As the new season draws you feel lucky??? you??

I suppose its only natural for any supporter to feel excited going into the new season. I cant stand it when we have to go two weeks without football because of the poxy Internationals so two months seems like a lifetime…

But I feel really confident going into the new season and it’s not down to just excitement…We’ve had one of our best summers for years..None of the wrong players have left, we got rid of the biggest negative vibes of last season and our injured players are back…

It seems that in recent years gone by,  we always seem to get the crappy end of the stick when it comes to maintaining stability over the summer…players who were important to the cause either kicked up a stink, left, or done both. Leaving the fans shaking their heads at the fact we had to start rebuilding… Again…

I know some of you may think we are not a strong side, but when you think about it, we are….

We played the majority of last season with our back up players and we still didn’t lose our status as a top 4 club…

If you look at our 1st team…on paper when everyone is fit, it can be argued that that team can beat anyone in the world…with Rosicky and Dudu back and with Arshavin playing a whole season, we are facing the prospect of seeing Wengerball flow freely again this season…Cesc, when he wasn’t injured, had no-one to play with last year so he looked a shadow of his former self..this year it will be different….

Think back to the season when we finished 4 points off the title…this is practically the same team…

The goalkeeper hasn’t changed..

The defence seems to be staying the same. and with the addition of Vera Lynne, I’d say the defence was looking stronger than ever..

The midfield has re-grouped…we have Rosicky back and Arshavin replacing Pleb…

The strike force is better than ever…I know Ade’s gone and he was our 30 goal man that season , but i never thought Ade was our main striker anyway…he only scored 30 goals because all the other strikers were crocked and he played about 500 games…

The only player we are missing really is Flamini..

A man that was vital I hear you say I know, I feel the same..but we have Song, Denilson and Diaby to fight it out for the spot and Song was top of the pecking order I’d say….I know none of them seem capable but don’t forgot Wengers now armed with 25mil…in previous seasons we’ve never known the truth about Wengers restraints with the transfer kitty…well we know he’s got it now…he knows that we know he has it, so Ive got no doubt in my mind that he’ll spend it…hopefully on a new midfielder

I’m not worried about the Dippers..they had a lucky season last season and one long term injury to either Gerrard or Torres puts them right up shit creek…

The Mancs have an ageing squad and have lost their main man….who was worth at least 15 points to them each season…not to mention Tevez…

Chelsea have a new manager and that could lead to another Scolari scenario…

Apart from the Dippers we are the only club that have maintained the stability and we are better than the Dippers..they are just a lucky team…

So I’m confident that next season is our season and I’m confident Wenger hasn’t finished in the transfer market either…

What do you think Ave’s and Avette’s??? Have a good day…today we announce our new Flamini…

at least i’m first here 😀

  3. JonJon says:

    hahaha cartman….

  4. JonJon says:

we should sell eboue…hes good for backup only and he wants first team footy….wenger will try fit him in by playing him everywhere…probably as our replacement for ade!!!!

but i dont want him anywhere near the 1st team…

people say hes a decent RB…but the reason wenger bought sagna is because eboue cant defend…

    just sell him…

  5. London says:

    Good positive post Jonjon

  6. JonJon says:

you gotta be positive london…im sure at some point we’ll see rant from my manic depressive alter ego…probably over wenger not signing a new midfielder… 😉

  7. Cartman says:

    thnx for the post JonJon!

I really hope AW signs that DM!

i do agree that the mancs are a weakened side, when they lost beckham, they finished 15 points behind us! so i wud be surprised if we finish behind them!
and the chavs, well they might push for the title at the start of the season but i think they lose steam midway!
the scousers sure are the favourites and i hope they lose mascherano and alonso!

so, we probably have a greater chance of winning the league this season than the last one!

  8. London says:

Is that right that the bookies have made the dippers the favourites to win the league?

  9. Cartman says:

do u think ramsey cud be the solution to our dm problem?

  10. JonJon says:

    thats the thing cartman…

remember last season when ade kicked up a stink and wenger did his bet to keep him??? it stopped wenger from moving freely in the transfer window…

liverpool are hanging on to masch and alonso by the skin of their teeth and theyve already spent a wad on johnson….

it will set benitez back…he’ll be spending the most of his days trying to keep those two players…

contrary to what the papers say…we are having the best of the summer so far…

and im not scared of citeh either….if gaels not, im not…

if we dont win the league we’ll finish alot closer than we did last year….and if we sign that midfielder we’ll finish top…

  11. Cartman says:

    that’s what i heard!

  12. Cartman says:

city need a good manager and a good defence! if that happens, then we sud be scared!

  13. Cartman says:

    i’m off! back laters!

  14. JonJon says:

i dont think ramseys the answer cartman…

the thing with ramsey is the like denilson is more in the cesc mould…

the problem we have in the middle of the park is that we have plenty of technical players but none of them can get box to box…

flamini was a box to box player…thats what made him different to the other midfeilders and thats why he was important,,he could do the job of two players just by using his energy..and it allowed the attacking players to play freely knowing that flamini could cover the ground in case of a counter….

ramseys not really box to box…so if wenger plays him its likely he’ll do the same as last year and play another man with him to help him….

wenger played the 4231 because due to the lack of a box to box man he had to play the two players doing the job of one…

it looks more solid defensively but it takes a player out of the attack and hence the reason why we looked stale creative wise and seemed to pass the ball side to side all the time…

wenger needs to stoptrying to fit players into the system and go out and just buy the player he needs…

ramseys good for the future but he aint the answer to our problem…

  15. JonJon says:

yeah london the dippers have been favorites for a bit..

  16. kelsey says:

The bookies make us 11/10 to drop out of the top 4,which is great. No pressure, but I predict that we might see the closest points difference from first to last this season. One could argue with 2 of last years promoted club staying up plus the 3 new promoted clubs plus several others who nearly went down, that at least 12 teams could feature in the drop zone, and i expect at least 6 teams to vie for the top 4,which leaves 2 in comparitive safety and nothing to play for.

No predictions at this stage from me as to who they will be,but i think we have just as much chance to do better than last season than to falter.

one man alone stands out for me and that is Arshavin.

  17. London says:

Ok, I know this is way too early but WTF we need something to talk about. What is going to be the team against Everton. This is what I think Wenger will do and I agree with him. Everton will come on to us and so we will need a defensive shield. I have appreciated Song’s range of passing for ages I expect others to realise in the not too distant future.

Eduardo will be used as a sub. Walcott will hand out the oranges at half time.

  18. peachesgooner says:

Morning again, I read JonJons post and then had to go out so I’ve been doing a London and considering my response.

Whilst I’m thrilled at the thought of a first team squad that includes

Its what happens when we have injuries that really worries me – the players that Arsene expects to step up to challenge for a place in our first team squad aren’t good in enough in most positions. Those that are good enough surely shouldn’t they be in the squad in the first place eg Ramsey or Wilshire. I don’t know the answer – I hope Arsene knows though.

  19. peachesgooner says:

Shall I not worry about injuries then……is that too pessimistic…… 😎

  20. London says:

It’s not going to be any fun if you are going to guess correctly everthing I am about to say 😉

  21. JonJon says:

yeah peaches….we all worry about injuries…

as long as its the squad players that get the injuries and not the key players then we’ll be ok…

a perfect example is nasri….its sad that nasri is out but who would you rather have injured for 2 months????nasri or cesc?? or AA??or rosicky…???

our squad players kept us in the top 4 last year so if the key players stay fit weve got a chance..

  22. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters….

good post JJ.. I think I made it clear the other night I was happy and this has been our best transfer window for ages..

London. As you know I was a big fan of Song from when he played in the reserves, he just started to show what he is capable of towards the end of the season, my only concern is Arsene will favour Denilson..

  23. JonJon says:

london that team is what id go with…

id like another player in the midfield to replace song before the season starts but i had to chose from what weve got my choice is song over denilson and diaby…

everton are a good side but we’ll turn em over with that team…everton seem to be a team that starts of slow anyway every season…

if it was dec or januray then id say its too close to call but as its the first game of the season i reckon its three points in the bag..

  24. kelsey says:

I have to mention this again. We need a settled squad before the season starts.3 of our first 4 games are away and the CL qualifier is a one off do or die game.In the middle of that we have a break for World cup Internationals.A good start is imperative.

  25. JonJon says:

    yeah ave…i remember and i agree…

i know alot of people arent happy with proceeding so far but if you think back to previous summers this one has been a stand out one in comparison…

it seems like the transitional period is coming to an end and with ade gone and the arrival of a new CB….its more a case of adding to what we have rather than looking at a total overhaul….im more confident now than what i was at the end of last season…

  26. avenell says:

    Morning Kelsey..

