Come In Number 27 Your Time Is Up!!

Well what can be said of Eboue that hasn’t been said. He shouldn’t be seen in an Arsenal shirt again. I tried as did many others at the start of the season to try to like him, but he has gone too far this time.

emmanuel-eboue-120x120-en1                                                                                                                          Sorry Arsene this is one experiment that you need to give up on, EE must be sold, it has got to the stage where you are flogging a dead horse, if the referee had of given him that goal yesterday his Arsenal career could have had one last chance, I am now starting to feel sorry for the guy now because of the torture Mr Wenger is putting him through.. Cash in or just let him go!!

Onto yesterdays match.. We was all disappointed because we all wanted to beat them spuds so much, but judging by the lack of text messages from the spuds that I know, they were disappointed more than us, The “homecoming” of there Dipper reject Keane and against 10 men.

The game went as usual the Spuds getting out of the traps first with there wild football, then the class of Arsenal started to tell. We started to create chances. The best of which unbelievably Eboue scored. Then for some reason I have still to be convinced of why the goal was disallowed, Eboue got a pat on the back from the ref and this started the beginning of the end for Eboue.

He talked his way into his first booking, then a kick out on rat face and he was off,  this was just after Ade went off, we now had our no 4 striker on and the chance of seeing Arshavin later on in the game was gone..

We just battled our way through the second half but we needed that extra player.

Almunia…8…. Superb performance today, saved a few decent shots and punched some crosses well clear of his area. His kicking deserves some credit too, far better than the Mad German he replaced.

Sagna……7.5….. Good battling display from him considering it was the player in front of him that got dismissed, done well to get forward as much as he did.

Toure…..6.5… Played okay and with his usual heart but his clearances, and marking need to be tightened up.

Gallas…. 7….   Very solid, he cleared up behind, Clichy when Lennon was giving him a roasting, hardly noticed him really, that’s a compliment.

Clichy…. 6.5…. He is as mad as they come, all heart and running , but Lennon had the better of him on more occasions than normal, luckily Lennon cannot cross a ball.  Looked a bit rough when he walked off, hope he is okay!

Eboue… 1.5.. Sorry mate your Arsenal career is over…

Denilson..6.5… Had his usual battling game, need to put on some weight for a player who is 5′ 11″ get thrown about too easily. He will look better with more quality around him. All good experience though.

Song…. 7.5… Lost the ball on several occasions but heh he isn’t the first player ever to lose the odd ball. Some surprisingly good penetrating passes and shielded the defence very well in the second half.

Narsi….  7.5..   Our brightest attacking spark today, looks better in the middle and I like that little nasty streak he has in him.

RvP…. 6.5.. Not his best game, but he had to work far harder than he would like as he and Bendtner had to drop into midfield area’s when we went down to 10 men.

Adebayor…. 4.. He got a 2 for not getting sent off and the other 2 for going off injured, that was the best thing that he done all game.

Sub.. Bendtner.. 7.. Played pretty well, tries to be a bit of a Georgie Best but he is too tall for that, needs to win more headers and use his height and strength more. but not a bad performance..

Manager.. 5…Mr Wenger obe…  Nearly pulled off a masterstroke with Eboue but it backfired big time.. needs to trust the players like Vela and the like more..

As they say.. Things can only get better and I am sure they will. Bring on Cardiff!!

Some real sad news coming out of Australia this morning. My thoughts are with you guys over there!

Come In No 27….???? Get Out No 27 !!

Sorry, Morning All, enjoyed the post ave, and I thought Song had a bloomin good game. His passing still went astray a little, but he made many important tackles which broke the spuds down just before the penalty area.. the boy did good ..

After the twurp went off, it was always going to be difficult, but considering the money spurs have spent, they had little to really offer.

