Ok, naf title, but we have drawn the ‘Bhoys’ in The Champions League qualifier, first leg is the 18th August across the border in sunny Scotland – in The Emirates Cup we swept aside Rangers, the current champions of Scotland with some ease, so on paper we should be able to do the same with Celtic.
So what can we expect from our opposition – I am not sure really, but as mentioned yesterday Tony Mowbray likes his sides to play football, so at least we shouldn’t need to worry about the usual bus parked in the goal mouth – in fact it should be a very open game and we should be able to play are quick free flowing football.
This is their current crop of players,
Artur Boruc, Mark Brown, Lukasz Zaluska
Andres Hinkel, Lee Naylor, Stephen McManus, Gary Caldwell, Danny Fox, Mark Wilson, Glenn Loovens, John Kennedy, Darren O’Dea, Paul Caddis.
Landry NGuemo, Scott Brown, Willo Flood, Marc Crosas, Massimo Donati, Barry Robson, Paddy McCourt, Koki Mizuno, Simon Ferry.
Scott McDonald, Georgios Samaras, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Sean Maloney, Ben Hutchinson, Cillian Sheridan, Chris Killen, Aidan McGeady, Nicholas Riley, Paul McGowan.
Last year Celtic were knocked out in the group stages after finishing bottom of their group which included Manchester United, Villarreal and Aalborg, in fact they came bottom of their group.
So are we in danger of hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons following this tie, or will we return from over the border very happy, several away goals in the bag and a comfortable home leg to look forward to?
On a happy note – The Dippers new midfielder that it meant to excite all their fans is not fit to play for up to eight weeks – is his name really Bischoff 😛
