Following on from a conversation yesterday between Franchise and London, they touched upon a point I was going to write a post about, but was having trouble structuring, but it prompted me to have a bash so here goes..
When we had a team full of world class players, Vieira, Bergkamp, Pires, etc, we reached the Champions League final just as that team was breaking up.. But at their peak that team or Wenger’s teams before them never really achieved what they should have done in Europe, going out in the quarter finals etc on a regular basis or not qualifying past the early stages.. Okay we were the best in England every now and again.. Which was nice!! But were we Champions or runners up of the 3rd strongest League in the world?
These days the Premier League is the strongest in the world, the anti has been upped and we are 3rd/4th in that and also regular Semi Finalists in the Champions League, which brings me to the point..
It is really a series of questions for debate..
Are we actually any worse in real terms?.. In fact I would say we are relatively stronger than we were when we had all the big names..
All teams in Europe can pick from the same pool of players.. We used to be in the top 16 in a good campaign in Europe.. now we are top 4.. So although we haven’t picked up any silverware, I suggest this is because our domestic League is far stronger.. That makes our League the hardest to win in the world.. Unlike it was in “98″ the good ol’ days..
So from having world class players who only made the best 16 in Europe we now have crap players who are now getting us up to the dizzy heights of the top 4.. How does that work then???
If we had “crap” in our team like Ade, Denilson, Song, etc .. and we are better than 5 years ago that must mean that some of our players are far better than our best players were back then, to make up for that deficit..
Another point is these players who are performing at least as good as the invincibles were virtually unheard of, so perhaps it sort of makes us feel inferior as supporters that the other teams seem to pick up the expensive signings and we don’t, but because our players are young and we haven’t been watching them play for other clubs on a Tuesday or a Wednesday night for the Meeelans of the Humbugs of Italy before we bought them, do we think of them as not as good as the players other clubs pay £10million or more for??
So Arsene Wenger OBE has made us a top 4 club in Europe.. he has made us a top 4 side even with Song in it.. He has done this spending less than £3 million pounds a year on transfers.. (after the comings and goings) .. We also have a stadium to be proud of..
But we haven’t won the cup of the strongest League in the world.. I suggest we are as good as we was… but the goalposts have moved..
Where we are going against clubs that are not generating their finances within football I will save for another post.. But my feelings on that are quite depressing..
If that made no sense, I am sorry I wrote it under the influence.. lol..
Makes a lot of sense, but I doubt that will appease some of the “cup half empty” fans!
Morning Ave,
Though I know you are still in the land of noddy.I have to disagree with a lot of your post, but in the immortal words of London, i will get back to you shortly.I need to digest this first, rather than hurry an answer without due consideration.
morning all.
block6gooner welcome…
the main thing for me, what i always look at…is that we HAVE spent just as much money as the likes of chelsea and manure in the last few year….
only its gone into a new stadium and not the team….
looking from my half full glass as irish puts it….i would say we are doing rather well considering the new challanges that we now come across in the modern game….
but looking fom my glass half empty….we were told whn the stadium was planned that it was going to put us in the position where we could compete with europes top teams for transfers and wage demands…
the leagues harder now….but we dont make it any easier on ourselves by giving all the youngsters top top wages and still looking for basement bargians in the transfer window…
we have done the right thing in termsof securing our future but there has to be a balance…
id rather have 11 class players in the team on 80k a week than 22 average 19-20 year olds on 40k… if you get me???
Morning Roadsters,
Ave, the lack of football news has led us all to trawl out memory banks to try to make sense of our recent seasons. I think if someone else had written your post, you would disagree with most of it….. so well done for sparking what I am sure will be a long and passionate debate.
I agree the stats show that our present set up is more effective in europe than the invincibles. I agreed with you in the past that very few of our current players would get into the invincibles side. Maybe we’ve done better in europe because it has been far and away the main focus of Arsene’s thinking to the detriment of the prem and the FA cup performances?
Morning kelsey
That made me laugh…..actually I agree the post does need considering. It is not something you can just add a throw away comment too; it is quite profound. I wonder if he was under the influence of drink or something a bit more exotic.
Hi JonJon,
We have sacrificed some inspirational brilliance for clinical efficiency (except for the dfence in the prem
)
The hard truth is that we fans come way down the list of priorities in running the club/business and that’s the way it has to be for our long term survival. AA’s arrival reminded us of how great it is to have world class players. Recently, whenever one of our fledglings has looked like reaching that standard, they have been seduced by the big wage packets and exotic lifestyles at more wealthy and glamorous clubs. Let’s face it, we are not one of the big clubs in europe – I would think we come 8th or 9th in that league.
Morning All
A very thought provoking post and having just read Rasp’s comment I think I know where I am now. I simply believe that Wenger regrets putting as much emphasise on the FA cup as he did when he had a squad that most of us thought was better than the one we have today. Wenger has since done a 180 on this and nothing demonstrates this better than the team selection for the semi against Chelsea.
franchise..
i actually agree with your 8.10 yest…
dudu doesnt seem to be the complete striker..but the main attributes he has is his finishing and his movement…..hes abit like a modern day robbie fowler…
we are not a long ball team so we dont need a big lump like ade leading the line….
we need someone who can make the right runs…and put the ball in the net..dudu scored 11 goals in his first season and he was injured for 4 months…he seemed to be settling nicely…lets hope we get him back properly…
also world class players want to play with other world class players…
all our best players leave us becuase they dont want to wait 5 years for trophies….
henry, vieira, pires, the only reason they stayed for so long is because we were winning….henry left because he knew he would have to be patient with he new crop of players and he wasnt interested….like famini and hleb…..
if we’d of gone 5 years back then henry and paddy wouldnt of stayed….and the same will happen with cesc and AA…
so we need to pull our fingers out and start winning…or we will be in a vicious circle every season….
under the current circumstnces its hard…but we do need to show more ambition and start stamping our authority…we are classed as one of europes elite teams….so we need to start acting like one…
rasp…
i agree….compared to europes other top teams we are not as near as we think we are..
look at the CL last season…we struggled againts the mediocre teams and then got smashed in the semis by a big team..
we were the poorest side in the semis out of the other 4….
and we were lucky to get to the semis…
True JonJon,
In some ways, Arsene is the ‘David Moyes’ of the managers at the top level. He’s overachieved with a fraction of their budget, but still provided one of the best stadiums and training facilities in world football. Wea are at a pivotal stage now, because having achieved that, we need to move forward. Its a results driven industry, winning is important. Our sponsors will be reluctant to offer us big deals if we are not bringing home trophies. I wonder if the sponsors would rather the City of Manchester Stadium was named the Emirates????
good point rasp…
if there was a league of europe elite…we would be the everton….
its interesting to hear GG comments about ade….
i normally think ex gooners have a point when they make a statement about current affairs but i think GG is way off the mark with this one…
You all make this sound like some brand new revalation that we are not at the very top of the pecking order in Europe and Wenger is the equivalent of David Moyes….why do you think I have been defending the whole thing as enthusiastically as I do….welcome to my world
GG is way off the mark. Ade would have left any way whatever the feelings of the supporters. He’s a greedy two faced mercenary and citeh will discover that. No club can keep a player that wants to leave and expect them to perform to their highest level. Added to that, the effect on the rest of the players is negative.
Manu and Villa got it right. They knew Ron and Barry wanted to leave so they did a deal to say give me your best for one more season and you’ll get your way – but if you underperform, your new club may lose interest. A good or bad season can make a huge difference to a players worth.
Hi London,
There is a huge difference between defending everything AW does because he is ‘AW’ and defending him because he’s doing his best under difficult circumstances.
We will never agree, but in my opinion he made a big mistake for the club, the fans and the sponsors by not realising that we could never have won the CL last season and not giving the FA cup the priority.
agree rasp…
last years FA Cup would have shut the fans up for another couple of seasons…and got them back on his side….
instead he put all his eggs into one basket with a team of kids that had struggled all year in their own league….
we ended up with nothing but a season to forget…
This might be a different approach to my history of posting, but there are several things have changed since the invinsible era.
Ave, if you accept for a moment that the club are really strapped for cash or you are of the belief that Wenger is a one off, often called stubborn, meaning he would generally like to buy compatively unknown players to the PL, his net spending up to the last published accounts in may 2008,is unbelievably only 4 million.
The media and tabloids, for some reason wish us to fail year upon year, and that in itself may motivate Wenger.
Spurs have had 11 managers, not won the league for nearly 60 years, yet get little or no flack.
People point to Abramovich and his money, but it is often forgotten that the basis of the team that won the league for the first time in 50 years, was mainly built by Rainiera(sp) and within a matter of days Chelsea were in debt to the tune of 90 million, the arc angel Abromavich came to Ken bates rescue and of course added huge finance to the club,to keep the momentum going.
Arsenal are a one off in this present day, still full of old heritage board members and a tradition which they are proud of,and are reluctant to see the ineviatable, that is a takeover.
I am from a different generation to those who started to follow the club which coincided with he Wenger years, and therefore more or less expect us to win a trophy every year.Remember we are the second most successful club since the PL was created, and it is no coincidence that United and us have the two longest serving managers, which shows a stability.
I don’t agree with everything that Wenger does, but then on the other hand,it must be no mean task to handle players, contracts and agents when loyalty today means absolutely nothing.
I think the emphasis on the youth policy has misfird(at least for the next few years)and which ever way you look at it,we tend to sell a player annually and invariably make a profit, then buy a replacement for a cheaper price.how many of us new about Sagna, hleb, even adebayor before they signed.
Now we are in a world wide recession, which none of us have ever witnessed before, but RM have raised the bar yet again, followed closely by City and the long term of top class PL football looks bleak.
