Lets not argue over a couple of inches…..

On a day after the night before, when someone else should have been firing on all cylinders typing away a match report, having a gloat about being second in the Premier League, sadly you have got me again. The snow beat the fixture at the last moment and I guess we will just have to wait; maybe Saturday will be our day instead?

Wouldn’t it be great if the Chavs dropped points at home, we dispatch Everton with ease and second spot becomes ours after the Mancs get beaten!

The other day I wrote a piece about Henri Lansbury, it was about his time with us, his time on loan with both Scunthorpe and Watford and his dreadful time coping with glandular fever – how he used to play computer games but fall asleep during the game.. How he tried to train but couldn’t because he was exhausted and was left to watch feeling frustrated and useless….

Sadly, what I had forgotten is that I deleted the document from my computer, so this is all a bit hit and miss…

But then our new born Henri went from a youth cup game against Brentford, when he has to take a penalty at fifteen years old during a penalty shootout, he approached his run up only to see a stupid spectator walk behind the goal to get a better look!

He blasted his penalty wide, the youth side went out of the competition – and that stupid spectator was indeed Arsene Wenger!

But we all know that changed and now the lad has got through his illness, he bulked up whilst on loan at Scunthorpe, and now he is strutting his stuff at Watford – a club who does nothing but rave about him. He is there until the end of the season on loan, but thankfully he has just tied himself down with us – and that has to be good…. At least he has a bit of silverware thanks to win against The Dippers last year 🙂

Today there is still much speculation about the future of Fran Merida, has he signed for Atletico Madrid or not, will we get compensation for his sale, or not – who knows, and now I think to myself who cares! Then I read his agent says he is only talking to Arsenal – Diaz, do yourself a favour, shut the heck up – you engineered his move, you started to tell the world how unhappy he was, you said he was in love with Atletico Madrid!

I hate agents!!

I have always hoped he would stay with us, but I guess in a team full of talented young midfielders, he feels that he needs to move on to play – but in all honesty, he probably has less chance of becoming a better player in Spain – otherwise, why would he have moved from there in the first place??

But hey ho – we have Henri Lansbury, and English born and bred midfielder who shows great promise, and he’s ours until the day we choose to sell him – watch Watford, he’s not bad! 😉

Suppose what I am trying to say is just what probably most of us feel – we have talent in our youth in abundance, especially in the midfield area. We can afford to lose one or two who can’t be bothered to wait and fight for their place and to be fair, at his young age if he hasn’t got the fight in him now, will he ever have?

Remember that night when Alex scored THAT header to knock us out of the Champions League? Well, that same man reckons we are the Chavs biggest threat to the Premiership Crown – Ha Ha Alex, you bet your bottom dollar we are (we can say that now Stan is on board) we are going to run your butts down until the end!

Not a lot of other news around really, afc.com haven’t said when the Bolton fixture will be, no doubt though the FA will cram in to a week when we really don’t need it. They will do anything to hinder our chances!

The paps:-

Lacine Traore, a 6’ 6” Ivory Coast striker who plays for CRF Cluj in the Romanian League is linked with us and the Carlton Cole rumours are gathering pace.

Traore is honestly only 6′ 6″ dispite reports that he is 6′ 8″, but who wants to fight over an extra two inches 😉

But the leggy lad has a good left foot, a good right foot, can use his head and can multi task! The latter worries me, our old boss will put him at CH with his height!!

If he signs, he would be something very different for us, but this spin could just be that, spin. I’m going to wait for afc.com to announce any news this window 😉

There is also talk about a player from Real Madrid swapping with Cesc!! I shall not bother naming him because it just isn’t going to happen!

Blackpool want JET on loan for the rest of the season which would be good for him, I can’t see him getting into the side this year, so best he gets on and plays football.

That’s it, short and sweet – Congratulations to Cesc Fabregas, he has just been awarded has EA SPORTS Player of the Month award for the third month in a row – Well done that man!

Roll on Saturday, and let’s hope the thaw has set in by then!

rico………. you have indeed got inches on the brain….! yeh yeh I know thats not where u want em…….. 🙂

Nice post all the same….! Stay warm…!

  3. rico says:

Morning WATH, thanks – Love you avatar, both yours?

  4. W.A.T.H says:

Oh and how rude of me…. Morning Rico… 😉

  5. W.A.T.H says:

I lost the one in Jan….. but the big fella still around…! they mine yeh…!

  6. rico says:

Sky say today that AW is 50/50 on making a signing!