Yeah I agree with that too.. We have a lot of important difficult games early on..

I would like to see Arsenes first choice XI starting a few of these friendlies..

I think a lot depends on Bendtners form, last year in pre season and up until about november he was woeful, he was missing everything.. We need him up and running ASAP..

  27. peachesgooner says:

Morning ave – how are you, any more grass to do today 🙂

  28. London says:

People worry far too much about Denilson; it is not his fault that he was asked to play so many games last season. It was far too much to ask someone at his stage of developement. But, the fact is that he now has those games under his belt and I for one think he will present himself far better than he did last year.

I agree Wenger will favour him over Song but that is no bad thing with a midifeld of Rosicky,Fabregas and Arshavin; Denilson will not asked to be a play maker; he can stay back an tidy up.

The biggest danger, if it is a danger, is underestimating what we have; Song, Denilson and Diaby are strong back up. They are as useful for what they don’t do as much as what they do do. They are prepared to wait their turn.

  29. London says:

Wish we had a game today 😦

  30. avenell says:

That is exactly why I don’t want Denilson playing there.. He tidies up if he is around, but he doesn’t track back to help out the defence.. a 35 year old Ryan Giggs ran past him and got a shot away against Man U..

He is a stand in for Fabregas.. Not Flamini..

  31. peachesgooner says:

Hi London – agree totally about Denilson, considering what he was expected to do I think he was a good stop-gap but I don’t think he improved his game – maybe he just did what he was asked to do for which he should get a lot of credit.

He was more creative when he popped into the team the previous season – with Hleb and Rossicky – hopefully he’ll get to re-develop that part of his game. What d’you think?

  32. peachesgooner says:

    You read my mind 😀

  33. peachesgooner says:

Hi ave – Denilson was always stand-in for Cesc and thats why I think its a shame he didn’t get to do more of that last season, hes only young but now we have Ramsey too……..

  34. avenell says:

Hi Peaches.. Ramsey is still too much of an attacking player to protect the defence, we need someone to get the burners on and track back Song can only do it if he stays back, Denilson just jogs back..

Ramsey is normally the one who gives the ball away, with no cover behind him. I am still unsure about him tbh..

  35. London says:

If we do buy another midfielder, which as a fan I would never be adverse to, I hope he is tall, if we need anything we need a bit move height.

  36. avenell says:

Apparently Yaya gave the Spuds a footballing lesson yesterday..

The Spuds couldn’t get the ball off a depleated Barca side, when they did they lost it straight away..

Only in the second half after Barca changed 10 players the Spuds looked better.. lol

  37. avenell says:

The Spuds game is repeated on SS2 now, Barca when they lose the ball the closing down is superb, like our invincible days..

That is exactly what we need to do now Lazybones as gone!

  38. avenell says:

This is what we need London.. ever seen Denilson do this?

  39. peachesgooner says:

Last summer rasp and I talked about our mid-field all being goal-scorers and playing intelligently so that all the positions could be covered going forward and a couple of players would hang back if needed. Thats what Barcelona do – they attack and defend as a team, knowing what the others are going to do makes it much simpler …….. Come on Arsenal we want you to do that again …….

  40. avenell says:

Our Midfield is made up of good technical players, but there is no real leader, a powerhouse.. We need someone who can make the midfield fire up, with a crunching tackle and a shed load of closing down..

Or did we let him go on a free last summer?.. 😉
Let the love in start.. lol..

  41. JonJon says:

does anyone know if you can hook a laptop upto a pc??? and use the cd rom on the pc on your laptop????

my laptops playing tricks and i have an old pc tower and i just wondered…

  42. avenell says:

I think you need a network card and cable..

  43. JonJon says:

i got the cable…whats the card look like??? is it like a sky card???

  44. avenell says:

Or if your old tower can connect to the net.. can you email your self the infomation you want off the disc?

  45. avenell says:

I think it is built into your computer, we had one put in ours.. yours may have one.. modern computers do..

  46. JonJon says:

nice one ave…im gonna have a bash at hooking it up..

  47. London says:

I am not sure what you are saying? Do you think that we should sign Yaya Toure?

  48. avenell says:

London.. I wouldn’t mind Yaya or you know who.. someone with energy and tenacity.. And a bit of passing and shooting would be a bonus..

  49. avenell says:

    Something strange..

We all called Ade a greedy b/stard and some bloggers defended him…

Now a Arsenal player says the same thing, they want to change the subject..

  50. Irishgunner says:

    Afternoon all,

Good positivity in the post, I like it.

  51. avenell says:

    Hi irish..

    A little question for you…

Do you get kidnapped on a Sunday, then let out monday morning?

You never seem to be around.. lol

  52. JonJon says:

    im back guys…no use ave…

it dont really matter anyway ive gotta get a new laptop cos my screens rubbered….

thats why i want veloso..i know flams gone and yayas taken…veloso is the only player i know in europe who is avialable and has the attributes we need…

and i thought the change of subject was wierd too ave..real fans my arse..he stabbed them in the back and they still cant see no bleeding wrong with him…

    hi irish….

  53. JonJon says:

    irish take no notice… 😉

he used to say the same thing about me on a sunday…he used to say i was in church… 😉

  54. Irishgunner says:

    Ha ha Avenell

Normally of a Sunday my brothers and sisters are home so I think it’d be a bit rude to have my face stuck in a computer 🙂

That and there are GAA games on, like tomorrow Limerick play Dublin in hurling so I’ll be watching that. I’m glad I’ve something to fill in the barren weeks with no Arsenal football.

  55. Irishgunner says:

    Afternoon Jon Jon

Can’t believe some fans are sticking up for Adebayor. He disrespected Arsenal and joined City for money, what’s to like about that?

  56. avenell says:

Jonjon the only reason you go to church is to nick the lead off the roof..

  57. JonJon says:

    😆 ave

irish…its more about pride with them i feel…they cant admit they were wrong….they stuck up for ade all last year and seen it as a personal crusade against all the ‘bad’ fans and the naughty media for picking on poor helpless ade….

now its all turned to shit and hes still slagging us off and hes proved to all the other fans who knew we were better off rid that they were right all along…they cant accept that…they refuse to back down because theyve used the dont be horrible to ade or your a naughty fan all year as their main criteria of being a superior supporter…its backfired…

and suprise suprise they dont wanna talk about it anymore…..

not even after wenger got rid and clichys told him to shut it….

i mean i even seen one comment the other day saying they thanked ade for all the goals and they wished him well????? WTF!!!!! thats as bad as wearing a sky blue shirt and signing blue moon….

then they had the cheek to start critising another fan for saying ade was a prick and arsenal dont need fans like that….

    you couldnt make it up….

  58. rico says:

Hello all, what a day, went shopping….
    For a shed!!!

And now we are in the middle of hammering and screwing ( 😉 )it together – I needed to take a break and consume alcohol – is it too early 😉 😉 😳

I still believe the boss will buy two more players and other than maybe Eboue and Senderos, no other player will be sold…..

    I have arm ache!!

  59. Cartman says:

JonJon, i agree with wat u said but if ramsey and cesc did their defensive work, wud it not be better than the denilson-cesc partnership!

  60. Irishgunner says:

That’s true Jon Jon, a bit sad to be honest. Club should come first – always.

Do ye reckon that Eboue is on his way? And Kolo is been strongly linked away again. AW is making sure the ACN doesn’t get in the way this season.

    Afternoon Rico.

  61. JonJon says:

as arsenal fans we want to see the best for our club…when you have a prick like ade in the team who is constantly disrespecting the club at every opportunity it makes you as a fan want to protect the club from an arsehole like that….

so what if he was still an arsenal player???? it didnt stop him from treating the club like shit and his form last season was crap to say the least as well….. so why should the fans attitude towards the player be any different from the players attitude towards the club….???? there was absolutely no difference…

it works both ways….if you want the fans to love you then you have to love the club….even if you dont love it…stay professional at least and respect the people who pay your wages and have your posters on their wall and your name on their backs….

he got what he deserved all last year…..but he wont care because he was well paid for it and this is what some sections of the support dont seem to realise….

  62. Cartman says:

  63. JonJon says:

i reckon eboues on his way and i reckon he’ll keep kolo…

    hi rico.. 😉

cartman…i agree the ramsey/cesc partnership would look better than the denilson/cesc partnership…

ramseys more direct and isnt afraid to attempt more than a 5 yard pass and shoot from 30 yards..

but saying that we will still have the same problem of no box to box midfeilder in the team…so when our attacking play breaks down i dont think either ramsey or cesc have the ability to act as the ‘anchor’

england have the same problem when they play gerrard and lampard together….

cesc and ramsey would be good in the same team but theyd still need someone like a flamini to play with them…

  64. avenell says:

    Hi Cartman…

Now that tosser Ade is trying to tap up Kolo..

    “I will always love Arsenal”…

Notice also how the fans drove him out.. They wouldn’t have drove him out if his new club paid less wages..

  65. JonJon says:

cartman your having problems becuase the site you are mentioning is putting your comments into spam…

it aint becuase we dont like them….its just to stop bloggers from slagging them off on here like they do on other channels….

we just cut the problem out at the source.. 😉

  66. avenell says:

Ramsey cannot keep the ball.. he drop us in the brown stuff all the time when he plays..

  67. London says:

    Hello Irish

You asked a question yesterday if Hong Kong was safe? I certainly reckon so. I went there with Mrs London and Children then travelled around a good bit of mainland China; I felt an awful lot more safe there than I do when I unfortunately, every now and again, have to venture into South London. Seriously, 9/10 for safety.

  68. avenell says:

Cartman.. if they want her they have her email address..

  69. Cartman says:

its just some bloggers that were looking for her!

thought it was bcoz of the proxy i’m using!

  70. Irishgunner says:

Excellent thanks for that information London. We are playing staying there for 2/3 nights, just to break up the journey.

Any part that you would suggest?

  71. JonJon says:

and thats the reason wenger chooses denilson ave…he cant drop cesc…so he picks the player out of all the other players who can keep the ball, to play with cesc…but it does nothing for our system…denilsons ability to keep the ball is neutralised by the fact he cant do anything else….

  72. Irishgunner says:

    * We are planning

  73. JonJon says:

cartman what would be your perfect arsenal starting eleven…????

going with the players we already have at the club….

  74. Cartman says:

its like the fans i think,

  75. Cartman says:

and what wud it be like if djourou or kolo played in DM spot?

  76. JonJon says:

you never know cartman…with all the CB’s now at the club wenger may move one of them up the pitch…

JD was originally a DM…but personally id like to see kolo tried there…

  77. Irishgunner says:

    Citeh got beat again

  78. avenell says:

I think Kolo is too panicky to play DM, the ball is like a hot potato with him..

We are leaving it a bit late if we want JD playing there… I’d like to see it but Arsene doesn’t..

  79. avenell says:

    I predict a riot!!

  80. Cartman says:

ha, we’ll soon be hearing maureen, hiddink, rijkaard being linked as next manager!

  81. avenell says:

There’s only one Arsene Wenger though.. haha..

  82. JonJon says:

oh dear.. poor ade….and i really wished him well too.. 😉

yeah i sort of agree with that ave…kolos not very composed on the ball in tight spots so i guess in a packed midfield isnt the place for him….

  83. Irishgunner says:

Hiddink wouldn’t go there Cartman, he’s a nomad these days and seems content in the international scene.

  84. rico says:

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I hope the results continue in the same way for them….

ave – you are right, there is only one 😉

  85. rico says:

Hope Ade remembered to pack his Germaloid Cream – sitting for too long on benches can cause dreadful piles…………

    😉 😛 😛

  86. Cartman says:

irish, i said being linked for the job!

  87. rico says:

Now what a surprise, Ade misses a sitter …..

    Ha bloomin ha ………….

  88. avenell says:

Mind you.. I have noticed when we had a good pre season we don’t seem to start so well in the league .. and when we have a poorer one we do well…

Look at the Spuds last year.. they were world beaters until the season started.. 😉

  89. JonJon says:

i dont think any of the top managers will go there either…..

top managers are lke top players…they want CL football…to pit their wits against the best…

i cant see jose or frankie going there to pit their wits against the likes of bruce and hodgeson…

they are stuck with hughes until they get into the CL which i dont think hughes can achieve…

  90. Irishgunner says:

I know yeah Cartman just saying I can actually see the other two going there but not Hiddink.

  91. Cartman says:

avenell, i dont think u can put spuds and world beaters in the same sentence 😀

  92. avenell says:

I think Moaniho would go there, he likes a drop of cash… and he can show Roman he was wrong to give him the golden rivet..

  93. avenell says:

Cartman… you can if you use this smiley lol.. 😉

  94. JonJon says:

yeah cartman if we go by anything the players citeh have been linked to i expect the likes of wenger going to the eastlands with fergie as his no 2 by xmas… 😉

  95. Cartman says:

    lol jonjon

  96. rico says:

It has got Jose written all over Citeh, he can only manage clubs with a huge bank account, he has no idea how to take a half decent player and turn him in to a great player – in fact what he does best is boost their already inflated ego’s and get them to play boring football – bring him on Citeh ……

  97. rico says:

    🙂 Great minds Ave 😉

  98. avenell says:

Rico.. I’m looking for a row today.. what about Porto?

  99. avenell says:

Don’t tell me they played like a sun bronzed Wimbledon…. I know really..

  100. Cartman says:

    ade skying a shot? hahaha

  101. Irishgunner says:

I could see Rikjaard going there although if City studied it he isn’t great with egos.

Although he just started at Galatasary.

  102. avenell says:

Jonjon.. I always see Fergie as a no 2.. 🙂

  103. rico says:

    What Porto Rico 😉

No row with me you old man, I am too happy 😛

  104. rico says:

ave – i guess you are not talking footie terms there are you bad man 😉 😉

  105. rico says:

Irish – Do you mean Glastonbury 😉 😉

  106. avenell says:

I used to drink that “you old man” bitter all those years ago, before I became a lager lout..

  107. rico says:

    😉 😉 😉 for me then 😛

  108. Irishgunner says:

Avenell – Porto had most of a very good Portugal squad and Monaco got to the final, with Depor and some other average team in the semis. It was a bad year for football – I refuse to give Mourniho credit for anything 😉

  109. Cartman says:

Emmanuel Adebayor made his debut after signing from Arsenal and the Togolese international wasted a good chance to equalise, shooting over the top from close range in the 55th minute.

  110. avenell says:

Nice one Irish.. and they were cheats.. 🙂

  111. rico says:

Oh no, I have just been summonsed to the garden, three bolts need to be fitted now the rain has stopped 😦

    Won’t be long…. I hope 😉

  112. Irishgunner says:

😆 Rico, I wouldn’t trust him with the egos there

  113. rico says:

Irish – spot on, that man is poop – even Nat West wouldn’t give him credit 😉

  114. Cartman says:

    Cartman blesses Irish! Amen… 😀

  115. rico says:

    Cartman – 😛

  116. Irishgunner says:

Rico and Cartman, I’m glad we are in agreement 😀

  117. avenell says:

Cartman… How many offsides did he manage??

We will have to do a Ade’s offside count

  118. Cartman says:

and i’m not a praying man!

  119. Irishgunner says:

    Oh and Avenell too 😀

  120. Irishgunner says:

Avenell – that is a great idea 😆 the Adebayor offside widget.

  121. Cartman says:

then u’ll have to watch citeh matches 😦

  122. Irishgunner says:

You could get the stats in a newspaper or on a website I’m sure?

There is a way around everything Cartman 😉

  123. Cartman says:

    hate u irish! 😉

  124. Irishgunner says:

  125. JonJon says:

im so glad ade stayed in the PL….the joy that man is going to give me every weekend…

i often wondered what it would be like to watch ade play for another team…i often said to myself if he didnt play for us id probaby like him because he would make me piss myself laughing…

    and now i can.. 😉

  126. avenell says:

I know I shouldn’t say it…. but I am going to do a hour or so strimming.. 😦

    That’s killed the blog.. lol..

  127. Cartman says:

i’m tired and my shoulders are paining! so off i go…
    see ya tomorrow!

  128. Irishgunner says:

Ha ha Jon Jon you’ll love it although to be honest if Santa Cruz is fit he mightn’t be playing that much.

Avenell, how big a garden do you have? 😆

  129. JonJon says:

i think the same about eboue too…maybe wenger will make this the best transfer window ever and get rid of the pair of them.. 🙂

  130. Irishgunner says:

    Bye Cartman

  131. JonJon says:

    see ya cartman… mmmmkay!!! 😆

  132. Irishgunner says:

I don’t dislike Eboue as much as I did a few months back and certainly not as much as Adebayor.

I give Eboue marks for effort.

  133. JonJon says:

the thing with eboue irish is that hes always capable of self destruction….a perfect example is the game v the spuds….one moment of madness in a must win game and we are facing an up hill task…

he sometimes tries too hard to compensate the lack of natural ability and hes more of a liability when hes like this…

what makes me mad about him most is the play acting…i know hes not as bad nowadays but when your nil nil and in the 80th minute and eboue falls over and needs a stretcher for an injured just make you think get up and play you div…..

  134. avenell says:

Irish.. just over an acre.. It sounds good but it was just a field that was bought next door.
It was left for a few years and it has become overgrown and willows and sycamore trees have got established..
So we have to maintain the bit we have then head into the jungle sometimes..

Plenty of room for camping if you ever fancy a holiday..

  135. Irishgunner says:

Yeah I agree with you Jon Jon, he is just very misguided and short a few cents.

  136. Irishgunner says:

Sounds like you have your work cut out there Avenell.

  137. JonJon says:

he does have his work CUT out… 😆

hes been cutting the grass for the past 2 months and hes got one of those tractor things as well…

id of give up by now…soaked it in petrol and torched the lot of it…

  138. avenell says:

I set light to the mower last year the dried grass got stuck near the exhaust lol..

  139. terry says:

Good positive post jon Jon also like your kind of gardening

  140. JonJon says:

    haha cheers terry…

  141. London says:

I have got someone in the garden that lived there for 17 years, I will just go and ask.

  142. London says:

The area you should head for is called “Central”, there is a good inexpensive hotel called “W” or there is the a hotel called Cosmos near the race course and then there YMCA on the Hong Kong side and lastly I have been recomended Asia There are two main atractions the Peak and the Star ferry. Hope this helps.

  143. peachesgooner says:

Blimey, I’ve just read through all the comments from about 3.30 and you’ve all gone away………

ave – is it the jungle I get to design 🙂

  144. peachesgooner says:

I’ll go back into the garden then……..

  145. avenell says:

London.. Has someone really lived in your garden for 17 years?.. Wow..

  146. JonJon says:

    hi peaches..

london..are you ok??? those people that live in the garden are called gnomes…they dont talk.. 😉

  147. peachesgooner says:

Its really too dark now to carry on gardening – anyone about………….must be time for some alcohol 🙂

  148. JonJon says:

    evening peaches….

do you fancy a laugh…newcastle got beat by leyton orient today 6-1 in a pre season friendly….

  149. avenell says:

Not so funny if we were to buy Taylor Bassong or Martins.. 😦

  150. JonJon says:

do you think we’ll but any of those rejects???

  151. avenell says:

There are a few Taylor rumours about.. to be fair I don’t mind him.. We are always linked to the others..

  152. JonJon says:

the times reckon that kolo has already agreed terms with citeh for 15mil… 😦

  153. avenell says:

That’s not a bad deal .. JD isn’t much worse..

  154. JonJon says:

i dont mind too much but we arent being linked to anyone coming in…

not that i dont think we have the quality in the team to replace these players because i think we do….

its that ive always wanted to sell the players that we can replace with players in the team and then use the money to buy a superstar….

if we end up selling ade, eboue and kolo then i want to see the money used on a david villa…

if we keep it i reckon we are in shit with the finances….

  155. avenell says:

We wanted Kompany, Dunne, Richards.. yet they are trying to buy our CH lol..

  156. Rasputin says:

    Evening roadsters,

I am feeling increasingly the odd man out on here 😦 in regards to our potential for next season without adding a midfield enforcer to the squad.

Martins is actually potentially a very good player. For a small guy he wins a surprising number of headers and always looks dangerous on the ball. AW has been a fan of his for some time now. I don’t think we need him as we have several players that fulfill his role, but he would probably be available at a bargain price as toon are desperate to reduce their wage bill.

  157. Rasputin says:

We will not buy a player like David Villa however much money we amass through selling players. The only top name player we have bought in the last 10 years has been AA and we got him at a bargain price.

  158. JonJon says:

hi rasp…you can never be the odd one out…you know you’ll always be one of us no matter your concerns…

although i agree martins is a very dynamic CF….i always think of Yakubu when i think of martins….at a bargain price he may be a masterstroke but he never really did it newcastle did he???

  159. peachesgooner says:

    Hi rasp 🙂

  160. Rasputin says:

I agree JonJon, its just that we were linked with him long before toon got into trouble – I don’t think we need him. I am just trying to second guess AW. I keep thinking back to the way things have been handled over the last 3 seasons and can’t really see that this summer is significantly different.

Its no good wishing for fewer injuries because past experience has shown that something about our set-up leads to players getting injured (it doesn’t help if we buy injury prone players in the first place!)

  161. Rasputin says:

    Hi Peaches,

    How does your garden grow?

  162. JonJon says:

    thats true re; the injuries…

i think all this ade leaving and eboue might be leaving talk has got me giddy…. 😉

i think this summer so far has been alot better than the previous ones rasp….with the players weve let leave(and letting leave)….we seem to be keeping allour best players for once and letting the horseyshit go…and its normally the other way round…

i dont think we need anyone but a new CM general…but with all the money weve made on the sale of the tosser i dont see why we wont spend it….

you know me rasp im known for my outbursts and my rants about the squad but honestly, the last time i felt this confident we won the league…

  163. peachesgooner says:

rasp – my garden looks amazing, spent all day playing 😀

Can I ask about the cricket……..

  164. Rasputin says:

I’m much happier with the squad with those two going and with TV we are stronger than last year, but we were some way short of manu and a full strength pool team has the beating of us. With citeh being an unknown quantity and manu still to make their move, I am still undecided as to our chances….

  165. peachesgooner says:

Do we believe that story about kalou?

  166. JonJon says:

i dunno really peaches…that certain paper isnt the best for believing…but i remember saying he tried to sign kalou last year..or kalou said wenger tried to sign him…one or the other…so it could be 50-50..

  167. peachesgooner says:

Its going to be an interesting start to the season…….how manu function without Ronaldo and Tevez, Chelsea under a new manager, whether the new citeh gel and whether we can click into action……

  168. Rasputin says:

We came second in the cricket 😦 Raspno was put way down the order at No. 10, faced 3 balls and scored an immense 1 not out!!!

  169. Rasputin says:

Kalou is OK, but no better than what we have … why would we want him or the likes of Bassong….. I do agree with the sentiment that its not worth buying players unless they are better than what we already have.

  170. peachesgooner says:

I thought Kalou signed a new deal last season……hes quite nippy around the box 🙂

  171. peachesgooner says:

Your bat’s gonna be worth a fortune at the end of this season 😉

  172. JonJon says:

    3 balls eh rasp???

the last person i knew with 3 balls was a kid i went to school with…a russian kid called Who’dya Nikabolockoff!!!!!

  173. Rasputin says:

I knew him too JonJon – he was mates with Pat Magroin and Drew Peacock 🙂

  174. peachesgooner says:

    Boys 😳

  175. Rasputin says:

I guess you’re right peaches – its like new 😦

  176. JonJon says:

i cant beleive you know them too rasp!!!!

they had another couple of friends called Phil Macavity and Ivor Biggun…

there was also a young chinese lad who had the misfortune of having only one ball….they called him Watwent Wong

  177. Rasputin says:

Didn’t he have a nasty operation – an awristerectomy

  178. JonJon says:

yeah..but then he changed his mind and had corrective surgery…. a strapadicktomy!!!

  179. Rasputin says:

I thought that was Mary Hinge, or perhaps Betty Swollocks

  180. JonJon says:

No Mary was his mother….she had an affair with a chinese man and she gave birth to a girl with one breast fully developed….they called her One-Hung Low..

  181. kelsey says:

nice to see one or two new faces coming on here.

May I suggest that the “so called rules of engagement” are clarified as a seperate section under each NEW POST ,so there is no misunerstanding and is helpful to those who are not ware,

Something on the lines that we never refer to other sites by their name,or their authors and that swear words are not allowed.(I think). Other channel seem to be the most appropriate word to use, when referring to other sites. Thanks..

  182. kelsey says:

  183. Rasputin says:

    Morning kelsey,

I’m suffering from deja vu – Ade fails to score (only playing for citeh) and we’re about to sign a 17 year old wonderkid……..

  184. kelsey says:

    Morning rasp,

Looks like a done deal with Toure going to city for 15 million.Maybe the fall out with Gallas had something to do with it,when he handed in a request and then withdrew it in January.

Sad to see him go,if he does, but I reckon AW will have lined up a replacement and has known for a long time this might happen.

I still expect 2 signings, one attacker and one defender,,if not one could argue that we are a weaker squad than last season, with the doubts of fitness levels over too many players, that are just returning.

  185. Rasputin says:

I can only think of Hangelaand as a replacement for Kolo – are you aware of any other defenders we’ve been linked with?

I wonder if MH is buying Arsenal players because he wants citeh to play wengerball …. the laugh’s on him if he does because the players he’s buying are the ones that can’t play that way 🙂

  186. Cartman says:

Rasputin- who’s that 17 year old kid?

if toure is going to city, i wud like to see richards coming!

  187. Rasputin says:

Morning Cartman – this is the report although from the NoTW so not that reliable…..

“ARSENAL lead the race to sign Brazilian wonderkid Wellington.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will land the 17-year-old striker by the end of the year – beating off interest from Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea.

Wellington impressed Wenger during a week-long trial in December and in a youth game against Norwich”

  188. Cartman says:

  189. Rasputin says:

The BBC is reporting that ‘arry has flown out to discuss personal terms with Huntelaar and will be signing him for £18m

  190. Evo in Oz says:

    gday all,

how goes it? looking forward to the next game on tuesday morning! The Eduardo situation will be good to see, hopefully his fitness is as good as they say and he dominates! im sure he will! Wonder if sicknote will also play some minutes, i know he was rested a bit after his hitout against Barnet!

  191. rico says:

    Hi-de-Hi Roadsters

    Kolo to City

    Huntelaar to Spuds

We sign a couple of kids and are after a 17yr wizz

What on earth is going on??

I can only think if Kolo goes it is because Arsene wants big bucks to buy two players he has waiting in the wings…. Or do I need to stop dreaming and wake up 😉

  192. Evo in Oz says:

stop dreaming Rico, the coin will go into the bank for sure dont you think!

  193. rico says:

I am hanging on to all hope that it doesn’t Evo 😦

  194. rico says:

Guess he is getting ready to be offered the managers job then,!! :mrevil:

  195. Evo in Oz says:

yeah same, surely 25mil is to be spent, not banked!

  196. JonJon says:

we are skint….i thought we werent and wenger would sign someone else but ive changed my mind….

wenger gave us a little hint of things to come when he did that ‘recession will hit football’ interveiw…

its hit us…the flats have buggered us….wengers selling and we wont be buying anyone….

  197. London says:

And the world is going to end tomorrow

  198. London says:

So the arry going to Madrid to sign Hunterlaar was just a head fake to, no doubt, try and reduce Crouch’s wages.

    They deserve each other.

It seems so obvious to me that there is so much more to come from this tranfer window.

  199. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters..

  200. London says:

    Morning Jonjon

I don’t know who said it yesterday, I think it was Rasp, that we are not even connected with any potential striker……we are connected with every striker going, every single one…well except Crouch but would you really want to be connected with him. Patience people, deep breaths and patience.

  201. JonJon says:

it wont be from us…unless we are selling…

does anyone know when the players are back from Austria….?

  202. JonJon says:

    morning london/avenell…

  203. avenell says:

We are playing Monday night over there arn’t we?

Jonjon you said Diaby plays at his best just behind the striker.. perhaps that is Arsene’s plan too.. so do you trust your own judgement?

  204. London says:

    Morning Ave

Another day and another striker, today we are signing Mirko Vucinic from Roma which is great because with all these strikers the paps tell us we are going to sign this one should take our strike force up to 46.

Slightly more seriously I would not be unhappy if we got Kalou. Someone wrote: “what does he bring to the table that Walcott and Vela don’t” to which I would answer two more year’s experience (he is 23) and 14 goals a season. That said I really don’t think this one is going to happen, his agent is just using us as a lever in a contract renegotiation Kalou has with Chelsea.

  205. avenell says:

I don’t think Chelsea’s style suits Kalou.. So I find him a difficult player to judge. I like his energy though.

I’ve gotta go out for a few hours, catch up later.. 🙂

  206. JonJon says:

i just wondered because ch4 are saying that some geezer from fiorentina is coming to london next tuesday to conclude the eboue signing….

of corse i trust my own judgement… 🙂

i know we have the players in the squad to replace these guys if they do go….id be more upset if we lost AA cesc and gallas….but if we let all these players go for all these millions and we dont spend a penny of it what message is that giving the fans???

  207. avenell says:

I don’t think we are losing anyone that we really want to hang on to like we did last year..

Haha got to go poxy shopping now.. what do I need clothes for?

  208. London says:

Wenger’s reputation of not doing as much as he should in the transfer window only stems from last summer and I agree with the consensuses that Wenger did not cover himself in glory.
But that is just one year… single, solitary transfer window. In every other transfer window during which Wenger has been at the club he has come up trumps and surprised us by signing someone we were not expecting. So on that basis I think my optimism is more rational and valid than other people’s pessimism.

  209. kelsey says:

    Here’s a question to anyone :

AT the age of 17 do you think Wilshere is a better prospect than Walcott was at the same age ?

I don’t think Walcott has improved that much in the 3.5 years he has been with us,though I appear to be in the minority. When he comes on against tird legs with 20/25 minutes to go he is very effective, yet in the CL Semi he was completely smothered out of the game.he insists his natural position is more central, but for now I don’t see it.

Jack on the other hand is a natural footballer with a great football brain, and of the two i think he will go further.

  210. JonJon says:

walcotts pace is his only weapon….when it comes to wengerball..he cant play…

ive had a rethink…up until late last night i totally agreed with your 12.15…my post highlights this, sort of….

but after thinking about selling kolo and eboue ive realised something….

wenger likes to balance the books right?? he always has..hes never spend more than hes made…

he spent 15milon AA and then 10mil on TV= Adebayor…

so now if he wants anyone else he will sell to buy…

    so eboue and kolo=??

im back thinking again he will buy someone else…. 😉

    i was just going through a phase… 😆

  211. JonJon says:

ave…i know i agree…my idea of adding to the squad was on the basis of us selling the players like eboue and ade and if the offer was right-then kolo too…i just want him to spend it thats all….

and not on lee cattermole… 😉

  212. Rasputin says:

    Afternoon Roadsters,

I can’t remember my wording, but the sentiment was not that we were not being linked with any strikers, but that there is no evidence that we have officially approached a striker. When we’ve bought recently = Nasri, AA and TV, its been obvious that we are in negotiations. I don’t believe we’ve made any proper inquiry about a striker except perhaps Chamakh.

I repeat, we haven’t bought a top class player = valued at over £20m in today’s market(apart from AA who was at a bargain price) for 10 years and we’re not going to this transfer window. We live in hope that AW will unearth another gem and polish him

  213. JonJon says:

thats what i want him to do rasp…..

if wenger raises all these funds on selling the players we dont mind losing…i want him to buy a top top name with the money and not another diamond in the rough…it makes no sense….why raise a shit load of cash not to spend it on the ready made player????

and it seems at the minute that theres alot of rumours of the players that are going to leave…but wheres the top players coming in???

other than huntelaar i dont see any…and its not a striker i think we need…we need a CM….and i wont be happy if its cattermole…

  214. London says:

I don’t think you are in the minority on this channel when you speak about Walcott not improving in the last 3.5 years; although, I would add that it is probably fairer to say that he has not improved as much as we hoped in the last 3.5 years. I agree with Jonjon when he says that Walcott can’t play Wengerball; a view that has got me practically thrown off other channels.

But the jury is still out on Theo; he is starting to add tracking back to his game. I have noticed that Wenger is teaching him this in the same way that he taught Rayes. There is still time for him to come good and because of that we have to suffer the 60k a week pay demand.

We are still torturing ourselves over the Flamini departure can you imagine if Walcott left and turned into the young goal scoring Owen at another club…..we would never hear the end of it.

  215. peachesgooner says:

Hes not going to buy a top player – thats not what he does……..he likes to produce a top player.

Arshavin is going to be the key because hes special – he is a top player, his being on the pitch encourages the others to do better. We need him to be happy and to stay fit….. please 🙂

  216. London says:

    Who is this Catamite?

  217. Cartman says:

peaches, arshavin for player of the season!!!! 😉

  218. peachesgooner says:

I think all the young talented players – and I do believe that they are talented or Arsene wouldn’t have brought them to Arsenal – have suffered from the team not doing well. Its difficult to produce the magic with the pressure on – or hand-brake as Arsene likes to say.

If we can put together a run of wins at the start of the season I’m sure we’ll see the return of fabulous football because everyone will be bouyed up.

  219. Cartman says:

    Arsenal reveal new signing:
    Name: Eric Theodore Cartman (A.H.d.K)
    Nationality: Mauritian
    Position: Defensive Midfielder
    Age: 19
    Height: 1.71 m
    Weight: 52 kg

essien mould player! (answers all your question)

  220. peachesgooner says:

    Cartman – I reckon you’re right there 🙂

  221. peachesgooner says:

What no would you like on your shirt Cartman 🙂

  222. Cartman says:

err wud like no. 23 but arshavin has it! guess i’ll take 25 and do an adebayor 😀

  223. peachesgooner says:

JonJon – I think Arsenal need the money – I don’t think its going on any players 😦

Last summer we didn’t have any idea how much money there was – Fizman saying Arsene could spend £30m if he wanted isn’t the same as there being £30m to spend.
Now we know that there is money cos players are being sold but if Arsenal need that money then its not going to go on the team.

I hope I’m wrong – but I think that selling Ade just got the bank off our back 😦

  224. peachesgooner says:

Of course there are other major advantages from selling ade – we don’t have to watch him being off-side, see his lazy lump wandering around the left wing, hold our heads when he misses chance after chance and listen to the rubbish spouting from his mouth…..all good in my view 😉

  225. peachesgooner says:

    Talking to myself…….back in a bit…. 😀

  226. London says:

Wenger doesn’t sign top players because can’t and not because he doesn’t want to. To me it is inconceivable that Wenger wouldn’t want to work with David Villa: financial restrictions that are stopping him not the will.

Before Abramivich arrived Wenger bought the best players. Henry, Pires, Viera, Wiltord, Overmars all show that Wenger is a man who is capable of buying top players.

Our financial position now dictates that we have to wait. After announcing our intentions to buy Arshavin we had to wait to see if anyone else with more money was going to come in and pay more, when it become apparent that this wasn’t going to happen, the deal was finalised.

The same thing will happen with Huntelaar or any other striker we eventually buy: we will put in an offer and then the selling club will make that offer public and force us to wait until the last minute in the hope that our interest will create a bidding war and that my friends is why we will not sign anyone until the last day of the transfer window.

  227. Cartman says:

    i’ll play some tennis…

  228. JonJon says:

    hey cartman.. mmmkay???

do you beleive what tell you??

  229. London says:

I am never quite sure if you want me to discuss the issues you raise; my style, as you know, can be a bit brash. On the other hand what is the point of making the comments if nobody replies, so here goes.

“I hope I’m wrong – but I think that selling Ade just got the bank off our back”

This seems slightly illogical. Just recently the board decided against a proposal, made by Usmanov, to raise 100 million pounds from a share issue. The reason given by the board was that the club have sufficient funds to operate as they wish, as well as adding to the playing staff if needed.

Now I realise this is a very diplomatic answer but the process proves that the club could raise 100 million if and when they wished with relative ease which seems to fly in the face of having to use the 25 million obtained from the sale of Ade to pay back debts.

This time last year nobody knew how deep the financial recession was going to be and transfer belts were tightened. Since then the banking industry has stabilised enabling us to refinance the only thing that could have dragged us down: Highbury Square and with that under control I see no reason to believe that Wenger’s transfer budget has had to be restricted to……..keep the bank off our back.

  230. peachesgooner says:

London – of course Arsene would love to work with David Villa but I think he’d also like to be the influence that produces the next David Villa. I think that if he had £100m he wouldn’t want to spend it on players for a ready-made team – it totally goes against the grain of his ethos. Yes he did spend money in his early days but he was also selling players – kelsey has a really informative spread-sheet on transfer dealings.

Its true that there are financial restrictions on his spending largely due to the new stadium and the current economic conditions but in my opinion he relishes the challenge.

I want more than anything for this crop of players to repay his faith and storm to the top of the Premiership and stay there for the whole season and for us to be dancing in Upper st next May.

  231. peachesgooner says:

When all is said and done London I think Ades £25m will have risen to about £50m – Toure, Eboue and a few ducklings and that is a good chunk of what Arsenal need to find to pay off some of the loan.

I realised after writing my original comment that Arsene was pretty certain that Ade would go this summer and so the board didn’t mind buying Arshavin.

  232. peachesgooner says:

Do you think the board refused Usmanovs offer purely on financial grounds………

  233. London says:

No, but I did say that I thought it was a diplomatic answer.

  234. peachesgooner says:

We’ll have to disagree on this one London – we are run on a very (actually extremely) frugal basis. Arsene loves to balance the books and having that £100m floating around would have done his head in……I’m being ironic there but you get my drift.

When I first got married my husband said just ask me for money whenever you need it and he was good for his word – thats because I wasn’t spending it, once I started spending it he found it necessary to say no. Honeymoon over…….

What Arsene has given us is jaw-droppingly fabulous football – I love watching us play – I go to every game with my heart singing and the most disappointing thing for me is that the fabulous football has gone – not the trophies, although I love the celebrations.

If we get the football back no-one will care a hoot about how much the team cost, how many top players we have, we can fall in love all over again

  235. London says:

I don’t see why there is reason anymore to assume that we are under pressure from loans, certainly not from the stadiunm and Gazidis has said that he has refinaced Highbury Square so I don’t see why it is assumed that we would have to use transfer money to pay off debts.

  236. London says:

Peaches I wrote this a couple of posts back

I see it slightly different, I don’t buy into this idea that Wenger is arrogant and will not buy ready made players because of his ego or something like that. The ethos that you speak of I believe has been forced upon him by the financial restrictions of not just the new stadium but also of the arrival of Abramovic which immediately stopped Wenger from continuing with the purchase of players like Wiltord, Pires and Henry; who, in my opinion, would be the modern day equivalent of David Villa. Yes he sold players then but players have been sold now.
I am very grateful that he relishes the challenge but I am more convinced that winning the Cl is challenge enough for him and if money were made available to buy David Villa I am convinced that he would do so.

  237. London says:

In a nut shell, this all started today as some people’s heads were dropping because they thought we weren’t going to sign anyone else. My point is wait there is still time and still plenty of reason to assume that this will still happen.

  238. London says:

    Time for a nap

  239. peachesgooner says:

Maybe you’re right about Villa London……will we ever find out though…….. 😦 I agree about the CL and reckon Arsene is pretty obsessed about trying to win it now 😉

Did you keep your season tickets in the same position for this year?

  240. peachesgooner says:

Optimism rules – enjoy your nap 🙂

  241. Rasputin says:

Bad things happen when good people do nothing.

If we do fail to buy and then have a poor season, it may be necessary to rethink the strategy!!

  242. rico says:

Afternoon everyone, one shed now complete and a gooner with seriously achy bones…

Who said Theo hasn’t improved, I totally disagree, he has just won the Grand Prix in Hungary 😉 😛

I still honestly believe we will get one or two more experienced players, and the stalling is because of the players who may leave – Eboue, Senderos and Kolo.

In fact, I would bet Ave’s nice green grass on it 😛

Chamakh – I think will be an Arsenal player, he is hanging on for a reason, he is desperate to be wearing our shirt !

  243. rico says:

So if this happened, would you be pleased ???

  244. rico says:

Where you all gone 😦 😉

  245. Rasputin says:

    Hi rico,

Yes I’d take Huntelaar – he’s different to the other strikers we have and that is a good thing. Not so sure about Cattermole.

  246. peachesgooner says:

Hiya – I’m back, had to re-fill the fridge for the offspring 🙂

    That Theo is so multi-talented 😉 🙂 😀

  247. rico says:

Get in there, bloomin hope this has substance, but I also hope the club are prepared to part with a little more if required 😉

  248. peachesgooner says:

That must be where JonJon is today – he said he’d go and find him and bring him back 😉

  249. peachesgooner says:

As I’ve already stuck my neck out today I’d better keep quiet really 😦

  250. rico says:

Hi Rasp ‘n’ peaches – Robin would be over the moon wouldn’t he 🙂

I don’t know anything about Cattermole, but if he can dig us out of a few holes in midfield, I would be happy 😉

  251. Rasputin says:

    Why’s that peaches?

  252. rico says:

Whats up peaches, have I missed something ??

  253. rico says:

Rasp – I was reading your ‘bad things happen when good people do nothing’ – how spot are you, I have a different saying myself, albeit very similar…

‘Bad things often happen to good people who do nothing wrong’

    Sad, both of them…

  254. peachesgooner says:

If you read back a couple of hours London and I were debating…..

  255. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – are you suggesting there’s something we can do if ‘Bad things happen when good people do nothing’……

  256. Rasputin says:

Hey rico ….. another saying I quite like is ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’ – when someone who has achieved something great and says it to acknowledge the efforts of those who made it possible…. a phrase Ade should have used had he any humility…….

There’s always something to cheer us up – the spuds are currently losing to Celtic 🙂

  257. Rasputin says:

Yes peaches … now get off your arse and go round and see Arsene and tell him that the club won’t fall apart if he has to offer another 3 million to get Huntelaar

  258. peachesgooner says:

I can’t keep going round there and offering my help in his decision making……. 😉

  259. rico says:

Rasp – how many times did Henry make that clear, he always said if it wasn’t for those around him he wouldn’t be half the player – I guess that will always be the difference between a great player like Henry and that other idiot… 😉

peaches, but all was ok, it’s good to debate – one’s own views are just that 🙂 Have to say though, you should have spent more of his money earlier 😉 😉

  260. peachesgooner says:

    rico – you’re dead right there 🙂 😉

  261. rico says:

😛 peaches, and a lot sooner imho 😛

  262. peachesgooner says:

Anyone know why a Sky multi-room thingy might stop working……rico I know you double as a Sky engineer

    Spuds 2 down now 🙂

  263. Rasputin says:

I got all excited when I saw this headline …… “Toure excited as striker’s arrival edges closer” … until I realised it was Yaya talking about Ibrahimovic and not Kolo about Huntelaar 😦

  264. peachesgooner says:

This time next week I shall be at the Emirates – now that does make me smile 🙂 🙂 🙂

  265. peachesgooner says:

    Aaaahhhhhh poor you rasp 😦

  266. Rasputin says:

Its a silly point, but I wonder if Vieira does join totnum, how many of their fans will misspell his name – I can’t believe the Armoury would let fans walk around with Viera on their backs – but you used to see it all the time ….

  267. rico says:

peaches – what is your television/sky showing ??

  268. rico says:

Rasp – I did the same, but didn’t want to admit it 😉 😉

  269. avenell says:

Rico.. buy your own TV guide..

  270. rico says:

Ave – Mind your own, peaches was asking for advice but I didn’t see her mention your name 😉

  271. Rasputin says:

    I forgive you ricio 🙂

  272. rico says:

I am very full, just had a roast din dins, yum yum yum 😉

  273. avenell says:

I suppose you only watch discovery shed now anyway..

  274. avenell says:

“He’s dutch, he’s the dogs, he comes from the land of the clogs. Hunterlaar”

    Any chance Mr Wenger?

  275. rico says:

    Rasp 😉

    Ha ha ave 😦

  276. rico says:

ave – i deleted 7 spams today, you know i dont eat meat 😉

  277. avenell says:

    I bet you have? 😉

  278. Rasputin says:

This is what wiki says about him……

“Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (born 12 August 1983) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a striker for Real Madrid and the Dutch national team. Huntelaar is a classic “number 9” striker[1] with good technique and athleticism,[2] who can score all types of goals with either feet and with his head. He has been compared in playing style to Marco van Basten[3] and Fernando Morientes.[4]

Former Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal has been quoted saying about the player “in the penalty box, he is the best player in the world, bar none.”[5] Nicknamed ‘The Hunter’,[5] Huntelaar played previously for PSV, De Graafschap, AGOVV Apeldoorn, SC Heerenveen, AFC Ajax, before joining Real Madrid in January 2009.[6]

Named Dutch Football Talent of the Year and Ajax “Player of the Year” in 2006, Huntelaar was a part of the Dutch side that won the 2006 UEFA U-21 Championship where he became the tournament’s leading goalscorer. He was also named as one of two strikers in the UEFA Team of the Tournament. He is the all-time top scorer of the Netherlands U-21 national team with 18 goals in 22 appearances.[5] In domestic competition he finished top scorer in the Eredivisie 2005–06 and 2007–08 seasons.”

  279. rico says:

ave – you are so so rude 😉 😉

  280. avenell says:

He is the type of striker we don’t have.. A taller version of Dudu..

  281. rico says:

What an asset he would be to our strike force – go Arsene Go 🙂

  282. JonJon says:

Le Hunter would be the next wrighty…

just give him the ball…no messing about…no running out to the wing no passing it to a team mate when your 10 yards out….

    5 yards 10 yeards 15 yards…right foot left foot head….BANG…

we badly need someone like that…and have done for a few seasons now….id like to think dudu and vela could do it but if the chance was there to get the proven thing i wouldnt say no….

has anyone got a post for tomorrow???

    evening all 😉

  283. rico says:

I am off for a walk, catch you all in a while or tomorrow… Stay safe all

  284. avenell says:

    Bye Rico!!

Jonjon..No not that I am aware of.. 😦

  285. JonJon says:

i got it covered mate 😉

    seeya rico..

ave ive been reading through some stuff this afternoon and ive been trying to work something out…i’ll need you to fill in the gaps for me though and correct me if im wrong…

    here goes…

arsenal had a reported cash reserve of 93 mil…
and we make a profit of about 35mil each year….

given these figures this summer we should have around a generous 130 mil in the cash reserve….

    weve spent 15mil on AK47 and 10mil on Germaline….

but we made 25mil on ade….

so that still leaves us with 130 mil in the reserve…

eboues deal is supposed to be 8mil….plus kolos reported 15mil….

    with leaves us with 153mil?????

BUT…in may we had to pay a large chunk of the loan off….reported to be around 142 mil….

which leaves us with 11 mil in the pot…

even without the sale of eboue and kolo we are still 12mil in the red….

so wenger has to sell before he can buy???????

  286. peachesgooner says:

hi rico/ bye rico – why did you want to know what was on my TV/Sky……. tell me later 😉

When does Arsene get home – Friday?…. if we’re not close to Le Hunter by then I’m off to knock on his door……. 😀

  287. Rasputin says:

    Hi JonJon,

That financial stuff you just quoted ….. 12m in the red? … if that is the case, we would have really been stuffed if we hadn’t sold lazeybayor

  288. Rasputin says:

Surely every club in the prem is in debt … its just the way you manage that debt that counts. Someone tell me please how much each successive stage in the CL is worth to the club. I think ‘The Hunter’ would sell shirts for his nickname alone….

  289. JonJon says:

    rasp every club has debt…

we are about 300mil in debt…or something like that…

but we only have to pay 20mil a season of it back over the next million years so we are alright…

but a large chunk of that debt had to be paid back in may…142mil..but we only had 93 mil in the reserve at the start of the season so where did the rest of it come from???

  290. Rasputin says:

JonJon …. if you know all this, how come you’ve been so positive lately about new signings? I thought I’d logged into a different site the other day everyone was so delirious with optimism

  291. JonJon says:

i think the club planned the sale of the flats to help pay this off…but they havent gone to plan…

this is why when wenger has been saying he wouldnt bankrupt this club and recession will hit football soon i beleive him…

i think he means recession will hit the self sufficient clubs….ie us….and it has..

theres a real lack of spending going on at the minute…only the sugar daddies are showing their muscles….

  292. Rasputin says:

That may be partly true, but us lesser spenders are also waiting for the big boys to have their choice before we pick over the scraps.

Businesses have to speculate to accumulate. In business terms, Ade has been a huge success for us. If Huntelaar becomes top scorer in the prem next season he would pretty much double in value – he’s only 25, he would be a valuable asset not a drain on the finances…..

  293. JonJon says:

rasp…i didnt…ive been optimistic because im excited about the season starting and weve sold ade..

i only worked it all out today….i just thought that because we made 25mil we had it to spend…

if what ive worked out is right…we dont have a penny of it…

which would explain why von greenback keeps using our finances, or lack of, to worm his way in

  294. JonJon says:

    any ideas ave???

    you’ll know more than me…

  295. rico says:

peaches – i asked because you said your system crashed, i just asked what was on your screen – ie a blue screen etc…

  296. London says:

You will drive yourself nuts if you try and understand the finances that way.

“us lesser spenders are also waiting for the big boys to have their choice before we pick over the scraps.”

This is so obviously true, so surely following your own logic we need to wait a bit before we start throwing ourselves under buses.

  297. London says:

If you wrote this you have just achieved genius status in my mind.

“He’s Dutch, he’s the dogs, he comes from the land of the clogs. Hunterlaar”

  298. London says:

There is another reason to feel optimistic about Huntelaar coming our way and that is Wenger loves a player that has already played for one of the so called big teams in Europe. The best examples are Henry and Vieira; they gave their all for Arsenal, the principle reason, in my opinion, being that they knew the grass was not greener. Bergkamp also falls into this category. Huntelaar will apprecite being at THOF another good reason to buy him.