I haven’t really answered your post, but just given my opinion, and remember considering that nearly every player got slated on the blogs last season,we finished forth and reached two Cup semifinals.
16 other teams would be elated with that performance.
I still thibnk our spending is not over for the main reason that we have so many injury prone players, regardless of ability and hopefully that will not be repeated this season, but contingencies have to be made.
Never to miss an opportunity, on a day when GG has already stuck the knife in, Fergie has added his twopennyworth..
“Sir Alex Ferguson believes Arsenal have no money
Manchester United boss reveals Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has limited funds to add to his squad and reckons the north Londoners will struggle this season”
Rasp
Have I understood this properly? Are you saying when I defend AW I am doing it because he is AW and when you do so it is because he is doing his best under difficult circumstances?
By the way, in my humble opinion, believing that we will not win the CL is no way to go about winning it.
Jonjon
I would say that we come to the crux of Ave’s post. We had a better team in the invicibles but we achieved less in Europe, why is that? And I would say: because we were wasting our time in Cardiff instead of consentrating on being masters of Europe.
hi JonJon and the rest of the intellects
Eduardo is a marvelous to have
i know he would score goals.
we are good enough and big enough to have an all action/doing CF though. they do make the difference
the kind of DM and CF we need would cost a few pennies and i doubt wenger would be willing to push past the £15m benchmark to sign one player
Melo was one of the outstanding DM in Europe last season he cost £21m + a player, Yaya was another how much do u think he would cost
we would end up with a player that is not good enough to keep denilson and song out of the team from the start. probably Matuidi
As for CF im not sure we’ve got enough in quality. we do in numbers with players complementing each other’s weaknesses
What i would do for a player like Etoo or Torres. Wouldnt mind Villa too
London,
I wasn’t referring to you specifically, just a general observation that revering AW can lead to ‘blind spots’.
Obviously having belief is vitally important to winning. But when you have a long term strategy as we appear to, surely an FA cup win would have been far more beneficial to the club than the humiliating way we were dummped out of the CL.
we might start well with the team we have but we would probably run out of gas like we did in 2007/08
how would we cope when all 4 competitions are in full swing?
even in the invincible era we were very fond of running out of gas around feb/march
i was quite optimistic that wenger would have completed in buys by now. the pressure is off his shoulders now compared to late May and i worry that he is going back to his old ways
Morning Franchise,
I’d like to dream as you do, but the realist in me has to only consider players that are in our budget and scope. Dzeko may have been, but he aspires to go to one of the glamour clubs. If you add the attraction of the lifestyle to the salary and achievements at the RM’s, Barca’s and Milans … you can see that we don’t stand a chance with those high profile players.
Actually,
you may laugh but a combination of Rafa for Europe and Arsene for the PL would be a good combination.
With regards to the FA Cup,it is the most prestigious cup tournament in the world, and I tend to agree for one reason or another the emphasis in it’s importance has changed, which is a shame.
what does wenger mean when he says i have money to spend but only on the right players?
fergie said he believes wenger is cash strapped. do u blame him?
if we are pretending to be skint to sign players on the cheap then it is not doing us any good media wise
no big players would want to move to us anymore.
Fair enough Rasp but please don’t forget that I agree with you when you say that always agreeing with everything AW can lead to blind spots. And as I always add there should be no shame in complementing him on good work as you were doing when comparing him to David Moyes. I would argue that I do the same; complments are a very subjective things.
london
the invincibles were crap in europe becuase we relied heavily on idividuals in that team and there were too many weak links
we could of done better than toure, gilberto, lauren and mad jens…they were the weak links…
henry vieira berg sol and pires carried that team…with cameos from cole and freddie…
it was enough domesically..but in the big trophy against the likes of teams that had 11 quality players..henry pires vieira were man marked and we struggled….
since then wengers tried to build a better ‘team’ to accomodate that…and we started to play some breath taking football, overtaking that of the invincibles…
but the lack of trophies leads to departures in key areas and we end up starting over every season….
wengers trying to win the biggest trophy on the domestic stage with a bunch of babies….
its alot to ask…we should set our sights lower…go for the FAcup…keep the fans and the players happy for 2 more seasons and then make a charge for europe when we are ready….
learn to crawl before you can walk…
fergie has won the league 3x in a row. if he remained in the top 4 and wins the Carling cup there wouldnt be too much criticism on him based on his last few years achievement
for us this is our most important season in the modern era. if we fail again everything would go pear shaped. i cant even start to think what might transpire
im not happy at all.
BTW
JonJon and the intellects sounds like a good name for a 60s band
It is very rare for Fergy to criticise Arsenal at this stage of the season, he is usually complementary as a hedge against future embarrassment. I can only conclude that it is in fact United who are the cash strapped ones and are having trouble getting used to their financially superior neighbours.
your right franchise…we might start well with the current side…but as the injuries kick in we will fade away…
we are at least 2 players short….
and i dont mean 21 yr olds from africa or france or outer tibbet….
we need 2more AK47 type buys….
and wengers got 25mil… no excuses
liverpool couldnt afford torres straight so they offered a about £20m + luis garcia.
if wenger was any ambitious he would do the same with his ‘highly’ rated fringe players
but he wont
cos he seems to put player progress over club progress
i dont think the board which now includes an American sports tycoon would be that stupid to refuse Wenger cash and risk our position
Wenger is getting too scientific for himself
I agree London – its like when Argentina invaded the Falklands to deflect attention from their domestic problems. United have been made to look 2nd class by losing Ronaldo and watching Tevez and other top players going to citeh.
Jonjon
Fair comment but I would say we have been crawling for years it is time to get up and run and this might just be the season in which we do that. I want Wenger to be thinking now, today: sod the FA cup my cup priority is the CL.
Ohhh good comparison Rasp…like it…and agree with it.
i doubt fergie is any worried
the only target he had his eyes on benzema went to Madrid.
M.Owen might prove to be a shrewd move.
in Owen, Berba, Rooney u have 3 players who have scored more than 20 goals on more than one occassion in England
if fergie can survive until January u know he would at least spend
after 3 years wiythout the league remember his larsson signing in Jan 07
if wenger did something similar in Jan 2008 we might have won the league
london
i think fergie is scared of us this season…hes started his mind game bollox and he aint done that with wenger or ages….
wengers under more pressure franchise than ever before..kreonke and gazidis will want to make us global brands in america…
we cant do that finishing 4th every year….
That could all go tits up for Fergie though Franchise …… say Owen gets injured, Berba is lazy and sulks and Rooney gets a series of reds ….. you can but hope
lol Rasp
when Avn Nisterooy left Mancs we all expected them to implode they didnt replace him and they won the league with Ronaldo scoring 26. i dont know how fergie does it well, he gets help from webb, riley and co for a start.
United are tight at the back. if u cant conceded u cant loose they say
im not even sure what verm would bring to the table. it would be interesting what happens next season but any neutral observer with some footballing knowledge would know that we havent made enough good moves all summer
4th might really be the target
Morning Roadsters..
Glad I don’t have to print some of the responses today, I would need a few ink cartriges..
They have been excellent thanks..
The post just started as a comment that got a bit long so I turned it into a post..
It is about the battle in my head about us winning things and what the reality is..
Just a small question that perhaps I should have asked within the post..
Could this team beat or finish higher up the PL than the invincibles or the 98′ team????
Fergy is scared of everything. I really believe that we are about to witness the football equivalent of the fall of Rome.
I find the idea of buying Micheal Owen as laughable and it is only the likes of Sky (manc tv) and the manc press who is holding this idea together. Owen is the Emperors new clothes: a little boy is going to point at him and say but he can’t run anymore and everyone is going to say, as they did at the end of last season, oh yeah, he is crap.
* Van
* concede
London Owen has played more games than Rosicky over the last 2 years, more than Van Persie, and more than Eduardo
we need our regular crocks fit if we would stand any chance
we definitely have our own problems and ManU also do but we didnt just win the league for the 3rd time in a row
4 years no silverware, 5 years no league, CL never
which team should be more proactive this summer?
Franchise
Your example of replacing Horse face with Ronaldo was at a time when manu were still financial top dogs. This is what we are all trying to tell you…….things have changed.
And that is the reason Fergy is worried Owen is not horse face and he certainly is not Ronaldo.
And by the way I thought I should point out you are defending manu.
morning ave..
98…no…they were the complete unit…they would of bullied and outplayed todays team off the park…
invincibles..no…it would be a good game but cole and pires would have tore up our right hand side..especially if theo played…
Morning ave,
Did you realise that your headline had double significance – the Clodagh Rogers song was credited to Gene Raskin, who put English lyrics to the Russian song “Dorogoi dlinnoyu” written by Boris Fomin (1900-1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevskii. It deals with reminiscence upon youth and romantic idealism – maybe that’s where Arsene gets his inspiration
G’Day all
Good post Avenell, good points you make.
Rosicky is not one of our main strikers (although he is very versatile and I am sure he could play the Flamini role if needed lol)
Rosicky will be a big lift if he can stay on the park. I’m also looking forward to seeing Little Nicky
step into the void that has just been created, as a big forward, who is threatening in the air as well. Its all good, lets just get the show on the road.
im defending ManU???? lol
cos my club is been run like a sweet shop
i doubt hull fans expect to win the league but their fans would be happy if they as a club appear to do enough to ensure they dont get relegated
we making record profits, board have in the past have declared about £90m in cash reserves (in last year’s accounts) etc etc etc
yet we keep acting like 4th is the target
franchise….
i agree we should be more pro active….
manutd are weaker most definate…but we should be taking advantage of that and not resting on our laurels and using it as an excuse not to sign anyone..especially now citeh are throwing their money away…it creating an extra rival…and we still have ground to catch on pool and chavski
things got off to a good start when we signed Vera Lynne….
but its gone stale again….i would of liked the team to have been ready before pre season…
we cant rely on the fact tomas and dudu are back ad say they are new signings…not good enough…if they are that important we should of replaced them last year….
wenger now has 25ml…he needs to move quickly….