Also, Bolton Fans are furious that the game was off yesterday, most had got to the stadium before the decision was made…

Hope it was the police who made the decision and not the club

  7. rico says:

    Sorry to hear that 😦

  8. W.A.T.H says:

Of course it was the OB they ruin all the fun… they obviously didnt fancy getting cold hands n feet…! I did read AFC said it was a decision not based on just footballing reasons but transport and safety.

  9. W.A.T.H says:

I wasn’t a happy bunny……! she was only 5….! Long story but def not footie related 😉

  10. rico says:

    Moving on then 😉

Good, we don’t need the club taking the flack

  11. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

Thanks for today’s edition of ‘rico’s diaries’ 😛

I’ve just watched the youtube clips of Traore that London put up last night …. he’s a beast! he makes Essien look puny … if anyone thinks we need a big strong guy up front, look no further….

Obviously it probably won’t happen and if we did buy him it would take from now to the end of the season for him to adapt to the prem …. but he is a fantastic prospect …. no defender in the prem would relish playing aginst him.

  12. rico says:

    Morning Rasp – thanks 😉

He is a monster alright, my toes and fingers will be crossed we get him…

The ACON is moving I think, to the summer so the fact he is from the IC won’t be a problem..

  13. rico says:

Paddy is at Citeh having a medical, he should bolster their midfield – not 😉

  14. W.A.T.H says:

Sorry Rico woz on the dog n bone…! Mornin Rasp…! Paddy at citeh is quite a sad moment really just shows even Paddy just after the dosh…! As for this Traore if they liken him to barndoor 150% don’t want him….. lol…!

  15. rico says:

WATH, don’t worry, its only in relation to his height 😉

I really don’t understand why else he would move there other than for money reasons, good luck to him I say, he’s really going to need it!

  16. rico says:

4M Euros is what Traore would cost us, there is more to this me thinks …. That is Ebenezers kind of price and the boy wants to come to us…

Will he be at the Emirates on Saturday 😉

  17. W.A.T.H says:

Maybe he can get to the Emirates for saturday and help clear the snow…!

  18. rico says:

    Bit quiet today 😦

  19. W.A.T.H says:

Pc’s are frozen along with fingers….!

  20. rico says:

And wickets are falling in SA 😦

  21. W.A.T.H says:

Wickets falling what a surprise, said we wouldnt make lunchtime…! bloody useless…!

  22. Terry says:

All this talk of strikers is very interesting and we do need someone but more importantly we need centre back cover – desperately. Just think – injury to Gallas or Vermaelen (or, horror of horrors, both – as has happened up front)and we are in very, very serious trouble. Yet I have not seen any news or even gossip in this area. I’ve been Arsenal fan for 53 years and revere Wenger but he does seem to have his blind spots.

  23. London says:

    Morning Rico

It’s a bits and bobs sale at Rico’s one stop shop today but I do enjoy reading them.

I know what you mean about not allowing yourself to get too caught up in these transfer rumours, I try and be equally cautious; although, in this case, I have to admit to getting a bit more excited than usual. This Nigerian Traore has all the hall marks of a Wenger signing: cheap, cheap and cheap; in fact, if it turns out that he speaks French I am going to start working on basis that it’s a done deal.

  24. London says:

    Morning Terry

Isn’t the signing of Sol Campbel as back up in the case of Senderos leaving a rumour?

  25. W.A.T.H says:

Mornin London just ignore me why not….. 😛

Your right Terry, an injury to either Tomoas or Willy G and we seriously in the crapper…!. Doesn’t bare thinking about actually.

  26. London says:

    Morning Herdman 😉

  27. London says:

The reality as I see it is that if any of the big four lost two of their key men they would be in the crapper. Terry and Carvallio…crapper. Rooney and Bebatov….finish out of the top four.

  28. rico says:

    Morning Terry & London

I think it is all our fears should something happen to Gallas or TV, I just live in hope that either Senderos can step up, or, which I really hope, as it is so quiet about defenders, that AW is sorting this potentially horrific problem out..

I am with you London re Traore, all the right boxes are ticked from a financial aspect.. 😉

  29. rico says:

And its only Day 7 folks 😉

  30. London says:

Has there been a single signing this window?

  31. rico says:

    Only Paddy London

  32. W.A.T.H says:

My name refers to “where are the Hounds” London… 🙂

Think Senderos ain’t gonna cut the mustard rico…… which leaves us peanut head……….! Shock horror….!

  33. W.A.T.H says:

Brandon Donovan to Everton on loan as well rico…

  34. rico says:

Oh yes, and Becks to Meeeeeeeeelan 😉

  35. rico says:

    Is he Jason’s brother 😉

  36. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters..

