Wi-gan a get better…

I thought about trying to write something about the game last night, with a headline of ‘Hands knees and bumps a daisy’ but thankfully thought better of it, but our second and third goals were more or less just that – a bit of hand from Song, a bit of knee from Eduardo and a whole lot of offside thrown into the mix –
I don’t like us being allowed goals which are clearly offside, but hey, how many times have we lost to goals like that so ‘am I bothered’ ? …
No, we won, I still don’t know how, but we have three points after the first Champions League game and that is all that matters.

For me there were two differences between the sides last night, desire and fitness. SL had much more desire to win but we were by far the fittest, and that is what won us the game in the end.
I don’t see the point in doing a player by player rating as time has passed, it’s all been discussed and to be fair I don’t think anyone really deserved a rating over 5!!

My man of the match was the ref, no-nonsense, pretty consistent throughout – the only decision I am still unsure about though is the penalty, but hey ho we had an offside goal allowed so all is fair 😉

Three away games at the start of the season, out of the four played is not good for any club, especially when its our own, but maybe when we get to the end of the season, we will be glad that the two trips to Manchester are out the way.

Our next six games are all at home apart from Fulham on the 26th September, three of those are in the premiership and on paper that should mean a definite 9 Points, and to be honest we ‘should’ get a further three points at Craven Cottage – shouldn’t we??

Hypothetically – by the second week in October we may just be floating around the top three, and those two away games will be well and truly forgotten, well, nearly.

Saturday see’s us back at home then, against Wigan who are still getting used to their new manager Roberto Martinez – they sit just two places below us level on points, but having played one game more. Wigan have had a mixed bag of results – they beat West Ham, got thrashed by Manchester Utd, beaten by Everton and thrashed by Blackpool – so for me this is a certain home win for us, and I feel another thrashing for them is on the cards.

This Saturday will see us get back to our winning ways, a more convincing display, maybe even a goal or two from a striker (in the league I mean) Just that in itself would make me a tad happier, I currently have very little faith in Van Persie, Bendtner or Eduardo and I so wish Chamakh had joined us, but I know, not point in even thinking about that now..

The good news is that Arshavin may be back for Saturday, Rosicky is definitely no longer a sicky and they are the two that still believe it’s a good idea to shoot when you have a sight on goal – Unlike some… 🙂

Denislon is still out as is Walcott, Djourou, Nasri, Vela, Fabianski and Almunia, so I hope our line up consists of:-

Mannone
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Gibbs
Wilshere Ramsey Song Rosicky
Arshavin Eduardo

But no doubt we will see
Mannone
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Cliché (just for Ave)
Rosicky Song Fabregas Diaby
Bendtner Eduardo

Saturday 19th September is the date, 3pm is the time – our season starts all over again, this time though we will get it right!

I am going for a 5-1 home win 🙂

Afternoon everyone, not much of a match report I know, but I watched it with very tired eyes 😦

  2. rico says:

I tried to defend Clichy the other day, but last night he was again not at his best, hence hoping Gibbs gets a game against Wigan

  3. rico says:

Oh, tired eyes and a glass of stella doesn’t go well together 😉 Sadly though I didn’t have enough to make me think Diaby was any good 😉

  4. avenell says:

That was quick rico well done.. I feel I needed a cheary post, I’m glad we won last night, but I wanted that team to play oh so much better than we did..

Never mind.. some more bad news Arshavin has a 10% chance for saturday..

  5. rico says:

No probs ave, but don’t forget AW’s 10% could mean he is fit and ready to roll 😉

  6. rico says:

Ave – did you like the ‘Cliche’ 🙂

  7. avenell says:

You kerb crawler admirer you.. 😉

  8. rico says:

I used to crawl them all at night ave 😉 Never earned much money though 😉 😉

  9. rico says:

Its WBA in the CC Ave – I couldn’t remember that earlier

  10. rico says:

Would anyone else rest Cesc for the game Saturday – keep him on the bench… just in case ??

I know I would and try Ramsey there, or better still Merida but I think he maybe on WC duties 😦

  11. avenell says:

That’s a tough one for the kids..
How far down the keeper stock are we going to trawl?

  12. kelsey says:

Sorry, didn’t know there was a new post up rico, so i will repeat my last post and think about wigan later.

    Evening all,

i had a lot on yesterday and today and only just caught the highlights. Lucky they were all wearing dark shorts in the first 5 minutes. Felt sorry for Mannone,he was a bundle of nerves to start with and could have saved the first goal, which though a mistake by Eduardo, originally stemmed from Clichy giving away a corner.Poor overall performance, but the pitch was bone hard and that didn’t help much.We do make life difficult for ourselves sometimes. The Liege crowd were really like an extra man.I will not critize anyone but I would give credit to Vermaelen once again, Rosicky, so pleased to see him again and Gallas after a nervous start. Not our best performance, and i said beforehand I thought it would be difficult, though not expecting the initial 5 minutes.Sometimes you have to win ugly.

  13. avenell says:

I wouldn’t rest Cesc until AK47 and denilson come back..

  14. rico says:

No worries kelsey, sorry to hear about your animals and teeth 😦 How are things?

ave – WBA won’t be as good as they were under Melton Mowbray 😉

As for the keeper situation, we may be asking for permission to sign an emergency one, maybe that is AW’s cunning plan 😉 😉

  15. London says:

    Jonjon

You could have chosen to moan; but instead, you found a way of lifting us up. Respect. I shall be watching the Wigan game from the only bar in Manhatten where the New York gunners meet. It should be intesting.

  16. rico says:

Evening London – have a fab time ‘Down Town’ 😉 Now was that Petula Clark 😛

  17. David says:

The best thing we can do in these dark times is to look ahead to the future. And by God the future had better be bright at Wigan.

  18. rico says:

Things aren’t as bad as we think David – at least we enough players to list in the CL squad – home grown I mean 😉 ave said earlier, the dippers struggled with that one 😛

I still maintain that AW spoilt us when he first arrived, and we just all want more of that glory, it will come again, but when… I don’t know 😉

  19. David says:

How u doing rico? Glad do kno u are upbeat about something

Yeah when he first arrived it was already a team on the verge of big things. He certainly didnt build it from sccratch.

That said…who qualifies as a homegrown player?

  20. avenell says:

Evening David.. homegrown is three years at the club before the age of 21.. or English or welsh..

8 in a squad of 25.. and you can have a bigger squad if the players are under 21 and have had at least 3 years at the club.

    I think that is right..

  21. rico says:

I realise he picked up a half decent side David, but he tweaked it, he extended the careers of Seaman, Keown, Dixon, Adams, Parlour and Winterburn – and that came from the players themselves, not me 😉

  22. rico says:

Thanks ave, I was just off to get my facts straight before answering that one, but you came to my rescue 🙂

  23. rico says:

We are lucky, all our overseas players have been at the club since they were six years old 😉 😉 😛

  24. rico says:

I have to go for today all, be back soon 😉

    Night all …

  25. rico says:

    Morning all 🙂

  26. rico says:

    http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/371392272?-19387

    What a knob !!

I love the bit about ‘My friends, like Eboue’ were fine with me – yeah right Ade, you mean Eboue was the only friend you had and even he is slating you after the Robin and Cesc stamp !!

You may have scored against us, but don’t forget the old saying, ‘He who laughs last, laughs longest!!’

We are well shot of you, you nasty man!

  27. rico says:

I can’t make up my mind about the Manchester derby, a draw would be the best result, but something inside me really wants Utd to give Citeh an absolute hiding and knock the wind out of their sails – but the old Lardy would think its because he wasn’t playing…. Yeah right!!

5-0 win to Utd and a few sendings off on each side would be just the ticket 🙂

  28. rico says:

Where are you old codgers on this bright sunny Friday morning 😉

  29. rico says:

The Football Association was considering a scheme for simplifying club badges and emblems so that they more closely reflected the clubs’ names. A committee was set up to receive suggestions and, after a few weeks, the chairman called a meeting.

‘Gentlemen,’ he said, ‘our request for new club badge designs has produced a very satisfactory response.

Most of the suggestions are perfectly straightforward and logical – an ox for Oxford United, a sun for Sunderland, a heart for Heart of Midlothian, a windmill and a brick wall for Millwall.

However, I’m afraid we must definitely draw the line at the proposed design received from Arsenal!’

  30. rico says:

After a visit to the doctor, Adebayor, the Citeh team’s centre forward dropped in to his local pub for a quick one. “What’s up mate?” asked his friend Toure, “you look worried.”

“Yes, I am,” Adebayor replied. “I’ve just been to the doctor’s and he told me I can’t play football.”

“Oh, really?” said Toure. “He’s seen you play too then, has he?”

  31. rico says:

An American visitor to England watched his very first football match and was struck by the differences between English and American football.

After the match he fell into conversation with one of the English players and remarked, ‘You know, over in the States, our players wear thick protective clothing. You guys must be frozen stiff in those light clothes.’

‘It’s not so bad,’ said the Englishman. ‘Sometimes the ground is covered in snow.’

‘You don’t say!’ exclaimed the American. ‘What do you do about the balls? Paint them red?’

‘Oh, no,’ said the player. ‘We just wear an extra pair of shorts.’

  32. rico says:

Q: Did you hear about the morning-after pill for men

A: It changes your blood group

    🙂

  33. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters..

Just seen the stamp on cesc’s ankle.. no wonder he hasn’t played that well in the last 2 games..

  34. rico says:

    Morning ave – nasty isn’t it 😦

It’s so annoying that Lardy has made the headlines yet again, this time slating our fine team

  35. rico says:

What do make of Senderos saying he always wanted to stay at Arsenal ave – do you think AW will now look to extend his contract ?

  36. avenell says:

    Morning rico..

We just need to bide our time, Ade has been agro no matter where he has been. so he is up there for the media to shoot him down now when his form drops.. which it will.

  37. avenell says:

I thought Senderos said some things different to that when he went to Italy.. but then he may just be trying to justify his decisions..

He has never slagged Arsenal off though from what I can remember.
I like him, but he needs speeding up a bit.. he may play well between Vermaelen as the left back and Gallas.. the way Clichy is at the moment.

  38. Irishgunner says:

Emmanuel Eboue is a top man:

Eboue added: “I haven’t spoken to him since Saturday because I am very disappointed in him, it was a bad thing to do.

“In the dressing room, we were very disappointed because we don’t know what happened to Adebayor. When he was in our team, we were together, we did everything together and so we don’t know what happened.

“Kolo came into our dressing room and he said sorry to everyone and that was very nice.

“If Adebayor calls me, I’ll speak with him. If he calls me, I’ll say, ‘Thank you, God.’

“If he doesn’t call me, that’s his problem. I think about my team.”

    Well said Eboue, well said.

  39. avenell says:

That is what I was saying the other day Irish.. I wonder what side Eboue comes out on..

I didn’t think he would do that in public though.

  40. Irishgunner says:

Do you think Avenell that Adebayor is annoyed with Eboue because Eboue seems to be every African’s favourite player?

I say it honestly, I’ve worked with a lot of Africans and they all love Eboue.

Adebayor is jealous of Eboue 😆

  41. rico says:

Morning Irish – when I read that this morning I was chuffed for Eboue, shows he is his own man…

Trouble is with that ave, Gallas and TV have gelled, it would be a shame to change them, unless forced by injury – but at some stage both will need a break, maybe we will see Senderos alongside TV tomorrow – I think TV would really help him, he is calm and that will settle Senderos from the beginning..

  42. rico says:

ave – couldnt agree more about Lardy, hence my ealrier comment – ‘he who laughs last, laughs longest’

  43. avenell says:

You may be right.. I reckon they both want to be nice guys. most african people I have met seem to want to be that way, but they both have there flaws. Ade more so than Eb..

Eboue was brought up in terrible poverty I heard. not saying Ade wasn’t, but Eb was singled out in an article I read.

  44. rico says:

I am exhausted having laughed at my own jokes all morning 😉 😉

Got to pop out for an hour, truth is we have bought a new car and its a novelty still to go out for for a drive 😉 😉

  45. rico says:

Please could you put me up for a 5-1 home win tomorrow ave 😛

  46. Irishgunner says:

At least Eboue “thinks about his team” – Citeh fans must be a bit dense if they think Adebayor is doing it for the club ha ha

  47. rico says:

But now Eboue has to be very careful, he needs to stop auditioning for the African 2012 Olympic Games Diving Team 😉 😉

    Catch you later

  48. avenell says:

Your right rico.. you cannot go around moaning that Ade’s antics are no good for the game. Then keep diving all over the place..

  49. Irishgunner says:

“I wasn’t making any comments in the press about wanting to leave or being unhappy.” – 😆 so really Adebayor just suffers from memory loss

  50. avenell says:

    Or thickness. lol..

The press love this Ex Arsenal player now at the worlds richest club.

  51. Irishgunner says:

    I think tomorrow’s score will be 5-2

  52. avenell says:

That’s what I was doing updating the widget.. cheers Irish ..

  53. avenell says:

Were not doing very well 7 games into the season and only 2 correct score predictions.. 😦

  54. Irishgunner says:

“I think that Kolo is talking bull***t. He’s talking nonsense,” Song said. “Ade was a ‘big brother’. In London, I was almost living at his place, and he at mine.
“Once he went to City, it’s true that our relationship was not what it had been before. I called him two or three times, and he didn’t call me back.
“I’m not going to force him to do it. And I’m not going to have a laugh with him when I see him in the tunnel. [Last weekend] he disappointed me because the person I knew was not the person I met that day.”

Well we know where all the African players stand!!

  55. PDT says:

    Good morning!

I am really sorry that Kolo is getting pulled into all of this. He is an Arsenal great and should stay out of this mess.

  56. PDT says:

    My prediction for the widget…

    3-1 against Wigan.

  57. Irishgunner says:

Eboue said Toure apologised afterwards. Song is on about Toure saying Arsenal players were a disgrace for not shaking hands with Adebayor. Think Song is just setting the record straight.

  58. PDT says:

I must confess I have always liked Eboue. He has a very joyous smile, and you can see he always enjoys the game.

The downside is that he isn’t a “warrior”. More of a child.

  59. PDT says:

I am realizinmg that blogs are the new pub where you can hang out and argue about the team till you are thrown out.

The problem is that some pubs are overcrowded while others don’t have enough contrariwise people for a good argument.

  60. Irishgunner says:

Eboue needs to cut out the diving and fake injuries and he’ll be fine.

  61. Irishgunner says:

And some pubs are full of people that never stop moaning and talking about how great they are….

  62. PDT says:

We shoulda bought ReoCoker two season back. We needed someone like him next to Cesc.

I think Wenger is planning to play Nasri in that role. No more Denilson.

  63. PDT says:

    It takes all kinds, Irish…

  64. PDT says:

I am looking forward to how Pellegrini handles the first slump in Madrid’s results. I would have liked to see Pellegrini as a successor to Arsene…guess that will never happen now.

  65. PDT says:

Clichy needs a rest. I hope he plays Gibbs in the next few games.

  66. avenell says:

Hi PDT.. did you like my idea of giving Vermaelen a go at left back and seeing how Senderos plays in the middle between the Gallas and Vera..

Better defence and adds height to the back.. I would rather see Gibbs or Traore played on the left instead of diaby too..

  67. Irishgunner says:

Diaby is going to start on the wing again tomorrow isn’t he 😦

  68. rico says:

Someone mention pubs and fights – I’m back, put em up 😉 😉

  69. rico says:

Sadly Irish, I think you could be right – but I wish he would give LJ or Merida a try there, they have so much to offer – also if Rosicky plays on the right tomorrow why not ley Ramsey start. We have so many options, I don’t understand why AW sticks with a player who just isn’t performing in that position..

Sadly, AW will probably only remember that through ball against Leige that got us a goal and think that justifies him playing 😦

  70. Irishgunner says:

    I’d pick:

    —————– Mannone ————————

    Sagna ——– Gallas ——– Vermaelen —— Clichy

    ——————– Song ————————

    ————- Fabregas ——- Ramsey ————-

van Persie ———– Bendtner ————- Rosicky

Give Eddie a bit of a rest. Clichy will start cos Gibbs will get a game in the CC.

  71. avenell says:

Were on a catch 22.. if diaby plays well Mr wenger obe won’t drop him for the “big” games.. then he will fail again.

  72. rico says:

I would rest Clichy, but forgot about WBA game, no doubt both Traore and Gibbs will play in that one, Senderos too..

  73. Irishgunner says:

Diaby rarely plays well. Not consistently enough at least.

Sometimes he can go things that are excellent – mainly from the SS position, coming in from midfield.

At the moment I just don’t trust him – he doesn’t know when to pass most of the time, loses the ball a lot, isn’t exactly great at winning it back.

  74. Irishgunner says:

I’d rest Clichy too Rico but I think that’ll be Wenger’s mindset, that he’ll get a rest midweek.

  75. Irishgunner says:

RvP back tomorrow, Senderos to play midweek and Arshavin back next weekend.

  76. rico says:

I am more worried about when TV and Gallas are going to get a rest, if Clichy gets injured we are lucky enough to have two good back ups, and even Tweetie can play there if push comes to shove (last resort)

But in the centre of defence, I worry 😦

I think we have games every 3/4 days over the next two weeks 😛

  77. Irishgunner says:

From what Wenger just said he is trying to get Senderos back up to match fitness and sharp.

So we have Senderos, Song and Silvestre who can play there – after that its kiddie time.

  78. rico says:

I dont so much mind Song and Senderos, but Silvestre Irish 😦

  79. Irishgunner says:

😆 its not my fault Rico, send that sad face to Arsene Wenger.

  80. rico says:

Now that’s not a bad idea Irish 😉

  81. Irishgunner says:

I thought Silvestre was proper old i.e. he should be playing for AC Milan.

He’s only a few months older than Gallas 😯

  82. London says:

“proper old i.e. he should be playing for AC Milan”

    Now that is funny.

  83. Irishgunner says:

Evening London – How are you on this not hot but not cold Friday?

  84. rico says:

Hi London, how could you say such positive things about this post but to the wrong author 😦 😦

    😉 😉 – just kidding 😛

  85. rico says:

Hey Irish, how many chickens do you have? And are you having any problems with them losing any feathers? We have a bully in our camp of four, she is pecking at the others and they are going bald underneath 😦 We have started behaviour therapy – ie water pistol, medication and a good old fashioned (gentle) slap when she is caught in the act 😉

  86. peachesgooner says:

    Hi all

    Who’s for kidnapping Diaby?

  87. Irishgunner says:

    We have 6 Rico.

They all seem to get on fine. No losing of feathers as of yet.

We had to curtail their time outside the coup though – they were wandering too far. They get bold if they are out too long, so they 3 hours in the evening on probation 😉

  88. peachesgooner says:

Irish – Sylvestre proper old?????????? Remember who you’re talking to here 😦

  89. peachesgooner says:

London – are you in New York now?

  90. Irishgunner says:

Maybe Wenger needs to be thought like Pavlov’s dog Peaches.

Everytime he picks Diaby on the wing he gets an electric shock?

  91. Irishgunner says:

Peaches 😯 I was talking footballistically (thanks for that word Arsene)

I feel ostracized because of my young age 😆

  92. rico says:

😛 😛 Irish, you are so lucky, would you like an extra one, our bully 😉

Hi peaches, count me in… I will get the van 😉

  93. peachesgooner says:

I’ve been saying all week that Cesc got badly injured by Ade on Saturday – both physically and emotionally I think, not that I’m qualified to have that opinion but all the same……….Ade is a very bad man 😦

  94. Irishgunner says:

P.S. We do have a problem with the chickens bullying our cats, well it would be a problem if it wasn’t so funny.

They’ll stand up to dogs but not chickens…..

  95. peachesgooner says:

No way Irish, you’re one if us now 😆

  96. Irishgunner says:

Peaches – Give it a year, maybe less and you can laugh at Barn Door as his career crashes and falls apart.

He has been playing for Monaco and Arsenal for 7 years and had one good season, says it all. Lionel Messi he is not.

  97. Irishgunner says:

    😆 Peaches

  98. peachesgooner says:

Rasputins not around so we won’t get any ‘zimmer frame’ jokes 🙂

  99. avenell says:

Silvestre is only eight days older than gallas..

and it takes him eight days longer to get back..

  100. Irishgunner says:

Silvestre acts old – sprightly he isn’t.

  101. peachesgooner says:

Enough of the old – I’m looking forward to seeing Senderos, hes a new signing isn’t he 😛

  102. choy says:

    Evening all…

  103. peachesgooner says:

In fact I’m so excited about seeing Phillipe I may have to change my avatar to him …… back in a while 😉

  104. Irishgunner says:

    Hiya Choy

I’ll make my mind up on Senderos when I see him 😉

  105. rico says:

Irish – one of our neighbours cats come into our garden, but after one chicken encounter it stays away from them too, chickens are aggressive little buggers 😉

    ave 😆

Hi choy, long time etc – how you doing?

  106. rico says:

Talking of old and ave appears 😉 😉

  107. choy says:

    Hey Irish,

Hello rico, long time indeed.. m doing ok tbh..

    how are you doing?

  108. rico says:

Pretty good thanks choy, looking forward to us hopefully getting back to winning ways tomorrow

  109. choy says:

oh yes.. the league.. we have to start winning!

  110. kelsey says:

Talk of old, and even older appears ;).

    Afternoon,rico,choy,peaches,irish,ave London.

liitle dog p*dro is better, rocky no change.

  111. rico says:

We have a better run now choy, on paper anyway, and this is when it counts, maximum from our next few games and we will be right back in the mix of things –
What results do we want then at the weekend

    Chavski v’s Spuds ??

  112. Big Raddy says:

  115. Big Raddy says:

    Kelsey.

I always think a liquid dinner is best. Drink enough and everything around you looks swell and peachy !

    Rico. Draw. MU win.

  116. Irishgunner says:

    Hi Kelsey, Big Raddy.

Glad one of the dogs is better.

  117. choy says:

    hello kelsey and BR…

  118. kelsey says:

  123. peachesgooner says:

Both draws would make me happy…..if not a manu win wouldn’t be too bad I suppose……

  124. Big Raddy says:

    Evening Irish.

Did you write the reply to Martin Samuel? I was disappointed with MS’s article because I really enjoy his writing which is always interesting and well written,he is one of the very few journalistsI actively seek out. I like Patrick Barclay as well, and of course Amy Lawrence.

I recall Amy Lawrence writing in the old Fanzines (I think it was 1-0 down,2-1 up.) And I have to say that your writing is better. Keep honing your talent and the breaks will arrive…..

  125. peachesgooner says:

kelsey – no, i’m not pregnant!!!!!!!!

  126. Big Raddy says:

Well done Peaches. One is never too old to rock n’ roll !

  127. Irishgunner says:

I took it down cos I wasn’t happy with it. Peaches read it before I took it down so maybe she can be objective on it.

I was just merely pointing out in it how the Adebayor Song has been sung for years, a minority sang it not a majority, how the media started and propagated the Wenger “paedophile” story and the hypocrisy of Samuel writing his article in a newspaper known for been racist and xenophobic.

Thanks for the kind words too 🙂

  128. Big Raddy says:

Today, I was accepted as a future husband !

I guess if I keep trying this marriage lark, one is sure to stick 🙂

  129. rico says:

I hope Manure woop the butts off citeh and the chavs draw – same as Raddy I do believe, and as said earlier, many many red cards, fines and anything else that will cause them all problems 😉

  130. peachesgooner says:

Well done Raddy – good for you – many congratulations to you and Mrs Raddy xxxx

There kelsey you wanted some good news 😛

  131. Irishgunner says:

    Congrats Big Raddy 😀

  132. Big Raddy says:

Samuel writes in The Mail because they pay him so much. He wrote in the Times before.

Either way, when Murdoch asks us to pay to read stuff on the web, I will lose the opportunity to read him. Ozzie Megalomania strikes …..

  133. Big Raddy says:

Thanks Chaps/esses. I will inform you of the date and we can raise a cyber glass of champagne

  134. kelsey says:

Well i was on the right lines, sort of.

Well done Raddy, I wont ask the same question i asked peaches. 😉

Bloody hell, first JonJon now Raddy , it’s like a dating agency.

  135. peachesgooner says:

Its a great shame that Samuels opinions should change so drastically by his move from The Times – peaches preferred read – to the Daily Mail. Surely a journalist should stick by his beliefs and write for the paper that best represents them.

    Am I being naive here……..

  136. rico says:

Wonderful news Big Raddy, congratulations to you both 😛

  137. Irishgunner says:

Samuel gets massive money at the Mail – not sure how much but its a lot for a journo.

He is still a good writer but is now “tainted” been associated with that paper.

  138. choy says:

    Congratulations BR!

  139. Big Raddy says:

He does write the same stuff, he just gets paid more. MS has never been afraid of controversy and I guess that is why he regularly wins Sports Journo of the Year.

But any defence of Ade is tough to swallow. The man is a waste of good oxygen

  140. Irishgunner says:

Every single newspaper has an agenda. That’s why I don’t ever see myself getting a journalism job – I don’t change my mind easily, I very much have my own opinion.

The tabloids are a joke, my cousin is a freelancer now but she used to be deputy editor of a big tabloid – she admitted all they cared about is making money and getting advertising.

The broadsheets are okay depending on your view in life.

I studied media for five years so to say I am skeptical about them would be an understatement.

  141. avenell says:

    Raddy well done mate… 🙂

  142. Big Raddy says:

    So….. tomorrow. I am going 3-1.

I fear for our defence, but Wigan really have top strikers. However any team that beats WHU is obviously OK.

I hope I am wrong and Mannone keeps a un stratto pulito (clean sheet)

  143. Big Raddy says:

    Thanks Ave.

  144. Irishgunner says:

Phew – thought I’d killed the conversation there 😳

Wigan are up and down a bit. They beat West Ham and Villa but got beat by Wolves and Blackpool.

  145. Big Raddy says:

Have to go and cook. Lamb, creamed potatoes and fresh green beans for my future wife!!

Oh and of course the obligatory bottle of Italian Red.

    Laters

  146. rico says:

Best I re-post my congrats to you both BR 😦

  147. coadsi says:

Evening all, congrats Raddy all the best.
    so 4-1 to the arsenal.
who do u have to score the goals irish?

  148. Irishgunner says:

I had lamb today – yum

Think I will have a very unhealthy tea though go back to my students days when teatime contained so tea.

  149. Big Raddy says:

Thanks Rico & Coadsi…. Sorry about the lamb Rico ;-(

  150. Irishgunner says:

I think Vermaelen, Diaby (I know he’s not on my team but Wenger will play him), Bendtner x2 and RvP.

  151. rico says:

No worries Raddy, if they weren’t eaten, they wouldn’t be living and I wouldn’t get to see all the little ones each Spring 😉

  152. peachesgooner says:

Irish – unfortunately Diaby has to play if you want him to score 😉

I hope Cesc feels a bit better now that hes had a rant about Ade.

Is Robin fit for tomorrow now and did Rosicky come out of the game unscathed ?????

  153. coadsi says:

so diaby for the OG then irish 😉

  154. Irishgunner says:

My team and Arsene Wenger’s team is too different thing Peaches. Diaby can get a goal coming through the middle.

Robin is a okay and no reports of any problems for Rosicky.

  155. Irishgunner says:

    😆 Coadsi they’ll be no OG’s tomorrow

  156. avenell says:

That’s clever Peaches .. you have a different avatar in the dashboard.. it’s a bit slow isn’t it?.. 😉

  157. rico says:

    I’m offski, catch you later

  158. coadsi says:

well as long as its not us scoring the OG i am good. but i hope ramsey gets a chance ahead of Diaby and Gibbs ahead of Clichy.

  159. Irishgunner says:

Don’t think we’ll see Gibbs till the Carling Cup

  160. avenell says:

I want to see little jack start.. he will be 18 in a few months.. that’s an old man compared to Cesc..

  161. Irishgunner says:

Wilshere will be kept for the CC too

  162. avenell says:

I know.. 😦 I was trying to cheer myself up as I know it’s a diaby day.

  163. coadsi says:

i think ur right, as Leboss reward players that perform poorly with a chance to redeem themselves. but i wud start gibbs and use Traore for the CC. Any news on Vela? i guess he wont be back until after Oct 14. (the end of WC qualifications)

  164. Irishgunner says:

Think Vela is still in cast – his own fault really

  165. coadsi says:

still in cast, really? so that line that was fed to us in August, the 21st to be exact that he was out 1 month was a fib?

  166. Irishgunner says:

I think he is still in cast – not definite so I may be doing him a disservice. I hope he is back soon – he might have missed a chance with the injuries to Nasri and Arshavin and Rosicky only been partially fit.

  167. avenell says:

Nasri’s six weeks is up.. (seemed a bit quick to me for a break) any news on him?

  168. choy says:

October i think avenell is when he’s gonna be ready!

  169. Irishgunner says:

Nasri will have to build back up his muscle and that won’t he? Probably be another 3 weeks at least I’d say

  170. coadsi says:

I say thats about right Irish on Nasri. hopefully he will be back and ready to go after those pesky internationals in October.

  171. avenell says:

Cheers choy.. AA, Rosicky, Fab and Nasri in the same team.. I cannot wait..

  172. Irishgunner says:

Hopefully he’ll miss the internationals, i.e. come back fit after and not before them.

  173. peachesgooner says:

Hi ave – I’ve given up waiting for Phil to appear – are you there Phil……….

  174. avenell says:

    He’s behind the scenes..

  175. peachesgooner says:

I must have done something right if you can see it ave – if its not here by Wednesday I’ll change it back 😉

  176. avenell says:

    It’s quite a close up.

  177. peachesgooner says:

Thats how I like it – up close 😳

  178. Irishgunner says:

I must be off – might and might not be on tomorrow, nephew is coming to visit and I’ll be going soon and he’ll be getting all big while I’m gone 😦

  179. Irishgunner says:

😆 Big Phil looks stressed there – is Drogba coming at him?

  180. peachesgooner says:

    Can you see him – I can’t 😦 😦 😦

  181. Freire says:

    Hello everyone, I’m going with a 3-2 win. o/

  182. PDT says:

Hi Ave, I like your idea of playing Senderos with TV and Gallas, but wouldn’t you want to play Gallas on the left with TV and Senderos in the middle?

  183. avenell says:

Hi PDT Hi Freire…. I have liked the way Vermaelen has been attacking. The problem seems to be so does gallas. it may be good we have senderos just sitting there.
Gallas also seems better as the right centre back.
Senderos and Verm seem to both be left CB’s..

  184. avenell says:

    That’s me all done.. night.

  185. rico says:

    Good morning everyone

  186. PDT says:

    Good morning!

3-1 to us today with both Eduardo and Rosicky on the scoreboard. Maybe Fabregas too.

    Hope Arshavin is back today.

  187. PDT says:

Hi Ave! Gallas has played on the left for us, for Chelsea as well as for France.

  188. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters.

Hi PDT yeah I know, but he says he prefers to play right side and tbh looks more comfortable there.

a lot of 3-1’s about, i’ll put you in.. 🙂

  189. PDT says:

I’d say 3-0 but with the way our back five have been shipping goals, I’ll have to hope only one goes in today.

  190. PDT says:

Here’s the team I’d like to see today.

    Mannone
    Eboue-TV-Gallas-Gibbs
    Cesc-Song-Rosicky
    RvP-Eduardo-Arshavin

  191. PDT says:

    See you tomorrow! Bye!

  192. rico says:

Hi ave – nice sunny day for three points, no, not three pints 😉

  193. avenell says:

+Hi rico.. it is indeed sunny (for a change.
I’ll have the later after the former please.

  194. rico says:

For sure you can, I will be doing the same 🙂

Just popped to the shops to get stocked up, any excuse for a brumm brumm 😉

  195. avenell says:

I watched the ESPN classic last night.. 1979 charity shield Arsenal v the dippers speaking of Brady.. we lost 3-1 though.. 😦

    Brady was pretty good though..

  196. kelsey says:

    Hello everyone.

Kindly put me down for 2-0 Ave. Against the law of averages,it would be nice to keep a clean sheet.

  197. avenell says:

Hi kelsey.. that’s what Charlie Nicolas just picked on sky too..

  198. rico says:

Come on guys, we are going to bish bash bosh them 😉

    Hi kelsey

  199. Freire says:

    Hello all, good afternoon.
    I’m going with a 4-2 win.

    Luck for us!

  200. Freire says:

Does anyone have some stream, please? Help me again, Ave.. lol

  201. rico says:

Alan Mc says we have missed many chances, and thinks it wont be long – cant get a stream 😦

  202. avenell says:

The first one I pasted is good keep trying..

  203. avenell says:

    TV… yesssssss 🙂

  204. avenell says:

    Kirkland for England.. lol..

  205. rico says:

    TV 😛 😛

  206. avenell says:

    Well done Mannone.. 🙂

  207. rico says:

Jay Simpson is on fire for QPR 🙂

  208. avenell says:

We’re clinical this afternoon.. not.. 😦

  209. rico says:

Hate to say this yeat again ave, but I have said it all summer, our strikers are not clinical enough, we needed Chamakh and I am pleased that AW has said he will try for him in January – Alan Mc has said we have had many chances, and should be well in front, we lack a goal scorer and no matter how much fans want Nik to be that person – he won’t!

  210. Freire says:

Too much fouls. Eboue needs to get his feet on form.

  211. avenell says:

Song and eboue are a red card in the waiting.. I would take them off asap..

  212. avenell says:

Nik would have more chance if he played as striker or played at all though..

Last year the more he was played the better he looked.

  213. Freire says:

    I dont think so, Ave.
For me, the more he plays, the more he loses his shots. LOL

  214. avenell says:

Last seasons pre season he was diabolical.. and in the carling cup he got the kids chucked out against Burnley with his crap finishing..
But when ade got injured and he came in he did well considering the midfield was the crab variety..

  215. Freire says:

WHO NEEDS TOURE WHEN WE’VE GOT VERMA??

  216. avenell says:

2-0 .. who scored my stream crashed..?

  217. rico says:

Ave – you and I will have to agree to disagree, I think he is a Championship player at best, just like so many others in our squad !

  218. avenell says:

    Kroenke there with hill wood..mmmm

  219. avenell says:

    dududududu.. 🙂

  220. rico says:

Yep ave, Eboue is another one of those Championship players 😉 😉

  221. Freire says:

In my opinion, Song is one of them too.

  222. avenell says:

If all these players are championship quality, there must be others carrying them.. otherwise we wouldn’t be able to finish 4th..

  223. Freire says:

Sure…Arshavin, RVP and Cesc were carrying them.

  224. rico says:

I am unsure on Song Freire, this has been his best start to a season and has put in good displays in games – I think he will be ok, and the best we have right now to play in front of the defence

  225. avenell says:

You must see a different RvP to me buddy and Cesc is not the cesc of old.
    Cannot disagree with AA though..

  226. rico says:

I just frustrated with our forwards – if only one of them would just find form 😦 AA is different gravy ;)but the others, they are all off form in a big way imho

  227. rico says:

AW needs to be careful midweek, WBA are winning 4-0 and away from home, he needs to pick a strong side.. We need a trophy, and right now the EPL and the CC would be a good start 😉

  228. Freire says:

Song is a monster in defense, but he can’t even make a 2m pass. He must not pass to the other side of the pitch, he must keep on defense. I don’t think it’s a kind of player that has ability to be part of a EPL team. My own opinion.

About RVP and Cesc, they are players that can decide in a minute. Rosicky as well, but Rosicky was out las season. I have higher hopes on Cesc and RVP than in Song.

  229. avenell says:

RvP cannot play the lone striker.. He is never a target man.. we should have Bendtner up front and dudu, RvP, AA etc feeding off him..
they won’t hit form unless the providers and the provided swap places.

  230. avenell says:

Cesc and RvP have age and experience on there side.. song is a completely different type of player.

  231. avenell says:

    Cescy… lol.. 🙂

  232. Freire says:

    CESC ON THE FIRE!!!!!

ISNT IT THE CESC OF OLD?

  233. avenell says:

    It is a deflated Wigan..

I love Cesc and defend him all the time freire so I won’t argue with you on this one.. 🙂

  234. rico says:

WBA are now 5-0 up, and they are playing Boro!!

Ha ha, we are 4-0 up 😛 😛

  235. Freire says:

    See you all, mates.
    nice match

  236. avenell says:

    Cheers freire.. later mate.

  237. kelsey says:

Was it me, or did cesc look completely pissed off after he scored and at the end of the game ?

Will mozart have to pay for a new shirt ?

Great football on the eye against a really poor team, but defence still looks suspect.

Was Vermaelen actually a striker and AW was kidding us ?

Song is OK going forward but defensively shite.

    Eboue is eboue

RVP will get that elusive goal soon.

Eduardo came to life after his goal even though Eboue claimed it.

  238. rico says:

Good win then ave – 3 points and a clean sheet, what more can we ask 🙂

    Catch you later Freire

  239. rico says:

I’m off for a walk – such a beautiful evening and all that – looking forward to see footie first later, of course after Strictly Come Dancing…. And you know what SCD means – it will soon be Christmas 😉 😉

Catch you tomorrow – be safe

  240. Big Raddy says:

I think (& hope) that Cesc unhappiness was entirely due to his pain. I would not be surprised to see him miss a couple of games.

Had we not used the 3 subs he would have come off.

Fair play to him for continuing and scoring.

Nice win against very poor opposition. The gap between the Top 6 and the rest is growing.

  241. JonJon says:

    howdy all…

ive been working nights so ive been asleep today and i missed the game…

4-0 sounds like a pounding but something tells me we werent that great??? or certain players werent that great??

it was nice to wake up,head to the kitchen, sit down with a cuppa and a sandwich to turn on the telly to see the result and then turn the channel just in time to see the ammers smash a penalty against the dippers

  242. JonJon says:

    bollox..spoke too soon

  243. JonJon says:

    yeah..spoke too soon again… 😉

  244. peachesgooner says:

    I’m going for 4-0 please 😆

  245. JonJon says:

guys ive been doing some thinking over the last few days and ive come to a desicion…

im hanging up my boots as a blogger…i simply cant find the time to do it anymore..i Cant find the time to blog properly let alone write for one..so the desicion, although a gut wrenching one, was quite an easy one to make..

ive enjoyed my time blogging with you all..especially on avenell rd..and i wish you all the very best..epsecially those who i have made a strong connection with…

to be honest…blogging to me is just a bit of fun..and always has been…but recently its become a burden…one which i dont need..i simply cant be around as much as i like and i feel bad for it…so again, the desicion was made easy..

i may pop in from time to time to say hello but at the moment i cant see it..this desicion not only applies to here but to all blogs…i wont be seen on any…

good luck and best wishes and up the arsenal…

  246. avenell says:

Okay buddy no problem. Just come on if you feel like it.. if you don’t you don’t..

    I’ll will miss you though.

Just keep in contact and let me know if you change phone numbers.

  247. kelsey says:

    JonJon,

i wish you well and respect whatever decision you have made.

  248. kelsey says:

I watched the whole game on a decent stream, strangely enough on setanta but giving the USA time. had a look round the different sites and the opinions as ever are so varied.

A vital win, with excellent moments against a very poor Wigan side. I hope it was discomfort as far as Cesc was concerned, but he could have at least celebrated in a tiny way.Strange that one. Tomas is back with a bang, and Vermaelen is superb, two players for the price of one,a defender and a forward.

Eboue just isn’t a footballer and Diaby was aagain not particularly impressive.Nice to see Clichy and sagna back to form, and RVP will get it right soon, and Eduardo came to life after his/eboue’s goal.

The downside is that we go all out on attack and still look as vunerable as ever when defending.

Anyway a 4-0 win cannot be sneezed at.

  249. PDT says:

    Arsene on Eboue’s maturing as a player…

“He is a sensitive boy and an extrovert. He plays as a defender but he is a creative spirit in my opinion. That is why I used in midfield because he has good acceleration and a good dribble. I believe he was a bit too nervous at the start but age will help. He will get less excited and his vision will get better in the final third. He shows that now already.”

So now we know. Arsene sees Eboue as the new Rosicky.

Speaking of Rosicky, TR7 was magnificant yesterday. By the end of this season, opponents will fear Rosiky more than they do Arshavin or Cesc. Cesc, who was quite desultory till Rosicky came on, suddenly sparked back to action. He is all one touch action with an absolutely brilliant football brain.

You can see the cirticism has gooten through to Clichy,. He was much better yesterday and a few good games against mid-table opposition will do his confidence a lot of good.

Eduardo is also hitting his stride. Hi volley which hit the post off the goalie’s fingers was absolutely awesome. Put him down for 20-25 goals this season.

People can be as negative as they want, but the fact is that no other team has the number of world class players that we have – Arshavin, Rosicky, Cesc, Nasri, Eduardo, RvP, Vermaelen, Gallas, Clichy and Sagna. The only spot that is suspect is in goal, but Mannone was quite efficient yesterday (not that he had to very much).

With Song and Theo, Song, Eboue, Ramsey, Wilshere, Gibbs, Bendtner and Merida filling up the gaps, I really like our chances. The only position where we don’t have enough cover is CB, but Senderos seems to be playing as well as he ever did, so that can’t be bad.

We have a few more games against “not so good” opposition, so hope Arsene takes the opportunity to play Ramsey, Wilshere, Merida and Gibbs some more. We have a strong squad and it will be better as Nasri, Fabianski, Theo, etc. start coming back. JD will be like a new signing in March as we come to the end of the season.

So, despite the two back to back away defeats, I am actually feeling quite good about this team.

Finally, kudos to TH14 for coming to the defence of ths team, its fans and its manager. TH14 was class when he donned the Arsenal jersey and he is still a class act with Barca.

  250. PDT says:

Jonjon, have fun doing whatever you need to focus on and I sure look forward to the day you will back.

  251. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

Good result yesterday, but obiously shpuld hve been 6 or 7 if we’d been as clinical as our main rivals.

Once again, the overriding feeling I have is amazment at AW’s decision making!!!

We’re 3 nil up at home against Wigan and the pivotal player has picked up an injury and clearly should not be on the pitch. OK we’d used all the subs, but we could easily have held on with 10 men and may well have got the a 4th anyway. Cesc did not celebrate the goal because he was in pain and he knew that he is going to be out for some time. It was a very bad decision by AW. The physio should have told him that Cesc must come off. It is likely that the extra time on the pitch will mean a longer spell recuperating. A very stupid decision for which I can think of no justification.

  252. Rasputin says:

    Hi JonJon if you’re reading,

I’m sorry I won’t be blogging with you any more. I know exactly how you feel – nothing to do with AR, this is a great site! We’ll be the poorer for losing your company – good luck in all you do 😉

  253. avenell says:

    Afternoon Roadsters..

Which teams do we want to win today? 0-0 draws all round for me.. 🙂

  254. Rasputin says:

0-0 draws, red cards, suspensions, broken limbs, lightning strikes, earthquakes, Erica Roe 😛

  255. avenell says:

Coo Erica.. 😯 I wonder what she looks like now? lol.

  256. Rasputin says:

I would imagine that gravity has taken it’s toll! 😦

  257. rico says:

    Afternoon Roadsters

Just spent the last 5 hours walking around The Royal Berkshire County Show and it got vey hot 😦 But at least I got to sample plenty of cheese, wine and different curry sauces, oh and a Mr Whippy 🙂

Anyone thinking of doing a pre WBA post ??

  258. rico says:

Come on Red Nose, sort your team out and get a few goals 😉

  259. rico says:

    Woop Woop, 2-1 🙂

  260. rico says:

That bit of judgement by Given was as bad as our own waiter’s 😉

  261. rico says:

    Bollox 😦

  262. Irishgunner says:

    Language Rico 😯 😆

  263. rico says:

    😳 Sorry Irish 😉

  264. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha a draw kind suits though doesn’t it? Keeps ’em both in reaching distance

  265. rico says:

    Woop Woop 🙂

  266. rico says:

I just want Citeh to lose Irish – and in a big way 😉

  267. Irishgunner says:

So we want the red mancs to win ha ha

I can’t bring myself to cheer for either

  268. Irishgunner says:

Lets hope the Mancs get a few more so in the last few minutes so

  269. rico says:

Oh Blast, goodness gracious me, what a dreadful mistake by Rio 😉 😉

  270. Irishgunner says:

I don’t like Bellamy but he has been playing well for Citeh, hasn’t he?

  271. Irishgunner says:

Fulham are 2-0 down to Wolves, what has happened to them??

  272. Irishgunner says:

    😆 crazy game

  273. rico says:

Tee hee hee – Up yours Hughsie 🙂

6 and a half minutes extra Fergie time – love it 😛

  274. Irishgunner says:

    You happy Rico??

  275. avenell says:

Unreal 7 mins of extra time at OT.. no trainers on..

  276. avenell says:

Hughes is gonna get a fine .. I can see it coming..lol

  277. Irishgunner says:

Citeh get the proper “cheated out of points at old trafford by the officials” treatment 😆

  278. rico says:

Irish – I have to agree about Bellamy, his goals were pretty good 😉

As for Fulham, a strang turn around, maybe Brede is not playing so well having had his head turned 😉

    Mmmmmmme – I can’t stop giggling 😉

  279. rico says:

Hi ave – didn’t you just love to see his face at the end, and how good was the positioning of Fergie just before the final whistle – I bloody love it 😛

Now, come on you Spuds 😉

  280. Irishgunner says:

What about the Spuds vs Chelsea, a draw?

  281. rico says:

Seriously, I couldn’t have dreamt of that result to come in the way in did, the silly extra time goal topped it off – just how will Citeh respond is what I look forward to seeing, and I think it won’t be good for them.

Manure have put four goals passed them, just shows their defence is not so special, and other teams will take belief from that – and that will help us 😉

  282. rico says:

I am up for the Spuds Irish, take three points off the chavs, or even a point would be good – I can’t work out which of those two I dislike more ?

  283. avenell says:

    The Spuds are more gobby..

  284. Irishgunner says:

Fulham beat again 2-1 by Wolves.

  285. rico says:

    Fans or players ave 😉

  286. rico says:

Good Irish – we play them on the 26th I think, need them to have little or no confidence 😉

  287. avenell says:

    Fans and manager.. slobberchops.. 🙂

  288. rico says:

‘Arry has a new ‘friends reunion’ site ave, it’s called ‘Twitcher’ 😉 It has been said that no-one wants it to ‘catch on’ 😉 😉

  289. Irishgunner says:

    Spuds getting a roasting 😉

  290. rico says:

They are Irish – do you think Robbie was robbed of a penalty ?

  291. Irishgunner says:

There was contact so it wasn’t a dive but not a 100% call either. One of those he might have given and might not and he didn’t.

My streams not great so I’ll watch the many replays and angles on MOTD later 😉

  292. rico says:

I am sure too Irish – don’t think it would have changed thigs too much though looking back –

I have to go now, enjoy your Sunday evening – I am still very sad that JJ has gone 😦

    Night all

  293. avenell says:

Haha keane should have gone over and made it easier for the ref..

  294. avenell says:

Has anyone seen bellamy smack the man U fan?
Citeh are going to run out of strikers.. 🙂

  295. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

I’m really hoping that Phillipe is ready and waiting to come out of the shadows 😛

  296. peachesgooner says:

    Yey 🙂 🙂 🙂 there he is………

  297. rico says:

    Morning all

I never knew he was in The Shadows peaches, did he play guitar 😉

  298. Irishgunner says:

    Morning Rico, Peaches

Big Phil to start tomorrow night?

  299. avenell says:

Morning roadsters.. hey that’s a better one Peaches.. 🙂

  300. Irishgunner says:

Any idea of the provisional squad?

I read this one: Mannone, Gibbs, Senderos, Silvestre, Hoyte, Ramsey, Merida, Wilshere, Randall, Watt, Sunu, Szczesny, Bartley, Coquelin, Freeman, Frimpong, Murphy, Traore, Eastmond, Barazite.

I thought Eboue and Bendtner would be in there?

  301. rico says:

    Morning Irish ‘n’ Ave

Two years time Irish that will be most of our first team you have listed 😉 Not bad, eh 🙂

  302. rico says:

I reckon Theo will be in there to, last minute addition no doubt, wish it was on television 😦

  303. Irishgunner says:

Yeah, what’s up with Walcott?? He was meant to be back a week ago.

But Rico you get to see Leeds vs Liverpool 😐

  304. charybdis1966 says:

Morning girls, thought I’d pop over and say after being at the match Saturday the best part of it was to keep a clean sheet. I know it’s only Wigan, but as a man much wiser than me said “Every journey begins with a small step”….so turning over the Wigan, and there handful of fans, is such a start.

As usual everyone of our victories has to be denigrated by the hacks in some way, on this occasion it’s “let’s have a sly dig at Eboue” for his handball and mickey take of Ade*****.

Oh well, I take it to mean the press are seeing us as contenders agains so of course they have to trot out the Anti Arsenal stories.

  305. Irishgunner says:

    Morning Chary,

I’m sure the 10 Wigan fans that traveled were very upset by Eboue racing 5 yards to slide in front of them….

How priceless was Hughes’ face yesterday 😆

  306. charybdis1966 says:

To be honest Maire, I was quite near the away support and he was actualy facing the first block of Arsenal fans next to the away section when he slid. Of course the likes of Skysports,Talkshite and the press will try to make a big deal of it.

I liked it when Robin gave both Eddy and Eboue a lift when we weren’t sure who scored the 3rd. You could feel the postive vibes in the crowds at the south end when he did that.

  307. Irishgunner says:

Wigan have very bad away support. I was at the game last season when about 10 of them turned up again – fair play to those who came though.

Van Persie is taking on a lot more responsibility this season, he was the one that put his arm around Diaby at the Manc game, even though he’s not scoring he’s working hard.

I think too much was made of Cesc not celebrating his goal – he was elated for the first three. He was carrying a knock and he scored the 4th goal against Wigan – hardly something to get too excited about.

  308. rico says:

Morning chary, nice to see you 🙂

    Irish – I think I will give that match a miss 😉

Robin has done an i/v talking about TV and how everyone is so happy and positive, they have a very happy camp 🙂
