Get on your Bike!

I think it was Norman Tebbit who said “if you want a job get on your bike” Well there was no defensive midfield jobs against Sunderland so Song and Denilson should have moved forwards and retrained to become attacking midfielders.

The thing I don’t understand is all this bollocks about each player has a “job”.

If Vieira never had any defending to do he would break forward and score goals, he was a footballer.
A DM when needed, a AM when needed.

If you put in 2 midfield players who only defend you take away from the attack..
For every action there is a reaction and all that. Thats why Flamini was so good last year, the attack broke down and he would bust a gut to get back and defend, once that job was done he would support the attack and quickly.

For 2 defensive midfielders to work we need to suck the opposition into our half and break quickly, like the team of 98″ with Overmars and Anelka. But we haven’t even got the palyers who can do that. We are a mish mash of slow attackers and holding midfielders  trying to pass the ball into the net.

Having said that we created loads of chances on Saturday and if one had gone in it would have been 4.  but that would just be wallpapering over the cracks at the moment.

I only watched the match on a stream and the highlight (singular) on MOTD but here is a rough match report and ratings.

Almunia.. 7.5 .. has looked good recently in front of a more solid defence, done a ridiculous Punch at one stage where he should have caught it easily.

Sagna… 7.5.. he seems to be taking the stick for our poor attacking performance, not really his fault we are just spoilt that the man is capable of both defending and attack and he was trying to do more than his share..

Toure… 7.5.. Looked solid in defence and even joined in the attack on numerous occasions trying  do what Denilson and Song didn’t even try to do.

Gallas… 7.. Solid as a rock but with little to do.

Clichy..6.5.. Not his best game in an Arsenal shirt, he is a fast attacker and he was made redundant by the system.

Arshavin.. 8.5 .. A brilliant debut from a player who hasn’t played since November. That was like a pre season match for him in terms of fitness, showed an eye for goal and very quick feet.

Song… 6… would have got a 7 but when I saw his laboured run to protect the defence he lost a mark solely on that.

Denilson.. 7.. Would have been okay with someone like Fabregas next to him, there is only enough room for one crab in the team, It seems like the penalty area has a force field around it that he is not allowed into, needs to take a attacking option now and again and do  a Short pass and run forwards to receive the ball back.

Nasri.. 7.5.. Not at his very best but if everyone was as creative we would have scored.

Rvp.. 7.. Missed a couple of chances that you would expect a so called world class player to take, talks the talk, needs to do the walk bit.

Bendtner.. 8.. Not a bad game at all, he has been looking strong and useful recently.

Vela.. …6.5..We were expecting so much after his Carling cup performances, His finishing was well off , Has wenger built the pressure up on the guy?

Eboue..7.. Looked lively but the team was finished with ideas by the time he came on. Thought he was in with a chance of an Oscar last night, but he cannot win anything at the moment.

Gibbs.. 7.5 .. On very late in the game, needs more starts..

A far better performance than some of the ones before Christmas, the scoreline would have been big if Arshavins first shot had of gone in as Sunderland didn’t need to attack us. That was the main plus Arshavin, he looks a player.

Come on you fishermen tonight!!!!!

    Morning Roadsters!

  2. JonJon says:

    nice ave,

its like a point i made yest, denilson and song are not complete midfielders, they cant do both defend and attack, its one or the other and we struggle because of it

vieira petit edu could all go box to box with ease, cesc is more of a playmaker but has the tenacity and brain to know when to defend, denilson and song just make up numbers, they cant create and they cant defend, its amazing that we havent conceeded more because songs ball retention, passing and positioning is attrociuos, the amount of times the defence has been under pressure because of him is endless and credit must go to kolo and gallas.

denilson couldnt unlock a defence if he had the skeleton key.

  3. avenell says:

Hi.. jonjon, Are you back at work yet?

Mr wenger needs to make a choice, play like spain or play like germany. This mix up of systems isn’t working.. I hope he takes the spainish option!

  4. JonJon says:

im back at work mate. too true. i just hope he realises that if he wants his side to play wenger ball again he needs to get rid of half this years team and replace them with players who will put bums on seats

  5. avenell says:

I’ve got a bit of work to do jonjon, are you about later on once you are sorted?

I am having trouble commenting coz I keep thinking that’s a good idea for a post, save it for a no news day.. lol..

  6. JonJon says:

yes mate im about, just holla, lol

  7. rico01 says:

Morning all, bit late I know, but stuff to get done, woman’s work and all that 😉

JJ – good to see you, how’s tricks ?

  8. avenell says:

AFTERNOON rico.. your normally up with the cock, er chickens. 😉

  9. JonJon says:

very good thanks rico, except for things arsenal.

    how are you???

  10. rico01 says:

Cheeky ave, i was up at just after 6am, the bloomin chickens have been naughty and jumped over their fence and pooped all over the patio!!

JJ – AFC are really worring me 😦

Otherwise, i am ok thanks, you have been missed 😥

  11. avenell says:

Haha rico you are the neigbour from hell, what with your chickens and your all nite parties.. 🙂

  12. Chin up Gooners, Within weeks we will see a midfield that could boast the likes of Fabregras, Arshavin, Vela, Nasri, Rosicky, Walcott, Diaby and Denilson.

Within that lot is a world class midfield 4(5)

  13. avenell says:

Hi stringfellow. in the champions league team will be a bit short. fabregas has at least 6 weeks to go, so will rosicky before wenger will start him, arshavin cannot play, he won’t start vela and diaby will probably pick up an injury or 2 in that time.. 🙂

  14. rico01 says:

shall i fetch me boots 😉

  15. avenell says:

Was you an adidas, puma or a nike girl?

  16. rico01 says:

Nike Tempo ave, still got them somewhere 🙂

  17. peachesgooner says:

    Hello roadsters

    how are we all today?

  18. avenell says:

The last pair of boots I bought was a pair of nike’s like charlie used to wear. I think they cost about £100 in 83″ .. suppose that’s like £400 today. I must have been mad lol..

  19. avenell says:

Hi peaches I am very well thanks.. have you met rico? 😉

  20. peachesgooner says:

Rico – other lady of the blog – we’ve got catching up to do. I shouldn’t be blogging – got an estimate to get out but I thought I’d look to see who’s around.

Did you watch the game saturday – very sad wasn’t? Arshavin looks like he could be special

  21. peachesgooner says:

Oh no shes gone – you’re right we could be the same person 🙂

  22. peachesgooner says:

I’m gonna get on with my work – catch up later. Might have to watch the spuds – oooh I hope they don’t win tnite, how mean am I 🙄

  23. peachesgooner says:

ave – we need to be able to record these hat-tricks you know, you may need to make space on the sidebar

  24. avenell says:

I’m going to get a digger in soon peaches, whats cool in the gardening world?
I’ve got to drain the land and I’m thinking of a small triangular lake or large pond.