We need our crocks back, and soon, but I still hold out hope that we will be ok for 4th at least 😉

Busy day again, but i will be around to annoy you a bit more 😉

  2. avenell says:

Morning rico.. be good to have you around a bit more this week.
Did you hear the rumour cesc may only be three weeks away mmm. Be nice to get him back for the hard PL games and the champions league run in.

  3. rico01 says:

I did see that ave, he says for the Roma game, that would be great – I think we miss Theo, he has been slated by many but we miss his pace, and direct play towards the goal. A midfield of:-

Theo Song Nasri Arshavin – Right now would be good,

    Bac Kolo/JD Gallas Clichy

    Theo Song Cesc Nasri

    RvP Arshavin

Not a Nik or Eboue in sight – mmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeee

  4. avenell says:

yea I like that rico.. I would like to see theo swap places with arshavin during the game as he needs to be a striker now. He is also too direct for my liking as a right winger as no one else keeps up with him.
he would have been deadly yesterday with the spuds pushing forwards.

  5. rico01 says:

agree ave, bobby and freddie used to swap all the time and it really upset the oppo, theo just needs to believe in himself a little more, with his pace he needs to cut in more from the wing and go for goal – once he gets a goal or two i think he will progress rapidly – henry struggled to begin with, but once he started to be more direct, well, we know the rest

  6. kelsey says:

    Good summary avenell.

I watched the rerun of eboue’s first yellow.Firstly the ref told him to cool it 3 times before he actually booked him, though quite honestly there wasn’t much wrong with the goal, many refs would have given it.

You make a point, that i have been saying for a long time.Too many of our players need to bulk up and we have quite a few small players.

I watched the 1999 campaign last night on Arsenal TV and a few of our lads could learn from Overmars,or perhaps thay aren’t technically as good(yet).

I think wenger would have used Eduardo or even AA for part of the game, but his plans went out of the window with the sending off.Having said that,we looked the more composed side in the second half, and spurs really are a poor side.

We have scored once in 4 games and our shots on target per game is pretty me that shows how much we miss a “General” in other words cesc.Tha attacking side of our game has gone from forwards to sideways.

  7. avenell says:

    Thanks kelsey.
Cesc is going to make so much difference when he comes back, I have said it before but cesc oils the arsenal machine, but before he got injured a lot of the cogs were taken out so it made him look bad as he is not a match winning player like gerrard.
But with AA and theo and even rosicky coming back we will finish this season looking more like our arsenal.

  8. without the big lump upfront breaking up moves, we should have a lot more chances on goal from now on aswell.

  9. rico01 says:

Mr Stringfellow, surely you don’t mean Ade ?? 😉

  10. rico01 says:

    you all snoooooooozing ZZZZzzzzzz

  11. yup i mean that useless lump badeybayor.

read my blog for further views.

  12. avenell says:

Ade was always a good plan “B” striker but because of the quality of our midfield last year making him look good, he has ended up as our overpaid plan “A” and seems to have fooled mr wenger.
I could handle the useless if he wasn’t sooo lazy.

  13. avenell says:

SSN… scolari has been sacked.. lol
perhaps they want big tone! 🙂

  14. rico01 says:

Just saw that ave – thats amazing isnt it, could be good for us though 🙂

  15. avenell says:

Where are they going to look next?

    sven perhaps!

I wonder if they have heard man city are getting rid of hughes and want first choice of who is available.

  16. Rasputin says:

    Hi Roadsters…….

I guess everyone knows by now that Scolari’s been sacked. Not particularly good news for us I think and an indication of how seriously they take the prospect of not getting into the CL!

  17. Rasputin says:

I reckon they may get Gus Hiddink

  18. avenell says:

Ray Wilkins in temporary charge.. lol..

