Don’t Go Throwing Stones Mr Wenger!

Last night I was shocked when I saw the team that Wolves fielded against Man U, they changed all 10 outfield players. They held  up a white flag as they entered the Theatre of Debt.

But we cannot moan really can we?

I am not talking about the teams that we field in the League Cup, okay we field our youngsters and take a chance to see how far we get. That’s different.. Why?.  Because that is a one off game that doesn’t affect any other team only the team we are up against that day.

But a team that does it in the Premiership has a responsibility of fair play and respect to all teams in that League. I know this is a little exaggerated but, for instance if all the bottom 12 teams when they play Man U field a reserve team that would give Man U an unchallenged 72 points, They would only need about 15-20 more and the title would be Uniteds,  also it allows them to rest players later in games for greater challenges ahead.

It isn’t right for a club to decide who they choose to be Champions, it isn’t in the spirit of the game.

Last week I didn’t want us to field the kids against Olympiacos  because I wanted to keep up some sort of winning momentum, this is also what I believe Wolves should have done their players have until Sunday afternoon to recover. and they were buzzing after taking out the Totts at the Lane.

Anyway as I said I wanted a stronger team out against Olympiacos and I was going to continue the debate by saying it isn’t fair on Standard Liege, when they played against us we was still trying to qualify and we fielded our strongest team in Mr Wengers eyes. When we played Olympiacos we threw that game and I would not have been very happy if I was Standard Liege. If we had of won that last game in our Champions League group that means Standard Liege  had a chance of going through. (although they cocked up)

So what is the difference between what we did compared to what Wolves did last night, surely we had some responsibility to Standard to play our strongest team too!!

We shouldn’t be deciding which team joins us in the knockout stages.

Tonight we go back oop norf to Burnley who will play and quite rightly the strongest side they have even though they are Wolves opponents on Sunday, I do hope and so do about 99% of true football fans stick it right up Mick McCarthy’s  men on Sunday.
Burnley are not going to be a pushover tonight and the cold drizzly conditions will suit them, they have a good record at home too.
To be honest I quite like Burnley, they are one of the clubs that were in the big time when I were lad, I quite like the manager and they try to play decent football and not do the usual northern thuggery.

We should win I’m going to go for a clean sheet for Manuel and a brace for us.

Last night West Ham were all over until the keeper of our dreams this transfer window made a massive howler.. We need to be careful what we wish for on that one. In fact that mistake could have saved us a few quid, no point in buying a keeper for £10 million only to find he is worse than the three we already have..

Have a good day guys and gals.. I will be on later probably struggling to find a stream with you all as the Twelve Pins is a shade far away to go for a beer tonight..

I hope you can work out what I meant.. lol..

  2. Rasputin says:

    Hi ave,

Interesting post, but I’m not sure I can agree 😉

Surely Arsene’s job is to look after Arsenal’s best interests? We can’t very well pan him for being too soft and allowing RVP to play a meaningless international, but at the same time criticise him for being too harsh by not ‘respecting’ the Carling Cup.

  3. avenell says:

Hi Rasp.. I am not saying in the Carling Cup.. that is a one off game against one team..

I am saying in the CL.. Standard Liege had a chance of getting through to the knockout stages if we beat Olympiacos but we threw that game just like Wolves did last night..

Wolves were only protecting there players for Sunday, exactly the same as we did..

I know this is more a fault of the CL set up, but the principle is still the same we chose Olympiacos to join us in the knockout stages by throwing that game..

  4. Rasputin says:

    Hi again ave,

I thought our kids tried very hard against Olympiacos and bar some uncharactyerisitic misses from Vela would have got at least a point. I’m sure our agenda was not to chose Olympiacos, but to protect senior players in an already depleted squad.

I thinkj you’re right. The organisers of these competitions should have rules that try to stop weakened sides being put out, but we all know how hard it is to disprove a ‘phantom injury’

  5. avenell says:

I’m playing devil’s advocate here a bit now, but the Wolves second XI were doing fine against Man U until a CH jumped up and handled the ball..

And Wolves were protecting there players for a more important game to them on Sunday. They don’t have the luxury of the CL to rest or try out players so they did in a game they thought they couldn’t win.

We cannot say we are unfairly treated when we did the same to Standard..

I believe both Wolves and us are wrong..