London, Manu didnt replace VN with Ronaldo. Ron had been in the team for 3 years already. that summer Utd were very quiet in the transfer market
Morning Gnarley,
Agree about Nik, – don’t you think he and the likes of Djourou need and injection of spite and aggression to make them more competitive. Hopefully some of TV’s attitude will rub off on them.
LMAO london..
Franchise.. that £90 million was cash reserves for a year.. if you look into our financial report that year it clearly shows we needed to find £146 million 12 months later..
That £90 is a myth built up to suit an argument.. It never told the full story..
On top of that if we carry on borrowing like Man U do we would have to sell a player of Fabregas’s quality every year to service that debt..
Anyways with Mancs being skint, Fergie has confirmed on SSN that David Gill made an enquiry at a meeting for Ribery a few weeks ago but was told no chance, they also did try to sign Benzema but he chose Real. I dont think they are skint they just couldnt nail their star targets. he might be taking a big risk but he isnt under the same amount of pressure
Ras
Agreed they do need to get meaner. But as they get more game time, they will feel more @ home on the big stage & therefore give more grunt. Well thats the theory anyway
i didnt see that part of it Avenell. still no excuse though clubs generating 1/2 of our revenue are still making moves that match their level. Unlike us. if we are skint offer players like diaby, eboue, randall, merida, bendtner, senderos etc in cash + player deals
squad of 24 is big enough
Morning all
Its taken me ages to read throught the comments – great debate, well done ave…….
I think its upsetting that top class players aren’t attracted to the Arsenal anymore even if we could afford them……Arsene raided nearly all the french stars in the early days and then their cupboard was bare too…….
Contrary what other may say, there are loads of flats still for sale at Highbury Square, which means that though i am sure they will be sold eventually in at least 2 years time, that is restricting our cash flow, even if the company has been so called “fenced off”
We are a football club mot land developers or estate agents.
And if no one wants to talk to me, i will sod off.
The point about concentrating on the FA cup is an important one too – obviously Arsene wanted to keep on winning things to keep players interested but having won the FA cup shouldn’t the team move up a notch and challenge for the Champs Lge…….
Saying that….I do think we should have been more competetive this season in both the Premiership and the FA cup…….
I’m here – I’m talking to you……
What’s up Kelsey…..
I don’t get involved in the financial debate – you lot understand it much better than me. I do remember the statement that the money for the stadium etc was ‘ringfenced’ …. that I believe in the well known financial phrase is a load of ‘old bollocks’
kelsey – you are absolutely right that 16 other teams would have been thrilled to have achieved what we had last season………..
Liverpool supporters soon lost patience with Rafa even after he’d won the Champs Lge and got to another final because they weren’t challenging for the Premiership…………..The Premiership title is what its all about for me…..if we’re strong enough to challenge for that then everything else should just fall into place…..
Like the mancs the last 2 years……like us in our double years…..success leads to more success
kelsey..
the board say the flats are fenced off but i dont beleive for one minute that if the property side of things werent oing smoothly the club wouldnt use the football side of things to balance it out….
we were told when the plan for the flats was drawn up…it would generate extra income some of which could go back into the team….
so whats to say its not the other way round until they are sold????
Franchise
The manu thing was a bit below the belt, I apologise.
Moving on, no one one this channel thinks the club is, as you put it, skint. But all of us are aware of the the financial sea change that has taken place since the days that Arsenal and United ruled the league, both in financial clout and trophies.
You are calling for the club to act in a way that is no longer possible, a way that we have had to work for about three years, a way that manu are just coming to know right now.
2 semis in the CL, 5 quarter finals apps and 1 final app. Arse we really a top 4 side in Europe????
if we are skint cos of highbury square then it is indeed laughable
chipo from le-grove just posted this, bloomberg arsenal financials
cashflow for the last few years
2003 – 0.5m
2004 – 40m
2005 – 81.5m
2006 – 37.7m
2007 – 77.3m
2008 – -21m
Was the team that sat at the top of the premiership for all those weeks during 2007/2008 a much stronger team than we have now………
Kelsey… there were so many comments that I didn’t know who to answer first so I just saw who was on at the time.. Morning anyway….
Franchise .. the offloading of the excess baggage I agree with..
Jonjon.. in reality I think this team will beat the previous Arsenal teams as the quality of football now is much higher.. But we could pick up some of the qualities of the teams of the past, like the winning mentality..
If I remember correctly the net gain from the sale of the flats was forcast to be about £25m – Arsenal were greedy and wanted that £25m for themsleves and decided to finance the development rather than let someone else make that profit.
sorry about before kelsey
im at work so its hard for me to keep up with everyone….i was mid debate …. i wasnt purposely ignoring you…
Maybe some at the club do learn from the experiences of others – I’d like to think that RVP considered Hleb’s plight when deciding to stay with us, he recently said…..
“I regret my move from London, but unfortunately nothing can be done about it now. For me, Arsene Wenger was like a father. I consider him one of the best managers in the world. For such a boss one wants to die on the pitch. Arsene managed to create a smashing team with a wonderful atmosphere inside of it. I have no doubts that if Arsenal had the same budget as Barcelona, the Gunners would be among the three best clubs on the planet.”
if not for the Glazers taking a huge loan to buy United, ManU have been a well run club for ages. they have made their brands one of the best in Sports and have done this over the last 10 years. Arsenal board and its manager are playing the fans for fools. Until we are clear about the true financial position of our club then we would keep speculating and hyperventilating.
but ask urself why would an american and a russian bussinessman be ‘fighting’ to gain control of a club in serious financial calamity?
Francise
You are preaching to the converted. But those figures from Chipo are tiny when you consider that it was the owners of City who lent money to Barclays bank last year to keep them solvent and then sold their shares in May at a I.5 billion profit.
So I repeat again, if we put in an offer for a player like Arshavin we have to wait to see if City are going to come in and make a higher offer. This is not acting like the owners of a sweet shop it is called running a business within it’s means.
I was at a meeting at Highbury used to announce how the the building of the new stadium was to be financed and what the effect would be on the football.
It seemed to me at the time – in the middle of a property boom – that it wasn’t a huge return for the investment…….
Franchise
No one on this channel thinks that Arsenal is a financial clamity it would help if you saw the distinction.
Peaches
I think the figures were much higher than 25 mil net profit but I agree with your point for what it is worth.
rasp – I read that about Hleb too – when you think how worried we were about Arsenes state of mind last summer, him saying ridiculous things like going to the Euros with his cheque-book….maybe he wasn’t really paying enough attention to keeping both Hleb and Flamimi…….then Gilberto went too……
The stadium will inevitably start showing an effect on the football but it has taken longer than many of us expected.
Franchise,
I don’t claim to speak for the site, but IMO you are an important contributor. Your comments are very welcome and part of a healthy debate – long may it last
if we skint i keep saying sell the deadwood. get the players u need win good trophies and prize money.
go to zenit make an offer, they say no, make an improved one, they say no. move on to target B. who is most definitely cheaper
oh we are skint yet we sign a 16 yr old from Wales for £5m when we needed a proper ready DM to challenge
Everton cant compete but u can see the intelligent moves Moyes makes.
it dont add up. we aint skint, we aint rich. we are just a club that has been badly run since 2004.
judge me in May, In May judge me in 2 years
Even Matuidi is all rumour no official contact has been made. Wenger is truly not close to signing any1.
And they wonder why they cant fill the executive boxes
Rant Over.
We have always lived in the finacial shadow of Man U .. I can remember all those years ago they cherry picked Ray Wilkins, Neil Webb, Brian Robson the list is endless..
But we were miles behind in the old days no richer than the Spuds or the Spammers.. now we are catching up fast..
Man U would still have debts of £250 million even though the Glaziers unloaded their debts into the club. But they were the biggest club in the world so financing there debt is easier.
One thing for sure is no debt is a better way in the end. and that is what I think we are trying to achieve, long term stability without dropping too far from the top..
Oh and Frank Stapleton..
Franchise
Who on this channel has said we are short of money?
Fran – why do you think Kroenke and Usmanov are fighting to gain control of the club……
Surely its because they can see the benefits for their pockets of being at the helm….
no one London
i dont believe we are
i just cant understand why wenger downplays the importance of quality signings
i just think he is too obsessed with seeing this ‘project’ through
arrrrgggghhhhhhhh
So, we’re back to project youth……
I don’t think many teams have as much money as appears.. it’s just how far in debt they are prepared to go..
The man with the Merc may look richer, but if has it on the knock he is poorer than the man who borrowed nothing.. Confusedshush..
He bought Arshavin didn’t he…….
But if that Merc gets that man better contracts and a better sense of well being, then that is the balance between borrowing or not..
peaches u 100% right
‘I would spend on the right player’
well probably cos u get too scientific sometimes u get things wrong
its scary to think about players like walcott, diaby, senderos, djourou etc that have been at the club for a few years and yet to achieve half of their ‘potential’
is it this that wenger is waiting for? how many clubs do 6 or more fringe players break through in the same year?
how hard is it to sign a DM for Christ sake? they dont have to be flair players or do they
Franchise
You claim we have been badly run since 2004, It was around that time that Abramovich took over Chelsea forcing us to take a completely different approach to the transfer market. That is not acting badly, that is surviving under more difficult circumstances.
Well said ave – no point in spending money we havn’t got……..
If Ade had gone last summer we may well have got Alonso and Arshavin……
Lets blame Ade for everything….
