Top of The Crocks Tomas, what a waste of money!!.. Or is it??

As far as injury lists go, he has been at the top longer than Frankie Laine was in the pop charts in 1953!

Yesterday Arsenal announced the news that Tomas Rosicky had signed a new two year contract!

Tomas said he is thrilled and he needs to repay the faith our club has shown him during the last ten years whilst he has been sat in company of a Lewin!

Yes Tomas you do need to give something back!

Rosicky joined us in 2006 from a club I can’t spell so I won’t bother trying and in his 76 appearances he has scored 14 goals. Not brilliant, but ok….

I remember when Sky Sports announced that he had left the Czech camp to fly to London to sign for us, I was so excited and to be fair he didn’t disappoint, did he??

But for the last two seasons he has been absent through injury, and now we have just given him a contract for the very same period of time he has been missing, two seasons…!

Commenting on his new deal, Tomas said: “I am so pleased to have signed a new contract with Arsenal. The last two seasons haven’t been easy for me because of injuries but I feel it speaks volumes about the Club’s belief in me for this to be signed, and I truly believe I have a lot left to offer the Club, my team-mates and all the supporters. It’s felt like home since I arrived here four years ago and I believe we’re on the verge of achieving something special together. I’m looking forward to the coming months and hope that together, we are all celebrating at the end of the season.”

Happy Tomas? Of course you are happy, so would we all be, getting paid to do very little 😉

I have a thought Tomas, maybe as you have been paid for two years without playing, maybe now you should be agreeing to play without being paid!!

Ok, I know that won’t happen, but seriously, are you pleased or not? Remember many fans thought Old Red Nose was mad taking a gamble on Owen, but he has nabbed a few goals for the Mancs to save their skins!

Would you have rather we spent the wages we will be paying him on funding a new player?

Or, like me, are you chuffed as punch, waiting now in anticipation to see the new Rosicky play the same way as the old one did?

Time will tell I guess and this is the only of the few times I hope I am right, normally I am on the end of a load of abuse from ave, him telling me I am always wrong… Fingers crossed eh!

Rumours about Paddy returning to England are gathering pace but no, he is not coming ‘home’, he is supposed to be going to Citeh – what a strange move for him if it’s true. He won’t get in the team and why would he want to learn a coaching trade in Manchester? Oh well, he is no longer a player to fear, he wasn’t a few seasons ago when we played against him in the CL, so he sure won’t be now!

Day 5 of the transfer market and yesterday there was suggestion that Miguel Veloso is to be on the move in January. If you believe the semi-skimmed papers, we are up against ‘Arry for his services..

He is meant to be quite good isn’t he, I have seen his name in many blogs, most saying he would be a great signing – I haven’t seen him play so can’t comment, but right now any link to a defensive/holding midfielder makes me happy, only because it makes me think that Wenger is looking to fill a huge void left by Billabong!

Bad news is that Cesc is out for an extra week, but good news is that ITV have pencilled us in for the FA Cup game against Stoke – That is fab as not many of us could make that journey – so another match in front of the television with a glass of something strong looms 🙂

But any thoughts of us signing a striker in January have toady been dashed as Nikki B is returning to full training today, bummer I say, I had hoped Carlton Cole would be ours by the end of the month. A big strong lean striker who can use his feet and his head – I guess a girl can dream!

That’s about it, don’t forget any newbie’s, mind your P’s and Q’s when blogging please, otherwise your comments get spammed 😦

News is breaking from Spain that Fran Merida has signed for Athletico and will join at the end of the season, I really hope this is pure speculation and nothing else, I want Fran to stay at Arsenal.

    Morning Roadsters

  2. rico says:

Whatever is going on at Bolton, I hope it gets sorted out on Thursday 😉

  3. Spike says:

    What a pathetically puerile title…

    Well done…

  4. rico says:

Couldn’t have been that bad spike, it made you read it ! 😉

  5. Spike says:

    rico;

    Blame Newsnow for that!

  6. DKD says:

give the guy a breal .hes been at the table for over 20 months all together .he s top class and he ll prove it .

  7. rico says:

So what is your view on Tomas spike, thats more important than the title of the post…

  8. rico says:

Welcome to Avenell Road DKD, please re-read the post, I am pleased we have extended his contact…

  9. sri says:

    any news about fran deal??

  10. Moray says:

Looks like Merida has signed for Atletico as he is out of contract at the end of the season. Oh well, that’s a few years’s salary wasted for another player!

  11. Spike says:

    rico;

I have always thought Tomas is a top top player, we have really missed him and if he is over his horrendous injury setbacks, then the extension to his contract is great news!

He is a match winner and I am looking forward to him playing an important part in our challenge for the title and Cups this season!

  12. Spike says:

    rico;

    Did YOU write the post?

  13. rico says:

Welcome to Avenell Road sri and Moray, you are free to blog..

The news re Fran has only just appeared in the gossip columns – hopefull AFC will either confirm or deny this today…

    Spike, I did….

  14. rico says:

Spike, I also rate Rosicky and am glad he has signed, my point was do others feel the same or do they feel the club is wasting money.

I hope he gets back to being the player he was before his injuries, he was and could still be an great player…

  15. James says:

Look i too was suprised that tomos got a 2 year deal as i was fully expecting a 1 year extension with a second or 3rd year on review, in saying that rosicky is an outstanding footballer one of the best in this league his maturity, positioning, passing and discision making is what makes him a great player.

That little stat you brought up at the top of the page is completely irrelevant, 74 games 14 goals so what! have you forgotten somthing rosicky is not a striker. I ask you to hazard a guess how many goals thomos has created and how many passing moves he has started leading to goals in those games the answer probably 3 times what he has scored being he is a midfielder i would think that the most important stat.

i appologise to have a go at you but it makes me angry that fans like yourself, when were loosing you have articals flowing out of your arse about how the squad is not good enough and we need more exp players and then you want us to get shot of one of the only ones we have, but when were doing well your articals dissappear until you find somthing negative to say ‘as above’.

