Out-passed, out-classed, Arsenal were out-Arsenaled!!!!

We all knew Villareal are no pushovers, they proved that in 2006 when we had a fight to get past them and they’ve proved that this year or they wouldn’t be playing us in the Champions League quarter-finals would they??? Yet most of us knew with the right team selection and the right formation we had a chance last night of putting the tie to bed before the home leg….

We were going into the game brimming with confidence after a good run of results and a convincing win over Citeh and Villareal were still reeling after getting hammered at the weekend and losing one of their star players, who makes them tick, to a broken leg…

Judging by the first half  we didn’t seem like the confidence team, we were appalling and they were fluent, direct and had us by the balls and the thing about it was, if we are all honest that team and that formation was the one we all would of picked ourselves….

Villareal showed us a sign of things to come when they won the ball inside the 1st minute, passed through our midfield like it wasn’t there and Almunia spent the 1st two minutes sweeping up at right back…..until he picked up an injury in a collision with Rossi….It was a bad start and it was only the beginning…..

Villareal’s passing and movement was causing us problems, they were all over us for the 1st quarter of an hour and they deserved the goal, that goal was coming…and what a goal… We had a lineup that had two DM’s and they were still tearing us a new arsehole….We didn’t close down, we didn’t get stuck in and Senna was given all the room in the world to pick a shot from 30yards out and when your a player of Sennas ability your going to hit the target…and with Almunia carrying a knock, the chances of it going in the net was increased and going in the net it did….Almunia was well beaten and the DM duo of Denilson and Song were nowhere to be seen….

Our midfield triangle of Song, Denilson and Cesc had no shape with the ball and no shape without it and Senna was dominating and Villareal were outplaying us with ease…..

Things went from bad to worse when Gallas was injured shortly before half time and the half time whistle couldn’t come soon enough….

The second half started much of the same…and it carried on until the hour mark when we started to settle down and find our feet…Song and Denilson started to win tackles and throw themselves about a bit and Theo was causing problems down the right, we needed to take advantage and that’s just what we did…. Cesc found a bit of room, floated a pin point ball to Ade (who was in the box for once) who took it calmly on his chest and overhead kicked it into the net… GET IN…a world class goal and it eased the nerves…..

Villareal still looked dangerous but we weren’t as disorganised as the 1st half so we held on, we could of won it….which would of been a crime, but hey, that’s football….

Almunia…6…brave and swept up well until he had to go off….no chance with the goal…

Sagna….5….never got forward and was pinned back most of the game….

Clichy…4…looks a bag of nerves, seems to have gone backwards from last year and as much as I love him I want him dropped, just as I did with Kolo until he finds form…unless Wenger doesn’t trust Gibbs..I know on current form I do…

Gallas…7…held the defence well in the 1st half siege..unlucky to be injured..

Kolo..8..he was fantastic…helped Gallas marshal the defence and took over with ease in the second half…Gallas wasn’t missed.

Theo…7…good game, created problems with his pace and was our best attacking player in the whole game..gave the Vllareal LB problems all night…

Nasri..4..doesn’t travel does he???

Denilson…4….didn’t close down, missed tackles, lost possession, put us under pressure most of the game

Song…4… see Denilson..

Cesc..5…woeful captains performance…wasn’t in the game and made the same mistakes as Denilsong..the extra mark is for the assist…

Ade…5…again woeful…played most of the game out on the wing and was constantly offside…never went for the 50-50’s and the ball just kept coming back every time it went up to him…if it wasn’t for that finish he’d of got a 3….

Subs

Fabianski…7…wonderful double save and collected the high balls with ease…it was a difficult night and one would of forgiven him if he had made a mistake under the circumstances but this lad is going to be a star…

JD….6…did well when he came on…played deputy to Kolo and made a thunderous Keown type tackle which I applauded….

Eboue…5…no point..

Overall, it was a performance I won’t take, but the result I will, a bit like in Rome…and the added bonus is that Manure have it all to do in Porto so there’s a strong possibility that it will be us and Porto in the semis….I’ll take that, we just need to sort it out in the home leg which I’m sure we will…Maybe the Gods are with us this year???

It just goes to show how much of an impact Arshavin has made since he joined, without him we don’t look the same side…In the league we have been good, going unbeaten and since he arrived we have turned those draws into wins, on the other hand our European game has gone to pot and its no coincidence he cant play in Europe…..

Somehow we have found ourselves in pole position for the 2nd leg,it’s ours to lose and after the 1st 45mins last night I didn’t think I’d be saying that this morning…..

Morning JonJon – Talk about in a nut shell, well done you..

I thought Fab and Kolo were immense, as was JD when he arrived with a bang. Ane they couldnt cope with Theo – its just a shame we dont have a CF in the box when he looks up to cross, he sees an empty penalty area and then doesnt know what to do. Eduardo should be back for next wednesday, and he should be the first name on the team sheet!

  2. rico01 says:

Fabianski that is, not Cesc !

  3. JonJon says:

fabianskis knocking on the door rico….im hoping almunias injured for a bit so fab can start….

hopefully dudu will be back….ades too stupid to be a lone striker…

  4. rico01 says:

I really dont think we have a player that can play up front on his own, maybe Dudu, but thats it. The only time it seems to work is when Diaby plays in a five man midfield and has that free role –

If Almunia is out, Fab has his chance, and we will see just how good he is – I hope he takes his chance, but I think Almunia has got better since Christmas..

Will you be cheering Chelsea on tonight and Barca JJ ?

    Or Chelsea and Munich ??

  5. JonJon says:

    chelsea and barca

    any news on gallas???

  6. rico01 says:

Not yet JJ, we should know more later once he has been scanned – he will be a massive loss if he out for the rest of the season, lets hope its a ‘Theo knee’ 😉

  7. JonJon says:

i wouldnt mind rico but it was because of denilson and song gallas got injured… denilson missed the tackle and song tripped him up right into gallas knee.. bad luck or what???

  8. rico01 says:

Dreadful bad luck JJ, but lets just hope its not as bad as thought last night – I hope its just a little tweak – if it was really serious, he wouldnt have tried to come back on would he ?

  9. avenell says:

    Morning again..
I was in the editing room.. nice post jonjon..
We was in a state of shock when Villareal came out the blocks like a train last night..
Like I said on Sunday we only played Man City the team that has won 1 away game all season and some were going overboard with that performance.. Last night was no worse than Saturday just that Villareal are on another level..

  10. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters and Roosters,

I was so depressed after the first half, I sat in front of my PC with the game on in the next room for the second half. I wrote that AW’s half time team talk hadn’t done anything to improve matters, but we got better as the second half went on – whether that was because they were tiring or we were just better I’m not sure. We only have to keep a clean sheet at home and we’re in the semi’s 😉 I sincerely hope we don’t start the game with that attitude. It’s a shame that going 1 nil up wouldn’t improve our situation – still I’d rather be us than manure…

  11. Rasputin says:

Sorry JonJon – I forgot to compliment you on your excellent post…Cesc wasn’t at his best but he did provide the pass for the goal so I’d have scored him 1 point higher

  12. kelsey says:

    Excellent JonJon,
we are obviously on the same wavelength as to the performance.Looks like Gallas is out for 5/6 weeks.

  13. Rasputin says:

Back in time for the CL final then Kelsey 🙂

  14. rico01 says:

Morning ave & Rasp, Roosters 😛

  15. rico01 says:

Ave – Villarreal are as bad a City on the road, so we have to hope they go the same way.

  16. Rasputin says:

Morning rico, I don’t like to brag, but you do know that I’m the ‘10,000 man’ now don’t you 😉

  17. avenell says:

    Morning Rico..

    Kelsey..
Is that 5 to 6 weeks AIT?… (Arsenal Injury Time).

If Gallas has the same as Cesc had that’s 14 weeks.. 😦

  18. rico01 says:

Yes Rasp, I did read that, and I thought your speech was wonderful 😉

  19. avenell says:

Raddy was the 5,000 man, he should have handed over the Green Jacket Augusta stylie.. 🙂

  20. rico01 says:

    Ave – its a Theo/Rico injury 😉

FA are looking into the missiles throw at Cesc, i say if they find them guilty, throw them out of the CL 😛

  21. Rasputin says:

Raddy’s only half the man I am 😛

  22. avenell says:

I’m not sure on that one Rico.. I watched his leg twist under him with his and the Villareal players weight on it..
I’m not sure if Colin Lewin should have picked the severity of the injury up..

  23. rico01 says:

Rasp, you wouldnt say that if he wasn’t in Italy ;P

  24. rico01 says:

    woops 😛

  25. Rasputin says:

That’s never gonna happen rico – I still feel UEFA and FIFA are biased against English football. We should be hosting the World Cup with all the fantastic stadiums we have in this country……

  26. rico01 says:

I only think that Ave as Gallas insisted he came back on, if his injury was so painful (like cesc) he would have just left the game – i reckon he has twisted it, a bit of ice and pysio and he will be back for next wednesday 😉

  27. avenell says:

Do you know whereabouts in Italy Raddy goes Rico?
Those earthquakes are a bit naughty, but they are in the centre above Rome I beleive..

  28. Rasputin says:

I was speaking purely numerically you understand rico 😆

  29. rico01 says:

Rasp, pure wishful thinking on my part I know 😉

But the guy who threw the missile at Mike Dean/Riley, cant remember has been charged i think, same should happen over there, but hey, we know it wont..

  30. rico01 says:

I dont ave, but i dont think its near Rome, I certainly hope not – peaches will possibly know.. What has gone on in Rome is tragic, did you hear about the 93yr old lady who was trapped for 30 odd hours, she said she kept herself busy by crocheting, bless her

  31. Rasputin says:

True rico, I’d often like to throw the referee at a coin (down a well) – can you get done for that too?

  32. rico01 says:

I think so Rasp, for being ‘Dunk’ and Disorderly 😉

  33. Rasputin says:

    Boom boom 🙂

  34. London says:

    Morning all

Good post Jonjon, you captured the anxiety perfectly.

Rico, I like the comment of let’s hope it is a Theo knee injury, which I still think that there is a possibility after all they sent him back on, albeit for a short while, anyway that would be the best news of the day, “Gallas’ injury not as bad as first feared”

  35. rico01 says:

    Morning London 😛

  36. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Trust Ade to score a goal like that when he’d been such rubbish – do you think it was the site of Nikki warming up that reminded him that in order to score goals he needs to be somewhere near the box!!!!!!

  37. peachesgooner says:

JonJon – good post, really captured my feelings too, well done to you 🙂

  38. JonJon says:

    thanks guys, morning all…

it makes me laugh that ade has admitted he knew nothing about the goal….i think ave mentioned that last night….

it also makes me laugh how eboue will trip and do a double somersault over a blade of grass and hold his finger for half hr to get a free kick yet yesterday he could of gone down after being clipped in the box and he kept going???? i wont ever understand that man….

  39. peachesgooner says:

Good point JJ, even the commentators mentioned how Eboue rode that tackle!!!!

  40. JonJon says:

fifa may look into the coin throwing incident last night and the one good thing about that is that it might put cesc off playing in spain…. 😉

  41. avenell says:

That’s what I thought Jj, but then again it may make him want to play for Barca more to prove a point..
The racism didn’t stop Henry playing over there..

  42. rico01 says:

Morning peaches – Like you, Ade gets on my nerves, he is never in the right place, i feel for theo really, he wizzes off down the wing, looks up and there is no-one for him to cross to, thats when it all goes horribly wrong and theo looses the ball Gggrrrrrr

  43. peachesgooner says:

how bizarre that they should do that to cesc in spain – football supporters can be right scum sometimes can’t they…….

  44. avenell says:

And they shouldn’t have coins they were all unemployed..

  45. rico01 says:

mme – that kind of reads wrong peaches, i have madfe that look as if you get on my nerves 😳

What I mean is that Ade gets on my nerves, as he does yours…. I am sooooo sorry 😦

  46. peachesgooner says:

Hi rico – see you’ve been travelling this morning 🙂

  47. avenell says:

It’s a year ago now that Theo last done something useful for Arsenal..

  48. kelsey says:

in case you missed it last night,in the third minute when Almunia fumbled the ball and clichy kicked it off the line, the ITV comentator called Almunia LEHMANN.

i have set myself a conundrum, have we really get luck on our side, with a team which isn’t really in top gear or are endless injuries going to ruin it all.

  49. rico01 says:

peaches, there was no-one here to talk to 😦

  50. avenell says:

Apart from modelling the new Arsenal shirt..

  51. rico01 says:

kelsey, I heard that, not quite sure how the two could be muddled, unless the gaff by Almunia reminded the commentator of Lehmann 😉

  52. rico01 says:

Ave – he is still a pup, he will come good 😉

  53. avenell says:

He hasn’t improved since that Liverpool game.. when will he come good?

  54. avenell says:

and he wants £60,000 a week. He’s having a laugh. I bet Arshavin isn’t on much more than that..

  55. rico01 says:

against wigan – you sound very grumpy today !! 😉

  56. peachesgooner says:

Ave – Theo brings so much to the team, his pace is going to terrify other teams and his trickery will always draw players to him – I feel that the rest of the team don’t react quickly enough to the space that is created when theo goes on a run, nobody seems to show for him and now Ade just gets in his way!!!!

  57. avenell says:

It has got to the stage where I actually like it when Eboue replaces him.. Theo’s final ball is woefull and he doesn’t fit in with our passing style..

  58. rico01 says:

peaches – i am with you on theo, av, stop moaning 😉

And your comment about Eboue tells me you are on a wind up 😛

  59. rico01 says:

sorry ave, i missed your ‘e’ off 🙄

  60. avenell says:

You are not going to like this one then.. try Theo as a striker if it doesn’t work.. flog him. and that is serious, we could do far better with the £20 odd million we could get for him..

  61. rico01 says:

Ave, i think his best position would be as a striker, his pace would rip through the heart of most defences – also, because of his pace we would get a few penalties..

  62. peachesgooner says:

If you think back to when Cashly and Bobby and Thierry were in control on the left wing they didn’t all run in a pack and trip over each other, they passed and ran and passed and ran and passed and scored – simples 🙂

Now Theo runs and Ade comes across to do what???? Surely Cesc should be the receiver from theo and look up to find Ade waiting in the box for a pin-point pass……..

  63. peachesgooner says:

    …..move over Arsene……..

  64. avenell says:

What worries me is he should be scoring a few more goals now.. If he is going to be a striker he should be looking at what 10 goals a season even allowing for his injuries?..

  65. rico01 says:

peaches – do i remember those days 😦

both nik and ade are guilty of that, they both seem to want to go and get the ball from the wing rather than be in a position to collect it in a goal scoring postion, or a position that will progress the attack. all this does is slow the attack down and allow the defence to get in the right place. i think they both want to be like henry, but sadly they have no chance.

with those two, we have so much height, both are able to out jump most defenders, so why not give clichy and theo etc a big target – then the crosses can be whipped in a bit higher and finally we might get more goals…

  66. rico01 says:

peaches, maybe you should go for Vik’s job at the end of the season 😉

  67. peachesgooner says:

ave – everyone should be scoring more goals now – we are a very creative team and there still seems to be this fear of failure. Last night Nasri had 2 good opportunities where he’d made himself the space and he didn’t shoot…….why would that be?

  68. peachesgooner says:

rico – d’you want to be my assistant 🙂

  69. avenell says:

When thierry used to go down the left Freddie used to cut in and score goals.. Theo is still busy chatting to the linesman..
I have never seen Theo to the left side of the penalty spot..

  70. rico01 says:

Go for it peaches, I can commute from 22 miles away from reading 😉

  71. peachesgooner says:

blimey ave – do you want theo to do all the work 🙂

  72. avenell says:

3 goals this season.. and he wants £60,000 a week.. a bit more work would be nice..
Nasri has scored 5 more goals and has only had 7 more apperances.. sell Theo and buy another Arshavin/Nasri.. we carry too many passengers.

  73. JonJon says:

theo needs to play uptop… then we will see the best of him..hes wasted on the wing

has good games and bad games…hes too inconsistent and when we have a fully fit midfield theo wont be in the starting lineup…

60k is too much for theo the winger bu 60k for theo the striker is peanuts…

  74. avenell says:

What I am saying as well.. You cannot blame Adebayor for not being in the middle because we play Wengerball.. Wimbledon and Chelsea play with Wingers. Adebayor draws the defence out to the left creating space for the attacking midfilelers to use. but theo never comes in to use that space.. Yet ade gets all the stick..

  75. avenell says:

Ade is pretty thick when it comes to being offside though.. what goes through his head.. he stands 3′ in front of the only defender he can see then is surprised when the flag goes up..
He came out of the training ground once saying he was the fastest arsenal player, so that proves he is quick. He would win a race over 15 yards anyway..

  76. rico01 says:

But Ave, when ade goes to the left or right, he just gets in the way of the player who has possession of the ball, why doesnt he move into, or towards a space for the ball to be played into ?

  77. rico01 says:

I think you are getting your yards and inches the wrong way around Ave, a lot of men do that 😉

  78. avenell says:

He goes short to link up with Theo, Nasri, Arshavin etc.. but I don’t think he is capable of playing that way.. that’s why I said the other day Ade doesn’t suit Arsenal..
But I don’t think Theo does either..

  79. avenell says:

    Psst.. ‘ that’s a foot… ” that is inches.. 😉

  80. rico01 says:

At last, a little smile from Grumpy 😛

and i dont know what you mean ave 😉

  81. avenell says:

About what Rico.. not the Oranges again.. 😉

  82. rico01 says:

‘that’s a foot’ comment, and what about oranges 😉

  83. Rasputin says:

He’s saying the symbol ‘ denotes feet and the symbol ” denotes inches rico – I much prefer the metric system….makes everything sound much bigger 🙂

  84. Rasputin says:

Theo doesn’t receive the ball early enough sometimes to exploit his pace. He does seem hampered by hugging the touchline so much. I don’t know if he is under instructions, but I like to see him collect the ball at the halfway line and cut inwards towards the goal. Considering we have so many clever ball players, we do not get into the box enough with the ball at our feet. We should win a lot more penalties (not the EE way!)

  85. avenell says:

I don’t know the terms on a keyboard, but I meant Ade was 3 feet offside not Inches which is a exclamation mark “. That was all.. 🙂

Oranges are used in whipping to eerm.. 😳 see michael hutchence..
How do I know rico? lol..

  86. rico01 says:

Thanks Rasp – sometimes I amaze myself with how thick i can be !

Are you now talking millimetres or mm for Ave 😉

  87. avenell says:

Thanks Rasp that was a better way of putting it..

  88. avenell says:

    I’m talking Outspan.. 🙂

  89. rico01 says:

I was just being naughty Ave, you know how you men measure things 😉

Anyway, I have got a few things to do so I will leave you boys to carry in with the smutt..

Be good 😉 Catch you later

  90. rico01 says:

Now I really am confused 😦

    I thought you meant Jaffa

  91. rico01 says:

rasp, I said about Pen’s earlier, you fine man you 😛

  92. rico01 says:

    Moscow 😉

  93. Rasputin says:

Sorry rico – I’ve just dipped back in and hadn’t read what has gone before…….. Respect to you and your expert analysis 😛

  94. rico01 says:

Rasp – no worries, i was teasing you – great minds and all that 😉

  95. avenell says:

Just got back.. Where is everyone? 😎

  96. JonJon says:

    evening all…whats going on???

ive got a feeling chelsea will win tonight…

  97. rico01 says:

Evening all, Come on you Blues 😉

  98. avenell says:

Let’s hope there are a few bookings or even injuries.. we have our share..

  99. kelsey says:

    Evening all,
can’t make my mind up which game to watch. Most are predicting a boring tight game between the english sides,so if I watch Barca/Bayern i am sure there will be a feast of goals at Anfield.

Anyway 2-1 next week against villarreal, write that down please ave.

  100. kelsey says:

    comment 100.

that’s 2-1 to us a nail biting affair.

i see rosicky has pulled out again , for the reserves.

  101. kelsey says:

    ave,
to give everyone a chance with thhe correct score chart(which is not easy) why don’t you offer an extra point if one predicts the actual result as well.

  102. avenell says:

Hi Kelsey.. I will be open to suggestions for next season .. I have already started this one and it might be unfair to change it now,, Raddy might kill me ..lol.

I would rather they played a game from each group per night.. then we could see our opponents in the next round..

  103. rico01 says:

Hi all – I am going to go with 3-1 home win on wednesday, and a 2-0 win against wigan 😛

kelsey – how can you suggest changing the rules half way through 😉

  104. kelsey says:

    rico,

because i want a hoiday 22 miles from reading.it’s my life time ambition 🙂

  105. kelsey says:

actually i hope raddy is alright. There appears to be a split in the earth right down the centre of italy.

  106. rico01 says:

Luke Freeman has signed pro terms today 😛

  107. avenell says:

And their are plenty of oranges to bring over from down your way Kelsey.. 🙂 For the 22 miles from Reading dungeon..

  108. kelsey says:

  114. JonJon says:

  115. JonJon says:

    night rico…

  116. avenell says:

    Naughty night rico.. 😉

  117. kelsey says:

is that a half time bet JJ.Thank god we aren’t playing them tonight and TH14 isn’t exactly slow.

  118. JonJon says:

no mate its full time… 😦

i hoping barca relax and bayern sort it out defensively 🙂

  119. London says:

    Evening

Has there been any more news on Gallas?

  120. JonJon says:

TH14 isnt slow but he is dirty that was intentional i reckon…..he didnt have to go in like that on the keeper…

  121. JonJon says:

    hi london mate…

not heard anything conclusive…last i heard he was having a scan but it looked like 6 weeks….

  122. JonJon says:

i knew it….liverpool have hit the skids and will fall away in the league as well now…. 😉

  123. London says:

    Hi Jonjon

Yeah, I was watching it, the chavs are running away with it. The chavs doing too well makes me feel quizzy, I had to leave.

  124. JonJon says:

the chavs wont get any futher than this round london… but liverpool are the form team so i want them crushed for PL purposes too. 🙂

  125. JonJon says:

  126. London says:

    Why what happened?

  127. JonJon says:

i had a coupon tonight on barca to win 4-0 and messi to score the first goal double…. 66-1 and i had a pam shriver on it…. 🙂

i also did an accumulator on a barca, chelsea, cardiff, celtic and rangers all to win which will get me £110 quid…

im just trying to find the rangers score…. 🙂

  128. London says:

So have you won £440 tonight?

  129. avenell says:

    2-1 to rangers JJ 🙂

  139. avenell says:

All the blogs are after you Wrighty.. you have just stolen a march on everyones post for tomorrow.. I thought about that one..lol

  140. London says:

Yes I did Ave I had actually noticed it. I thought it was quite funny in a sad sort of way. It was equally ridiculous this morning.
I have come to realise that there are some fans who might have an Arsenal duvet on their bed, an Arsenal mug at work and no doubt that they still have pictures of Flamini on their walls but the problem is that they don’t know anything about football..nothing, well one of them anyway, still none of my business now.

  141. JonJon says:

right lads im absolutely knackered… i was up at 4 this morning so im getting off to bedfordshire….

i’ll catch up with you all tomorrow…

    its been emotional… 😉

  142. Wrighty7 says:

    HELLLLLLLLLLLO!

  143. London says:

Jonjon what is a coupon. This answer to this question could be my down fall…that London seemed a decent enough chap, now he is in the bookies everyday coupon in his hand, no time to blog 😉

  144. London says:

    Night Jonjon

    Explain tomorrow.

  145. avenell says:

Haha Wrighty.. Your like Zorro of the blog world..

    Laters jonjon..

  146. Wrighty7 says:

    Ave,

I just love Gallas mate! 😉

  147. London says:

    Hello Wrighty

I have just read your post, it’s got to be 300 words tops, lazy sod 😉

  148. avenell says:

Gallas is loads better than Captain Gallas..

  149. Wrighty7 says:

    Ave,

I’m like Zorro? Please explain! LOL

  150. Wrighty7 says:

    Hello London,

I cant disagree with that! I am one LAZY Gooner! ha ha

  151. avenell says:

You come on leave your mark and go.. until the next time..
Then we are all left behind chatting away to you.. 🙂

  152. London says:

If we put in order the players we could most to least afford to lose, Gallas’ name would be at the end.

It’s been very quiet, may be it is a Theo knee injury?

  153. London says:

    Night Night speak tomorrow

  154. Wrighty7 says:

Ha ha Ave! NOW I get it! its been a long day matey! 😉

I feel bad sometimes,I just jog on don’t I?! Ha ha

  155. avenell says:

All I have heard is Mr wenger obe told l’equipe.. it doesn’t look good and he had a scan today..

  156. Wrighty7 says:

Fingers crossed London! I hope it isn’t as bad as it seems!

  157. avenell says:

    Speak tomorrow London.

You need to get a “Z” avatar wrighty..

  158. Wrighty7 says:

    Ave,

Do you know I love Gallas. Like a brother?

  159. Wrighty7 says:

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZoro

  160. Wrighty7 says:

I did have an avatar of Quagmire (Family guy) wearing an Arsenal shirt.

  161. avenell says:

Where has new found man love come from Wrighty?
Not his outbursts to the press or his one man crusade to destroy advertising hoardings in the Birmingham area.. :).. lol

  162. JonJon says:

a coupon london is other wise known as a football coupon…. 😉

you get a slip form in the bookies and you predict who will win lose or draw….

you get bet on 1 team or 5 teams or however many teams you want… the more teams you have the better because it increases the odds by accumulation of bets… otherwise known as an accumulator…
you can have a max of 15 teams

    tonight i had a 5 team accumulator…other wise known as a 5 fold bet…

i pick the favorites and the weekend is easier as there are more teams….

it is also easier at this time of the season cos you know whos top and bottom of the leagues….

a jonjon betting tip… just do the scottish leagues and the english lower leagues… the premiership is too unpredictable….

you can bet as many teams in as many leagues as you want and accumulate it together as long as you dont go over 15….. you can even add spanish teams if you like…

i dont do coupons until after xmas. the leagues become easier at about feb…. like i said they take shape by then…its easier to pick a winner…

the barca bet was a scorecast which is a totally differant bet…. you pick what team you want to win and you pick who will score 1st…. they are good cos they are big odds and a pound will do it the majority of the time….

but dont get hooked…. i never bet more than a tenner on anything….and thats only in midweek when theres less teams….

at the weekend i only put a pound on because theres more teams so the value increases…

dont get hooked, its only a game… a pound here and a pound there doesnt go amiss…know your limits… its the difference between addiction and fun…..

    😉 😆 😉

  163. Wrighty7 says:

    Ave,

To be honest mate I’ve always really rated him and was really pleased when he signed.

I’m gutted now we are finally seeing the best of him he could be out injured for ages!

  164. JonJon says:

right i really am off now …. that was for you london 😉

    night

  165. Wrighty7 says:

I’m going to put £4687 on Arsenal to win the CL.

    Cheers Jonjon…………….;)

  166. avenell says:

I must admit I thought we got a raw deal with Chelsea and they got the second best LB in the world with Cole..
Recently the tables have turned and Cole has been half the player he was for us..

  167. avenell says:

Do they have betting shops in Africa Wrighty?

  168. kelsey says:

    Good Morning,

So where are you rico, did you get smashed with the liverpool result.

JonJon is now our professional Betting Adviser, the John McCrirrick of AR.

What are the odds of Rosicky scoring a goal and against who and when 🙂

  169. JonJon says:

    hahaha kelsey

    morning guys…

rosicky to score the 1st goal in the CL final against barca!!!!!!! 😉

  170. JonJon says:

    wheres rico???

how good was essien last night???? dont think gerrard touched the ball in anger once….

  171. kelsey says:

I watched the Barca first half, they were awesome, even though Howard Webb denied them a penalty and they missed at least 2 other goals.TH14 didn’t exactly look slow, did he.Anyway, after Villarreal and Porto we can give them a pasting in a neutral venue in Rome, with Rosicky scoring the winner 🙂

Don’t worry the bindippers will wanmt Rafa out now, just after he signed a new contract.

  172. JonJon says:

liverpool will crash and burn now…they’ve had their purple patch and theyve hit the wall…

  173. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters and Roosters,

Hahahaha ‘pool – finally their luck has run out….. If we hadn’t squandered so many points to inferior teams early in the season, we could be 6 points clear at the top of the prem. Manure, chavs and pool are showing that they’re not that special. It will suit us to be underdogs in the CL final 🙂 It is uncanny how often fate dictates that history is re-run……can TH be on the losing side in a CL final for a second time with the team that beat him the first time and against the team he lost with the first time????….I don’t even understand that myself

  174. kelsey says:

    Jon Jon,

as it is quiet on here I will tell you a true story about how corrupt horse racing is.
In 1986 I had one of mt horses running at the old Wolverhampton race track. We had been playing about with the horse, called permanently pink, and the horse was no better than a Selling Plater.I booked Willie Carson to ride her,and at the time my wife was heavily pregnant with our son Ben,so we couldn’t go.Willie phoned me up on the morning of the race, and asked me how far he should win by.My horse was second favorite at 9/4(because of improved form in her previous race) so I said just get up on the line.in those days there was only the blower service no screening of races and it was a 7 furlong race.Anyway the race was off and things seemed to be going to plan, and suddenly during the commentary the commentator suddenly said betting show at Folkestone, and i never herad the end of my race.5 minutes later, which seemed like 2 hours he came back and said result at Wolverhampton first number 7 permanently pink(by a head). We won a wedge and didn’t buy her back at the auction.

  175. Rasputin says:

Morning Kelsey – I didn’t understand a word of that? I guess you betting fellas speak a language all of your own 😉

  176. rico01 says:

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Good Morning to you fine Roadsters, I am so happy you would have thought we had won 3-1 – I chuffin hate those Dippers with so much passion, and I love the fact Chelsea put them right back in their place, and at their own ground –

Essien – Arsene, go get him, steal him, kidnap him, I dont care, just go and get him 😛

  177. JonJon says:

bloody hell kelsey, thats an interesting tale and i beleive that…

i used to play about with the gee gee’s quite alot when i was younger…but as i got more and more into it i quickly realised its corrupt….

i only bet on the national, because its a religion and its anyones race….and the cold cup becaused kauto star is unbeatable….

    hi rasp

  178. JonJon says:

    hi rico

  179. rico01 says:

Still no news on Willy then 😦

  180. JonJon says:

    not as yet….

sky sports were saying last night its suspected medial ligament damage….

    could be out for months….

  181. rico01 says:

JJ – lets hope they are way wrong, you would think he’d have had a scan yesterday, and we would know by now.

No news is said to be good news, fingers crossed, eh

  182. JonJon says:

yes rico fingers crossed… i was really looking forward to having a fully fit squad again…

i dont think it will ever happen.. 😦

  183. Rasputin says:

    Morning JonJon,

Why don’t you go and rub some of your luck off onto Gallas’ knee 😉

  184. kelsey says:

    rico,
whwere were you this morning 🙂

  185. Rasputin says:

    Hi rico,

I agree about Essien, its like playing against 12 men when he’s on the pitch

  186. JonJon says:

essien is better than diaby denilson and song all put together…. if we had someone like that in our squad our midfield would be complete IMO

  187. kelsey says:

It’s a public holiday over here until monday,so most office staff buggered off at lunch time yesterday. They know how to arrange their holidays over here.

  188. rico01 says:

Hi Rasp, Essien, he is a monster, would much better suit a red and white shirt in London 😉

kelsey, had to go shopping, and sort stuff out, you know, we women have such a busy time…

I have to go out for a few hours guys and gals – be back around 3 ish – have a good day 😛

  189. kelsey says:

I agree about Essien he’s awesome, but they have an ageing squad whilst our squad are like chicks compared to them.my biggest regret is that we didn’t buy AA last summer, money must have been available then if we bought him in january.

  190. rico01 says:

Typical, the person i have to meet has just called to say he is running late, so you have to put up with me for another half hour 😉

  191. rico01 says:

kelsey – who would you rather Senna or Essien,

    essien for me ;P

  192. London says:

I’m old scool, I like to find good things in the players that wear red and white shirts, I hope Song breaks Essien’s leg in the semis.

  193. rico01 says:

Now this could be very very interesting, the players contract runs out next year, so if he is going to leave it will either this summer or they risk him leaving for free… He sounds just like an AW kind of buy..

He will be reasonably cheep cheep
He is only 22 yrs old
    He is French
He is known for his slide rule pass, not a ‘side’ rule pass

Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for another star at French club Le Mans. The Arsenal boss has already seen the Ligue 1 side’s goalkeeper Yohann Pele and Ivorian international Gervinho talk up interest from the Gunners scouting team and it now appears they have been joined on the shopping list by central midfielder Mathieu Coutadeur.

The 22-year-old has been in sterling form in recent months raising eyebrows across Europe for his hard work ethic and slide-rule passing.

Speaking about his contract situation and future ambitions, Coutadeur told press:

“I will have one year left on my contract at the end of the season, since I am tied to the club until 2010.

“For me, the ball is in the club’s court. I am ambitious. I want to progress.

“We will consider all this at the end of the season.”

  194. rico01 says:

London – dont get me wrong I prefer that way, but wouldnt you love us to get Essien from the russian camp… He is just what we need, and have missed since Paddy left

  195. London says:

    Morning Rico

I hope you are well, it was a general comment not aimed at anyone here.

  196. rico01 says:

Hey London, I am good thanks, hope all is well with you too.

I didnt take it that way, I truely understand where you are coming from, I would love it if Song, Diaby and Denilson suddenly upped their games and we didnt have to look elsewhere, but sadly I dont see that happening. We just lack that aggressive quick solid, hard tackling midfielder alongside Cesc – Diaby is always injured, Song is a little be slow off the mark, but is much much better than he was, and Denilson will always be Cesc’s deputy – and I would always love getting one over Chelsea, he is the only player though 😉

  197. rico01 says:

Off now all, catch you later 😛

  198. Rasputin says:

    Reproduced from Football365……

Arsenal defender William Gallas has been ruled out for the remainder of the season by the medial knee ligament damage he suffered in the Champions League draw at Villarreal.

The Gunners will also be without goalkeeper Manuel Almunia for three weeks after he suffered an ankle injury in Tuesday’s 1-1 quarter-final first-leg draw.

Full-back Gael Clichy will miss two weeks with a back injury, while Robin van Persie and Eduardo will undergo fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League match at Wigan.

    Bugger, bugger, bugger!!!

  199. peachesgooner says:

Well that puts a dampener on everything doesn’t it.

What a shame if what looked like was going to be an exciting end to the season fizzles out through injuries 😦

  200. peachesgooner says:

Gallas is the one I’m most upset about – Fabianski will need to step up but lots of people are calling for him to be given a chance and Gibbs has shown that he can do the left-backs job but both are inexperienced……

  201. Rasputin says:

Yes its Gallas that is the problem. It is a direct quote from Arsene’s press conference and so is to be believed. It is now that we have to question once again the transfer policy over the summer. The only defender we let go was Big Phil – I wouldn’t mind having him in the squad now as back-up 😦

  202. peachesgooner says:

Now rasp – whoever put that idea into your head 🙂

  203. JonJon says:

big phil isnt a bad option for games against teams like wigan….its the big occasions he cant play in…

  204. Rasputin says:

I agree JonJon, but if the worst happens and 2 out of the 3 central defenders we have left get injured, we would be looking at Song to fill in at CB. I’m not sure Sylvester is up to playing in a run of games and Harvard is out on loan.

  205. Rasputin says:

The upside is that JD seems to play best when paired with Kolo so let’s pray they stay fit for the rest of the season………(never gonna happen 😦 )

  206. Rasputin says:

I forgot about Gavin Hoyte – he show’s promise but is nowhere near ready…….

  207. Rasputin says:

Anyway ras – nice talking to you…yea, nice talking to you too ras – I’m off for a while…laters ras…yea,…….bye ras

  208. JonJon says:

song isnt a bad shout either… he did ok in the CC games he played at CB…looked stronger there than he did in midfield…although he has upped his game…until we played villareal that is..

  209. Rasputin says:

I think Song is a better CB than midfielder too, his strength is a bonus and his lack of pace is OK as long as we have speedy athletic wingbacks.

  210. Rasputin says:

I really am off now – hope someone talks to you JonJon 😉

  211. rico01 says:

Afternoon All, real sad about Gallas and Clichy, Just hope Fabianski doesn’t get an injury otherwise we are truly snookered..

I wonder who AW will play against Wigan, JD, Silvestre or Song – Maybe Silvestre will play at LB, and Song/JD alongside Kolo – cant believe how unlucky we are with our injuries again 😦

  212. rico01 says:

All quiet, so I am off again, catch you soon

  213. kelsey says:

    good evening,
    where is avenell today ???

  214. avenell says:

    Haha you missed me..