Peaches we had to loose FAbregas for 3 months and be 6 points behind Villa for Wenger to sanction a move for Arshavin.
A good source told me that we still paid almost as much as we did in January than we would have done in the summer.
those 4 weeks of negotiations didnt reduce his asking price. we still paid roughly what zenit wanted on Jan 1st
If it is scary to think about players like (walcott, diaby, senderos, djourou) then don’t, think about player like Fabregas, Rosicky, Arshavin, Nasri
Do you think it was Cescs injury that forced AW to change his mind on buying AA……
I think it rumbled on from the summer and he was always going to sign him in Jan…..
Agree London – blame Abramovitch……
London u dont break ur invisibles team cos Abrahamovich turns up
Now that we have several Abrahamovich’s do we do the same or probably more intensively?
Bad management IMO. loosing hleb and flam same. risking last season hopes on ed and rosicky’s return same
refusing to sign quality players like alonso for 16m bad management
i just hope that if things started as bad as they did last year that the board have the balls to amicably split ways with wenger end of next season that is if their hands are clean
ive got no badges but i can see clearly where we are going wrong
Cescs injury was in December Franchise we were already so too far behind……
Our first 10 games were mouthwateringly good – we should have been streets ahead of our closest rivals instead we dropped points to FULHAM in our 2nd game and never really recovered……I have to blame Ade for that I’m afraid…….
we arent skint….
we are just reluctant to spend all of what we do have….
thing for me is…i know we need to get rid of this debt….but if the club can borrow all those millions to build a new stadium…surely 30mil on a couple of players wont go amiss…
AA already paid back what we paid for him by getting us bak into 4th
speculate to accumulate
peaches blame Ade??? lol
we played eboue and denilson in central midfield against fulham
even Song wasnt available to be picked he was at the Olympics
which manager starts a season with a handicap cos he wants to sign a DM on the cheap on Sep 1st??
i maintain that if we signed Alonso in Sept we might not have needed the russian in Jan
hahaha
yes peaches i blame ade too…
‘i know why we lost the league we were a bit soft against the ball in the middle’
who did he sign? Silvestre
JonJon – I’m not sure that AA got us back into fourth, I reckon Villas collapse had a lot more to do with us finishing fourth although I admire your romantic idea
denilson was run ragged by murphy in that fulham game…
the signs were there from then on what our midfeild was going to be like for the rest of the season
That Fulham game was such dross – did he really play eboue and denilson in mid-field aarrrrrgggggghhhhhh
JJ if the central midfield was any balanced Ade, Cesc, NAsri etc would have looked better in the first half of the season
we had to sacrifice points in denilson and song’s quest to get to speed
they/we still fell short exam time
peaches…villa did indeed collapse
but we couldnt score…..its no good the other team droppin points if you are too
he kickstarted the revival…rejuvinated the squad..gave us fresh hope..
and more importantly a shit load of goals and assists…
Jonjon
There is such a shortage of talent out there that spending this 30 mil that is rapidly reaching mythical status is not the answer.
The mancs easily have 30 mil to spend but they couldn’t keep Tevez because they knew that no matter what they offered City would have offered more.
Franchise…
Arshavins price never went down from the start of the transfer window to the end… But the point is it never went up.. no doubt Arshavins agent and Zenit were trying to bring the big boys in to up the auction so ywaited until last knockin’s .. So in the end we got him..
We all seem to be arguing agaist you but I agree with some of your points, good debate buddy..
Sylvestre was the single most disappointing signing we have ever made. It failed on all counts. He added nothing to the side. He has no transfer value. He was a manu reject – remember what they did to us in the CL semi!!! It made us look like a laughing stock. It looks like we’re going to pay his wages for another year – why oh why. We let Bobby go for the sake of a year or two on his contract, but we’re holding on to Sylvestre…. words fail me….rant over
if we were skint we could have gotten Torsten Frings for the short term to fill in DM and hope Diaby, Song learns from him
Inter just signed Lucio…. that sort of thing
Gilberto who was never lightning quick any way had to go but why not replace him…. flamini and diarra
i really thought things would be different this summer. im running out of patience or should i say ive run out of patience
Yeah Franchise
I do agree with Ave it might seem as though we are arguing against you but it is a very interesting discussion.
my point about AA can also highlighted by the fact we improved in the league but were still crap in CL and when he didnt play V chelsea in the FA….
he was the spark…without him we were a dull side…
guys we took the risk with arshavin and it paid off. if another top club came in we would have lost him for definite that is how low we have sunk.
we do succeed in persuading the younger players to join us cos we offer them better wages (sometime 1st team footie)
we are the abrahamovich’s of youth football then
im too aggressive in my delivery i know
i didnt think u were all argiuing with me anyways. Good debate
london
we got AA for 15mil…
the talent is out there…there are better players out there than denilson and walcott and diaby we could get for less than 15mil and they would sign terms….
we just dont get them becuase wenger wants to develop what hes got….
im not arguing with franchise….
im more on his side i reckon..
no fence sitters today…. HAVE IT….
Fran – I agree with you totally about the poor decisions in the selling of the mid-field – Diarra was going to be trouble, Gilberto wanted first team football and we didn’t have deep enough pockets to keep Flamini – makes the option to wait till the last minute for Alonso a very strange one…….
I have no problem with the aggression, it shows passion..
If another club came in for Arshavin we would have upped our price to the maximum that we thought he was worth.. it is easy to say things now, but at the time he may not have paid off, he was a gamble, like the one the spuds took and there’s didn’t..
I can’t believe we are doing the Silvestre thing again.
Small steps people, small steps
Let’s start at the beginning
1 Senderos asks to leave and goes to Milan late in the transfer window leaving very little time for Wenger to act. The only player out there with any kind of experience (remember that, the thing that everyone was crying out for last season) was Silvestre. Not ideal I agree but understandable under difficult circumstances.
What is the first thing Wenger does given the time this window? Buys a left footed defender.
Diara made Adebayor look like angel when it came to disruption.
London no no
Wenger was going to sign a CB b4 Senderos left. Senderos was amongst the CBs that wenger concluded were soft in dealing with the high ball
senderos had a nervous breakdown afetr Liverpool if u remember
Senderos wasnt meant to be the CB that was going to address our softness with the ball down the middle
Wenger said his scouts couldnt find a CB claiming there was a shortage of CB (Oh Arsene) and he even cited the loan move of Senderos by AC MIlan as proof
Silvestre was just a stupid signing anyhow u look at it
Agree about Diarra London, strange that AW took him off the chavs hands in the first place……..
Did Senderos ask to leave – who arranges a loan deal…..Milan must have been interested in him to take him on loan……
Franchise.. coo eee.. he is over here ..lol
I think we need to differentiate between things that went wrong in the last transfer window and what is happening now.
I think it is correct to say that collectively we all agree that Wenger did not cover himself in glory in last summer’s transfer window but personally I feel that it is a bit early to be critical before this window has closed.
Theres a shortage of experienced CB’s cos we’ve got them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn’t mind the profit we made out of the Diarra deal in my pocket..
If we done that a bit more we could be the Arfur Daley of the football world.. and keep players down at the lock up..
lol avenell
u need to put some coloured highlights on ur page they are too similar
Peaches
Wenger was gloating about the price he paid for him 2 mil or something ridiculously cheap like that. he must have known that at the very worst he would be able to sell him at a healthy profit.
Milan could have only known if Senderos made it public
You may be right Franchise about Senderos; I, of course, have no way of being sure.
I just didn’t think he was a bad signing when he scored at home against spuds.
Really good debate,
other channels could learn a lot from this.Disagree, argue your point but no abuse.
Senderos was highly rated by AW,in fact once quoted as a future captain.I am not sure about his status at the club now, or more to the point does he want to stay or does AW want him sold ?
The Man city owners, as I said the other day make the russians look like paupers,so even if we were taken over by either of the main shareholders,we still couldn’t compete for the very best talent.
Having said that there are only a limited amount of players available.
Our national team is a very good example, supposedly the best individual world class players, but as a team have fallen short for decades.
my other concern is that another part of the Dubai or saudi family will come along and buy another PL.it becomes monopoly until hopefully one day it all goes bang.
We need more of a level playing field and a wage cap structure, but i doubt it will happen in the near future.
true london
To me Senderos is like a dart player or golfer..
you can hit 180′s all day long in the pub, but as soon as Phil Taylor is in the opposite corner at lakeside your bum goes..
London – we have no choice but to sit and wait to see what happens…..
He does have about £25m to spend though so if he doesn’t spend it I think we as supporters can feel a bit miffed as we’ve swallowed his financial restraints for the last years……..
A more earthy explanation from Ave…..and yet so true lol
some guy on another channel
says we got £2m from Barca as add on in the Hleb deal cos they won the league
dont know how true it is though
does it make any sense that we are intentionally jeopardizing our chances to win anything in order to avoid paying extra add ons???? Conspiracy Theory 1
u heard it here first
Peaches
We are having one of those mornings in which we agree with each other. I promise I will try harder tomorrow lol
I believe Wenger will act before the close of the transfer window.
I loved your analogy of him scouring the French clubs but now the cupboards are bare.
Sorry London – tell me again how AW had a cunning plan for Ade to deliberately be off-side that should do it
Peaches
It’s funny you should say that I was trying to write a head line post which included that in it yesterday, in fact I might put a bit more work into it lol
Franchise – did you get lost fraternising somewhere else
London – you are funny
London… “I fought the offside law, but the offside law won..” go for it.. lol..
