Rome wasn’t built in a day.

After recent games that almost sent us to sleep, we  finally found our rhythm against a lacklustre Roma side, yet once again our finishing let us down. From 14 attempts on goal we only tested the keeper twice and we could only score from a penalty so although we played with fluidity and many of our players were in impressive form, I’m not jumping for joy just yet, there’s still a long way to go.1-03I still think 1 nil from the home leg is never enough to take into the 2nd, especially when we should of had at least 3, but the fact we scored and kept a clean sheet means Roma will have to come at us and play, especially on their own turf. We all know we struggle when teams decide to park the bus, but when they decide to play we can beat anyone, just ask Chelsea and Man Utd. I am confident if we get one goal at least,  the tie is ours. Our defence has been solid recently, Gallas has been world class and Kolo has been a worthy side kick, an early goal would mean Roma need 3 and I don’t think they will do it, so fingers crossed.

Onto the game, I said on the blog yesterday that if we were going to get a result we needed RvP and Nasri to be on top form, and they didn’t disappoint. Nasri was all over the place, it was like he was given a free role in the midfield and when hes central he’s awesome. Let me add if we did lose Cesc in the summer, I wouldn’t be worried, because in Nasri we have a suitable replacement and although his passing is not of Cescs standard, his overall attack play is better than Cescs and i’d love him to play centrally all the time. Robin was also class, he’s so clever with the ball, close control, tricky feet and the penalty was sweet. Robin won the penalty with intelligence and trickery. He rope a doped the defender into going to other way and made himself room for a shot, the slightest of clips and he went down, excellent forward play.

We had some excellent chances, Bendtner could of had a couple cough cough, Eboue also had a glorious chance cough cough, but do we expect anything less from them after the season they have both had?????

Roma were overpowered, outplayed and credit must go to wenger for the tactics on the night, for once he got it spot on, he made Denilson sit back all game and we looked solid for once when we didn’t have the ball, Roma never looked threatening and apart from a long range effort which Almunia superbly saved, we weren’t tested at all.

Almunia…7…not really tested but made a great save from a thunder bolt from 30 yards, came out for a few crosses and looked comfortable all night.

Sagna…7…I thought we saw the Sagna of last season. Went on bombing runs, keeping the Roma winger defending all night and his crossing wasn’t as bad as its been recently either. Sagna, some good crosses also, but just needs to sort out his defensive play

Kolo…7…was Totti even in the game???

Gallas…7…same as kolo, never looked in trouble all night, the mans professionalism and class has shone through since earlier season activities, I hope he stays with us in the summer

Denilson…8…wow, excellent game, kept away from the attack and did what he was told and protected his back four with ease, won every tackle and swept up well, best performance I’ve seen from him, he looked like a little Gilberto. Its watching him in games like that which make me think he will make it as a good player.

Diaby…7…started well but faded towards the end but he has just returned from injury so I won’t moan. His control is excellent, hes a great player when he wants to be, going forward and backward there were times I thought I was watching Vieira all over again, its just a shame he doesn’t do it every game.

Eboue…7…I’d like to give Eboue 10 for effort, but trying and effort doesn’t make you a great player. His pace causes problems but he does nothing with it, he has no end product. There were times last night Eboue broke on the counter attack and his pace got him free and into space, but he can’t dribble, he can’t shoot and he can’t pass so he just runs into brick walls and dead ends and the chance has gone. The most we can wish for from an Eboue run is a free kick. Good effort though, at least we saw nothing from the circus.

Nasri…8…Main midfield man, absolute dynamo, creative, threatening and when he’s on form like this he’s  hard to stop and he’s still learning. We got a gem with this one.

RvP…8…Great penalty, won it well as I said before, caused the Roma defence problems all night with his trickery and linked up well with Nasri and Diaby.

Nikki (brikki)…5… Has the 1st touch of a brick wall, can’t  shoot, and wastes a lot of good play, was useless. He could of put the tie to bed but he can’t finish his dinner. He’s another Ade, we don’t need either of them.

Song…5…Why?? whats the point???

Vela…6…This lad has impressed us with his finishing this season, yet he has to keep the bench warm because Wenger prefers brikki. His confidence looks shot in front of goal now but who’s wouldn’t having to watch brikki given his chance week after week. Some people say Wenger wont play Vela because he isn’t ready??? So brikki is???

Overall a good solid performance, we should of had more goals for our efforts but with Dudu out we lack finese in front of goal. We are half way there, same again in Rome and its ours.