  25. rico01 says:

ave – i got lucky, i used to manage a spots shop in my early twenties, and managed to get mine reduced !! that would have been early 80’s, wouldnt have paid full price for them at my level 😉

Hey peaches, i did see the game, on a link and then on sky, if only Robin had my Tempo’s on he may have known where the goal was – it’s coming and once we get that one goal, the confidence will come back – and i hope that is tomorrow. In the mean time, its really hard watching our wonderful team…

Trust you to come on when i have to go out for a while….. I hope to have a spare hour later, need a big diversion, so here is just the place to come

See you all in a short while, honest 🙂

  26. avenell says:

Both gone now.. it was always an ambition to have two in a blog.. 😦

  27. Matt says:

They were Nike Tiempo’s Rico – not Tempo – unless they did special girls ones! 🙂

I am a creature of habit – always wear Tiempo’s.. great boots. And black ones too… There was a day not many years ago that we would clatter any opposition players for wearing coloured boots… ah, the good old days. 😉

Saturday was mighty disappointing, and couldn’t agree more with you Ave – no need for Song and Denilson, we should of moved Nasri to the middle much earlier.

And Sagna had a bit of a stinker to be fair, they must of glossed over his performance on TV!

The only real positive was Arshavin – he did enough in the first 20 mins to suggest he is going to be a top player for us.

  28. avenell says:

Hi matt..Don’t forget it was one of our own who started the coloured boots thing off.

I reckon little jack could have unlocked that sunderland defence or he would have at least tried.

  29. Matt says:

I can tell you one thing Ave, if someone turned up in pink boots when i used to play on a Sunday morning, he would of got the classic tackle that Vinnie Jones made on Steve MacMahon in the FA Cup final all those years ago. 😉

I agree with you on Wilshere, i think he would be worth a try in the last 20 mins of games.

  30. avenell says:

haha I didn’t mean the pink ones. I meant little alan ball in his white hummels.

At school there was a kid who had a pair of the george best stylo matchmakers, he got some stick. I suppose all boots look a bit like them now though.
Only rico is old enough to remember them.. 😉

  31. kelsey says:

Only rico is old enough to remember them..

Ah ha, she is older than me,I think not :

Read your post, would say you were a little generous in your ratings, ave.Almunia saved our blushes. What I like about a half it AA is that he can shoot with either foot from outside the area,I hope AW doesn’t change his ways.I still think we bought him as an insurance for sicknote, time will tell.I am worried about Nasri, only scored in one of our last 12 matches. The players look burnt out,not sharp, and you cant blame the strikers for missing goals, all strikers do that, but the lack of opportunities because the engine room is missing,is making us an easy team to play against.I will say here and now,the only real clinical striker we have is Eduardo,as one can’t call RVP a true striker. The likes of nasri,Vela,Denilson,Diaby,Ramsey should all be understudies to better older players, but we don’t have them, therefore are we expecting too much, and then become ultra critical.Just a thought.

  32. kelsey says:

    half fit,not tit or it.

  33. peachesgooner says:

ave – you’d best invite me down to survey the scene!!!! Not quite sure how a small triangular lake fits into your beautiful landscape unless you have other triangles that you want to mimic 😉

You’d best send me some photos – how big is this pond gonna be? You should talk to Rasp about a liner and other aquatic stuff cos hes in the trade and he may be able to get you a good deal – especially if we’re talking lake!!!!!

  34. kelsey says:

Oh shit,i am getting myself confused.Add bedntner to that list.

  35. rico01 says:

    Hi Matt, Kelsey

Forgive my spelling Matt, The grey matter has affected my english 😉

Black boots – just the best, and good old Arshavin still wears them even though he is a star, I rememebr old squeaky and his red boots – a star man 🙂

  36. kelsey says:

I just told DDM that you were my sister,as he keeps copying my posts, and rephrases them :)and you would deal with him.

  37. avenell says:

I was waiting for a rico blog slap kels.. 😉

I probably started off a bit high with the ratings then, but like i say I only saw a stream and it kept freezing and MOTD was well MOTD..

Have you spoke to the man who strolls?
Has he been to your place before?
    Nosey f**ker me. lol..

  38. peachesgooner says:

    Hello rico, how are you?

I’ve just been trying to get an extra ticket for tmoro and the game is sold-out!!! Whats the attraction – it can’t be Roma surely 🙂

  39. kelsey says:

peaches you got in the way of my hat trick.Anyway you were offside,so I will claim it.

  40. peachesgooner says:

How rude of me – please accept my apologies kelsey 😉

Rico – are you there or not?

  41. kelsey says:

his wfirst wife and my first wife were good friends and they came to our wedding. That marriage lasted as long as a spurs manager. We have been in touch on and off since 1970.I think I may have missed him,but what i didn’t know is that he has a house 5 minutes away from me now, which he recently purchased.I went to the players only dinner the night we won the cup and double in 71 at the old portman hotel in Portman Square. That was a night always to cherish..

  42. avenell says:

Peaches.. The shape of the land is triangular, we have an old manege/sand school that we would like to keep has we get wild orchids growing in it and it is equine land as well.. I’ll e mail you a drawing and some pics it’s easier.. If you don’t mind.

Not sure if we need a liner as the water sits most of the year round and the soil is clay..

  43. kelsey says:

I think rico has the knack of cooking a meal and blogging at the same time, quite a skill in itself.Take note Eboue 🙂

  44. kelsey says:

I didn’t explain that well.i knew GG before i actually got married through the respective ladies,I am not that old.

  45. peachesgooner says:

you’ll know when you start excavating whether you’ll need a liner or not. does your water naturally feed from somewhere?

Triangular is very modern – is that the look you’re after? Although your site is triangular – with planting you can disguise those sharp angles and open out the space.

  46. avenell says:

When did you last speak to him?
I thought he should have took the portmouth job, he would be well suited there and he has another job left in him I am sure.

  47. peachesgooner says:

Personal shopper, Garden Designer, Ticket Fairy and blogger – I can claim all these 😉

Cooking while blogging – thats a great attribute 🙂

  48. avenell says:

There is a fishing lake in the land opposite on the other side of the road and it has changed the water course and our land acts like a sponge, we cannot cut the grass until about april then I have to go around with no box on the mower(I caught it alight doing it last year lol).

I was going to put a ditch at the top to gather the water then heve like a little stream running into a pond/lake then like a overflow ditch/stream going into the large ditch that runs behind us.

  49. avenell says:

You can get tickets peaches ooooh.. 🙂

  50. rico01 says:

I am here peaches, just been locking up the bad buggers – aka chicken 😉

now i need to read the comments to catch up 😉

  51. peachesgooner says:

Of course I can – but you’re in cornwall ave!!!

  52. avenell says:

Don’t read the old comments rico.. we have moved on.. 😳

  53. avenell says:

There is always the M5 and the M4 peaches. I would like to see a game soon.

  54. rico01 says:

Ok i wont then ave 😦

peaches – my fellow multi tasker 😉

  55. peachesgooner says:

Wow – sounds fab ave – send me a drawing and a photo.

When you say the top – is that the top of your land or the top as in near your house? I’m assuming a slope exists somewhere on the plot – running which way?

  56. rico01 says:

me too ave – we are red members, so i am going to save me pennies, get a ticket and head on down there…. thats a joke, there never seems to be any 😦

  57. peachesgooner says:

hey rico – wha’ya cookin tnite? My kids don’t get in till really late on a monday so I twiddle my thumbs and then its manic 🙄

  58. peachesgooner says:

ave – did you give up a season ticket?

  59. kelsey says:

are you talking to me ave ? if so i last spoke to him last summer buti just heard that frank mcclintock has been slagging off wenger on talkshite.I didn’t hear it myself, but i have met him several times and so has peaches,he is a gentleman,i can’t believe it.

GG has got pretty bad arthiritis now, don’t think he wants the hassle of management anymore,he must be 65/67 now.they get fortunes from sky doing the saturday special and other football related programmes.

  60. avenell says:

I must point out that although I have an acre of land we only have a ickle house.
We have about about 400m of road frontage where the water comes from. The point of the triangle is sort of on the left and the house is on the opposite end of the triangle, the depth of the triangle is about 150m deep.. it’s a bit hard to explain i will draw something and send it up to you and a couple of pics.

  61. kelsey says:

trouble is i know a lot of the old timers,in a football sense.Graeme Souness once was contracted by my company for an exhibition in Belle Vue, Manchester, while he was still a boro player.he was arrogant even then.

  62. avenell says:

I was kelsey.. that’s a shame Spain should do him good apart from it always rains.. 😉
I only listen to talk shite in the morning and when I cannot sleep.

No I have never had a season ticket, I went to most games in the late seventies to the early nineties when we could walk straight in. I only needed a ticket for the away games. I went self employed in 91″ and It took a few years to get on my feet as it were and by the time i could afford a season there was a waiting list.

  63. peachesgooner says:

When I met Frank McLintock – he walks in the same park as me so I see him quite often – he was definitely not of the AKB persuasion. He stopped to talk to me about the previous saturdays game which could have been Stoke away? – when the team selection was ridiculous, one of many this season and he felt that Arsene was being stubborn in his persuit of a team of babies.

  64. rico01 says:

peaches – home made leek and potato soup, with fresh home cooked granary bread 🙂

    what about you ?

Ha ha boys, we are talking cooking 😉

  65. avenell says:

I’m doing the washing up ladies.. It has taken an she’s going to kill me when she gets in. 🙂

  66. rico01 says:

    Dishwasher ave, dishwasher 🙂

  67. peachesgooner says:

You tell me when you want to come and I’ll do my best for you – I am gonna have a spare for chelsea, I already know that.

Raddy came for the sunderland game to see some goals and so did my friends from america. Their 6yr old came to his first game on saturday and told everyone yesterday at his birthday party that we won 2-0. Wish I was 6 🙂

  68. peachesgooner says:

ave – how can washing-up take an hour????

  69. avenell says:

New kitchen rico, new kitchen lol.. central heating, land needs draining.. I need money ! I’ll have to give up blogging and get a proper job.. 😦

  70. peachesgooner says:

rico – sounds delic, do you make all your own bread?

  71. peachesgooner says:

Being nosey – you can ignore me if you like – what does Nita do? I’m not being rude here cos you’re doing the washing-up 😳

  72. avenell says:

I like to let it soak peaches.. 😉 I have to light the fires now, roll on summer.. Barbies and beer!! yum yum..

  73. rico01 says:

Not all peaches, but when i have time i do, its good because you can keep a check on the salt and sugar level, and i use little salt and no sugar… And please dont think that i am being good, its so the chicken dont have too much 😉

  74. avenell says:

Peaches tbh nita does nearly everything..

she has taken her little girl for swimming lessons (lake is okay now). She also works in the swimming pool 4 days a week teaching kids swimming and she helps me with my signs buisness, she is a grafter!!

  75. rico01 says:

good job ave, you blog, stay up all night, take ages to wash up, dont paint vans when you are meant to, and dont get up until the afternoon – dont know why she puts up with you 😉

  76. rico01 says:

ave – you are right, get a job man 😉 😉

  77. peachesgooner says:

    No – i wasn’t asking rudely – i was enquiring if she had a career. Shouldn’t have started that one 😳 😳 😳

  78. rico01 says:

oops – have i said something wrong 😥

  79. avenell says:

    Peaches It’s okay no worries..

  80. avenell says:

    Rico job = wrong lol… 😉

  81. avenell says:

Nita used to be a profesional tin miner.. 🙂

  82. rico01 says:

i didnt know that – good ‘job’ i do know now 🙂

  83. rico01 says:

Well, I am a fire fighter in my spare time, and that is only because the better half burns the food when cooking 😉

  84. peachesgooner says:

Profesional tin miner – now thats a proper job. Is she from cornwall – i remember you telling us the story of how you ended up together so you don’t need to go down that route again 🙂 as its your blog!!!

  85. avenell says:

Haha during the war!! Yes she is, the stainless steel debate again 😉

  86. kelsey says:

i am having the dog’s dinner yet again 🙂

I won’t tell you what we are eating,as it might go against your principles(rico)

I think the greeks have the best idea, washing up,no way, they just smash the plates on the wall.

  87. avenell says:

    I can edit mine.. 🙂

  88. peachesgooner says:

Can you edit mine too then cos he’ll rib me for bad spelling 🙂

  89. peachesgooner says:

Hi kelsey – maybe she’s not looking, what you eating?

  90. avenell says:

Only if you will look at our garden!! lol..

  91. rico01 says:

there you are kelsey, thought you had gone –

is that not in the dog 😉 my principles are only mine my friend, please tell me, i bet its lovely 😉

  92. JonJon says:

good evening ppl, just waiting for the spud game to come on.

cant stop thinking about how much trouble we are in, i really doubt we’ll finish 4th.

ive had my fits and starts this season, 1 minute i think we are shit, the next things are rosey and now i think they are shit again, and i doubt i’ll change my mind again.

we are relying on our injured players to return hitting the ground running, once they are all back they have less than 2months to make a differance and we are then relying on villa or chelsea to slip up, but we cant score for toffee, our season is no longer in our own hands and theres too many factors involved in whether it will make it to 4th.

as far as im concerned its over and we are looking at the FA cup for comfort. roma will knock us out of the CL. we have no decent midfeild apart from nasri and roma will be almost full strength. we cant score against mediocre PL teams so how do we expect to unlock an italian defence???

  93. avenell says:

Are you talking about football or something there jonjon?

  94. kelsey says:

escalope milanese, with saute potatoes and fresh gren beans, followed by chocolate truffles.

  95. avenell says:

I’m trying to turn this into avenell road gardens.. it’s got a nice ring to it.. 🙂

  96. avenell says:

Kelsey that GG bloke looks a bit like the galloping gourmet.. Now if you remember him you are proper old like me.. 🙂

  97. JonJon says:

  99. peachesgooner says:

It was all down to glandular fever honest..

  107. JonJon says:

you lot are mad as hatters, lol.

  108. kelsey says:

and a spoonful of virgin olive oil dipped in bread every morning, does wonders for the digestion system.Very common practice over here.