Yeah
It makes complete sense that if it wasn’t for the add ons we have to pay we would have won the CL for the last four years. I despair.
i did peaches
ave
Franchise – I’ll go along with most conspiracy theories but I’m not having that one I’m afraid – thats a load of tosh IMO
so u believe elvis is still in the building
Aliens killed JFK
David Bentley has always been a Spud fan..
i think Peter Andre broke up with Jordan at the time he did so that his new single would get some air play and sympathy
Absolutely – put me down for the lot
elvis is working in asda….
tomas rosicky was stacking shelves with him for he past 18months
Anyone know what nasri has done??
He has been injured in training and taken to hospital for tests.. SSN..
Afternoon all,
That took a while to catch up on, phew!
Franchise – Agreed, I’d be pissed if a Flamini-type player doesn’t come in before the window shuts and there was something else I agreed with you on but can’t remember now it took so long to get to the end ha ha
I’m not a firm believer in project youth, I think its more “project we will buy them even if they are crocks cos they are cheap and hope for the best and if they get injured we will believe in the younger players”
Avenell – What’s this about Nasri?
Irish.. poss knee ligament damage..
Ave – you only knew that cos you looked at the poor shhhh you know who story
Flip it anyway – that’ll be a few months
Deja Vu
Not the first bit Peaches that’s on SSN.. I am searching everywhere tbh..
Hi Irish – have you been looking at flights with stop-overs in North London
SSN just said they don’t know what the injury is or how long he will be out for..
That’s the most official version I can find..
Ha ha Peaches – we were sorting out visas, one of our party is doing a course which will go on till the end of September so we will be going then.
I have suggested London as a stop over
FFS serious???
that means walcott will be starting again on the right…
It doesn’t sound good whatever he has done..
http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/23671/Nasri_taken_to_hospital_after_injury.aspx
I’m out for a bit seeya..
thats it
ive officially decided its nothing to do with bad luck
wengers smashed a mirror or something cos we are cursed
fractured right fibula
2-3 months??
those are John Terry estimates JonJon. this is an arsenal player we talking about here
thats done it for me..
ive decided lets take hleb back
or even reyes
Feck sakes
Every summer ……
Bring out le cheque book
it’s actually on arse.com.
3 months and waiting, knowing our medical staff they will plaster the wrong leg and find out 2 months later.
Well that just went and ruined my day, we’ve a hard start too.
I don’t need a history lesson on the purchase of Sylvestre……. it was wrong, unsuccessful and the other factors offered for justification ignore the fact that the club was too slow and did not have sufficient back up … no need to tell me slowly
Nasri ….. aaaarrrggghhhh!!!!! … has it started already. What did we do to suffer the curse of the injured players
im serious…
nasri…out til xmas lets say
eboue…a clown
walcott..cant play wengerball
diaby ….crap
leaves AA and rosicky as only decent wide men and one of them is dodgy….
lets just bring hleb back…
sod the ice cream…
5th year without silverware???
knows wengerball
knows arsene
knows arsenal and PL
available on the cheap
sorry he left
pride or trophies???
bring back hleb
Apparently it was a tackle from Diaby…
Could we get him on a one-year loan Jon Jon?
Diaby’s a clumsy leg breaking bastard – last time it wasn’t one of our players….. we should sell him for this alone…
JonJon – here’s a better idea, bring back Hleb and Flamini….
Never gonna happen, but an awful lot of folks would ave to eat their words if it did
is that true… diaby did it????
arrrrrggggghhhhh….its called training for a reason you cock…
i wouldnt mind but he cant tackle anyway so why they letting him loose in training???
do it to their players you dick not your own…
my patience is wearing thin with him…
Its only Arsenal Insider that reported it was Diaby, are they good or bad? I don’t read them.
The link is broken now too.
yeah guys
both flamini and hleb back on loan…
id take that all day long
Jon Jon I’m robbing your opinion on Hleb for an article – hope you don’t mind?
not at all my dear….
as long as you give avenell rd a shout out…..
Thank you
I’ll link when I’m done
Well if it wasn’t Diaby then we certainly have just got conformation who the next scape goat is. It is so Arsenal; we are never happy unless we have an Arsenal player to hate.
i like diaby london….
when he injured…!!
Yeah Rasp
I take your point it did come across a bit patronising…I apologise.
I always knew Nasri was a crock we should never have bought him
london
I blame Wenger he should have known, he had plenty of time to avoid this happening, get the cheque book out Wenger you tight wad.
I’ve been wanting to sell Diaby for a long time irrespective of how many fellow players he’s assaulted …. if he’d had any decency he’d have broken Ade’s leg for us
LMAO its ades fault…
Done with an Avenell Road mention
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/221381-samir-nasri-our-for-up-to-3-months-screw-it-bring-back-alex-hleb
Nice article Irish ….. email to AW for me will you?
Arsenewenger@gmail.com?
very nice irish….
good stuff…
Thanks for the idea Jon Jon
no worries irish…thanks for the shout..
does anyone know off the top of their heads whos in the emirates cup??
Rangers, PSG, Madrid
We don’t play PSG
cheers… forgot…and a friend just text me to ask me….
evening people…
poor nasri
Evening Choy – bad news indeed.
Can someone tell me who the team we are playing at 5.30 SC Colombia are?
Here you go London
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/get-to-know…-sc-columbia-floridsdorf
Here you are London – for once arse.com seem to have all the answers for you
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/get-to-know…-sc-columbia-floridsdorf
Snap
hey irish… i think he’s out at least till december…
November definitely Choy.
Say its 8-10 weeks in a cast, that takes him up to late September, then he has to build back up strength in his leg and regain fitness.
November is been kind.
At least it happened now and not a week before the season started, AW can decide to replace him or not.
Lets see, the options on the left,
gibbs, arshavin, vela, diaby, traore, wilshere, ramsey.
I still think we need a defensive player in before that.
Not Diaby on the left Choy – please God No
oh shite… i forgot .. we have rosicky who can play there!
I reckon AW might sell Traore.
He’ll use Arshavin out on the left wing if needed.
I wouldn’t be banking on Rosicky to play too many games Choy
yep.. he and nasri were supposed to be challenging each other for that spot and now the pressure is all on rosicky.
And I was looking forward to seeing Arshavin as a SS
That’ll be put on hold
City have told Elano not to come on pre-season duty.
Do we need someone on the right wing?
Hi choy, nice to see you.
Irish, nice article.it really is ironic if diaby caused the break, but to come to think of it,it doesn’t surprise me because he can’t tackle properly,if you get my drift.
Seriously,we do have a problem now.Too many IFS.
Will eduardo be fit, will Rosicky have to come into the side earlier than the anticipated autumn, which usually is the kiss of death.
We won’t buy a replacement i expect Ramsey to start more often, especially as our first 4 games are a piece of cake(cough)
Right I’m back..
Wasn’t it Diaby who banged out a Madrid players knee ligaments in the Emirates cup last year?..
Oh god,
what a cock up by Almunia.
Hold on 10 secs later 1-1 bedntner
Diaby has now broken 3 players legs.
1-2 Ramsey
Nasri will be our new signing
1-3 bedntner, great pass from ramsey. just read this team is 8th in the 4th division in austria.
gday all,
great post Ave, makes good sense buddy!
despite it being 03:25am here, its still enjoyable to see how the players go in terms of preparation in these training games!
any news about vela.i read he was out initially for 6/8 weeks now i read he is ok.any confirmation.
no eduardo on the bench today either.
Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
not sure kelsey, i heard he was going to play for mexico in the concaf in the last game but i didnt hear the outcome….
hi kelsey
is it just me or are we playing a 4141??
hey evo..thats dedication mate…hats of to ya
bloody hell senderos and traore are playing…maybe wenger has plans for them this season???
still no kolo though???
maybe its him thats off not big phil??
and robins injured already..
my mistake kolos on too…
We’re saved Senderos is playing DM
Sell Rosicky then..lol.
lol
i know whats that about???
this is the 2nd half set up
—–Szczesny———
Sagna-Toure-Gallas-Traore
—–Senderos-Denilson—-
Eboue—–Song—–Arshavin
——-RVP——
something like this
What????????? I thought it was 7.30 ko aaarrrrrggggghhhhh
1730 peaches
Ah well that would explain why I’ve totally missed it
u can still watch these last 25 mins
im sorry i know its only pre season but eboue just doesnt change… lol
When the big hand is on the 6 and the ickle hand is on the 5..
Peaches are you about??
Someone needs to teach Sagna how to cross..
took a deflection onto RVPs head, not too bad thou
Unreal isn’t it a Rvp header.. 6′tall a rare moment..
Who is this new Sen Dareross geezer?
he only scores headers for holland for some reason, good stuff thou!
funny i thought the same ade
send dear ross i thought.
Not sure about Ramsey yet.. gives the ball away too easy..
spoke too soon ave – great goal
Haha now he has scored.. shut up Ave..lol
Kelsey… and Arsharrrrvin??
hes our new signing ave

i called you ade,ave.
send dare ross is the one
Yeah I know.. no abuse on this site Kelsey..
88 minutes on the clock, has the ref got a date ?
The referees Tag Heuer has gone titso..
http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premiership/harry-offers-cut-price-pavlyuchenko-to-arsenal
hhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaahahaahahaha
30 goals next season.. go for it for a laugh..
They will be parrot sick..lol
back to bed for me catch u a bit later on
Did I hear Wenger say that Eduardo will be back before November?
Night Evo..
London.. He said September didn’t he?
Mind you he may of got that wrong before..
ok ok…
so eddie and nasri arent gonna be ready for the start of the season when the manager says himself we need to get off to a blinding start…
he has to dip into the transfer market…i dont want to hear the excuse that we had players missing or we were trying kids in certain positions…
something has to be done…it involves the cheque book…
It’s a difficult blinding start though Jonjon..
If we can get 12 points from the first 6 games that would be a good start, considering the opposition..
hello my fellow furniture lovers
15 points from the 1st 6 games. You know how sometimes a figure sticks in your head, well 15 points is ringing as loud as Big Ben in mine.