  19. rico01 says:

hi rasp – me too, hiddink or maybe bilic 😦

  20. Rasputin says:

The difference between us getting above either chelski or villa will be turning draws into wins. The new Chav manager will have the sole aim of keeping them in the CL – presumably at our expense. We have to beat them at the Emirates. I think villa are a good well balanced side and will qualify for the CL – we may have to win it 😉

  21. Rasputin says:

Our goal difference is the worst of the top 5, manu 31, pool 25, villa 16, chavs 29, ars 13…so we are unlikely to pip chelski on goal difference if the points are equal. We need 2 clear wins more than them or some combination of draws to be points clear.

  22. rico01 says:

Got to go guys, catch you later 🙂

Rasp – thats it, we will win the CL 😉

  23. rico01 says:

just a thought – lets hope they try and poach martin o’neil 😉

  24. Rasputin says:

I like your style rico 😆 ..later

  25. Rasputin says:

I’d prefer it if they spitroasted Martin O’Neil

  26. avenell says:

    see you later rico..

I think this is bad for chelsea, a panic move I don’t rate there players anymore and this shows a lack of confidence.
We have a good easier run now rasp and we have the AA man and within a month we could have all our players back.

  27. Rasputin says:

I applaud your optimism avenell, but the fact is we have to rely on others to lose to get into the CL now, and every game from now onwards is going to be like a cup final. All of the prem teams are either fighting relegation or trying to get into europe – there really are no teams safe in the middle of the table so we can expect a lot of ugly ‘park the bus’ football for the rest of the season.

  28. avenell says:

I’m remaining optomistic mainly because of Arshavin, mr wenger has had his hands tied as far as team selection to a degree for 3 months now.
He won’t play eboue again and the defence is a lot better as is the togetherness in the team.
there is no point in being on a downer, we all wanted wenger to act and he has.

we will just have to wait and see if it’s enough, but we have to give him a chance first.

  29. Rasputin says:

I agree on all that except for the ‘hands tied’ thing – I think AW has had options other than a midfield containing Song, EE and Denilson, but has chosen them over more talented footballers…a sort of conservative/stubborn option. I’d love to think that we won’t see EE on the pitch in midfield again but past experience suggests that he will feature again and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play in the CL….

  30. avenell says:

I know what you are saying about our midfield, we all would like Ramsey, Vela and wilshere step up and win games for us.
But we will never know, it would be nice to have seen them, but the fact that rest of the team are not on top form doesn’t help. It would have been easier to break into the arsenal team 4 years ago because they were good enough to carry a passenger if it didn’t work.
I thought we were talking top 4 PL, you are right about champions league EE27 may well feature 😦

  31. Rasputin says:

I can’t get my head round how well the kids played when they destroyed the same Wigan side that the ‘1st team’ struggled to overcome in the league. I know it’s that ‘youth has no fear’ factor that allowed them to play with such freedom and we saw what the pressure did to poor Ramsey at Cardiff – as you say, we’ll never know….but it might have been worth a try…..

  32. Rasputin says:

Also, I’d add Coquelin and Merida to your list of Ramsey, LJ and Vela if you were really going to ‘experiment’

  33. Rasputin says:

Nice chattin avenell – I’m wending my way home now to batten down the hatches…there’s snow and gale force winds forecast up in the ‘artic

  34. avenell says:

cheers rasp take care mate.. we just have rain and more rain.. 😦

  35. kelsey says:

I have to side with Rtasputin. We really have a fight on now.Chelsea sack Scholari because Abramovich wants instant success and all the money in the world may give you that short term, but not dominance.Football is changing at a rapid rate, and i for one don’t like it.Spurs change their manager once or twice a season, and look where they are.

We have to face the consequenes. We are a stable club financially, but soon a time will come when we will have to sell out to remain competitive, and that maybe the undong of Wenger. Our squad is small and lacking quality in depth, something will have to eventually give or we might have a number of years in the wilderness.

  36. peachesgooner says:

    Hi roadsters

Rasp you take care battling those winds heading to ‘Artic regions.