Nice post rico..not a lot to write about..

And Gary Inbred is jacking it in at the end of the season..

  37. oskar says:

Goran Pandev from Lazio to Inter Milan. Would have been a good piece of business for us

  38. W.A.T.H says:

We’ll find out if he sings after he has scored rico 😉 Mornin Av….

  39. avenell says:

They were saying on the radio this morning that Bolton were pissed that the game got called off yesterday so late..

Because 300 supporters were making there way down to London..
    300 hahaha..

Even the Bolton supporters spokesperson didn’t bother trying to go..

  40. alfamilano says:

Morning all. Rico, thanks for reminding us about Lansbury.

Traore looks good. Although Sky say ‘The 19-year-old, who is currently on the books of Romanian outfit CFR Cluj, has been likened to former Emirates Stadium forward Emmanuel Adebayor’. :O

Will he run out of puff by November? Jump in such a way that his head ends up closer to the ground than when he stood still? Knock the ball 10 yards away every time it’s passed to him? Track back slower than Willi G? Become the highest paid player in the Premiership?

Of course not. For me he looks a better bet than Carlton Cole.

Can you imagine the reception Patrick is going to get when he comes to the Emirates with Citeh? It will be like when Bobby P. came – more chanting for him than any of the Arsenal players, and quite right to.

  41. avenell says:

    Morning WATH.. even colder today..

any chance of the game being on this saturday?

I’ll go and get a weather forcast..

In inches” what is it with size?

  42. W.A.T.H says:

Not so sure abt the chanting for Paddy alfa… a respectful applause but nothing more when he wears that light blu poop….! and morning to you 🙂

  43. W.A.T.H says:

U know what ladies r like with size Av………. it’s a mind thing….! lol………. awaits rico’s reply with baited breath

  44. avenell says:

Not much snow forecast before saturday.. should be okay for the weekend..

    Morning Alfa..

  45. W.A.T.H says:

I was considering a quick swim to cool down Av…….. 🙂

  46. W.A.T.H says:

Isn’t it going to be minus 3 tonight though and minus 6 2moro night Av, that will cause huge problems if its that cold and all this snow turns to ice !

  47. London says:

    Respectful applause….tops

    Morning Alfa

  48. avenell says:

I think the game got called off because off the steps to the ground getting cleared and then a fresh dollop of snow fell on them at 3 ish..
Once that’s cleared and the underground heating for the pitch cuts in we should be okay.. but who knows these days.

  49. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Nice round-up rico – an other Traore on the cards he looks massive 🙂

I think the internal steps would have caused more of a problem last night – we would have made them very wet on the way in and then freezing temps would have made them treacherous on the way out.

  50. peachesgooner says:

No snow forcast for N5 until sunday now so Saturdays game should be able to go ahead 🙂

  51. W.A.T.H says:

Mornin Peaches…! Don’t think the snow the problem its gonna be the ice thats stilla round…?!?!?!?

  52. rico says:

I’m back after a lovely drive out in the snow, there are some idiots about…

WATH, you are getting more and more naughty as the days go by 🙂

Hi ave and peaches – good news re the forecast for Saturday – we are predicted another few cms here in sunny Berkshire 😉

  53. W.A.T.H says:

suppose u need to thaw out now rico….?

  54. rico says:

Morning alfa, how rude of me 😦

WATH, its really sunny here and in the car its warm so no thawing for me 😉 Poor chickens though are a bit stir crazy being shut in 😦

  55. rico says:

Moritz Volz is available on a free, he has been injured, and can play any defensive position….

Arsene, I am surprised you are not thinking of bringing him back 😉 😉

  56. W.A.T.H says:

Its so sunny am thinking of having a quick swim…..! Nothing wrong with frozen chicken rico 😉

  57. rico says:

    Grrrrrrr WATH!!

You mind the pool isn’t frozen 😉 or anything else…. 😳

  58. rico says:

Do I dare say that England are hanging on, its near tea and still five wickets in tact…

  59. W.A.T.H says:

Will you stop it with the cricket you will jinx em….. my jacuzzi is nice n warm for a quick swim….! and who said it was me gettin norti…!! 😛

  60. rico says:

Ha ha, very nice too, a jacuzzi eh, get you 😉 😉

Have to pop off again for a while, stuff to get done

  61. W.A.T.H says:

I’m off too, chat lata stay warm n n don’t shrink in the snow…!

  62. rico says:

You stay safe and warm too WATH 🙂

  63. Danish Gooner says:

Marca and other Spanish newspapers are talking 60 million quid for Cesc, can we honestly turn that down even if we fail to win anything this year.