And also I can here “Same old Arsenal taking the piss”
Nasri has a broken leg, forget the 15 points
Raif me old chippendale..
Gnarley just for you.. of course on such a night.. shame about Samir though..
Right guys I have to do some work tomorrow so I’m hitting the sack..
Goodnight..
hi GG..bad news that aint it???? plenty of pre season left though for wenger to decide what to do..
lets hope it includes the equation chequebook+transfer market=new player…..
was never any good at maths but i think thats right..
hey raif good buddy…..
any news on Le Hunter Du Klass.???? ive been following his movements for the last few days now…
i lost track of him on the spanish border..he was rumoured to be last seen in the wilderness of germany wearing a stutgart kit and signing a dotted line…….
lets hope hes just throwing me a kipper…getting me off his scent so he can continue on his quest to the emirates!!!!
but i dont get it raif….all he needs to do is ask and i’ll carry him back myself….
ive already got hleb and im on my way to pick up flamini….theres room for another..
i heard he has signd for the Germans aswell JonJ.. i pray he hasnt.. what a way to wash ur football career down the drain..
the only news i have heard is that we are looking at “Gasp” Roman Pavlyuchenko !!!!!!!!! :s :$ :£
i cant see us getting a spurs player now raif…
we got sol cos he was class and he was free….
the players they have now would cost money and they all shite…
exactly.. rumor has it that Harry offerd him to us for 6mil??
if rumors are to be believed
http://www.tribalfootball.com/arsenal-spurs-frame-real-madrids-huntelaar-pulls-out-stuttgart-talks-258531
quick raif….
get the passports and the camper van ready….weve a missing dutchman to find….last seen in the german wilderess NOT signing on the dots!!!!
deal fallen through.. thats a good sign and a good chance to grab him.
but it also could be a chance for our prem rivals to nab him
raif…
chelsea dont need him…they got anelka and dogshit..
manure have owen and rooney and berbatoss..
citeh have 9 strikers….
the only teams i can see being able to afford him are us, pool and the spuds….maybe villa
if we cant compete with those teams financially and offer him a better offer theres something definately wrong at ts club….
i think there is somthing wrong JonJ mate thats the problem..
im already reading Wengers looking to fill ADES Boots from within the club
Morning all
Are we sure that Pavlyuchenco is a bad option? Or is it just clouded by the fact that he is a spud?
I have always been worried about that Huntelaar deal, his price is in spud range.
i dont mind if he doesnt get a new striker really raif…
i think the midfield needs looking at first….
but when theres a top international 1 goal every 1.25 game striker roaming round the wilderness looking for a club and is available for less than 20mil…i think its hard to say no….
hi london buddy…
nah its not just that hes a spud….but hes also shit…
huntelaars price is in our range too london…
if the reason we dont sign him is cos we cant afford him i will shake my head in disbeleif
Wenger must have known that Greedy was going to leave ages ago and has had plenty of time to work out what to do.
I do expect him to add to the squad especially as he has stated that Eduardo will not be available for the start of the season; he is not as stupid as some try and make out; he would have worked out that one injury to Bendner, like Nasri yesterday, and we are fucked, excuse my Anglo Saxon.
I gave, and still do give, Wenger a lot of lee way when it came to the last minute departure of Senderos last season and the need to grab a replacement from limited availability, in that case it was in the form of Silvestre. But no such time restrictions are upon him now and I for one will not forgive him if he doesn’t act; we need more attacking options and we need them before the start of the season.
Morning Jonjon
That was a sort of mini rant, a morning throat clearer
Huntelaars a better option then Roman,, i think Romans shit and the fact his a spud makes it worse.
there isnt many chances or opportunities to get a striker with a strike rate on the market without having to pay that extra premirum..
i agree london i think wenger had ades depature planned months ago…
i have a theory…
robin said he wanted the club to show some ambition before he put pen to paper….
he signed…and turned down much larger offers form other clubs..why???
1….we told him there was going to be a major signing and i dont think vera lynnes it….
2…he hated ade…he wanted him gone…robin signs ade goes….
Jonjon
Not bad, I like it, I can see you are wavering between we need another striker and we should promote from within….one injury to Bendtner and a whole raft of Anglo Saxon expletives later and our title challenge is over. He must add to the attack.
london
im going to use one of wengers favorite quotes…
we should only sign someone whos going to be better than what we already have….
IMO
AA worth 25mil
)
rvp worth 20mil
nikkis and dudu both worth 15mil (if darren bent was 16 i dont see why not!!!!!
so if we are going to sign a new striker we have to part with alot of cash….
i dont see the point of a chamkakaakaka or a pavlychenko……they wont improve us….
huntelaar will….
but if we aint targeting someone like hunter then there is no point wasting some of the kitty on an unknown
weve got 25mil….and we have a shitload of CB’s
so the new priorities for me under the circumstances are a midfield destroyer…ala flamini….and a wide attacker…ala hleb..
we have the money and plenty of time…lets get it sorted….no excuses
Morning all,
according to the bible of our club, there are no injury reported.
A few question then.
Where is Clichy, since he did his back in.
Apparently Fabianski is out until mid September.
unfortunately,we know about Nasri.
Eduardo has to come through The Emirates Cup games, before we can assess him.
Senderos,is he staying or going.AW has said he is leaving it up to him, whatever that means.
Mixed reports about Vela who either fractured a bone or splintered one in his ankle.AW said not available until end of September.
Could either Toure or Gallas leave.
So much uncertainty,so little time.
i agree kelsey….theres alot of doubts still hanging over my head about how much our squad is ready…
i dont want to see last minute deals…
we need the squad to be ready and settled before the first game of the season…
Morning Roadsters..
I have a theory too.(don’t want to be left out)
RvP wouldn’t sign his contract until the club showed some amdition, we haven’t seen any yet so he has been promised more players will be coming in, or would he be happy if one was his Holland team mate??
Also on Talk shite this morning the Pompey manager, said Crouch is definatly going, he turned down Sunderland.. I reckon he is destined to the Spuds if Pav leaves..
I agree as well,
with Ade gone, I think RVP got some sort of assurance that we would replace him, even though if we can only make one signing i would prefer a commanding defensive midfielder.i still think there is a chance on huntelaar,as he is delaying his move to Stuttgart.
Or another theory…
Wenger makes RvP beleive his own hype by insisting this team is good enough to challange.
and Project youth is still the way to go.. Blah Balh Blah
Morning Kelsey..
good news boys and girls.. I’ve just scrolled up and the old smilies are back..
How sad am I?
had to do that one lol..
Alright raif.. I can’t see that RvP has had 4 years, he won’t be fooled again..
hi ave….
raif have you been blogging wth BBK alot recently??
http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/23716/Wenger_Senderos_has_offers_on_the_table_and_can_leave.aspx
looks like send dare ross could be off then…
Morning Roadsters,
I don’t agree re RVP and the contract thing! Top strikers would not insist that the club will sign another top striker to rival them before they sign a new contract – they’re more likely to demand the opposite. All top strikers are selfish egomaniacs, it has to be part of their makeup.
Hey Hey Ave..
i agree about Rvp not being fooled, or fooled again,,
but dont underestimate the power of Arsene’s Jedi Mind Tricks
JonJ.. BBK? Boy Better Know?
only the other night if i remember right
Morning Rasp..
Even if Arsene said “Look Robin Lazybones is off and we will try to sign your best mate from Holland”
Raif.. he may say we did try, but they was too dear.. honest”
hi rasp…
so your with me on theory no. 2 then???
Morning ave,
With Nasri and DuDu out for a while now, I think we need to sign a striker and a midfielder. I am already getting the same sinking feeling I did last summer – I’m not at all confident that he will sign anyone. We have a much harder start to the season than in recent years, but that may be a good thing as we’ve actually lost to poor sides and dropped points early on.
DuDu is going to be Rosicky 2.0
hes gonna sign rasp….
its 5 years without silverware…he knows the fans are unsettled from last year..the arsene knows crowd are declining in numbers
hes just made 25 mil and whatever else we have in the kitty…
he cant justify not spending that….
its like franchise said yesterday…we are the team in the top 4 that should be the most proactive in the tranfer market….
hes gonna spend…hes gotta spend
I’m having a good feeling this summer.. Last year we lost two of our best players… Okay we got Nasri.. but I was still gutted.. also Ade was pissing me off.
This year we have lost the bad influence, signed a promising CB, we have Arshavin for all competitions.. At least we know Dudu and Rosicky will play again.. it’s all good.. anything on top will be icing on the cake..
Off course Nasri is a downer..
But he should be back by October..
Word of warning.I have heard that the far right Chelsea fans are ganging up with the Rangers fans for our match in The Emirates Cup,and trouble is expected. Those going, kindly be alert.
cheers for the heads up kelsey….
i wasnt going but i am now… ave you coming???
ive got a good feeling too…
ade was a bonus..we just need to move abit quicker
Morning all

all my favourites are back
hahaha
hiya peaches….
Haha no mate.. I doubt Rangers are interested in us we don’t have a firm now do we??.. They are more interested in getting pissed and smashing the pubs up..
And throwing empty McEwan cans at anyone who turns up on a pushbike..
ave – you know that thing we looked at yesterday…..I have a theory that could be tested if you fancy using the offending word – obviously I can’t as I’m a lady…….
Its the word that kelsey used when describing Almunias mistake…..begins with c ends in k…..has a spud reference
I am organizing our side from down here on the costas.I am better at delegating at my age
Morning kelsey – how are you
Wake up Irish.. Cock a doodle do..
how was that? lol..
Lady peaches,
no coded messages on here please,it might frighten people away.
If you looked at it yesterday it may well be a clock.:)
Hey, hey, diddle hum day, aye, aye, aye..
I don’t think that’ll work cos we often use it that way….rasp and rico greet each other like that sometimes don’t they.
So I made a cock up then..
Don’t forget I wrote the post so I can say what I want..
Doesn’t matter…..I looked at the site……its awfully rude…..
Hi-De-Hi Roadsters………
Nice post Ave, Mary Hopkins I do believe, I must tease Rasp later
RIIIIIICO!!!!!!! hello..
Rico……!!!!
Hello Love you been alright
Hi rico –
Hi ave and raif, I am real good thanks raif, just had a few busy days but ‘I am back for good’ now – as are the old smileys thank goodness – how are you doing ….
JJ – Good Morning to you my friend, you have made a little tear appear in my eye
Jonjon you bully.. making a “lady” cry..
ive missed ya rico
especially the other day when i said we should sign david villa and everyoe ganged up on me…
rico – you lucky girl
What happened to Andrew Ridgely…..
He lives down this way Peaches.. near Plymouth or Falmouth one of the 2..
ave
How presumptious of me, JJ may just like a bit of Wham
He’s a surf bum.. That reminds me I had better do a bit of work..lol
im popping out for a bit..gotta have some din dins…
be back in a short while..
Ok, catch you all in a while, I have to have some lunch too
Hi peaches, i missed your comment earlier sorry
I have missed you too JJ – and would have right by your side through the Villa discussion
Oh, and the Barry Manilow evening
Hi rico – what are you going to tease me about?…. I see someone has stolen our special ‘hi-de-hi greeting
Someone has to be negative around here – you lot are far too optimistic….
We’re not going to sign anyone else…. AW has already sent out the warning signals. Just two more key injuries and we’ll be worse off than last year. Tomas and Dudu will not be able to play a run of games…..Citeh and toffees will push us down to 6th…. we’ll go out in the CL qualifying round….
Yo, Rasp – I was going to tease about the artist you referred to with ave’s heading
And how rude of them, that’s our’s Rasp
Big Phil appears to be off for sure then, guess Kolo will be staying ?
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/359520735?-19387
mme – now if this happens you will all be so so sad
I can’t see Nik going rico unless they make a ridiculous offer in the region of what Klaas would cost us and only if we were sure we could sign him…..
What absolute tosh – he hasn’t struggled to establish himself……..
Ithink he has struggled …. but now has established himself and is a very important part of our plans for the coming season. Surely we’d only sell him if we had someone of proven ability in the pipeline that we could afford. It takes some players a couple of seasons to fit in with wengerball = Flamini, Song etc, we can’t afford that delay with any replacement for Nik
nikki b will be sold if they stamp up enough cash.. dont get me wrong i love nikki b and think theres a great striker waiting to jump out of him but if the money is good then i would study it
I don’t think he will go either – Arsene rates him highly, and to be honest if ever there is going to be a season that Nik will shine it will be this one. He has now lost the noose around his neck (ade) and he should be free to play his own way, and not worry about that idiot anymore!
In fact I reckon Robin will be a better player this season too – actually they all will be….
Except Eboue
i hope ur right Rico.. Ade was a bit of s dip shit emagine comming to work. hearing this every day
i dont feel sorry for the man city players tho LMAO
Whey Hey Skippy is back…
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/359527441?-19387
Whats the connection rico……
Our captain is back peaches, our skipper….
Skipper aka Skippy in the sports world
And its the Ashes, and Skippy was Australian
Too much Wolf Blass.. lol..
Not just yet ave, waiting for the man to come and fix our shower then I am off to the fridge – a friend has been round with chocs and a bottle of fizz too!!
Ooh young man, come to fix the shower have you, young man?… Oooh YOUNG MAN..
It may be a young lady Ave, you never know these days……
Good old ‘Arry
Over to the Fast Show then..
“What me here, the 13th Duke of Wybourne, with a girl in my shower room?”
“With my reputation”…
I’ll get my coat..
hello rico,
your house is like my teeth.Always something going wrong
“We have to finish speaking about how young we are. We need to play like we are a big and strong team”.
Andrey Arshavin
apparently Mr Wenger speaks 8 languages, but he has trouble getting his weeks and months mixed up.
“Ye ol’ Jack Wilshere”.. and “The Old man of Arron Ramsey: will be his playing partners..
http://www.footballfancast.com/blog/arsenal/arsenals-once-great-hope-sees-his-career-spiral-obscurity/15108
so sad
Hello again all, sorry I dissapeared, but the shower man turned up, then the doorbell rang, and it wasn’t the postman as it rang once
kelsey – spot on, but yours is far more painful
JonJon – that is very sad about Reyes, another man who had he been able to stick it out in England would have been turned into a great footballer – he wasn’t far off in any case. We read about Ronaldo, how great he thinks he is, and the 80M he says he is worth… Well, Reyes could have been on a par with him, like Pires in his first 18 months, the physical side to the premiership was hard for him – but he could have overcome that in the same way Bobby did, and I truly believe that had Henry not have scowled at him quite so often, Reyes would still now be a name on the back of many an Arsenal fans shirt….
It shows that Real Madrid is not always the promised land.. He would have been far better off staying at Arsenal with Arsene’s arm around him..
There hasn’t been too many success stories when players leave us..
They could learn a lot off Dennis, one of the richest footballers who played in this country and loyal too..
Heres a old Times rich list.. you don’t do too bad at THOF…
1 David Beckham £65m
2 Dennis Bergkamp £37m
3 Michael Owen £30m
4 Robbie Fowler £28m
5 Alan Shearer £22m
6= Sol Campbell £20m
6= Rio Ferdinand £20m
6= Ryan Giggs £20m
6= Roy Keane £20m
10 Thierry Henry £18m
Ave – you know what, I have a tiny feeling that by the end of this week we will have a big name at our club…
Today, I just feel good about life in general…..
And we have treated ourselves to a DVD today.. Mama Mia
Don’t write any posts until you get those songs out of your head..
“But if you change your mind (I’ll be first in line)”
Ha Ha ave, I will try hard, but today, well its my…
Waterloo
Do you know why DB is so rich ? I do
He invested his money wisely and built up a whole portfolio of properties.N
He still remains my all time favorite player.
Hi Kelsey
Yep, he is still the best we have ever had.
Hello peeps
rico you’re radiating warmth and love, whatever has made you feel so good I hope it lasts a long while
Cripes ..
we all agree with London… DB10 the best DM we never had..
Kelsey.. that’s why Robbie Fowler done okay too.. oop norf they sing “we all live in a Robbie Fowler house” lol..
Hi ave – good news – Nasri will be back in 6 weeks said the boss
peaches….
that could be the managers way of saying im not buying anyone…
then next summer if we fail wenger can say at the AGM he thought nasri would play 70% of the season and will say when nasri comes back it will be like a new player so he wont buy anyone next year either…
JonJon – where’s all the positive thinking gone….
The thing is we know him so well don’t we, we’ve heard all the excuses before and if he doesn’t buy we’ll be doomed
before we begin aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh
A couple of days ago I wrote a quick list of available strikers: David Villa, Huntelaar, Fabiano, Dzeko but I have just realised that I had forgotten someone……Sergio Aguero: young, quick, more that capable of playing Wengerball and with all the financial heavyweights out the way; Barça will but Villa, this one could be in our price range……I like this idea….puuuuuuurrrrrrrrr
aguero…i like him london… well pointed out…..
peaches i was jesting..
only problem with aguero is london that i think hes got a 40mil release clause and athletico have said on several occasions that he isnt for sale…which means any team that wanted him would have to pay the full whack to even get to talk to him…
i think that rules us out….
I have just eaten a lovely loaded three cheese pizza with garlic and the full works coleslaw – just heaven
peaches – it will, i promise
rico that sounds like a jonjon meal…
whats happened to your honey glazed roast pork on a bed of horseradish and dandelion salad…
normally when you describe your meals its like an audition for masterchef….
pizza???
JJ.. not too nice if your a veggie…
JonJon – now you know I don’t eat meat
Its a day for spoiling myself and the better one, no cooking, no washing up, no nothing
You again give me a reason to smile
Rico.. are you pissed yet? I’m going to open a Becks now..
2U.. cheers..
Ave – how observant, you are such a super trooper
sorry rico but you know what i meant…
slip of the tongue…
sounds better than honey glazed roast cabbage..
im on my 2nd fosters…
cheers..
And you told JonJon off for bullying earlier Ave – you are equally as bad
Thanks ave, I am ‘chink chinking’ my glass right now… Cheers
JonJon – for sure I knew, I thought it was a lovely comment – I have worked through a bottle of the stuff that goes bang on opening, and now on my third tin of stella 4%, I am not too fussy
go steady rico…
but you sound happy so keep doing what your doing…
JonJon, Mama Mia, Pizza and alcohol – what more can one want in the middle of the week – its you guys and gals that keep me happy
I am going to do a post on happiness one day – and i promise not to mention Ken Dodd
Tomorrow we sign a player…..
tomorrow we sign 2 players….
We’re not going to buy anyone
i know rasp…
nasri will be our new signing..
Sorry you two, I don;t think you are right on this matter – Waltzing and Chamakh will be ours by the end of the transfer market
We don’t need anyone.. Ade leaving is like a new signing..
and we dont need a new striker or cm…
we have rosicky…
You just wait
There is an outside possibility of a ‘small’ surprise in the form of Martins – Newcastle are desperate to lower the wage bill and he could go for as little as £5m
I have just read up
We are going to buy some one, probably two new faces.
We’ve just got rid of someone two-faced
Who’s it gonna be then London?
Ave – I think you are not far off the mark, his leaving will give a lot of freedom to other players, both mentally and physically……
I didn’t realise your were having a doom fest
Huntelaar and M Diarra
two players will come in….
as ive said before arsene cannot justify making 25mil and not spending a penny of it…
how will he get out of that one at the AGM if we have another failed season…. a 5th failed season….
6 years without the PL…
he cant…he’ll spend…
Although I would prefer Aguero and M Diarra
Not a ‘doomfest’ …. everyone was very positive and it occurred to me that there is no concrete evidence of us actually making a move for any of the players we’ve been linked with. The signing of TV was similar to Nasri – no-one denied that negotiations were ongoing. As far as I can see, we are not currently negotiating to buy any players at the moment although AW has said things like ‘he is a player I admire’ which is usually a smokescreen.
Thank you Jonjon
Some people wrongly assume that he wouldn’t want to spend the money he obviously has available. Wenger had a bad season, transfer wise, last year but there is no reason to assume he will make the same mistakes.
You could have anticipated that Ade was going to go but until he actually went there was always a doubt. The money probably arrived today. It is negative to expect that there should be concrete evidence of a signing this soon after.
I don’t mind,, I am happier than last close season.. A CM would be nice.. perhaps a striker.. I wouldn’t want anyone restricting Bendy.. he will get 20 plus this season given the chance..
Evening
We have to sign 2 players – don’t ask me who but we just have to – we have the money to spend and although I’m not a spender I can’t believe that Arsene will want to take the flack again for failing to sign someone….
So far I’m wrong and negative ……. actually, I’m just offering an alternative view …. not one that I hope will come true. Maybe AW has learned from past experience and we will sign someone – or …. maybe WE haven’t learned from past experience and we won’t sign someone….
Guys, I have to go now – I will be back spreading happiness tomorrow
Stay safe
rasp – when do we ever really know that negotiations are taking place……we don’t believe the hacks and arse.com are muzzled
I want us to sign players peaches … I just don’t see too many encouraging signs at the moment. I think he is less likely to sign a midfielder, which in my opinion is the most needed…..
Until this window is closed, I see no reason to be anything other than optimistic.
Nite rico – while your spreading happiness could you make the sun shine tmoro please
That’s a state of mind … I’m pleased you feel that way ….. I may wake up tomorrow in the same mood. Subjective analysis of the evidence available does not link us with any player in particular for the time being. I think Huntelaar is going to be too expensive.
ABBA good nite rico
Why is Huntelaar too expensive?
RM have agreed his value at £17mill ish.. Do you think it is his wage demands Rasp?
I still see him as cheaper than Ade..
I know rasp, a midfielder is on everyones wish list but we want someone to play alongside Cesc and thats gotta be a special midfielder……
Who is that ‘special’ midfielder we’re going to buy then peaches?
The scaryest thing about the price of Huntelaar is that he is in spud range.
London – we can always count on you to be optimistic
Avening eve,
I don’t think the club want any more ‘Ade sized’ deals. I think its the price and the wages that will be a stumbling block.
There is also a golden rule that must never be broken on blogsites..
Never sign a Dutchman.. always compare his stats to Kezman’s.. that proves he is crap..lol
The spuds have outspent us for about the last 5 seasons, their sugardaddy doesn’t look for a return from his investments
Trust me Peaches, I am a Doctor
I thought you lot all decided that DB was the best Arsenal player ever?
I am with London, until the window is closed…..
Night all,
May the sun shine peaches, and Rasp thats really funny
I love ABBA
I don’t know rasp……..I just don’t know…..
Alonso last season would have been a good plan
See ya tomorrow Rico.. x
we’ll sign…
i wouldnt mind if we only got a CM…thats the most important for me…then im happy…
but this has been the best transfer window for several years and we all know why dont we??
Maybe Song has been doing sprinting and hes gonna be the one………….
Rasp it was generic.. you need to get down the Boot.. lol..
In the style of Gerry Maguire…. “Show me the players”….
You’re all full of bluster!!!! … admit it…. we’re not on the verge of signing anyone at the moment…..
DB is part of the Dutch genera????
“Show me the players”
Very good, lol
Can you at least let the Ade cheque clear first?
Here he is
Clubs don’t wait for cheques to clear (even metaphorically) – the club new he was going long before it was confirmed. We don’t write a cheque the day we sign a player any more than we receive one the day we sell. AW is cautious by nature. Only when he worked alongside someone a bit more cavalier like DD did we sign players quickly an decisively. Who knows what Ivan’s agenda is? Does he work for us or Stan?
ooooh ave’ll tell me off
You just wanted to dribble over Tom Cruise peaches
I think you mean evil.. lol.. you naughty girl..
Yep…I can’t lie…..
Don’t change it.. that’s cheating…
Most people’s negativity towards Wenger and the transfer market is based on last season. This is understandable, in many ways I agree, Wenger took his eye of the ball but that was just one season. In every other summer Wenger has come up trumps…..that is every transfer window Rasp, he has got it right. This fact is the reason for my optimism.
But I like this one better
The club knew Ade was going to leave long before it was confirmed Rasp…..are you sure…..please tell how you can be so sure?
Actually, I could take issue with the pessimist allegation as on many sites, the ‘optimists’ are deemed as the ones who claim that the players we have are fantastic and we don’t need to buy, and those that want new players are branded as negative pesimists…..
I’m not sure you’re right there London – last summer we needed 3 players before we knew that Hleb, Flam and Gilberto were going, people were calling for a first class Goalie, DM and a striker. We hadn’t replaced Thierry, Bobby or Paddy, Jens was off and Almunia was suspect.
Oh bollox…. I started this little bit of fun as ‘agent provocateur’ purely because everyone was being so upbeat about a mystery signing just around the corner and I hadn’t read anything that justified that feeling. Sadly as I tried to put myself in that ‘negative’ pair of shoes I started to see the sense in it and have almost talked myself into believing it.
I hope beyond hope that we do sign a couple more players and sad thouigh it is, maybe the injuries to Nasri and Dudu will force AW’s arm …….. but don’t bank on it …. doh!!
Rasp I am not trying to say you are a pessimist, I am just saying, give it a bit more time……and by the way, we are not other sites, we are not lefty zealots and we are not anti Arsenal cretins….this is the best site that is why we are here, simples
There we go Rasp, don’t you feel better for that
Night, night folks
I do like our chats Rasputin.
London
I have no choice but to give it more time … I’m not planning to pop mi clogs until I’ve seen us lift the Champions League trophy
Oy you two wind your necks in your misreading each other again..
That’s spot on London.. we are the best site..
Cheers London.. Night.
Ave – you’re misreading this one … London and I are cool about this ….. no angst!
rasp – its OK to be being realistic – there’s nothing in the press about us neotiating for any players – you’re absolutely right……that doesn’t mean that we won’t it just means its frustrating…….
No probs.. but unlike Chelsea.. you have history..
Nite London … hope your prediction comes …true
Listen here ave … if you want a rumble I’ll give you one … but leave me and my mate London out of this
Okay.. My Scott is better than your Trek..
Nite London
Right Rasputin anything else you want to get off your chest while we’re all ducking for cover……
Peaches … I guess my point is that at the moment, I don’t think we are even close to signing a player. I think we could sign Chamakh swiftly as he’s almost begging us to take him – and maybe the same is true of Matuidi. If Huntelaar is ready to leave, he will entertain a range of suitors and we are less likely to suceed.
Beam me up ave
I agree….its an either or with Chamakh and Huntelaar though isn’t and is Matuidi better than Song? Song really improved during the tale-end of last season it would be really poor to buy someone that wasn’t better than him…….
My comments are taking forever to go through
Scrab?
I seem to be winning an argument I want to lose….. so the only midfielder we might buy isn’t any better than what we’ve got and we aren’t likely to land the best striker available … you lot are giving in too easily .. I want you to convince me I’m wrong ….aaaarrrggghhh!!!
Huntelaar was about to sign for Stutgard – so what happened there…..Man U, Man City, Chavs and Barca aren’t going to want him are they……Liverpool don’t have any money and don’t need him anyway…..Milan??????? Where’s he going to go – Spurs over US I can’t see it……
Don’t be silly – of course you’re wrong we’re only humouring you………
Hang on ….. dah di dah….. just putting my optimistic hat on…….. Yes you’re right peaches … we are top of the list of clubs that are likely to be interested…. I think?
Exactly – by the process of deduction its possible that is it us……not certain and don’t blame me if it doesn’t happen but whisper it quietly shhhhhh
How long does a 2 min scrab take rasp?
Almunia.
Sagna.
Toure.
Gallas.
Clichy.
Fabregas.
Song?.
Nasri.
Rosicky.
Arshavin.
Bendtner.
With .
Walcott
RvP.
Gibbs.
Vera lynn.
Djourou.
Eduardo.
Fabianski.
Denilson.
Ramsey.
Wilshere.
Vela.
Traore,
Eboue?
plus more as back ups..
That seems to be as good a squad as any other in the Prem..
I don’t see this winning an argument bit..
Were okay..
I haven’t had my supper yet… so off to cook some bits up … looks like things have fizzled out here – unless you’re all hiding behind the sofa
… catch up later or in the morn. Nite all……
Sorry ave – I signed off before I had read your list.
Joking apart…. tell me honestly … do you think we will sign any more players? It looks like you’re saying we’ll be fine if we don’t.
Rasp.. I hope we get a Flamini type player.. but I really want Dudu and Bendtner to work.. and RvP he is a top bloke..
But that ain’t a bad squad is it?.. really.. Even Man U have weak spots..
If you need to shoot off speak soon ..
morning all
Morning Evo.. try to get some more aussie gooners on.. I am off to bed and we always miss each other..
Nite buddy..
righto mate, will try my best!