Thomas’ injury was the main reason arshavin was brought in and nothing else we didnt need arsh before last new year but after it was declared that there were complications in the surgey on rosicky which would delay his recovery arsene had to act so thank heavans for small mercies we now have 2 exp attacking mids or in asrhes case forward aswell.

in stead of concentrating on all the bad at our club never mind wether thomas is doining his job an lets do our job at the club as the 12th man the supporter the fan. fans worship not scorn.

  16. James says:

by the way its not a pop at you its a culmination of other bloggers too i beleive you title should have been

2 year Thomos pens a new deal, now its time to repay the faith

  17. alfamilano says:

    Ave

thanks for sorting out my posts. London, sorry again for any embarrassment.

    Rico

I’m glad Rosicky has resigned (or should that be re-signed? Signed again?) OK he owes us a long run of good performances but he seems to have the right attitude for that – the injury was bad luck. Wouldn’t it be worse if say Burnley or someone had picked him up for nothing and he had come back as a world beater?

  18. kelsey says:

    Morning rico and all.

The club was dortmund, and contrary to popular belief he was not injury prone, and only left the german club,as they were cash strapped.

The new contract is for an undisclosed period.is it a gambe by Wenger ? Who really knows. my guess is that he has a one year extension at the most.

Merida has run down his contract and I believe would be a free agent in the Summer,so one can only assume that AW has not been able t oagree terms with him.

  19. rico says:

Morning James, welcome to Avenell Road

The point of the post and sarcasm is to try and get a debate, the fact that the title and contents have tempted into posting proves that it worked…

Maybe you could use the title in your own blog James, forgive me if you have but if so, why not let us know what your site it 🙂

Also James, re-read my views in the post, I rate Tomas very highly!!

  20. alfamilano says:

    Morning kelsey.

I don’t think Merida helped his case for a new contract against West Ham.

  21. rico says:

    Morning alfa and kelsey

He has just been really unlucky kelsey, I really hope this ‘gamble’ pays off, as you say, time will tell..

I agree alfa, had he have walked for free and got back to his old self, we would all being pretty cheesed off 😦

Fran was offered a new deal in Spt according to the paps, but he turned it down – I hope its just a re-run of rumours

  22. rico says:

alfa, ave will still be asleep 😉 😉

  23. rico says:

    Spt = Sept 😦

  24. kelsey says:

    Morning alfamilano.

I don’t think one can judege merida on half a game at West Ham. he most probably wants to go back to Spain, and doesn’t feel he will get much first team football with us for the moment.

  25. Fred says:

    eerh… u cant spell Dortmund?

  26. rico says:

He had a game against WH like Ramsey did against Cardiff – but against Liverpool in the CC he was pretty darn good 😉

He is still young though, I hoped he would stay, go on loan to a Championship side for the rest of this season and gain valuable experience of the English game – bit like Lansbury at Watford..

  27. James says:

yeah rico i understood that you were pleased th thom has signed on again but the first half reminded me of all the negative fans this club has when now is the time we should be supporting
sorry to make my …….. well rant sound specific to you, completly unintended but alot of blogger read other bloggers sites so it a go at the negetive ones b4 the debate gets started

  28. rico says:

Fred – welcome to Avenell Road, humour can sometimes be used in a post you know…. 😉

  29. rico says:

Borussia Dortmund is the correct name Fred 😉

  30. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

Well done rico – the ploy of putting up a headline which suggests one view followed by an article that argues against it always brings responses – unfortunately a lot of ‘angry folks’ only read the headline and not the article 😉

I gave my views yesterday on Tomas. Its a gamble – only time will tell whether it was wise.

The last time Arsene admitted to taking a gamble was with Bischof and that didn’t pay off. If kesley is correct and it is not 2 years, that would make more sense.

  31. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Good call rico – unfortunately we still don’t have a fit Rosicky to call on so maybe a years extension would have been a better way to keep him and see if he comes back as the player we bought.

I loved what he brought to the team before his unjuries so I’m looking forward to seeing him back playing regularly.

  32. rico says:

    Morning Rasp, thank you 🙂

I have only read the two years, afc.com don’t really make it clear, mind you they seldom do 😉

  33. kelsey says:

Rasp, it definitely is for an undiscloded term.

Who can’t spell Dortmund by the way,Fred.

  34. kelsey says:

    undiscloded 😉 undisclosed.

  35. rico says:

Morning peaches, I think we all agree its a gamble, but just imagine a fit Tomas on fire :)(not literally of course)

Irish will be pleased I think 😉

  36. Eazzy says:

Rocisky contract is based on appearance n club success, so yes its greet news since he is a fantastic player n also will keep cesc smiling 😉

  37. Rasputin says:

I have two rants for the day!….

OK signing Rosicky may be good, but getting Gallas to stay for at least another season is far more important IMO …….

Secondly, please, please, please Arsene don’t play Diaby as DM against Bolton. He has shown what a great attacking midfielder/support striker he is … its his natural position. We should have no problem in out-scoring Bolton. At DM, Diaby looks clumsy and lacking in awareness and positioning. Good as he is further up the pitch, I’d rather see Ramsey play the holding role than Diaby.

  38. rico says:

kelsey – Fred’s comment was directed at me, in the post I said I couldn’t spell it – sense of humour has ‘left’ him… 😉 I am obviously not cultured enough ….

  39. Rasputin says:

rico – have you got your undiesclosed? 😆

  40. peachesgooner says:

James – Arsenal don’t have negative supporters only realistic and optimistic ones 😉

The realistic ones can’t quite believe that we’re gonna hold on to this position we’re in and the optimistic ones have already planned what they’re wearing for the trophy parade 😉 How do you feel about the rest of the season?

