At This Point The Youth Policy Fails!!

Our season always seems to have one defining week, a week when we play in a quarter final, a semi final and a very important Premiership game within 8 days or less.

This is that week, the week that supporting a big club is all about. Spuds supporters don’t even know what this feels like, they can only take the piss when it all goes Alex Song..

And boy does it go wrong, why???   Is it luck??  Is it strength in depth?? Is it poor refereeing decisions??

Well Mr Wenger OBE I would like to blame in on the injuries, I would like to blame it on squad depth, but it’s getting a bit of a coincidence now isn’t it. Ever since 2004 when Wayne Bridge’s late goal sent us packing out of the Champions League we have struggled in the crucial games,…I love it when we get this far but scared.

It’s your youth system, the players that you use every week through the season freeze at the big games, then when we lose the first match the season collapses like a set of domino’s on one of Norris McWhirter’s world record attempts.

They can play in the ‘mundane’ Premier League week in week out because they are relaxed, but these games take them out of that comfort zone and they are pumped up..

This is where we miss the individuals who can step up their game and roll up their sleeves.

Some Arsenal supporters will not tolerate it again this year and there will be a big shout to buy experience in the summer and to be fair we have the nice shiny stadium now so they have a point..

When we reached the Champs League final in 2006 we done it with an injury crisis in a similar position when we had our two first choice left backs out at the same time, and we used a midfield player to fill that position at the later stages up until the final, this year it is the left centre back that is the problem position and the left back area too, we are now reliant on youth and the man who a lot of people criticised Arsene for buying.

We will win tonight, but we also need to win convincingly The main men now have to step up Fabregas, Sagna, Toure will lets hope RvP and Ade will too they want the big boys wages let’s see some big boy performances..

Diaby is fit for tonight, and Dudu.

…………….line up.

…Saga. Toure Silvestre Gibbs.

..Walcott Fabregas Denilson Nasri

The semi final place isn’t a done deal yet and we are not capable of playing  defensively so I’m going for 3-2…

  2. peachesgooner says:

    Hmmmmnnnnnn nice post ave…..;)

  3. rico01 says:

peaches – i have replied about the chickens 😉

  4. avenell says:

It reflects the butterflies that are building in my belly..

I get so dissapointed when our big week goes wrong..

  5. peachesgooner says:

    ….even my wink isn’t working 😉

You know that glass of red that sprayed my carpet last nite…….the salt hasn’t done the trick 😦 😦

  6. squallviii says:

“they can only take the piss when it all goes Alex Song..”

what does that means? btw, good post avenell 😉

  7. peachesgooner says:

    Gonna look now rico 🙂

  8. peachesgooner says:

Morning squallviii – Alex Song = wrong 🙂

  9. avenell says:

    Squavilliii.. Thanks.

    Alex Song =

Have a look in Raifs Terminology at the top under the header.. their is a few more in there..

Have you got a score prediction for tonight? We have a comp going… don’t we Rico 😉

  10. peachesgooner says:

I’m going for a very exciting 2-0 please

  11. avenell says:

And you Peaches.. your scores please.. thanks for loving me btw.. I need love today. 😦

    What colour was the axminster?

  12. rico01 says:

Ave – I think you have hit the nail on the head. Youth is all well and good when they win, but older and wiser heads know how to pull a rabbit out of a bag at the right time – and a loss hits inexperience badly sometimes. Its the lack of knowing when to say – what the heck, roll the socks up and start again..

How long did we stay upset if we didnt get what we wanted, like the cod roe instead of the lovely piece of battered haddock, I used to sulk for ages 😉

So we need a solid performance, the likes of Kolo, Robin, Silvestre, Sagna, Dudu to show the kids the way, the team to all be singing the same Song, and the night will be good. Get that and the confidence will stay for Saturday…..

  13. peachesgooner says:

……and no Gallas to go on an inspiring run – I bet hes gutted 😦

  14. rico01 says:

We do ave, i am in the process of writing to the highways dept, asking if they can close all roads into 22 miles from reading the day after the competition closes 😉

peaches – white wine is meant to do the trick …

Squavilliii – may i be so rude to ask if we can shorten your name, my typing and spelling is not as good as it used to be 😛

  15. peachesgooner says:

    ……but we have got Toure………

  16. squallviii says:

oh, thanks guys!well, there are lots of terms here…hmmm… 😕
about the prediction, 2-1 to the arsenal! 😉

  17. squallviii says:

well then, just call me squall or viii…LOL!