  64. avenell says:

If we sold Cesc, what sort of message would that send out to the fans and other players about our ambition to win the PL or the CL?.

  65. avenell says:

Hi Danish Gooner by the way.. 🙂

  66. alfamilano says:

    Danish Gooner, hi there.

The whole reason for us being a financially responsible club is so that we can turn down £60m or £100m for Cesc. So yes, we would turn any amount down.

Be a different story if he wanted to go.

  67. peachesgooner says:

Very sensible answer chaps – when Cesc wants to go then we’ll talk money until then hands off

  68. rico says:

I’m with you alfa, no way jose, the man loves us and we won’t sell him for any price!

  69. rico says:

    spooky peaches 😉

  70. peachesgooner says:

    spooky indeed 🙂

  71. rico says:

How is your business with this dreadful weather peaches ..

  72. alfamilano says:

I heard a football agent talking on the radio about the transfer market. He reckons that it’s changed recently. There are a few obvious clubs with cash and the rest are basically doing buy now pay later deals. So if you have real cash to spend (which we do) then you are in a strong position, even if other clubs are apparently talking a good game. Obviously it means that a Chelsea, Real, Man City can just get whoever they want right now. It can’t go on like this though. Pretty soon I think the whole transfer market will collapse, along with a fair few clubs, and our old-fashioned financial common sense will look pretty smart.

  73. rico says:

Woop Woop – the boys held on for a draw 🙂

  74. rico says:

‘old fashioned common sense’ alfa – you mean Arsenal 🙂

  75. alfamilano says:

    Rico – exactly.

I hope that Kroenke and Usmanov don’t rock the boat too much.

  76. rico says:

alfa – spot on, may the ownership battle be kept smooth and very much behind the scenes, maybe the best thing for us is that it stays the same until the summer…

  77. Rasputin says:

    Evening Roadsters,

Le Boss has been quoted as wanting to get any purchases over and done with early in the transfer window. The statement suggesting that the decision to sign a striker rests on Nik’s fitness doesn’t make any sense because to be an instant shoe-in they have to be in the prem already and the only player we’ve been linked with is CC who is injured and probably wouldn’t return before NB. Any player from abroad will take weeks/months to adjust to the premiership. I know rico said sonmething similar so I’m just agreeing 😉

I’d like to see BigBoy Traore in the red and white … he’s nothing like Ade as far as I can see, much more like a more attacking Essien with a couple extra ‘rico inches’

  78. rico says:

    Evening Rasp

    Great result in SA 🙂

Arsene talks out of his bott, I reckon the Traore rumour has more to it than we think, big, strong, african, cheap as chips – mme 🙂 You agreeing with me my friend, have a word with ave will you 😉 😉

Wish I had never mentioned inches, I should have gone straight to the metric version – metres 🙂 🙂

  79. rico says:

Sorry for the delay Rasp, was trying to write something for the morning… I think the headline will be a hit, its just the rest that is poop 😦

  80. rico says:

All quiet here so catch you tomorrow

    Nighty night all

  81. PDT says:

Paddy, Paddy, Paddy, what hath thou wrought?

    I feel betrayed!

  82. Rasputin says:

    Hi PDT,

I find it an extraordinary move. If PV wanted first team exposure to stand a chance of getting in the French WC squad, he must have some kind of assurance from Mancini that he will get 1st team football….. and at 33, having lost pace and athleticism I can’t see it happening. Maybe he plans to play him as a CB?

  83. kelsey says:

    Morning all.

Well the headline in the Sun is “Major Op for Fabregas”
qhich of course is so typical of the british media.A misleading headline as Real Madrid want to buy Cesc in the Summer as apparently do Barcelona, and old Pepe has said he will not renew his contract as manager unless Barca buy him.

must be the freezing conditions in England and the journalists have no actual football to write about, and it’s let unsettle Arsenal day in the media yet again.

Alkso reported in te Star is that Sol campbell may rejoin us if Senderos leaves.Surely How good a player Sol was, he has lost his pace this isn’t notts county and it would be really interesting to know what is really going on with Senderos,as apparently neither AW or anyone else wants him.

  84. kelsey says:

I fear more cancellations this weekend as the weather seems to be getting worse, which of course will lead to a major fixture pile up.UK a country that once had an Empire is slowly running out of grit. 😉

  85. London says:

    Morning Kelsey

If it doesn’t snow before Saturday the game will definitely go ahead, in fact it looks as though the sun in about to come out.

And this brought an ironic smile to my face.

“it’s let unsettle Arsenal day in the media yet again.”

  86. rico says:

Morning all, new post is up