  41. stonroy says:

Hey all. So it looks like Fran Merida is off back home to Spain. What a shame he could really have been a great one if he had the patience. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1766_5832174,00.html?

  42. rico says:

They are firmly closed Rasp, and keeping me warm 😉

Morning Eazzy, welcome to Avenell Road..

  43. rico says:

Morning stonroy – fingers crossed its old news being broadcast

  44. kelsey says:

    rico,

“I am obviously not cultured enough …”

very subtle smile say cheese ;).

  45. peachesgooner says:

Hi rasp – agree about Gallas, does he go for free at the end of this season?

  46. peachesgooner says:

    kelsey 😆

  47. rico says:

I think Gallas is in talks Rasp, it is probably the ‘I want two years’ v’s the ‘sorry Willy you are over 30 so only one’ 😉

Diaby wants to play the Song role, heaven forbid he gets given the chance 😦

  48. W,b says:

    VERY TRUE MATE,

SHOULD PLAY FOR FREE FOR THE NEXT 2YEARS!

  49. Rasputin says:

Like you rico, I’m a big fan of Merida, but to be honest we have so many amazing midfielders, it is hard to see how he would get into the first team regularly -and at the expense of who …. Nasri, AA, Tomas, Vela?
I think Arsene should stop collecting compact, clever midfielders and turn his attention to a CB or HM

  50. rico says:

    😆 kelsey..

  51. Fred says:

hmm. dont really see whats funny in not being able to spell Dortmund or Borussia Dortmund. I mean either its serious and he came from Urinea Urziceni or its not and he arrived from Parma or smthn. Well maybe im just nowhere near the sense of humor in this blog 🙂 😛

  52. alfamilano says:

Fair point kelsey, he is still young to be living so far from home and not seeing the rewards for it.

Peaches, I remember Tomas wasn’t a bad tackler for an attacking midfielder, am I right? I hope he hasn’t lost that part of his game.

  53. peachesgooner says:

I am also perplexed at the thought of Diaby in the HM position 😦

  54. rico says:

Or both Rasp – I think that is how he sees it too, he wants to play but can’t see himself getting a chance. But its a shame, because if he believes in himself he should stay and prove how good he is…

  55. Rasputin says:

If we don’t offer Gallas 2 years we need our heads examining … Sylvestre got 2 years for christ’s sake!!! Gallas can play a major role next season and be a far better ‘occasional player’ the year after than Sylvestre and also a great mentor for the likes of JD. I know Gallas is on much higher wages, but he has been fantastic this season and age does not seem to have diminished his energy or ability.

  56. kelsey says:

    Rasp,

I agree entirely about Diaby. He is an attacking midfielder and is just oozing in confidence(finally)and he can’t replace Song, as he will always want to attack, and secondly he hasn’t got the stamina of Song to bomb up and down the pitch for 90 minutes.

Will Senderos play tomorrow ? if not he surely must be on the way out, and with Djorou out most of the season, are priorities IMO are in defence.
Will also be interesting to see if Vela starts in his right position, down the left flank. In fact team selection will be to say the least interesting.

I would keep fab in goal, he offers so much more, his reactions, his command of the box and his distribution, but AW will revert to Almunia as he is scared Almunia wouldn’t be second choice.AW should install Fab as from now,it will be beneficial in the long run

  57. stonroy says:

Morning Rico, it looks to be the real deal, it’s over Sky, he gone. Oh well hopefully we can get some money for him

  58. rico says:

    stonroy 😦 😦

He is off on a freebie

  59. Rasputin says:

    Morning kesley,

We’ve agreed for a long time about Almunia and we know he won’t buy so Fab2 is by far our best option. Obviously I never want us to lose, but I’d almost like Almunia to have a complete nightmare of a game (but we win 7:3) to force Arsene to make Fab2 our number one. I think that what Lehman said about Almunia was correct.

  60. W.A.T.H says:

Nice post rico………. For me Tomas brings tempo to the team that we don’t have when he or Cesc are not playing. He also isn’t shy to shoot………! as for lenght of contract who cares we want our best players to stay don’t we…?.

As for Fran he has talent for sure but always gives me the impression the attitude isn’t quite right. Ath Mad over us…….. shut the door on the way out fella… Thanks and bye..!

  61. alfamilano says:

Merida reminds me of Aliadiere – pretty good but not quite going to make it at the top so let him go to the next tier down and have a good career. Best of luck to him.

  62. W.A.T.H says:

I wonder if there is any chance Fran can do us a favour and take Almunia with him………..!

  63. stonroy says:

yeah on a free me thinks, maybe a little bit of money as he’s U21.

  64. Rasputin says:

rico, let me know if you ever want a simple ‘tabloid headline’ London decided against using my “Ramsey nails Hammers” yesterday … today’s would have been “Doubting Tomas?” 😉

  65. rico says:

Thanks WATH and Morning to you

  66. rico says:

You know me Rasp, musical 😉

Is that like Educating Rita 😉 😉

  67. W.A.T.H says:

    Rasp……….. your such a poet…..! 🙂

    Mornin 2u2u rico….

  68. peachesgooner says:

Morning alfa – I’m reliably informed by Irish – Tomas’ biggest fan that he was indeed a good tackler, there are some youtube videos by a guy named carpenter that show all his amazing attributes 🙂

  69. rico says:

    stonroy, hope you are right..

  70. rico says:

How does Irish know Tomas has good tackle peaches 😳

  71. W.A.T.H says:

rico thats norti………………… I knew u only liked him 4 one reason 😉 lol

  72. rico says:

    WATH – 😆

  73. W.A.T.H says:

    focus rico……….. NO………. not on that….!

