From Russia With Love..

Wednesday night saw a nervous Arsenal side just manage to scrape a result against a depleted Roma outfit. Some will disagree with me but we were poor. I know we won the tie (just about via the lottery that is the dreaded penalty shootout) but in case some people didn’t realise we actually lost the game. Once again we failed to open up a team and I remember saying a while back that when Gallas has a bad game and we fail to open up a defence we will lose and that’s just what happened. Gallas and Kolo were both guilty of a concentration lapse and we lost.

The game against Blackburn will not be easy. Fat Sam likes to play percentage football, he sets his team out with the intent to work hard, close down, launch the high balls and kick the living daylights out of the opposition so we wont have it easy one bit.  We’ve struggled against the physical, hard working, hoofing sides many times this season so after Wednesdays performance I expect Sir Arsene OBE CBE to have given this side a good ear bashing and I want us to take the game to Blackburn from the first whistle. An early goal would change Blackburns approach, they will be forced to open up and we could score a few.

News is that Eduardo is injured again and Cesc, Rosicky and Ade (boo hoo) are still out, so I expect Arshavin to be the only change in the squad from Wednesday. He and Theo both need to start, which means I dont want our starting line up to include Nikki “brickwall” Bendtner or Eboue “the clown”.

Ive got a horrible feeling Wenger will  play

Almunia

Sagna Kolo Gallas Clichy

Eboue(free role) Denilson Song Diaby

RvP Brikki

Thats not going to win us anything.

The team I want to start is

Fabianski

Sagna Kolo Gallas Gibbs

Theo Denilson Song Nasri

Arshavin RvP

Almunia is nervous when it comes to hoofing teams so I want Fabianski in. The lad plays like he’s on speed but he comes for everything and commands his area and thats what we’ll need.

Clichy is having some stinkers this season and enoughs enough. He needs to be dropped for a few games and Gibbs is the man for the job. Ive always liked Gibbs, so I’d like him to start.

Im not the biggest fan of either Denilson or Song, but if they just sit and protect and let the foursome of Nasri, Theo, RvP and Arshavin all interchange and do the attacking we should be defensively ok and rip Blackburn apart attack wise. Songs physical presence will be needed, I cant believe im saying that!!!!!

This game is the one where I expect our man from Russia to have a blinder and score his 1st goal for us, maybe even two. It was obvious he wasn’t fully fit when we signed him but he has shown glimpses in the last few games to suggest his ‘pre season’ is coming to an end and we will see some attacking prowess return to our squad.

We need to win this one because Villa have hit the skids and are dropping points all over and their fixtures over the next few weeks doesn’t do them any favours, so i’ll be cheering the Spuds on too believe it or not. We will take fourth spot this weekend and Villa won’t get it back so come on Arshavin, show the Premier League what your about.

Lets hope the Mancs do a job over the Bin Dippers too and bring them back down to earth after the Madrid result. It gives us a better chance to catch them too and finish the season higher than fourth. Wouldn’t that be sweet if we play our squad players all season with our stars out for most of it and we still finish 2nd in the PL and win the FA cup and CL. The Bindippers wouldn’t even finish in the top 6 without Gerrard and Torres in the squad for 75% of games so it just shows really how good a job Wenger is doing with this team.

The performance against Roma wasn’t the best, but we got through and i’m hoping the confidence and the team bonding a shootout win can give a team will be the lift and gelling influence this team needed.

Lets give Blackburn a damn good hiding and show the teams above us (except for the Mancs) that they are writing us off at their peril.

4-0 to the Arsenal guys. You heard it hear 1st.

    Morning Roadsters,

Sadly JonJon, I think you got everything about right in your excellent post!…although I do think Arsene will start with AA at the expense of either Diaby or EE.

Nasri gave his all on wednesday and looked shattered, and it wouldn’t hurt to give Cliche a rest particularly as there is nothing to choose between him and Gibbs on current form. I,m guessing your 4 nil was tongue in cheek, I’d settle for a scrappy 1 nil and 4th in the table 😉

  2. JonJon says:

    Hi Rasp,

I dont think we’ll see my dream team either, but i do think if Arshavin hits an early goal for us, or anyone for that matter, we could dominate this game.

I dont mind if we win 1 nil at all, i just dont fancy sitting and biting my nails for 90mins, i want the game put to bed before the hour mark. Or am i wanting too much???? 😉

  3. kelsey says:

Good morning again roadsters and thanks for your good wishes rico.

A good honest post JJ, but as you say who we feel ought to play and who actually does are two entirely different things.I would prefer Fabianski in goal and Gibbs also given a chance, but I doubt AW will drop either Almunia or Clichy.Apparently there is a doubt over Theo,so today really is an opportunity for AA to stamp his mark.
We are in the quarter finals of 2 great cup competitions and breathing down villa’s neck, yet some of our performances,as in rome made me embarrassed as a supporter for the crap we played. The Gallas/Toure “not speaking to each other” has reared it’s ugly head once again, and if you add the clash of personalities between Bedntner and Adebayor, and who knows else, does not bode well for the future.I remain with the stance that morale and confidence is low,as there are too many chiefs and not enough indians, and AW seems to have lost the respect of some players and has no real plan B as maybe he is comparing this squad still to the invinsibles, and expects some players to perform better than they are actually capable of.It will be a hard game today, when did we last have an easy game, especially at home, but hopefully we can squeeze a result by the odd goal.I am a realist and that is how i see it at the moment, I would like to be more positive, but i reiterate something is wrong behind closed doors at THOF

  4. JonJon says:

Hi kelsey, i agree with that statement that things are wrong behind the scenes.

I really cant beeive kolo even opened his mouth in the 1st place, to me thats totally unprofessional and our season has been full of instances like this. it doesnt help things one bit.

the media dont need an excuse to put us down but giving them one gift wrapped just puzzles me.

i think the shootout win is just what this team needed.i even saw gallas hugging team mates so im hoping something magical happens out on the pitch today.

  5. Rasputin says:

JonJon, we need to start games with a greater sense of urgency and for once convert a reasonable percentage of our chances. I’m not sure where Vela figures in Arsene’s thinking, I assume he’ll be playing on tuesday. AA should play both games and if he scores today, that could be the catalyst for victory in the FA cup. However, my nonsensical footballing 6th sense is telling me that we willl scrape a win today but could lose to Hull. I expect Everton to beat manure and get to the final.

  6. JonJon says:

Thats the thing win Manure, Rasp.

I dont think they’ll win everything, they will tire as it comes towards the end of the season, lets not forget theyve been to japan and back mid season and all the games will take their toll.

we have an excellent chance of winning the FA cup. even if we get the Mancs in the final, we will win it.

i was undecided over vela today, but like you i think he’ll start him against Hull, probably drop robin.

  7. JonJon says:

And thats the problem with not having an assassin in the team. none of our strikers apart from dudu are clinical finishers. vela comes close but wenger wont let him play 30 games a season yet so we are stuck with nikki and ade who are crap in front of goal.

rvp isnt a finisher either. hes more of a linkup man between midfield and attack but he’ll still hit 20goals. if we could get a 30goal man to acompany that thats a league winning strikeforce. dudu and robin would be my choice next season.

  8. Rasputin says:

Its good news for us that Santa Cruz is out today – I rate him as better than Nik and Ade – I would take him in exchange for both of them!

Its a no brainer for Allardyce, we can write the script for their performance today, but without a cutting edge at the front hopefully they won’t get the lucky goal on the break (against the run of play) that he will be hoping for….

  9. JonJon says:

i agree with that rasp. i really rate Santa cruz.

you dont score 17goals for a team like blackburn if your crap.

hes found it hard this season mainly because i think he wants to leave and also a combination of injuries and the fact dunn has been injured and bentley was sold so he lost his supply players.

  10. JonJon says:

the best way to beat a team like blackburn is not to let them settle and not let them get us involved in a war with them.

we need plenty of movement up front and pull them out of position, which means i dont want to see any sideways passing, if we go after them fro the start and get a goal in the first 10mins it will change the whole game plan. blackburn will have to come at us and if we get a second before half time its over. 😉

  11. Rasputin says:

True JonJon, we’ll never know, but I wonder how many goals RSC would have scored for us if he’d had as many chances as Ade and Nik this season. If we think we need the option of a big guy up front, he’s 6ft 3ins, can score with both feet and his head and is a classy footballer. I wasn’t joking when I said I’d swap him for the other two. We have too many strikers and with the clinical ‘finishers’ returning to the squad we could reduce the wage bill and replace mediocrity with proven talent.

  12. kelsey says:

    Rasputin hi there,
how often have we said we need to start the game with more urgency, and this season it doesn’t happen. We got a high percentage of possession with short sideway passes and eventually the move breaks down.neither RVP(who i felt was going to e better than he is,another one with an ego problem) and Bedntner have pace,so the quick counter attack, that we were famed for,is nowadays a rarity.Theo’s pace will make a huge difference as long as we are more clinical in front of goal, and Eduardo is the only one who is capable of doing that.

I will have a little wager that Vela will not be our next superstar.he had two average seasons at Osauna and is never picked to start a league game,so AW doesn’t think he is ready yet and there was talk of him going on loan to Hull(which is usually the kiss of death). He has produced two delicate chipped goals, but again he is no overmars,a bit lightweight and IMO he won’t make it.

  13. London says:

Excellent, thought provoking post Jonjon. I really enjoyed reading it. I supect with hind sight you would probably include Arshavin in Wenger’s line up. My guess at his line up would be:

    ——–Almunia
    Sagna,Toure,Gallas,Clichy
    Denilson,Diaby,Song,Arshavin
    ——RVP,Bendner,

Gibbs will play on Tuesday as will Vela and Eduardo.

  14. JonJon says:

too true rasp mate, ive been saying that all season, we have too many strikers and if we let ade go we wouldnt be missing a thing.

im hoping ades new contract in the summer was a short term plan by wenger.

wenger knew we had dudu out long term and injury doubts surounding robin. vela, theo and bendtner are all young and with flamini and hleb leaving wenger would of felt he had no choice but to give in to ade.

but, with dudu back and robin proving fitness, vela proving he can finish and the signing of arsh, if we got a good offer for ade this window wenger will take it.

the new contract just secured the fact we can dictate the transfer fee and if he hit another 30goals he was worthy of that contract. it was a win win situation for arsene. although it didnt seem that way at the time.

  15. peachesgooner says:

    Morning roadsters

Thats what I like to see lots of confident comments about todays game. I reckon Arsh must score today, hes come so close in the previous games.

    How are we all?

  16. JonJon says:

hi london, ive got a feeling your right about tuesdays game including vela and gibbs.

im just getting all excited about the fact we are coming to the business end of the season and we have still everything to play for.

weve suffered some hardships this season but its far from over, i just want to see a performance today to make teams sit up and say, wow, we dont want arsenal in the next game.

  17. London says:

    Morning kelsey

A tad harsh on Vela. I think there is more method to what seems like madness when it comes to how Wenger is developing him. There is a post there somewhere.

  18. JonJon says:

hello peaches, one is giddy today.

im finding myself looking for phormiums now. i went to the shop this morning and i was looking in everyones gardens for the thing as i was passing. 😉

  19. Rasputin says:

    Hi Kelsey,

I like Vela because of the spirit in which he plays the game. I agree that with everyone fit he wouldn’t be a first choice player, but hopefully he would be a good option from the bench in important games and could start against the ‘lesser’ opposition.

  20. peachesgooner says:

London – I thought Theo was gonna play in mid-field?

  21. London says:

It’s going to happen Jonjon, we have too much talent coming back. I dont think we are going to be able to show the quick passing skills of old today but God help the team we get after that international break. Ashavin and Fabregas. Be afraid, be very afraid.

  22. peachesgooner says:

JonJon – they are fabulous plants, I love them, they don’t all grow to be giants, some varieties are reliably 3-4ft and there are different coloured leaves too. The yellow variegated leaves are the best in my view 🙂

  23. JonJon says:

i also feel thats a tad harsh on vela. when he was out on loan he played as a left winger for the majority of it.

but the lads a finisher, so he needs to play upfront.

i remember reading somewhere at the start of the season that vela had shots on target ratio of 75%. he may not score but he forces a save 75% of the time. for a teenager thats very promising. and then we see some of the goals hes scored this season

in my opinion hes more of the type of player we need than what nikki is.

  24. peachesgooner says:

kelsey – vela is gonna be fabulous, end of 😆

  25. peachesgooner says:

Morning rasp – have you got sunshine on the hertfordshire hillside?

  26. peachesgooner says:

This is gonna be close, you must all be writing long posts 😆

  27. JonJon says:

i think i know what i looking for peaches, i think we have one in our back yard but it looks like it poorly, the tips of the leaves look brownish and like theyve been chewed and stabbed.

  28. peachesgooner says:

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

Havn’t had one of those all week 😆 😆 😆

  29. peachesgooner says:

That could be a Yucca, are the leaves floppy or stiff?

  30. London says:

    Peaches

Theo won’t start. Wenger has already hinted at that; I suspect he will come on in the second half and start on Tuesday.

The line up to face Hull

    ——Fabianski
    Eboue,Toure,Djourou,Gibbs
    Walcott,Song,Diaby,Arshavin
    —-Eduardo,Vela

As I wrote that I started to get goose bumps as it dawned on me just how awesome that team is.

  31. London says:

    Peaches

What were you doing at 10:13? You sound happier for it.

  32. JonJon says:

their stiff at the base until about 3/4 of the way up and then it flops. sounds poorly to me. 😆

a floppy stiff one doesnt sound like fun 😉

oooohhhhhhhhh i like that team london.

but i cant see wenger changing the entire defence,

i honestly want eboue to be given a chance a RB to resurect his career with us, sagna hasnt been the best this season so id give eboue his old place back. but that just means what do we do with sagna if eboue cements a place???? move him into midfield 😉

  33. JonJon says:

the thing is, we have two players for one postion, one was in the PL dream team as RB and the other was in the CL dream team as RB.

i just dont understand whats gone wrong.

on paper thats awsome, on the pitch its been terrible.

  34. Rasputin says:

    Morning Peaches,

You must be in your element…going to the game today, and blogging with your cyber fanclub about plants and discussing your favourite player …Carlos…yummy..vela 😉

The sun’s shining periodically on my Hertfordshire Hillside but my back has just gone into spasm again sitting up to the PC…bugger…

  35. peachesgooner says:

London – I love that team and soon Fab will be in there too!!!!! How amazing, what an end to the season we’re gonna have 🙂

    At 10.13 I was celebrating my hat-trick 😉

  36. Rasputin says:

I heard that James Corden is a gooner? His sketch with the England team on comic relief last night was hilarious. I particularly liked the way he took the ‘P’ out of fatfwank for not being as good as Gerrard and told JT to save the tears for home….he could have given A’hole a harder time though.

  37. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – this is my forum, wait ’till Ave and JonJon ask me to write a piece about Fabulous Phormiums 😆

  38. Rasputin says:

Here’s the link for anyone who didn’t see it…

  39. kelsey says:

I seem to be in the minority about Vela, and I hope i am wrong, but it’s good to have different opinions about various players.I am off out now to clear up 5 days of dog poo, should be back in a day or so 🙂

  40. London says:

Sagna is by far the superior defender. There isn’t a chance that Eboue will take his place. I am still convinced that Eboue will be sold at the end of the season. As for Tuesday even Sagna our fittest player is going to need a rest. But hey, if Sagna plays right back on Tuesday ahead of Eboue I won’t be complaining.

  41. London says:

    Enjoy, Kelsey.

  42. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – I missed it, I saw the trailer for it last week, gonna see if I can find it somewhere, back in a bit.

    You’re a bit of a crock this week aren’t you rasp 😆

  43. Rasputin says:

I’ve posted the link peaches – you can fast forward the 1st third, just watch the bit where he’s addressing the players

  44. Rasputin says:

Peaches, the only plant we’re really interested in on here is ‘Lolium perenne’ and what we do on it 😉

  45. JonJon says:

i just watched it rasp, thats funny.

  46. peachesgooner says:

I watched it, its really funny 🙂

…………’Lolium perenne’ can’t place that one rasp

  47. peachesgooner says:

The singing littlepeaches is off to the states tmoro for a month gigging and recording and guess what shes not exactly happy that mummy is going to football for hours this afternoon 😦

I don’t know, you give birth to them, feed them and clothe them and then they moan cos you want to go and watch football when they want you to be driving them around and doing their last bits of washing aaaarrrrggggghhhhh

  48. peachesgooner says:

Rant over – back to footie.

As I missed the fabulous goals last sunday I’m hoping to see us win and a fabulous goal from Arsh.

  49. peachesgooner says:

    ooooohhh I snuck in another hat-trick 😆

  50. JonJon says:

peaches im confident that we’ll see a performance today. all the fans at the game wil be given a treat. 😉

  51. avenell says:

    Morning Roadsters..

If you are there jonjon or Peaches.. i have just taken a pic of a phornium from the garden and stuck it in the girlie bits (temp) just as an experement..

  52. peachesgooner says:

Morning ave – I say you’re becoming a bit of a whizz at this technology stuff 😆

  53. JonJon says:

ive seen it ave,i knew you were about mate.

  54. JonJon says:

what are your predictions for today mate.

  55. avenell says:

haha just been watching all you guys chat.. it’s just great to see avenell road working so well.

  56. JonJon says:

the only way is up mate 😉

  57. peachesgooner says:

ave – were you checking we were all behaving nicely 😉

JonJon did you look at the plant? If yours has purple leaves it’ll be Phormium tenax ‘Purpureum’

  58. JonJon says:

yes peaches thats it, it has redish purplish leaves. i think the caterpillars or something have been at it though.

  59. avenell says:

    I was doing a stan collimore.. 😉

  60. JonJon says:

    beating up your mrs?????

  61. avenell says:

Haha .. that will teach her to get the weather forecast wrong.. after a stella..

  62. London says:

    That is hilarious

  63. JonJon says:

are you going to the game london???

  64. avenell says:

3-1 with a late goal from arshavin..

  65. JonJon says:

i like it ave, positive vibes.

  66. London says:

    Is the Pope?

  67. avenell says:

    Morning London..

Are you taking the notepad today? 😉

  68. London says:

    Do bears?

  69. JonJon says:

does a bear shit in the woods?? 😉

  70. avenell says:

    Not if stans watching. 😉

  71. Rasputin says:

Let’s hope Arsene has his happy face on today 🙂 although I shouldn’t think that someone trawling up the argument between Gallas and Toure will have best pleased him. Like James Corden said “let the football do the talking boys”

  72. London says:

Morning Ave, yes, I will take the note pad. All I’m hoping is that it is not as predictable as I am expecting. I’m going for 2-1 but 7-0 would make a nice change.

  73. peachesgooner says:

This arguement between Gallas and Toure, do you think its a new one or old news? Re-hashed to destabilise?

  74. peachesgooner says:

Hey, we did put 6 past them a couple of years ago at the Ems – largely unjustified I remember 🙂

  75. JonJon says:

    LOL ave.

rasp, that comment by kolo suggests to me one of them is off in the summer.

wenger couldnt do it in january becuase the squad is thin enough but if one of them was togo who would you chose.

personally although i love kolo, id want gallas to stay. hes a better defender IMO

  76. avenell says:

I always used to think we could do that every game in the 80’s.
on the train thinking big win..
In the ground, if we can score in the first 15mins 6-0
after half hour, if we can score 4-0..
if we score in the first half 2-0..

then reality hits.. any goal will do..lol

  77. JonJon says:

4 goals, a cleansheet, total domination with 70% posession and at least 10 shots on target and i will be very very very pleased.

id be more over the moon than one of robins shots!!!!! 😉

  78. JonJon says:

    wengerball wengerball wengerball.

    i want to see wengerball.

  79. avenell says:

best thing to do is record the game on long play then play it back at normal speed..

instant wengerball.. not sure if song will be fast enough even then.. eh london? 😉

  80. peachesgooner says:

ave – did you have a look at the footyonline thingy?

  81. avenell says:

No I’ll do it now.. I was never in the scouts..

I was going to do a girl guides joke then I’m a sick man.. 😦

  82. peachesgooner says:

ave – just download the software – rasp is going to be out so if you’re very good I’ll let you use my codes 🙂

  83. peachesgooner says:

    mummycab for 30mins aarrrrrgggghhhhh

  84. JonJon says:

im really looking forward to the manc bindipper game,

    should be an epic.

  85. avenell says:

Thanks Peaches.. always nice to be second best.. 😉

2 questions.. Would the email address have to be the same as the paypal email?, because I think paypals in nita’s name..

And can I download the software without joining?

  86. JonJon says:

how have liverpool managed to get to te position they are in???? ive just looked at the line up and their squad is crap

even with all our injuries we still have a better team

    i just dont get it.

  87. avenell says:

They have better players in the 2 key areas.. Alonso and Torres.. I cannot bring myself to write the name of the other diving cheating twaunt..

  88. JonJon says:

we should of signed alonso when we had the chance.

    but weve discussed this though.

  89. avenell says:

  90. JonJon says:

this is what i was telling you the other night ave,

    oh the days

  91. avenell says:

    There back now jonjon..

  92. JonJon says:

do you think if we signed someone like alonso in the summer and we had a fully fit team for 80% of games nex season we’ll win the PL

    i do.

  93. peachesgooner says:

Yes you can download without joining

email address doesn’t have to be the same

  94. avenell says:

peaches where do I download the software? I cannot get beyond the home page without joining..

I’ve ruined my image that I am good on the tech stuff now.. 😦

I think that’s the key jonjon a fully fit squad.. and one player in the alonso position..

  95. JonJon says:

    battery died mate.

  96. avenell says:

    No probs chat later!

  97. JonJon says:

yeah i’ll charge it up a bit just sat watching the manc game, it was 1nil and i went to go make a sandwich and its 1 all

  98. avenell says:

don’t you call them butty’s lol..

  99. JonJon says:

only warm fillings, like chip butty or egg butty or bacon butty

a turkey cheese and salad cream butty doesnt have the same ring to it. 😉

its a sarny when its cold and a butty when its hot. 😉

  100. JonJon says:

    liverpool 2-1.

  101. avenell says:

I thought it was the boat towed behind a powered narrowboat..

  102. JonJon says:

what a sarny or a butty????

  103. avenell says:

Got there in the end.. 😉

  104. kelsey says:

Great game to watch as a neutral.I wish we had torres, only 23,sheer class, but if the truth be told we really want the mancs to win,not even draw,Liverpool winning will put 2 not 1 out of sight.

  105. JonJon says:

ahhhh thats what you meant, i didnt have a propergander at it 😉

  106. JonJon says:

i know kelsey, i thought it was going to be a good game, i hope the mancs win too, as i said in the post, it will be a good result for us.

  107. JonJon says:

    what did i tell you

come on arsenal rip them to peices……..

  108. John says:

pffft same old shite from a fat sam side.
almunia needs to keep his head.

  109. avenell says:

    Alex song rules okay.. 🙂

  110. avenell says:

hi john.. how are you mate.

never seen manuel quite this wound up.. I quite like it, it makes him seem more confident.

  111. John says:

    alright avenell, all good, yourself?

second time in a week that almunia has reminded me of mad jens cannot be a good thing 😀
i really wanna see us stick another couple past these thugs.

  112. John says:

    what a goal!!!

  113. JonJon says:

    great goal

    fantastic…..

bendtner was stood there looking as if to say pass it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you’d of missed it brikki. you cant finish your dinner…..

from russia with love haha magic

  114. JonJon says:

aarrrrggggghhhh how many times do i have to put up with him……

id have my 4 nil if it wasnt for him 😉

  115. John says:

thank god, carlos is on for bendtner
    it’s amazing he didnt score…
how many clear cut chances did he miss? 10 maybe? shocking performance in front of goal.
could definitely have been more than 4 nil!

  116. John says:

3 nil with 5 mins left, eboue does a nice little dance and you might get your 4 nil yet.
bendtner would have missed it 😉

  117. John says:

    ahahaha 4 nil mate

  118. avenell says:

I feel unwell.. eboue 2 goals..

  119. JonJon says:

    YYYYeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

do i get the pre match reports all the time ave 😉

  120. avenell says:

I need to talk to you jj..lol..

  121. John says:

prophetic man, quick, hit me up with some lottery numbers!

  122. JonJon says:

    see what happens

brikki comes off and i get my 4 nil.

    hes crap isnt he????

is it just me or his song coming along nicely and when we have a fully fit squad he’ll be above denilson in the pecking order????

  123. JonJon says:

doesnt that table look so much better and our goal differance is better too.

never thought id say this but COME ON TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR.

If eboue can do it, so can you 😉

  124. kelsey says:

Bloody hell, football makes a fool of one. When eboue missed after bedntner 8 misses I was going to call the deadly duo “Bill and Ben” the flowerpot men.

Arshavins second had a touch of bergkamp third against Leicester.
Song had another really good game, against a bunch of dirty twunts, especially Djoiuf the spitting arsehole.

I feel sorry for Bedntner,I know he is young, but he just hasn’t got the composure needed to put the ball in the net,his distrubition is ok.Theo gave us the pace we have been missing.Toure looked good, and a difficult game especially in the first half, changed dramatically in the second half,AA is going to be a huge asset.Bedntner’s confidence,if in fact he had any left, will be shattered,he needs to move on.

  125. JonJon says:

    i agree kelsey

i dont think its meant to be with us. abit like senderbramble.

anyone can pass a ball, anyone can run 5 yards with it, but not everyone can finish and nikki cant finish. hes a striker thats his job so hes no good to us, he needs to go.

  126. avenell says:

jonjon I have sent something via email regarding your pre match posting.. lol

    lucky b’stard..

  127. avenell says:

Kelsey.. how’s ben today still perking up?

  128. avenell says:

I’d still rather we play bendtner than the other tosser up front.. cash in time for one of the big strikers..
    keep the cheaper one..

  129. kelsey says:

    hi avenell,
very slow progress, but he’s keeping his food down,I didn’t realise how ill he was.My wife will need to stay for another week,as he gradually builds his strength up.he works 12 hours a day which meand he gets up at 5.00 a.m. and gets home at 21.00 and he gets statuary sick pay of 74.00 per week, feeing joke, but the main thing is he needs time to recover and that will be a few months,so my wife is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea(you know what I mean). thanks for asking,at least the result will cheer him up.

  130. London says:

4-0 to the good guys. I was impressed with that but: “This game is the one where I expect our man from Russia to have a blinder and score his 1st goal for us, maybe even two.” That is just showing off. Lol

  131. JonJon says:

or even better ave, we get rid of them both 😉

hahaha london, it was a lucky shout, my bookie isnt happy either. 😉

how did you find the game london, was it electric???

  132. avenell says:

We can re use todays post again as the match report.. 😉

  133. JonJon says:

    haha

  134. kelsey says:

a couple of pointers for me.

nasri definitely plays better at home.

never start a match with bedntner, bring him on with 20/25 minutes left,if we must,as he will get more time against tired legs.

arshavin is the brain we have been looking for,pay big bucks for experience.should have done that in the summer.

    song really linked well today

Let’s hope we really feel more confident now as a team, let Man u and liverpool have all the headlines today,it may well suit us

  135. JonJon says:

not just experience kelsey but proven quality….

let manure and luckypool fight it out, we have our own fight with villa but i reckon over the next 4/5 games we’d of put them out of sight and chelseas next on the radar. 😉 we’ll quietly sneak up on them like they did to us last season. sweet.

  136. avenell says:

It’s all gone a bit quiet..

I’m clocked in for the evening so if your about..

Where’s peaches. I need to say thank you to her.. and see if she wants her new passwords.. 😉

  137. peachesgooner says:

    Hello, I’m back

  138. kelsey says:

Right, can we have a bird’s eye view of the game. Was nic booed off ? Shame,he looked utterly gutted,as if he had played his last game for us(not literally).

I await your response gooner of peaches.

  139. avenell says:

Thanks peaches that was the best stream I have ever watched on a computer.
I suppose you are busy packing little peaches off..
Best of luck to her and I hope all goes well with the trip..

  140. peachesgooner says:

    Match report

Poor Nikki pink boots got into so many fantastic positions – should have scored a hat-trick from the eight chances he had!!!! He got a standing ovation when he came off, I didn’t hear any booing. He worked really hard today – hes only young and we won 4-0 so I don’t think we can be hard on him. Hes gonna be really hard on himself. if Dudu had been on the pitch we would have won 10-0 minimum.

  141. London says:

No booing today Kelsey none at all. Very different today.

  142. Rasputin says:

Typical, I drive up to Loughborough to visit my daughter without even a radio to listen to the game on and we win 4 nil doh……… I’ve just remembered I’m superstitious!!!…does this mean I have to miss every game if I want us to win 😦

  143. avenell says:

Stan the perv on talks b***ocks reckons they were ironic cheers when he went off..

  144. peachesgooner says:

How fabulous in Arshavin – we returned to Arsenal football today, he has a quick footballing brain and everyone is gonna need to respond by being quicker. Song and Denilson had some great inter-play and Arsharvin inspired the players to return to one touch football. I went to the game with another blogger Franchise – he was so excited by Arshavin and I reckon Cesc can’t wait to be on the pitch with him. I’m telling you its gonna be so amazing. Give the ball to Arshavin – hes magic!!!

  145. avenell says:

Too right rasp.. you won’t want peaches stream then. 😉

  146. peachesgooner says:

They might have been ironic by some section of the crowd but almost the whole stadium rose to applaud him. Hes gonna be so gutted when he watches them again. We can’t be hard on him, he got into great positions.

  147. peachesgooner says:

Thats it then rasp, you might aswell hang up your scarf – anyone would think you didn’t know what was going on!!!!!!!!! Blog raspberry to you 😆

  148. avenell says:

Trouble is peaches he done the same thing against Burnley and got the kids knocked out of the carling..
It’s a shame he wasn’t a bit shorter then mr wenger obe could do a theo with him to build his confidence up.

  149. peachesgooner says:

mummycab for 15minutes – be glad when shes gone 😉

  150. JonJon says:

i dont think its a case on being hard on him, but lets say for example the game had finished 0-0. would he of got applauded off??? probably not. its only because we still gave them a going over that we can forgive him but thats the type of performances we’ve had off him all season.

take burnley for example, he cost us that game, but the CC is not seen as that important so it was forgotten.

the whole team played fantastically but in fairness he did have a stinker, all the good work our players were doing and he couldnt finish it off. but its to be expected now.

  151. Rasputin says:

I am looking forward to seeing MOTD for the first time in months. Elsewhere folks are saying that Nik was guilty of some dreadful misses but also that he got into some very good positions – it appears he is a footballing ‘curate’s egg’.

Question to anyone who watched…how/why was it decided that EE should take the penalty?

  152. avenell says:

It’s supposed to be the main game on sky rasp.. 8.30 ish I think.

  153. JonJon says:

from what i can gather rasp, EE was given the pen as a confidence thing, i think the players thought it was the right thing to do given the fact hes been under enormous pressure and negative exposure recently.

  154. JonJon says:

i wouldnt bother with MOTD, they’ll have us on last and we’ll see 5 mins of the game. manu will top the list then hull then middlesboro, waste of time.

football first is better, you get to see all the game and aves right, we are 1st pick tonight

  155. kelsey says:

I am with you on that JJ.OK he sprayed the ball around but his main function is to score goals. It’s alright folk saying he will be good in 3 or 4 years time,I believe he is a luxury we can’t afford. The problem is that Ade is woeful this seasn, will Eduardo manage more than 5 of our 9 games left and RVP is not a prolific goalscoror.A bit of a conundrum.

  156. avenell says:

Alan knobend is going to say almunia should have been sent off and we were lucky to win..

  157. Rasputin says:

    Thanks for that ave/JonJon 😉

  158. JonJon says:

thats what i said earlier kelsey, anyone can pass a ball to a team mate, but as a striker your job is to finish it all off, he cant do it.

hes shown that all the time hes been here that he’s useless in front of goal and now hes had a run in the 1st team its obviuos hes rubbish.

he had at least 3 glorious chances today that even jeffers would of finished, and he fluffed the lot.

  159. JonJon says:

both the alans will say blackburn were poor and the result flattered us and it was the fact that their main player givet had to be taken off.

i stopped watching MOTD ages ago.

  160. avenell says:

it is the main game starts at 8.25 just checked ..

  161. JonJon says:

have you noticed that the football first commentators kiss our arses, even when we dont play well they continue with the look at arsenal and the crisp passing comments, i love it 😉

  162. avenell says:

Someone found us today by searching “andy avenell”.. I should do a house makeover blog on the side..lol

  163. JonJon says:

    😉

  164. rico01 says:

    Hi Guys and Gals

Rasp, same as you i didnt watch, listen of follow on sky and again we won again – i cany wait for 8.25 to see the whole game…

What a great result, come on you spuds 😉

peed off about the dippers result though 😦 Hey ho, who cares about them, we are back in 4th place 😛

  165. avenell says:

Hi rico.. How you doing gal?

Do I dock you a whole days pay or just half a day?.. 😉

  166. rico01 says:

    Neither ave, i pre-warned you 😉

I am so happy ave, a 4-0 beating of fat sam 😉

  167. avenell says:

Okay that’s most of your holiday used up then 😉

I still cannot bring myself to want the spuds to win.. if it was the last game of the season maybe. 😦

  168. rico01 says:

Think of it in a different way ave, that is what i have to do, its not a spud win, its a Villa loss 😉

  169. rico01 says:

ave – i forgot to ask, how are you old un 😉

  170. avenell says:

I was just trying to accept it as it comes.. take the positives out of it..
Villa will crash now we are chasing hard..
    I’ll settle for a draw.. 🙂
Football first is on now rico enjoy.. It’s the glimps into the future..

  171. avenell says:

I am well thanks .. had an Arsenal day today..

  172. peachesgooner says:

I’ve made the dinner so no-one can moan at me, gonna sit and watch Arshavin again 😉

  173. rico01 says:

Off to watch the boys 😉

catch you later or tomorrow all – stay safe 😉 😛

  174. avenell says:

Yea night rico.. or later.. 😉

I’m on wok duties tonite too peaches.. a mans work is never done..lol

  175. Rasputin says:

Just watched the 1st half on sky and have these observations…

AA is a master of the clever pass
Theo is scared of falling badly
Nik has worked hard and been instrumental in some good moves
Diouf should have hed a straight red
Alexander Song has played magnificently!!! I didn’t see one stray pass, his tackling was crisp and his distribution was positive….I am amazed and take back all the bad things I’ve said about him…I’m off to watch the second half.

  176. peachesgooner says:

He has some really great interplay with Denilson in the 2nd half rasp

  177. rico01 says:

Song Billabong Song – what a difference, are we finally begining to see what the boss has seen – 😉

    Theo – oh Theo 😛

    Nikky, oh Nikky – 😦 😉

  178. rico01 says:

why oh why – we break and Nik has just got passed the half way line, theo is crossing the ball – to who ??

    fffpppffffff 😦

  179. avenell says:

The way song played today.. was how he was playing in the reserves at the end of last season..
When he came into the first team everybody slated him.
In the end it wasn’t worth the effort defending him as no one listened and he was easy pickings. but I am pleased now that I saw something that most didn’t.

Not including london in that statement as he defended song too..

  180. rico01 says:

ave – just remember i was with you on that – on the other channel – but i am guilty of knocking him a few times this year 😦

Ave – my bestest blog friend, we would like to start a blog of my own and dont know how to – are you able to help me please? We hope to call our site

‘Sunny side up’ – but that may change

  181. rico01 says:

Blimey, according to the commentator, Almunia fisted someone 😦

    We missed that !!!! 😉

  182. rico01 says:

    Is Nikky B bad —————
    YES !!!!

    😉

  183. rico01 says:

Right, thats it, I come here of an evening, you all leave me alone to chat away by myself, another night of feeling underloved !! 😥

    TTFN 😦

  184. avenell says:

    You there rico??

  185. Rasputin says:

Ave – Song was nothing short of brilliant today, but he has been guilty of some woeful performances this season – its like something has ‘clicked’ and now it all works. I think it is inaccurate to say that he didn’t deserve criticism for his lacklustre efforts earlier in the season. He has improved immeasurably. He now needs to reproduce this kind of form consistently. Pederson’s dive was disgraceful and should not have been a yellow card, a red would be more appropriate.

  186. avenell says:

rasp.. I agree he deserved a lot of it.. what I was trying to say was it was difficult defending him when he was putting in such poor perfomances..

  187. Rasputin says:

I liked the way the crowd tried to lift Nik and I’m happy for Eboue. Personally I’d have preferred to see Vela take the penalty as he won it and Eboue already had his goal.

  188. rico01 says:

Yes ave, just about to go and stick my head in the oven 😉

Rasp – spot-on, he has been wieful, but there is just that ‘something’ about him, sometimes 😉

  189. rico01 says:

    oops =- woeful 😉

  190. avenell says:

Rico.. let me know what you want me to do if you start a blog..

    What is it about?

  191. rico01 says:

    CHICKENS :)P

  192. Rasputin says:

Good point ave. I think I’ve said before that it is down to the players to win back the respect and admiration of the fans by keeping their heads down, giving it 100% and putting in a performance (there’s a selection of footballing cliches 😉 ) On the other hand, it shows weakness of character in a supporter / blogger if they are not big enough to give credit where credit is due sinply because they have been scathing of a player in the past….after all, we only want to see what’s best for the Arsenal. I feel sorry for Arsene – he’s gonna have few selection haedaches when Cesc and Ade are available again!

  193. avenell says:

I can either tell you what to do or you can stick me down in admin and I can help within the blog..

first thing to do is register it..

  194. peachesgooner says:

    ……..and PLANTS 😆

Hi rico – did you have a nice day?

  195. Rasputin says:

Careful Rico, you don’t want to be associated with the wrong sorts on your blog – aren’t cockerels chickens? 😆

  196. rico01 says:

Rasp – You are spot-on, judge on the day is my motto…

Nik B makes it all so easy for me to be consistent though 😉

  197. avenell says:

Ras .. spot on mate you were big enough to say you critised song and he was good today and in a few other games..

I have been harsh on Bendtner, he was winning me around but it’s easy to get on his back today.. but I still like him..

saying you may have been wrong or too harsh gains my respect everytime.. 🙂

  198. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – I agree that Song looked like a different player today – I watched him a lot during the game and he was quicker than I’ve ever seen him. He played some very neat football too.

I loved watching Theo today, his movement on the ball is enthralling (London you can use that if you want ;)), he twists and turns just like all the invincibles did – love him, hope he stays fit

  199. peachesgooner says:

    We’re on MOTD now

  200. Rasputin says:

Thanks everyone….we’re all loved-up with Arsenal and each other 🙂 …..I am really excited about the rest of the season. It is great to see glimpses of the old Arsenal brilliance and unpredictabilty that has been in such short supply this season, at times we were irresistable today.

  201. Rasputin says:

I’m just going to see what MOTD has to say about us…..back in a mo.

  202. rico01 says:

    I keep posting but it

  203. rico01 says:

I keep posting but it goes !!

  204. avenell says:

The early goal helped it made blackburn attack and not park the dreaded bus when we get too much possesion..

  205. rico01 says:

    I keep post

  206. peachesgooner says:

    Where does it go rico?

  207. rico01 says:

    I think

  208. rico01 says:

    I think m

  209. peachesgooner says:

The only problem with watching it again on MOTD is the Nikki misses 😳

  210. peachesgooner says:

Eboue had to be really sharp to take that first goal

  211. rico01 says:

    ave, i have emailed you

  212. peachesgooner says:

ave – what did you want to tell me about the stream?

  213. avenell says:

peaches.. just thanks.. it was good you should be a sales lady for them..

I was a little scared in case I pressed the wrong button at first and cocked it up for you..

  214. rico01 says:

i am losing my posts, arrrgggg !!!

  215. Rasputin says:

It didn’t look pretty in pink for Nikki on MOTD I must say! The studio analysis wasn’t too bad. Apart from Niks misses, everyone played their part. Denilson was quietly efficient. It was a balanced team performance.

  216. Rasputin says:

Rico – are you really setting up your own blog?

  217. peachesgooner says:

They managed to say we looked like the arsenal of old so thats not bad for them. We have to maintain the pressure on Villa now so that it doesn’t go to waste.

  218. avenell says:

Rico is having some internet connection probs and apologises if she cannot answer anyone.. 🙂

    What a service I provide lol.. 😉

  219. peachesgooner says:

ave – once you’ve dowloaded the software its easy to buy a game.

  220. peachesgooner says:

I had that yesterday, when I wrote my long blurb about how I became a Garden Designer I lost it twice and then gave up. I’ll save it for a really boring day:lol:

  221. peachesgooner says:

I’ll save it for a really boring day 😆

  222. avenell says:

The part I didn’t understand was the download was where the game was and not within the site itself..

It’s worth £1.50 not to keep chasing crap streams around the net.. you have won me over. 🙂

  223. peachesgooner says:

    I do believe thats another three in a row 🙂 🙂 🙂

  224. avenell says:

When I do a long post I sometimes copy it then paste it then if things go belly .. you can always re paste.. 😉

I learned the hard way and I still forget sometimes. 😦

  225. Rasputin says:

Rico has cyber ‘Norman Collier disease’ – will only be understood by the over 40’s….

  226. avenell says:

“I’ll sing you a song the bucket of water song” 😉

    talking nips now 😳

  227. London says:

Ave I’ve got it. Talk tomorrow. Tired, good night all.

  228. avenell says:

Cheers mr London.. you have a good night!

  229. rico01 says:

Guys – not sure if this will post, i have to call BT back in the morning 😦

  230. peachesgooner says:

ave – I’m shattered and have to be up early in the morning for the singing one who leaves at 6.45, so night night ave ‘n all, catch up tmoro – MOTD and reading the sunday papers, life is good 🙂

  231. peachesgooner says:

Well done rasp you stumped me on the Lolium perenne 😆

  232. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Last one out first one in!!!!

Just waved the singing one off – I wish she wanted to be famous, shes carrying a guitar, a drum, a bag of assorted technical stuff and has a suitcase to drag along too. Bet Leona Lewis has someone to carry all her stuff!!!!!!!!!!

  233. peachesgooner says:

I don’t suppose overnight hat-tricks count do they?

  234. London says:

New Post press home. Give him an inch?

  235. rico01 says:

Morning all – peaches, you are bright and early this sunny morning – Spring is definately here, its just so different with the sun shining 😉

Routers, who would have them, eh 😉
