As a great man once said – ‘I have a dream’……………

Today is one of the most exciting days I have had for many a year. While you are all getting out of bed and getting ready for your day ahead, I will be setting off to collect the two new additions to our family. Am I excited? You bet I am!

I do realise though I will have been back home for many hours before our illustrious leader joins us, in fact I bet I will be home before he even stops snoring!!

I know I have already mentioned this, but – a couple of weeks ago I had a dream, a dream that we were playing the Chavs – we lost 4-1.

Eduardo was our goal scorer, but I haven’t a clue who scored theirs, and I don’t really care!

As I said then; dreams really don’t come true, do they?

Football is a funny old game, we laugh at some results, we cry at some of ours and we get wound up and stressed about so much – sometimes we even fall out 😉

This weekend we play the Chavs at our Fortress and all I can think about is what emotion will I be feeling come 6pm on Sunday night. Will we be thinking that’s it, title challenge over, could it be ok a draw is not a bad result, or will it be – that’s it, win our game in hand and we can bloody win the premiership this season.

My head tells me we won’t be laughing, but my heart tells me we won’t be following the dream, and something, just something tells me to forget all that and have belief in our team. We are never better than when our backs are against the wall and to a degree they are. So many injuries for us, so many ‘injured’ Chavs have suddenly become fit again. But the biggest thing for me is the loss at Sunderland, the rant by Arson, the bookies giving us little to no chance…. That is why I am truly starting to believe we will win.

Anelka, the man who told the world he should never have left us, now says that winning the premiership with his current team would be better than when he won it with us! Well thank you, that is why I believe we will win, Arson made you the player you are and that is how you repay him, which just shows us all what you are really made of!

As Rasp said yesterday, many of Anelka’s family made a whole lot of money… And that was because of Arsenal, not because of the million clubs he has played for since!!

So who do we really need to worry about in the Chav team?????

The answer to me is simple, all of them!

When we play the sides that have weaknesses, our team seems think the game is won before the whistle goes to kick off, and yes I include both Mancs in that statement, but on Sunday we are up against the current leaders in the premiership, there are no weak spots so everyone has to, and will be focused and fighting to the end.

Slowly but surely my belief increases, but Arson has the final say. He has to pick the right eleven, a mix of strong defence and clinical attack. Hit them from the off, put them on the back foot from the moment the whistle blows – Wigan did, Aston Villa did it – so can we!!

This morning I don’t care about rumours, I don’t care about what the Rags write, what I care about most is that our Little Willy gets his swelling down (not what most men want I know) but we need him, we need him alongside Vermaelen and to boss the defence.

If we do that my friends, we will be the ones left smiling……

Don’t forget to have a peep at the new widget …..

Ok, I did the post last night, but I have to be up and out early so can I be forgiven 😉 😉

  3. Aklilu Getachew says:

yep i aggre with U if Gallas come back for sure we will be the one who left smiling sunday night. Don’t forget that the game is in our land and the rest Arsen knows what we can do.

  4. London says:

    Morning Rico

    I’m impressed….good post.

  5. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

    Excellent post again rico 😉

The only thing I would add is that Arsene really doesn’t have the options to play a different way. Pretty much all of the attacking midfielders (with the possibble exception of theo) have similar attributes, so I think your comment about all the players having to “fight until the end” is the most relevant.

Don’t let them have the ball when play is compressed in the midfield but also be prepared to take a risk when they are committed forward and hit them at PACE on the break when the opportunity arises …. I suppose what I am suggesting is that we play more like the away team.

  6. London says:

    Morning Rasp

That’s it in a nut shell; we should play as though we are the away team and hit them on the break with pace but there is only one player who is capable of doing this and that is Walcott.

  7. London says:

Actually, thinking about this a bit more, the chavs have got the knack of inviting us on and then hitting us on the break, the mancs were even better at it when they had Ronaldo, which, of course, is all very frustrating when we remind ourselves that not so long ago it was us who used to give master classes in the art of the quick break.

  8. London says:

It’s like the calm before the storm.

  9. wambam360 says:

Viera and Bergkamp would be great signings for arsenal for many reasons.

  10. rico says:

    Afternoon all,

I would just love to see Theo blast passed Terry time after time, and Cech having to pick the ball out of the net on more than once occassion 🙂

  11. rico says:

    Hi Aklilu and Wambam

    Hope you enjoy Avenell Road

    This one was worth stealing

Man charges into a bank wearing a mask & wielding a shotgun. “This is a raid, everyone on the floor!” Then raids all the cash. A brave customer yanks off his mask, so the robber shoots him dead. “Anyone else here see my face?”. There was a silence for a few seconds before a man said ” Think that twat over there with the spurs shirt caught a glimpse”

  13. rico says:

    😛 😛 London ….

Our house bloody stinks!! puppy poop, wee and everything. Clean it up, anti-bacterial the space they pooed in, and then start all over again.

    I love them though 😉 😉

  14. ganesh says:

Evening Rico .. Nice post again .. Not much to say .. Waitin for tat sunday match .. Any idea of back four ??
I heard somewer tat Wenger wont put Silvestre as Lb cos he’ll be playin nly as a Cb for us .. Also it was mentioned tat either Eboue or Traore will play as Lb .. Sounds k .. Ill want Eboue 🙂

  15. ganesh says:

Forgot to ask abt Gallas .. Wats his condition will he play .. If not, is Senderos fit cos ill prefer him any day over Silvester .. Jus enlighten me wit ur comments Roadsters 🙂

  16. rico says:

    hi ganesh, and thanks..

No idea on Gallas, the paps say he is a big doubt but knowing Gallas he will be fit I am sure 😉

If not, yep I think the same as you, Senderos if no Gallas, but Silvestre at LB I hope, he is our best option..

Sadly ganesh, we all just guess my friend 😦

  17. rico says:

Its all so quiet here today, where is everybody, surely you are not all away saying prayers for Sunday already 😉

  18. kelsey says:

Did i read that right rico, you have a puppy now.

Read an interesting article from a Russian newspaper that Arshavin was so distraught after Russia got knocked out of the World Cup,that he didn’t want to play against SL, and Wenger had strong words with him.

if you get a chance to see Denilson’s goal again, about half a dozen players embrace him, and Arshavin looks the other way, doesn’t join in, and looks totally uninterested.

I am one for body language, and the vibes I get from AA is that he is generally not happy. This week i have read his wife can’t settle in london and he wants to finish his career back in Russia. This comes on the back of him not liking the tax system in the UK.

Another one who seems to be somewhere else is Almunia, who looks totally uninterested or has something on his mind. I heard today we may bid for Robert Green in january, though it is not confirmed.

  19. avenell says:

Evening Roadsters.. Nice post rico.. 🙂

Gallas is 50/50 acording to Mr Wenger OBE..

Hi Kelsey.. I read that AA had a row up with Hiddink and was doing the team talks.. I am a bit worried that he may be a problem child could surface once he has his feet under the table for a long period of time..

I haven’t heard many bad things about him for Arsenal though..
He seems a bit of a Roy keane character for his country.. Speaking of which hasn’t he got enough problems at Ipswich without having to run Arsene down at every opportunity.. tosser..

  20. London says:

    Hi Kelsey

I watched Fabianski against Villa in the week……there is no chance that Wenger is going to shell out for another goal keeper in January….the pole was good.

I’m hoping that Arshavin is just having a bad week and if it is a bit deeper than that then he should realise that the only way he is going to get another dream move in more southerly European climes is by playing his socks off for us, if not he will be back in Russia quicker than he can say Siberia.

  21. rico says:

    Hi kelsey and ave

kelsey, we now have two puppies, brought them home today, they are beautiful 😛 😛 😛

They have just gone to sleep, finally!! So off for something to eat…

Iread AA have a fight with the russian Spud, Pavleyenckenkooknooo 😉

  22. London says:

    Hi Ave

    What has Keene said now?

  23. avenell says:

Keane had a pop at Arsene saying that Arsenal were no angels, Wenger never see’s anything, perhaps there should only be cameras at the Emirates..

  24. avenell says:

Gary Neville dug a good one into the Scousers though.. I wonder why they love him? 😉

  25. kelsey says:

    Hi london,

i rate fabianaki as well but still comparitively young for a keeper at 24. i meant a possible departure for Almunia with Green coming in. His wife as you probably know, tragically lost her mother in a car crash in Spain a few weeks ago, plus they think the house they live in over here is haunted, and it just maybe another spaniard wants to go back home.

Ave, you are right about AA, but as i have said before,I think he is a short stat player.Look at the video i mentioned before.undoubtedly he is a class act,and as you say he is pivitol for us,especially at the moment.

  26. kelsey says:

fabianaki oooops fabianski, mind you the first one sounds more original

  27. rico says:

I actually think he is an over rated, over paid lump of lard! 😉

We question Theo as all he has is an England Hatrick, but AA only has 4 goals aginst the Dippers…

At least Theo has age on his side…

  28. rico says:

I was referring to AA – anyway, everyone seems to have gone 😦 😦

  29. rico says:

All quiet here so I am off to get some shut eye….

    Night night

  30. Irishgunner says:

    Good morning all, long time.

    1. No I am not over Ireland and the hand of le frog but I hope I have left my expletive language on the subject behind me.

    2. Roy Keane is a tosser. All he wants is attention so AW would do well to avoid his bait. As John Delaney said he is a sideshow. Robbie Keane may not be to a lot of people tastes but least he has pride in being captain of his country so that other plank can just shut-up.

    3. Arshavin seems to throw strops. I don’t see him ending his career at Arsenal but once he does well while here that’s okay by me

    4. Silvestre or Senderos?

    5. Traore or Eboue?

    6. Is it still raining in England??? LOL

  31. JonJon says:

RVP ruled out for rest of season….

  32. JonJon says:

    hello irish…

    1…well said
    2..well said
3…id drop him…if he dont want to play..then sod him..give someone else a go..he hasnt been playing well this season at all…
    4..depends what position
    5..see four

  33. JonJon says:

  34. kelsey says:

    Hi irish,

so nice to hear from you,and it’s the usual sun here but a tad cooler at about 23 degrees.

    We agree about Arshavin, good.

left back traore or Silvestre for me.

i am sure Gallas will play and might accidently poke Drogba in the rib cage a couple of times.

our free flowing football without the pivitol man RVP against the meanest defence in the league. My main concern is that we have only kept 3 clean sheets and if chelsea score just one, who will score two for us.The key men for me are cesc,Nasri and Arshavin to either score or create the chances and even Gallas or vermaelen at set pieces,as Chelsea also look vunerable at set pieces.

my advice is keep Senderos well away from the ground, let alone the subs bench.

I see Song and Denilson playing but haven’t a clue if either eduardo,Rosicky or Vela will start.i hear a rumour Diaby is fit,but not confirmed.

Such an important game for us not to lose, and i would take a draw now.Hopefully all my predictions are wrong and we win, but a loss and results below us go the wrong way and we are back fighting for 4th.

Brian Glanville was on the radio last night and said there is still an atmosphere in the dressing room,,even though the whore has gone. Any ideas anyone ? it may be that the ruthless streak that was never apparent publically by Wenger, until two weeks ago is causing some friction, but maybe that is a good thing.

  35. kelsey says:

    Hi JJ,
well if that is the case,we must buy a striker in january,God our injuries are never ending and always the players most vital to us.

  36. JonJon says:

    morning kelsey..

i think we need to beat chelsea…a draws not even good enough..even with a draw and we win the game in hand we are still 4 points behind them and they are the strongest team in the PL..until the ACN that is…

we need to keep within 2 or 3 points of them…i.e. one win…anything more and i dont think we have enough to catch them…all their players are champions and experienced..

and with VP out and AA playing silly bollox the league could be over if we dont win tomorrow…

i wouldnt play song and denilson…thats negative..its a recipe for crab football and were at home and we need to win…

    my team would be

    sagna gallas TV silvestre
    cesc song nasri
    theo Dudu rosicky

  37. JonJon says:

    yes i agree…

we need to buy a striker…
theos not good enough, nikkis injured and will take time…vela and dudu arent doing enough and theres no signs of improvement…

we need to buy an established striker in jan…

wenger will probably go for chamkakakaka…but i dont know..i think we need someone better..

  38. JonJon says:

that atmosphere in the dressing room is AA…

after denilson scored everyone went to celebrate but him…

it seems hes doing an ‘ade’…

hes losing motivation, hes constantly gobbing off and he isnt joining in…a class player he may be but those type of players do my head in unless they bag you 30 goals or assists a season…

  39. JonJon says:

chelsea play a similar formation to us..but they wont go into tomorrows game with two holidng players…

essien will hold and everyone else will flood forward…if we play both song and denilson we will be constantly on the back foot…

TV and gallas will handle drogba..but anelka will run our LB ragged whoever it is…silvestres too slow and troare cant defend…

    i dont see a problem at RB…

and we match them everywhere else on the pitch…

we should play our them back…

best form of defence is attack…if we allow them to come at us we’ll be in trouble..

  40. kelsey says:

i think you are right about AA. I mentioned last night that if you watched a re run of Denilson’s goal, Arshavin looked the other way and didn’t join in the celebrations.
agree again about theo,Vela ,Dudu and rosicky, all for different reasons, but basically through injury and lack of games, and dudu is the most likely to give us an edge.

You say we must win, but i just don’t see it happening, unless we are awarded our first penalty of the season. 🙂

  41. kelsey says:

I admire your positivity JJ, i wish I could join you.

  42. Freire says:

Hello everybody who is on! Good morning.

  43. JonJon says:

    lol kelsey…

is that true?? about the penalties??

maybe if eboue would stop diving allover the place the refs would take a different veiw…

  44. JonJon says:

    morning freire

kelsey..i think we have a good team…and we have alot of depth this season compared to last…

i think its all about team conidence..if wenger goes into the game with two holding players and wingers in goal and forwards on the wing etc etc its sets a bad vibe to the players from the start…

fuck chelsea..theyve been beaten by both villa and wigan away this season..weve got no reason to fear them…unless wenger tinkers..

  45. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

I don’t think Song and Denilson should start at the same time – it cuts down the number of creative players we have in the team…….yes I know Denilson scored the other night but hes hardly a regular goalscorer is he…..I’d prefer Song to cover the back four and start with 5 others to pour forward……bring Denilson on when we’re 3 up 😆

  46. London says:

Wenger has no other choice but to tinker.

I’m still reeling from the news.

  47. peachesgooner says:

    I don’t think we’ll win a single penalty all season 😦

  48. peachesgooner says:

    What news London?

  49. JonJon says:

rvp is out for the season peaches..

  50. JonJon says:

    hi london…

what do you think to my team???

    would you go with it??

  51. peachesgooner says:

Oh no, thats terrible…… terrible for him and terrible for us …… how sad …..

  52. peachesgooner says:

I agree with your team JJ ……

  53. Freire says:

I was thinking… how things changed since the internacional friendlies… before the games, we were expecting to win easily Chelsea; now, after their players get fit, and ours get injured, we are trying to discover good things we have to grow up our hope. It’s sad the way the injuries keep on bothering us, year by year, we lose the titles races after our players go to the doctors. We must stop this, or we will wait more 18 years to win something again, just as 71-89.

  54. London says:

I actually want Denilson to start with Song tommorrow. I think we are going to need both belt and braces

  55. JonJon says:

i just think we are unlucky..we have a good team and if they all are fit we are the best team in europe…as the majority of this season has prooved…

but the injuries to players just keep stacking up…

its becoming a real pain in the arse and the only way around it is to have a squad of 33 world class players whoare all on 100000000million quid a week…which is impossible unless your chelsea…

and thats why they are where they are whilst everyone else has to make do with what theyve got…

  56. JonJon says:

dont take this the wrong way london… 😉
i have no intention in putting words into your mouth but are you suggesting we play 4 5 1 at home and let them come at us??

  57. Freire says:

But, JJ, we can’t be slaves of our unlucky destiny, can we? Wenger must stop to let the players go to their international teams … RVP, in this occasion, went to Holand just to break himself. It’s not fair with us. The Dutch team did not win anything, and we lost one of our most important players. It’s not fair, not really fair. Now we are under our unlucky destiny again? Hoping for a saint to come down from the skies and put the ball into Chelsea’s goal? C’mon, let’s get real and realize that Arsenal and Arséne keep on doing everything wrong again. If we lose Cesc, Arshavin, Rosicky or Vermaelen this season, we’re f*cked up forever. CL? Forget it.

  58. JonJon says:

thing is friere is that you cant really stop the players playing for their countries…its not illegal…
the only way round it is for the player to turn round and retire form international football…like scholes and shearer did..

only problem we have is that all our players are in their mid twenties or below and theres not a prayer they will refuse to play for their country….

rosicky and AA are the captains of their country

in robins case he was having a fantastic season and it was the first time holland had picked him in the CF role..he wsnt going to say no…

as you wouldnt expect them to…

    wengers hands are tied…

  59. JonJon says:

world class players want to get as many caps as they can for club and country…

they want to win PL cups and WORLD cups…if they dont play they dont get picked…

wenger cant stop them…its the way it is…

    liverpool have worse problems…

  60. Freire says:

They choose to play for the internationals and then they get injured … great choise, ahn?! Very mature for their ages and very smart!

I still think international teams were created only to disrupt the club’s season. Now the Dutch team has no RVP, and Arsenal FC neither. I can’t see what is intelligent in it … please, show me what is interesting in international friendly and World Cup.

  61. JonJon says:

an international player cant just say pick me when the world cups here…they need to play friendlies so the coach can get his team ready…

its exactley why the fans dont like internationals anymore when injuries occur like this but the players dont feel the same way im afraid…

its like fergie banning rooney from england..
    bentitez banning torres from spain

the players will just turn round and say fuck off…

theo took the piss in the summer by playing in both full team and baby team but thats different…he deserved wenger to kick off but other than that theres nothing we can complain about the way robin got injured….

oh yeah there is ive watched it again and it was a foul…he took robins leg first before he got the ball..the same leg thats fucked for 5 months…

  62. JonJon says:

friendlies arent something thats been invented over night…theyve always been around…

we werent moaning about them when we were winning doubles and going seasons unbeaten

its just another excuse to blast wenger but what can he do???? ban allhis players from playing for their coutry??? they will ask for transfers..

  63. Freire says:

I understand your point of view, JJ. But unfortunately I can’t agree with you. I still think internationals are only for win money … nothing more. I personally don’t see what is so magic in World Cups … then I can’t see what is so nice in friendlies and those lot injuries we’ve got.

We weren’t complaining about the internationals when we were winning. But now we’re getting fucked because of them, and don’t tell me I’m wrong, cuz you know that is the real reason! Hell, I think I’m just too boring for these… ‘smart’ choises from our players.

Wait for one more friendly around the world, and more 2 or 3 of our players will be out of season. Great for everybody, isnt it? For the player, for the club, for the Federations? … Bullshit.

  64. WAMBAM says:

    Hi RICO, great read!

Can any of you gooners remember the last time WENGER was able to field his strongest line-up?
Injuries are becoming the norm for arsenal.

  65. avenell says:

Hi WAMBAM .. sorry you were in moderation mate, you must have changed a setting.

We need a magician not a physio at the moment.. 😦

  66. avenell says:

Haha how dare a referee give a penalty against Man Scum at OT?

  67. avenell says:

Whoops it’s at Portsmouth.. I thought Grant had a hard first game in charge.. 🙂

  68. Freire says:

Pompey is useless. They deserve the second divion.

  69. avenell says:

They are paying the penalty for living above their means.. could be a few more joining them soon.

I hope one has a new stadium half built. 😉

  70. avenell says:

The Spuds could go ahead of us tonight.. not if they keep letting goals in like they just have though.. haha.

  71. avenell says:

I’ve only just noticed Hull pulled a goal back to get a draw at Middle Eastlands.. 🙂

  72. JonJon says:

and freire..yes international friendlies are about making money as well as giving national coaches options…

but isnt all football about the money???

the PL is one of the richest well supported league in the world…the reason we (the arsenal) moved to the emirates is cos of money..nothing else..

so we cant moan and throw that excuse towards friendlies…

all football is about money…if a player gets injured then he gets injured…players get injured in PL all the time..we cant blame wenger or rvp for robins injury…

alot of people thought croatia were a good bet for the euros last summer…they have a fantastic team when everyones fit and they would have given spain a good run for their money….

but they didnt do that well……i didnt see slavan bilic blame arsenal or dudu for dudu gettin injured against birmingham in PL…

its just the pot calling the kettle black…

  73. London says:

    Hi JJ

You’ve been dieing to write that Lol.

  74. JonJon says:

    hi london
ive been out all day on the lash andjust got in…
    does it show???

come on you gunners..tear those chavs a new arsehole…

  75. JonJon says:

7 draws on the bounce…ade playing like a turd

im going to watch and enjoy MOTD for the first time in ages

  76. London says:

In response to your earlier question, by the way, your politeness is appreciated but not entirely necessary as I’m certain in the knowledge that you are coming from a good place; so, you could say: London are you suggesting we play 4.5.1 and let them come onto us? Are you having a laugh? We are at home FFS. To which I would reply: No, I think we should still stick with 4.3.3; we know the GK and the back line but then I would go with Song,Fabregas,Denilson. My guess is that Wenger tried this mid-field formation out in the week in preparation for tomorrow and it worked well: when either Denilson or Song was going forward then the other covered and with both of them there Fabregas doesn’t have to worry about defending at all. Up front I would go with Walcott,Eduardo,Arshavin, if Nasri plays instead of Walcott, no problem or if Rosicky plays instead of Arshavin no probs but that forward line has got to click or we are in trouble.

  77. Rasputin says:

    Evening roadsters,

If you don’t mind me joining in with someone else’s debate…. I think the tactics tomorrow will be crucial and if that means we play like the away team – so be it!

The chavs will know that we are limited in our options. We have to be strong in defence with the midfield working their socks off and pressing the ball for 90 minutes.

I think we need to attack them at pace and avoid giving them set-pieces. Once again in the Sunderland game, we conceded from a set-piece. Dare I say it…. it would be nice if we had a bit of luck for a change – a deflected shot, a penalty that shouldn’t have been.

I don’t care how we win – as long as we win. A loss for them won’t be the end of the world, but a loss for us and the gap will begin to look insurmountable. People are already taliking about the top two as if we’re not in with a shout.

  78. JonJon says:

i see your point and it has made me change my opinion…

if we stick with the 433 and denilson and song play then it may not all be bad..but like you say we need out front three to click…

robins been outstanding this season and we will miss him….i really want to pick AA but his temprement is concerning me a little at the moment…

hi rasp…its always good to have a mass debate.. 😉
i totally agree..we have to go at them with pace..which is why i would like to see theo in the team…

and we have to stay solid at the back, but we cant, which is why im coming round to londons theory of denilson and song tearing (and intercepting) essein and co to bits in the centre of the park

  79. Evo in Oz says:

Come on Gooners, lets beat those Chav scum! 3-1