  15. avenell says:

I’m still about rico.. but the news is all about money today and it’s not your chosen subject..

  16. kelsey says:

Godd first half term report JJ (cough, cough) 🙂

  17. rico01 says:

i missed you both – catch you all tomorrow, off to see my Ma, and hopefully she has cooked my dinner for later 😉

  18. JonJon says:

evening all, whats been going on today with everyone.

i hearing a rumor that wengers had enough of brikki and is making a summer move for david villa.

    i wish.

  19. avenell says:

They won’t spend that sort of money JJ still we can live in hope..

Did you see the finances? Arsenal are re-financing a loan weird that.. Why would you re-finance a loan if you have £93 million in the bank and the rest of the debt was on a 23 year loan?..

  20. kelsey says:

it’s the flats they aren’t selling(no surprise) why are we estate agents as well as being a football club.this development is a noose around our neck, the net profit IF everything was sold at list price is about 45 milliom, not qualifying for CL is 30 million.

    Oh sorry,evening chaps

  21. JonJon says:

i didnt see that ave, that is wierd, does it dare to suggest that we are in financail shit???? dont tell some gooners, they seem to think we are loaded.

they way i see it ave, if wenger lets brikki ade and eboue go, thats 40mil at least.

valencia are in financial trouble so we could get villa,

i dont think he’d spend more than 20mil though, so that deal would be dead in the water

in my opinion, if we did have 40mil to spend, id spend it all on villa if i had to, the mans the best striker in europe by far. he suits our play down to the ground and he would kill teams off with the amount of chances we create, he wouldnt take 5 shots to warm up. 1 shot 1 goal. we need him.

  22. JonJon says:

    evening kelsey.

villa are out of the uefa, thats a good thing i feel, out of the cups, confidence low, a couple of results like that in the league and we could put the pressure on, they’ll crack. come one.

  23. JonJon says:

ive said this before, the boards greed has cocked this club right up.

we should of just sold the highbury land for a lump sum, let the stadium pay for itself and put the money from highbury back into the team

the baord bit off more than they could chew and its backfired.

  24. kelsey says:

    Hi JonJon,
Villa have now lost 3 on the bounce, chelsea, everton and tonight, may it long continue.

  25. JonJon says:

thats my feelings kelsey, once the defeats start to kick in its hard to bounce back, lets hope they lose a couple more and then lets see them handle the pressure

  26. avenell says:

Evening Kelsey the facts have always been we have a cash float of £93 million but we owe £145 million at the end of this season..
All this we have £93 million in the bank to spend is a load of bollocks.
It is only a part of the finances, It just suits people to say we have it to spend and mr wenger is stubborn.

  27. JonJon says:

    wenger is stubborn. haha

  28. avenell says:

    and arrogant! lol

  29. JonJon says:

    and a c..t

  30. avenell says:

We should sell to the fat russians like chelsea.. 🙂

  31. avenell says:

And they should have forseen the property slump 8 years before it happened..

  32. JonJon says:

and buy 500mil quids worth of players and still not winn the CL

  33. JonJon says:

they should of never of sacked george graham. look at all the mess weve been in since then

  34. avenell says:

And sacked that french tosser of a manager who should have held on to diarra..

  35. avenell says:

If he never bought diarra in the first place no one would moan.. we make about £8 million out of the deal and wenger fucked that up..

  36. JonJon says:

    i know what a tosser.

fancy finding anelka for 250k and selling him for 23mil to fund the acadamy.

the c..t should of known 9 years later he’d be banging in the goals for chelsea after impressing at bolton.

  37. avenell says:

Some tosser on wrighty’s blog said if we win the champions league this year it ain’t good enough, we need to win it every year.. lol..

  38. avenell says:

accadamy’s don’t score goals so you don’t need them.. idiots..

  39. JonJon says:

diarra was a tosser anyway, he did the same at chelsea and he’ll do the same at madrid.

i’ll piss myself if he turns out to be a flop in the next couple of years and we made 8mil out of it.

  40. avenell says:

I’m going to buy championship manager and see who I want at arsenal even if they don’t want to play in england.

  41. avenell says:

Fiszman doesn’t care about arsenal, he has only got £150 million pounds tied up in it.. he wants to see it go down the plug hole..

  42. JonJon says:

fiszmann hates arsenal, hes a business man not a football man, we would of never of won all them trophies if he’d of been at the club then,

  43. avenell says:

What trophies? we haven’t won as many as them spuds, we need to change the manager twice a year like they do..

  44. JonJon says:

the spuds have the right policy, buy up 100mil of talent change the manager every 6mnths and get to two CC finals, why cant we be like them???

  45. JonJon says:

    im soo jealous

  46. avenell says:

Spend the profits on the sacked managers compensation, don’t want that money going towards the best club stadium in the country for the future..

  47. JonJon says:

no we have money to burn, the finances say so ave, jeez

  48. avenell says:

Why can’t we be in proper debt like man u or chelsea?

    we are always second best!

  49. avenell says:

I buy 2 season tickets and I want to sit on the board if I’m spending that sort of money.. hahahaha

  50. avenell says:

arsene wenger must read this blog because we told him to wear a blue top for the press conference today.. stopit!! lol..

  51. JonJon says:

  52. JonJon says:

so hasnt bergkamp been about at all??

  53. avenell says:

I haven’t seen him anywhere.. even if he changed his name there is only one blogger bergkamp. 😉

  54. JonJon says:

i was thinking that today, what if he’s changed alias’

but like u i thought that you’d recognise him instantly by the way he blogs. its unique only to him,

its a shame if hes gone for good cos he was a good blogger.

  55. avenell says:

Wrighty has done a post JJ, get blued up and say hello!

  56. JonJon says:

    morning all

news is diabys out of the game at the weekend, thats just the story of his career, gets injured, comes back, gets injured,

would it be fair to say we should let him go??? he’s just a crock

  57. kelsey says:

morning JJ,yes we have a knack of having injury prone players that are good, the shite ones never get injured.questions really have to be asked with one of the finest medical facilities anywhere, that so many players come back before they are fully fit, only to get injured again.

anyway,i am out all day catch up later.

  58. rico01 says:

Morning All – Diaby is just so annoying, injury after injury 😦

  59. JonJon says:

yes kelsey i agree with that,

i’d also question the roles of our fitness and strength and conditioning coaches, and our training regime, we seem to have had so many injuries over the last few years there must be an underlying problem, its definately more than being unlucky

  60. Rasputin says:

    Morning Roadsters,

I can’t agree more about Diaby. I thought he was taken off because hewas tiring which is understandable, but another ‘injury’ is just a joke. I bet most bricklayers wake up with a sore back after the previous day’s exertions! I know its an unfair analogy and there’s no point in fielding if he’s not fit, but every time he begins to look like he could make his mark he’s off again…… a couple more chnances maybe and then we should give up on him and get rid!

  61. JonJon says:

    hi rico

your right its so annoying, whats the point of having a player on the wage bill who only manages 25% of the season,

no matter how skillful its just a waste,

  62. JonJon says:

    hi rasp

    agree totally

  63. Rasputin says:

    Hi JonJon,

I’d really like to think Rosicky will return and realise the promise he showed, but I heard that his contract expires in the summer so it is possible he could put in one or two good performances towards the end of this season and then leave on a free! Am I being paranoid, or have we had the worst record for injuries in the prem over the last 3 years – I wonder if OPTA has a stat on that?

  64. JonJon says:

i heard the same about rosicky, but i think theres an option in the contract were we can extend it by a year.

if he does leave it will be our decision, wenger will give him april and may to prove his fitness, i think if hes injured in that time his careers over

i hope he does make it though, hes a smashing little player

  65. rico01 says:

Like you, I hope we see Thomas this season, I think he is a great player and I truly hope that all his niggles have now been sorted and we will get 3/4 good seasons out of him, if not more – We have missed him on the left, big time

Diabyu does concern me, he is so young to be getting injured so often, he has great potential, i just wish he could stay fit.

  66. JonJon says:

i think theres a good chance of both diaby and rosicky leaving in the summer

wenger will have a clearout after this season,

i honestly believe ade eboue and bendtner are out the door

ade definately because it will clear a huge lump off the wage bill and we will get a good amount of money for him

if diaby and rosicky cant stay fit then wenger will clear them off the wage bill too

i think he will definately retire in 2011, if we dont win the CL this year that gives him 2 years to do it.

he wants it so he’ll rebuild

  67. Rasputin says:

Do you think that Kalou could turn into a better player for us than at Chelsea? If your prediction of a clearout is true, we may need another striker, but he’s not clinical enough in front of goal and we’ve had enough of players missing easy chances this season.