  6. Big Raddy says:

My tupenny worth is that Arsenal are beyond the judgement of ordinary mortals, only the Almighty has that right. If AW chooses to play a weakened team in the CC, then he will find out if he was wrong at his day of judgement.

Sorry ….. felt like a bit of surreallism ! Must be the weather.

It would be great if Burnley played a reserve team tonight but I can’t see it. They will go into the game believing that they can get a point or 3.

  7. avenell says:

    Hi Raddy..

All I was trying to say was when Arsene gets the microphone stuck under his nose tonight, he will no doubt be asked the question about Wolves..

He should think carefully about his answer.

  8. Rasputin says:

I’ve found the proof that Jurgen Klinsmann and Arsene are the same man (turn the sound off and have a look at this) 😛

  9. Big Raddy says:

    Depends upon the result Ave.

  10. Andy P says:

    Hi Avenell,
Yes you are right, there is an impact in Arsenal fielding junior gunners against olympiacos, however where i disagree with you completely is that it has no impact on ARSENAL’s champions league because they were already guaranteed first place. AND it is expected that they could have taken a result from the game.

Wolves however, are in a completely different situation, they are close to the relegation zone and they threw a match. There was NO CHANCE that they would have taken anything from the game.

Also as Arsenal grow most of their players in house, where are the players going to get match time from?
Arsene has to take every opportunity to get his teams really critical match practice

  11. Big Raddy says:

Spot on Rasp. OExcept Jurgen doesn’t wipe his nose with his right index finger!

  12. avenell says:

Hi Andy.. Welcome to Avenell Road..

I have to disagree, Man U had several players out and were there for the taking, they have lost 4 times this season. I watched the first half and they was terrible.

If Wolves can beat the Spuds away they had a good chance of a least a draw at OT.

I know it had no impact on Arsenal but it could have done on Standard.. The principle is the same Arsenal and Wolves threw the game..

What sort of League is it when you can choose the team you want to lose to?

  13. London says:

Call yourself an Arsenal supporter? Get in the car it’s only a fourteen hour round trip Lol

Interesting post: I think before I read it I was probably looking down my nose at Wolves thinking tut tut, naughty boys, that was unsportsmanlike but after, I realised, that we are as guilty as they are.

  14. London says:

Although Andy does have a point, we had already finished top…I think

  15. Rasputin says:

If we are viewing the fielding of weakened teams in the same light as the diving debate, should we consider the sort of pre-match statements that SAF makes that are calculated to wind up the opposition prior to big games also as a sort of cheating? or even the ‘cold showers’ in the dressing rooms etc etc. It is possible that the tension created in the famous KK outburst was what lost them the title and certainly Raffas reaction to Fergies little dig lead to a run of 9 disappointing results for pool.

  16. rico says:

    Evening all

Nice one ave, but I am with the theory that any manager can play what team he likes when he likes…

Last night I bet old Mick Mc thought they would lose any way and so why not keep a strong team for the weekend which coul be classed as a six pointer for them, and one they are more likely to win..

as for our CL game, I am glad the kids played, we won the group so it didnt matter, we have so many injuries why go and risk one of our first team players in that game, like someone here said back then, had Cesc or TV etc played and got injured, Arsene would have been slated for playing them…

  17. avenell says:

    Hi Rico..

But if every team can decide which games to throw, how is that in keeping with the spirit of the game.

It could mean the end of the Premiership as we know it.
How would you feel if every team that played against Man U except Liverpool, Chelsea and us play a weakened team?
Then every team plays us at full strength, doesn’t create a very fair playing field to me.

If we lose the Premiership to Man U by the one or 2 points that Wolves may of taken off Man U last night, I consider that that is unfair too.

What right does McCarthy have to give Man U an unfair advantage?

  18. avenell says:

If you supported Standard Liege and they one there last group game then yes it did matter.

That could have cost Standard a lot of money and glory.

  19. rico says:

But in reality ave, Manure aren’t the spuds – Wolves wouldn’t have won that game last night no matter what team they put out – imho.

Had it have been at Wolves home ground I bet a stronger team would have been played.. I can’t spell Moulineu 😉 😉

We have ‘rested’ players in the PL before, only when we do it, it backfires 😦

  20. avenell says:

In fact I would say that it reminds me of the thing in formula 1 where the QPR boss got banned for making a member of his team crash on purpose.

