Player In Red

Thomas Vermaelen (born November 14, 1985) is a Belgian footballer who plays for Arsenal as a defender.

Vermaelen started his career in his home country at Germinal Ekeren, which later changed its name to Germinal Beerschot after a merge. In 2004 he moved to Dutch side Ajax and made his professional debut on February 15, 2004 in a 2-0 away win over FC Volendam. It was however the only match he played during the season in which Ajax won the Eredivisie championship. He was sent on loan to RKC Waalwijk for the 2004–05 season. At RKC he was not a first team regular, but had 13 appearances in which he scored two goals.

His breakthrough came with his return to Ajax and won the KNVB Cup. This performance led him into the Belgium national football team. The Johan Cruijff Schaal and another KNVB Cup were added in the following season and in 2007 he won the Johan Cruijff Schaal for the second consecutive time.

Vermaelen recently attracted interest from English club Arsenal FC, and Sky Sports reported a fee was agreed between the two clubs in the region of €13 million on June 18.[2] He joined Arsenal from Ajax for a Undisclosed fee on 19 June

Rico ….and she drives the fastest blogsite in the west (to the music of Benny Hill classic)

  2. rico01 says:

Yes – ‘He plays for Arsenal’

What number will he get then guys and gals ???

Will it be Kolo’s -I hope not
Will it be Gallas’s – I hope not

    So the plot thickens …..

  3. rico01 says:

I know – It will be a ‘Silly’ number

    As in Tweety Pie πŸ˜›

  4. rico01 says:

Santa is off to Citeh – fee agreed according to SSN’s

  5. Rasputin says:

Good news / bad news then 😦 I really wanted RSC …

  6. Irishgunner says:

Will Vermaelen get number 6? Is Senderos staying?

Seems Adebayor will be staying unless Inter Milan come in for him, I don’t mind as long as he shuts up and gets working.

  7. Rasputin says:

See how TV’s already grown an inch since he signed for us – he’ll be 6ft 8ins by the time the season starts πŸ˜›

  8. Irishgunner says:

Bendtner is better than Santa Cruz 8)

  9. Rasputin says:

I agree Irish – Senderos is favourite to leave, therefore TV6

  10. Rasputin says:

We’ll find out Irish – RSC has never played for a top club. I reckon if he’d been supplied with the chances we create for Ade he’d get a hatfull.

  11. Irishgunner says:

It’d be great if we can keep Kolo and Gallas – competition for places.

  12. rico01 says:

Rasp – only until a stale pork pie caught me in the eye πŸ˜‰

  13. Irishgunner says:

RSC has played for Bayern Munich, they are a top enough club.

Nikki B will be a top player for us next season, I have a feeling.

  14. Big Raddy says:

Ras. They beat us badly at Man COMS without RSC. How much worse could it be?

And now we have a shiny new CB, we will be in the box-seat. What now for JD? Someone is on their way out of THOF.

  15. Rasputin says:

    Rico πŸ˜†

Now Susie ran between them and tried to keep them apart,
And Ernie, he pushed her aside and a rock cake caught him underneath his heart.
And he looked up in pained surprise and the concrete hardened crust,
Of a stale pork pie caught him in the eye and Ernie bit the dust.

    Poor Ernie, (Ernieeeeeeeeeee)
And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

  16. rico01 says:

Can’t believe that none of you have said what a wonderful post I put up, it took me ages to copy and paste from Wikki 😦

  17. Rasputin says:

Raddy – that was really a low part of our season at COMS wasn’t it? at that point, I wondered if we’d even finish fourth….

  18. rico01 says:

Rasp – is that your gold tops…..

Now a woman’s needs are manifold

    And Sue she married Ted

But strange things happened on their Wedding night

As they lay in their bed

Was that the trees arustling or the hinges of the gate?

    Or Ernie’s Gohstly Gold Tops

    Rattling in their crate

    (They won’t forget Ernie)

And he drove the fastest milk cart in the West.

  19. Rasputin says:

What an expertly cut and deftly pasted post rico! πŸ˜•

  20. Irishgunner says:

Rico – It is the best cut and paste job EVER!

  21. Big Raddy says:

We were pants that day, but it was the start of our winning run.

So perhaps, the result (and AV turning pants) was the catalyst to 4th

  22. rico01 says:

Why thank you Irish and Rasp πŸ˜‰

  23. rico01 says:

That Citeh game was one of the many bitter days of our season, hopefully his injury he has suffered will prove to be worse than Little Motzart’s long term πŸ™„

  24. Irishgunner says:

It was inevitable Aston Villa would turn pants barring a miracle.

A lot of people forget they have a tiny squad and had been playing about a month before everyone else in the UEFA Cup.

  25. Rasputin says:

I have to leave this ‘heated debate’ – off to training, catch’yers all later

  26. rico01 says:

Well done the Ladies, they chased down a huge total to beat the Aussies in the 20/20 WC – Claire Taylor and Beth Morgan were outstanding – They are now up against India in the final on Sunday

  27. Big Raddy says:

GG and Evo will wake up to some healthy abuse. A good appetiser for the Ashes.

I have to go to Brent X again 😦 for the daughter who has to have a new dress to wear tonight…..

My house phone has died 😦 😦 😦

Catch up later – ooh I might even watch Arsenal TV πŸ˜€

  29. peachesgooner says:

rico – what a marvelous post πŸ˜† You’re so clever

  30. Big Raddy says:

Wish I’d had a Mum like Peaches. Mine would have said, ‘here’s some money, take the bus, and don’t forget the receipt’.

  31. Irishgunner says:

I hate getting ahead of myself but anyway, IF Arsenal can remain injury free next season and Super Tom comes back to full fitness and is the player he was we have some attacking options:

Arshavin, Rosicky, Nasri, Fabregas, Walcott, Vela, Van Persie, Bendtner, Adebayor (?), Eduardo.

  32. Big Raddy says:

    Plus Simpson and JW.

  33. Irishgunner says:

    Indeed – exciting choices.

I do hope we don’t get the injuries of last season – that was just ridiculous.

  34. rico01 says:

Raddy – mine would have said, ‘you have legs, do what God intended you to do with them – Walk!’ πŸ˜‰

I am getting a little bit excited about the next coming season, mind you I always do 😦

  35. JonJon says:

    hi guys,

just popping in, im quite excited that we’ve moved quite early…we normally wait until the last minute but the signs are good, lets hope he isnt the last signing we make..

i went to the mancity game…ive been to some games where we played badly but that was soooooo bad, we never got going , citeh were all over us. all the kids were terrible that day.. when me and my pal were heading home we honestly thought 5th place was the best we could hope for as diaby, song and denilson were utter crap that day..

  36. rico01 says:

And Thomas – oh, and AA being able to play CL – things are looking good, and I still think we will sign 2 more ‘adult’ players πŸ˜‰

  37. Irishgunner says:

I think next season could be good.

As long as none of our attackers leave (adebayor??) and we get a battling defender we have a good team.

We have very good attacking options and this summer AW is sorting out the defensive problems early in the window so fingers crossed.

  38. rico01 says:

    JonJon – I have missed you 😦

  39. Irishgunner says:

    *battling midfielder

  40. JonJon says:

    hi rico, ditto,

if we sign veloso next i’ll be very very confident going into the new season… πŸ˜‰

  41. rico01 says:

Stay safe JonJon, come back soon, I know you are busy πŸ˜‰

  42. rico01 says:

Love to Mrs JonJon too – and Veloso would be nice, or even Melo πŸ˜‰

  43. JonJon says:

thanks rico, yeah ive been reading rave reviews about that melo, and i watched him play the other night, hes in the right mould of what we need, very strong and gets about abit, but id like to see more of him, maybe in an arsenal shirt eh?? πŸ˜‰

  44. rico01 says:

Guys and Gals, thats me for tonight, got to cook supper and stuff – have a lovely evening, stay safe and dream of TV…. But only until the next ‘one’

    Nighty Night πŸ˜‰

Hi London – Did you get to see my food review of The Orange Tree on the other post πŸ™‚

Do we have a collective new toy or is that just in your house πŸ˜‰

I need my therapist for a moment here – my mum always said no to everything I asked for and I was a very good girl, in fact my mum still thinks she can tell me what to do – imagine her shock when I say no to her πŸ‘Ώ πŸ‘Ώ πŸ‘Ώ

  51. avenell says:

Hi all.. I am knackered been cutting trees all day..

Peaches.. Why don’t you plug a loud Brixton Briefcase into your RCD then when you turn your power on at your mansion you can hear if it works? πŸ™‚

  52. London says:

I did Peaches, thank you. I feel a culinary trip to Totteridge coming on in the very near future.

Vermaelen is our collective new toy, you can play with him as well, just so long as you bring him back for pre season training πŸ˜‰

  53. London says:

    Hi Ave

Hope your well, I am being called to get off the computer to take part in the non Arsenal world. Apparently there is one! Bye for now.

  54. peachesgooner says:

Ooooh, can i road test him for groin strains then πŸ™‚

Hi ave – did your tree work break my BT house phone πŸ™‚

  56. avenell says:

    Hi Peaches. Ras. london..

I have just been in the veleting department and I need to sue Radox.. I still ache like hell.. 😦

  57. avenell says:

Those shirts are the worst home and away kits I can remember us having..
No white sleeves on the home kit and no yellow away kit.. 😦

  58. peachesgooner says:

Just watching Arsenal tv – havn’t watched it for weeks – tnite it was the FA Cup replay against Hull, affectionately known now as ‘spitgate’.

That Diaby had a great game πŸ˜‰

  59. Evo in Oz says:

great news about the signing hey, it was the first thing i checked when i logged on this morning!

  60. rico01 says:

Morning Roadsters, just popped on to say hello having fed the chooks, now I am off back to bed – catch you all later..

Evo, great news indeed, hopefully a few more to come, but sadly Kolo is being linked yet again with Citeh, I really hope there is nothing in this 😦

  61. kelsey says:

Morning rico and ur goodnight,I know the feeling. πŸ˜‰

    Morning everyone else.

I am sure the TV signing will be a good one, though I hope it is not as a replacement for Toure or Gallas,as to my mind that would defeat the purpose of strengthening the defence.

Think back at the latest signings over the last few seasons, players like Arshavin,Eduardo,Sagna and Nasri and even Adebayor. We may have heard of them but except for fleeting U Tube clips and watching them play for their respective countries occasionally, none of us new what to expect once they
were in the furnace which is the PL.

To be captain of Ajax, speaks volumes and if he is one inch shorter or taller is of no signifigence.

  62. Rasputin says:

Morning Kelsey – I hope this doesn’t answer your question…..

“MANCHESTER City will make a Β£12m bid for Kolo Toure, the Arsenal defender, now that the North London club have concluded the signing of Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax.

City tried to sign Toure in January, but while Arsene Wenger was loath to lose the defender in mid-season, the manager has accepted that Toure wants to leave and would rather sell now than lose him for nothing when his contract expires next summer.

With the African Cup of Nations taking place in Angola in January, Wenger is also aware that he would probably lose the Ivory Coast defender for about a month anyway.

Mark Hughes, the City manager, wants to pair Toure with Joleon Lescott (26) the England defender, to form a more balanced, new-look central defence next season.”

  63. London says:

    Morning Roadsters

12 million for Toure sounds mighty low….very worrying!

Can anyone confirm that TV was captain of Ajax? I hope so because if Kolo leaves we are going to need as much influential material as we can get.

  64. kelsey says:

    Morning London,

I have already confirmed that TV was captain of Ajax and if you look at the BBC quotes from Wenger he states

“Vermaelen made his debut for Ajax at the age of 18 and made 143 appearances for the side as he worked his way up to become club captain.”