Andy Gray said something interesting on the Final Word last night after the man u game. He said that he believes that AW is forging ahead with a newer Wengerball. He said that the surfaces are better and faster and that helps players and play that is fast and creative. Thats why AW didn’t buy a defensive midfielder but bought another nippy creative player in Arshavin. The midfield/centre forward combo of 6 players who would play either 4-2, 5-1 or 3-3 depending on the opposition and could be interchanged at any time in the game. A very flexible set-up. He felt that there would never again be a Vieira, Petit, Gilberto type player at Arsenal.

Rasp and I did already blue-print this plan last summer when we talked about how all the creative mid-fielders would fit into the team. Makes for very exciting football – all we have to do it score one more than the others 😉

At the moment it would be good to score at all 🙄

  37. raif says:

Eboue is a Joke. and a Fucking Clown..

and im suprised at the sacking of Big Phil.

this is Nikki-B’s chance to step up while the Togonator is out…

  38. avenell says:

no probs kelsey.. it always goes back the the same 3 arguments though.
have we got/will we have money?
    will the youth system work?
what sort of a club do we want arsenal to be?

It’s down to patience I guess and this crop of players are pushing it in favour of change.
but we will see no doubt.
I’d rather the arsenal way, than the chelsea and man city way.

Hi peaches that “artic” is a silly herts misspelling/saying, has rasp said? lol..
Hi raif how are you mate?

  39. Big Raddy says:

That is very interesting Peaches. I can see that happening, especially if we have mobile CB’s like WG and JD.

The youth experiment will def work Avenell. I am sure of it. In 3/4 years we will have a fine team. We already have the nucleus, what is missing is the DM, but if we follow Peaches idea, we won’t need one.

I am currently enjoying a fantastic Reisling, and will drink a toast to the return of Cesc as quick as poss. We really, really miss him.

  40. avenell says:

Hi raddy, I like the youth experiment too, but it was nice to buy a big name last week.
If we can sell the dregs of the experiment off and but the odd big name out of the proceeds then that’s great.
I always wanted alonso not a DM either, we defend as a unit and attack as a unit.

  41. Big Raddy says:

Me too Ave. I was gutted when we didn’t land Alonso. He would have made a huge difference to this team.

There is a lot of deadwood in the squad, and I would rather we sold 5 average players and sign one quality DM/GK.

Arteta would be nice, if we can’t sign Alonso. Though he was poor against us at Goodison.

  42. raif says:

avenell hi there mate. im good. just watching a program with the missus, 🙂

  43. Rasputin says:

    Hi again Roadsters,

Just got in and I’m out again soon to the Little Munden Cricket Club AGM……One thing is for sure, it will be mighty close at the end of the season and may well be down to one or two pivotal moments. It could be a ‘Darren Bent open goal miss’, a ‘Mike Rileyism’ a substitution too late or the magnificent contribution of EE yesterday. I hope the 2 games against the spuds and conceding 2 late goals to villa do not coe back to haunt us.

As for the kids experiment, It would be ridiculous to bring on a generation of young players all at the same time and to wait 3 – 4 years for them to mature. The way manu do it is best, and as avenell said earlier, it is easier for young players to integrate into a side where there are experienced quality players alongside them – with us, often we expect the youngsters to make up for the inadequacies of the older players and that is not right.

  44. avenell says:

Cricket looks a long way off at the minute ras.. lol

I see SWP got a 3 match ban today for that “tackle” by the way. Still haven’t looked at the alonso on cesc one.

  45. kelsey says:

I just watched the game again,I must be mad.Gallas was outstanding,Song after the opening 20 minutes played well, and generally considering that Wenger had to change any plans he had later on for the game, after the sending off,we contained spurs quite well.Denilson to me was a weak link,he isn’t progressing as i thought he would and Almunia(who I do sometimes doubt) had a fine match.