  109. kelsey says:

it keeps us sane during this 20 year transition period going on at our club.

  110. peachesgooner says:

we love a bit of pesto sauce in this house, seem to be trying it with everything lately. Last nite daughter no1 made a very nice dish of peppers and cucumber cut up, heated up left-over rice with the pesto sauce stirred through. Think it’ll catch on?

  111. peachesgooner says:

kelsey – the favourite Orange Tree in you know where serves virgin olive oil with a dash of balsamic vinegar and bread while you read the menu.

I loved the galloping gourmet, he really loved the food and the wine.. 🙂

  112. peachesgooner says:

oh no my smiley didn’t work 🙂

  113. avenell says:

JJ – have you seen sagna’s interview on The boys want to win too – I feel sorry for them.

  116. peachesgooner says:

avenell – you’re doing it again and rasp isn’t here to rescue me 😦

I’m gonna grab something to eat see you in a bit.

    Yes Kerr is correct 🙂

  117. JonJon says:

of corse they want to win peaches, but they dont have it in them. i havent seen the interview yet unfortunately, but i will do soon.

  118. JonJon says:

ive just read something that says frank mclintock has done an interveiw on talksport and he said wenger has lost the plot, can anyone confirm this???

  119. rico01 says:

Blimey guys Graham Kerr, now that is going back 😉 The GG – now its Master Chef, how things have come on, And good old Mr Ainsley is a Gooner 🙂

kelsey – ali oli (spelling) was always my favourite spanish mayo, had it with everything, love garlic and we get through loads – its lovely BBQd aswell, especially on a scewer with Hallumi cheese, mushrooms and peppers – roll on summer indeed ave 🙂

  120. rico01 says:

JJ – I saw that too on newsnow, havent read it though

  121. avenell says:

It’s what kelsey was talking about earlier jonjon.. 6.07

  122. JonJon says:

cant see it myself to be honest, just wanted confirmation, them pricks at talkshite will do anything to dump a lorry load on us, hope it aint true though.

  123. raif says:

    what a load of rubbish..

Song he passes the ball and then just stands there walking. not reaction or a thought to even bomb foword once in a while.

every single attack we have ends up going side ways with the passing. we are predictable now and cant cross fo shit..

we will most likly go into the Uefa cup next season and some of our so called best players will fuck off with the shit players in our team not having anyone willing to buy them…

what worries me more come start of next season is still finding us with the same usless players from this season still in the starting line up, and not the much needed new faces we so need

  124. JonJon says:

raif i feel the same mate. its been the same all season, we have injuries we are young we lack killing instinct, well ffs do something about it then.

if we have another summer like last one after this season i’ll lose the plot, never mind wenger.

  125. rico01 says:

Here here you two, it cheeses me off too, big time 😦 But I think the summer will bring a big shake up

    How you doing raif

  126. JonJon says:

and let me add to your song comment, song passes to the opposition and stays in the final third walking.

  127. JonJon says:

if we end up in the uefa cup though the only shake up i see happening is all the top players leaving and song eboue denilson etc signing contracts for life 😦

eboue will end up captain and break the all time appearance record.

  128. avenell says:

nothing like a break to bring out the positives jj.. 🙂

  129. rico01 says:

JJ – now you stop that young man 😉

  130. raif says:

other then Arsenal stressing me more then anything else im doing fine thanks rico. i hope you are well.

Yes JonJon.. good to see you mate.. and God i lost count how many times we past Side ways the other day, even the better players are doing it now. not just Denilson….

we have no Power. no pace, no penetration, no decent crossing. no presence…

and the Whole dressing room is speaking french…

have you seen Eboue speak English?? its no were near as good as Arshavins and his been in this country for how long now??

  131. JonJon says:

haha, its reverse phsycology ave, im staying negative so if we do end up with something this season i will celebrate like its 1999. if we dont then i can say i expected it and it wont hurt as much. 😉

  132. avenell says:

Yea “young man!” shuffle shuffle shuffle “young man!”

sorry rico that’s a yellow lol..

  133. rico01 says:

    ave – hmmmmmm 😉

Ther’s no need to be down, I said young man……

  134. avenell says:

Reminded me of those harry enfield ladies again..
    “young man”

  135. JonJon says:

infact i from this moment on love song eboue and denilson, when i dont want them to play the play anyway so from now on i think they are the greatest players ever and i wont hear a bad word about them. then they might get dropped, on their heads, 😉

stop it young man you love them immensley.

  136. avenell says:

    bollocks the spuds have scored.

  137. rico01 says:

ave – i was thinking of ymca 😉

Right you mutley lot, i am off to catch up on Corry Norry, sad old gal aren’t I, I will catch up sith you all tomorrow, keep the discussion clean later please, I am easily offended when i read in the mornings 😉

take care you all, stay safe 🙂

  138. rico01 says:

JJ – I dont like them at all 😦

    Nighty Night 😉

  139. avenell says:

Ah got you now rico.. which one of us is the construction worker?
    night cheers!

  140. avenell says:

    YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!! hull have scored !!!

  141. avenell says:

hahaha there keepers don’t improve.. ever since barry daines lol..

  142. avenell says:

I’m going for a quad now .. Are you watching peaches??
    Not since supermac v cyprus..

  143. avenell says:

    Has there been 5 straight

  144. peachesgooner says:

oh no was checkin my emails – well done ave 😉

  145. raif says:

    yeay Hull 😉

i hope they get a winner

  146. JonJon says:

spuds are great i hope they win, song and denilson and eboue are the worlds best midfielders and i hope they play every single game. 😉

  147. avenell says:

You been hanging around with that paul mckenna geezer JJ ?

  148. JonJon says:

its my new philosophy buddy, im giving it a trial run for a few weeks and we’ll see what happens. 😉

  149. JonJon says:

i hope hull dont score from free kick

  150. JonJon says:

uri gellar eat your heart out

  151. avenell says:

I’ve got his phone number here.. nita’s ex done a sculpture for him.. avenell road gardens.

  152. JonJon says:

  153. raif says:

were has Bergkamp been? is he still M.I.A.?

im talking about the Blogger ofcourse lol

  154. JonJon says:

i know where is he, has he been about while ive been gone ave???

  155. avenell says:

Yes he put his hand on nita’s belly when she was pregnant with little one. I’ll send you a pic

  156. avenell says:

    Not of nita’s belly lol..

Raif hi mate I sent him an e mail and no reply..

  157. raif says:

AVE.. was he screaming “YOU CAN BEND THE SPOON” to the stomach lol

  158. JonJon says:

haha, thats awsome, right im off to bed, im into an early night routine now, its great. speak to you all tomorrow.

  159. avenell says:

Yea catch up soon jonjon! The spuds have sent you sleepy no doubt!

  160. raif says:

laters JonJ.. ill speak to you before i go to the game tomorrow hopfully 😉

  161. avenell says:

Arsenal draw at home and the spuds win away.. a great weekend that was then!

  162. rico01 says:

    Morning All 🙂

  163. kelsey says:

    Morning rico,
I can guarantee no one else is up yet.

  164. rico01 says:

Hi kelsey, peaches is up and about too

  165. JonJon says:

    bonjourno amigos

  166. rico01 says:

    Morning JJ 😉

  167. kelsey says:

have they spun you round and fixed your problem,I hope so.

  168. peachesgooner says:

    Morning gang

My internet had a wobble and I couldn’t post for a bit. Hope everyone is good today.

We have to score tonight – and not concede of course – we thought 0-0 was a disaster last season against AC Milan and it turned out ok 🙂 🙂 🙂

  169. rico01 says:

peaches – you been surfing too much 😉

    2-0 – Nikky brace 🙂

  170. avenell says:

Hey morning all, are we feeling positive?

everyone on the radio is writing us off.. I think wrighty done a good post on that last night.. 🙂

  171. kelsey says:

1-0 or 1-1 is the best i can crystal ball has overheated in the sun.

    Is Diaby fit.

  172. avenell says:

Morning kelsey.. diaby is in the squad.

That doesn’t exite me too much though, I have been dissapointed in him since the man u game.
I feel the same old midfield will start.. 😦

  173. Rasputin says:

    Hi avenell – roadsters

I read from last night’s posts that you’re considering creating a pond on your land ave – that’s my specialist field so let me know if I can help.

I should warn you that you should never build a pond with a liner in an area that is boggy or has an ingress of water. The only way to achieve it would be to create deep set land drain and soakaways, otherwise the liner will float up and it will be a disaster.

  174. avenell says:

    Morning Ras.

Yes mate we are building a pond. The soil is really thick. and a foot down there is clay. There is a fishing lake opposite and that lake is just lined with clay.

That lake is the reason we are building the pond, it has changed the water course of a stream and instead of the water running around the back of the land it is now just seeping through it. we get those reeds growing.

I was going to dig a long ditch (200m) to gather the water and then have another ditch cut at 180o winding into the pond, then an overflow out of that into the ditch where the water originally run (hope that makes sense).

  175. Rasputin says:

If the clay is of sufficient quality, you may be able to create a sufficiently water-tight layer by puddling the clay in the same way as Capability Brown did – you’ll just need a guy who is expert on the digger. Otherwise there is a naturally occurring mineral call Bentonite that can be mixed with the clay and that will amke it watertight. If you have a continual influx of spring water, then it is going to be quite cold and not ideal for growing the more delicate ornate plants. If however the ingress of vwater is run-off from agriicultural land it is likely to be inriched with ammonium nitrate and possibly contain herbicides, in which case it will be prone to heavy algal blooms and not suitable for fish. It would be a good idea to have the water tested and discover exactly where it is coming from.

  176. avenell says:

Funnily enough ras you have hit on a few more of the problems.
within 20 yards of the “pond” is the natural spring where we get our water from (£1 a year water rates)
The other reason for the pond and drainage is because the water from the land was getting into the spring.

The farmer 1/2 mile up the road was dumping raw sewage (stopped now) and ploughing it into his land.

When we tested the water for mortgage requirements it was contaminated. Our little girl had 8 times the safe amount of aluminium in her blood (she is fine now and we buy the drinking water in). The water coming into the land is drainage from fields although they are not farmed as much as hertfordshire and the water comes from a stream.. so both is the answer to your question.

  177. Rasputin says:

There is a danger that the pond could be a bit of an eyesore! No fish, only the more invasive native reed-type plants and heavy with algae.I’m a bit busy at work at the mo at work, but it seems that a stream to convey the water off site may be a better option – let me know as much detail as possible and what you would like to see from an aesthetic point of view.

  178. avenell says:

I’ll put something together with pics and email you ras.. there is no rush as the digger cannot get on the land until june at the earliest.

You will have to work with peaches on the project though.. lol.. and don’t fall out over it.. 😉

  179. raif says:

mad Jens lol…. i actully would have liked to have seen that lol

  180. avenell says:

Hi raif.. there was another one like a you tube clip where he grabbed the headband/alice band off one of his own players and threw it in the crowd because he doesn’t like them.. lol

  181. raif says:

haha lol.. think ill have to look for that

  182. peachesgooner says:

hiya – just checkin in to see how we all are.

ave – seems you’re gonna have the ‘A’ team working on your pond/stream.

I’m thinking that I don’t care who’s in the team tnite as long as they go for it. The stadium will be buzzing and if the boys come out traps the crowd will roar them on – i hope 🙂

  183. avenell says:

Hi peaches you are going tonight I hope.. 🙂

Yes I seem to have a crew on the project better than garden SOS ;).. Did that drawing make any sense? 😦
I can bore you with more!!!

As for the pond I thought you just dug a hole.. I didn’t know there was so much to it..:)

  184. JonJon says:

are we all looking forward to the game???

  185. avenell says:

I’m not interested in the game jonjon I just want to see the emirates lawn…. this is a gardening blog now.. 🙂

    Where you been?

  186. JonJon says:

ive been busy at work today, it was mad, i tried to get some blog time this morning and then i was swamped.

we have denilson and eboue in tonight, so we are in for a few laughs if nothing else, cant see us scoring though with that midfield

  187. avenell says:

Have you got time for a match report or a shared one? pretty please.. no one likes mine.. 😦

  188. avenell says:

I’m going to sit and pray for a miracle,, Eboue (2) lol.. mmmmmmmmmmmm arry christen her..

  189. kelsey says:

I asked you this morning if all was well with you,but you disappeared.

  190. JonJon says:

i’ll do a match report buddy, ive missed doing them, i’ll have plenty to say though if we dont get a result, it might offend 😉

i can see us going out of the CL tonight before the 2nd leg. we wont score and they’ll get two and leave us right up shit street, gallas is the only reason we havent conceeded, he’s been world class in the last few games, if gallas has a bad game tonight we are screwed, we need 10/10 performances tonight from gallas rvp and nasri cos i cant see anyone else giving us a performance that will get us a result

hope im wrong, fingers crossed toes crossed and alot of praying is in order tonight.

  191. kelsey says:

Arsenal team: Almunia, Sagna, Clichy, Toure, Gallas, Nasry, Denilson, Eboue, Diaby, Bendtner, Van Persie.

    no song 🙂

  192. JonJon says:

    hi kelsey,

sorry mate i started to reply but got swamped with work,

they did spin me right round baby right round, it was fun, im waiting on my results, wont be long now though, this week im led to believe,

    thanks for asking though buddy

  193. JonJon says:

i like song not being in there, but eboue denilson being in still worry me, romas strong point is there midfield, and thats our weak point.

if de rossi perota and aquilani are playing we will get turned over.

  194. JonJon says:

    does anyone like this team

    kolo jd gallas 3 cbs

    sagna clichy wingbacks

    diaby nasri jack cms

    vela rvp strikers

    3 5 2

we dont need a dm with 3 cbs and 2 wingbacks making a 5 man defence with out the ball

the 3 cms would provide enough creativity and support and we keep the threat of two strikers,

thats what i want to see.