  74. W.A.T.H says:

Rasp is also spot on we need to get Big Willy ( sorry rico couldn’t resist ) signed up as a matter of utmost importance…! Can’t have him walking out in June on a freebie..!

  75. rico says:

I’m sorry, I will get back to football 😉

  76. rico says:

    Now now WATH 😆

  77. W.A.T.H says:

Kelsey, re- Senderos isn’t he still injured hence he didnt play on sunday..? AW said he would play if he passed a fitness test..!

  78. alfamilano says:

Peaches, thanks for the confirming that my memory isn’t failing too much.

Maybe the contract will be a weight off his mind.

Got to go now, talk to you all later.

  79. Rasputin says:

I’m not coming on this site if you’re all getting smutty … thank goodness we don’t have Windass, Dickov or Shittu in the side

  80. rico says:

    Rasp 😆

See you later alfa, have a good day

  81. W.A.T.H says:

    Very droll Rasp…………

  82. bjohnson says:

YOU ARE SUCH A PRATT!!! I ALONG WITH MOST ARSENAL SUPPORTERS WELCOME ROSICKY’S NEW CONTRACT. HE IS ONE OF OUR MOST IMPORTANT PLAYERS.

  83. rico says:

    Welcome bjohnson

Maybe if you had actually read the post you will see that so do I… It is clear you haven’t got passed the headline….

  84. rico says:

Oh, and no need to shout at us all please…

  85. Rasputin says:

    bjohnson,

Well done, not only have you completely misunderstood the article, you have completely misunderstood the site. But because we’re all nice polite Arsenal loving folk we’d like to hear more from you once you’ve calmed down 😛

  86. peachesgooner says:

bjohnson – have you read the post?

  87. rico says:

    Thanks Rasp..

  88. rico says:

    and peaches 🙂

  89. London says:

    Morning Roadsters

I’m guessing that is what you meant Rasp 😉

  90. Rasputin says:

    Hi London,

understood = misunderstood – really must learn to read what I type before I press send 🙄

  91. Rasputin says:

Thanks London – feel free to edit me anytime I happen to put up something that says exactly the opposite of what I mean 😛

  92. London says:

    Rico

    A very clever post

  93. rico says:

    Thanks London 🙂

  94. London says:

I must admit that I didn’t expect Rosicky to sign a new contract but now he has I am quite excited about it.

  95. rico says:

    oops, sorry, good morning 😉

  96. W.A.T.H says:

Amazing how ppl come on shout and rant and have not got the first idea whats been written cos they1re throwing thier toys out the pram having seen the headline…! Has the cheek 2 call you a pratt rico….! if the cap fits me thinks…! mornin London…

  97. London says:

    Morning W.A.T.H

Where are you based? Are you able to get to many of the games?

  98. W.A.T.H says:

I’m in London London 😉 2b honest mate I tend to stay in the pub with mates these days. The grove just doesnt do it for me anymore and the sanitised atmosphere just makes it worse…!.

  99. London says:

Yeah, I know what you mean about the sanitised atmosphire, the only way I have found to re-kindle that old magic is to go to an away game….sing their hearts out…great fun.

  100. Tiki says:

Veloso is over-rated. Ask any Sporting fan and they’ll tell you he’s over-rated.

  101. W.A.T.H says:

The away support is as close as you get to decent support…! Even thats becoming “infiltrated” as well 🙂 far to many jcl’s and tourists…… Oh well sky tv loves it…!

  102. W.A.T.H says:

Tiki, sporting fans have hated Veloso ever since he said he wanted to leave…!

  103. alfamilano says:

    Morning London.

  104. Rasputin says:

I think tomorrow’s game must be in doubt. The forecast is for heavy snow. Although the pitch will be fine (unless its snowing during the game) the health and safety issues regarding fans getting the ground may mean it will be called off.

  105. rico says:

Sorry folks, my doorbell rang…. And there are some folk who just can’t take a hint 😦

  106. peachesgooner says:

I have 2 spare tickets for tmoro as my foot is now too bad for me to contemplate walking to the ground and my footie companions live in the depths of Hertfordshire and are bound to be snowed in 😉

  107. alfamilano says:

Rasp, that’s a good point. If the FCC line starts to pack up as well it could cause quite a problem. Plus there was a broken gas main in the Holloway Road yesterday I think.

The transport to the ground generally is a real failing in my view. A good subject for a blog. And don’t get me started on the police making us all walk on the wrong side of the road up to Finsbury Park.

  108. rico says:

Its been snowing here this morning Rasp, fingers crossed the weather girls get it wrong and it just rains 😉

  109. avenell says:

Terrible post .. Rosicky got injured playing for Arsenal as much as Eduardo did.. just because his injury was not as obvious ad Dudu’s why is everyone picking on Tomas?

I’ll go and read the article now.. lol…

    Morning rico.. 😉

I had this the other day.. I wrote “Should we?”

not “we should”.. it was an open title for debate.

  110. rico says:

Hi Tiki, write him off then 😉

  111. avenell says:

Pissing down with rain here and it’s warmed up… could be coming your way..

  112. Rasputin says:

We’ve talked about the atmosphere issue at The Emirates before. I think the reason it is ‘quiet’ is threefold.

    1. It’s a new stadium and the club are trying to make it more homely by the process of Arsenalization.

    2. By virtue of its capacity more fans who may not be as fervent are able to attend games – plus – with high ticket prices and more ladies and youngsters the ‘grass roots’ fans are being diluted in the crowd.

    3. The acoustics of a large ovoid ground as opposed to defined areas or stands as at OT and Pool means that cohesive chanting is lost by the time delay.

  113. avenell says:

    The Dippers killed the atmosphere..

  114. peachesgooner says:

The thing is we really want the game to be played because it couldn’t be re-scheduled for months and this is a good time to play Bolton and I want to be second …….