  46. peachesgooner says:

Hey Raddy, thanks for the support – I’ll pop round to AW and tell him the plan is approved 😉

I do love the idea of attacking as a unit and defending as a unit. It needs everyone on the pitch to be good communicators otherwise spaces appear. Thats where you need the experienced players – I don’t think you can expect the young ones to be shouting/talking to each other all the time. We know that Cesc isn’t particularly vocal whereas Senderos was. Its a fine balance.

Good communication also needs a common language which often our young players may struggle with – we all know the stories of the back line speaking french to each other. I havn’t got a problem with that – any communication is better than none.

  47. avenell says:

It sounds like I wasn’t too far out in my marks then kelsey. It is a lot harder to watch a game and do a match report.. lol..
Denilson will go back to being cesc’s back up hopefully.
Did you think Sagna played well considering he lost the player in front of him?

The other thing I heard on SSN clichy will be fit for monday so that’s good news, although I quite like gibbs..

  48. kelsey says:

Sagna was fantastic last season from his first match(as if he had been there for years) he not quite as good at the moment, but that may be because of the constant changes in defence.Needs to practice crossing.

peaches, Almunia swears to the defence in spanish.he says no one understands him,but it makes him feel good.

  49. peachesgooner says:

Rasp – I agree that its not ideal to have a squad of inexperienced young players – Hleb did a runner, Gilberto was passed his prime and Flamini didn’t want to stay either. Added to that Gallas wasn’t a good leader.

Who was left? Unfortunately Eboue was one of the more experienced players!!!!

    How a plan can back-fire 😦

  50. peachesgooner says:

kelsey – Almunia will make a fine keeper for england then won’t he 🙄

  51. avenell says:

Good debate and posts today from everyone cheers guys and gals!!! 🙂 🙂

  52. Big Raddy says:

    Rasputin. (Russia’s greatest love machine)

I wasn’t suggesting that we rely on a the team coming good in 3/4 years. Just that they will mature at that time and we will have a much improved squad.

I think the signing of AA is inspired, and hopefully one of three signings.

We desperately needed a figurehead for the club. Someone the kids can think ‘wow, I am training with him’. We lost that when TH, RP and DB left. True World class quality.

As you say, we need a balance between the kids and experience.

  53. rico01 says:

    Coooooooo Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Morning All

  54. avenell says:

Morning all, just looking around for some arsenal news and there isn’t much about..

I’m reading that we may be going back to the 82′ green away kits next year.
I had my original one nicked from a campsite in sailsbury on a cycling holiday… 😦

  55. rico01 says:

    Good Morning 🙂

Bischoff grabbed two goals for his nation last night then, hope he gets a game against Cardiff

  56. Rasputin says:

    Morning all,

Big R – sorry I didn’t reply to your post the other day, I’m in total agreement on all your points.

Looks like your russian correspondent was right with his Gus Hidddink prediction 😉

Good news Bischoff has found his scoring boots – I’d like to see him anmd Coquelin play some part against Cardiff.

  57. avenell says:

Morning all.. yes good news about bischoff, we need to get him on a deal now by the sound of it. If I remember rightly he only came on a short term deal to prove his fitness.

  58. no chance of bischoff getting a game against cardiff.

ramsey is ahead of him in the pecking order.

  59. avenell says:

Hi mr stringfellow.. A tad quiet on the international week.
How do you feel about supporting the england team, that is full of chav’s scousers and man scum?
    Bit of a loaded question

  60. Will support the team tonight as always, but without much passion.

    International friendlies are a bore.

Expect a real bore draw tonight.

  61. avenell says:

I had that gravatar problem. somewhere in your settings (dashboard) you can delete your old ones then it changes.

  62. raif says:

thats were he can change his Avitar..

  70. avenell says:

When I done that a few months back raif. I could see my clock (avatar) on my computer, but when I was posting it was different, that’s why I don’t change mine anymore.. 😦

  71. raif says:

    hmmm thats Odd..

as i havent had any problems to be honest. my Comment posts are all the same Avatar.

after just looking on the Bashboard. the Gravator, is the Avatar that we get showing next to our Comments,
