Here we go again then………..

The transfer window is soon to open and Arsene has said the he will be active during January. Each time the summer and winter sales come around he says the same old thing. We then all get our hopes up wondering who we are going to buy only to realise that when he says we will be active, he really means we will be selling!!

This time though I believe him, he needs to sit down and watch the game from Sunday over and over again, realise that had we have had a player up front who could score goals we could have buried the game even before the chavs had a shot on goal. Slight exaggeration maybe, but how many times to we play the possession game without an end product to convert the chances we create?

Again we are being linked with Chamakh and Horsey, the latter can take a run and jump ๐Ÿ˜‰ as far as I am concerned, but Chamakh, yes please. I wouldnโ€™t mind an ageing old striker aswell, bit like an Owen, knows where the net is and costs nothing. Another defender and we will be back on track.

I like this rumour, well the way its reported anyway – We have supposedly bid 30M Euros for Inter Milan player Mario Balotelli, Mourinho says, โ€˜ok, but give me Cesc Fabregas in the dealโ€™ โ€“ Way to go Jose!! Thatโ€™s exactly what our club need to do, that way if Cesc goes to Barca, we get Messi!

There could be a little truth in that Balotelli though as he and Jose have fallen out, but he is another young one, we need a few with old heads!

Shock horror โ€“ I would also sell Arshavin, he is getting on my nerves , Nasri talks about how happy he is with us, Arshavin says we are not good enough, well you may be right Audrey, but you have been one of our underperforming players so far this season and your four goals against the dippers have been long forgotten!

Let him go to Barca or Real Madrid and start playing Merida, Wilshere or any other of the young players who WANT to play for us, and feel proud to wear the shirt of Arsenal.

Tonight we will get to see a few of that kind as the pick and mix of the club travel up to face City. We wonโ€™t be coming back with any points for this match sadly, but we will be into the next round of the Carling Cup.

Honestly, thatโ€™s what I think, Senderos will put Lardy in his place, and Vela will show Toure just why he was sold. Toure is slow and passed it, and pace will do him every time, I even fancy a penalty against him, after all, we have all witnessed just how good he is at giving them away!

Off we go then, time to guess the team for tonight, guess the score, slate Lardy and Toure and sit and grin like Cheshire cats in about thirteen hours time ….. ๐Ÿ˜›

Arsรจne Wenger will keep faith with his tried and tested Carling Cup formula for the Quarter-Final at Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Traditionally in this competition, the Frenchman has fielded the cream of his up-and-coming talent plus a dash of experience.

So far this season, you could argue that Wenger has been able to put out slightly older teams than usual in the Carling Cup but, with injuries biting, the Arsenal manager is sticking with youth for the game at the City of Manchester Stadium.

โ€œIt will be a team that has a chance to win,โ€ he told Arsenal TV Online on Tuesday. โ€œBut as well, I want to give a fair chance to those [young] players who have waited for this game.

โ€œI believe we have a good mixture of experienced players and young players but we will play young players that is for sure. It will be a typical Carling Cup side. For example, you will see players like Craig Eastmond and Jack Wilshere.โ€

Meanwhile, Arsenal picked up one injury from the side beaten 3-0 by Chelsea. However that should not affect the squad for Saturdayโ€™s clash with Stoke City.

โ€œFrom Sunday we lost Sagna,โ€ he revealed. โ€œIt is an ankle problem but he should be OK for Saturday.โ€

    Morning Roadsters,

Super post rico – I wish the guy in my Avatar with his fingers to his lips would take his own advice – I may have to change my pic again. The only thing is I suppose, he is actually telling the truth, its just that we don’t know if he’s motivated by honesty or being mischievious to alert other ‘big clubs’ that he’s unhappy.

If we bought one player, I’m not sure I’d choose a striker?

I hope Raddy is reading – presumably he won’t think Arsene is having a ‘knee jerk’ reaction ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. London says:

    Morning Rico

Top post and I don’t think you are exaggerating when you say that with a top class striker we could have buried the game before the chavs even scored. We had all the possession but Eduardo didn’t make a single diagonal run and without an outlet up front everyone of our attacks broke down; his confidence seems to be in tatters, perhaps a goal or two will change all this but right now we have all the goal threat of a wet sheep.

If the team is going to be chosen from this can anyone tell me who is going to play left back?

Gunners (from): Fabianski, Gilbert, Senderos, Silvestre, Coquelin, Eastmond, Ramsey, Merida, Wilshere, Watt, Vela, Szczesny, Randall, Frimpong, Bartley, Sunu, Cruise, Emmanuel-Thomas.

  5. Rasputin says:

    Morning London,

rico – as usual, I contributed the last comment this morning on yesterday’s post ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I agree London, Dudu, Vela and Theo need match practice and hopefully a goal or two to restore their sharpness and confidence – oddly Theo has been left out. Going by the way he played on sunday, I wouldn’t class him as an important player who needs to be protected, just a potential match winner who needs games…..

  6. London says:

    Morning Rasp

I saw your last comment and I agree again about Walcott, play all three of them: Vela, Eduardo and Walcott

  7. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Nice to have you back rico – I chuckled at

when he says we will be active, he really means we will be selling!!

London – I think Eastmond played as a CB in the FA youth team so maybe he’ll play alongside Senderos and Tweety will play at LB……

    Morning Roadsters,

Apparently Arsene has conceded that we may need to buy a striker in January.

I find it hard to believe, but maybe itโ€™ll be a kick up the backside for Dudu, Vela and Theo โ€“ I hope to see Dudu and Vela playing tonight, they need the practice! Iโ€™m only sorry that Theo wonโ€™t get a run out too โ€“ why protect a player who is looking so out of sorts โ€“ surely he needs games?

  9. peachesgooner says:

    Whats happened to Nacer Barazite?

  10. rico says:

Morning Rasp, peaches and London ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks peeps, i liked the ‘run and jump’

Rasp, I am beginning to this AA wants out and kelsey has been spot on all along. Why can’t he just put his head down and get on with doing what he is supposed to be good at?

London, I was very dissapointed with Eduardo too, I am beginiing to think he won’t get better either ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Soon I will be desperate for Nikki to be back, actually I already am…

  11. rico says:

peaches, he is injured and out for the season probably

  12. peachesgooner says:

rasp – agree totally about Theo, he should be getting an hour at least but the boss won’t risk him will he …

  13. rico says:

Agree on Walcott, he needs games, not resting – he was dreadful on sunday too

  14. kelsey says:

no one is talking to me on the other channel and i reproduce my thoughts here.

Theo cost us 5 million rising to 12 million is now on 60k a week and 4 years on might work out as our most disapointing purchase.

Hughes is on a hiding to nothing as he will be gone by the Summer if not sooner.

I agree about the so called valuable experience being a load of cobbles, because if we win we get United, chelsea or Villa which in all probability will be another embarressment.

AW now says he will buy a striker in January (if the price is right) whatever that means, when IMO he should be looking at the defence and keeper.

Andy gray made a good point on Sunday that we matched them in midfield but neither nasri or Arshavin tracked back for the two opening goals.

We have so many players that are clones of others, therefore if he subs one for another nothing much changes.

With regards to Eduaro,he wasnโ€™t even a regular when he got tragically injured, and he has lost at least a yard of pace and may not recover to where he was.Rosicky,is another that canโ€™t be relied on after nearly two years out,and he needs time.Arshavin, all the wrong vibes coming from him, maybe he will be off sooner than you think.Vela, many rave about him, but AW hardly ever plays him,and IMO he is out of his depth in the big games that matters.Sagna, looks like a one season wonder, and Almunia will never cut it as a top 4 keeper.Song has improved but itโ€™s also a bit of an optical illusion as no one else who is fit has, except possibly Gibbs, and vermaelen was a great buy.just look at our fixture list over the next month, how can we be confident.
canโ€™t blame AW for the injuries but he has had 4 years to re address the problem, and also he just doesnโ€™t get it that one canโ€™t walk the ball into the net at every chance.

is shooting not allowed from outside the box,Nasri used to do it.So near yet now I feel we are further away. Rant over. off for a game, laters.

  15. Rasputin says:

Hi kelsey – I’ll respond to you …. even though you never reciprocate ๐Ÿ˜ณ

It’s all true….. I said before sunday that the players all needed to play near to their potential and sadly none did – why?

We train the shooting instinct out of players and replace it with fear … why?

I also have said and therefore agree that if we bought one player, I’m not sure it would be a striker – one of our ‘pretenders’ has to come good soon surely! We need help in the defence most urgently, whether in the form of a top keeper, back-up CB or strong defence minded midfielder.

  16. London says:

    Morning kelsey

Another interesting read, I have a question: who said this?

“I agree about the so called valuable experience being a load of cobbles”

Who are you agreeing with? I am not sure that anyone on this channel agrees with this statement.

My own thoughts are that the CC is a very valuable place for the younger players to get experience. I don’t care if we win tonight, it would be nice of course, but the focus should be on the EPL and the CL, yes I admit that the challenge to the EPL looks in tatters at the moment but the idea of giving up on it and shifting all our attention to the CC makes no sense to me what so ever.

All I want to see tonight is for the players to show pride in the shirt that they wear and I will be happy.

  17. London says:

Fabianski….come on down….this is your night.

  18. Rasputin says:

I’ve heard that Senderos is not in the squad ….. can anyone tell me if this is true, and if so… why?

  19. peachesgooner says:

Hi kelsey – a lot of good points there….

The non-shooting is ridiculous and we waste so many opportunities.

Didn’t Arsene say recently something like its difficult to get offensive players to remember to defend – well you pay their wages bloody well tell them that they have to remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Song is who we have and its a good job he has improved…

Eduardo needs to play with a partner not as a lone striker but does also seem to have forgotten how to be a team player.

The 4-3-3 is not going to work without a player strong enough to hold the ball up.

  20. peachesgooner says:

Heres the squad from arse.com – rasp you’re right no Senderos, I’m gonna have to stop calling him Phillipe if hes not gonna play ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    Tomas Rosicky
    Carlos Vela
    Aaron Ramsey
    Alex Song
    Mikael Silvestre
    Jack Wilshere
    Lukasz Fabianski (GK)
    Vito Mannone (GK)
    Emmanuel Eboue
    Armand Traore
    Fran Merida
    Kyle Bartley
    Francis Coquelin
    Craig Eastmond
    Emmanuel Frimpong
    Kerrea Gilbert
    Mark Randall
    Sanchez Watt

  21. London says:

This might sound a bit defeatist but if Senderos is not in the squad then I interpret that to mean that Wenger is saying that the CC run ends here. There is no doubt in my mind that he views this competition as a hindrance when it goes any further than this round.

  22. rico says:

    Hi kelsey,

I think we need three players still, keeper, defender and striker.

Four would be ideal as we still need a HM imho, but I know AW will play denilson/diaby when Song goes to ACON..

Rasp – you are spot-on, if our players walked the walk instead of talking themselves up, we would be laughing, but they don’t seem able to get themseleves ‘up for it’ – we lack a bit of grit and guts…

  23. London says:

Senderos must have found a club to go to in January and doesn’t want to risk injury; this must be the reason otherwise surely he would be in the shop window tonight.

  24. rico says:

Grit and Guts = passion for the club???

TV showed that on the own goal, he was not very happy!

  25. rico says:

    Is he not playing London??

  26. peachesgooner says:

    I did that already rico……

  27. peachesgooner says:

  31. peachesgooner says:

I’ve checked on arse.com and Philippe isn’t injured so whats going on there?

You have to pay his wages so why not play him????

He was last seen on the bench at Sunderland…..

    …very strange……

  32. rico says:

    I deleted mine peaches ๐Ÿ˜‰

Senderos must be off, maybe becuase he had a good game against the dippers last round, another club has shown interest. Arsene doesn’t want to play him again in case he is dreadful and the other club lower their offer ๐Ÿ˜‰

  33. London says:

“Arsene doesnโ€™t want to play him again in case he is dreadful and the other club lower their offer”

    Thats funny ๐Ÿ˜‰

  34. rico says:

    London ๐Ÿ˜›

You up for a win tonight then?

  35. Rasputin says:

    2 odd decisions…

Risking Traore (unless Cliche is going to be fit for the weekend)

Leaving out Senderos (unless any of the unlikely hypotheses put forward by my fellow roadsters are true!!)

  36. rico says:

Gilbert could play LB Rasp ?

  37. Rasputin says:

Hi rico – do you mean tonight or in the prem?

I think Traore was one of the few at the weekend who performed close to his potential and he wasn’t to blame for any of the goals.

  38. kelsey says:

    Rasputin my dear old fellow.

You say goodbye and I say hello
    Hello hello
I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello
    Hello hello
I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello.

Apologies I was in a hurry and in fact I am out again now, just popped home for a bite to eat.

London, you are quite right got blogs mixed up.The jist was that the reserves can play to get experience, but in all probability they will lose tonight against a first team city therefore how much experience do they really get.

my prediction 2-0 defeat, sorry but i can’t let my heart rule my head.i would be delighted to be wrong.

    Hello rico,
missed you for a couple of days, have you been pooper scooping, I have a fine arts degree in that. Speak later.

  39. rico says:

Tonight Rasp and leave Traore on the bench in case we are defending a 2-0 lead with 10 seconds to go ๐Ÿ˜‰

  40. Rasputin says:

If Senderos is off, its a pretty dumb time to sell him with the ACN coming up and we should consider giving Gallas and TV a rest at some stage. It wouldn’t make that much difference to the player to wait until the summer for a move. As you say, I thought he and Sylvestre played well together against pool.

  41. Rasputin says:

I hope that’s the case with Traore rico….

  42. rico says:

    Hi kelsey,

We have got really lucky as the pups are already sleeping at night for about seven hours and then ask to ‘go outside’ first thing in the morning to have a look around ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

My toes and slippers though are torn to shreds…

  43. Rasputin says:

    kelsey …. ๐Ÿ˜†

Day after day, alone on the hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still.
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he’s just a fool.
And he never gives an answer …..

    BTW – I’m not calling you a fool ๐Ÿ™„

  44. rico says:

Rasp maybe he is just in the naughty corner… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I think the tables will turn tonight, Citeh will ‘do an us’ and believe the game is won if they just turn up against our kids!

But our kids seem to want to win more, they did it against a strong ‘pool side and tonight I think they will show mental strength, good spirit and be very physically strong ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

The right mix tonight could very well get us into the semi-finals ๐Ÿ™‚

Will Song play in defence, or alongside Ramsey in the midfield??

  45. rico says:

Rasp – I think Traore is a ‘just in case’ squad member, the way our luck has been going with the LB…

  46. Rasputin says:

I’m strangely optimistic about tonight rico. The paradox is that some of the ‘youngsters’ that used to play without fear in the CC are now first teamers who seem to crumble under pressure and we have a new generation of kids coming through who play with equal freedom. I remember the CC destroying a full strength Wigan 3 nil and the first team strugglingh against them in the prem a couple of weeks later..

  47. rico says:

    Fabianski

    Eboue Bartley/Song Silvestre Gilbert

    Ramsey Song Merida

    Wilshere Watt Vela

I thought Merida would be banned after his sending off? Did we win an appeal against it, or doesn’t it count as different ‘leagues’..

  48. Rasputin says:

Its right to play Ramsey, but we shouldn’t risk Song. He didn’t have his best game against chelsea but he is still a better DM than Denilson.

Here’s an analogy … imagine you are locked in a cage with a tiger and a tortoise and you have a gun with only one bullet left in the chamber … and you shoot the tortoise ….. not a good idea!!!

  49. rico says:

I wonder if it is becuase we have a few brits in there Rasp, club born and bred??

  50. rico says:

I wouldn’t Rasp, but he is in the squad so we just know Arsene will play him – I think Arsene secretly wants to win this competition ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would go with either Frimpong or Coquelin

  51. rico says:

    Rasp, I couldn’t shoot either ๐Ÿ˜‰

  52. Rasputin says:

    Ok – how’s about a carrot and a psychopathic banana? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  53. Rasputin says:

rico – was that the actual team you put up, or your preference?

  54. Rasputin says:

Here’s a theory … he’s playing Song because he’s going to rest him against Stoke to give Denilson practice at the lone DM role he will be occupying whilst Song is at the ANC – you must be proud of me there London ๐Ÿ˜›

  55. London says:

Makes complete sense to me Rasp ๐Ÿ˜‰

  56. Rasputin says:

There are some clever buggers on here ……

“ATLETICO MADRID are thinking over a January raid on Arsenal for centre-back Philippe Senderos.
The Switzerland international has made it plain he wants regular first-team football before the World Cup finals but has been frozen out since the arrival of Thomas Vermaelen in the summer.”

  57. rico says:

    My Arsene’s team Rasp

  58. London says:

By the way, if Senderos is off then I feel certain that we will buy and also feel certain that his replacement would have already been lined up.

The other by the way is that I wouldn’t mind Horsey for the rest of the season.

  59. rico says:

Split decision Rasp, bananna ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

  60. rico says:

He wants to go to the Spuds though London….

  61. London says:

WENGER: Swooping for another top teen
    By Adam Marshall, 02/12/2009

ARSENAL are close to finalising a move for another promising youngster with Zezinho confirming he is set to join Arsene Wenger’s Gunners.
The 17-year-old has told pals he is fulfilling a dream by moving to London after revealing everything is in place for him to leave Juventude.

The Serie B side rejected an offer from the Gunners in July but they have decided not to stand in his way.

The latest offer is believed to be the third one from Wenger, such is his determination to land the talented teenager.

After already training in front of Wenger earlier in the year, he did enough to impress the shrewd Frenchman and will find another Brazilian at the club in Denilson, after already obtaining the midfielder’s autograph the last time they met.

All the paperwork is expected to be finalised in the near future, allowing the deal to be completed when the transfer window reopens.

Zezinho has intimated that Arsenal were the only club in for him but described any other suitors as “boring” despite some reports claiming Liverpool were keen on snapping him up.

  64. rico says:

He does annoy me so very much!!

Andrey Arshavin has seen Arsenal slide 11 points behind Chelsea
    Wednesday December 2,2009

ANDREY ARSHAVIN has delivered a damning verdict on Arsenalโ€™s current state, admitting the crushing 3-0 defeat by Chelsea has left him doubting their ability to live with the big boys.

And Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has finally conceded his squad is not strong enough by confirming he will be in the market for a striker during the January transfer window.

But his search will not be easy, as he has already been warned off two potential targets โ€“ Bordeauxโ€™s Marouane Chamakh and Mario Balotelli of Inter Milan.

Back-to-back Premier League defeats, against Sunderland and Chelsea, have left Arsenal trailing the leaders by 11 points and behind local rivals Spurs in fourth place.

โ€œWhat I feel bitter about is that we lose in all the big matches,โ€ said Andrey Arshavin.

โ€œThat is disturbing and also lets certain doubts creep into my mind. Chelsea are now 11 points ahead of us and they look the strongest team. They have attacking players who can make use of opponentsโ€™ slightest defensive mistakes. Didier Drogba
is the strongest in the world. He and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.โ€

With Robin van Persie ruled out for five months, Wenger will now use the window to try to find an able deputy after watching Eduardo struggle in the central- striker role.

  65. rico says:

I have just had a thought, wouldn’t it be just wonderful if tonight we beat the Shitty on their turf, Hughes then gets summoned to the big man’s office, and he gets sacked!!

    See the headlines..

‘Arsenal kids cane City, and teacher gets the sack’ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜›

  66. rico says:

    Grrrrr

Sell him to Barca, and include one of their players in the deal, can’t think of any player of theirs that springs to mind though ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Russia international Arshavin complained the Gunners lack both strength and depth following their crushing 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday.

‘Arsene Wenger needs to buy new players – and expensive ones too,’ claimed the former Zenit St Petersburg captain.

‘Why? because all the talented and inexpensive players are already with us at Arsenal.’

Arshavin is already upset his country failed to qualify for the World Cup finals and he has previously admitted his dream is to play for Barcelona.

The Russian has yet to hit the form on a consistent basis which persuaded Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to pay Zenit ยฃ15m to sign the midfielder but that won’t stop top clubs in Spain and Italy from preparing big money moves for the 28-year-old if they feel he is unsettled in London.

  67. Rasputin says:

You’re not happy with all things Russian then rico ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Watch out for my new gravatar ….

  68. rico says:

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Davis concurs with Arsene Wenger that the Gunners must sign a striker in January to replace the injured Robin van Persie. The Highbury hero, who made over 350 appearances for the Gunners, also made clear that whoever is signed needs to be a physical force like Chelseaโ€™s Didier Drogba and Liverpoolโ€™s Fernando Torres while hinting that Sunderlandโ€™s Kenwyne Jones and West Ham Unitedโ€™s Carlton Cole could fit the bill.

    Speaking to givemefootball.com, Davis stated:

โ€œI think they need a physical presence up there but letโ€™s be realistic they are not going to get the likes of a Drogba, a Torres or Ibrahimovic at Barcelona.

โ€œThey could perhaps consider players like Carlton Cole or Kenwyne Jones but they are players that would need time to develop and settle in and Arsenal need a short-term fix.โ€

You know what guys and gals, two seasons ago I suggested we should go for Jones, and right now I think either of these two would fit it just nicely.. Jones is a big strong lad and would be great alongside Nikki B ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Height and strength together….

  69. kelsey says:

    Hello again rico and Rasp.

You know my gut feelings about Arshavin, but it is interesting by reading around how different people put a totally different slant on his latest outburst.

What i will say is that recently I have never heard Wenger publically declare that he is going to sign a striker.Senderos most probably will go in January as he needs regular football before the World cup,how things change he was once touted as our future captain, but if he goes where is the replacement.

Finally why isn’t Walcott in the squad tonight, surely he needs match time. All very strange.

  70. rico says:

๐Ÿ˜† Rasp, but no I am not, he knew the club he was joining, he knew the clubs ethics, he hasn’t been with us five minutes and plays so poorly each week. If he was the stand out performer each game I would be more understanding, but he isn’t…

Please change your avatar, I will feel much better ๐Ÿ˜‰

  71. rico says:

Can I sound pompass and arrogant, but I didn’t want him to join us anyway, but in January when all was awful, it seemed a good idea, he is living off of one game with us right now and I would rather Merida play.

  72. Rasputin says:

Its on its way rico – for something far more appropriate ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don’t know why you’re smiling peaches – you’re gonna have to change your gravatar too ๐Ÿ˜ณ

  82. Rasputin says:

    Haha … uncanny timing ….

  83. peachesgooner says:

How did you do that ๐Ÿ˜†

  84. rico says:

No kelsey, I am still here, multi tasking now – pups have been out and are soon off to sleep, I am just cooking ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rasp = a whole lot of Coles

peaches = a whole lot of smiles

    ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜›

  85. rico says:

So what about Zezinho rumour then? The way the reports are it makes me think its all done and dusted…

  86. Rasputin says:

    Anyone have any team news?

  87. Freire says:

    hello everyone,
enormous headache, wondering if i can watch the game :S

  88. Freire says:

Song will play on defense … that will be a nervous match. OMG, Wenger, are you crazy?

  89. rico says:

We are going to get stuffed…. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Big hopes City have a full squad and Lardy arse plays…………

  90. rico says:

    Song is alongside Silvestre

    Traore at LB

  91. rico says:

Arsenal team in full: Fabianski, Eboue, Song, Silvestre, Traore, Eastmond, Merida, Ramsey, Rosicky, Wilshere, Vela
SUBS: Mannone, Bartley, Coquelin, Frimpong, Gilbert, Randall, Watt

  92. Freire says:

Will the game be broadcasted on TV over there?

  93. Freire says:

Any good stream for the poor brazilian here?

  94. Freire says:

    Great save, Fabsk

  95. Freire says:

Can we shoot in target just once please?

  96. Freire says:

    It’s a difficult game … to watch.

  97. rico says:

I’m off guys, may the team play as well but learn to finish ๐Ÿ˜‰

Silvestre and song are doing great, yes London, Silvestre ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Catch you tomorrow all ๐Ÿ™‚

    Stay safe

  98. kelsey says:

    Half time:

Could be worse.Considering the two sides strengths we are doing OK but relying on Vela too much(he is having a good game) Eastmond and Merida not really clicking)Fab in goal is doing OK.City for all their millions aren’t anything special, regardless of the result. The ref is definitely in a City shirt.

  99. Freire says:

Yeah, the ref is in blue.

  100. kelsey says:

    earlier I said..

London, you are quite right got blogs mixed up.The jist was that the reserves can play to get experience, but in all probability they will lose tonight against a first team city therefore how much experience do they really get.

great confidence booster for the kids eh.

  101. Freire says:

congratulations, Wenger. We’re out of one more Cup, again … what’s next? UCL, of course…

This must be a joke, Wenger wants to laugh at us… it’s not possible.

Did he really think we could beat that 200Mยฃ team, putting just reserves on the pitch?

  102. London says:

Now all I need is for someone to run over my dog and my week will be complete.

  103. Freire says:

I LOVE TO BE ELIMINATED, WENGER!
THANK YOU FOR ONE MORE YEAR WITHOUT A TITLE!

EVERYTHING YOU WON FOR US, NOW YOU’RE THROWING IT ALL AWAY.

    GET FUCKING REAL, WENGER

  104. Rasputin says:

Rosicky was an absolute disgrace (sorry Irish) don’t offer him a new contract, he has no spine, no fight, no spirit. Vela worked hard but he kept getting long high balls (Sylvestre was the worst culprit)

I feel most sorry for Fabianski who did nothing wrong and was beaten by 3 unstoppable shots. AW is a bloody fool for playing Song who now has a 1 match suspension but could as easily had a straight red and missed 3 games.

  105. Rasputin says:

Now I’ve got to listen to that %$ยฃ*&ing %$ยฃ*er Jamie Rednapp

  106. London says:

I always turn off straight away when we lose. The come onto my computer to be amongst people who understand.

  107. London says:

    Kelsey

It my not have been a confidence booster but you cannot deny that they would have all gained valuable experience from tonightโ€™s game.

  108. Freire says:

Next cup to get out: Champions League.

  109. Rasputin says:

I thought we shouldn’t have started with Traore or Song – either go for it or don’t, but this was a ridiculous half measure. That was the weakest bench I can remember. There was no-one to come on who could change the game.

  110. Rasputin says:

If you listen to that twat Mark Hughes you’d think they had just beaten Barca …….. instead of a few kids and the odd has-been

  111. London says:

We just have to accept that Wenger was telling the truth when he said that the CC will always be a competition that he will use to give the younger players experience. It would have been nice to have won but hey ho. I would also add to that that he uses it advertise players that he would like to off load. Rosicky and Eboue come to mind and I wouldn’t be surprised if Gilbert and Traore were on that list. Senderos must already be on his way.

  112. Freire says:

Well, London, I accept this as an expulsion from your blog.

Can’t be part of a group that doesn’t accept other opinions. This is a ‘high-knowledge website’, everyone is too smart and experieced fans.

Stay safe all, have a good night. I won’t comming back, thanks for everything.

  113. London says:

    Freire

This is not my blog, I am not an owner, neither do I want to be. I am a guest on this site and nothing more. I have no powers to expel anyone; so, if you chose to leave, you should be clear, it will be of your own accord.

  114. JonJon says:

    another year without a trophy????

    its only november…

we cant even beat mancity with our 1st team so why should wenger risk them when we have a massive game at the weekend in the PL???

the FA cup hasnt even started yet and were through to the knockout phase of the CL…

every defeat is dissapointing and tonight is no exception but playing our 1st team for 70 games a season wont win us any trophies either…

the same people who slam wenger for letting our key players play international friendlies also slam him for not playing his key players in another mickey mouse game…

    just something to think about….

  115. London says:

    Hi JJ

Clever comparison between International friendlies and the Mickey Mouse cup

  116. Rasputin says:

Hi JonJon, I’m sure you weren’t referring to me in that last comment ๐Ÿ˜‰

  117. JonJon says:

    your right london…

the CC cup is wengers ‘shop window cup’..those who have immense talent can show it off and those who dont feature in his plans can earn moves to other clubs…

redknapp made me laugh when he said before the game started that wengers policy in this comp was admirable but not many players make it into the first team..

beg to differ..song, denilson, djourou, clichy, gibbs, cesc, vela, van persie, nikki all were part of our CC team at some point in their early careers with us…and then they forget to mention the amount of players that now play in the PL who also were part of our youth system…

FFs would you sacrifice the health and fitness of our best players in the PL,FA cup and CL just to win the CC????

weve already lost rvp…what if tonight we played everyone and lost cesc, gallas or TV???? is it really worth it???

  118. JonJon says:

    no rasp… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  119. London says:

Can you imagine if Cesc had played and got the same kind of injury as RVP? All hell would have broke lose.

  120. JonJon says:

im bitterly dissapointed with tonights result…

i thought it was the exact same as the chelsea game..alot of neat touches, nice triangles and good possession but not enough directness, strength or clever movementt….the movement from the front men was better but they all kept running the same bloody way as eachother…

thought song had a good game at Cb and was unlucky to get booked..

thought rosicky showed touches of class but looked like his head dropped in the second half…

vela showed good movement but never got a good chance..

    the rest were poor…

oh and our best chances came from crosses but ramsey rosicky and vela are all pygmys and couldnt put the headers away…we have a real lack of height and its starting to show…

  121. JonJon says:

    exactley london…

if cesc would have picked up an injury tonight everyone would have been calling for wengers head for playing him….

sometimes i just think its blasting him for the sake of it…

  122. JonJon says:

i think the real problem we have at the minute is that we have too many players who play the same way…so when we come across a team who have plan A B C and D we struggle…

too many pygmys, not enough pace in the final third and too much reliance on passing…

not enough height and nobody who can run with the ball and take players on with pace…

and its excatley the same with any team we field…

  123. rico says:

    Morning all…

I’m upset that we will miss Song for the next game ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  124. rico says:

Maybe the booking was planned so he misses the home game against Stoke, after that we have the dippers, and a very busy December –

This month will be the big one, as long as 1st January we are still up there we are in with a shout for the EPL, Chavs will lose a few matches during the ACON as they lose Drogba, Essien and a few others!!

    It ain’t over….. until its over ๐Ÿ˜›

  125. rico says:

Didnt realise the Chavs got beat on penalties by Blackburn last night…

  126. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All.

Just popping in before I head off to school.

Can you believe that the Danes PAY kids to go to Uni….. about โ‚ฌ600 p.m !! – why? Because Danes believe that educated and informed people create a developed and functioning society. And you know what…… it works !!

That bit of politicking is pure deflection…. I don’t want to think about another defeat..

    Back later

  127. Big Raddy says:

Could it be that Swiss Phil will start against Stoke?

  128. kelsey says:

    Morning rico and raddy,

Two wrongs don’t make a right, and whatever was said by Hughes to Wenger during the game,it isn’t the first time that Wenger hasn’t shaken hands with the opposing manager, and that of course will make the tabloid headlines, giving the media more fuel to despise his actions.Congratulations to City, though having seen the team sheet beforehand,it was always going to be a foregone conclusion that city would win.Even though Wenger has a track record of picking his second string or whatever one likes to call them, with all the present injuries he wasn’t even prepared to put the likes of Walcott and Eduardo on the bench, which to me was a wrong decision, and shows that he wasn’t particularly concerned about the result beforehand. because if the manager feels that every time they step onto the pitch they make get injured, what is the point of having them in the squad.I also heard mention that it will give these understudies more experience by playing last night.Really, I would say the younger you are,the more it hurts. We hardly has one clear chance, and the onus was left to Carlos Vela literally on his own and lescott marshaled him well. What really disturbs me,is that whatever team we put out it is always the same, neat intricate passing, trying to walk the ball into the net.As a team we have forgotten the art of shooting (or are the players being told not to play part of their natural game.) on sight and that does not bode well.City scored some excellent goals and the real test for them will be against United who over two legs will be an entirely different proposition, but alas that doesn’t concern us.

  129. kelsey says:

Apparently, being french,Wenger offered Hughes a kiss on both cheeks, but he (Hughes) told him to f*** off, so Wenger stormed off. Don’t believe anything else you read ๐Ÿ™‚

  130. Rasputin says:

    Morning roadsters,

Wew play a different game than everyone else that is admired for its clever intricacy but feared by no-one. Every manager knows how to play us now. We have no surprises, no-one with a thundering shot, no-one who can curl in a free kick, no-one who can soar above the opposition to power in a header.

We are a plan A, one trick pony who initially taught english football how to play a different way but who has been left behind because we are too obsessed with ‘quality’ and not success. We do all this fantastic posturing and then the other team just watches for a bit then kicks us in the bollox.

  131. rico says:

    Morning Raddy

  132. rico says:

    Morning kelsey and Rasp

  133. rico says:

I think the one trick would work still Rasp IF we had the right players, as you said earlier we lack strong players, height and pace..

And of course a striker who has the ability to score
    ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  134. Rasputin says:

    Morning rico,

The game yesterday was a meaningless tie, with a side that probably had too many first teamers (Song and Traore – who both got cards), BUT……. it has really brought home to me the fact that the brand of football we have got ‘stuck in’ will not win us anything. As soon as we come up against one of the English teams in the CL we’re out.

We are the Harlem Globe Trotters of the premiership, a ‘display team’ not contenders……….

  135. Rasputin says:

rico – we wouldn’t be a one trick side if we had those players … exactly my point ….

  136. rico says:

I don’t blame Arsene for not shaking Hughes hand, the man is an arrogant git. ยฃ200M he has spent and still his team can’t win in the league and he really narked me after the last game…

    I wouldn’t have shaken his hand either…

  137. rico says:

    I just love Marmite Rasp ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜›

  138. London says:

    New Post

  139. rico says:

Rasp, we won’t be out against any side in the CL, this season it’s ours ๐Ÿ˜‰

The premiership is still there for us to win, but Arsene needs to buy in January for us to have the best chance