  18. peachesgooner says:

    …..and we’ve got Cesc Fabregas :)……..

  19. rico01 says:

Kolo will take over the 100 metre sprint into the box tonight peaches, only because i dont think Songs legs could take it if he is playing in defence 😉

  20. rico01 says:

Squall it is then, are you in the Uk or overseas? Just wondering if you are lucky enough to be going tonight ??

  21. peachesgooner says:

……ha ha ha its a long way to run out of defence isn’t it 😆 ……

  22. rico01 says:

its the getting back that worries me peaches ….. 😉

  23. avenell says:

    You are in squallviii..

  24. peachesgooner says:

rico – is it too late to put the white wine on it now, its been under a salt-bake all night and although the salt pulled a lot of it out its still marked. Always hated the carpet anyway so I’m tempted to rip it up – theres parquet underneath……needs a rug though…….

  25. rico01 says:

Rip it up peaches – wood and a rug, just the job, mme, i would say that – we have that 😉

    (not posh wood tho)

  26. squallviii says:

lol rico i’m in south east asia and sadly i will not be going to match 😦 and the game will start at 0240..not that it matters because i’m on holiday 😀

  27. peachesgooner says:

    Good plan rico 🙂

  28. rico01 says:

Last week I was so sure we were going to win in spain, this week i am really nervous yet we are at home… strange really…..

Maybe its because i know their can only be one winner tonight and no second chance for us to make ammends….

  29. rico01 says:

Lucky you being on holiday, and at least thats means you will be able to see it on television, dont forget the alarm clock 😉

How did you come accross Avenell Road, please tell me to mind my own if you want 😉

  30. rico01 says:

peaches – you said it was going to be summer today, we have had storms and rain….

Hope Villarreal players have a fear of thunder and lightening, and they didnt sleep all night….

  31. avenell says:

Wow.. squallviii, we have gone global.. 🙂

Do they show the Arsenal games over there for you okay?.

We struggle over here to get some of them..
    Don’t we Peaches? lol.

  32. London says:

    Interesting post Ave

I have been trying to work out if it is one you really believe or one that you wrote because a post had to be written. I suspect it was the latter but I have checked on Kelseys time table which confirms that it is this part of the day in which tough questions can be asked.

Why do we have to win convincingly for Wenger to justify his ethos towards team building and which of your team selection do you expect to freeze tonight there by confirming your condemnation of Wenger’s policy?

  33. avenell says:

London.. I nearly forgot you.. here is the link I hope it’s the right one..

  34. rico01 says:

A big win breeds confidence, a loss tonight or a bad display will spill over to Saturday.. Big win please, a convincing display to shut all those who doubt us up, and a confident display because AW has opend his choppers and had a pop at the doubters, but we havent won anything yet…..

No place for second place in this life 😛

  35. squallviii says:

well rico i don’t sleep until the game ends..alarm clock is not enough to wake me up lol! Well, surely Avenell Road didn’t appear through newsnow.. i found this blog on wrighty7’s….

avenell, they show much every arsenal games here but last saturday game against wigan…it’s very depressing really to find a good stream the watch the game.

  36. squallviii says:

  37. avenell says:

I suppose Freeze is the wrong word.. but we don’t have the players who can take the game by the horns like Henry or Vieira, we just tappy tappy the ball around.

I would like us to win convincingly so we can build up the momentum for the game against Chelsea.. then that performance can be the platform for the next game against Chelsea in the semi final of the CL too..

  38. peachesgooner says:

see avenell – they didn’t get the game in the far east on saturday – what hope for us 🙂

  39. rico01 says:

Chelsea in the semi final of the CL, i hope not ave, the final please 😛

  40. rico01 says:

thanks for that squall, good old Wrighty 😆

  41. avenell says:

True Peaches.. our excuse for not travelling the 250 miles to Wigan is a bit poor compared to squallviii’s 2500 or so lol..