  21. rico says:

But ave, I don’t care about the other teams, I care about us.

Had we have picked up injuries to Cesc, TV, Gallas, Sagna, AA etc, I would have been fuming. That would be something that could see us win nothing…

  22. avenell says:

Spurs could have beat that Man U team last night they were rubbish..

Man U have lost to Burnley and Fulham why couldn’t Wolves try for a draw?

  23. avenell says:

But it could affect us if Man U win the title by a point..

  24. avenell says:

If we were in second place.. 😉

  25. rico says:

So be it then ave, I would do exactly the same as a manager, protect my players and go all out to win the games i knew we had a chance in…

After all, to stay in the PL will give Wolves an awful lot of money…

I live by, look after your own and let others look after themselves..

  26. Rasputin says:

I’m not agreeing with ave here (sorry ave) but the one ‘weakened team’ selection that still gripes with me was leaving AA out of the starting lineup in the FA cup semi last year. His reasoning was that it would give the team confidence in the CL league to prove they could win without AA – backfired bigtime!! 😦

  27. avenell says:

It will backfire on him anyway..

90% of Wolves fans were singing they want there money back. So he has pissed off there own support.
60,000 Man U fans were cheated out of a decent game.

Arsenal, Man City, and all the other big teams should try extra hard to beat Wolves now.

  28. avenell says:

I was pissed off with that too Rasp..

But we was the only team that suffered.. Wolves throwing a game affects teams outside of the two teams involved in the match last night.

  29. rico says:

That is a different story though ave, MM should have told his fans what he would be doing and dealt with it in the right way, just like all us know that we will have a youth side in the CC..

If it makes us play better against Wolves, is that a bad thing??

Rasp, that still infuriates me too – gggrrrrr

  30. Rasputin says:

I do agree with ave that what Wolves did was wrong. I just don’t think it compares with the times we have rested players for reasons other than ‘we know we’re gonna lose’

By the way ave – you missed an opportunity with the headline …. it should have read “Sheep in Wolves Clothing” 😛

  31. Rasputin says:

Or have the tabloids beaten me to it? 😉

  32. avenell says:

I thought sport was about some sort of fairness.

I know that is idyllic in this day and age.. but throwing games is a step too far imo..

I like it Rasp.. too much reading the Sun..lol..

  33. rico says:

I just like to argue with ave Rasp 😉

  34. Rasputin says:

I never get past page 3 ave 🙄

  35. avenell says:

I always read papers from the back.. that’s what football does to you..

  36. rico says:

Trust you Rasp, that’s why things go ‘tits up’ 😉 😉

    Off for dinner

  37. London says:

“Sheep in Wolves Clothing” oooooohhhhhh that’s good

  38. JonJon says:

good post ave and a hot topic for a mass debate…

from a baised point of view it was totally out of order..manure were on the back of a defeat at home and have a bit of a makeshift defence…they were there for the taking and with wolves being on the back of an away win and with us needing manure to dop points they should have gone for it, 😉

from a neutral point of view- who cares…all the top teams do it..us included…i was talking to a leeds fan today at work and he couldnt give a shit..he said all the big teams do it all the time so why should it matter when a little team does it…its a squad game and wolves have a massive match at the weekend where the points are easier to get than what they where last night so he understood why they did it…which is a fair point…i think i tried to touch on both points last night…

from a football point of veiw its morally wrong…aves already touched on this…

but id like to point out that teams like manure, liverpool and us, etc..do it from time to time because when you think about it all the top teams have probably around 70 fixtures every season in all comps…if you include all the top internationals in their squads you are looking at about 80 games for a teams first 11…its obvious that at any chance they can they will field a weakend team ( like we did against the greeks) at any oportunity to protect from burnout…

if we compare that to wolves they probably have few international players and are probably looking at around 45 fixtures a season in all comps..they wont make it to many quarters, semis or finals and they dont play in europe..so the excuse of resting players doesnt really compare to that of a team such as us…

its a bit of a sit on the fence one for me but i think mcarthey should have played his best squad…

and at the end of the day its all about the fans..i doubt they would have been happy forking out 50 quid plus travel expenses to watch their reserve team get a pounding…they can stay at home and pay a fiver for that… 😉

  39. avenell says:

Hi Jonjon.. but you are not neutral if Man U win the league over us by one point..

I know it would be funny, but how would you feel if you were the spuds and you miss out on a CL spot by the one point over Man U?
Wolves have played against both teams yet thrown one of the games.

Wolves have been judge and jury over who qualifies for the CL..
Throw the book at them.. Like you say Wolves only have about 50 games a season to play.

Burnley won’t rest any players and they have less time to recover.

  40. avenell says:

And I don’t ever remember us sending a team out in the Prem that wasn’t capable of winning.

Even at the end of the season we don’t change all 10 outfield players.

  41. avenell says:

On another topic.. How the hell can the Spuds get a ground that isn’t built yet into the World Cup bid?

We need to grow some balls and say, if you don’t choose the emirates now, If the spuds building site isn’t finished your not using ours..

  42. avenell says:

If you are about Friere, hello mate.. your not banned..

Get on and have a chat I have missed ya! 🙂

  43. peachesgooner says:

    Hi all

    ave – interesting viewpoint.

I didn’t see that us playing the kids against Olympiakos was unfair to S Liege until you pointed that out. Obviously that wasn’t the agenda when Arsene chose his team but I can that as a consequence.

MM didn’t think that he was handing Man U an unfair advantage by his team selection, he was protecting his players for the weekend – exactly as Arsene did.

There has been debate on talksport all day about this. The Premiership is a competition and what MM was uncompetetive.

I think you’re taking it a bit far to say that Wolves were judge and jury only because that wasn’t their intention.

  44. peachesgooner says:

It seemed to me that the Emirates wasn’t included but I heard the list and it is included as one of the London venues.

They’re going nuts about Milton Keynes being picked on talksport

  45. avenell says:

Thanks Peaches.. But Wolves could have rested the first team against the Spuds not the other way around.. If those 3 points make the difference in anyway at the end of the season then McCarthy was the one who decided it unfairly..

  46. avenell says:

    Peaches it’s Wembley/Emirates.. or Wembley/Shite Hart Lane..

It seems to me that the Spuds building site is ahead of a ground that is already in place..

  47. JonJon says:

good job im not neutral then init??? 😉

of course im totally biased..with a tad reasoning.. 😉

  48. peachesgooner says:

Get real ave – is the spud ground going to be built – will it match the Emirates for accessability if it does get built and its in the middle of Tottenham for goodness sake 😦 😦 😦

  49. avenell says:

Is it snowing oop norf JJ?

  50. peachesgooner says:

Biased is good – its the biased views that need to be heard by the ignorant 😆

  51. avenell says:

Peaches … so why choose it?

They are even putting the pasty munching inbred town of Plymouth forwards.. ffs..

  52. JonJon says:

i think any team we pick play the same way anyway…

weve sent reserve teams out against teams like wigan and give them a hiding…

id even say the team we picked for the CL match was a team capable of winning..we had chances and only lost one nil…

the way i see it is that liege had 6 matches to qualify, even if theyd have won their last game they would have no reason to complain… we’d done our job so we were entitled to give the fringe players a go…

  53. avenell says:

The season isn’t over yet though.. and we have 38 games to win the League..

But if all teams take the same attitude against man u and not us we would have no chance of winning the title.

Teams shouldn’t go around choosing who to be competitive against and who they want to lose for definate to.

  54. JonJon says:

no but its bloody freezing..i could of gone tonight..i got offered a last minute deal on a ticket but i cant make it… 😦

  55. avenell says:

Turf moor is one of the coldest ground because it’s high up.. I’m sure I read that somewhere..

  56. JonJon says:

    yup agree..

but what goes around comes around though…i hope we win the league with a game to spare and then we throw our last game to rest players for the CL final and its wolves relegation rivals who we throw it to.. lol

    sweet sweet karma..

  57. JonJon says:

ive never been to turf moor..im going to try to get to a few games after new year though now things are starting to settle down at my end…things arent sorted but my head is if you know what i mean??

im ready for action again..and beer 😉

  58. avenell says:

I think this could be Wolves meltdown like that tosser Brown who gave Hull a HT team talk on the pitch at MC..

  59. avenell says:

    6.58.. good well done..

  60. avenell says:

    Almunia
    Sagna
    Gallas
    TV
    Silvestre
    Song
    Diaby
    Fab
    Nasri
    AA
    The 😦 Walc 😦 tt

  61. avenell says:

Portsmouth are nearly giving in agaist Chelsea 7 changes.. thanks Avram..

  62. peachesgooner says:

Its not about sending out a weakened team, its about sending out a team that has no hope………

  63. avenell says:

Where is the fine line drawn though?

  64. avenell says:

Haha Rafa has dropped the £18 million OG man.. 🙂

  65. Big Raddy says:

I agree Av. When we beat Burnley tonight, the game with Wolves will hold even more importance to Burnley, and I hope they smash them.

I have never liked McCarthy, though he did a fine job with Roy Keane !

  66. peachesgooner says:

So now all the smaller teams are going to do it aren’t they….thats why something needs to be done……

  67. peachesgooner says:

Hi Raddy – how are you?

  68. Big Raddy says:

OK team. I understand the choice of Diaby over Nasri.

Ave. I think Theo is great. He needs games and how can he improve and get back to the player that excited us so much less than a year ago, if he doesn’t get pitch time?

  69. peachesgooner says:

Yes ave you’re right its a fine line but MM crossed it good and proper……..

  70. avenell says:

Cheers Raddy, Peaches. that is exactly what I have been saying.

  71. peachesgooner says:

Is Theo even on the bench

  72. Big Raddy says:

Brilliant thanks Peaches. How is the foot?

  73. avenell says:

Watch Theo closely Raddy no control, no workrate never closes the full back down..
Nasri is playing.. it’s Denilson out isn’t it?

  74. peachesgooner says:

Ok ave so how would you draw up a rule to stop it happening……

Raddy – my foot is RUBBISH …..thanks for asking 🙂

  75. avenell says:

Peaches the team is up there ^^^^^ 7.08

  76. peachesgooner says:

There’ll be a top 7 or 8 teams and all the bottom 7 or 8 teams will always play weakened sides against them to protect themselves from the drop…….that’ll win the admiration of the rest of the world for the Premiership

  77. peachesgooner says:

Oh I see…….the 😦 is because hes in the team….I forgot it was you that posted ave 😆

  78. avenell says:

Peaches The answer to the problem is difficult.. But when a club puts out a team that has played less than 50 first team games or Prem games between them you just know that is not the strongest side..

Other strongest teams are debatable I agree..

  79. JonJon says:

    good team..under the circumstances…

pressures on diaby and theo to perfrom tonight..diaby needs to show us how strong he makes that midfield and theo needs to show hes got more than pace..

tough test away at burnley but they need to produce…

    no drogba for chelsea???

  80. rico says:

Guess I am on my own with my views then 😉 😉

Come on theo, earn your wage tonight….

  81. avenell says:

Are you going to be watching Rico?

  82. peachesgooner says:

rico – I’m with you on Theo, I want him to be played up front and to prove all the doubters wrong

  83. rico says:

Hi peaches, its in him, I know it – his old PE told me 😉

But we have no chance of seeing it all the time he is stuck on the wing..

  84. avenell says:

    So do I Peaches..
But the project has to improve..
We are paying good money a week for a injury prone player that hasn’t produced since the Birmingham game where Dudu broke his leg..

Has he had a decent game since?

  85. rico says:

    I can’t ever get a link ave, so sadly I won’t be watching 😦

  86. avenell says:

Arsene for a clever man, you’re a feckin eeedyut … get that clown Almunia out of the goal and back to Spain. TV wouldn’t have conceded the pen if he’d been properly positioned. He’s like an epileptic juggler everytime he tries to catch the ball.

How many more points / trophies has he got to lose us until Arsene gets the message ….. he’s crap …..

And Theo’s a waste of space too … and Diaby’s as crap as ever …. can’t pass wind

  121. rico says:

Hi JJ, things not going well for Theo then 😦

  122. Rasputin says:

rico … I’ve just got into moderation twice with ranting comments and the wrong address…. would you mind deleting them for me 😳

  123. rico says:

    Blimey Rasp…. 😉

  124. JonJon says:

no rico, sorry to say the yummy one isnt being very yummy football wise..i dont think hes touched the ball yet

  125. JonJon says:

almunias been shakey and diabys been quiet too…burnley really got at us after the pen..we look really rocky..lets hope wenger kicks them up the arse again..

  126. avenell says:

This is what Theo said after sunday..

Talks the talk but no walkies..

“Results like this show we are no pushovers,” Walcott added. “Going 1-0 down, we showed great spirit and showed how passionate we are about the game. We wanted to give something back to the fans because they were fantastic for us. They were like our 12th man. It is still very early in the season. It is great to get three points and gradually get closer to Chelsea and Manchester United. We have a game in hand but we must look to Wednesday [at Burnley], aim to get the three points and we will be right there at the end of the season.”

  127. rico says:

just typical, and cesc injured aswell – what a cra* night so far

Diaby is on the new widget, but no-one has seen it… mind you its been there three weeks 😦 😦

  128. JonJon says:

walcott really cant dribble can he?? thats was pathetic

  129. JonJon says:

on a brighter note pompey have scored..

  130. JonJon says:

you can tell by gallas body language he has no faith in manny whatsoever

  131. rico says:

Im on to it now Rasp 😉

  132. avenell says:

    Done it rico sorry…

  133. rico says:

There are none there Rasp, maybe ave has sorted them..

  134. Rasputin says:

    Thanks ave / rico 😉

I’m sorry, I was so angry …. its the predicatbility of it all. Arsene has always had these blind spots towards certain players.

Doea anyone know the nature of Cescs injury? He wasn’t showing any signs of discomfort when he left the pitch … I’m guessing at hamstring

  135. JonJon says:

    ALMUNIA…!!!!! aaaaarrrrgggghhhh

  136. Big Raddy says:

Almunia’s kicking is a joke. He just puts us straight back under pressure

  137. JonJon says:

i just laugh when theo tries to dribble now…its funny

  138. Big Raddy says:

    Theo is having a mare

  139. JonJon says:

    hahahaha

    and wenger gives him evils..

  140. avenell says:

Why not try Wilshere just for a change if it doesn’t work go back to Theo..

  141. JonJon says:

manny gets beat on near post again..lucky theres a post there..

  142. Big Raddy says:

Diaby….. a waste of space tonight. We can win this

    Come on Arsenal.

  143. avenell says:

Jonjon you must be Mystic Meg.. or my stream is 5 mins behind the times..

  144. JonJon says:

well theos gone now so we might score

  145. rico says:

    Its hard to bare…

Got to go all, see you tomorrow, hopefully with the right result in the bag….

  146. Big Raddy says:

FFS Get AA on the ball

  147. avenell says:

He certanly showed how to fight for his Arsenal shirt tonight..

  148. JonJon says:

now i know why he doesnt touch the ball for ages..cos nobody wants to give him it…lol..hes like that kid in the playground that gets picked last..

  149. JonJon says:

we aint scoring lads..if anything we’ll lose this

  150. avenell says:

The one who wears platform shoes to school and not Gola Harriers.. one for you Raddy..

  151. JonJon says:

il settle for a draw at this point…

shakey Goalie, getting beat in midfeild and nothing in attack…

  152. JonJon says:

manny manny mannt you lucky bastard..just fuck off now..

  153. Big Raddy says:

CoCo has to go. He didn’t know it was offside

  154. avenell says:

We need the points JJ.. c’mon just a handball goal like Thierry’s would do.. 😉

    Just joking Irish..

  155. Big Raddy says:

    We have completely lost shape.

Get a grip boys. We can do this.

  156. JonJon says:

what did wenger say about 50-50’s against pool

    its happened all game tonight..bottlers

  157. JonJon says:

we lost it…weve gone one dimensional and burnly are all over us..fucking burnley..

  158. avenell says:

The thing is JJ as soon as one player stops going in for 50/50’s it spreads through the team.. Theo doesn’t bother .. then Diaby doesn’t bother..

That’s what I like about TV and liked about Flamini.. it’s natural and it catches on throughout the team..

  159. Big Raddy says:

When we cross we have one player in the box to 4 of theirs.

Nasri & Diaby must get in the box

  160. JonJon says:

weve got the worst keeper in the PL..id take anyone over that tit

  161. JonJon says:

spot on ave..flamini was the master of it…and it spreads like you say..

  162. Rasputin says:

What are our players scared of? Why can’t Wenger instil confidence in them? We were playing like gods after we went ahead against the run of play … they get one back and we’re running scared. It’s pathetic…

  163. Big Raddy says:

    Better from Song

  164. JonJon says:

    yeah even green…

but fabianski has to play now..

stick theo in the reserves and stick manny on a plane

  165. JonJon says:

chelsea have scord again so we need to respnd..

  166. Big Raddy says:

Eagles is the best player on the pitch at the moment.

    Someone effing SHOOT

  167. JonJon says:

i like what nasri did then ..dibble pass 3 players and then turn round and run back to where you started..

    no creativity..out of ideas..

  168. avenell says:

Flog Theo Fab Mannone and buy a keeper.. should get a good one for that dosh..
    Keep Chesney in reserve..

  169. JonJon says:

    were guna lose

  170. Rasputin says:

This team doesn’t believe it can win anything …. Eduardo’s lost all confidence too…..

  171. avenell says:

Eagles has been Burnley’s stand out player for the last couple of years imo.. if he can look that good at burnley he could be great in our system.. Too old now I guess..

  172. JonJon says:

if we win this it will go down as the greatest escape ever..we dont even deserve a draw..

  173. avenell says:

Were relying on one magic moment in a game now.. we are just not creating proper clear cut chances..

  174. Rasputin says:

No spine to the team. No balance. A lack of leadership.

  175. avenell says:

    good slick sideways passing..

  176. avenell says:

Wenger should get done by the FA for fielding a weak team….

  177. JonJon says:

my steam is the football first one..

i cant wait to watch it tonight and piss myself about how shit theo walcott really is

  178. Rasputin says:

Joking apart – this just isn’t good enough. At best 2 of their players would get into our side (GK and Eagles) and they are giving us a footballing lesson …. we are serious under-achievers ….

  179. Big Raddy says:

Shame our chance fell to WG. But we only deserve a point from this

    Not good

  180. Rasputin says:

That’s it. We’ve thrown away 2 points. We don’t deserve to win the prem. Arsene needs to take stock and reward players who perform and drop those who don’t.

  181. JonJon says:

we got totally outplayed..we didnt even deserve to draw..

well done to burnley…its give wenger something to think about in january..like a new winger GK midfielder striker…

i really thought some of these boys would come good but truth be told theres a handful that wouldnt make it into any team in the PL…

  182. Rasputin says:

Arsene won’t do anything JonJon – he never does. He’ll talk crap in the press conference and Arsenal.com will report it as though we’ve won….

  183. avenell says:

Waste of time winning at Dipperland if we can’t beat burnley or sunderland..

  184. JonJon says:

if he doesnt drop manny after that horror show then somethings wrong…

    4 throwins straight from kicks..
beat at the near post only saved by the post
stupid nothing meaningless dive that let the ball go under him that can only be matched by that stupid silly stunt he pulled at the weekend…

time to change GK mr wenger..cos this ones lost it and he aint getting it back any time soon

as for theo…PMSL..im sure he invented a new dribble in the sceond half..looked abit like he lost control under now pressure and the ball bounced off both feet into touch..but he meant it..it relieved the pressure on our defence even though the ball was in our final third..nice to see theo doing his defensive duties…but he has to make it look good seeing as though hes a superstar and all that…lol

  185. Big Raddy says:

I am still in shock. Not about the result but the manner of our play.

We are well used to teams playing 10 men behind the ball, yet we still try to play Plan A. Surely we have to try a shot or two? Ramsey and AA have scored from distance. Or play the ball around deeper and create space for the onrunning MF’s.

    It didn’t work tonight

  186. JonJon says:

if anyone has access to football first tonight i advise you watch it…its like a monty python scetch…im not even mad. the visions of theo trying to dribble has given me a stitch with laughter…im in tears..

wengers face was priceless,,theo just looked at him and wenger was looking back in disgust…then 1 minute later he was off..stick him in the fucking reserves where he belongs..or sell him..not that anyone would want him anymore…

  187. peachesgooner says:

That was so poor – we really looked outclassed by Burnley – I didn’t expect that…..

  188. JonJon says:

and whats happened to song?? gets his feet in abit of a tangle nowadays dont he..

  189. JonJon says:

    the spuds have smashed citeh…3-0

  190. peachesgooner says:

Just caught the end of the spurs game…..were they singing ‘Adebayor whats the score?’

  191. JonJon says:

we looked slow, lazy and really really bad…it was alot like the first half againt pool..only it went on for about 85 mins..

we had a good spell that lasted 5 mins and then burnly turned it on and we couldnt respond..

i know we have injuries but wenger has to pack it in with this playing players out of form bollox…

  192. JonJon says:

wengers got the money..we know he has it..

no more talk of this finding the right player horseshit…theres plenty out there..go get em..spend some cash and not on a 15 year old…

we need someone who ouzes class…

  193. JonJon says:

apparently the presenter on ATV has said cesc is off in the summer…definately not tom watt then? lol

  194. London says:

JJ your 9:59 and 10:01 sum the whole thing up. If your in the mood to write a report we wont be doubling up.

  195. JonJon says:

yeah i’ll do one..if nobody else has one??

  196. GunnerGav says:

I’ve spent the last two or three posts ranting about how shocking Walcott is and how much he lacks ability, awareness, strength, composure and aggresion out wide. Tonight was the final straw for me… poor doesn’t even describe how bad he is. I’m so frustrated watching him I want to burst into tears! On 63 minutes he contributed his best move of the game…. he went off! He either needs to be put in the reserves, banged out on loan or given his p45! At present I feel there is more chance of me growing another head than Walcott putting in a display! I will be shocked if he gets more than a 2 in tomorrows ratings… and thats just for dropping the yellow vapours! TWAT!

  197. JonJon says:

    gunnergav

i most admit the few comments you make on here make me chuckle…

you must pop by more often…your not alone mate i did a post on theos shitness the other day and that opinion hasnt changed…

he was pathetic again tonight..60k a week?? wonderkid?? bullshit!!!!

  198. GunnerGav says:

Thing is… Walcotts legs work quicker than his brain! But, his brain doesn’t work that quick so… his legs really are working double time and his brain hasn’t got the ability to catch up! Am I making sense????? His first instinct is to run when he gets the ball cause he thinks thats what he has to do, and it goes wrong from there!

Is he seriously on 60k a wk? I thought he was a 30-40k player. Usually at Arsenal you have to prove yourself before getting that sort of dough!

As much as I hate the souless money grabbing rat, that makes the Ashley Cole situation kind of stupid! Thats what Cole wanted and he had a Premiership winners medal, FA Cup and got to the Champs league final and was turned down flat and offered 55K – take it or leave it! Don’t make sense.

  199. JonJon says:

    nope gunnergav…it doesnt..

the last few years have baffled me when it comes to the contract side of things…

we allow cashley to leave over the sake of a few quid and we let flamini leave for nothing yet we give walcott whos done naff all in four years a massive hike…just for being fast..

and i understand you perfectly when you describe theos legs to brain ratio..personally i just think hes shit and thats the reason why hes shit..if you understand me.. 😉

  200. JonJon says:

and he isnt going to the world cup either cos lennon and SWP piss all over theo..

  201. GunnerGav says:

again another scenario the other year! For years Flamini grafted his nuts off, learnt his trade, played when asked in any position he was told. He finally broke into the first team, took his chance and established himself as a regular and worked hard for the team. He turned into a fantastic player for us. We seriously miss him and I would love to have him back.

Yet as u mentioned he leaves for free because we didn’t give him a payrise after he deserved one and that Togo whore gets a pay rise a few weeks later after holding the club to ransom. I know we have a wage structure and that is a good thing but lets give credit where credit is due.

  202. GunnerGav says:

lennon, SWP, Milner, Ashley Young, Downing (when fit) the list goes on. He isn’t going unless he gets a wond for xmas!

  203. JonJon says:

i like you GG..weve had this conversation on here many times before and my stance is the same one as yours..

lets not forget the fact that he played LB in the year we got to the CL final without conceeding and we repaid him by…..dropping him for the biggest game of his life for cole who wasnt even fit….

no wonder he pissed off to milan…

  204. JonJon says:

when you think about it we have some of the worst players in the PL in there positions who can only be regarded as the dreggs..

theos the worst wide player in the league and Almunias the worst keeper…

and they both get in our first team..unbelievable..

  205. Hoggmyster says:

    Hi Ave,

Good blog and i can see where you’re coming from but it still don’t sit well with me this whole “Wolves – let’s change our entire outfield team coz we’re gonna get beat anyway”!!!

Firstly, with arsenal and the whole CL business, we earned the right to field a weakend side in the last game as we had already won the group outright from our previous performances. Don’t kid yourself if you think Standard Lieage and every other team in the CL don’t already know that any team finishing top of the group with games spare won’t not then field a vastly weakend side.

  206. JonJon says:

    hi hoggmyster