Bad News if Toure goes, maybe the rift between him and Gallas hasn’t been resolved, but I can’t confirm that.

A one for one swop with Djorou and Silvestre as back up is not ideal IMO.

There is also talk of Gibbs saying he wouldn’t mind going on loan, to Burnley out of all places, I hope that isn’t true either, not many i can think of that go out on loan come back an improved player.

  65. Rasputin says:

    Morning London,

TV was captain of Ajax last season, and he is a left footer which is an advantage as the left sided CB. They keep mentioning that he can play left back as well, but since we have riches in that department, I can’t see him being called upon to play in that position

  66. Rasputin says:

The papers are reporting TV as “one of the most expensive defenders AW has ever bought” I’d say he was by far the most expensive – obviously Gallas can’t be assessed because it was a player plus money deal.

  67. Wonderboy says:

Good morning people. I really love Kolo but let’s face it, since he replaced Senderos (Was it about a year and a half ago?), he hasn’t been the same player, he was even worse after the last ACN. If you remember Senderos was going great guns, finally starting to look like the player we’d all hoped, next thing he’d been dumped for Toure. That was the turning point for us, Big Phil finally lost all confidence and Kolo knowing that he’d keep his place simply by being mediocre. It is very sad but he should just go.

  68. Rasputin says:

    Morning WB,

I have always thought that Kolo is at his best when playing next to someone more commanding who can keep him in check – the Kolo / Campbell partnership was up there with Adams / Keown at its best. He hasn’t been the same player for a couple of years you’re right. I think he is an emotional player and has trouble working beside Gallas when there is bad blood between them.

  69. Big Raddy says:

Good point Wonderboy. There is a possibility that we could see an overhaul of the defence. If Phil comes back we have far too many CB’s, WG (being a stroppy chap) will head off.

Likely scenario is the loss of both Kolo, Phil and WG by the end of next season. Which will open the way for a CB pairing of TV and JB. We have Song as cover, and some fine youngsters coming through. Nortveldt is getting good reviews from Lilleholm ( πŸ™‚ ) so we will continue with Project Youth.

  70. Big Raddy says:

There is also Kolo’s malaria. Not an easy disease to recover from (is it possible?)

  71. Big Raddy says:

My English is dreadful this morning, perhaps I should continue in Danish…

  72. Rasputin says:

It’s a quaint idea to think that we have all the ins and outs of players pre-planned as if they were chess pieces. The harsh reality for us is that after the signing of TV, although we can show interest in a range of prospective replacements, we have to sell the personnel they are replacing first. The likes of the chavs, citeh, RM and manu (maybe pool) don’t function under the same constraints.

  73. Big Raddy says:

Ras…. Are you calling me Quaint? I will have to ask to you to step outside πŸ˜‰

I agree about the shirts. The home shirt is the worst I can remember.

  74. Rasputin says:

    Raddy πŸ˜†

  75. Wonderboy says:

You are right, when Kolo was beside a big guy, he was great, scrambling about, cleaning up the loose balls. The fact that he was working beside a similar (both awesome) player wasn’t his fault, Arsene should take the blame for that, essentially messing up two players Arsenal careers. I really did think that Big Phil was the future Arsenal captain.

  76. Wonderboy says:

This is the first time that i’ve hated the home and away shirt, haven’t bought either, i’ll just wear my lovely shiny final season JVC shirt. I feel like Dennis with it on.

  77. kelsey says:

Good Point rasp and morning Raddy.

i will sit on the fence about Kolo.Malaria takes a long time to get out of one’s syste, plus the fact he played when injured in the ANC.i still think he has a value to us,but if City really want him and we utilise the cash for a replacement that is fine,I don’t think Big phil is coming back,as he is reported as saying he doesn’t want to.

At least we have bought first before unloading πŸ™‚

  78. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    😳 avatar to the right

  79. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I just couldn’t resist. Heres one that was doing the rounds, when the avatar to the left was doing the biz(with Big John Radford ofcourse)

  80. London says:

When you look at the new home shirt it makes you realise just how importantly the club viewed the signing of TV and just how far they were prepared to go to make him feel at home πŸ˜‰

  81. Rasputin says:

    Hi GG,

Where has all that sophisticated, high brow programming gone? πŸ˜†

  82. Big Raddy says:

    brilliant stuff Ras.

  83. peachesgooner says:

    Morning roadsters

Where have you all gone – researching more Benny Hill clips πŸ˜‰

So we think that Kolo if off then and TV is going to be paired with WG and JD and Phils not coming back…..

  84. Rasputin says:

With the signing of Va Va Voom, we are already in a significantly stronger position than this time last year, with Mozart and Dudu back, the improvement in Song and Deni over the course of last season and the CC kids a year older.

If nothing else happens I wouldn’t be too disappointed – but what I saw of Melo the other day was mouthwatering, he may even displace Veloso on my fantasy wish list.

  85. Rasputin says:

Am I the only person who thinks that the treatment of Michael Owen by the press and Newcastle is pretty shabby. His career may well have been extended if the press hadn’t over-hyped hm in the first place and so much pressure was put on him at a young age. I think he is a decent honest footballer who lost his ‘edge’ after the knee problems and in his position, the loss of half a yard of pace makes a huge difference.

  86. rico01 says:

Well said Rasp, he was an awesome striker, with much talent. Deadly finisher with both feet and head, and could score from near and far…

His biggest mistake was signing for Newcastle, he was never going to ‘replace’ Shearer in the eys of many. He should have come to us, he would have fitted in well…. in the treatment room πŸ˜‰

Morning again all – bit of a busy day so popping in and out, good luck with the willow today Rasp if you are playing πŸ˜›

  87. avenell says:

    morning roadsters..

Man u just confirmed Tevez is definataly going.. so that’s him and winks.. Now the Man U fans know how we have felt for a change..

I’m still gutted that we lost Brady.. 😦

  88. rico01 says:

Bloody hell ave, you are up early for a saturday, Good Morning to you πŸ˜›

  89. rico01 says:

Ave, where is he going, any idea? I am shocked he is far better than Berbatosser – 😳

  90. avenell says:

Owen would score 20-25 goals a season if he was in front of our midfield.. especially last years..

  91. Rasputin says:

    Morning ave, rico’pynpaster πŸ˜›

  92. avenell says:

    Morning Rico.

He wanted to be Man U’s highest payed player .. so he wants money.. Man City I guess..

  93. Rasputin says:

Is MH really the man to control all those dressing room egos.

  94. rico01 says:

Rasp – you have lost me on that one 😦

I thought he said he would only go abroad out of respect for Manure, but I guess if its about money, Citeh or Chelsea could be in with a chance

  95. avenell says:

    Morning Rasp..

Not about for long I have to repair and paint 306 1/4 and bumper today.. At least it gives my gardening muscles a rest.. πŸ™‚

  96. rico01 says:

Rasp, that has to be a no, he will not have the respect a ‘big manager’ would have, he cant even control RunnerBeanio

  97. Rasputin says:

I’m just wondering if the way Mark Hughes is going is in line with the thinking of the new owners and if he carries enough weight to be able to control the ‘high profile’ players. He’ll be out the door if they don’t win anything next season and qualify for the CL.

  98. rico01 says:

Boxers and bumpers today then Ave πŸ˜‰

  99. avenell says:

We are on soccerblogs now by the way if you want a look..
rico has done a lot of posts when you see them all together.. πŸ™‚

I have put the link up in the widgets..

  100. rico01 says:

That is great news ave :P:

  101. Rasputin says:

rico – what have I lost you on?

  102. avenell says:

I emailed them 2 months ago and only just got a reply..

I spent all day sending emails to various sites inc newsnow and most of the time they don’t reply.. it is a bit soul destroying sometimes.. 😦

  103. rico01 says:

    pymaster Rasp πŸ˜‰

But i think it maybe to do with Ernie…..

Got to go now guys and gals, catch you all a little later πŸ™‚

  104. rico01 says:

ave – and very rude of them not to reply 😦

  105. Rasputin says:

    ri co’py n paster

  106. rico01 says:

Ah Rasp, you cheeky tinker πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

  107. Rasputin says:

I’ve noticed that the sites that get on NN have headlines that are usually all instantly understandable as to the content of the article – does that play any part in getting them listed?

  108. avenell says:

I don’t know loads about it, but I do know that they like sites that are origonal.. The problem we have is there are something like 1400 Arsenal blogs.

You just have to keep trying..

a lot depends on how we want avenell road to progress.. If we go on newsnow we probably need to do more posts and be more dedictated to the blog..

I will do a post on it perhaps and see what direction that we all would like to go in..

  109. Rasputin says:

    OK ave,

Some kind of rota for posts might be an idea?

I’m off for cricket – catch up with you all later

  110. avenell says:

    Good luck.. πŸ™‚ laters.

  111. London says:

    Hello Ave

I noticed you said that you were upset that Brady left. Has he gone again? I am still getting over the trauma of him moving to Italy all those years ago.

  112. avenell says:

No I mean’t 1980.. “don’t go Brady” and all that..

  113. rico01 says:

Ave – If I promise not to copy and paste, please may I be designated a ‘post day ‘ ??

  114. rico01 says:

    😳 Hello everyone πŸ˜‰

  115. avenell says:

We do need to talk about when posts go on.. I have talked to peaches about it and she can now adjust the widget boxes..
So if you have a post try to get your name in first and what day otherwise we could have up to 7 people trying to put a post up on the same day..
If someone has spent hours doing a post and another puts a short post on the first persons hard work could be wasted.. So have a look in the widget and make sure the slot isn’t booked before you put something up.. πŸ™‚

and that’s not a dig at you my bestest.. πŸ˜‰

  116. peachesgooner says:

    Hello all

I’m so cold – whats happened to this stupid weather, its supposed to be wall to wall sunshine today well I’ve only seen about 10 minutes aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh

  117. rico01 says:

I don’t do computers and widgets ave,and are you having a pop at my ‘short post’s’ which took me ages to copy and paste – and don’t forget I couldn’t have done them without London’s help…. 😦

    I feel so very hurt 😦 πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

  118. peachesgooner says:

    Hey rico and ave πŸ™‚

    rico – have you got a post ready – you’re on a roll πŸ˜†

I have to finish something in the garden – have a nice evening if you’ve gone when I get back πŸ™‚

  119. peachesgooner says:

rico – I never understood the point of the widget about the posts until Mr Ave explained it to me – now I understand I’ll explain it to you too πŸ™‚

  120. Rasputin says:

    Evening all,

Apparently we paid 10m euros for TV = Β£8.5m … a veritable bargain

rico – I hope your headline wasn’t a musical reference to CDB – he’s my most hated songwriter/musician……

  121. avenell says:

I forgot I was talking to you Rico 😳

Rico.. I said it was not a dig at you and I called you my bestest .. what more do you want?? πŸ™‚

Just tell Peaches or me if you would like to put a post on and one of us will put your name in the widget ..

    Monday Avenell for instance..

It isn’t that important at the moment because the posts can last and stay current, but when the season starts we don’t need 3 match reports and it just stops people doubling up and wasting there time..

I am sure Peaches will explain better..

  122. avenell says:

Rasp.. SSN say Ajax reckon it’s 8 million up front plus Β£2 million in add on’s ..

  123. Rasputin says:

Oh I see ave – the report I saw quoted the Ajax website but omitted to mention the add-ons.

  124. avenell says:

What is the most we have ever paid for a defender before?.. Sagna or the Gallas swap with the cashman I suppose..

    kelsey πŸ™‚

  152. Evo in Oz says:

    morning all

  153. kelsey says:

    Morning everyone,

A thought.Thomas Vermaelen is a left footed central defensive player who can also play at left back.Gallas plays left side and Toure right side,so I find it strange that Toure is the one being linked with a move(remember he had a transfer request turned down or withdrew it in january)Gallas is over 30, let’s hope we get at least one more season out of him, and then there is Senderos, valued at 6.5 million,no one has bid for him,and he is quoted as saying he doesn’t want to return.

My hunch is that the only other acquasition will be another defender and possibly a striker, only if an offer came in for Ade which warranted selling him.

  154. Rasputin says:

    Morning kelsey, Evo,

If we could only make one more signing, I would choose Melo after what I’ve seen of him. There are reports that we are about to put in a Β£15m offer for him – but if you look at the sources they are very suspect. A player like that would greatly enhance our defence as well as giving Cesc more freedom to play his game.

  155. Big Raddy says:

    Morning has Broken Evo,

Peaches. Re: Kitchen….. whose fault is that? I bet you still make their beds πŸ˜‰

TV is our most expensive defender, though if we take into account exchange rates he may not be . Lauren cost just under Β£8m in 2000. At that time the Β£ bought about 1.65 euro. which equates to 13.2m euro. And of course, that was when money really was money not like nowadays.

  156. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Evening all

I reckon if AW can off load a couple, the more chance of signing a Melo type. Whats the feeling of a swap with Chelsea of Ade for Anelka, with cash. Maybe Anelka is too old now but I thought I would pose the question anyway.

  157. Big Raddy says:

    Morning chaps

I think you are right there Kelsey. WG will leave next summer, and if all goes to plan, TV will have bedded in by then.

Given the number of cards Melo attracts in Italy, he could be out for most of the season with disciplinary problems in the EPL. However, Serie A is full of divers and whingers, so he may well adapt to our game

  158. Big Raddy says:

    That would be great GG

  159. kelsey says:

I am against unloading for the following reasons.

To dish ot 5 or 6 players and bring in the same, will never happen, due to our financial restraints.

There is more football than ever over the next 12 months. We have the Confederation Cup going on now(Cesc) the under 21 semis(theo and gibbs) the extra two legged CL qualifer straight after our opening league game, various group matches from September in the World cup,the ANC which could effect at least 3 of our players and a month after our season ends The World cup starts. That is a lot of football, so the emphasis should be on a bigger squad IMO.

  160. kelsey says:

    Why thank you bruver πŸ˜‰

  161. Big Raddy says:

    Good point Kelsey.

  162. gnarleygeorge9 says:

A nut case like Melo might make the choppers & hackers of the PL think twice when playing The Arsenal. When we were winning tropheys earlier on in AW’s reign, we were Red Card City, so to speak 😈

  163. Evo in Oz says:

    how is everyone?

perhaps Senderos will be paired with Vermaelen and we will have to left-sided CBs?

  164. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Good to see the boys of ’71 all in a row on here just now. πŸ˜†

  165. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Stone the Crows 😯 its evo

  166. gnarleygeorge9 says:

…….where ya been evo? Busy watching The Juddanaught I spose πŸ˜‰

  167. Evo in Oz says:

how are ya GG? dockers are level with the cats at 3/4 time, maybe a boil-over brewing?

  168. kelsey says:

are you in our age bracket just under or just over 50 or in my case a lot over.

  169. Big Raddy says:

    A boil-over brewing?

  170. avenell says:

Morning all.. good turnout today.. πŸ™‚

On the Gallas leaving theory.. as far as I am aware he prefers to play right centre back, like he did when he partnered John the shoplifters son at the chavs.

He only plays left side to accomadate Toure who prefers right side too.. So Toure could still be the one outed..

  171. Evo in Oz says:

im keen for a few more early off season signings!

  172. Evo in Oz says:

i would prefer both gallas and toure to stay, but im ok if one goes as long as we bring in one more!

  173. Evo in Oz says:

only 27 days till the Barnet kick off!

  174. peachesgooner says:

    Morning roadsters

I’ve put the instructions on how to get into the Widget for putting up posts in the Girlie Bits – you may have noticed that someone has already been there…….avenell πŸ˜‰

    morning ave πŸ™‚

  175. avenell says:

The good thing about selling Toure (which I am saddened by) is he would fetch an extra Β£10 million more than Gallas and really isn’t as good.

That would get us through this year and then we should be free of our financial restraints..

  176. peachesgooner says:

I think that both Gallas and Toure should stay for this season. Gallas because he is experienced and Toure will be off to the ANC and we’ll need cover and Toure because he loves Arsenal……

    Not a very good reason but I am a girl…… πŸ™‚

  177. peachesgooner says:

Evo – are you planning a trip to the Barnet game πŸ˜‰

  178. Big Raddy says:

I agree with you Peaches. Selling either of them weakens the squad.

  179. peachesgooner says:

gnarley @ 9.27 – you’re dead right there, we need someone that other teams are gonna be wary of – Arsene already has the best/worst record for red cards so its time we got hacking again πŸ˜†

  180. Evo in Oz says:

peaches – no, but i wish i could be there and to all games after that also….

  181. gnarleygeorge9 says:

When the goons win the PL in May, I flying over for the Islington Parade. You coming????

  182. peachesgooner says:

    Thanks raddy πŸ™‚

  183. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Chelsea are to off 25M for Ade ???
    Hull want Owen !

And I really hope Kolo goes nowhere.

    Am I the last up ?? πŸ˜‰

  185. peachesgooner says:

Where should Michael Owen go now?

Surely going to Hull is a non-starter…….

  186. avenell says:

    Afternoon Rico.. πŸ˜‰

  187. peachesgooner says:

Morning rico – it seems you might be πŸ™‚ Are you ok

Check the girlie bits, I’ve put instructions in there how to put your name up for a post πŸ™‚

Blimey, best I go now, looks like I have a lot of writing, or copy and pasting to do!!

Thanks ave, I guess that was your doing πŸ˜‰

  189. Evo in Oz says:

  190. rico01 says:

  191. gnarleygeorge9 says:

How come you are up and about so early, you off playing Tarzan again in the trees πŸ˜›

  193. rico01 says:

Hey george, didn’t the Engalnd Ladies do well…. πŸ˜‰

  194. London says:

    Morning Roadsters

If Ade goes to Chelsea I would imagine that we would become serious contenders to sign Benzema?

  195. Evo in Oz says:

man scum might be in for benzema i see?

  196. peachesgooner says:

There you go rico – London was the last πŸ™‚

Morning London – I heard that Man U might go for Benzema now that Tevez is off too…… 😦

    Don’t anyone tell Irish………

  197. rico01 says:

Morning London – now that would be a dream come true πŸ˜›

  198. peachesgooner says:

It wasn’t that important that it had to be duplicated πŸ˜›

  199. Evo in Oz says:

i have no idea peaches, i cant see any β€œmy dashboards” only β€œglobal dashboards”…

  200. rico01 says:

  205. Evo in Oz says:

  206. peachesgooner says:

rico – thats mad, my 10.42 jumped in front of your comment…….very confused 😦

  207. gnarleygeorge9 says:

peaches, its been doing that to me for a while now, comments jumping in front etc.

  208. peachesgooner says:

Sorry evo – I sent a comment from my daughters blackberry and I didn’t know if it came on automatically or if someone had to allow it on…..

  209. rico01 says:

peaches – we have some raspberries in the garden, i will try and and get a comment from them πŸ˜‰

  210. London says:

I think it is certain that manu will try and sign Benzema but I do not see it as being certain that he will want to go there.

  211. rico01 says:

Especially if Madrid or Barca try for him London – I know where I would rather go ..

  212. Evo in Oz says:

peaches – do you have to have your own blog on wordpress to get to the appearance and widgets bit, or should we all be able to see it?

  213. kelsey says:
