Diaby Still Fit!

It’s unbelievable Diaby is in the squad to play Fulham today, he isn’t back, he hasn’t been away.

The poor lad, he has had enough injuries to last a whole career and hopefully we can see him have a month or two injury free before Cesc gets back, to really see what sort of player he is.

I must confess I don’t know what to make of him, some days like against Roma and Man U he looks a world beater. Then some days we wish Song was playing he is that bad. (for you London). We are again comparing Diaby to PV4 again, there are some similarities but Patrick was more direct and a better DM when needed.

Onto today, Arsenal in 5th place in the Premiership take on Fulham in 8th.. That doesn’t sound right does it? Fulham are over achieving under the managment skills of Roy Hodgson and are not under any pressure of relegation. Hopefully they wont be playing like a team whose life depends on it like some of the lower teams and we can take advantage of that.

                                            Fulham Supporter

We need to keep the pressure on Villa they are only 6 points ahead and if we get 3 this afternoon it is going to be sqeaky bum time for them and they have never had this pressure before and hopefully there team spirit will be lowered by there midweek defeat in the UEFA cup.

The Spuds and Villa fielding weakened teams in the week has lowered the value of that cup even more now and we should be determined to get a Champions League place and not lower ourselves by stooping so low as to drop into it.

I think the team will be.

Sagna..Toure..Gallas.. Clichy.

Arshavin..Diaby.. Denilson.. Nasri.

Prediction 3-1 to the Rip Roaring Reds..

Hi attractive black haired woman in blue coat.. lol..

Yes, the land is too wet and will rip the grass up we have down and put mud all over the drive.. so no rush!! (that is always a mistake when people say that to me).. 😉

  2. avenell says:

“Cooo eeee peaches de thame”.. 🙂

  3. peachesgooner says:

Oh no my cover is blown!!!! and today I’ll be wearing……..

I’m not sure about Diaby either, he has amazing skills and I love watching him play but I’m not certain he brings enough all round ability to benefit the team. Sounds like my previous much loved and oft derided player Alex Hleb – for you rasp 😆

  4. avenell says:

Don’t forget to watch out for raifs dad.. in one of “THE” jackets today !

  5. peachesgooner says:

ave – the jacket is pretty impressive, I saw it last week.

  6. avenell says:

They deserve there own blog peaches.. lol

I’ve got to pop out for 5 mins down the shop on my bike (she’s nicked the car) to post a letter..
    back soon.. 😉

    So no hat tricks!!!

  7. peachesgooner says:

I’ve been spreading myself around and managed one on another channel 😆

  8. London says:

Peaches, no I didn’t say hello to her as I was just passing.

  9. peachesgooner says:

Next time you should stop and say hello. Had you met the people I was with before?

  10. London says:

No I have never met them. I was invited to the S&B by one half but I was always concerned as to whether I was really welcome by the other half and having been chased away yesterday my concerns have been realised. Hey ho

  11. peachesgooner says:

Are you going to the game today? Where do you sit?

  12. avenell says:

You could come down here and we could have an avenell road meet up in my local..

  13. avenell says:

    That didn’t work then..

This is the web cam for the beach from the pub.. there’s probably nutters surfing..

I can show you if we should ever get sunshine..lol..

  14. Hi guys/gals.

A serious point, there are a few other blogs out there who are now becoming VERY annoyed with the rantings of a certain blog spouting regular bullshine regarding the true financial aspect of our club.

We all know which pikey blog i am talking about, the one which one co-blogger regularly posts “f off back to japan wenger”!!

Well in light of the current interim results, has anybody pushed them to now tell us how rosy the finances are? and how much money wenger actually has/had?

And how bloody lucky we are to have such a manager to guide through this period of augmentation.

  15. raif says:

the thing with diaby and PV04 is that diaby might be a little more techinally gifted and is more of a attacking player. were as PV04 is more Defensive and physical then diaby. PV04 could take alot of kicks and knocks and keep comming at you like a bulldozer
diaby gets one kick and his out for 2 weeks.

attacking wise PV04 was more tacticly aware he new when to bomb forword when we broke into a counter attack. or new when to make a smart run into danger aeras.

Somthing we lack in todays team. its more pass our way forword then shoot in the box only. as our fast counter attacking football has gone now

Diaby has been very lucky playing for arsenal as reasmbles PV04. but let the comparaisons stop there as thats the closest his going to get to our previous captain marvel.

he is NOT a PV04 and never will.

  16. JonJon says:

  17. pv4 was a complete one off, there will seriously never been another vieria, anywhere in world football in our lifetimes.

  18. JonJon says:

raif, i agree theres only one PV

but dont u think the other nights performance from diaby against roma resembled a PV one???

he was excellent and although he doesnt do it enough, i feel if he stays fit and finds consistency, he will make just as much of an impact in games as PV did

  19. the best i have ever seen diaby play was against the spuds in the 2nd leg of the league the season we got to the final against chelski.

    he was unplayable that night.

  20. avenell says:

Hi raif.. talk in a bit..

Hi mr stringfellow.. I have mentioned the arsenal finances on here with jonjon the other day.

Why are we refinancing a loan if we have £93 million in the bank plus another years profits?

As for the blog you mention, we have an agreement and if anyone wants to discuss I’ll just pass them on to you.. http://legendaire.wordpress.com/

We get a few pop back and forth between the 2 and it makes life difficult.

  21. JonJon says:

diaby can be unplayable when he wants to be, he just never seems to do it enough, he has the potenetial to be a worldbeater, but sometimes he leaves me banging my head against a wall.

  22. Cool, i’m with you 😉

  23. avenell says:

Are you staying on avenell road for the game JJ and raif?
we will pick up a stream in a bit..

  24. raif says:

JonJ.. his performance was excellent. but i wouldnt call it a PV04 performance

  25. jonjon – he was good against roma, but imo not great.

think he holds on to the ball for too long at times and is a bit greedy.

if he could run with the ball and pass it quicker before he runs into trouble, he would be awesome.

  26. JonJon says:

the finances are a difficult subject. on the one hand we are refinacing a loan, and on the other we are announcing we have made profits of 20+ mil over 6 mnths.

we are making money, and plenty of it, we will survive the crunch, but that money is needed for other areas, so the team wont see it.

  27. raif says:

yeah ill be in for the game

  28. avenell says:

    Are you going today stringfellow?

someone said the trains are fucked if that’s the route you take..

  29. btw – we 93 in the bank, plus profits, i’d imagine it could simply be refinanced to maybe payback 75% of it on time, and then refinace the balance for 2 more years, in order to get the other flats sold.

you can NEVER spend ALL the money in the bank, you need to keep a contingecny amount.

    basic business banking principles.

  30. No i am not going… you?

  31. raif says:

YES thats another thing he almost holds onto the ball long as Song does. he needs to distribute quicker

  32. avenell says:

The old cash flow scenario.. avenell road buisness blog.
mid week we do gardening and rico is starting the cooking division.. 🙂

  33. JonJon says:

a PV he will never be, but he can make the same impact in games. if he gets his act together and finds consistency, he will make a great player in his own right. he’s more of an attack minded player, if we find the right formation and give him his own role, we’ll see products.

i agree SFH, he lacks intelligence sometimes, he frustrates the hell out of me, but when hes on song hes unplayable.

  34. avenell says:

nah mate 275 miles away! 😦

  35. i hope that “when he is on Song” is a freudian slip 🙂

  36. avenell says:

How do you do that with your avatar stringfellow it keeps changing?

  37. Got to keep changing it until i find one that i really like.

  38. London says:

Yes I am going to the game in fact I am just about to leave. I will check in later.

  39. JonJon says:

also, i commented yesterday about diaby playing,

friday morning he was annouced as unfit, friday afternoon he was in the squad,

now, the way i see it, is that if a player is 50/50 the day before a game, he shouldnt play. and we wonder why certain players are always injured, they are never given time to fully recover

  40. avenell says:

I mean it alternates every time you post.. I’ve never seen that!

  41. avenell says:

    have fun mr london!!

  42. ave, go to my dashboard, settings and then on the top right of the page will say “blog picture”

upload your avenell road pic to it or any other you want.

this will be like the pint glass on “that” blog or like the wenger cartoon on my blog.

it will look better than that blue W wordpress jobbie.

  43. not sure about that alternating thing ave.

  44. raif says:

oh crap.. i just got a call from my Cousin asking me if i wanted to go to the game, as one of his mates aint going so his got a free ticket. but i cant as im in with the little one today while the missus does some baby shoping.

  45. JonJon says:

thats a dilema raif, phone the missus, tell her to get back home now lol 😉

  46. peachesgooner says:

What a lot of brownie points you’ll get raif 🙂

  47. avenell says:

Raif what about your old gal or er indoors old gal?.. they love a bit of babysitting

  48. leave the baby with the neighbour.. get down the emirates.

  49. raif says:

lol… i phoned her to ask her if there was a chance she will be home sooner rather then later.

ofcourse the answer was no Chance lol.. i dont really mind as its really last minute stuff. i just wished i was told last night then i could have worked somthing out..

i told him to still ask somone else if i do get any chance of going to the game ill call him as i know they close the gates at 4pm so ill be there to see the 2nd half at least..

but i honestly dont mind if i dont go. im happy watching the game at home with the little one next to me

  50. avenell says:

The empty seats will be all your fault raif!!

and we need you buying pies to help the profit if we don’t make the champions league.

  51. avenell says:

Your a creep raif, are you after a little something this evening? 😉

  52. JonJon says:

good man raif good man. theres more important things than football sometimes. shit does that statement not make me a real fan. 😉

  53. raif says:

hahahah no no not at all Ave 😛

all i have to do it hint and ill get that sorter stuff. 😉

  54. haha, i see you sorted it ave 😉

not got the whole clock in, you will need a smaller jpeg or use paint to skew it smaller.

  55. peachesgooner says:

Thats cos you’re such a sweetie raif 😆

R u gonna wear the jacket anyway?

  56. raif says:

No jacket today Peach. i didnt even have the jacket on for Roma either. im testing to see if its a Bad Oman or not.

  57. avenell says:

trouble is mr stringfellow I cannot see it because I use BT internet for this site.
I have tried firefox, but it sends it all wrong.

I use firefox for other searches now though so I will have a look.. 😦

  58. its showing in my firefox browser, but looks a bit like a smile face, as you captured the clock hands.

maybe use another little jpeg altogether that goes with the whole arsenal theme.

  59. raif says:

ohh i see the clock now in the browser ave

  60. avenell on firefox says:

Oh yea, I will try again .. every thing starts with a o.. like oRICO.. or oJONJON . it’s wierd.

  61. ave, when you go in via firefox, all you need to do is log into your wordpress account and then come into your blog and it will pick up your normal username and gravatar.

  62. avenell says:

    Testing 123 lol..

there are still little circles in front of all the names in the widget bars though.

  63. London says:

can you find out if that ticket is still available?

  64. JonJon says:

    cahills just quality

  65. raif says:

i think its going to one of my uncles. if its a no go for them then i might still go to the game before they close the gates at 4pm

  66. London says:

Thanks raif, hope you make it.

  67. avenell says:

In the old days they used to open the gates just after half time and you could walk in for nothing..

  68. peachesgooner says:

London – I thought you’d gone? You must be part of the blackberry brigade!!!

Anyways I’m off now chaps – if rico pops in say hi from me – enjoy the game all, catch up later 3-0 😆

  69. avenell says:

have a nice one peaches! catch you laters.

  70. JonJon says:

    arshavin rvp hattricks

  71. avenell says:

I’ve just noticed on the citizen smith picture in the post .. it looks like he is punching londons avatar.. 🙂

  72. avenell says:

6-0 jj .. I thought we stopped all that irony stuff. 😉

  73. JonJon says:

i meant 6-0 to fulham and own goals from ash and robin 😉

  74. avenell says:

You should get good odds down at the bookies for that mate.. just before you get sectioned. 🙂

  75. JonJon says:

the odds would be massive on that mate, i’ll be in the same ward as uri gellar lol

  76. Arshavin will score today, really fancy a masterclass from the russki today.

Should also be 90 mins fit today.

  77. JonJon says:

    so will rvp.

  78. JonJon says:

fuckit nasri hatrick too 9 fucking 0 plyground stuff today, roy of the rovers

  79. avenell says:

I’m pasting the possible link for the game on so I can find it! 🙂

  80. 2-0 HT
    4-0 FT

    Arshavin (2), Diaby, RvP.

  81. JonJon says:

you know, every week i wake up knowing we will be struggle, this morning i woke up and i feel a proper thumping coming up. its in the water, its going to happen, believe in me, trust in me. lol

  82. avenell says:

Vela is starting ahead of bendtner.. I’ve come over all moist. 😉

  83. as a striker?

or will it be the same formation as tuesday with nsri central and vela playing wide left

  84. avenell says:

We are back to playing wengerball.. he must read our hahaha blog.. 🙂

  85. avenell says:

A bit of both I suppose, it’s the line ups on SSN.

  86. nasri has to play centrally again, he was toooooo good in that role.

  87. avenell says:

Your right there with that one. The transformation is unreal. It’s a shame mr wenger didn’t try it earlier..

  88. maybe he did not have the cover, did not have arshavin, did not feel comfortable with vela, had adebayor fit etc etc

whatever thae answer, lets see how we do with it today…

    we haven’t won yet 😉

  89. avenell says:

Everton are only 1 point behind us now, we have to win..

  90. JonJon says:

yes at last, thats the attacking team we should be playing, mr wenger reads the blog ave, definately. lol

  91. JonJon says:

    vela hatrick too. 12 nil

  92. avenell says:

    cheers stringfellow!!!

  93. raif says:

we look abit shit in my view

  94. JonJon says:

    shhhhoooooooooooooooooootttttttttttt, ffs

  95. avenell says:

Fulham are not 8th for nothing by the look of this!

Nasri has transformed himself as hleb.. 😦

  96. JonJon says:

fulham should be ahead, our midfield is nowhere, denilsons been shit so far

  97. JonJon says:

  98. JonJon says:

    oh dear oh dear

  99. denilson looks knackered to me, when was the last game he did not play?

  100. JonJon says:

hes played all but 1 game this season i think, murphy and demsey are running rings round him, diabys not much better, theres gaping holes in our midfield and fulham are loving it

  101. funnily enough, this is probably just the kind of game song would be better in, to snuff out the opposotion midfield and let the ball players in arshavin, nasri and rvp play.

  102. avenell says:

What are you watching on jj?

  103. raif says:

this is shit… another draw is comming

  104. avenell says:

Get the jacket out of it’s vault raif..:)

  105. avenell says:

Your mate is coming on JJ.. lol.

  106. JonJon says:

    like watching paint dry

  107. JonJon says:

luckypool losing chelsea drawing come on score ffs

  108. JonJon says:

    we are shit

  109. JonJon says:

  110. JonJon says:

whats the excuse this time, fulham didnt park the bus did they????

  111. raif says:

    embaressement,, what a fucking embaressement..

  112. JonJon says:

    bah humbug

  113. JonJon says:

1 point from fulham this season, fucking woeful

  114. avenell says:

That was the team that the fans would have picked, they cannot blame wenger and they can’t blame song!!

  115. raif says:

gutless, spineless, and down right fucking shit. this is the worst arsenal team in History..

eat shit and fucking die you Twunts

  116. JonJon says:

the team is just shit, the damage is done, if man utd win their game in hand we are 19points off the pace already. if villa win we are 8points off the CLplaces and its only fucking february. title aspirations my arse, this team was doomed from the first whistle of the season.

forget the PL, we are fighting with everton for 5th and theyve had worse injuries than us all season.
the facup and CL is what we are going for, we have turned into liverpool.

  117. avenell says:

The worst bit was the midfield, no bite whatsoever.
diaby was not PV4 today and denilson was crap.
What happened to tight marking? we gave them all day on the ball.

  118. avenell says:

Oh and RvP is world class?

  119. raif says:

no even worse JonJ. we have turnd into Raneri’s Chelsea.

  120. raif says:

  121. avenell says:

We was on for a record day on avenell road, wenger has fucked up our blog!! 😦

  122. JonJon says:

murphy is an over the hill liverpool has been and he fucked all over our midfield just like he did at the cottage. our midfield is shite and if denilson and diaby can only get motivated for CL games then they can fuck off back to whatever little team they came from.

i was watching the forum last night and tom watt pissed me off big time. he said when it came to managers deveolping unknown players then he backs wenger 100%.

im sorry tom but weve had some fucking donkeys at this club, stepanovs, senderos, boa morte, wreh, i could go on and on so wengers devolpment skill is 50/50,

just cos denilson and song etc play for wenger doesnt mean they wont end up like the next mendez and venazza.

  123. JonJon says:

every player out there was shite, not one player stood up to be counted and it shows how bad the times are when we are resorted to throwing on bendtner and eboue, the two shitest players this season, to win us the game. 1 POINT FROM FULHAM ALL SEASON. AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

  124. Its not good, but it aint all over.

    Keep the faith lads.

We ain letting em in, and are just missing a spark up front, eduardo is badly needed.

  125. raif says:

my faith has been sucked away by the bore draw brigade

  126. JonJon says:

we need more than eduardo, we need a new cental midfield. by the time cesc and rosicky come back we will be too far behind to catch up. cesc was shite before he was injured and rosicky hasnt walked in over a year never mind kicked a ball, we are screwed.

europa cup for us next season.

rebuild this shite wenger cos thats exactly what it is, shite.

we couldnt even get the ball off them in the last 5mins for crying out loud, the played olay football against us on our own patch. fucking disgrace

  127. ok raif, i understand.

every thing that happens on a postive not this season is a bonus now to me, i have written it off.

this team is either not good enough or needs time to gel and grow.

we cannot afford to buy in torres, berbatov, anelka et al

YET… but in time, we will.

and if this property slump had not happened , it would have been this summer.

    cannot blame leboss for that.

i will keep the faith and support the club through this period of augementation.

because i can clearly see the vision.

  128. the new stadium cost was always going to cause us pain on the transfer front, wenger is trying to wing it ( he has no other choice ) with youth as they cost f all.

  129. if we had spent 50m in the summer, like a liverpool or a chelski or even a spuds, i would be MEGA pisshed off.

as it stands, i can see how transfer funds are tied, and i can see why we are not really competing, it does not make it easier to swallow, but we got to look ahead.

  130. JonJon says:

    wengers got to rebuild SFH,

the players are not good enough. theyve proved that this season and some of them have been here years, theyve had enough time to gel,

we dont have the money, so we make the money by selling the deadwood, lets bring some fresh faces in and start again cos this squad is shit

  131. raif says:

the presure is adding up now. and the players we expext to stand and be counted are no were to be seen.

fucking joke. Wenger is feeling the preasure now.

  132. JJ, Kenny Samson, has sat in the Setanta studio and watched the whole game and said we were not that bad, it was a open game, we made some chances, but we could not finish.

Lets keep some prespective here, Arshavin needs time to gel, in patches he is good. RvP needs a proper striker alongside him, eduardo.

Things will get better. I’m confident.

  133. still unbeaten in 15

    still not letting goals in.

  134. raif says:

Whoopy Doooo… that makes me feel much better

  135. avenell says:

4x 0-0 is 8 points lost.. The difference would be amazing if we had them..

  136. raif, it is not supposed to make you feel better.

its adding to a lacking perspective.

the times of winning things without spending big money are gone, a brian clough won’t come along again anytime soon.

we have some money to spend on players, but the FACTS show we have had the budget of a bottom half of the premiership team.

Wigan have spent more than us!!

Is this wengers fault? Who’s fault is it?

Is it anybodys fault? or a consequence of moving to a bigger house, when the market goes tits up?

  137. avenell says:

RvP wants the club to show ambition.. dropping the tosser until he learns where the goal is would be a start.. c’mon dudu!

  138. raif says:

i know. i just read ur last comment asif Wenger was telling it in a post match Interview as thats somthing he would say… lol

as for the Comment after,, i have no idea whos at fualt. i wished i did then i can feel better on who to blame. is it the board ebing tight?? is it wenger and his stuburness..

one thing i do know the players must take a big part of that blame.. they have let the fans down and Wenger who has put his faith in them,

  139. In the good old days, 38,500 capacity days.. if wrighty missed a sitter, the crowd would go OOOOOOOO

    now they go BOOOOOOOOOOO

hmmmm, i suppose that really helps the current incumbent to avoid anxiousness the next time he has a sitter.

think about it guys, we don’t help this young side one bit.

  140. raif says:

i pointed this out few months ago. the emirates has turnd into Wembaly and the england fans. they get boooo’d every time they come up with a shit result…

  141. Rasputin says:

There are too many apologists for our recent performances. I have calmed down now so am choosing my words in a considered fashion! We need to keep it simple, practise shooting and get stuck in more on a physical level….. a very simplistic view but exactly what we have been lacking.

There must be something we do in training that makes our players overcomplicate the game. I think AW needs to recognise that Arsenal training routines are a million miles away from the harsh reality of playing the likes of Fulham and Sunderland.

  142. raif says:

tho i understand with england they are top class players getting a bucket load…

our boys are not even over 25.. so that must kill there confedance

  143. kelsey says:

    nothing to say at all,goodbye

  144. Rasputin says:

Was that you saying goodbye to the CL next season kelsey? 😉

  145. avenell says:

Hi ras .. that’s sort of what I said, diaby and denilson gave them too much space and RvP needs to take some of the responsibility.

also nasri held onto the ball far too long, but it was his first start in that position for us..

  146. it’s a rut we are in, a lack of scoring goals rut.

it needs once bleeding game where we bang in an early one and the stuff 4 or 5 past the opposition to get us out of it.

if we were losing 2-0 every week i could understand, but we are solid at the back, just lacking a little up front.

and considering th eplayers missing, you can understand to some extent.

  147. JonJon says:

the tactics we seem to play is like the other team isnt there or something. what wenger sees in traing is different to what we see on the pitch in a proper game.

thats the key phrase, proper game.

it doesnt matter what the players can do in training, if they cant cut it on the pitch then they should be dropped or sold or whatever.

i can do over 500 kickups in my garden but that doesnt mean im ronaldinho does it???

  148. avenell says:

Can you do the trick where the ball ends up on the back of neck? jonjoniho.. 😉

  149. Rasputin says:

Hi avenell, I’m sorry I hadn’t read the earlier posts….I was really p’d off – especially listening to the comments on the radio that were painfully accurate about our inadequacies. I’m off to drop my son into town….I’ll post again later.

  150. avenell says:

I was just pleased you saw the same thing ras.. no probs mate!!

  151. Rasputin says:

Stringfellow, I think you are being too generous towards these players…….in any walk of life you get panned if you’re not doing your job. Why do we think that footballers have such delicate egoes that we have to lie and tell them they’re great when they’re patently not? That’s it I’m off now

  152. i’m looking forward to the over reaction in the press/blogs over the next 48 hours.

then i am looking forward to a quarter final against chelski in the champ league when the press/blogs start talking us up again.

one big merry go round of inconsistent viewpoints.

  153. JonJon says:

its ok supporting the team SFH, i admire you for that, but sometimes we need to take a grasp of the reality of now and lose our temper every now and then

its ok saying the futures bright and the vision is there, but surely the present is more important. the present means much more to me, i dont buy into the fact its ok to be shit team now because by the time im 90 we will be dominant again. its just lack of ambition,

no desrespect, im not saying you are unambitious, but i dont think its acceptable for a team who says they are genuine title contenders to take 1 point from fulham, 2 points from sunderland, etc, etc, and we are 19points of the leaders by february.

    its a pisstake.

  154. avenell says:

Apart from alumnia, every player is a fans favourite who started today. no bendtner, no eboue, no song, arsene picked the team that we have been screaming for.. read the blogs before KO like wrighty’s.

like ras says the players let the club down today…

  155. jj, i have a long life ahead of me.

if you are asking me, lets bankrupt this club, f off to the financial apsect, lets buy out of trouble.

lets win the league and champs league this season.

and then end up like leeds for the next 30 years, i say no thank you.

this club is my club for bloody life, not fo rthis season or last season.

i can very clearly see where we are going, if others can’t so be it.

i want a club to support for life, i am no fairweather fan.

  156. it was made VERY clear by wenger that the move to a bigger stadium would impact transfer to some extent, at that time the financial markets were buyoant, now look at them.

its a period of transition. the sooner you understand this, the sooner all the rage will leave you.

  157. JonJon says:

no mate i aint saying lets buy like manutd etc…

i like the way the club is run, i dont want a suger daddy and i dont want to change that

i understand the transitional period better than most, and i understand the emirates was a long term plan.

what annoys me is that we have now been in transition for the past 4 years and we have gone backwards this season, its like that old paula abdul song, 1 step forward and two steps back.

these players are not good enough, this season has brought that to our attention and most of them have been here for years, they are not new. eboue and bendtner and ade to be precise.

we sell these shite and we buy some players who can do it.

wenger can find great talent for a decent price, he found edu petit overmars henry nasri etc etc, he doesnt need to spend 50mil every year and he doesnt need to rely on youth either.

  158. avenell says:

The thing is we need a balance. we still need to be sucessful during the rebuilding period.
The move to a bigger stadium to generate more income will be wasted if we drop down the table any more.

we could either drop down the league and a foreign invester will have to come in and put some money up for quality players or we could buy the players now and risk going into more debt so a foreign invester will have to bail us out.

Or hopefully we can hang in there until next season when our debts are clear and the other big 3 go tits.

  159. avenell says:

jonjon .. this is now the best day we have ever had on here.. we have equalled the number of hits in one day that we had when we had that problem a month ago.
So thanks for helping to keep the site running.. 🙂

and thanks to everyone else who posts on here!

  160. JonJon says:

thats what i was expecting ave, i expected us to hang in there until we was able to compete again, but it looks like we are falling away, transition has become stagnation

  161. its been a gamble, spend bugger all and stay competitive.

last season we lost the league by 4 measly points and got robbed out of the champs league semis, which we derserved.

    it wll all click soon.

  162. Rasputin says:

SFH, I’m just wondering what it would take to make you criticise the club/manager/players? You seem to support everything and condemn nothing….I can’t personally see it as such a perfect model even taking into account all the financial restrictions.

  163. JonJon says:

last season we were unlucky, injuries to rosicky and dudu lost us the title.

but we have a different midfield this season, we lost too key players who were vital to the way we played.

if we’d of kept flam and pleb and added nasri, we would be up there again this season. prob would have won it imo

  164. avenell says:

How do you keep a dick who won’t sign and another who threatened to buy out his contract though?

  165. Rasputin says:

I think we should be able to get more out of these players. They’re not rubbish, but they’re not performing. I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, but the problems we have are plain to see and they don’t appear to be effectively addressed in training. We currently have a very good defence, led by Gallas who has been immense. We do not have leadership further up the pitch…..oh how I miss Vieira. We need to start games with more urgency, not just take the pitch believing our fabulous football will triumph!

  166. JonJon says:

by showing ambition and not telling them they will have to wait 5years to win a trophy

ive said before flamini should of been offered a contract after the 2006 season, hleb left because he knew he wasnt getting anywhere wih us

  167. JonJon says:

    gallas has been fucking awesome

  168. Rasputin says:

    I agree JonJon

  169. kelsey says:

If we wouldn’t have been top a year ago,it wouldn’t be so bad.We have lost Flamini,Hleb and a bit part Gilberto.RVP has played more this season than at this time last season.Eddie was only coming to the fore when he got injured. So why are we narly 20 points behind Man U, Hleb and flamini hardly scored, and our main cog has got injured and the goals have tried up.We are reliant so much on Cesc the intelligence of our team.We just don’t have the quality of players to go on a winning run,in fact I think we will lose 5th to Everton, have no chance in EP and may get a run the the FA Cup.Can you imagine confidence must be at an all time low,and I don;t think AW can do anything about it anymore. The expectancy of so man players Like Denilson, diaby,Nasri,Bedtnr, vela and even Walcott, are that they are actually better than they are performing. We are willing a team on that just isn’t good enough.

  170. avenell says:

But hleb and famini have to take some of that resposibility on, they are on the field the supporters are not.
I reckon we treated flamini badly but hleb was shit for 2 years we stood by him, he never stood by the club.
like I said earlier it’s okay RvP giving it large about our ambitions but he is a part of that.
And we have stood by him during his injuries, the worst one of which he got playing for his country.

  171. Rasputin says:

That may be true kelsey, but I think we are also tactically naive sometimes particularly when it comes to playing the ‘park the bus’ sides.

  172. avenell says:

Agree on gallas, I don’t like what he did as captain but recently he has been the dogs..

hi kelsey.. you chilled out a bit more yet?

  173. JonJon says:

thats the way i see it london

wenger thinks denilson song and bendtner are actually good enough to make our team, but if they are that good then why havent our reserves or for that matter our youth team won any trophies in their divisions for 7/8years???

our young players are overhyped, and when our big game players dont put in a shift, like robin and nasri today for example, we are made to look a very average team indeed.

the truth is, gallas robin and nasri have held this team together, but its only a matter of time before the bad games kick in for them and the rest of our team just dont have it in them to pull us through.

as soon as gallas has a bad game we will lose.

  174. peachesgooner says:

I’m so angry I don’t think I should open the bottle of red yet. What rubbish what that!!!!!!!

Nobody f*****g shoots!!!!! Why don’t they shoot, what are they afraid of? They’re footballers – surely they want to score goals.

  175. JonJon says:

fulham didnt park the bus today and we still couldnt score.

they outplayed us most of the game. it was terrible

  176. JonJon says:

i dont know peaches, i think its something they do to them in training, when nasri first came to the club he was shooting from all over, now he pisses about like the rest of them.

im taking a wild guess that the same will happen with arshavin, he likes to shoot, but in time i see that pat of his game dissapearing

  177. peachesgooner says:

Arshavin should have come off after 60mins he was punch-drunk, he was falling over, completely mis-timing his passes. Its pathetic that Arsene left him on. He definitely won’t be able to play on tuesday now and thats a bad move

  178. JonJon says:

agree peaches arsh was fucked after an hr, but he left him on im guessing cos we needed to score, replacing arsh with eboue would be seen as negative when we needed a goal. it just shows how thin our squad is at the mo

a few injuries and we cant cope one bit

  179. kelsey says:

    evening everyone,

I just can’t believe the teams we have dropped points to this season. All AW’s teams play the same way,but we don’t have the invinsible side anymore, therefore the overall skill factor is missing and more and more teams now know how to outplay us.The results speak for themselves.

  180. peachesgooner says:

Every time Fulham broke they drove forward – it was amazing, Fulham doing that at the Emirates!!!! Good thing they couldn’t score either cos we’d have lost by a huge margin.

  181. JonJon says:

ave, we stood by rvp with the rape thing too, he owes us at least 4 big seasons i reckon

  182. peachesgooner says:

Shall I open the wine now I’ve had a rant? Not very lady-like I know but I’m seething.

  183. kelsey says:

I said that the other day about AA.he isn’t even half fit yet and no doubt he is a good player, but this introduction into the team now,by AW is if he had a magic wand and AA will be our saviour every game from now.Things don;t happen lke that.

  184. peachesgooner says:

hello kelsey, how are you? Were you playing bowls yesterday – how did it go?

  185. JonJon says:

they couldnt score because gallas was at the back.

murphy is an over the hill midfielder and he made our superkids look like amatuers, and fulham are a mediocre side that get trounced by the other top 6 sides, weve taken one point from them this season and been outplayed twice

im no way happy about that result, and im not happy about the team.

  186. peachesgooner says:

You have to worry about the mental state of some of our players – whats ridiculous is that when Nikki came on he changed the game and so did Eboue.

  187. JonJon says:

whats ridiculous is that we were relying on eboue and nikki to change the game for us.

  188. JonJon says:

the two worst performers of this season are brought on to try and win a game at home against fulham.

    what a fucking joke

  189. peachesgooner says:

JonJon – Blimey Gallas was fantastic today – hes one cool dude!!! He didn’t let anything bother him – anyone came towards him he just sheperded (? ras) them away.

  190. avenell says:

Eboue needs a few starts at right back, he looked more effective than sagna has done for ages.

hi peaches. did you have your pre match drinkie at the you know where?

  191. Rasputin says:

    h after the p peaches 😉

  192. peachesgooner says:

Diaby and Denilson were not right for the mid-field today – we had no possession or control in the middle. Their mid was far superior and mopped up everything and had control.

Maybe song would have been better – we had plenty of creative players on the pitch and still didn’t score.

  193. JonJon says:

gallas has been the only reason why we have kept a clean sheet recently peaches, apart from that game against roma, our midfield has been dire, and gallas has been top top top top class and kolo has found abit of form because of it, just like he did with sol.

when gallas has a bad game we will conceed, cos that midfield cant control a game if the opposition stood still for 90mins

  194. JonJon says:

ave, i thought that myself, sagna has been woeful for the majority of this season so when eboue came on for him i didnt mind, and to be fair eboue did ok

  195. JonJon says:

i dont think song would have been any better, song gives away the ball too much so we would still be under pressure.

  196. peachesgooner says:

    thanks rasp for the spelling

ave – I wish I had gone for a drink before the game but I ran out of time.

  197. i take all your points ladies and gents.

i have made mine clear on this situation with a new post on my blog.

have a read, digest it and if you fancy it, report your feedback back here on avenell rd.

  198. peachesgooner says:

JonJon – we gave the ball away so much anyway that song could have added some stability 😆

  199. avenell says:

No worries stringfellow. they are just opinions and as long as we respect one another no problem at all.
I’ll be over for a read soon..

Get the bottle opener out then peaches you deserve a drink!

  200. peachesgooner says:

Its ok, I havn’t gone mad – half a glass of red 🙂

  201. Rasputin says:

    What’s SFH’s blog called?

I texted a good friend of mine during the game and suggested putting EE on for Sagna a few minutes before it happened. I’m not saying that to make myself look smart but to show that although I can’t stand his playacting, I’m prepared to give him the benefit when he plays as he did today and against Roma. I don’t care how we do it as long as we win something please god………

  202. peachesgooner says:

……and now I’ve taken off my boots aaahhhhhh

  203. rapsutin

or click my name in blue, it will link directly.

  204. click my name rasputin, it will link to my blog directly.

  205. Rasputin says:

    Thanks SFH

  206. avenell says:

click on his name or legendaire in the widget at the top..

    I can smell cheese.. 😉

  207. Sagna was woeful with his crossing today, as he has been all season. This gets overlooked plenty.

He is a great defender though.

  208. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – he did a good job for us when he came on he drives the play forward but he did leave a big gap behind him. Toure covered so it wasn’t a problem.

  209. Agreed, ave.

In anger and frustration we can sometimes appear offensive to others, not purposely or malicously.

It’s what being a footbal fan is all about.

    Living the highs and lows.

  210. peachesgooner says:

ave – is that comment directed at the lady that just took her boots off? Cad-like behaviour, yellow card for you 😉

  211. Rasputin says:

A more aggressive stance than I had expected on your blog SFH!

  212. LOL, cad-like behaviour

    post of the day

  213. Rasputin, its the way i see it, its not meant to be aggressive, its is meant to provoke thought.

  214. Rasputin says:

Its not your opinions – they’re fine, its the name calling?

  215. It’s far too easy and lazy to moan and moan, but once you look at all the facts in the cold light of day.. you can become more tolerant of what is going on.

I used to go mad when we drew or lost to clubs like morwich, 15 years ago…. we had not excuses then.

We do now, the stadium has impeded us, like or not.

  216. It’s far too easy and lazy to moan and moan, but once you look at all the facts in the cold light of day.. you can become more tolerant of what is going on.

I used to go mad when we drew or lost to clubs like morwich, 15 years ago…. we had not excuses then.

We do now, the stadium has impeded us, like it or not.

  217. avenell says:

It’s difficult to put your views over in words sometimes, you just want everyone else to see what is going on in your own head.
I have gone over the top sometimes and “said” things that was out of order.
But the reason we all do this is for the love of arsenal football club and the fact we feel so passionatly about it. no matter what side of the sack/keep wenger fence we sit on lol..

  218. Neuvo Goons exist, i don’t see any on this blog, for sure.

But have a read around and you will note them in plenty of numbers.

They have only ever known one Arsenal manager, george graham is an unknow to them etc.

  219. apologies in advance for al my typos, guys/gals.

  220. avenell says:

Not about the cheesey feet though stringfellow.. i’m on a yellow.. 🙂

  221. peachesgooner says:

Read your post SFH – I’ve never been one to ask for Arsenes head or whinge on about no silverware but I do expect to be served up a certain standard of football and I’m afraid however rosey the future may look we are playing rubbish football at the moment.

And I’m paying to go to watch it – thats what p****s me off.

  222. Rasputin says:

I’m off if this is going to be a blog owners love-in 😉

  223. peaches – stick with it, the injuries have just compounded matters dramatically this season.

we have all the ingrediants, we have the master chef to cook em up, we have a state of the art kitchen to cook em in, we have a fully paid up guest list.

we just need to be patient, a good meal is never served in the time it takes to serve a big mac 😉

  224. off to eat my chinese, will be back later troops.

  225. avenell says:

So how many goals are we going to score against WBA?

If that’s a 0-0 there is going to be some unrest tuesday night..

  226. peachesgooner says:

This group of players are talented – I have no doubt about it – but they are confused.

What was Diabys role today? Who else watched the game – can you tell me?

  227. Rasputin says:

Why am I suffering from food poisoning then SH?

  228. peachesgooner says:

Have we solved the problem of who is going to play alongside cesc when he returns?

  229. avenell says:

    Yep Alonso.. 🙂

  230. peachesgooner says:

Did you read that Heston Blumental has had to close his restaurant cos lots of diners were taken ill. He reckons it’ll cost him about £80,000.

You need to book 3 months in advance – imagine waiting all that time and then getting sick!!!

  231. peachesgooner says:

Ave – alonso doesn’t play for us and we arn’t gonna get him cos we arn’t gonna spend any money. Anyone else?

  232. Rasputin says:

Are you comparing Arsene to Heston Peaches? 😉

  233. avenell says:

I think we will get him in the summer though, if not someone very much like him.. The board will have to buy, they won’t be liking what they are seeing.
and it’s there money going down the drain.

  234. peachesgooner says:

One goal scored in the premiership – thats all i’ve seen this year!!!!!!

Its just not good enough. This group of players are not getting it – I don’t know why – but I’m shoving money at the club and I’ve only seen us score one goal at home in the premiership since the start of january.

    I’m very cross

  235. Rasputin says:

We are not an attractive prospect to top class players at the moment and will be less enticing if we don’t get into the CL. Quite a few ‘average’ players turned us down when we showed an interest in them last summer. Maybe if we sell Ade for big bucks we will buy an established talent. I’d love to see Alonso play for us but I don’t think its likely.

  236. avenell says:

I could reverse it and say that cesc will be playing alongside alonso at barca .. but I’m on a yellow so forget you have read this .. 😦

  237. peachesgooner says:

Actually rasp thats quite a good analogy isn’t it?

Are we all suffering from some kind of sickness from watching this team do not enough to get to 4th spot?

  238. peachesgooner says:

How can Arsene and the board feed us this line that its ok not to play in the champions league?

Quite apart from the financial reason – the team actaully play arsenal football in the champs lge, I’ve always loved champs lge footie and we’ll really miss it!!!!

  239. peachesgooner says:

    Everyone gone to eat dinner?

  240. peachesgooner says:

    OOOOHHHHHHHH 2nd hat-trick of the day 😆

  241. avenell says:

Stop right there peaches!! 🙂 where is jj and raif?

  242. peachesgooner says:

SFH – do you really believe that we as supporters of Arsenal should be deprived of the occasional goal scored in front of us at home.

This is football, in my book, we have to either play attractive entertaining football or score goals.

Doing neither is completely counter-productive in my opinion.

  243. avenell says:

If wenger was the chef.. he has been serving five star meals on a fish and chip budget.
that is the problem we have been spoilt in the last 13 years we expect sirloin and when we get mince, we all moan.

  244. avenell says:

I hope rico doesn’t read that.. that will be another yellow.. lol

  245. peachesgooner says:

Thats not entirely true ave cos hes only been on the fish and chip budget for three years.

  246. peachesgooner says:

We are allowing teams too much time to get behind the ball – we have possession and then we wait, the seconds tick by while the opposition crowd the space!!!!

Today Fulham broke at speed, they ran into spaces, they passed the ball as they went, they could have scored a hatfull!!!! Teams should not be doing that gainst us. They toyed with us it was embarrassing.

  247. avenell says:

Wenger has only really spent money that he has made from sales before this last 3 years though.
Anelka you could argue that he bought the training ground out of that sale..
Petit/overmars generated £30 mill. We made a profit on henry and vieira.
He just hasn’t been bobbing and weaving as much in the transfer game.

  248. avenell says:

I noticed diaby done that today.. he legged it forwards then had no options so he checked and went sideways..

  249. peachesgooner says:

Every time diaby or denilson have the ball there should be a winger ready to receive – they did it a few times today but not all the time and surely its a mainstay of Wengerball, pushing the ball forward all the time.

I’m disgusted, even after a glass and a half I’m still disgusted.

  250. avenell says:

Keep going peaches.. lol.. obviously no peachestaxi’s tonight though.. 🙂

  251. peaches – in response to your 854pm post.

I could not agree more, surely you did not expect me not to agree?

what you say is 100% correct, and i am also 100% that the players and the manager are not scoring goals on purpose.

for whatever reason, its just not happening for us right now… but it will.

it needs one early goal, maybe against WBA and we will find out scoring boots again.

then we will all be on here giving it 10 like after the cardiff and roma games.

consistency in the way we support OUR club is key in my book.

    i never change my tune.

  252. peachesgooner says:

Thank goodness the boychik has gone out and won’t need a lift and the littlepeaches princess no 1 has had a row with her friends and isn’t going out.

She cooked some supper for us while I was ranting so i can’t complain – nice huh 😉

What you eating ave and nita?

  253. Rasputin says:

Right, I’m back from cooking some delicious spicey chicken goujons for myself and the boys – so now I’m up for some spicey debate!

  254. avenell says:

Just a quick meal tonight peaches .. I’ll treat nita to something tomorrow.. as it’s her birthday. 🙂

  255. Rasputin says:

Are you going to cook something ave or take her out for a meal?

  256. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – are you gonna have a read or would you like a resume

  257. avenell says:

It’s school day monday, so I’ll cook or I may bottle out and do the takeaway.

  258. peachesgooner says:

Nita – Happy Birthday, hope he does something nice for you 😆

  259. from what little i saw on the streams, the ex spud, davies, was very good, he made one run from midfield where he evaded a couple of tackles and even got in a pass to johnson on the edge of the box.

    diaby could learn from that.

  260. diaby has been another unlucky sod with injuries, he needs 12 games on the trot at centre mid, to show us what he can and cannot do…

at the moment its all conjecture.

  261. peachesgooner says:

SFH – it needs speed, thats what it needs. Its much easier to pass through a box with 5 players in than 8 players in. We want to pass the ball around in the opposition penalty area and for the opposition to stand back and let us – its not gonna happen.

We need to get the ball quickly into the area to cause the maximum damage. Hell we invented this play and now we can’t play it ourselves.

  262. London says:

    Hi Ave

How can I email you something?

  263. peachesgooner says:

SFH – another team would not have let Davies get as far as he did!!! He got past 2 tackles – he should have been dispossessed, hes not Messi for goodness sake!!!

  264. avenell says:

No probs london.. I’ll e mail you then you have my address..

  265. London says:

Perhaps if you email me I could email you back?

  266. Peaches – agreed, we do not attack at the rapier speed we used to with henry pires and co.

i think we just dont have the type of players to play that game anymore, they are simply not around in world football.

unless we can prise messi, ronaldo and benzema away.

  267. London says:

    I still haven’t got it!

  268. peachesgooner says:

Sure we do, we have several players who are really quick – what we don’t have is the desire to get forward quickly.

  269. avenell says:

London don’t confuse me with someone who knows about technology.. lol

I have done it now mate..

  270. peachesgooner says:

……and the players who have the ability to score goals are afraid to shoot – whats that all about?

  271. Maybe you are right.

I think our major problem will come when all the players are fit, midfield will be sweet.

but we have too many half strikers and no out and out jet heeled poacher.

eduardo and rvp will be an interesting partnership.

  272. avenell says:

    Unless the anti-lefties don’t like it. 😉

  273. peachesgooner says:

A poacher will only be any good to us if the players are prepared to move the ball into the box. Isn’t the role of the poacher to pick up scraps?

  274. Rasputin says:

We choose not to attack at that kind of speed irrespective of the pace of the players. The ball can travel faster than the players can run, but we end up playing pointless square balls and then pass the ball around aimlessly outside the box. I’ll give Eboue his due, at least he runs into the box with the ball at his feet. Fulham had players that attacked at speed today. Henry wanted us to find a ‘fox in the box’ and Eduardo is the closest to that ala Ian Wright!

  275. Ultimately, if all players in the squad were fit i would want to see ;

Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Arshavin, Diaby, Fabregras, Rosicky, Eduardo, RvP

  276. the only problem i see is a hotch potch of players all too similar in style.

so sorting the best 11, that can play together will be a job.

  277. London says:

Of subject slightly, did anyone else hear the story about Real Madrid poaching our grounds man? The same one that used to keep the pitch at Highbury looking like Wimbledon even during the winter, I was appalled. Apparently Wenger said that he thought he would have to nail his desk down or they would try and take that.

  278. peachesgooner says:

When we played Cardiff last week we played a high tempo game – we got players and balls into the box quickly – everyone had more space and we scored 4 goals.

Fulham didn’t sit back, the game was quite open so why didn’t we play a high tempo game today?

  279. London says:

I never fully answered your question from this morning. I am yellow quadrant, enterance S. The equivalent to upper west, up from the goal line. Where are you?

  280. As i said earlier, Kenny Samson suggested we were not that bad, we created chances but did not take them.

    RvP missed a decent chance.

  281. Rasputin says:

We haven’t had a balanced side all season. You need the right mix of invention, resilience strength, experience and endeavour. Often managers come upon a winning blend by accident. Strangely we had a reasonably balanced side last season but let two of the most important lynchpins go. We lack experience, muscle and leadership in the midfield and a clinical marksman up front.

  282. Rasp, we had no choice in letting pleb go.. he was going to enforce article 87.

Flamini, again, played out of his skin to get his move.. he was a dirty rat, we accepted a bid from brum that summer, he rejected the move, then played like a man possesed to prove a point, done the same to marseille when we got him.

    Seen him play this season?

  283. avenell says:

There was a farewell on arse.con this morning about the groundsman…
    here it is.

  284. Rasputin says:

I wasn’t claiming that we had any choice in letting those two go SH, but we did have a choice in trying to replace them. The point I made was not about those two but the lack of balance in the side. I do however disagree with you and Avenell about Flamini – I think in the balance of ‘decent behaviour’ we treated him badly and not the other way around.

  285. avenell says:

Rasp I did say at 7.26. we treated flamini badly, I was gutted when we played cole in the champions league final. and that was after the tapping up with chelsea, no moral standards.

  286. peachesgooner says:

Hi London – what a rubbish afternoon eh?

I’m a very lucky girl, I don’t have a season ticket but I share one in block 128 and have a very good friend who has silver tickets, so I go to every game cos they don’t and usually sit anywhere in yellow. Today I was in 134 row 5 – right on the half way line!! Great seat – rubbish football 😦

  287. peachesgooner says:

he may not have played every game but he could have given Denilson a rest now and then

  288. Rasp – sorry i just assumed you did think that as you typed “but let two of the most important lynchpins go”

cos we did not “let them go”, they actually “wanted to go”

  289. gilberto was useless in his last 18 months.

only his goals masked how poor he was in distribution, he lost the ball 8/10 during his last season.

  290. peachesgooner says:

We need some calmness, some stability, some control in mid-field – we had it the other night against Roma and today it had vanished.

There we were all thrilled that Diaby was fit but he had a mare of a game.

  291. Rasputin says:

Sorry avenell – I didn’t mean to ‘dis’ you 😉 I thought you said something to that effect in response to JonJon but I must have got it wrong.

When you look at all the top sides, they have players with the right characteristics in the right positions. Centrebacks primarily need to be strong, positionally aware and know how to read the game. Midfielders need to have a good engine, great spacial awareness and the ability to tackle; wingers need pace and dribbling and crossing skills,; strikers need a good first touch, ferocious shot, cool head and great timing. Managers need insight, tactical awareness, motivational skills and vision. We are lacking some of theses ingredients I believe.

  292. anybody recall how ahemm “well” flamini played for us during the last 7 or 8 games of the season?

once he had signed up for meelan… dirty, dirty dog.

gave it all the big un all year, he new full well he was NEVER going to sign and wanted to get a juicy contract elsewhere.

see him play now? f’ing useless, totally useless for meelan, he cannot get a game ahead of the geriatric crew.

why? comfort zone, contract signed, nothing more to prove.

  293. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – you forgot tall for centrebacks 🙄

  294. are we letting a lot of goals in of late?

  295. Rasputin says:

What are you saying SH – when he played well for us he had ulterior motives based on his wish to further his career after we undervalued his services. Tell me, who did we replace him with. We had 8 weeks of faffing around with the idea of buying Inler and sveral others only to have him reject us and our ‘open chequebook’ as it was described at the time?

  296. i think we are picking at things, we are lacking minute detail, thats all, there is not a lot missing.

at this level, that minute detail can look huge, hence a list of things wrong.

  297. Rasputin says:

Are we dominating the midfield and scoring loads of goals of late?

  298. we tried for inler, he signed a new contract with udineses, not our fault.

in the end, there was nobody else the boss fancied.

so he bigged up the players he did have, rightyl or wrongly.

maybe, they have proved to him they are not up to it, but that “open chequebook” could be open for 10m, not neccesarily 100m.

we have a small budget, end of, there is no conjecture there, look at the black and white accounts.

read the telegraph story on them from 2 days ago.

the sun will get hold of it in about 3 months, then all fans will know.

  299. peachesgooner says:

SFH – theres a huge amount missing, 10 points are missing from our tally because of these recent draws. 10 points that would put us comfortably in the top four.

  300. how many of those 0-0’s were oh so close to producing that on e singular goal to make it 3 points?

  301. Rasputin says:

Sorry SH but your tone is condescending, calling those you disagree with ‘numb nuts’ on your site or implying that fans are intellectually challenged sun readers on here is pompous and does nothing to add credence to your argument. I can see that your views are heartfelt and heavily ingrained. I do read the Telegraph but prefer to make my own judgements based on the facts as I understand them.

  302. peachesgooner says:

There were chances today, schwarzer made some good saves – the post denied van persie.

Last week there were chances against Sunderland.

    West Ham was rubbish.

We don’t know about spuds cos the game would have been different with 11 v 11.

Everton – we got a last gasp goal.

Today, sunderland and west ham should have produced goals – we were playing at home FFS

  303. Don’t take the posts as personal to you, rasputin.

The telegraph merely relayed the facts as they stand in the accounts.

Again, there is no conjecture there. We have 133.5m to stump up by next april or we have the emirate taken off us.

we had 93 m in the bank last summer.

we have not sold all the flats, so there is a shortfall to make up.

  304. London says:

What made Ave call you Peaches de thame? Do you have a brother who lives around Little Venice (Arsenal supporter)?

  305. To give Arsene the benefit of the doubt , he’s had half the first team unavailable for pretty much all the season so maybe it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the usual standards we’ve come to expect have slipped . Wenger is playing a delicate balancing game between keeping the books balanced and thereby securing the long-term security of the club …. and producing a winning team with strong future prospects on a manageable budget – all this in the midst of the worst financial crisis in modern history .
Taking a long-term view he’s probably doing the right thing for the health of the club , albeit that it leads to huge frustrations when a less-than-first-choice first team drops points on such a regular basis ..
The prospect of missing out on Champions League football next season is for sure painful to consider , but that fact is only because of the stellar level that Wenger has taken the club to over the last 10 years . Where were we in all honesty on the European stage before this exceptional manager dropped into our laps from the relative obscurity of Grampus 8 in the J-League ?
Christ ! even 7 times Champions League winners A C Milan missed out on C L qualification this year , and it didn’t lead them to panic and make a hasty decision by sacking Ancelotti .
Arsenal is a significantly more powerful club in every aspect compared to what it was before Wenger arrived , and it’s time for both the board and fans to show some patience and loyalty towards him . I would back him before any other candidate to turn our fortunes around … maybe he’ll even go one step further than that night in Paris and bring the big eared cup back to The Emirates sooner than expected ……

  306. Rasputin says:

You quote the financial pages in the Telegraph. If you read the comments of Henry Winter regarding the football you will receive an opinion that firmly believes we should have ‘invested’ in some experienced players in the summer. Businesses speculate to accumulate. The value of the flats wiil go up in time and they will all sell, where is the profit in losing £30 million revenue from the CL?

  307. avenell says:

I have never had to do the refereeing bit before guys so go easy on me and keep it arsenal.. your all lovvvvely.. 🙂

  308. Who should we have bought last summer? That was available, within budget and an improvement on the squad?

  309. peachesgooner says:

London – I’m a garden designer and ave was being cheeky.Rachel de Thame is a familiar garden designer from tv gardening shows. Maybe she lives near you, her husband works in the film industry I think.

  310. peachesgooner says:

  311. Were pool going to sell him to us, after missing out on barry?

    NO… next

  312. it is the easiest thing in the world for a fan to say “buy him” “get him” “easy” etc

the real world is surely not that simple, is it?

  313. avenell says:

you mean Oggy! that’s what my mate used to be called after he scored a few for “green Tye” (ras?)

  314. Rasputin says:

Whose site is this avenell? I’m not trading insults or being patronising. Peaches let it go earlier, but I’m getting fed up with reading the same re-hashed comments

  315. avenell says:

chill stringfellow.. he scored an own goal!!

  316. ok sorry.

yup we should have signed alonso, gerrard and messi.

    wenger out.

  317. peachesgooner says:

The whole Alonso/Barry deal was finely balanced we all know that, once Barry wasn’t moving there wasn’t a hope that we would get Alonso – I accept that. I was just being frivolous.

But why let Gilberto go when we needed an experinced head? That was just plan silly.

  318. Rasputin says:

Well done Stringfellow, you’ve shown you’re true colours – when all else fails abandon reasoned argument and resort to sarcasm. Avenell set up this blog for friendly discussion and gets a lot of hits from those who don’t believe debate is about imposing your viewws on others. I see you have 3 responses to the post on your blog – why aren’t more people engaging you on there I wonder?

  319. peaches – gilberto was not very good in hi last season and a bit.

i can recall gooners bemoaning his lack of ability in passing even a square ball to feet.

he moved on at a good time, to get 3m for him was unreal.

  320. avenell says:

Guys apart from trying to do tomorrows blog behind the scenes. I have read most of the comments.

You both must admit that it is better to debate with people who have different views.

If we all agree it’s boring. so disagree, both ras and stringfellow are more capable than me of stringing some words together without insulting each other.. 😦

  321. Rasputin says:

Sorry avenell, I’ll red card myself. I have total respect for you and your views.

  322. peachesgooner says:

I love our team – I want them to do really well – many of them are young and inexperienced and I believe some of what has happened this season will have an effect on them in the future.

They aren’t brimmimg with confidence and they should be, they play for Arsenal.

I think we are playing wages to young players who are not good enough where we could be paying wages to more experienced players who also arn’t quite good enough but would be doing a better job.

  323. rasputin, that blog is not set up for regular comment like this one.

i don’t have the time to be on there every day.. you did note earlier i posted “post feedback on here”

maybe like the “let him go” “did not let him go”, you missed it 😉

i talk to quite a few other bloggers daily, via email on on their comments section.

i argue my points with many, they argue back.

nobody ever calls the teacher, lol.

its all fair in love and war.

  324. avenell says:

no need ras you and stringfellow are both better than that..

  325. if we keep this up, ave

we can get you up to number 1 soon 😉

  326. peachesgooner says:

ave – did you and nita want a quiet nite in?

  327. London says:

Rachel de Thame lives around the corner and her hubby is a gooner. A piece of very useless information.

  328. peachesgooner says:

London – thats what blogs are for, exchanging useless bits of information 😉

Is he in the film business? I have a friend who’s a cameraman – also a gooner – who told me how rachel got the job. Very jealous 😆

  329. avenell says:

Do you mean tomorrow nite peaches?

If you want to come down and baabysit that’s very nice of you 🙂

  330. London says:

Good night all, see you tomorrow.

  331. avenell says:

    Thanks loads London!! goodnite.

  332. peachesgooner says:

    Nite London

  333. avenell says:

Peaches thanks for today and all your help!
goodnight if you are off up the wooden hill. 🙂

  334. peachesgooner says:

No ave that wasn’t what i meant – good try though 😆

Thanks for the chat room ave – I would have gone insane this evening without you all 🙂

Its always fun to get the first and last hat-trick of the day – what d’ya think

  335. peachesgooner says:

You got in the way of my hat-trick – again

  336. peachesgooner says:

Still one last chance, here we goooooooooooooooo

  337. peachesgooner says:

Where have you gone rasp? I got a hat-trick.

Catch up tmoro, nite nite all 😆

  338. avenell says:

    haha nite peaches.. x

  339. kelsey says:

    Morning all,

I know you won’t agree Avenell/JJ,but we come over to this channel as we never have rants between ourselves and behave as internet friends.

SFH,didn’t get on with Geoff, you set up your own site, witch is commendable, but now you are asking us to write our opinions about your site on this site.

I have addressed you by name a couple of times, with no reply.Don’t expect us to blog on 3 sites.I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but advertising your site on here as Faker did on LG is not the way to go about it IMO.

  340. kelsey says:

    February 28, 2009 at 12:35 pm

    Hi guys/gals.

A serious point, there are a few other blogs out there who are now becoming VERY annoyed with the rantings of a certain blog spouting regular bullshine regarding the true financial aspect of our club.

We all know which pikey blog i am talking about, the one which one co-blogger regularly posts “f off back to japan wenger”!!

The above remark by SFH,prompted my previous post. I don’t agree with everything on LG, but we all met on there, and there was no need for you to express LG in the way you did.Secondly Avenell and Pedro agreed that their respective blogs wouldn’t critise each other. What you expect to gain by referribg to LG as a “pikey blog”.Downright rude, and shows your self importance, which is not needed.I assure I am not alone in my thinking, calm down or kindly keep to your own site.Thanks.

  341. London says:

    Morning kelsey

What’s the weather like there in Spain?

  342. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

Isn’t it wonderful how a new day can reactivate your optimism gene……. It’s not all over yet, but we are making it very hard for ourselves aren’t we? 😉

  343. avenell says:

    morning roadsters.

    Nice to see you ras!

I am going to talk to jonjon and get a few opinions of what to do about yesterday, it is all a learning curve for me.
I am in a situation where everyone who blogs on here apart from 2 come from LG.
Now for this blog to become bigger we need fresh bloggers from outside, also it is refreshing that we can debate opposite views.
just agreeing all the time is a little boring.
I don’t want to be a big brother on here and my views are no more important than anyone elses so I am going to have a think about the best thing to do for the future.
I would like your views on how we can all get on without going over yesterdays little problem.
I don’t just want to ban anyone who doesn’t agree, I’m not saying that’s what happened yesterday but we all have very strong views on our club.

We had our best day ever yesterday and I was really pleased, we had nearly a thousand hits and 350 comments so thank you all very very much for that.
so let’s iron out a few probs and we can move on.

  344. Kelsey / and others – some issues that needs clarifying, i think.

I NEVER MENTIONED, LG, BY NAME – there are 1479 Arsenal Blogs, apparently… YOU named them, your honour.

Secondly, i upset somebody on another blog after asking him why he thought he “was self important” enough to tell our manager “to f off back to japan”

he did not fancy arguing that point, strangely enough.

if that kind of banter floats your boat, fair dues.

On a final point, i will rasie this just so you ALL understand.

I have wrote for 2 other quite well known blogs ( circa 2006 – 2007 ), this is not a new exercise for me.

I speak daily to some well known bloggers, that are disgusted with certain blogs, i joined a certain blog to discuss matters with them… they were not up for it.

I was then motivated again, to start writing on a more regualr basis, so set up Legendaire.

I set it up and came on here and me AND Avenell had an agreement that we would support one anothers blog, but i clearly told him i am not recreating a daily 300 post comments area, and any banter would be on here solely.

Guys, its not very hard to create a blog and market it if you want loads of comments a day, its not my bag. My blog is a simple soundboard for MY views.

My bag is simple, i find gooners hypocritical in this day and age, never really were in the past.

One week we are the nuts and wenger is the greateast, the next its a case of “he’s no good” “sack him” “buy him” “spend money” etc etc

I am pretty much aware of the financial backdrop withitn which wenger is working, not only from the accounts, but as i mentioend to ave a while ago, i know a junior person who works at the club.
My blog is really to put down what i feel, and mix in what i know and hopefully come up with something I can look back on in 1 year/2 years and think yup, i was not barking up the wrong tree.

I wrote some articles in the past, on the club, that got thousands of hits within a week, that was not my blog, and a advert based blog, hits counted.

My blog is a simple diary blog, just my views, end of.

Also, sorry if i have not directly replied, not on here everyday, but if you could copy and paste the questions i missed, i will happily answer them.

  345. London says:

    Morning Rasp

I can only assume that this is why women go on to have more than one child: something inside allows them to forget the pain and triggers optimism enabling them to go through the whole experience again.
Personally, I am still nursing the stretch marks from having my emotions pulled from pillar to post in yesterday’s painful experience.

  346. London says:

    Morning Rasp

You have bounced back well; it’s still grey around my way.

  347. London says:

    Accidental double post.

  348. peachesgooner says:

well in my drunken state I must’ve accounted for at least 50 I’m ashamed to say 😳

    Morning all

I’ve just emailed kelsey with my masterplan for the team.

We just need to get back to playing quicker, moving the ball forward so that we get to the penalty area before all of them do.

Maybe they need a few mummys standing shouting at them like when they were 6 🙂

  349. Rasputin says:

    Morning London and Avenell,

London, maybe we need a new conception 😉 I’m feeling ****ed after yesterday too! The club is bigger than any player, manager, fan etc. etc. so we can all take solace and see Arsenal as a naughty child with a few behavioural problems who we will still love whatever they do to us.

Avenell, I’m not going to engage in any further discussions over yesterday’s topics. I think you have the makings of an excellent site here that should be self monitoring if the right people contribute. There is a familiar pattern to blog bullies, they instruct rather than discuss, resort to sarcasm and insults and post lengthy comments in an attempt to show how well informed they are – so I’ll stop now 😉

  350. avenell says:

stringfellow. I will leave that on for now.
let’s not go over what happened between us all yesterday and talk about putting arsenal football club right.
just keep it friendly, there is no point in anyone leaving or getting banned. I love you all!!!

    just let yesterday go!!

  351. Rapsutin, did not mean to bully you or make you feel small.

My apologies, you have your view i have mine.

  352. Rasputin says:

I never feel ‘small’ stringfellow 😆

  353. avenell says:

ras.. c’mon fella that is a virtual handshake!

  354. avenell says:

stringfellow try the handshake without the extra’s please..

  355. Ave, interesting point here, though.

You guys all know each other, i am the newcomer, i have a different view to you guys… what is the issue?

You are dead right, debate is good.

Unless this is a back slappers convention?

where unless we all agree with the universal view, the teacher gets called and a big sob ensues.

surely we are all big enough and ugly enough ( the ladies excluded ) to dust ourselves down and move on.

i certainly am, enjoyed the healthy debate last night.

  356. avenell says:

I have been on the wrong side of a few people ganging up on me before stringfellow and it isn’t nice.

You do have your view, like I say I agree with most of it but we just need to soften our approach to each others.

Part of the blogging skill is to just lay off the throttle sometimes, step back and read your post as if you are on the recieving end.

  357. Very fair comment, ave.

  358. peachesgooner says:

    Morning London

Yesterday I was furious, I’m still furious but I find myself thinking about the young boys in that team and wonder what support they get from not scoring again!!!

We get to support each other – euphoria turns to despair and back to optimism. The lot of a football supporter.

Worse thing about today – either the Mancs or the Spuds are going to lift a trophy at Wembley.

  359. Pat Rice stepping down thie summer with Bouldy stepping up to first team assistant.

Don’t shoot the messeneger, just reporting an email from a pal.

  360. JonJon says:

    morning all

sorry i dissappeared rapidly last night but i was severley pissed off and i went to the pub, 😉

ive read through all the comments last night and wow, thanks everyone for that, a blog is not just about everyone agreeing, but everyone agreeing to disagree too.

im no extremist, i sit on the fence, i love the manager and i love the club but when we play shit and the results dont come i will critisise. this is a results business after all. yesterdays result was pathetic.

i dont want him out and i like the way we are run but changes to the team do have to be made, thats obvious,

i respect everyones views and i will debate with anyone, but id like to keep it friendly pls

we all have differant views on differant things and we saw that last night, thats a good thing, but as long as debate doesnt turn into petty arguing then i dont have a problem with it.

SFH, i might not agree with everything you say but i will listen to and respect your views, every blog needs different ends of the spectrum and you provide one end, i respect you for it too, hell, i dont agree with avenell all the time so dont take it to heart if i say i disagree with you. 😉

back to football, im still fucking annoyed, it was obvious before the game arsh and diaby were not fit, so effectively we were playing with a 3 man midfield, add to the fact that denilson has played every game but one this season and we had a 2.5 man midfield, and it showed, we are so short of numbers its unbelievable and im not buying into the fact that injuries have ruined the side this season cos everton have had worse injuries than us and they are just behind us. ffs, theyve had no strikers at one point and they were still getting results.

the squad was under strength at the start of the season and now we are paying for it. the players who are regarded as squad players are not good enough

  361. Rasputin says:

Morning Peaches – but don’t forget, we’re gonna lift the FA cup!

  362. Cheers JJ.

I never take anything to heart, far from it.

As i said, i like healthy deabte.

Nothing irks me more than back slapping.

  363. avenell says:

You don’t agree with me when you are wrong jonjon! 🙂

  364. peachesgooner says:

Morning rasp – that must be why you’re feeling better today 😆

  365. JonJon says:

im never wrong ave, except for when i predict we will hammer fulham 12nil

  366. Rasputin says:

    Hi jonJon,

What’s your master plan for the great comeback?

  367. JonJon says:

    hey rasp,

simple, we forget about the league, 4th included, and go for the cups, all out, treat the league like the CC and blood the kids and we go for the CL. to qualify next year we have to win it now i feel.

then we tie rvp and walcott to long term deals, make room on the wage bill by selling ade nikki eboue and buy a top midfielder whos capable of outplaying danny murphy and we are ready for next year 😉

  368. i am loving the selling nikki and ade 🙂

maybe we may have enough for Benzema.

  369. we are not shipping goals for fun, we are looking solid at the back again.

a good base on which to build again.

id prefer villa if im honest, but benzema would do nicely,

a midfielders the top priority though, possibly two

im prepared to give denilson and song more time, because this is their 1st season really, but ade nikki and eboue have been here a while and they are not cutting the mustard.

add to that diaby and rosicky may always be crocks, add we are looking at rebuilding the whole midfield.

  371. eboue is good right back cover.

is villa not another half type striker who drops off and recieves the ball?

we need a rapier fast, goal hanger.

jay simpson has impressed me, but i doubt he will be champs league class, a decent lower end premiership striker, top class championship at best.

maybe vela? we just need pace to stretch the defences like we used to.

they are all quick over 20 yards but i mean rocket pace to beat a defender for shear speed over 40 yards.

without that pace, the oppo defence just sit back content to let us knock it around aimlessly.

Do you want the new post so we can debate it?? it’s a bit good!!

Then we can leave this one to rest..

  373. JonJon says:

thats why i beleive walcott will be a top striker,

if walcott hangs on the last defender and just spends all game running onto cescs through balls he will get away easily and score goals. hes a striker at heart, he aint no winger, and thats why hes so inconsistent when he plays there. pace scares defenders, henry could play wide because he was henry, theos more michael owen, he shouldnt play wide.

eboue makes a decent RB on form, but more often than not he brings the circus to town and eboughs enough, he runs and runs but theres always that thing with eboue where hes going to embarras himself and us.

    he needs to go.

  374. JonJon says:

    do it.

  375. avenell says:

    Nike it is then jonjon!!!
