’t see why a lot of people are over hyping him, his best contribution to the game was a great run then losing it on the edge of the penalty area. Still doesn’t tackle well enough and gives the ball away too much.

Cesc Fabregas.. 9.9. nuff said.

Rosicky.. 6.5.. He never showed the skilful side of his game, but he tracked back and tackled after we had a break when one of Bolton’s clearances hit one of there own players on the back.to help create the first goal, Theo would never have put in that tackle.

Arshavin. 7.5.. Get off his back, he worked hard and is carrying an injury.
I love his petulance, reminds me of Steevie Williams before GG came.

Eduardo.. 7.5. I thought he did alright, he is the player he was, just missing the end product, I have never seen him play much better but he won’t win the critics over until he scores a few more goals. He assisted in both goals and was pulling Bolton around with lively runs.

Merida..7.5.. Best I have seen him play, easier to spot what he does playing alongside the regular first teamers. Scored a great goal, I am still open minded on him.

Clichy. 6.5 Played left wing.. This man has more energy in his first game back than Diaby and Denilson put together. Give him a go in midfield for a FA cup game.. he will run 15k plus.

Vela 6.5 The guy showed enough quality as usual, to make me wonder why he never gets to start.

Have a great day Roadsters, only two more days and we do it again.. Next time we will hit the top.

    Morning all

Rasp, I read your comment on the last blog re Tomas, have to agree his lacks confidence and should have popped a shot or two. He was nowhere near where he can be yet, but just thought he was better than his last performance – at least during this game he tried ;):P

  2. rico says:

Chris Smalling, 6’4″ CH from Fulham is being linked with us – England Under 21, pretty good by all accounts…

Senderos linked with loan to Celtic

  3. rico says:

    Nice write up ave

Dudu frustrates me, a bit like Nikki B does, he is our centre forward, our man that should be getting in the right place and scoring goals.

Imagine if we had a striker who could score goals? We would be unstoppable.

Had the corner gifted to Bolton by Almunia’s dreadful handling gone in, he would have been slated this morning.

Merida’s goal was just class, confident player, great skill and we have to tie him down really soon..

  4. rico says:

I liked Eastmonds attitude, totally out of his depth, but it didn’t put him off, his head didn’t go down once, he is going to be good… Dare I say, better than the Flamoney eventually 😉

  5. rico says:

Seems I am chit chatting to myself again, off to sort the animals out 😉

  6. alfamilano says:

Morning Rico. Good to highlight Eastmond. Given what a critical role he had I thought he did very well. Ave you were too hard on Diaby; same as with Denilson in the holding role, Diaby had to spend a lot of time tracking back and covering.

  7. rico says:

    Morning alfa

  8. rico says:

Nasri and Ramsey are out for three weeks..

I hope Merida gets to play a few games, even if its from the bench like yesterday it could be enough to convince him to stay..

  9. rico says:

Anyone see Cashley’s goal against S’land, cant stand the man, but it was rather classy 😉

  10. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

Good balanced appraisal of the game ave 😉 I got a bit carried away in hindsight with my comments yesterday, after seeing extended highlights, my rating for Al would be O.K. and for Diaby good – but not excellent!!

Hi rico, with Nasri and Ramsey out for at least 2 of the big games coming up, I’d like to see Merida start every time. He moves just like Cesc when he’s on the ball (the barca training) and he’s tough. I really want to keep him, he’ll be a Spain international and world class player in a couple of years.

My suggested headline for today “Two Frans are Better than One” … 😆

  11. rico says:

Morning Rasp – like the headline 🙂

I was thinking, ‘Don’t let one bad Fran put you off of this one’ 🙂

  12. rico says:

We haven’t come up on Newsnow today 😦

  13. rico says:

Oops, we have just popped up there, better late than never…

  14. Rasputin says:

    Or even just “FRANTASTIC”

  15. rico says:

    Now you are talking 😉

  16. rico says:

I have a feeling a purchase will be made today….

  17. rico says:

Thats because I have to go shopping 😉

    Catch you all later…

  18. W.A.T.H says:

    Mornin all………..

rico, u def have a love in for one fran but is it warranted….? As for Eastmond totally out of his depth I disagree he only made mistakes in the 2nd half and he looked tired but first half he did pretty well def not out of his depth and against big orrible norfern lumps thoough did the right thing. Will only get stronger n stronger.