  299. kelsey says:

I am back, and peaches has instructions to knock on Kolo’s door if he attempts to move to Manchester.

This is my take on the Highbury Square Flats, having read a bit more today.2 phases out of 4 are complete, there are plenty still for sale, and there will be deposits on those not built.Wenger has repeated the recession warning yet again that it will effect football, and i agree with him.

I think the club have decided to halt the building of the other 2 phases until the recession shows signs of easing.(remember they whole project was meant to be completed by early autumn this year). Therefore they are paying additional interest and at the same time are not for the moment getting the expected revenue/profit from the remaining apartments.

Financially,as we are a prudent club, but at the same time clouded in mystery this might put our finances available for players back by at least 2 years, and therefore we will have to continue to sell first in future before we buy again.

i am not taking into account the money for Adebayor,as i expect a good proportion of that will be spent.

peaches mentioned earlier a spread sheet of players bought and sold under Wenger up to May 2008,and the net spend is under 4 million, which is remarkable.
The bar has been raised even higher, good players do not grow on tress, therefore the juggling act becomes more difficult season by season.

  300. rico says:

London – your last makes so much sense…

  301. Rasputin says:

So it seems the consensus that we think Huntelaar would be a good acquisition. Letting Ade, EE and Kolo go would give us an advantage come the ACN as our squad would not be depleted at all assuming we have sufficient cover for every position.

  302. kelsey says:

is that a London bus 😉

  303. JonJon says:

will you sing it london if we sign him…

    i will…we’ll see if it takes off… 😉

  304. London says:

I will sing it with all my heart Jonjon

  305. rico says:

    I don’t want Kolo to go !

  306. JonJon says:

is that another song rico?? 😉

  307. London says:

I can’t imagine Arsenal without Kolo

  308. rico says:

JJ, London – can I join that chorus please, I really want us to sign him – more than I want David Villa to play for us – but…. the two together, oh now you would be talking…..

    Villa & Huntelaar

    Robin & Dudu

    Theo & Simpson

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh – oh, have I missed someone 😉 😉 😉

  309. rico says:

London – neither can I, I think its his smile 😉

JJ, You hum it, I will sing it 😛

  310. peachesgooner says:

Excuse us but ave and I are on the phone………

  311. peachesgooner says:

You know what hes like……… 🙂

  312. kelsey says:

in that case i will call you back in about 4 hours peaches 🙂

  313. peachesgooner says:

    You know it 🙂 🙂 🙂

  314. JonJon says:

    i phone you next sunday ave… 😉

  315. avenell says:

Phew got rid of her.. now what was we talking about?

  316. JonJon says:

of corse you can join us rico…im sure londons fine with that too… 🙂

london…i cant imagine arsenal without kolo either…but could us imagine 15 mil for him????

and i never thought i could imagine arsenal without adams keown vieira parlour merson pires paddy bergkamp wright henry…

we’ll get over it….10mil and richards would ease the pain… 😉

  317. peachesgooner says:

    Charming…… 😉

  318. kelsey says:

    the Wurzels ave ?

  319. peachesgooner says:

rico – it wasn’t the whole sky that crashed only the multi-room thingy that stopped working. I can’t remember if it a setting that makes it work or if the little mouse thing has died

  320. Rasputin says:

I agree with you JonJon … we had to watch TH, PV and Bobby go and play elsewhere… losing Kolo can’t be worse than that.

  321. peachesgooner says:

    Wheres rasp gone…… 👿

  322. kelsey says:

I read that earlier,Usmanov is in a hurry to get rid of some cash.renault eh.

  323. London says:

When it come to David Villa I have been the biggest pain in the backside. Whenever some poor unsuspecting blogger has innocently said: wouldn’t it be great if we signed David Villa, I came along and poured a cold bucked of cyber water over the top of it with my I speak Spanish and in every interview he gives he says he doesn’t want to come and work in England.

I think the main reason I did it was because I didn’t want to raise my hopes as I always thought that he would go to Real Madrid but when they signed Benzema I ruled them out and convinced myself that he would be signed by Barça but now with the signing of Ibrahimovic that rules them out.

Now if you bear in mind that no matter how much Valencia would like to keep him they can’t afford to — he has to be sold. That being the case where is he going, he has to go somewhere.

I believe this Wenger speak, reminding people that we are in a recession, as far as I can throw it; that is up there with I expect Adebayor to be with us next season or Arshavin doesn’t have the stamina for the PL.

You see what is happening, I am doing what I castigated so many people for (especially Rico) and that is allowing my hopes to be raised. Is it possible to cyber beg?

  324. avenell says:

Huntelaar makes more sense though.. I think Wenger has promised RvP..
He won’t go to Stutgard, Arsene always buys players who have scored against us, er there is a lot of A’s in his name..

  325. rico says:

Guys – just be invited to the pub, so am off for the evening – couldnt resist 😉

peaches – hope you got it sorted…

    Stay safe

    Nighty night 😛

  326. avenell says:

    Bye again rico..

  327. London says:

hello Ave I am sitting here wet from having a cold bucket of cyber water poured over me 😉

  328. rico says:

London – thats funny, I would us to sign love David Villa, but he loves Spain 😦

  329. London says:

When it comes to potential being unfulfilled Mica Richards makes Walcott look like Messi.
I don’t really want him; he needs first team football and should go to Sunderland or something like that. What happened to all that we don’t need anymore potential we need the finished article or we shouldn’t sign anyone if they are not better than we already have?

  330. peachesgooner says:

London – every time we come round to deducing that David Villa has to go somewhere and it could be to us my heart starts racing and the prospect of having him running around the Emirates in our red and white is just too thrilling…….. 🙂 😉

  331. JonJon says:

so von greenback is turning his attentions to F1 instead??

    good news..

i heard a little rumour that he is trying to re instate DD to get the fans on his side seeing everything else hes done hasnt worked…..good luck with that one…

london…what you are saying makes perfect sense….wengers trying to throw everyone of villas scent so he can nab him…

you hear that rico… coming to THOF… 🙂

  332. Rasputin says:

Scrooge here …. Huntelaar is just within our means…. Villa is pure fantasy … but dream on 😛

  333. JonJon says:

but my theory is if we let kolo and EE go and take micah the other way we have 20mil in the sky and a backup for bacattack all in one go… 😉

  334. London says:

    It is just too thrilling.

  335. peachesgooner says:

Hey rasphumbug – you have to ask yourself why did he pull out of the Stutgart (spelling please) deal, we did this the other night by process of elimination……..

  336. avenell says:

I don’t think we need a Villa.. we have dudu and vela.. were better off with the cheapie..

Bucket of water London.. mmmm Sally James.. that’s fantasy.. 😉

  337. Rasputin says:

You’re talking about Huntelaar now peaches … I think we have a chance of getting him …. so not so much the killjoy eh? 🙄

  338. JonJon says:

    rasphumbug… LMAO…

  339. peachesgooner says:

There is no doubt in my mind that the absence of David Dein has severely hindered the club on many levels – firstly he handled the PR much better than anyone since……he would never have let Arsene or players come out and spout rubbish

  340. Rasputin says:

    I preferred Susan Stranks

  341. London says:

Wenger is trying to throw someone off the scent, it would be great if it were Villa but as we all know Huntelaar is more feasible.

Mica Richards is over rated; if you cannot impress within a defence like City’s how is he going to impress at THOF. I rate Djourou and Song higher than I rate him.

  342. London says:

Now Peaches I could discuss the merits of DD for the next three hours but I will spare you that little pleasure until another day. I’m off, speak tomorrow.

    “Rasphumbug” is hilarious

  343. Rasputin says:

Ave’s right, I think Huntelaar will add something that we don’t currently have whereas Villa is another small guy and we’ve got plenty of those

  344. avenell says:

If it was down to David Dein .. your pushbike ride would be much further London.. At least Edelman saved your tyre wear.. lol..

  345. London says:

    Sally James….in a wet tee-shirt…now there’s a thought

  346. peachesgooner says:

    London – I can’t wait, nite nite 🙂

  347. avenell says:

Who are we playing tomorrow Peaches? Any idea of the time?

  348. peachesgooner says:

What am I, arse recorded message……

I’ll check for you sir……the big hand might be on the 5 if I remember correctly and the little hand on the 6……..

  349. avenell says:

    Know your place woman!!

  350. avenell says:

That made me laugh though.. 😉

  351. avenell says:

    It’s okay I’ll do it… Szombathelyi H. big hand 12.. little hand 6..