    Bloomin’ weather 😦

Last year a game got postponed because there was thick snow at the Emirates but everyone forgets about the fact that supporters have to get there and then get home even if theres no snow in N7.

  115. London says:

    Morning Ave and Alfa

We have become so used to being disappointed in the tranfer window, I don’t sense that any one who comes on here is expecting a signing at all.

But then again Wenger has got this habit of suprising us.

  116. peachesgooner says:

ave – what can you mean? I reckon stadiums would have become all seated anyway – health and safety and all that……..

  117. London says:

If it gets postponed we are likely to have Fabregas, Song, Bendtner, Rosicky, Clichy, Gibbs and Walcott to chose from.

I started of writing that with just Fabregas and Song in mind and then it just became funny 😉

  118. avenell says:

    Morning london…

We may be dissapointed in the quantity but the quality has been superb..

Man u and the Dippers have bought loads in, but 99% of them have been crap..

  119. peachesgooner says:

    London – every cloud ….. 😆

  120. avenell says:

Hi Peaches… I think there would have been a standing section where the hard core fans could have sung there heart out..

    Why are seats safer?

  121. peachesgooner says:

Talksport were really scathing yesterday of the current Man U team – said that only Ferdinand, Vidic and you know who were good enough to play for the biggest club in the world……..

  122. avenell says:

    Vidic’s off to Real..

  123. avenell says:

and Nani has had a row with red nose..

  124. peachesgooner says:

Of course seats are safer ave – all that pushing and shoving the guys hate having the girls elbowing them in the ribs and crushing their toes…. 😉

Don’t believe everything you read there are a few areas downstairs where a large majority of supporters stand throughout the game – its not too safe to stand in the upper tiers but I stood for a lot of the game against the spuds just cos everyone around me was too.

  125. peachesgooner says:

ave – your 11.55 – its called the away end 😳

  126. avenell says:

The problem is everyone who wants to sing are spread around the ground and singing is diluted..

There needs to be an area where the singers can all stand next to each other.. like the middle of the North Bank used to be..
A thousand used to sing throughout the game and others would just join in when they wanted..

There will never ever be a decent atmosphere at the Emirates.. giving Mickey mouse scarves away and kids singing rah rah isn’t proper football.

  127. Rasputin says:

SAF is not used to being under financial presure – the £80m they got for Ronaldo got swallowed up by their debt. No player ever survives a row with Fergie (Stam, Beckham) Vidic will be off – no doubt.

  128. peachesgooner says:

There is a singing section in the opposite corner to the away fans……

  129. Rasputin says:

I think ‘The Wonder of You’ sums up the ethos of the club …. saccharin and frills instead of blood and thunder …

  130. avenell says:

The North bank was like 2/5 of Highbury.. so when the middle section started the others started to join in..

What percentage of the Emirates is the singing section?

It’s easier to sing standing up too, it’s not so personal.. if you were sitting amonst 10 non singers and you pipe up you feel a bit of a dick..
If there was a standing zone you would just move..and stand next to like minded people..
    Seating has killed it..

  131. Rasputin says:

I always sat in the North Bank Lower – I could just see over the top of the goal. Dreadful for watching the game but fantastic for the singing …we’re the norf bank, we’re the norf bank, we’re the norf bank ‘ighbury

  132. avenell says:

I prefer to watch games from behind the goal.. I got used to it..

  133. Rasputin says:

Yea ave, I preferred it oo, its just that the perspective meant you hadn’t really got a clue what was happning at the other end of the pitch…..I watched in slow motion as that lob from Henry floated over Bartez’s head and nestled into the netting……priceless

  134. avenell says:

I sometimes wonder what managers see from the dugout..
It is a different game at pitch height.. not so pleasing on the eye the movement etc..

  135. Rasputin says:

Yes ave, I agree. I sat at pitch level for the spitgate game, just to the side of the technical area and you really can’t see any detail of what’s happening on the other side or goalmouths. It seems there are monitors which assistants have access to which may mean a message can be relayed to Arsene whne an incident takes place.

  136. rico says:

    Morning ave

  137. rico says:

ave – would you mind checking the one in pending, no email address so was unsure?? Thanks

  138. avenell says:

Hi rico.. how did it go this morning.. did you bin anyone?

  139. peachesgooner says:

I’ve ranted before about Arsenes perspective of the game, he needs to come and sit with me to see whats actually happening………

Its great to be part of the hurly burly at grass roots level but I quite like watching the football…… 😀

  140. avenell says:

I have just noticed the box wasn’t ticked in the depths that requires an email..

    I have done that now..

  141. avenell says:

Have you got room on your sofa for Arsene Peaches?

  142. rico says:

No-one binned ave, a few insults but all ok thanks, maybe the mind your p’s and q’s helped 😉

Got to pop out for an hour.

  143. rico says:

    Thanks ave

peaches, i am a little on the under tall side, soon as everyone stands up I dont get to see a thing when I have been 😦

  144. avenell says:

    Good .. nice one rico..

  145. rico says:

Can that pending one come on ave?

  146. peachesgooner says:

Exactly rico – its alright for the 6 footers and I don’t believe ave falls into that bracket 😳

  147. avenell says:

    Laying down perhaps.. 😉

  148. rico says:

    Wide maybe peaches 😉 😉

  149. Rasputin says:

rico – would Andrey Elfsharvin look down on you? 😕

  150. avenell says:

rico.. I let him on but it’s way back..

  151. rico says:

mme, just I think Rasp 😦

  152. W.A.T.H says:

Hi Av, Interesting thoughts on the sitting standing whole atmosphere thingy…. I think many many reasons why the atmosphere is pretty rubbish and most are due to the club wanting it that way in my opinion…!

  153. I for one am glad that Rosicky will be sticking around, he’s a world class talent – according to the Times interview he did a couple of years ago, he and his brother were a bona-fide Arsenal supporters growing up as well.