  42. avenell says:

Whoops final.. 😳 go easy on me I am still unwell…

  43. peachesgooner says:

Against AC Milan last season we were playing them off the park but still needed to score to win the game – have we got a Hleb that will chase a ball and pick a pass to Fab – if Arshavin was playing I’d say yes we have but I’m not sure theres enough experience……

I hope we can keep hold of the ball and make them run around until we pass through them and score 🙂

  44. rico01 says:

RvP, Silvestre and Gibbs all to start 🙄

Van Persie’s fitness test will shape the side

Robin van Persie’s fitness test on Wednesday morning will determine the Arsenal side against Villarreal later that day.

The Dutchman featured for the final half-hour at Wigan on Saturday but is still troubled by the groin problem he picked up playing for Scotland against Holland at the end of March. The striker’s success or failure to come through will shape Arsène Wenger’s team and maybe his formation for the Champions League Quarter-Final second leg.

William Gallas (knee), Johan Djourou (knee), Gael Clichy (back) have picked up injuries in the last two games so Wenger admits that he has little option in his backline. Mikael Silvestre will start his first game since January 3 and Kieran Gibbs, 19, will make his first Champions League start. Lukasz Fabianski will continue in goal after Manuel Almunia collected an ankle injury in the first leg while Andrey Arshavin is ineligible. Abou Diaby is in the squad after his thigh injury but is not expected to start.

“You don’t need a manager to pick the defence,” said Wenger at Tuesday’s press conference. “Gibbs has no experience and Alex Song has not played a lot at centre back. But at least we can have someone close to Gibbs who has experience [in Silvestre].

“After that we will see because Robin will have to test tomorrow morning with his groin and on that decision will depend all the rest.

“Diaby is just coming back. It was his first day in training today. He will be fit certainly for Saturday but for tomorrow he will be a bit short.”

  45. rico01 says:

Or tire them out peaches 😉

  46. squallviii says:

avenell, i succeeded i finding a very good stream just before the hour mark..a minute after that THEOOOO!! 😆

    a neat widget there 😉

  47. peachesgooner says:

ave – freeze is exactly the right word – experienced players can dig deep whereas inexperienced players lack confidence. I still say its a real shame Gallas won’t be on the pitch 😦

  48. John says:

Afternoon ladies and gentleman, it’s crunch time today…
I’m pretty rubbish at this score prediction lark aren’t I, I’ll go 2-0 Arsenal.

  49. avenell says:

You wait until you see the prize for the highest no of predictions.

Rico will tell you, I have put her in charge of the whole winning experience.. 😉

  50. avenell says:

Morning John.. I will stick you in..
Are you joining us this evening?

  51. squallviii says:

    smells like teen spirit 😉
but really though should buy a few more experienced class players strengthen our position in the league..

  52. peachesgooner says:

Anyway I don’t want to be negative cos I’m certain everyone who pulls on that shirt tonight will want to be playing in the semi-final and theres only one way to do that……….

    Come on you reddddddddddddddddddddddddddds 😆

  53. rico01 says:

Hi John – 2-0, that would just the job 😛

ave – what are you going to do if the comp’s a draw 🙄

peaches – you are right, if they can’t get themselves in the right mind for tonight, they are in the wrong career, and definately at the wrong club..

I wish gallas was playing, he is a huge gap to fill 😦

  54. Rasputin says:

An emotional and typically pre-match-angst filled post avenell 😉 ….it sums up my feelings perfectly.

It seems that Senna thinks we have the makings of a superb side and he is not the only of our vanquished opponents to heap praise on our young team. You’re right – if the going gets tough tonight, someone is going to have to step up and take command and for me, that has to be new rough, tough, saliva missile lauching, hoodie wearing Cesc 😛

  55. squallviii says:

how about eduardo? Is he fit to play for tonight’s game?

  56. avenell says:

You will have to come down here and stay Rico and let your bedroom out to the other winner.. 🙂

Rasp.. Thanks. I just hate that empty feeling when one week we are in everything and nothing the next..

What’s going on with the spit thing? .. There was talk in the papers yesterday that the FA are going to chuck it out..

  57. peachesgooner says:

    Well done rasp 😆

  58. rico01 says:

can i bring the chickens, pigs and hamster ??

  59. peachesgooner says:

Its a discrace that it even went to the FA to look into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooooh I’m wooried that I feel so feisty today – someones gonna get it aaarrrrgggghhh

  60. rico01 says:

Rasp, are you saying that our little Cesc is now just a bit of ‘rough’ 😦

  61. avenell says:

Talking of hamsters.. mills school has a pet hamster, that the kids share and bring home at weekends..

Nita’s mate had it over the holiday, but it died yesterday.. She phoned up panicing what was she going to

She has a whole week to worry about it.. 😦

    Chickens and all welcome.. 🙂

  62. London says:

A big win is always better but If that doesn’t happen and we just scrape through how will that confirm that Wenger’s team building policy has failed?

Second point although this is more a general one

Excluding Adebayor, who most people simply do not like, which of these players do you expect to drop to the bench next season to make way for the all important new experienced signings that people are crying out for. And lets be clear, if a so called experienced player arrived you will be asking one of the players above to sit on the bench for possibly the whole season. People state the importance of Arshavin but he has simply replaced Rosicky, so which do you reckon is not good enough? How does any of the team above confirm that Wengers youth policy has failed? As it is impossible to buy players now we must be talking about next season. Replacements do not count, If a player leaves a replacement will obviously be needed.

    There was a post here!

Anyone can join in this one if they want.

  63. Rasputin says:

No rico, Cesc’s cojones have grown along with his stubble 😉 He’s said for a season or two that he needs to improve his defensive qualities – I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit of the Mascherano in him as well as the creative genius.

  64. Rasputin says:

I’m really busy at the moment London – but I would like to offer a quick response to your post addressed to rico….

Teams don’t win in the modern era – squads do….. I have never heard a fan complain that there is too much depth in the squad.

  65. Rasputin says:

Additional to my previous point – the outcome of these late season ‘crunch weeks’ as ave has described, has been decided to a great extent by the quality, experience and fitness of the squad players called upon when ‘first team’ players are injured. Arguably, the outcome of the next 3 games will rely to a great extent on how the replacements for Almunia, Gallas and Cliche perform.

  66. London says:

I realise that you are busy but the point of today’s post is that Wenger’s team building policy has failed. There are many that are calling for more experience I ask you who is not good enough?

I accept that no fan would complain about having to much depth but you know that is not practical to have players commanding huge wages just to sit on the bench and make up the numbers.

I was expecting the cry of “Show Me The Silver Ware”

  67. London says:

True, but that is a different point to saying that the team building policy has failed.

  68. avenell says:

Adding to that.. The post was a question as to why in the last 4 seasons we have reached this point and came away with virtually nothing.. A FA cup that we was a tad lucky to win..

We have discussed why Arsene has had to use a youth policy, because of the stadium but so far it has only reached this point and failed..
We cannot keep blaming poor refereeing decisions can we?

  69. John says:

Ave, I might be on tonight, not sure yet.
If the game is on french tv I will watch in the lounge, otherwise I’ll be streaming it and will be here!

  70. rico01 says:

    London –

The team you list is absolutely fine – but life isnt all that simple, what I would ask is that you look beyond that eleven players, and that is where we are very very weak

Denilson – ok as cesc understudy
    Diaby – always crocked
Eboue – do i need to say
    Song – HM’s understudy
Ramsey – Another Csec like player and too young
    Jack – too young
    Coq – too young
Merida – I have big hope for him
Bischoff – Crocked and unproven ?
Nik – He is not for me personally
Barazite – un tested, but struggling at Derby
Simpson, I like but unproven at EPL standard

We need top players to replace our first team – we have so many games, players need to be rested – and I really would prefer a bigger squad which include a higher standard of player rather than the likes of Eboue – the young players need at least another season to be ready…

  71. avenell says:

I have to do that John the computer and the TV are in different rooms so I have to keep running back and forth..

  72. London says:

It is very difficult to say in any depth what you really mean in these comment boxes, so how about writing a more in depth main post. Just a thought.

  73. Rasputin says:

    Hi London,

I’ve just quickly re-read ave’s post again, and I don’t actually think he has said that the youth policy has failed – it was more like a rhetorical question to himself. What he is pointing out is that there seems to be a pattern emerging and asking what the underlying cause of that trend might be?