  68. JonJon says:

    Rasp, good question,

no, i dont think kalou is good enough, his pace makes him a good outlet, but he isnt technical enough, he doesnt fit our style and has no final product, it would buying another eboue and i dont think we need any more africans either unless his names michael essien

i dont think we need another striker either, we’d still have rvp, dudu, vela, theo, arshavin, simpson and nasri can play in the hole as 2nd striker too,

id like to see villa, but we have enough to go with, we dont need ade and brikki

  69. rico01 says:

JJ – hope you are right about Nik and Ade

  70. rico01 says:

Rasp – he is quite short aswell I think, we need a power house centre forward with a proven goal scoring record. He is obviously not happy and Chelsea and see’s us as the best London Club, no doubt he is touting himself in time for the summer…

Essien, world class, imagine him and Cesc

  71. JonJon says:

diabys fit again ppl. hes in the squad.

thats what i dont understand, if he had a niggle and he was 50/50 friday then why pick him sat???

just wait until hes fully fit, no wonder hes always crocked.

  72. rico01 says:

just read that JJ, great news

  73. peachesgooner says:

Anyone about? I’ve been neglecting my blogging chums today but have had a fabulous time in my garden.

Great news about Diaby – agree JonJon, hope he’s not carrying a knock though. We need him for the run in, mind you we need him tomorrow too.

  74. peachesgooner says:

I’d be lying if I said I’d been sitting waiting for someone to come and talk to me.

Hope you’ve all had a good day, I’ll pop back soon 😉

  75. raif says:

    hello all 🙂

    how you all doing

  76. avenell says:

Hey raif where you been? I spent half an hour looking for the lehmann vids, posted them but you never came back.. 😦

  77. raif says:

ohh yeah.. sorry about that mate. i saw them but then the missus pulled me off the comuter as the little one was acting up with his feed, by the time we finishd i was itching for my bed.

  78. JonJon says:

arshavin will be in tomorrow too hopefully in place of eboue.

  79. avenell says:

no worries mate.. are you going tomorrow?

  80. JonJon says:

    howdy raif

  81. raif says:

hey JonJ you been alright mate.

No Ave my dads going tomorrow 😦

  82. JonJon says:

kool raif, hows u and the family??

  83. avenell says:

Why’s that, only one jacket between you?

  84. raif says:

no his got a Jacket like that aswell.

i gave one to him after i got a newer jacket last summer. as the new one i got had little touches the older one didnt have.

also im starting to think that Jacket is a Bad Oman. every time i wear it to a game we dont win.

so for roma i didnt put it on stuck on a simple biker looking jacket from Next and hey we won lol

  85. avenell says:

That will probably fall apart soon that cheap stuff, you need to get down to top man..

  86. raif says:

im not much of a fan of top man to be honest they have some nice stuff but anything i find from there i can find somthing better at River Island.

Next is somthing in the middle at times. you either like it or you dont.

but for me it aint to bad as im getting discount after all,

  87. avenell says:

I was only joking raif.. lol The last time I bought a suit it was from river island.. that was about 18 years ago now. 🙂

how would you like a nice shirt from avenell row? It came wednesday after they fucked up the order, then the twaunts stuck it in royal mail.

  88. raif says:

i didnt take no offence mate. some of our stuff is proper rubbish. and never lasts long. plus the sizes come up small some times.

Ohhhh the shirt came. 😉 thats good news Ave 😀

  89. avenell says:

The only thing is I cannot find the font you wanted for the front.. I will send you some samples.. inc impact. The font on the back is no problem.
    I’ll have a look in a bit..

  90. raif says:

yeah sure thing Ave.. give me some samples and ill find one with no problems 🙂

  91. avenell says:

If you are there raif, I have emailed you….

  92. London says:

Tommorrow’s team is tricky to guess. There are so many possibilities; that said, if we add Fabregas and Rosicky it turns into a Rubic Cube.

  93. avenell says:

Hey london, how are you mate?

I think we will see the same team as tuesday except eboue out and arshavin in.

Are you going? we have one hell of a lot of home games at the moment, must be sending you skint. 😉

  94. London says:

Hi Ave. I haven’t missed a single minute this season so yeah, I will be going tomorrow. I have just read your post. I like the boldness of the comparison with Diaby and Viera I think your site is the first to have the balls to say it. Completely justified, Diaby drove the whole thing forward. The other thing I realised is that your site does not have a regular Song supporter; I will volunteer, not very popular but every site should have one, we certainly liven things up.
If the season was starting on Saturday I think we would win the league. Hope you are well, say hello to Jonjon.