  154. kelsey says:

    Hi,
Queen of Suburbia. I gave up on the other channel.pity but never mind.Nice to hear from you.

I understand the game is very much in doubt for tomorrow, the other 2 CC games are already off.

  155. rico says:

Afternoon folks, What a day!! Grrr

Have we signed anyone, AW’s i/v is on sky sports in a while, he is talking about Paddy going to Citeh…

  156. rico says:

We should be ok shouldn’t we kelsey, unless it snows?

We need the London bloggers on with an update on the weather

    😉

  157. rico says:

    Anyone else see this yesterday??

SAMUEL YEBOAH may have only just signed for Belgian outfit Genk but he has already set his sights higher as he wants to play for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
The 23-year-old is honest enough to admit he only sees Genk as a stepping stone to a bigger club and a move to Emirates Stadium is in his long-term thinking.

After becoming something of a goal machine in Israel, he cost around £650,000 when leaving Hapoel Tel Aviv last week as a move to Europe became inevitable.

Birmingham have previously watched Yeboah, who has two caps for Ghana, and a switch to the Premier League is already in his thinking after he showed potential in this term’s Europa League.

“I hope to get to a top European league via Genk,” he said. “I dream of Arsenal.”

Yeboah’s uncle Tony was an explosive success with Leeds in the mid-nineties, scoring 25 times including a couple of goal-of-the-season contenders against Wimbledon and Liverpool.

Wenger must be doing something right because Lens’ Razak Boukari has also spoken of his wish to play for the Gunners.

In an interview with La Voix du Nord, the Togo midfielder said: “Arsenal are the club of my dreams – I hope to play one day in England.”

  158. kelsey says:

    rico,

I was thinking that Arsenal has a big catchment area as well as the folk coming down from Bolton, rather than the state of our pitch and the immediate surrounding area

only 22 degrees today, a bit of a wind as well 😉

  159. rico says:

    22 degrees kelsey, definately off 😉 😉

Trust me, didn’t give the away fans a thought.. 😉

  160. Rasputin says:

It is reported that Denilson is fit and will fill Song’s shoes if the game goes ahead tomorrow …. good news and it means Diaby’s emergence as an attacking force can continue.

  161. avenell says:

The weather for London tomorrow is heavy snow..

It would be good if the game gets called off because one of our supporters can get over her foot injury.. 😉

No I mean some of the 11 players we have out could then play in the game.. but the fixtures will be even more congested..

  162. rico says:

Its looking like snow is on its way in the area 22 miles from London – forcast is 5″ tonight 🙄

Now, I wonder if that is a mans 5″ or a ladies – I must see who reported the weather 😉

  163. rico says:

    Its snowing now 😦 😦

  164. rico says:

Last time we had lots of games in hand near the end of the season…..

    We won the league 🙂

  165. W.A.T.H says:

lol rico u have something on the brain………… 😛

  166. W.A.T.H says:

    U must kno ladies can’t count rico….. 😉

  167. rico says:

    Ah WATH, but we can multi-task 😉 😉 😳

  168. Rasputin says:

How bad’s the snow now rico? – they are forecasting 40cm (16″) not far from you….

  169. rico says:

Wenger – I want to buy as soon as possible

Although Arsène Wenger wants to move quickly in the transfer market, the Arsenal manager is no closer to bringing in a new face.

For some weeks, the Frenchman has openly talked about the need to buy a striker during January. Speculation was already rife before the turn of the year and has only increased now the window is open.

With two crucial Premier League games coming up in the next few days and clashes against his main title rivals at the end of the month, Wenger recognises he could do with making his purchases sooner rather than later. But, speaking on the eve of the Bolton game, there was little to report.

“Ideally because of the number of games you have in January, you want to act as quickly as possible,” he said. “But at the moment it is very quiet.

“You hear here and there a player is going, but there is always more talk in the media than movement and more speculation than acting.”

  170. rico says:

Its not much right now Rasp, but the clouds are doing what they do when the heavens are about to open with the white stuff… 😦 Will be in and out with the pups so keep you updated 😉

  171. Rasputin says:

There you have it difinitively – we’re not going to buy anyone 😦

  172. W.A.T.H says:

    Multi what rico 😉

Seems AW is saying all the normal stuff about transfers and then as normal we’ll have noone bought by Jan 31st……. Will the snow be a prob if it doesnt freeze…? Only time will tell..!

  173. avenell says:

16″ how deep is that in ricometers?

  174. W.A.T.H says:

Must be about 4″ I reckon Av seeing as rico is the measure mistress…!

  175. rico says:

Rasp, I was so busy watching the snow fall, I missed your naughty little comment 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thats definately a mans inches 😉

  176. rico says:

    2cm ave 😆

  177. rico says:

WATH – Have I told you its great having you here with us all on AR, your humour is just as cheeky as the other boys 😉

Do you like cricket too 😆

  178. rico says:

We are going to sign the next british defender who is meant to be awesome, another welsh boyo from Cardiff, I bet Ramsey has put in a good word..

  179. W.A.T.H says:

I didnt think I had any cheek at all rico………. I did like cricket until we got a good thumping today 🙂 I think they need smaller bats n we need bigger balls….! No pun intended of course

  180. W.A.T.H says:

I bet fungusbum won’t let Gary Neville do the next tour of OT with a specific transfer target like they did with Aaron…. lol…..!

  181. rico says:

I can see the chopper warming up to go fetch the kid from here 😆 – no pun intended either 😉

Dreadful day in the cricket today, we need a miracle to get a draw I feel 😦

  182. rico says:

I love Gary Neville, just for the tour 😉

  183. W.A.T.H says:

No worries rico its gonna snow in CT 2moro….!

Hope the chopper gets warm they fail dismally in the cold….!