  74. rico01 says:

Also London, look what is happening today – Gallas is injured, so his replace is Djourou, he is injured and we are concerned – very concerned… we have a choice, rejuggle all the defence, or use Gibbs who has never played CL football, or we put Silvestre, an aging Manure reject who couldnt cope with Wigan at the weekend, let alone a strong Villarreal side 😦

  75. rico01 says:

Thats how i read it too Rasp – this week could be awesome, but history suggests it could also go so horribly wrong – it wont of course 😛

But experience of big occassions is what often wins games

  76. rico01 says:

Ave, mine sits on my lap 😉

    Not the tv 🙄

  77. peachesgooner says:

rico – top comment, I was writing all that when the phone rang 🙂

London – the youth experiment has failed largely because there wasn’t the depth of experience in the squad when Arsene was having to rely on inexperienced players to hold the fort.

Your first eleven is fine until someone is injured.

  78. peachesgooner says:

……even if we go on to lift the Champions League Trophy and the FA cup, if we don’t finish in the top four this season will have been a failure for this young team as they weren’t able to challenge for the League Title.

Of course I would love them to win both – and it would be an exciting end to a season that has been very upsetting at times.

  79. Rasputin says:

Manure have always ben hailed as having a fantastic youth system, but that hasn’t stopped them buying players like Vidic, Carrick, Berbatov, Evra, Anderson etc etc

  80. rico01 says:

Thanks peaches – and you are right, finishing outside the top four would be catastrophic – no top players will want to play for a club who is not in the CL – not real footballers anyway, yes some may look at Robinho at Man City, that is all about money, and I think he will leave in the summer as it is clear he is unhappy. And RM had no choice but to sell him and City were the only team that would pay such an amount.

  81. rico01 says:

Wouldnt you just love a Vidic, Evra and Tevez 😛

  82. avenell says:

That is another good point Peaches.. could defeats in these 2 competitions destabilise our fourth place.
We have some difficult games ahead and once Villa spot a weakness they will be trying all the harder..

  83. Rasputin says:

Not for their looks rico 🙂 – but definitely for their footie

  84. rico01 says:

Spot-on there Rasp – Evra is not so bad 😉

Ave – peaches is right, look what happened after we lost in the cup last year, and ‘that’ 49th game, and that was players with experience

  85. rico01 says:

Good to see Cesc has said AW is not the most important reason for him to stay at Arsenal – thats if it is to be believed 😉

  86. London says:

Woooo, just got back from lunch, out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Rico, the player that you chose to focus on is Eboue who demonstrates perfectly what is right and what is wrong with the current squad. To say he is not strength in depth is wrong he is one of the best right backs in the EPL, he is surely the quality of player you would want to cover if Sagna was injured, so surely to crisitise him contradicts your call for greater depth to the squad. The problem as I see it is that it would be impossible for him to sit on the bench all season long and so he has to play some games to keep his fitness etc, which is also as we know where it all goes wrong because he is often played out of position.

How was Wenger supposed to see that Gallas and Djourou were going to get injured in the space of a week? I think Wenger did well to have someone of Sylvestre’s experience waiting in the wings.

  87. peachesgooner says:

Eboue can play in the cup games simples 🙂

  88. rico01 says:

London – Eboue could be, but he cheats, dives, and is often embarrassing to watch – and I would prefer a different understudy to Sagna..

We have depth in our squad, yes, but they are either not up to the standard our club should have, or they are still two seasons away from playing London.

We have depth, but we seriously lack the big one, and that is strength

  89. rico01 says:

    Silvestre or Hangeland ??

There is experience, but there is also Help the Aged 😉

  90. avenell says:

If Eboue is the back up right back.. why did Wenger choose Toure over him there last season. He chose to change 3 of the defence rather that just do the simple like for like change .. Sagna out Eboue in.

  91. rico01 says:

Good point Ave, and that near on destroyed Kolo…

I think Arsene see’s him as Theo’s understudy, that was of course until Arshavin came in (phew)

Now we have three players who can play left/right, Theo, Nasri and Arshavin – and when/if Thomas gets fit again, we will be ok. Mind you, I would still play Theo where he truly should be, and thats up front…

  92. rico01 says:

I forgot earlier, that was a sad little tale about the hamster 😦 They dont live for long though, about two years I think, and our little man is two and a bit 😦

  93. rico01 says:

I am off for a while as all quiet, catch you all a bit later – i am getting very very nervous 😦

  94. London says:

You have come up with some great debating points today, I have to go out but I will be back.

I believe our whole policy rests on a debate such as

    Sylvestre or Hangerland

  95. London says:

Actually debates like that can wait, can’t they? We have more pressing matters to deal with.

  96. avenell says:

What time are you heading up to the game?

  97. avenell says:

London.. I’ll cover the match report… just so you know that you can go without your notepad.. 😉
    and just enjoy.. 🙂

  98. London says:

I was just about to go out the door, when I said to myself, just have a quick look. I will put my note pad back on the shelf and my pencil in its holder. And now I am going to the pub to drink cold, yummy beer 😉

  99. peachesgooner says:

hello, I’m just getting some food ready and then I’m off too. Been really busy so havn’t had time to get nervous but I expect the train journey will be long enough 🙂

Catch up later, enjoy the game eeeeeeek xx

  100. peachesgooner says:

ave – you’d better text me if you want me to do anything for you tnite xx

  101. peachesgooner says:

A lttle bird just told me no Sagna – see Eboue has his uses, as long as he remembers hes a right back and doesn’t go drifting 😉

  102. rico01 says:

peaches – emjoy the games, hope its a good win 😛

  103. JonJon says:

    come on….

  104. rico01 says:

    Yo JJ – 3-0, love it 😛

  105. avenell says:

Right I am back again.. hello hello I’m back again.. lol..

  106. kelsey says:

    RVP and Ade up front.

Got my legs and fingers crossed even got the bible around in case of emergencies.

Golden rule tonight, get an early goal please.

  107. kelsey says:

    eboue in for sagna 😦

  108. rico01 says:

    Is that real, no Bacary…… ????? 😦 😦

  109. rico01 says:

  110. avenell says:

    What’s up with Sagna.??

    Hi Kelsey.. sorry. Popped out..

  111. rico01 says:

Ave, you on the right track 😉

  112. kelsey says:

    sagna got a virus,probably a groin strain 🙂

  113. John says:

    Evening all,
    Denilson is on the bench?!

  114. kelsey says:

Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be

is the title of a forthcoming post soon to be released on AR 🙂

  115. avenell says:

Just turned the telly on.. now I am nervous..

  116. avenell says:

Evening John.. not on French TV then? 😦

  117. John says:

Nope its not on, last nights game was on in HD 😦
I got an alright stream at though.

  118. John says:

*well it is on french tv, but not on the free channels

  119. rico01 says:

ave – you missed my ealier comment… re hello hello 😉

  120. John says:

    Great pass, great finish!
    eeeeeeeeee 😀

  121. kelsey says:

If we don’t win this game, which we should win, i blame one player only that is adebayor,he is completely and utterly useless. This may transmit to him and he scores.

  122. avenell says:

The Referee is a bit of a worry.. He is going to make a clanger in VR’s favour .. we need another goal..

  123. John says:

That’s what usually happens when we slag him isn’t it kelsey!
I can just see a bleary eyed wenger going over the offside rule with him one more time during the break.

  124. avenell says:

Whoops sorry Rico Helloooo.. I did e mail you though to make up for it..

  125. squallviii says:

eboue is right at home when he plays as RB… a really good back-up for sagna. Take note wenger 😉

  126. rico01 says:

kelsey – i agree, ade is shit, he should come off and let dudu come on – and that ball crossed the line, we should be 2-0 up, everyone seems very good, apart from ade, but you know what, he will do something and score and everyone will think he is wonderful!

  127. avenell says:

If he takes Ade off Bendtner will come on.. your call Rico.. 😉

  128. John says:

I thought it was over the line first time round but it didn’t look in from the replay?

As for Ade, lets hope he treats us to one of those minutes of brilliance alongside his usual 89 minutes of mediocrity.

  129. rico01 says:

    NO AVE – DUDU 🙂

  130. rico01 says:

John, I thought it was well over 😉

  131. rico01 says:

Now what did i say ???????????

  132. rico01 says:

i like this game now 😉

    off off off off

  133. rico01 says:

    Rocky Robin 😛

  134. rico01 says:

  135. rico01 says:

Come on you Gooners – lets get

    SIX 😛

  136. John says:

  137. rico01 says:

I have to go, sleep tight and all that stuff, great game, great result and I would give them all 10 in the ratings, bar Ade who would get a 9 because he is always offside, misses cahnces and, he cannot dance 🙂

Song, Eboue and Theo were good 🙂

    catch you soon…

peaches will be as high as a kite when she gets on here later – and i dont blame her 😉

    Nighty Nite all 😛

  138. squallviii says:

    oh yeah!!!!!!!!

  139. avenell says:

    😎 …

C’mon Peaches ,, London… Tell me all about it PLEASE!!!

  140. JonJon says:

yup… got my three nil… we were excellent tonight…but ade was shite again apart from the goal and i wish cesc would stop looking to pass straight to him… that was really pissing me off…

  141. London says:

Suuuupa suuuuupa rob suuuupa suuuuupa rob suuuuups rob supa rober pires

  142. avenell says:

Do you remember that ad for golf diesels where there was diesel wrote everywhere in fridge magnets etc.. so the ownwer knew what fuel to use..

We need to get Ade a tattoo, flags around the ground and the scoreboard to keep explaining the offside rule to him in case he forgets..

  143. London says:

you’ll always be a gooner, you’ll always be a gooner

  144. London says:

That pesky off side rule he just can’t get it

  145. JonJon says:

jamie redknapps a cock…. adebayor needed that break???? oh please.. he looks sharp????? oh please….. he was a joke tonight…

cesc was brilliant and his best position is the alonso role…..

walcott had a good game and would of had a few assists if ade would of been sharp and gambled a few times in the box like good strikers do…

    RvP was excellent too….

  146. avenell says:

kin ‘ell London you got your own underground line straight back to your

  147. London says:

Tonight was magnificent, I am so proud of the team and the club that I adore, does that sound like a Oscar winner speach?

  148. avenell says:

Did you see the Arsene shuffle?..

New dance craze.. “let all do the Arsene”.. “let’s all do the Arsene” la la la ..

  149. London says:

I have a story about that. I go by bike! By the time it takes to get from my seat in the ground to sitting on my sofa by bike it takes the same amount of time to get from my seat to the platform at Arsenal. We pissed over them tonight

And now for a more general comment. Mascherno purleease? Song was absolutely brilliant and I am on my best behaviour tonight, come on you know you want to say it, after me, Song was excellent. There now that wasn’t so bad was it, We will work on Adebayor after Saturday, baby steps, come on laugh it’s funny.

  150. London says:

Ave that was funny the Wenger boogy

  151. squallviii says:

jonjon, gullit praised arsenal too much there making souness feel comfortable 😉 oh and gullit will be downsized because of that comment!

avenell, watched the shuffle three times…never get bored of it! 😆

  152. avenell says:

Do you use the Emirates Bike park??

  153. squallviii says:

  154. avenell says:

That was addressed to London BTW..

  155. London says:

    Hi Jonjon

They were all good tonight it was great there, a very special night, I am going to have to arrange a game when you and Ave can get to the ground,we all sit together, stay at my place for the night, may be a beer or two lol or three. I will work on it.

  156. London says:

Is there an Emirates bike park? I didn’t know that. I use a lamp post

  157. avenell says:

    From Arsenal .com..

    Cycle Parking
Arsenal have a cycle parking facility, it is next to the All Arsenal Shop on Drayton Park. It holds up to 150 bicycles. Please speak to the security guard at Highbury House reception who will be able to assist you with this.

  158. London says:

I dont think Squallvii uses the Emirates bike park, by the way are you in India or Pakistan, I know someone with a box who lives in Lahore, he only flys over for the games, I mean how decadent is that?

  159. avenell says:

Oh and a quick e mail London.. 😉

  160. JonJon says:

  163. avenell says:

  164. squallviii says:

  165. JonJon says:

can i just add that kolo has been awesome recently… i dont know whats happened but whatever it is its sorted because we are seeing the kolo of old…

and how commanding was fabianski???? its great when your keeper knows who to play sweeper and loves coming for them high balls…. 😉

  166. squallviii says:

european football is brodcasted here but they never broadcast local football here (except channels sponsored by the government ) 😆

  167. JonJon says:

where you from SV????? africa or asia????