  95. avenell says:

I must confess it is jonjon’s post and not mine, I didn’t get that excited before the game on tuesday about diaby’s inclusion. But he had an excellant game. I just don’t know why sometimes he plays he is total crap, yet sometimes like on tuesday and against man u he is the bollocks of a midfield player.
I’m okay with song london we used to stick together a bit on him, but in the end “brick wall” and “head banging” springs to mind. lol..

  96. London says:

I forgot to answer your last part, I am a season ticket holder so I have already paid for it all. I was talking to my friend who sits next to me since the beginning of time and I asked him do you remember how much you first paid to get into the North bank; he said, 1/6d, I can’t remember that but I can remember the prices going up to 5s and my Dad being outraged and saying that people would never be able to afford it and this would be the end of football. Happy days

  97. raif says:

HEY sorry to be away for ages. i felt like watching a old school movie. so i saw Jackie Chans Drunken Master.

what a movie. i grew up on that movie lol..

ill check the e-mail now Ave

  98. London says:

I guessed it was Jonjons post. You are not alone in being underwelmed by Diaby’s inclusion on Tuesday but he was special, very, very special. The problem seems to be that he saves it for when he returns from an injury. By now he is aware that time is running out: he has got to start producing regularly.

  99. London says:

    he must be aware that….

  100. avenell says:

When I was 16 and first allowed to go on my own to the football, not so much allowed but had the money to go.. 1978 it was a £1.00 to get in..
We used to get a train from hertford north, a programe, ticket to the north bank, and a wimpey back at hertford for under a fiver.. lol

If you could hum the hovis add music it sounds even better.. 🙂

  101. London says:

You could hum the Hovis add music. Lol

  102. raif says:

a £1 to get in. and a Whimpy under a fiver.

    Happy Days….

not like today. a Fiver will not even get you 5 yards from ur door in this day and age.

  103. avenell says:

The other problem with diaby.. if he cannot be a more defensive midfielder, he is up against some stiff opposition in arshavin, rosicky, nasri, walcott etc to be a attacking midfielder or so called playmaker..
he needs to find a role to make his own.

  104. London says:

The problem I have is that I can’t remember hardly any of the games; I am like a gold fish: as soon as he has swam round the tank he has forgotten. I can only guess that this is in some way akin to why women have more than one baby: they can’t remember the pain so they go back for more.

  105. avenell says:

london I have asked everyone else, well a few i would like someone who goes to the games to write or share the writing of the odd match report.. do you fancy it now and again?
That goes for you too raif.. It would add to the credability of the site to have a few season ticket holders writing for us..

  106. avenell says:

London .. or bad hangovers. Cooow I had had some 2 dayers.. lol

  107. London says:

The thing is as I see it is that 95% of the teams that come to the Emirates arrive with the intension of parking the bus, which is as we know not having any intension of venturing into the our half, so for that reason in those sort of games we really do not need a DM but we do need someone who can do a bit of defending if needed and Diaby can do a bit, his height helps with corners etc. As for who will play when every one is fit Ohhhh what problems to have.

  108. avenell says:

Or is it we cause this problem by pushing the opponents back into there 18 yard box. If we sat back and allowed them to come on to us more, we would have more space to break into.

  109. London says:

Ave, that is a very interesting offer but I do not have the confidence in my writing ability. Maybe, step one is to get a bit closer to your site, you know, add a bit more here and there to see how it goes. The thing I have noticed is that there isn’t a site that revels in all things good about Arsenal, there are plenty that pride themselves in finding fault as I am sure you are aware; for example, I was elated after Tuesdays game. I mean jump in the air happy and what do I find after the game doom and gloom on the blogs. I couldn’t believe it Tuesday was fantastic, Denilson was a revelation and Diaby was…well I have already explained. Let’s see

  110. avenell says:

London .. you gazzap and gmr are the bloggers I look up to having found east lower first.

I even called myself avenell because of what your name represents.
that isn’t bull either buddy, and you write far better than I ever can it’s just circumstances that has caused me to have my own site.
But now I have started it I want it to be the best, stupid I know but why do anything that is second best?

  111. London says:

That is a good point. It would be interesting to see how that would work. The most noticible problem, i should re-phrase that one of the most noticible problems last weekend against Sunderland was that when we had the oportunity to break we didn’t know what to do, it was like that look you get on a dog’s face when you throw it a stick and it looks at you as if to say: yeah and now what. This is, of course, even more ridiculous when we remember just how good we used to be. Lehman, Viera, Pires, Henry goal. Five seconds

  112. London says:

I like gazzap, I have a lot of time for him. Let’s see how it goes. I was accused of not being an Arsenal supporter today on you know where by you know who so I am sure that you will be seeing a lot more of me. Anyway I am off now. Have a good night, I will check in after the game tomorrow.

  113. avenell says:

This is also the thing with mr wenger obe and his substitutions.
he should bring on walcott when we are 2 up and not more defenders like silvestre.
he causes the opposition to attack us, we have no outlet.

  114. JonJon says:

we just cant get that consistency, all it takes is a good thumping of a team, where we score 5 or 6 goals and the players will have the confidence that they can score, its all about the right mentality, we go into games knowing if teams park the bus we will struggle, and more often than not they do and we do.

we need to go into games not worrying about what they are going to do, but what we are going to do, we need to stop this lets be patient mentality and just take the game by the scruff of the neck from the start, rather than waiting until the 89th minute.

  115. London says:

    Hi Jonjon

  116. avenell says:

Do as I do london not as I say!!!

night mate . speak tomorrow.. 🙂

Hey jj you ignored me today I noticed have we fell out?

  117. London says:

Let’s keep this friendly. Name me one game when Wenger has bought on Sylvestre, with negative consequences? I was just on my way to bed.

  118. JonJon says:

hi london how have you been mate??

ave when was this, why would we fall out??

  119. JonJon says:

if london aint a real supporter then none of us are.

  120. London says:

Jonjon, It’s coming, someone is going to get absolutely thumped soon, it may even be tomorrow. I am not sure if it has just been about mentality, the calibre of player or the lack of it has played a far greater part to my mind. That said, as we all know the team will get stronger and stronger until the end of the season. I was going to bed. Lol

  121. avenell says:

I was using silvestre as an example of negative substitutions (I know he has brought him on late in a few games I will have to look it up)
We are always friendly on here london, it’s more chilled..
    have a goodnight..

  122. London says:

Ok, I am going to bed, good chatting to you guys.

  123. raif says:

London i hope ur right. as ive been hoping for a Thumping all season. and every time i think its going to be that day. it never happens.

tho i do think its comming now. but above all its not so much the thumping of a team its getting the 3 points. i dont care if we play bad anymore i just want the points

  124. JonJon says:

i agree the calibre of player has been a problem, our squad players are not good enough.

but confidence helps, if you believe you can you will.

i hope we hit fulham for 6. revenge bigtime

  125. JonJon says:

    nite london

raif, did denilson impress u against roma, i thought he was fantastic, hes a better player when he stays out of the attack,

ave, when did i ignore u??

  126. avenell says:

Arsenal 1 Wigan 0.. silvestre was a 90 min sub for eboue..

  127. raif says:

be right back Nappy Change time lol

  128. JonJon says:

thats a good point ave, wenger has made some dodgy subs at times this season, he gives the other team the chance to come back at us, i want to see more positive subs

song on for diaby the other night was a puzzler too, ok diaby had to come off but we were only 1 nil, and we already had denilson sweeping up superbly, why bring another defensive player on, should of been rambo or jacky. very wierd

  129. avenell says:

Jacks been getting some bad press from young guns today.. they reckon he has gone backwards..

he isn’t going to improve sitting on the bench..

  130. JonJon says:

thats the thing though ave, its the same with vela and rambo, they have to sit on the bench week in week out and are forced to watch eboue song and brikki play instead.

dont get me wrong i dont hate song as much as the other two but none of the three mentioned have set the games they have played in on fire, they have been usless for the majority of games they play. yet they still get picked

jacky vela and rambo have had some blinders especially in the CC, yet their reward is to keep the bench warm???? confidence will be shot, why promote them to the 1st team and build up there hopes just to lock the door when they are banging hard on it.

when they do get games now, they wont impress as much because the confidence is shot, wenger should of played them when they were on fire, not give them 10 mins here and there and expect them to change a game.

  131. JonJon says:

and i aint buying into the fact its to give them experience either, the only experience you get by coming on in the 85th minute of a nil nil bore is bad experience, its counter productive.

  132. avenell says:

Mr wenger obe should be creating his next side in the reserves.. if wilshere doesn’t come on on the saturday for the first team for more than 30 mins, he should get a midweek game in the reserves if possible.. that goes for all the potential first teamers.

  133. JonJon says:

i still think we’ll see a clearout in summer,

wenger cant continue to pull the wool over our eyes with the likes of brikki and eboue, especailly eboue,

ades time is up, it must be, he kicked up a stink got what he wanted, got half the team pissed off, and hes turned out to be a one season wonder.

wenger may be soft on the players through the media, but we know hes ruthless when he wants. ade has let everyone down and he’ll be gone in the summer.

brikki has no 1st touch, a 1st touch isnt something u can learn, u have it or u dont and it makes the differance between a great player and an average one, he’ll never have it so hes off too.

with rvp dudu and arsh fully fit bendtner wont even get a look in and he’ll moan and go anyway. 😉

  134. raif says:

jonj.. i was very happy with denilson when we plaid roma, he didnt do any thing wrong.

i was very impressd with diaby aswell.. there was some times were he lost the ball cheaply but everything else was good alround.. i think DENIABY is the way to go.. and not DENILSONG

  135. avenell says:

I’m happyish with bendtner, he is a better plan “B” now than ade.. I still think RvP and Eduardo type strikers are the way to go..

  136. JonJon says:

    jonjons team for tomorrow

  137. avenell says:

If we play Bendtner instead of JD.. that should make us more of an attacking team. (in theory)
I’m never sure of the team on paper compared to the real world..

  138. JonJon says:

but bendtners shit, hes been at the club a few years, been out on loan, come back and given a run in the team and has been woeful, he’s never impressed, so why stick with him???? hes just blocking the way of vela who has impressed

all the time brikkis played he has never hit one hattrick, velas played a handful of games at hit one already, whos got the most potential as a striker???

  139. JonJon says:

nasri diaby arsh and rvp have enough in them to rip any team apart, bendtner would just get in the way and we wont score.

  140. raif says:

    Nikki-B’s finishing is utter shit.

but he trys alot. and always trys to get the ball forowrd. i was happy with the way he plaid against Roma. just his finishing let him down..

when he came off for Vela we lost somthing on the Left. the subs of Vela and Song Killed the rest of the game off.

  141. avenell says:

I have softened a bit toward s bendtner lately. I prefer him as my plan “B” over ade now, but I would still like the smaller more technical strikers like RvP and Eduardo to start.
RvP has never hit a hat trick either (hard to do from a hospital bed)
bendtner or vela? don’t know yet vela bottled it under pressure tuesday, time will tell..

  142. raif says:

another thing i noticed with Nikki B. he trys the Killer pass more then most. witch is somthing we have lackd greatly since we lost Cesc..

ofcourse he wont be any were as good to Cesc when it comes to a killer pass but effort and getting stuck in goes along way with people in the english game.

its just his First Touch and Finishing that isnt up to sctrach at the moment

  143. raif says:

Vela Shcoked me. he wasnt even on the pitch. and was far to deep..

ill take Nikki Over Ade any day.
Ade is shit and dosnt get stuck in, never chases the ball down and loses it far to easily.

  144. avenell says:

Got your email raif.. that’s a real drinkers address lol..

  145. JonJon says:

rvp doesnt need to hit a hatrick hes all round play is awesome, brikki offers nothing

  146. raif says:

hahahaha the Tower part i added, as for some reason the mail people always send it to the wrong house on that street.

  147. JonJon says:

vela is confidence striken, he doesnt know what he has to do to get a go. nikki misses chances week after week and vela was on fire a bit back and still didnt get a go. his resorted to playing 10mins of a game out of position and ppl expect him to turn it on??

  148. raif says:

    JonJon / Ave..

its about Picking the Lesser of two Weevils.

    Nikki & Ade…

*i say Nikki as he works more then Ade.

*first touch and shooting are both shit for them.

*Headers i would say Nikki Times his headers a little better as ADE jumps 10 years to early.

*Ade never gets stuck in. takle, chase the ball if he loses it.

  149. avenell says:

I always said tht ade jumps to early and has to hang in the air for his headers too..
another row on another blog.. lol..
Ade at the start and middle of last season was okay.. the end of last season and this he has been shocking..

  150. JonJon says:

i hate both of em. lol

  151. raif says:

ADE was shit at the start and end of last season. he was only decent in the middle.

the thing with Ade is when it comes to Cookie Cruncher time and there is 12 to 15 games left. his Goals dry up faster then a well in a Desert.

  152. avenell says:

I don’t hate bendtner (much) .. I just see him as a plan “B” striker..
It’s only a matter of time before we get sussed out with ade so we need him gone ASAP..

  153. JonJon says:

nikkis gonna be another ade, and we’ll be saying the same about him in two years time when hes still here on 100k a week and scored 10gaols in 150 apps lol

  154. raif says:

We already have been Sussed out with ade ave lol

  155. avenell says:

But would you rather sit a £25 million pound ade on the bench or a £8 million pound bendy..

Sell the greedy dinasaur and keep the cheaper one..

  156. raif says:

hmmm Sell Ade.. i wishd we sold him in pre season and got somone else

we wont get nothing over 12 mill for him now

  157. avenell says:

There are still some pundits and so called experts who say we miss him and he is african player of the year so you never know..

I don’t really care if we give him away to be honest..

  158. avenell says:

Anyway lads.. it’s been a good night.. I’m of up the apples and pears .. so goodnight all..

  159. JonJon says:

    been good cheers lads night

  160. raif says:

african player of the year.. HA… hardly a reson to wanna go out and buy somone or play them…

they have just chosen the better out of a Nation of lesser weeviles. and gave it a fancy name…

IMO.. im only intrested in players that are listed in the Best players in the World… Cesc is the only one who got a mention i think.

  161. raif says:

night fellas, for who evers going

  162. rico01 says:

    Good Morning 😛

  163. avenell says:

    morning rico.. 😦

  164. Rasputin says:

Morning rico – just you and me then 😉

  165. Rasputin says:

    Morning avenell

  166. Rasputin says:

I’m much happier now it looks like Diaby is fit. If AA plays too, we’ll win. Does anyone know when Eduardo is due to come back?

  167. avenell says:

Morning rasputin.. day off mate, are you going?

the mirror says dudu, theo and ade within a fortnight..

  168. Rasputin says:

Hi avenell, I work on sundays and have fridays and saturdays off. I spend fridays earning extra money teaching so saturday is basically my day off – handy for footie when I can scrape up the pennies to go or if a generous benefactor takes pity on me 🙂

I wish arsene wouldn’t keep telling the fans to be patient and give the players more credit – it is bound to prompt the opposite reaction. It’s like all things, if we bang in 4 goals today – they’ll get bucketloads of credit….football is a results based business.

  169. avenell says:

Scrape pennies together .. lol you live where all the millionaires live, looking down on the interbread peasants.

mr wenger does seem to say the wrong thing sometimes and seems a bit detached from the fans (customers) but I’m suure it’s just bollocks to fill the press conferences with.
If we was winning we wouldn’t notice it as much your right..

  170. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

Anyone still about? Must be the change in the weather causing all this optimism – 4-0 rasp???? Being there the other night must have turned your head!!!

I’ve been to every home game this year and have seen just 1 premiership goal scored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK 3 against Plymouth in the fa cup ups the average a bit. But I reckon we’re owed serious amounts of goals……….

  171. peachesgooner says:

    Will today be the day????

  172. peachesgooner says:

I don’t always watch the fans forum on arse tv but I did see some of it last night. I’m surprised how many probing questions get put on air – Tom Watts is often squirming in his seat when he realises the caller is going to refer to lack of experience in the squad or players not good enough or Arsenes overall bad decision making.

Last night there was a heavy discussion about how long the club and the fans should have to wait for some silverware. Tom Watts boldly asked the panel and a caller that if we were to win the FA cup and not qualify for Champs Lge would that be a successful season. Anyone care to guess how everyone answered?

  173. London says:

    Morning everyone

My guess is that Eduardo isn’t injured at all; it was decided to start his return solely in the FA cup before returning to full duty. Expect him to start against Burnley.

Did I see an attractive women in a blue coat with black hair out side the S&B last weekend?

  174. peachesgooner says:

You’ll have to do without my scintilating company for a while cos I’ve got jobs to do in the garden.

Ave – I’ll spend some time looking at your plan tmoro, did you tell rasp that you won’t be getting the digger in till june? Private converstaion here 😉

  175. avenell says:

    Morning London and Peaches..

I’ve done a quick new post to freshen the blog up..

  176. peachesgooner says:

Morning London – did you say hello to her?

  177. avenell says:

Hi attractive black haired woman in blue coat.. lol..

Yes, the land is too wet and will rip the grass up we have down and put mud all over the drive.. so no rush!! (that is always a mistake when people say that to me).. 😉

  178. peachesgooner says:

Oh no, my cover is blown!!!!

Why don’t I get the new post?????? I’ve shut everything down and come back in and it still isn’t loaded. When I get there you’ll all have been chatting for 20 minutes…….:grr:

  179. peachesgooner says:

  180. London says:

No Peaches, I didn’t say hello I was just passing.

  181. JonJon says:

    hello everyone

  182. avenell says:

jonjon new post mate !!! lol