  184. W.A.T.H says:

Gary Neville… manchesters answer to Rabsi Nesbitt

  185. rico says:

    ARRRGGGG

We are going head to head with Old Red Nose for The Hulk…

The Hulk, The Beast – both overated???

Oh, according to his agent that is..

  186. W.A.T.H says:

Thing is rico as per usual the agent says talking to the big four in England blah blah blah which means he’ll sign a new contract with Porto next week…. job done…! such drivel…!

  187. avenell says:

The transfer window is going well… sales are up.. 😉

  188. rico says:

Agents WATH, they are the most over paid, under worked folk in football… all crooks aswell 😉

The only good agent is one that cleans – Dennis came from that one 😉 😉

  189. rico says:

On a serious note, I don’t think Arsene has ever been so ‘vocal’ on the build up to and during a transfer window – he seems like a man posessed….

One day he says it will be quiet, the next it will be busy, one day he is not looking, the next he wants to bring in two players….

I reckon he is on the hunt – I really do 😉

    And not Stephen either 😉

  190. wath2010 says:

The only good agent is James Bond….!

Hmmm the lady is very subtle 😉

  191. rico says:

Hey ave, you or JJ got a pre match post??

  192. Rasputin says:

You’ve been suckered in by the hype rico …. we’re not going to sign anyone 😦 (unless its a Sol Campbell/Sylvestre type signing

  193. avenell says:

I don’t think there will be a match.. Difficult one that..

  194. Mustang says:

I do hope TR7 finds consistent fitness cos he is a class player but he needs games.
Merida did not cover himself with glory at the WHU game, but you don’t become a bad player after one game. I will not be too sad if he went, we have too many similar players.

Ps – the Wednesday game vs Bolton is at risk of being called off.

  195. rico says:

Rasp, no please, dont say that 😦 😦

Snow has stopped here, the thought of Rasp’s 16″ did it 😉

  196. rico says:

    😳 😳

    That last comment sounds naughty…..

  197. avenell says:

    The other answer is no..

    I haven’t spoke to JJ..

  198. rico says:

    ave – shall i do another c**p one 😉 😉

  199. Rasputin says:

I didn’t know my reputation had reached your part of the world rico! 😳

  200. avenell says:

    I avoided it… I am too innocent 😎

  201. rico says:

16″ Rasp, it wasn’t your reputation that reached me 😉 😉

  202. avenell says:

You are living up to your name at last rasp..

or do one like you did today rico.. 😉

  203. Rasputin says:

    Modesty forbids 🙄

Here’s my headline for tomorrow “Snow no Show” 😛

  204. rico says:

I am on to it now ave… and I dont care who insults me for it… I love it 😛

  205. rico says:

Rasp, mine is Arsenal finally look to go Green 🙂 🙂

  206. avenell says:

You only need the rest of the post rasp and it’s all yours.. 😉

Is it on sky tomorrow ? ..or just football first later?

  207. rico says:

Footie first ave at the moment, but if the televised one gets cancelled they will switch ..

B’stard, my title was good too!! 😉

  208. rico says:

wath2010 – are you the same man 🙂

Welcome Mustang, crack on and blog freely, sorry for the delay but first comments are held in moderation..

  209. kelsey says:

I always thought you were short rasp, but surely you aren’t related to ronnie corbett

  210. avenell says:

Sorry about that rico.. my emails broke.. Mrs avenell knows how to fix it.. I don’t 😦

  211. rico says:

No worries ave, I am around for a little while, but soon have to go and cook – oh, and sweep away 16″ of snow 😦

  212. W.A.T.H says:

Sorry rico was messing about and had a crisis of identity

  213. W.A.T.H says:

Hope you warmed that chopper thoroughly rico or you will be to blame if it doesnt go up lata….!

  214. Rasputin says:

Well its good night from me … and its good night from him…….

  215. avenell says:

I used to have a chopper.. 3 speed and everything..

It was a Mk2 though.. not the Mk1 with the better handlebars.

  216. rico says:

Nighty Night Rasp, catch you tomorrow – stay safe 🙂

  217. avenell says:

    and it was purple… 😳

  218. W.A.T.H says:

    Choppers come with handlebars………….????

  219. W.A.T.H says:

Far to much info Av, you obviously rode it to hard…!

  220. avenell says:

I wish I could get my hands on one now.. gulp.. 😉

  221. W.A.T.H says:

I am def not going to comment on that last quote….. Think you best go roll in the snow mate…!

  222. rico says:

Back in a while, need to get dinner 😦

  223. avenell says:

We haven’t got any.. a bit of sleet last night..

I have just seen Burnley and Manchester on SSN.. I cannot see the Bolton fans getting to the Emirates tomorrow.. They will cancel it..

  224. W.A.T.H says:

    wot ya cookin me rico…?

  225. W.A.T.H says:

They will all come in a minibus anyway so whats the problem…?

  226. avenell says:

Yeah your right.. it’s not like they have to rush back to work..

  227. W.A.T.H says:

They prob thumbing a lift as we speak 🙂 WWill be a right bonus if we play and win and they now have the added CC semi to now fit in….!

  228. W.A.T.H says:

they being the mancs of course…!

  229. avenell says:

The rich mancs v the skint salford red sox is on the 19th now..

  230. W.A.T.H says:

We want 2 nil nil draws extra time and penalties and of course a mass brawl and 3/4 sent off 🙂

  231. alfamilano says:

+ 3 point deduction for both teams + managers suspended for 2 matches.

  232. alfamilano says:

    Then I woke up

  233. W.A.T.H says:

I like that extra bit Alfa 🙂 It’s the CC though would they deduct points.. A big mass brawl would do me loads booked 3/4 sent off and you know Bellamy would start it…. lol

  234. alfamilano says:

I heard that Micah Richards might be on the move, maybe to Spurs. Would we be interested? I thought he looked good last season.

  235. alfamilano says:

Fair point WATH; always good to see Bellamy sent off.

It must hurt Mancini that he can’t wear his new club scarf this evening. I love it that he wears it in the Italian style and it ends up looking like a neck brace.

He probably asked for ‘uno Missoni scarf’ and that’s what the Mancs thought he meant.

  236. kelsey says:

    rasp,

that was a great reply 🙂

Apparently snow and ice are forecast for the next two weeks, maybe we will have to play every day from the end of Januaryonwards.

I hope Rosicky doesn’t go walkies tonight, don’t want him injured.

  237. W.A.T.H says:

Think Richards is a typical england player who has decided he’s a superstar already….. Heard he enjoys being a dj more than playing footie…!

  238. alfamilano says:

sure, looks like he needs some proper coaching.

  239. W.A.T.H says:

Is it coaching or has he just got a crap attitude..? Can never really tell..! AW knows Richards is a Gooner as well so maybe he knows more about his attitude than we do….

  240. rico says:

WA – am I allowed to abbreviate please? 😉

Nowt much for dinner, just jacket potatoes and stuff 😉

Richards would be a good signing for us, he just needs a bit of discipline.. AW’s the man to do that…

  241. rico says:

    2″ have fallen here 😦 😦

  242. W.A.T.H says:

you back 2 ur measurements again rico…. 🙂 jacket spuds n spicy mince will keep u warm…! SO u wanna half me now rico…. WA……….. don’t stick a B in the middle

  243. W.A.T.H says:

Still not sure about Richards………. Not heard good things about him outside of footie..! Now give me Joe Hart any day….!

  244. rico says:

Wath – I am not a meat eater 😳 so would have to be spicy quorn…

Lets meet in the middle, get them both 🙂 To be honest though, Fabianski looked awesome and could soon be our main man… Hart would be a great second keeper 😉

  245. W.A.T.H says:

Hart is a Gooner he also miles better than Fabianski who if I am honest still gives me the heeby geebies….!.

Meat can be tasted long as u dont eat 😉 bet u dont blush that easy either 😛

  246. rico says:

Wath, you are so so bad, what does blush mean??? ;)I am too old to blush 😦

Never knew Hart was a Gooner though, but if we had both to challenge eachother we would be on a win win 🙂

  247. alfamilano says:

Hart does look good. Fabianski definitely on the up for me though.

  248. W.A.T.H says:

After the end of last season and the rushes of blood to his head alfa he couldn’t of got any worse surely…? Yes he’s better but will he be good enough, still panics to much for me but what do I kno…..

  249. W.A.T.H says:

rico………. me bad………. never….! Hart was in the away end at anfield for Champs Lge the other yr his whole family r Gooners. Any one but Almunia would make me happy

  250. alfamilano says:

Fair point, after the WH match I’d forgotten about last season at the end.

Go to go, see you all again tomorrow.

  251. W.A.T.H says:

    Cheers alfa…

  252. avenell says:

My keyboard has gone belly.. 😦

    Seeya alfa..

  253. W.A.T.H says:

Punch it Av, also works 4 me………….

  254. avenell says:

I spilt daddies sauce on it, then cleaned it with windscreen cleaner.. then contact cleaner. then stripped it down..now it’s not working as good.. 😦

  255. rico says:

ave – where was Mrs ave, she would have known what to do, you boys…..

You around for the night ave? I could do with departing, got a snow plough to drive over the patio 😉

  256. Rasputin says:

Stoke 3 nil up against Fulham at half time…..

  257. avenell says:

Okay rico.. I’m on the laptop for a bit..

I was going to tell you some prick in Newquay has hanged himself on a crossbar in the school playing field during school time today..
what goes through some peoples heads?

  258. peachesgooner says:

Hi rasp – thats unexpected ….. Fulham have been flying

  259. peachesgooner says:

    Hi ave 🙂

  260. peachesgooner says:

    Sorry rasp 🙂

  261. avenell says:

Hi the Peach.. have you managed to get out today?

  262. rico says:

ave – is that for real? That is sad for everyone…

I’m offski folks, thanks ave, and thanks all for a day with fun and a bit of naughtiness 😉

    See you tomorrow, stay safe

  263. avenell says:

Not sure…. cheers rico.. look forwards to tomorrows abuse …. I mean post 😉

  264. W.A.T.H says:

    stay warm rico… ni nite….

  265. Rasputin says:

What are you sorry for peaches?

  266. Rasputin says:

My heatings gone wrong again …. it’s freeeeezinngggggg

  267. avenell says:

That’s not funny rasp.. have you any heat?

  268. peachesgooner says:

ave – today I’ve taken my poor foot to the doctor and to the hospital for an xray and had a blood test 😦

In addition a friend told me about an article in the Mail today about Jimmy White who has the same problem as me………..hes had it for years aaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhh 😦 😦 😦

Not that I’m looking for sympathy…….

  269. rico says:

    Night WATH 🙂

  270. peachesgooner says:

Only for not smiling at you rasp 🙂

  271. rico says:

peaches – thats not so good 😦

    Def off, night…

Thanks ave 😉 Rasp, look after those inches 😉

  272. peachesgooner says:

rasp – its cold enough there when you have heating. Can’t you all find other places to stay before you get snowed in……..

  273. Rasputin says:

I’ve made an open fire but most of the heat’s going up the chimney 😦

Can’t afford to have electric heaters on … woolly jumpers and bobble hats instead …

  274. avenell says:

same problem as Jimmy White… you going bald Peaches?

  275. peachesgooner says:

    Of course ave 😆

  276. avenell says:

25p an hour Rasp… even you can afford that for a day..

  277. avenell says:

Even Arsene Wenger has his heater on..

  278. rico says:
