Rumour has it, Arsene thinks we don’t need a striker ?????

Here are the thoughts of an Arsenal fan within an hour of yesterdays match..

I write this having watched from my armchair, and in my living room – no I am not a season ticket holder, and I cant get to many games, but trust me, that doesnt make me any the less a supporter than anyone else, and my view is my view..

The team:

Fabianski,Sagna, Toure, Silvestre, Gibbs, Walcott, Song, Fabregas, Diaby, Nasri,Van Persie – Hoorah I thought, Theo must be playing alongside Robin…

In truth, I am still unsure who was playing where, Diaby seemed to be on the left, Theo on the right, and the rest in the midfield!

The final whistle has now gone and I feel numb, nothing – stunned by the result. The first half was the best football I have seen our club play for a long while, and after 15-20 minutes should have had this game all but killed off.

However, typical day out for us, strike after strike = miss after miss, and something in me knew we would regret those misses.

So, we lost 4-1, but it shouldn’t have been. The last goal was offside so that makes it 3-1 and Ade should have had a penalty so it maybe would have been 3-2, but still we would have lost..

I could talk all day about how we missed so many chances, but instead I am going to go through each player and give my thoughts on their performance..

5 -Fabianski – The first goal was a let in, he stood and watched it go in, he was too slow. Also, he just had one of those days where his positioning was poor.

8- Sagna – I cant fault him today, he defended well, pressed forward and sent a few good crosses in, he was back to his last season days in my opinion.

7- Toure – He was Mr Reliable today, and the own goal was so unjust.

5- Silvestre – Sorry everyone, he is poor, didn’t close down for the second goal, Djourou should always start before him. In fact Ave should always start before him!!

7- Gibbs – I thought he had a very good game, especially after Tuesday, this man will be better than both Clichy and Cole in a few years. On occasions he and 6- Diaby linked up well, but had Arshavin been there instead of Diaby, that left sided attack today would have got us a goal or two.

7- Theo – His best game in terms of getting in the game, today was his chance, he had freedom in a five man midfield (i think thats how it was)
He ran, he ran, he crossed, he ran some more – he chance after chance after chance – Another day he would have come away with five goals, today
he missed one after the other – but his day will come, even Thierry struggled for the first few games…….. But don’t forget, you have to be there to miss.

6 – Cesc – He should never been given the armband, said it before, and I say it again. He is not a leader, he is like Gallas, his head needs to be free, and then his football is free.. Today he was yet again, Mr Average – he was also lucky to stay on the pitch.

6- Diaby – missed a sitter, or maybe two. He blows hot and then so very cold in the game. He is not a left sided winger, in fact I don’t know what he is, but I really don’t think he is an Arsenal player.

8 -Song – What can I say, I thought he kept Essien and Lampard quiet, he did well. Sometimes his passing goes wild, but today the poor chap had no-one to pass to in the second half

6 -Nasri – Another Mr Average performance..

5- Robin – Sorry all, I would sell him, he is all arms and legs now, and did anyone count how many times he fell over today ??

Subs –

6 -Nik – great header for the goal, but some of his passing after that was woeful

4 -Ade – Chip the bloody keeper Ade, not fall over for a penalty – get your passport fella, you are off.

5 -Denilson – Trying hard to think of what to say, but he didn’t do a lot really..

The subs though were all made a bit too late, at 2-0 down we needed a change, we didn’t get it again

How does Cesc get booked and Mikel walks away from a bad tackle time after time without any punishment ??

What more is to be said about a game which should have been done and dusted in our favour, but what we missed was the one player in the position that our leader says we don’t need ?

Our only hope is that last year at this kind of time he said he was going to buy three experienced players, we got one, and he is on the verge of drawing his pension. Maybe, just maybe this year he will do the same. The only difference is that he says we don’t need a striker this summer, lets hope that that means he knows we do…..

Signed Grommit.

  1. London says:

Good post Gromit here are my thoughts.

A Bad Day at the Office.

In a few years time when we are winning the Champions League year in and year out and away supporters are singing to us, “Where were you when you were shit?” I will confidently be able to say that “Yes I was at the Emirates on the 10 May 2009” because that is what we were.

Wenger’s team selection seemed to have more to do with stubbornly trying to prove that he hadn’t got the team wrong in the FA cup semi final than it had to do with beating Chelsea this time around. Diaby, Silvestre, Van Persie and Fabianski were all there, all given a chance to redeem themselves and to a man they failed.

As the game started I remember thinking this is going to be about which team can shrug off the disappointment of being dumped out of the Champions league semi finals the quickest, which gave me confidence because when it comes to disappointment we are, unfortunately nowadays, light years ahead of Chelsea.

My confidence increased when it became obvious that we looked like the side that wanted it more: Walcott was skipping down the wing making Cole look slow and cumbersome; although with hindsight, I am not sure Cole cared that much; safe in the knowledge that if Theo got away he would either make a pigs ear of the cross or miss golden shooting opportunity. Both of which he seemed to do regularly.

On one occasion a good cross did come in, Walcott got to the by line and cut it back; the score was still nil nil as it rolled invitingly for Fabregas who was poised to pull the trigger and bury in the back of the net, when along came Diaby to stick out one of his long legs to take it of Fabregas’ toe and poke it wide. Diaby should simply start thinking about taking up a different sport.

I could talk about how the goals were scored but if you didn’t see the game…well, as an Arsenal supporter and you should have.

The biggest insult of the afternoon though was the ease in which we were beaten. Chelsea were almost nonchalant in the way they stroked the ball around, taking their chances clinically whenever they presented themselves. They seemed to have the same distain for us as we do for Tottenham; a, you are not worthy of being rivals kind of thing.

Bendtner came on and brought some urgency with him scoring a well taken header. I am pleased that Wenger reprimanded him for his antics in the week I whole heartedly agree with the club’s position. Wenger made the following statement:
“We want it made clear that we at Arsenal football club find it completely unacceptable to wear a tie and jeans at the same time. This fashion faux pas will not be tolerated by the club and should he ever do this again he will find himself in serious trouble”

You have to laugh or you would cry.

  2. avenell says:

    Morning Rico/London.

I have enough posts today to build a

Did you know that Almunia was out with a ankle injury and Diaby was in for Arsh as he had flu.. Not sure about JD though..

Good post today by a dissapointed Grommet..

  3. rico01 says:

Morning Ave, and again London –

I agree with the post, we desperately need a goal scorer, the club should be looking behind every closed door in the hope of finding pennies dropped by someone – we need to pull out all the stops and either get Eto, Santa or David Villa –

Looking bad, would it have been such a bad idea to have taken James Beatie on board – look what he has done for Stoke City… This season with all our chances, he would have been on 30+ goals by now

  4. rico01 says:

Ave, i knew AA had flu, but didnt realise that Almunia had another injury – performances like Fabianski’s yesterday make me realise just how good a keeper Almunia is becoming, and I dont think we have seen the best of him yet either

  5. avenell says:

I have never been sure about Fabianski.. everyone says it’s an age thing and he will get better.. Peter Cech won the League when he was 22..

It’s a bit like Anelka.. he knew where the back of the net was at 19..

  6. rico01 says:

Roll on the 1st June, let all the speculation and fun begin..

LJ, Ramsey and Coquelin will be ‘like our new signings’ next season, and I sure hope Lansbury gets over his injury in the summer, he is going to another ‘new signing’ 😉

  7. JonJon says:

ive always thought fabianski was a very good shot stopper but as hes getting more and more games im beginning to see that he his too erratic and too unsure of his positioning….

only so much can be taught…u either have it or u dont…

i still think we need a better keeper than both of them…..

good post by the way…totally agree about robin and gibbs was my man of the match for us…

  8. rico01 says:

Anelka, for all the run around he gave us, what a gent yesterday after he scored – oh to have a goal scorer to finish the way he did at 19yrs old – Are you listening Theo – No of course not, you will be training, practising your shooting, running with the ball and crossing, and no doubt studying a picture of a ‘typical’ football pitch, maybe it will be one that shows you where the goal is 😉

  9. rico01 says:

    Morning JonJon

Forgive me, but that is what pisses me off so much. Gibbs has a howler on Tuesday, walks down the tunnel at half time, beside himself and crying – so much so AW had to replace him..

Five days later he turns up in the same position and possibly as nervous as heck – The man grew 2 inches in stature, he held his head high and did the best thing he could and that is turn in great display of football.

I also think Sagna was up for the game too, he was so much better and his crossing was the best this season.

  10. chaf says:

    Morning Ave

I thought the post gave too much credit to the team! They had no idea what to do… The defense was flat footed, the midfield closed no one down. As usual, lately, I thought Song had to much to do on his own. Walcott couldn’t hit a Portsmouth supporter with an atom bomb. Maybe they should all watch some old videos, and Wenger.

Its flimsy. I would love to sit next to London after watching us win the CL for the third successive year, but feel I would wake up a couple of hours later disappointed. We lost 1-4 to Chelsea at home. That sort of thing shouldn”t happen…

  11. chaf says:

    And morning fellow ranter JJ

  12. JonJon says:

we were good for the 1st 20mins chaf and then chelsea moved up a gear and fucked us up…

if they hadnt of taken their foot off the pedal at 3 nil it could of been 6 or 7

your right….we dont lose at home to chelsea 4-1 and call it improvement……

wengers eyes should of been opened by this season….if they havent there is something wrong…

  13. JonJon says:

    morning everyone.. 😉

  14. avenell says:

    Morning Chaf..

I would be ranting more, but I saw this coming from the summer.. and I knew we wern’t as good as the 22 match unbeaten run against nobodies and a lucky draw against liverpool made us out to be..

  15. avenell says:

    Sorry Morning Jonjon..

  16. rico01 says:

chaf – I thought that until I read the post again, the first 15-20 minutes was the best we have played for a while, and had someone had their shooting boots on The Chavs would have been dead and buried….

    What followed was dreadful 😦

  17. JonJon says:

the problem with gibbs the other night was that he slipped….anyone can slip… clichys made slip ups all year long….

the fact for me is thathe shouldnt of been put into that position in the 1st place… of of the CB’s should of cut out that pass but in the end it was made to look like gibb’s mistake alone…. and he suffered…..

its moments like that where we miss a tony adams…who turns round and says ‘stick close to me kid we’ll get through this together’

    gibbs fell apart…..

  18. JonJon says:

ave….thats my point of view entirely….we saw it coming….

  19. rico01 says:

JJ, I wasnt having a pop at Gibbs, like you say anyone can slip – maybe Vik needs to sort out the boots they all wear ? I was just trying to compare the attitude of Gibbs compared to some of the others who stroll around on mega money and do naf all –

I really hope Bouldy takes over as Arsene’s No2, I really think with all his defensive experience he could sort our defending out, and go to the boss and say – ‘We need to buy – We are poop’ Pat Rice, as much as I love him is just a ‘yes sir’ man, Arsene needs help, some may say in more ways that one 😉

  20. avenell says:

Rico .. your source who said about Ade leaving.. says no way is Pat Rice going to step down..

  21. rico01 says:

No, please say that isnt true, I will go and find him and seek the truth …

  22. JonJon says:

i know you wasnt rico…and i undertand what your saying…

its players like gibbs who are heartbroken by mistakes and run around all day and play their sox off that the fans will defend until the end….even if those mistakes cost us….

what fans wont defend is players like diaby and ade who dont have a clue what arsenal means to us all and dont give a shit whether we win lose or draw as long as they get paid

  23. rico01 says:

How is this for an honest match assessment ?

Ayling will be another ‘new signing’ 😉

  24. rico01 says:

JJ – Those two would be first on my

I think I’m a celebrity but I am not, Get me Out of Here’ TV programme –

Others are currently auditioning for the programme and they maybe too many worthy contestants !! 😉

  25. JonJon says:

heres another comment that makes wenger look stupid and looking for excuses…

wenger has critisised drogba for diving and has lashed out at the dive culture….

    FFS wenger

ade dived twice yesterday and neither were penalties

no wonder the media love to slate us…wenger walks right into it sometimes…

  26. JonJon says:

and eboues right up there with drogba and ronaldo…

  27. rico01 says:

ave – thanks, just checked it, that came out of nowhere, wonder why the change of view 😦

  28. rico01 says:

ave – i didnt see there for that piece of information, that was the Ade find another club 😉

The Rice story came from someone else 😉

  29. JonJon says:

Ave, has something happened behind the scenes???? i cant edit or check the stats????

i cam log in but im restricted…

  30. London says:

That’s funny, are you in moderation Jonjon

  31. JonJon says:

    hahaha… sort of london…

it all looks different though…the layouts all changed……

i only just started to work out the last one and now im lost again…

  32. avenell says:

It’s my ball and i’m not letting you play with

  33. rico01 says:

please ave, can I …. actually I best not type what I was thinking of 😉

  34. JonJon says:

    if anyones about

which striker would you all like to see in an arsenal shirt….?? bearing in mind benzema and villa are out of the question….

    answers on a postcard 😉

  35. rico01 says:

David Villa – he is a different player than Villa 🙂

If not he, then Eto or Santa 🙂

Have to go out for a while, catch you all later

  36. JonJon says:

    LOL rico… nice loophole

  37. avenell says:

First we need to get rid of..

    ……..,’ `.
    ….,;: -o` o` :::
    ..,::’; .–(_)-.:::.
    . :::::( __ )::::.
    ..`:’`’ \_____/ ;’`’;_
    …….. \ V / \

    Ade the

  38. avenell says:

    That worked well then..

  39. JonJon says:

he really was a joke yesterday…

bendtner played for the pair of them and that one on one with cech just summed ade up perfectly for me…

what striker has a one on one and kicks the ball out of play and dives over the keeper????

  40. JonJon says:

    heres my options

1…we sell theo robin and ade and get david villa…

2…. we bring henry back and let him help develop theo

3….we dont buy a new striker…we push AA uptop and play either dudu or vela next to him to feed off…and we spend the money reduilding the midfeild to help support them..if that means getting hleb and flamini back so be it…

  41. rico01 says:

    JJ – I like option No2

What about option no4 – sell Nik and Ade and get David Villa 🙂

  42. JonJon says:

rico could you imagine a strikeforce of AA and Henry????

option 4 aint bad either but i dont rate robin anymore as a key player and he wouldnt be happy just sitting on the bench so we should cash in on him….time we tried a different approach….

  43. rico01 says:

JJ – yes I could, glory days would soon return.

I would keep Theo for another season, to be fair to him, this is his first proper season really, and that has included a couple of months out injured. I say see if he gets it right next season and if not, then at least he is tied down and any sale would get us a good fee.

Robin, Ade and Nik havent been up to very much, the latter though is in a similar boat to Theo, albeit he hasnt been injured, but he is still young, there is still something about him though that makes me think he wont make it at top flight level ( ok, not even with us 😉 )

I would sell all three and get Henry or Eto, and David Villa. Then sell Diaby, Denilson, Eboue and Senderos and get Yaya and a CH – That would do for me, as Coquelin, LJ, Ramsey, Lansbury, Merida and maybe even Barazite will all have a role next season..

  44. JonJon says:

thats the way i see it rico…all the players that you have just mentioned that stand out in the reserves offer the same if not more than players like EE denilson diaby etc…we wouldnt be missing anything if we sold these players and bought a couple of superstars with the takings…and filled the gaps with the talented kids that wenger has raved on about for so long…

  45. JonJon says:

if wenger thinks that diaby offers more than jacky on ther left wing then its just french favoritism…

jacky may be a hobbit but he cant do no worse

  46. rico01 says:

JJ – I dont understand where LJ has been or is, dont thin k he has been in the reserves, something makes me think he has been naughty 😉

  47. rico01 says:

Both LJ and Bischoff are in the first team squad, but its like they are in the –

    wherthefuckyarethey tribe 😉

  48. JonJon says:

hahahaha….thats a good point about jacky… we should put up some missing posters…

dont care about bischoff…forgot we had him…

  49. rico01 says:

JJ, but you just know Bischoff will have a good pre-season, Arsene will say it will be like another new signing 🙄

  50. JonJon says:

dudu and rosick will be like new signings….

i cant wait until august and we sign no one again

  51. rico01 says:

JJ – I will have a friendly bet with you that Arsene makes two signings at least, and not players who still need nappie’s 🙂

  52. raif says:

our whole team needs brain surgery for next season

  53. rico01 says:

raif – didnt i just read that 🙂

How are you doing, long time and all that

  54. raif says:

yep you sure did read it lol

im doing well., busy with the missus and the baby. which they are both doing fine, 🙂

other then that just trying to faze out anything arsenal.

  55. rico01 says:

Good to hear that all is fab, well, at home anyway which is a lot more than can be said with our sad footie club 😦

  56. JonJon says:

id like to say your on rico but i think wenger will spend some money too…

hi raif good to see ya

  57. raif says:

    hi jonJ mate..

    jope u been good fella

  58. rico01 says:

thats two of us then JJ 😛

  59. JonJon says:

all good matey…abit peeved off with wenger but hey… will he ever listen..

  60. raif says:

yeah same here man. the wenger of old was the man..

this wenger we seem to have liveson another planet,

i think its called Youth Prime

  61. rico01 says:

woops, i think i have popped into moderation, sorry ave 😦

  62. rico01 says:

JJ, that i/v is a tweaked, and twisted one, just read the full one and it is very different

  63. rico01 says:

JJ, that was meant – I have just read the full i/v 😦

  64. JonJon says:

    hahaha rico i read your 1st comment…

i hope thats true…id hate for him to be unhappy already..

  65. JonJon says:

    have u got it rico???

  66. rico01 says:

JJ – totally the opposite, he is really happy and surprised that he is playing so well on the LW…
I have just sent a comment to the Daily Mail telling them just how naughty they are – I am sure they will read it and take it on board before typing such a distorted version of events again 😛

Ah, did you bin my 1st comment 😉

  67. JonJon says:

no rico it automatically went in the bin because of a word you used that it banned on here…

it wasnt naughty though….i know it was an innocent mistake… 😉

  68. JonJon says:

may i add thats its banned to stop ppl slagging them off…

not because we dont like them….

cut it from the source i say…. 😉

  69. rico01 says:

JJ – soon as i pressed the button to send my comment I thought it might – I wouldnt ever do that, they got me into blogging 😛

    Damn, I wish I hadnt 😉

  70. JonJon says:

i know rico, it was innocent.. 😉

  71. rico01 says:

    Tomato Sauce JJ ?? 😉

  72. JonJon says:

    I prefer Barbeque mmmm

  73. rico01 says:

    Now you are talking 😛

Got to dash – may be back later – you all be good 🙂

  74. chaf says:

    Good evening.

Just re read your 10.31 again (ok I’ve haven’t gotta life). One little mistake in there that would not help your claim of confidence when looking back in history! Now you know I’m not one to nit pick, but you will thank me in years to come…

  75. London says:

I don’t understand have you found a photo of me wearing a tie and jeans?

  76. chaf says:

    HAhahahahaha. Thats a corker… and white trainers…

No you did a bit of a George Bush!

You did solemnly declare you were at the Emirates on the 11th May, which is today! Maybe you were?

  77. London says:

Well I have just re-read it twice and ok the Chelsea rival thing is a bit silly but I am lost as to any thing else I might regret.

  78. chaf says:

Who wants who to go down tonight, I rather like the Middlesboro owner, (apart from his choice of managers)..

  79. London says:

Ok, I have got it, you were right you have no life 😉

  80. chaf says:

And by the way I do have some embarrassing photos of you but not THAT embarrassing…

  81. London says:

You certainly dodged the bullets this week, it has been miserable, the bloke who used to sit behind us at Highbury was so sheepish when he arrived (Benwell and Bob growled at him as he passed) and down right embarrassed when the chavs started singing at the top of their voices 3-0 and you all ran out.

  82. chaf says:

I might not have been there but the bullets ricocheted off you lot onto the rest of us at home. (If thats the right saying).

At least you didn’t have to put up with a close up of the Drogba moniker. I’m surprised he has any energy with the amount of sleepless nights he must have with all the cheating. His karma must have a massive overdraft on it.

He hasn’t got a fleet of cars at home like the rest, he’s probably got a fleet of wheelchairs… I’m opening a bottle of wine….

  83. chaf says:

By the way Tony Cascarello called him a cheat on sky sports last week. First of many I hope..

  84. rico01 says:

Newcastle, Hull and sadly WBA to go down, mind you WBA could stay up if results go their way

    Evening All 😉

  85. rico01 says:

All quiet so I am offski again,

Where is peaches 😦 and raddy 😦

  86. rico01 says:

Hot Stuff is playing while I cook, now that has to be a good omen – the tide is going to change 😛

  87. London says:

Blogging and cooking at the same time…impressive

    What are you making?

  88. rico01 says:

    London – a mess 😛

  89. London says:

    That’s funny, I’m off.

  90. rico01 says:

London – sorry, i couldnt resist my last 😉

pasta and home made pesto, very simple really 😉

Now I am off to dine …. yum yum

  91. rico01 says:

I am off seeing as none of you can be bothered to speak 😉 😉 😉

    Nighty Night

  92. rico01 says:

    Morning All

The Daily Mirror are reporting we are after Bolton’s Gary Cahill, and the reserves win 2-0 with Jay ET scoring again, wonder if he is on the verge of the first team squad – at least he knows where the goal is it seems 😉

  93. rico01 says:

Guess you are all in bed or getting ready for work 😉

    Catch up later

  94. Big Raddy says:

    Work ? If only …..

I was so disgruntled I couldn’t write yesterday. Not just with the team, but with the abuse everyone (with the exception of NB) got.

I realise I see life through rose coloured glasses (thank goodness), but I felt the whole game swung on one event that was outside AW’s control …. Arshavin’s flu. Had AA played in place of Diaby, he would have scored the open goal. He would have put immense pressure on Boswinga, he would have stopped RvP’s drift out to the left.

I liked the layout of the team, I liked the commitment to attack. Replace Silvestre with a decent CB, and we have a team.

The Chavs were fortunate with the score, it didn’t reflect the game. Drogba dived for the freekick for the first. The second was a brilliant goal, though Anelka should have been closed down so close to the box.The third was a lucky deflection. The last was offside.

I do not accept the ‘men against boys’ argument. Where we lost the game was in the finishing. Theo could have had a hatrick, and certainly should have buried at least one of his chances. RvP ‘s shooting was poor, and Diaby is not a first team player (nor should he be)

I was delighted to see Ade on the bench, he really has to go. Nik came on and scored a fine goal – not many beat a Chav CB one on one in the air.

For the future, if we add Dudu, AA and a CB, to that team we will be OK for a top 3 finish …. IMHO. Though the addition of a GK, Striker and DM would add impetus.

  95. Big Raddy says:

Having read my last bit …. I realise that there is an acceptance that we cannot compete for the Championship! Such is my level of expectancy that I am satisfied with Top 3.

But in all honestly, we are nowhere near MU. We need the type of root and branch treatment that starts at the very top and goes through to the medical staff.

Why are our top players so frequently injured? Why is our defensive policy not working? Why are we not bringing through players with a bit of bulk about them? Why are we so poor at negotiating for players? Is it just Dein’s departure?

What has happened to our work ethic? How can AW allow Ade to underachieve on such a regular basis? Why can’t we cross a ball? If one in 5 hits an AFC player I would be shocked.

This is basic stuff, and we are nowhere near sorting out these problems. As I see it , the problems do not lie solely at the feet of the playing staff. We need fighters in the ranks, and we just don’t have them – with the notable exception of William Gallas.

Just another view of our team to balance my last post… 😉

  96. rico01 says:

Morning Raddy – personally I agreed with the post, until the jammy chavs scored their first, that was some of the best football our team has played in a long while. I also have the view that if Theo had taken a few of his chances we would have won that game and at a stroll.

Silvestre and Diaby were very weak and poor. Even Andy Gray said the Drogba free kick was a farce. Silvestre should closed down Anelka, but he showed again he is too slow and his positioning is very bad at times.

I said the other day, I used to be on the Gallas out band wagon, but now – no way, since the armband has been removed he has been a rock, and he and Kolo have kept our defensive unit strong. He has to stay, and I really hope he does.

  97. rico01 says:

Raddy – have you heard from peaches, she has been around since Sunday and just wanted to know she is doing ok ??

  98. rico01 says:

    has = hasnt

    Morning Big Raddy

I am pleased to read something from you. The last thing I want to do is accidentally chase yet another person away for differing in opinion but, nevertheless, I am a bit confused by your comment: you say you were disgruntled by the abuse that was meted out to the team but I cannot see that it was any different to the concerns that you express: Diaby (is not a first team player) Silvestre (replace with a decent CB) RVP (his shooting was poor) Walcott (should have scored a hat trick). Ok I accept that my opening comment yesterday was a bit theatrical but that had more to do with the fact that I wrote it with an eye to it being a main post but apart from that I can’t see where we differ and I thought Avenell’s post was, if anything, more generous than your own and certainly more, in my opinion, than the team deserved but hay ho.

Yesterday seemed to me to be a tired, frustrated end of season set of comments compounded by the knowledge that Gallas, Arshavin, Eduardo and Rosicky: the experience that we have desperately been lacking were all unavailable.

    I hadn’t read your 9:34 when I posted.

  101. Big Raddy says:

London. My complaints about the savagery of the response to Sunday were not aimed at you, but the other blogs. What I read on other sites was offensive abuse of people I hold dear. Sure AW makes mistakes but he has done wonders for our club – he is not a c..t, and I cannot read such abuse without getting angry, So I prefer not to write, and get into a pointless spat with a 12 y.o.

And you are right, I do criticize some players. Such is the nature of a dilly-dallying hypocrite such as myself 🙂

  102. avenell says:

    Morning Raddy/London and Rico..

Fine posts there Raddy, I have to agree. Football wouldn’t be football if you can’t critisise the odd players or Arsenes team selections..
But the name calling to someone who has given the club 13 very good years by know all fans who think because they have a season ticket heve the right to abuse is amazing.
Would they say it to Arsene’s face? If the could they are not a Arsenal fan.

  103. London says:

    Big Raddy

I enjoy your comments, if I may be so presumptuous as to say that I feel we approach things from the same angle.

  104. rico01 says:

Morning Avenell – nice sleep in 😉

  105. London says:

    Morning Ave

  106. avenell says:

I see the transfer rumours have started, who is Pogrebnyak? and how are we going to get a song going for him with a name like that?

    Cheeeky Rico.. 😉

  107. rico01 says:

    London – Good Morning ! 😉

  108. rico01 says:

Ave, I fear the song will be something realted to the old tune

Nik Nak Paddy Wak….. At least it could rhyme 😛

  109. rico01 says:

Stan has bought some more shares guys….

  110. rico01 says:

Actually, i think thats old news, re-printed in the paper !!!!!!

  111. London says:

One Pogrebnyak there’s only one Pogrebnyak…one Pogrebnyak, there’s only one Pogrebnyak.

If he is a striker that scores goals I will find a way of singing his name. lol

  112. JonJon says:

    morning all…

ave ive heard of that progebemaohdjdibhjsl before….i just think the media are linkng us to more russians because of AA… weve also been linked to zhirkovalovalov and whodidyaknickabollockoff!!!!!

thats a fine comment about the abuse aimed at wenger…

il admit ive lost the faith with him a little and ive called him a wally at several key points of the season but i still love him….

  113. rico01 says:

    Morning JJ

  114. rico01 says:

Good job his first name is easier

    Pavel 🙂

  115. London says:

Emotional outbursts during and immediately after a game don’t count in my book but two days later people should be calm enough to make a rational decision. If you want him to go fair enough but if you want him to stay then in my opinion he should get our backing.

  116. JonJon says:

i just think wengers lost touch with the fans….he’s had everything his own way and he’s become obsessed with doing it his own way that hes forgotten about us

a perfect example of that was the FA cup semi….

weve waited patiently, weve supported wholeheartedly the project he pursured, and we get to the best chance of winning a trophy to reward us for our patience and he throws it and then admits the CL and PL are his main priorities…..

im sorry…call me a glory hunter if you will but those actions form wenger were just selfish and it showed a total lack of respect to the fans….

  117. avenell says:

I want him to stay, but I want him to change his policy a bit that’s all.. He is making it difficult for himself as well.
Yesterday on Sky he said the FA cup isn’t a trophy worth going for.. But the fans spend thousands watching and travelling to away games etc. disrespectful imo..
I don’t mind the critisism of him, it’s the name calling.

  118. rico01 says:

ave – going on from your last, if Arsene thinks tat about the FA Cup, I wish he would be more honest. I dont mean tell us fans everything, but reflect his views in the price for tickets, just as the club does in the LC –

I just want the old Arsene back…

  119. avenell says:

He needs to understand that a FA cup win would take a whole heap of pressure off him, “teaches” the players how to win.. and they may even enjoy winning a trophy..

  120. rico01 says:

Here is the name of our soon to be new CH then guys

    Denis Kolodin – 27yr old

You heard it from me first…. 😉

via an article in the Daily Mail of course 😛

  121. rico01 says:

Personally – I would love an FA Cup win 🙂

  122. rico01 says:

Pavel Pogrebnyak is a realistic target if AW is going to get rid of a striker or two, this guys contract runs out in November and no doubt Zenit will take a cut price. The only problem of course is if clubs like Man City/Chavs go after him with their bottomless pit of cash…

  123. JonJon says:

so we throw them a red hearing rico….we declare our interest in probenckajduebfje…and we tell the world we have little cash….then whilest mancity and chelsea are fighting over the signature we move in for huntelaar and snatch him off radar.. 😉

  124. London says:

Ave I have a post tomorrow if you need one it isn’t going to win the blog equvalent of an EMMI but if you need to change things it is here.

  125. London says:

I fear that Huntelaar without service would disappear further of the radar than Adebayor.

  126. rico01 says:

    JJ – what is a red hearing please ?? 😉 😉 😉

Is it like a sore ear 🙂

  127. rico01 says:

Huntelaar would be a fine buy, especially if we finally get that proper RW replacement for Hleb

  128. rico01 says:

    And Thomas back….. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 🙂

  129. rico01 says:

    I’m off for a while….

  130. London says:

My hope is that Wenger realises that his experiment with Diaby as a DM has failed; he should remember that he was expecting Diaby to take up that position before Flamini made it his own. Arsène this one got away, we need a powerful leader. Some might question me for saying this but my idea of a player who fits that criteria was Roy keene. Playing neutral fantasy league manager, I would have picked him over Vieira because of his ability to score more goals.

  131. avenell says:

    New Post.. press home!!!