  19. Big Raddy says:

WATH, I have to disagree, Eastmond was often too slow in his distribution, got caught with the ball and dispossessed, and his positional play left much to be desired.

BUT, for a first game, it was good enough against a very physical team. however, against a better side we would have been in trouble.

I would play him on Weds to give him game time as it is highly likely we will go into the tougher games with a weakened midfield. The injury to Nasri is not at all well timed.

  20. gazzap says:

I see Senderos has gone to Celtic on loan. he will be out of contract by the summer and so we will lose him for free anyway. Bye bye Big Phil and good luck.

  21. W.A.T.H says:

BR ur correct in saying his distribution wasn’t great but that’s also down the the movement infront of him and around him, many times players didnt make themselves available to him and he was having to play stupid passes, granted 2nd half he gave the ball away lots more and didnt keep it simple but that sums up Diaby as well beats a players takes 5 touches to many and then loses the ball…! Good learning curve for Eastmond but bit harsh to say out of his depth cos the kid did ok…!

  22. gazzap says:

I would just play a midfield of Cesc, Diaby and Rosicky on wednesday. no need to use Eastmond or even risk Denilson. I agree with the article, I cant see what Vela does wrong to warrant never starting games.

At Stoke, then I would probably use Eastmond in something like this:

    Coquelin Sol Silv Traore
    Merida Eastmond JET
    Barazite (fit?) Eduardo Vela

Play JET behind Eddie to give us that presence. would like to see something of Barazite but failing that maybe Sunu or Watt on the right.

Personally I dont think we should be risking our first 11 in that game. I know others would disagree.

  23. gazzap says:

Or of course Theo cuould be fit for Stoke, but I think he would get muscled out of a game like that.

  24. Edmond Dantes says:

    Salut tout le monde

The statistics show that Arsenal scored only 1 goal this season in the opening 15 minutes of games. Im not too concerned so long as we keep on winning and doing it in style.

I remember how Arsenal used to start games with a very high tempo and kill teams off in the first 15 minutes.

  25. gazzap says:

yeah the game we scored early in we didn’t even win. it was Burnley away.

changing the subject, I still see that lots of fans are criticising Eduardo. He seems to be scape goat of the month. But he is scoring goals, and setting them up regularly. he set both goals up yesterday. at the end of the day, if your striker is either scoring or setting up goals in every match, you cannot complain about anything else – thats what wins games.

  26. alfamilano says:

    Hi there ED.

We seem to take a pounding in the first 5 minutes of each half, then slowly start to get control. Except against Chelsea of course, and Everton where it took us about 25 minutes and a lucky goal.

I agree it’s OK if we keep playing like this.

  27. Rasputin says:

    Morning Ed and Gaz,

Dudu is slowly improving every game. The prem is a marathon, not a sprint, so I’m hoping he will peak and we have an unbeaten run to the end of the season after we get the next few games out of the way. With Song returning and Nasri, Denilson and Theo back from injury, we will be firing on all cylinders.

  28. alfamilano says:

Dudu is fine, playing his way in. 7 goals in 14 games isn’t bad.

  29. Edmond Dantes says:

3-5 points behind the leaders after the Liverpool game (10 Feb) is a strong position to be in the league at that stage. Our run-in is not as difficult as what the other title contenders would have to face. Just imagine if we top the table after the Liverpool game, then there would be no stopping us.

  30. kelsey says:

    Morning all.

I think it is a big decision time for our boss this week.I don’t see a major problem with the league game on Wednesday, but with yet more injuries he might well send out literally the reserves at Stoke.

We have a sort of conundrum. We are the highest goal scorers in the league, without a fully fit striker,so what will the boss do.

Villa, united and Chelsea and Liverpool coming up are a far different proposition to a Bolton side who have been instructed to alter their usual game plan to play more like Coyle’s Burnley. Yes we could have conceded but we didn’t,and I especially liked the way we didn’t ease off in the final ten minutes.

Rosicky was playing his fifth game in two years and eddie looked sharper, but it will be a slow process.

Merida needs to be tied down if possible, and I also get the feeling that we are in for a striker.Let’s face it,RVP was doing a great job but he is not an out ann out striker.

  31. Edmond Dantes says:

Another thing I hope is that Arsene fields a strong team in the FA Cup against Stoke. With Manure and Pool already out we have a very good chance of winning it. Our recent bogey team, Chelsea, is still left. But AW does have an incredible record in the FA Cup.

  32. gazzap says:

I think we must beat Pool and Man u, draws against villa and chelsea will be OK. that might put us 5 points behind the chavs but as you say, with an easier run in, we would be well placed.

as for the FA cup I think wenger has to put out weakened teams. even if we get past stoke, the next round in 3 days before we travel to Porto. wenger will want a fresh team for Porto. The FA cup is the lowest priority I am afraid.

  33. Edmond Dantes says:

All I’m saying is that come the end of the season we need to lift a trophy. Going 5 years without a trophy is too long for a big club like Arsenal. Our best chance of success is in the FA Cup.
In any case, I do think Wenger will put out a weakened team against Stoke.

  34. Rasputin says:

Sadly, I think Arsene may have to put out a weakened side against Stoke – the injuries to Nasri and Ramsey have left him no alternative. I’d like to win the FA cup but I do believe we have as good a chance to win the prem if we can get through these next 4 games (not Bolton) with at least 7 points. There is always an element of risk in cup competitions whereas the league is always won by the most consistent side.

  35. Rasputin says:

    Morning kelsey,

Do you have any thoughts on who the ‘mystery striker’ will be?

  36. Edmond Dantes says:

If you had to choose between the Champions’ League and the Premier League what would you want more?
I rate them as being of equal importance.
However, having said that, I would prefer Arsenal to win the league.

  37. Rasputin says:

That’s a tough one Edmond. My heart says prem but my head says CL. It’s one of the things that is always thrown at us – “you’re not truly a great club unless you’ve won the CL” – so actually if I had to choose I’d go for 2nd in the prem and walk it by 10 points next season and the CL this ear beating barca in the final 😛

  38. kelsey says:

Enlighten me rasp about “the mystery striker” I haven’t been listening.

If it is true, it has to be someone currently playing in the Pl, as time does not allow us a period for someone to settle in.

  39. Rasputin says:

Since I am an advocate of the ITYS tab at the top, I cannot mention the fact that I campaigned to get Cesc made captain in place of Gallas 😳 Yesterday he gave a true captain’s performance. He ‘outgerrarded’ Gerrard in the way he drove the team and this comment of his in the press conference is priceless……

“I’m sure there will be teams that believe the same, that they can win the league, but there will be no team that wants to win it more than us, that’s for sure”

  40. Rasputin says:

No kelsey, it came from you. You said in your comment earlier that “I also get the feeling that we are in for a striker” – just wondered if you had anyone in mind?….

  41. Edmond Dantes says:

Wenger says he’s looking for a striker that’s better than what he has at present. If that’s the case, he will probably have to spend big and we all know he rarely spends big. So then maybe he might have to unearth some hidden gem nobody’s ever heard of. That would be trademark Arsene, no doubt.
Personally, I hope we buy Edin Dzeko although it would appear unlikely given the huge price-tag.

  42. kelsey says:

I have already outlined this sequence of matches against the other top four, and I am nervous,in fact every time we play I feel we may concede, and only really feel confident when we are 3 goals to the good, though I admit that seems ludicrous.

Something is missing, not a lot and the way the season is panning out we have a real chance to win the title(my preference) but with constant injuries it is asking a lot for the likes of Eastmond and Traore to step in,as they just don’t have the quality as yet.

  43. with regards to dudu, a striker in this arsenal system is never going to score 30 goals in a season.. as he is expected to be the link man in the cavalry charge from midfield

this system is all about accomodating the attacking central midfielders we have… cesc to be fair.

if our CF scores 12 goals in a season, yet we score 100 league goals and he assists another 15.. and we win the title

    that will do me.

  44. kelsey says:

it was the way wenger answered the question in his post match interview that led me to believe something is planned or has already been earmarked. just a hunch.

  45. Rasputin says:

I see kelsey. For the life of me, I cannot think of one ‘available’ candidate that ticks enough of the boxes … which is pretty much what Arsene has said … so I’m not optimistic.

  46. gazzap says:

I think we need a big man up top but I would not move Eduardo out of CF. I would bring in a wide man on the right to be a target – to play the Bendtner role. Bendtner is not far away and if he can stay fit, he is exactly what we need. I can see why wenger is stalling. but everytime bendtner has a relapse it pushes wenger nearer to a purchase.

Rosicky can play in midfield with Cesc, and when he comes back song – before then Diaby. That would be my preferred team.

  47. alfamilano says:

SH, I’m with you. The more of a threat he is the more he draws the defence, which creates chances for others. But aside from that, Dudu doesn’t need to score 25 a season.

I think what we all think we are missing is the player who can get a goal when Wengerball isn’t working for us. That player doesn’t need to get 25 goals either but they need to be able to score the Drogba type goals when it’s 0-0 and 15 minutes to go.

  48. Rasputin says:

Alfamilo ….. Huntelaar may have been the type of player you describe, its hard to tell as he’s not really had a chance at Milan

  49. Mustang says:

you took the words out of my mouth (or keyboard). Scoring freely with the 4.:3:3 formation at the moment without out and out striker is fine but when we meet teams well suited to deal with that formation we don’t have other options. When I see Sagna racing down the flanks I just think to myself “there is no point crossing the ball cos we don’t have a striker that is an aerial threath…” I would like a Drogba clone, without the drama….

  50. gazzap says:

Unless we are going to get a better ‘big striker’ than Bendtner then there is no point in wenger buying anyone (Kenwyne Jones, Dzeko, Chamakh types) Buying another striker like Eduardo, such as Huntelaar would be a waste of time. why do we need more strikers like this?
For what Eduardo does, he is one of the best in the business. what he needs is someone near him to win a few physical battles. to win the ball, hold the ball up and bring players like Eddie into the game (dare I say a Heskey type player?, though I dont rate Heskey that highly).
when it comes to getting the ball down and making something happen in the box, he is as good as we will ever need.

  51. Mustang says:

…….example: we dominated against Manure and lost, we struggled against organisation of West Ham, Sunderland, Burnley and I can’t help thinking we could have easily been 5 points clear at the top if he had added a striker to the ranks. Then again, maybe I am asking for too much….

  52. alfamilano says:

gazzap, IMHO I don’t think we need someone to hold up play, because when we break, we have enough fast accurate players to do it in numbers. We either score quickly on the break or lose it (sometime in the last 5 minutes then we are all running back to defend again 😦 ). Rasp, maybe Huntelaar would be right, I’m not sure.

Mustang, the Manure game was the best example of all. It could be Supernick (are we going to sing that again?). Remember that match at the Emirates a couple of seasons ago when he came on as sub and scored from a corner with his first touch (a header)?

  53. gazzap says:

yes but passes were bouncing off Arshavin and Eduardo because they are under too much physical pressure from defenders much bigger than them. If you ping a ball up to Bendtner he will win it and the move can carry on.
clearly there is the added bonus of headed goals as well, and when clichy and sagna sling one in at least we’ll have someone there to win the ball or even just create confusion in the box. at the moment the keeper is either unchallenged or the defenders head 20 yards away.

  54. avenell says:

    Hi Roadsters..
Good debate today, I would be happy with Nikki, it’s a real shame he never had a month before the window to show what he could do to help Dudu outin the 4-3-3.

Although Bendtner is a big guy, he doesn’t play like a big striker and his footwork and holding the ball are far better than Ade’s and suit Eduardo so he can concentrate on what he does best.

  55. alfamilano says:

speak to me!! speak to me!!! Don’t let it end like this!!!!

  56. alfamilano says:

gazzap, fair points about the physical pressure, we agree I think.

  57. avenell says:

Alfa. I wasn’t trying to be hard on Eastmond in the post, I was very impressed. Someone said during the game yesterday he was out of his depth. I didn’t really agree that’s why I said slightly, as it is only natural for a 19yr old making his premiership debut.

  58. rico says:

    Afternoon peeps

Have we signed a striker yet 😉

Spuds put in an offer for Ben Foster, wonder how that makes Gomes feel 😉

    Manure have rejected it though…

  59. avenell says:

Sorry alfa.. My keyboard is knnackered daddies sauce got spilt and it didn’t like my carb cleaner to clean it..

I need to go to PC world and see if I can still buy them with a lead..

  60. rico says:

I think most were very impressed with him but it was a tough game for him..

  61. avenell says:

What about Senderos heading to Celtic or Rangers?

I thought a mighty Italian club were calling..

  62. avenell says:

Thanks for putting the post on rico..

  63. rico says:

No worries ave, pressing the publish button is the eay bit 😉

I heard Celtic this morning ave, he could do well abroad, in Scotland 😉 😉

  64. alfamilano says:

No problem Ave 😆 . All I saw was ‘Alfa I ‘ then nothing. I thought you’d disappeared into cyberspace, never to return.

I know a bit about keyboards. Trust me, Daddies Sauce is a lot better for them than Coke (I mean Cola).

  65. avenell says:

We have no London for a week or so rico.. I don’t know if he said on here.. so It’s you and me I’m afraid..

  66. rico says:

    alfa, coke, 😆

  67. rico says:

    No JJ either ? 😦

  68. avenell says:

The space bar button was stuck so I yanked it out and bent the spring, you have to jump on it two footed from a trampet now.. lol..

  69. rico says:

Essien is out of ACON with a knee injury!!

  70. avenell says:

I don’t know rico.. I asked him on saturaday on here, but he never came back on.. 😦

  71. avenell says:

He could be back for the later stages if Ghana get through.. 2 weeks they reckon..

  72. rico says:

Breking news on Sky rules him out for good ave, the injury is far worse than first believed..

  73. avenell says:

Your making me cry rico.. 😉

  74. rico says:

Santa Cruz is also out long term…

  75. rico says:

Tears of laughter I hope ave 😉

  76. W.A.T.H says:

Lets hope Cameroon get stuffed in their next game and Song comes back soon………! I hope AW gives Coquelin a run on wednesday in place of Eastmond so we can compare the two and of course least Coq has Cesc in there to help out !! Experience for them both then…! Just a thought.

  77. alfamilano says:

I din’t want anyone to think that Ave had sneezed on his keyboard 😆

  78. rico says:

Hi wath – that is a good plan, he is a little terrier and it would be good to compare them against the same opposition..

    alfa – yuck!! 😉

  79. avenell says:

Anyone see that the taxpayer propped up Northern Rock are wasting £10mill sponsoring Newcastle again?

  80. Mustang says:

What about JET? He was on the bench at Reebok, what is his best position?

  81. Rasputin says:

    Hi ave,

That’s a relief about London – I thought I’d pee’d him off 🙄 I can look forward to locking literary horns with him again in a week or so then?

  82. avenell says:

You won’t get rid of him that easy Rasp.. 😉

I am sure I have seen JET play everywhere from right back, centre half and right midfield when Setanta was alive..

Was that his first go up front against the Spammers last week?

  83. Rasputin says:

Do folks think that players who’s team get knocked out of the ACN are going to come rushing back to help out in the prem?… Surely past experience has shown that they tend to hang around and have a big party (obviously with the exception of Togo). I remember Kanu went missing with Babyaro – something about spending time with the local ladies!

  84. Rasputin says:

…..”Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida will miss the re-match with Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates on Wednesday night after injuring his ankle in his 20 minute goal scoring cameo at the Reebok yesterday.

“Unfortunately we have lost Fran Merida who got kicked straight away when he came on [at Bolton] and his ankle was very bad today. But that is all we should lose from Sunday,” Arsene Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.

There was positive news on the injury front for the Gunners with the news that both Theo Walcott and Denilson will be available for the Bolton clash.”

  85. rico says:

JET plays midfield/striker, he says he is a bit of a Dennis Bergkamp, like to play in the hole – just hope its never a deep one 😉

  86. rico says:

Rasp, you have stolen my news for the post tomorrow 😦

  87. rico says:

SH, they shouldn’t be allowed, its the clubs who pay their wages, they should get back and help…

Bet Song comes back at the first opportunity, Eboue however 😉

  88. Rasputin says:

    Sorry rico 😳

It just goes to show that their agenda was to hurt/mame in the knowledge that any of our players they could remove from the re-match would improve their chances ….

A new word …. “Allardycism” = the intention to injure because the opposition is superior!!

  89. nahh eboue will be back, he loves the club.. of that there is no doubt.

he has never been a party boy, the man is a proper bible basher.

  90. gazzap says:

I see Bendtner is back for Villa, probably. still think we need another Nik B type players. Yes OK we have RVP but we are trying to win the title here. If Nik B gets injured again, which lets face it, is almost a certainty, we will back in the same situation.

Trouble is, when everyone is fit we have enough strikers, so it is a short term solution and I dont think wenger does short term.

  91. i bring to your attention, sol campbell…. are you saying wenger got him for “the long term”?

  92. Rasputin says:

That’s the crux of the problem gazzap. A short term fix for anyone of quality means ‘on loan till the end of the season’ and would suit any striker who wants regular games to get into a world cup squad ….. RVN anyone? 🙄

  93. Rasputin says:

I do hope Arsene sees Campbell as his new 3rd choice CB (if fit) rather than 4th behind Tweety

  94. alfamilano says:

If Nik is back then no striker until the summer I think.

He’ll be joining the champions 😉

  95. gazzap says:

cant compare sol campbell to a top striker. wenger wont by a top striker for 6 months! If you consider the equivalent of campbell in strikers, then it would be some 35 year old has been.

Rasputin got it right, the only way of getting a quality striker for just 6 months is a loan deal. but who loans quality strikers? RVN is a non option, due to him being a complete… Oh I cant say that word on here!

anyone heard about Maxime Gonalons? being linked with us for the summer as a DM. he has only played 8 times for Lyon and is 20.

  96. rico says:

alfa – – did you mean to miss ‘hip’ of one of your words 😉 😉

    SH – to who’s attention?

  97. rico says:

gazzap 😆 :lol re RVN, I am not so keen on the man either ….

    Rasp, please not him 😦

  98. alfamilano says:

    Rico, 😆
to be fair I didn’t champions of what. Don’t want to completely jinx it.

  99. rico, read the comment prior to mine… it will help you make more sense 😉

  100. Rasputin says:

No, not for me either rico .. as I said before, if only we could get TH back till the end of the season – it would be an enormous boost for all concerned….

  101. gazzap – would a saha deal be totally out of the question?

he bought davor suker when we lost anelka, so has done it before.

  102. rasp – TH14 is playing very poorly since the handball nonesense.. he looks lost.

  103. i think TH14 moves to the MLS after the world cup… he has been left out to dry by the europe since the ireland game.

a change of continent will do him a lot of good.

  104. Rasputin says:

I’m aware of that SH – it could be the boost he needs too …. there’s not much risk involved and defenders in this country would still be scared stiff of him from their experiences in the past

  105. alfamilano says:

Apparently RVN reads this blog so watch what you are saying…
    {img src=”http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x76/unpocodemucho/gnu.jpg” }

  106. peachesgooner says:

    Hi all

Did I hear Thierry Henry mentioned …… 😆

Arsene is being really slow on this one, rasp doesn’t agree with me but I definitely saw a twickle in his eye yesterday after the game which to me was a clear indication that hes buying a striker…..or getting an aged one on loan….. 😀

  107. Rasputin says:

I think the demonising of TH is disgraceful … There must be 100 handballs in top flight football across europe every week – it was just the occassion and press over-hype that did the damage.

  108. alfamilano says:

Apparently RVN reads this blog so watch what you are saying…

  109. Rasputin says:

    OK peaches … who then?

  110. peachesgooner says:

Actually it wouldn’t matter if all Thierry/someone did was stand between the centre backs and keep the ball long enough for Cesc/Dudu/Diaby/Rossicky/Nasri/Arshavin/Vela/Ramsey or anyone to run onto a perfectly weighted pass – he doesn’t have to anything else – he doesn’t have to run or chase back…….just be a lump 😛

  111. alfamilano says:

    Peaches. TH… a LUMP?

  112. Rasputin says:

I have one question for RVN …. “why the long face?”

  113. peachesgooner says:

    It can’t be me – I’m not tall enough……. 😆

  114. Rasputin says:

You could go piggy back on AA peaches….

  115. peachesgooner says:

alfa – of course not, but realistically we have creativity oozing out of so many players that we don’t need the Thierry of old.

  116. rico says:

SH, I just read, maybe Sol is long term, not necessarily as a player..

Re TH, in a flash I would love us to get him back even if it is only until the summer, he didn’t poop on us, he moved on for the sake of his personal life.

The way he has been treated is a disgrace, let him come on home…

    Hi peaches

  117. peachesgooner says:

    rasp 😆

  118. rico says:

SH, AW could be TH’s saviour….

  119. peachesgooner says:

Hi rico – how are you 🙂

  120. alfamilano says:

Rasp, I wish I’d made that joke instead of trying to be creative and post a picture 😀

Peaches, only teasing. Can you imagine the conversation:

Arsene: Thierry, I always admired your desirrre, your passion, the creativite, the qualite…
…..but basically we just need you to stand there like a lump and pass the to kids

    Thierry: &%$%!!&

  121. peachesgooner says:

    alfa – good call 🙂

I’m sure he’d jump at the chance 😳

  122. peachesgooner says:

😳 I forgot Theo in my list 😳

  123. rico says:

Good thanks peaches, have you seen one of our pups on Le Grove in the pictures?? 🙂

How’s you and the poorly foot?

  124. Rasputin says:

With the AA/peaches combo, they’d have 2 good feet between them …..

  125. alfamilano says:

Peaches, after DB, TH is my all time favourite player and I’d love him to come back but I think it would be so hard for him and the team, for him not to be the focal point.

  126. peachesgooner says:

I’m told I’m still limping but I’m working very hard on trying to walk without limping 😉

Since being told about rolling my foot over a cold drinks can in addition to some excellent wooden massage balls there has definitely been some improvement, so I’m really pleased 🙂

  127. peachesgooner says:

alfa – I agree but needs must – do you think the boss has even thought of it? I could pop a note through his door 😉

Gonna have a look at the puppy rico 😛

  128. peachesgooner says:

rasp – I’m not sure even with AA on my back we’d be tall enough – that Zat Knight is a monster 😦

  129. alfamilano says:

Peaches I reckon that AW has only thought about it twice over the last couple of years.

Twice a day that is 😀

  130. peachesgooner says:

I was so heartbroken when he left – I couldn’t speak for days – I was upset for him aswell as us – mind you he had £10m to keep himself happy as ave will no doubt remind us any minute now 🙂

    Hi ave 😉

  131. i would not be against TH14 coming home… but.. i dont see any real value in him

would much prefer saha though from the over 30s on offer.

  132. saha would jump at the chance to play in a title chasing side that can also offer him knockout stages champs league footy.

  133. London says:

    Evening Roadsters

I can’t believe my luck: my coach arrived in the Alps 5 minutes before the game started, I rushed off and almost grabbed one of the reps by the neck and demanded to know where the nearest bar with Sky sports was; he timidly pointed to across the road. I marched over there got myself a beer sat infront of the telly to see the kick off. And as if things couldn’t get any better we won. Isn’t it great to be an Arsenal supporter?

Good write up Ave, its been so long I forgot how good you were.

Merida: came on and coninued as intimdated as he was in his last outing against Burnley, that was until he scored which, of course, changed everything. Then he went back to playing with the level of confidence he shows when he plays in the CC which is a lot.

Ave, if you see the Essien injury you will see there was no faking there, he could be out for months…..shame that.

Lastly, Rasp my skin is thicker than that. Lol

  134. peachesgooner says:

Hi London – haven’t you had enough snow 🙂

Merida picked up an ankle injury so he won’t be playing on wednesday – Nasri and Ramsey out for 3 weeks……

Essien out for months – what fun 😳

  135. alfamilano says:

Hi London. You decided to go somewhere warmer for a break? :). Hope you’ve passed on your ticket for the Bolton match.

  136. avenell says:

Lee “the Eagle” London.. 😉 Cheers..

  137. avenell says:

London on the Piste again… nothing new there then.. 🙂

  138. London says:

    Hi All

Alfa, Chaf has got the ticket. I was hoping to see it here but that Dipper game will be every where.

  139. alfamilano says:

No problem, hope you get it on the Internet somehow.

  140. London says:

It’s good that Theo and Denilson are back. The only way the two of them are going to win us over is by playing: both of them have got the potential to have us doing u-turns of Song proportions.

  141. London says:

I must admit when I booked this holiday I had forgotten about the rearranged home game. I thought I was just going to miss the two aways which I could record and watch later. I hate missing games, this will only be my second in four years, I say four year because that’s as far back as my memory goes, it’s all a blur before that.

  142. rico says:

    Guys and Gals,

I’m off for today, hopefully more time tomorrow 😦

    Be safe all

    Nighty Night

    Enjoy your break London..