  195. avenell says:

I posted that team before, well the back 5 with Sagna and Clichy taking turns to go forwards and the defence moving acroos to compensate.. It’s what kelseys avatar used to do in the mid nineties when we had a crap midfield..

  196. JonJon says:

    so u agree ave???

the three at the back look strong to me, kolo and gallas can man mark the strikers and jd can clear the high balls and any oncoming midfielders that our midfield dont pick up.

the three in the middle would be more creative and more of a threat and wouldnt have to worry about defending cos of the extra man at the back. it would be like giving them a free role, could u imagine nasri and jacky with a free role.

we’d still have the two strikers up front to pen the defence back. we’d be awesome going forward, wenger ball will flow freely.

  197. avenell says:

It also allows JD to be the DM if needed and JD or toure can carry the ball out of midfield too..

I don’t know if I like it a lot or all the time but it’s better than we had in some of the scoreless draws.
When everyone is fit I would go with 4-5-1 with Arshavin, Nasri and Rosicky taking it in turns in behind the striker within the same game..

  198. JonJon says:

i agree with that mate, i wouldnt do it all the time, especially when we have all our players back firing, but for tonight and for the next few games thats what id do.

we have injuries like everyone else but everyone else adapts, we dont, we persist with the same players in dodgy positions and its square pegs in round holes

fergie will change formation to suit what players he has at his disposal, wenger doesnt, he sticks to the same old same old and the players arent up to it cos they aint allowed to play to their strengths.

  199. avenell says:

Yes I see what you mean! I’m going to watch the game now as the tv is in the other room, see you at HT or when eboue puts the first one of his brace in.. Go Gooners!!

  200. JonJon says:

    go gooners, pls jesus!!!!!!

  201. avenell says:

What a difference it makes playing a playmaker behind the striker.. Do you think wenger reads this blog hahahaha lets pretend he does lol…

  202. avenell says:

Yes we had belief in the team and I played Nasri behind the striker because I read it on avenell road gardens.. I am thinking of a pond behind the goal at the north end of the emirates..and some planters next to the dug out..

  203. kelsey says:

so far so good.hope you saw what a great save almunia made.denilson is winning every tackle, but bedntner hasn’t got a first touch.rvp is the man.more of the same second half please,

  204. JonJon says:

bendtner has the 1st touch of a brick wall. three times he messed up when he was in the box.

im happy with denilson, hes a better player when he just sits and doesnt get involved in the attack

the full backs have been excellent and nasri has been everywhere, hes a better player when hes not stuck on the left.

im not saying a thing about eboue cos we have 45mins left but i love him alot. and song, and denilson, and bendtner, i love them love them love them they are the best

  205. avenell says:

Yes good save kelsey and good distribution.. left foot too,, better than jens.

Did you all watch the jens vids I posted? he’s a nutter.. 😉

  206. avenell says:

    Febuary 25, 2009 at 6.54am edit 😉

good morning rico you are a bit late this am.. lol.

  207. kelsey says:

    Morning all,

    The positives for me:
That we didn’t cocede and looked pretty organised in defence.Almunia was good and authoritive.Nasri was my man of the match,he obviously has a football brain and gave all for 90 minutes.Diaby at least for the first half, until he tired, added something extra, and of course RVP is a class act and intelligent footballer(thank god he played.)Denilson often critisized had one of his best games, and won nearly every tackle.

A second goal went begging, and if you consider that we will have more or less the same squad in 2 weeks,we are in for a different game away, remember they beat Chelsea 3-1 in November. That is a real concern, and i wouldn’t commit myself to the outcome.

The negatives for me,was that Bedntner(for a striker) just isn’t clinical enough, going back to the Burnley game,he has a good work rate, but his first touch is abysmal,as was shown several times yesterday.I can see why AW doesn’t start Vela yet.He is work in progress, and is still learning. The fantastic save by Almunia in the first half nly happened because yet again Clichy lost the player while back tracking, and was no where near him.

Ebous, really is an enigma. His positional sense is really quite good and finds open spaces well, but otherwis he is a disaster. His final ball doesn’t exist and the goal he missed will be played on U tube for years to come.

Just one player would have made the difference between the result and one or two extra goals.Eduardo, was clearly missed,he is intelligent and clinical and i am certain would have scored some of the chances Eboue and bedntner had, that didn’t even work the keeper and were nailed on goals.

The pundits in general thought we wouldn’t win,and hopefully we can build on that.

  208. rico01 says:

Morning All – kelsey, I agree, Nik, Eboue and Song, all need selling.. Eboue though played pretty good by his standards, I felf for him after his glaring miss, had he have scored that chance, the whole team would have perked up – sadly he didnt

    Dudu is missed
Dare I even say Ade is missed, he should be back for the away game, as will Dudu I hope

  209. avenell says:

    Hi everyone.

There was some good performances out there last night and we passed the ball a lot crisper and faster than we were doing.
The last 2 results haven’t been very good but there is a definate up turn in our overall game.
I was never the greatest fan of bendtner but I would rather we keep him than that other thundering oaf.
We need smaller more skillfull strikers Dudu proves that theory.

  210. rico01 says:

Hi ave – agree – David Villa 🙂

  211. avenell says:

As I’m only ickle, I have turned into a sizest. I have played football at a low level and anyone over 6’2″ you can run rings around them and tackle them piece of piss. They are like dinasaurs.
The only thing they are any good at is playing with the ball in the air and Arsene and arsenal don’t do that unless it’s a 20mins from the end plan “B”.
Spain showed the way in the euro’s..

  212. Rafa on the brink apparently !!!

  213. rico01 says:

    you short arse ave 😉

I am too, but i like to think i am just under tall 🙂

Stringfello, just saw that too, i would love it if its true, Torres and a few others would leave !!

  214. avenell says:

About the same size as Arshavin.. just better looking lol..

Rafa for Real!! at least the wenger rumour will stop for 6 months. 🙂

  215. peachesgooner says:

    Morning all

I’m not sure about this rafa thing – surely the already seriously in debt owners can’t afford to sack him!

  216. rico01 says:

    Hey peaches, how you doing?

  217. peachesgooner says:

Hi Rico – I’m good thanks and you? Don’t listen to any of those negative men, I’ve decided they don’t know how to have a good time!!!! I was thrilled with how the team performed last night – surprised that Eboue got a start but he played with so much energy that although he could have done better I think he deserved the chance.

It was a transformation from saturday when they couldn’t be asked. Denilson was awesome!!!!!

  218. Rasputin says:

    A’anoon Roadsters,

Peaches – the Rafa article is from your second fave blog…Timesonline….can’t be untrue 😉

  219. avenell says:

I was quite positive peaches.. does that make me less of a man? 😦

  220. peachesgooner says:

Roma were poor and it looked like they couldn’t be asked to tell the truth – I don’t remember thinking oooh hes good about a Roma player all game.

I thought Nikki worked really hard at his defending he took his job on the wing very seriously.

  221. peachesgooner says:

rasp – after you flagged it up I checked on news now liverpool and everyone seems to be treating it seriously. Can’t see it myself

  222. avenell says:

I’m stopping your first hat trick peaches as you ignored me.. 🙂

  223. Rasputin says:

As a mere negative man, I’d like to congratulate those who like to see us squander gold-plated chances on their ability to enjoy failure to score with style 😆

It comes down to the essential choice… artistic football V’s trophies…The Invincibles managed to combine both, but the current squad seems only able to produce glimpses of the former, although I agree that when AA, Cesc and Theo are back we will be capable of beating anyone. 4th in the prem and the FA cup will do me fine.

  224. Rasputin says:

Peaches – are you too polite to use the phrase ‘can’t be arsed/assed’ ?

  225. peachesgooner says:

sorry ave – I take it back, some men just don’t know how to have a good time 🙂

I go to football expecting us to win every game and play fabulous football aswell. It doesn’t always happen 😦 but when it does I’m delighted and I can’t understand the doom and gloom.

The tie isn’t over – we didn’t concede an away goal, we won the game, we created lots of chances …….

  226. rico01 says:

    Hi Rasp

Peaches, i am good thanks, i thought last night was pretty good, defensively, we seem so much better, and Almunia is nearly back to his best me thinks – willy and kolo have kissed and made up too 😉

I cant get excited over Nik, sorry, but i hope i am soon proved wrong…

Eboue – i wish he had put his chance away, so so much..

ave – mme, better looking than Arshavin, well he is graced with the good looks is he, so i hope you are 😉

  227. rico01 says:

    Hi Rasp

Peaches, i am good thanks, i thought last night was pretty good, defensively, we seem so much better, and Almunia is nearly back to his best me thinks – willy and kolo have kissed and made up too 😉

Eboue – i wish he had put his chance away, so so much..

ave – mme, better looking than Arshavin, well he isnt graced with the good looks is he, so i hope you are 😉

  228. rico01 says:

woops – isnt graced with good looks

    hatrick ???

  229. peachesgooner says:

rasp – of course I am.

You’re gonna tell me how naive I am to believe in the beautiful football arn’t you 😉

  230. avenell says:

I liked the attitude last night all the players working for each other crisper passing they all upped there game.
Seems like the premiership is to mundane for our highly paid players to break into a sweat.

  231. rico01 says:

the away goal is so important, and thats why i quite like it when we play the away game second, like you peaches, this is far from over, and we will go there, get a quick goal, leaving roma needing three, they will have to come at us then and will will destroy on the counter attack 🙂

  232. Rasputin says:

I love the beautiful football too, but we’ve been starved of that too for much of this season.

I agree ave about the work rate last night. Some of the players seemed to tire early on in the second half. I watched Nik and EE sauntering back when our attack broke down, whilst Nasri and Denilson had amazing energy.

  233. peachesgooner says:

Gone for a bit, need to apply some mascara to flirt with a fence maker – its all go being a Garden Designer you know 🙂

    Catch up later

  234. Rasputin says:

I agree about the away goal rico – it’s just that at 1 nil, if they score early next game, I think they will be favourites. If we had got a second, we could have approached the second leg with more confidence and 3 nil (which should probably have been the score) would pretty much be game over. Still, it is going to exciting at Roma, but don’t forget they have an excellent home record and the added bonus of knowing they will be hosting the final.

    hussey peaches 😉

I am off for a while too, ironing for me though 😦

  236. Rasputin says:

Belated ‘hi’ rico, sorry I’m forgetting my manners!

I do all my ironing and quite enjoy it – just let your thoughts take you to a favourite exotic location and it becomes less of a chore 😉

  237. kelsey says:

I am better looking than both of them, and just under 6 foot tall, but i am old enough to be their dad 🙂

  238. avenell says:

    and more modest.. 🙂

  239. kelsey says:

it’s all that rain over here, makes me blow things out of contention 🙂

  240. kelsey says:

I just got a text from my daughter who is in mexico with a couple of hundred Uni students for 9 days(at my expense)

“Hi Dad,lousy fight, hate everyone on the trip, the 5 star hotel is crap and I am constipated”
    love Poppy

  241. avenell says:

It’s raining here today, just started as I was going to do a bit of gardening.. oh well shame. 😉

go on what’s the temperature over there today?

PS your better off telling porkies or you may get a new neighbour.. 🙂

  242. kelsey says:

It’s most probably snowing where Geoff lives, but here it is 22 degrees, honest.

  243. avenell says:

I take you haven’t paid for all 200 lol..

It’s bloody expensive over there too isn’t it?

  244. kelsey says:

Actually,I am a little mental, but not that mad.Actually as it was a group flight they got a good deal of 850 euros each,,everything included, meals, drinks and excursions.

  245. avenell says:

Do you ever go to any footie over there kelsey?
Is seville your nearest “big” team?

  246. kelsey says:

Seville is an hour away,Malaga who are 7th this year(the highest for 15 years, and only got back up this season) are 45 minutes away and have a hard core support of 6ooo ex pats as their second team.Madrid on the new high speed train is 2 hours away, and Valencia 4 hours away.I think i explained my situation in an e mail to you,why i don’t go.

  247. avenell says:

Yes you did mate 😦 I wanted to go when I was over there but we only stayed a couple of days and then bombed up through the mountains to andorra.

  248. kelsey says:

My daughter studies in madrid, and the new high speed luxury train is discounted to anyone under 26. she pays 87 euros for a return ticket with a meal.A second class ticket from cardiff to Paddington on an old filthy train, takes 2 hours 40 minutes and costs 85 quid one way.

  249. peachesgooner says:

Hi kelsey – isn’t it wonderful to have children that tell it how it is!!!! How are you?

  250. kelsey says:

    Hi peaches,

I am fine basking in the rain.Children,ah bless them.

Just found this quote from a current PL manager, quite easy to guess

“It was the worst day of my life when England won the World Cup”

Ladbrokes are betting 2 to 1 on that Rafa will be gone by the end of the season.

A load of my friends have gone to Madrid (with free VIP tickets) from BWIN to see the game tonight.I would love to see liverpool thrashed, but they have this eerie uncanny way of getting results.

  251. peachesgooner says:

    Hiya – you still there?

Anyone know anything about the man u game last nite?

Tonight is going to be brilliant – real v pool and chavs v juve can’t decide which to watch. My son loves to watch them all together on the split screen!!!! Had to get another sky dish because of him.

  252. peachesgooner says:

avenell – just passing trade today then, you mght need to offer a cup of tea and a piece of cake 🙂

  253. peachesgooner says:

D’you know what, I havn’t had a hat-trick yet today and I don’t like to presume that this is gonna be one.

Is fergie the manager who said it was the worst day of his life when England won the world cup?

  254. avenell says:

Lol.. I am waiting for my partner in crime to write a new post.. cream teas down here peaches.. yuk!

how was the fence man? nudge, nudge, wink and all that.. 😉

  255. peachesgooner says:

You see, you just have to strike while no-ones about 🙂

rasp – tell me how to do that nice smile you do with the slightly open mouth?

  256. avenell says:

I know the man u fans were moaning that berbatov is a lazy twaunt..

  257. peachesgooner says:

    He was charming 😉 😉

  258. peachesgooner says:

were they, serves them right – I hope Inter knock them out, not like them not to score!!

How amazing if they don’t go through – I can fantasise cos rasp isn’t around 🙂 he’d probably roll his eyes 🙄 and question my naivety again 😉

  259. peachesgooner says:

Is a twaunt a combination of 2 words?

  260. peachesgooner says:

If you leave me alone I’m just gonna have to get another hat-trick 😳

  261. avenell says:

    Oh no not a supermac!!

  262. avenell says:

When does raddy get back home? I haven’t seen him post anywhere.. 😉

  263. avenell says:

    I cannot explain twaunt.. 😳

I am just a wee cornish boy! 😉

  264. Rasputin says:

Big brother rasp is watching peaches – I just thought you liked talking to yourself.

I don’t know what you mean about the ‘nice mile with the slightly open mouth’ – are you fantasising again? 😆

  265. avenell says:

Do you know Rachel de Thame? she’s a bit tidy… lol

  266. peachesgooner says:

    thats the one, thankyou 😆

Funny you should ask, I just texted Raddy, I think hes here till tmoro.

ave – the answer is yes then – you don’t have explain I wondered if it was a spelling mistake

  267. avenell says:

I was going for a quad then… would you care to take tea with me ras?

  268. kelsey says:

    it was fergie, well done.

raddy gets home on friday, avenell,we have a network within a network. 😉

  269. avenell says:

I know kelsey.. It’s like blogging with a secret society.. and I was blackballed.. 🙂

  270. kelsey says:

Anyone good at english. When I read various posts people refer to our defense/or defence. its defence isn’t it ? A defensive mistake, i believe is correct.

  271. peachesgooner says:

we have the famous rasputin he’ll know 🙂

Ave – Rachel de Thame will look like me in about 10 years 😆

  272. avenell says:

I think everyone has just taken one step backwards kelsey.. lol

  273. peachesgooner says:

I’m not quite as tidy as her – more Nigella than Rachel

  274. Rasputin says:

    Hi kelsey,

I believe defense is more commonly used in America and defence (as in ‘the defence’) is the way we usually spell it. Annoyingly, like a lot of ‘americanisms’ we deplore, their version is actually how it was originally spelt when me migrated across the pond. But language evolves and generally the septics bastardise it!

  275. Rasputin says:

that’s when ‘we migrated’ – me hasn’t been there yet 😉

  276. kelsey says:

I only asked as on all football blogs it is one word that is spelt either with an s or a c by nearly all posters.Shows you how much time I have on my hands 🙂

  277. peachesgooner says:

tell us about the blogging book kelsey

  278. Rasputin says:

I know kelsey – the only reason I had the answer is because I wondered the same thing and did some research a few months ago – sad aren’t we 😦

  279. peachesgooner says:

At least they havn’t changed the meaning – they’re awfully fond of doing that

  280. kelsey says:

you mean the one I mentioned on the other channel ?

  281. kelsey says:

I am a bit concerned that MG has gone missing, peaches, nearly 3 weeks.

  282. peachesgooner says:

I hope Claudio Ranieri gets a good reception at the bridge tonight. I wonder if they sold out – they’re always advertising tickets for sale for their champions league games on the radio cos they hardly have any support for them.

  283. peachesgooner says:

oops, yes, I forgot where I was. Do you mean GM kelsey?

  284. kelsey says:

yes, sorry GM, and which book ?

  285. kelsey says:

We were discussing a book Tim Lovejoy brought out about the type of people who blog on internet football sites and alike, but it wasn’t very complimentary, yet on his weekly night show on Radio 5, he is big at advertising the fact he is on Twitter, with a huge following.

  286. rico01 says:

    Knock knock 😉

  287. kelsey says:

    come in 😉

  288. kelsey says:

Been very busy this afternoon on both channels, rico.handbags, dogs, keeping the peace, more dog training advice, pheeeew

  289. kelsey says:

  290. kelsey says:

    Enjoyed talking to myself. Laters.

  291. JonJon says:

  292. avenell says:

  298. rico01 says:

    How is everyone?

    Fuck off Avenell……..;)

  300. avenell says:

    Fuck off wrighty.. 🙂

I thought the old everest game would be a bit dead with the winter time and the credit crunch….

  301. rico01 says:

    Hi Wrighty –

    Chelsea 1-0 up 😦

  302. Wrighty7 says:

The Everest game aint too bad at the moment mate, fingers crossed!

    Enjoyed watching Arsenal last night!

  303. avenell says:

We definataly looked crisper last night buddy.. Do you think the players are struggling to raise there game in the premiership?

  304. rico01 says:

that was short and sweet, be back tomorrow, have a good evening 🙂

  305. JonJon says:

its from 2 weeks of living with an old lady ave, lol, you start drawing the curtains at half 7 and your in bed by 7.45 lol

have a look chief see what u think

  306. Wrighty7 says:

I can’t put my finger on it Avenell.

Perhaps the difference is that all the teams in the Champions League are top quality and most don’t put ten men behind the ball.

Lets face it, nearly every team in the Premiership do it to us and we have struggled to break them down.

All except Manchester United and Chelsea and we beat those two!

    Another reason is our leatharic

  307. Wrighty7 says:

lethargic approach to games!!!! ha ha

  308. JonJon says:

hey wrighty how are ya pal??

i thought we were good last night, but we should of finished them off in that spell we had when they were all over the place.

that might come back to bite us in the arse.

  309. Wrighty7 says:

    Hello Jonjon!

I’m good cheers matey? How are you??

I’m in the same boat as you mate, I hope it doesn’t bite us on the arse!

I think we will win the Champions League though mate!

  310. JonJon says:

    im good thanx mate

i think ive had this conversation with u before on your blog

we are a better cup side this season, our style suits the european stage better, the only obstacle is barca and if we do get them i want them in the final.

  311. avenell says:

    looking good jj 🙂

  312. rico01 says:

Morning all, how are you today… May hear from one of you fine folk before lunch, my bet is it wont be avenell 😉

  313. kelsey says:

    3 guesses rico 😉

  314. rico01 says:

knew it would be you my friend, how are you ?

  315. kelsey says:

Fine as can be.Looks like we may be keeping Jet for a while longer.

We are definitely the morning shift as opposed to the late night shift.Did you read over the posts on the other channel,i have become the arbitrator. 🙂

  316. rico01 says:

I didnt read back kelsey, but good for you 😉

I love the mornings, especially now as we over here head towards Spring, the birds are singing, and very busy in the garden building their nest’s, the light mornings are so much better, and no more snow and ice, it keeps me sane ! 😉

  317. kelsey says:

interesting rico, but one of our strikers would have to go,and that would be nic, though i would prefer ade to go.All a bit complicated, but I don’t see both Ade and Nic with us next season

  318. rico01 says:

I dont mind if they are not kelsey – we need scorers and unless they change pretty quick, then i think sell them both

  319. avenell says:

I’m going to stick jonjon’s new post on..

    I hope he has finished

  320. rico01 says:

    Afternoon Avenell!!