  168. London says:

you all ready that I am completely bias towards Song but Eboue tonight was absolutely brilliant a master class of right back we haven’t seen him play there for ages but boy was he good.

Gibbs, well done young man, grew in stature as the game went on to the point where you just didn’t know or care that Clichy was missing.

Fantastic game, loved it and the four pints before

  169. squallviii says:

    where is malaysia jonjon?? 😉

  170. London says:

    Malaysia Jonjon keep up 😉

  171. squallviii says:

    viii = 8 😆

  172. London says:

you sound more pissed thatn me Jonjon you are slurring your question marks. That is my all time favourite sentence, I know I am patting myself on the back but slurring you question marks, how good it that, more beer

  173. JonJon says:

    london… totally agree fella…

song was immence and EE is a good RB…

hats off to gibbs…. out of all the players out there he was on paper our weak link but he did the job… im soo proud tonight….

SV… so your local then????? 😉

  174. avenell says:

    Oh that Malaysia.. 😉 lol

It’s easy to mix them up..

  175. squallviii says:

  176. JonJon says:

    london im merry…. 😉

    how good were we tonight….

and for all those calling for theo to be a striker you should be in football management… 😉

  177. London says:

yep the player ratings are going to be a love in, more 8s and 9s than Victoria crosses in the second world war

  178. avenell says:

Sorry London .. how rude of me.. that was a very kind offer earlier…
Your stairs are dangerous though.. 😉

  179. JonJon says:

    malafricasia…. 😆

  180. avenell says:

That’s the one Jonjon in Oxfordshire.. 🙂

  181. squallviii says:

    yeah jonjon 😉

what avenell? You mixed up with malawi??

  182. JonJon says:

see what a win does to the fans…??? the boys must be on cloud nine…. excitements dangerous in young players…. it makes them dangerous… no fear….

bring chelsea and manure on you set of title buying debt collecting referee bribing klinker sniffers…

  183. JonJon says:

must admit though.. ronaldos goal was a worthy match winner….

gel wearing, leg waxing eyebrow plucking sunbed worshiping mirror loving diving winking cheating winker.. 😉

  184. London says:

I’m not really drunk just very happy. It was good fun tonight a very good night to be a gooner. I shall say good night, speak tomorrow.

And by the way I am serious about going to the game together. I will put non slip rubber on the stairs.

  185. avenell says:

    lol.. night London..

  186. JonJon says:

with that little out burst i shall also wish you all a good night….

look forward to the player ratings but ade gets no more than a 5 or i’ll be arguing all day.. 😉

  187. avenell says:

    What’s new there then.. 😉

    Laters JJ..

  188. peachesgooner says:

Hi all, had to fight my children to get my lap-top back!!!!!!!! Just watching the game again and cooing as Theo scores – what a finish 🙂

Another thoroughly enjoyable game of football, I hope you all enjoyed it too.

  189. avenell says:

    Nite peaches..x I’m up for a while or so .. 😉

  190. rico01 says:

Morning All – Am I still dreaming 😛

  191. kelsey says:

Morning co-presenter.brief summary as i have to go out.
    Theo man of the match.
The fat lump got my message, and at least scored the vital goal.
Good overall performance specially fabianski,Gibbs and Song and Eboue grew in stature.
    Now Man U a possible 4 times.
Oh for only AA in the team
Don’t read any other reports on here, they were all half cut. 🙂

  192. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters and Roosters,

I thought Song was imperious last night and the first half Theo/Eboue partnership produced some of the best right flank attacking play I’ve seen all season!

  193. chaf says:

    Good ‘Good’ morning everyone.

What a brilliant game. Fantastic all round performance, apart from Snoop Dog Ade who still refuses to take his ipod off to concentrate. He needs a podcast about the offside law. Or put an Alex Song on there.

Lets all do the Wenger shuffle.

  194. London says:

    Morning All

    I agree 😉

  195. JonJon says:

we stick with the same team for chelsea….

apart from AA in for nasri and dudu in for ade….

    we’ll smash em…

  196. JonJon says:

the song/cesc partnership was dynamite….thats the midfield from now on…

  197. avenell says:

    New Post…. 😉
